Review Num Tong Thai Restaurant - Maylands

Delicious local Thai food. Food has been excellent whenever we've been there. We've also had a few dishes here we've never tried before and they're always delicious.

Went to this place for dinner with my family. The food tasted great. I had a red wine. It was only 6.90 and it was a very generous glass. Dishes ordered included: Crispy Honey Prawn Tom Yum Chicken Entree Fried Rice Massaman Beef Curry Honey BBQ Pork

Not bad food but there are much better (authentic) Thai places not too far away from here. edit: downgraded from 3 to 1 star as three of us who ate the curries ended up with the runs. The fourth person who had the noodles was fine. Not good!

Just picked up my order and VERY disappointed in the Massanan Curry. 6 pieces of beef in the whole container for $16.90 or probably more cos I can’t see the price anywhere!

I would give them TEN out of five stars if the app would allow me. They are generous souls. My mom sends her blessings really. I was with her at the hospital and hadn't noticed the time so was looking for ordering dinner and ordered just ONE minute before closing time and they still accepted the order. It was not a last minute prep either, they made me a nice dinner that was warm when it arrived and such filling portion also. Thank you Num Tong. The meal was delicious. Your service amazing. Fish cake yummy and rice noodles on point.

Have been looking for a reasonably priced Thai Restaurant close to home and we stumbled across this place. It's a real Gem. The Stir-Fry Dishes were nice and fresh and crunchy and a decent portion size. Green Curry was definitely a winner with lots of flavour. They have plenty of room so would even be a good location to take a group as well. Speed of service was good and we were well looked after. Will definitely return!!

Yea pretty good. I love my thai so I'm hard to please hence the 4 stars, but pretty good. Decent price. Really friendly staff member. Good looking setting. Just tried the standard pad thai which i use to judge and wasn't displeased. Good mix of flavour and decent portion. Will come back and try another dish!

Our dinner was delicious, about $28 per head including an entree and main each, corkage and 1 beer. Staff were friendly. Not many people for a Saturday night. Mains on the smaller serve size, but promptly served. Big venue for large groups if needede and nice Thai decor.

OMG- was it just a bad night??? Been here a few times and always had a good meal. But tonight- well the squid entree without any sauce, set the scene. (Though it was tasty.) Unfortunately the mains were below average. Prawn omelette served with tomato sauce, and nothing else. Prawns? They were hiding. Tomato sauce- you're kidding! Tasted like a very basic egg omelette. Then the char grilled chicken- someone forgot the char. Just small lumps of chicken, a small (tiny) sauce dish and a bit of salad on the side. This is supposed to be a Thai restaurant. Where were the flavours? Score? 3/10, only because the salt and pepper squid brought the score up. Extremely disappointing overall. Just hope it was an aberration- but I won't be back for a long time , just in case it wasn't!

Big menu. Delicious food. Lamb curry is my favourite. Pad Thai is awesome. Excellent value. BYO. Lovely, friendly service. Needs a new paint job! Love it!

Our local Thai place. Relatively busy little store but quiet enough to find a table most nights without booking. I like the massaman Beef dish, the tom yum is nice and spicy and the cashew chicken is always a favourite with the kids. Highly recommend.

Our regular Friday night takeout. Food is always delivered fast, fresh and hot. We always go for the panang curry, chicken cashew, pad si eew & Money bags!

Delicious green Thai curry and very lovely staff. It seemed busy with most tables occupied on a Thursday night. Entree came out quick and we could bring our own wine. Was a nice night. Ended up being $25pp or something and we ate a lot!

Serving sizes are not even enough for one. The chicken and cashew tasted fine. The Thai fried rice was some of the blandest fried rice I've ever had.

Tried this place for the first time. Ordered take-away. 4 small spring rolls for the price is a bit excessive as they taste very average. Had the Penang prawn curry - curry was very tasty and creamy. Also had the vegetarian/tofu pad Thai - was missing the peanutty taste and would have liked some fresh lime to squeeze. Value for money is about a 3/5. Everything was ok but not sure of it would become a regular visit.

Our usual Thai was booked out and we were looking for something else. Wasn't sure if it was any good but thought we'd try it! Very pleasantly surprised! Beautiful and fresh tasty meals! Pad Thai chicken was my favourite!!! Service was friendly and attentive!!

We revisited after a couple of years. It was amazing Thai food. We were surprised. We had steamed ginger fish which was amazing and lemon prawns - large king prawns with a beautiful sauce. I notice the negative reviews also are quite old. We may have found a new regular local restaurant :)

Best Thai. I've been eating Thai from here for the past 4 years. The service is always friendly with a smile. My favourite meal is the Chilli Ginger with chicken or prawns. Food is always fresh.

Always a good meal, value for money. I have been here a number of times over the last few years and it is a great local Thai.
Good food, great friendly service, nothing is too much trouble and there is always a smile.
Worth a try in my book

Always good. The Num Tong is a simple family run restaurant but for me it always comes up trumps. I have been going there for a few years on and off and I can now navigate my way round meals designed to fill people up cheaply and the super tasty meals that seem authentic to me anyway. The specials are always worth a try and I like the house mussels.

I know the stocks are all home made and the veggies are always fresh. If it was funked up a bit decor wise I am sure it would be fuller. After the meal's started though, the old school Thai paintings seem to look more interesting somehow.

Had better.. Ordered the Red Duck Curry, Minced Chicken Salad and Stir-fried Garlic and Pepper Squid for takeaway. Serves were quite small for the price (at other places we usually get two meals out of the curry (as we cook rice at home) but this time the Red Duck Curry was only enough for one meal). The duck was a little fatty with the skin still on but not too bad considering how fatty Duck naturally is. The curry sauce wasn't very creamy but had a little bite to it. Loved the lychees. The stir fry lacked flavour and the Chicken Salad didn't have rice like the menu stated. Would probably try Ploy Thai (Eighth Ave) next time or go back to Thai Orchid (Beaufort St).

Amazing. Didn't realise it was BYO, but for starters, mains and a bottle of wine, $80 is a great price for dinner. Food was lovely, in fact it was the best Asian meal we have had in Perth and we have been here for 5 years. Sizzling chilli mains were fantastic, one veggie and one beef, and the staff were very nice which completed a good evening out. Thanks, Num Tong.

Num Tong Thai. Food was as good as one can expect in a restaurant out of Thailand and in the suburbs, food well presented, good service, clean and cheap. Would go back if in the neighbourhood.

A long time fave. Num Tong has been a favourite for the past 4 years or so. We love the food, the staff and the fact that its BYO. Always a great night out

Bland.. LOVE Thai food but Num Tong is bland, quite the opposite of what Thai should be.
The Mussaman beef is okay, but that was a highlight.
Was annoyed to be told it was BYO when I booked, only to find that it is not.
For better Thai in Maylands, got to Ploy on Eighth Ave.

My Favourite Thai Restaurant. Num Tong is deceiving looks very basic and plain from outside, and its pretty simple inside come to think of it. Having said that I have tried every dish on the menu at least twice now over my 2.5yrs living in Maylands. I would go here on average once a fortnight minimum. The Massman beef curry and Pad Thai are two of my favourites. The food is always fresh and not greasy. Fantastic value for money and super friendly staff albeit they speak little english.
Give it a try!

Seriously tasty thai. We are regulars at Num Tong. The food is amazing! It's consistently fab and the prices are reasonable.
