Review Coriole Vineyards - McLaren Vale

Superb wine and food experience. Dropped in for lunch on a Thursday. Very accommodating staff very eager to please. Menu is a choice of 5 or 7 course set, or share plates. The food is absolutely the best quality. For a relaxed dining experience on a sunny autumn's day, it was define. Staff were awesome, and we just soaked it up. Had a fabulous time!

Went to the Arbour bar for food. The olives, focaccia with olive oil and roasted potatoes were all great. Hard to believe we got all that and an imported beer for $27. The music was good and so were the views. Shame about the service at our table (non existent). Had to ask how to order, get our own cutlery, water, napkins etc from inside.

A beautiful place. Absolutely beautiful!!!! Very busy. So I am assuming the restaurant was very good. Wine tasting area was very busy. Wines were very average. Staff were extremely busy but very attentive. Thank you šŸ˜Š

Beautiful grounds, great food, exceptional wine. The kids loved exploring the gardens and the adults loved everything else. Absolutely visit Coriole on your McLaren Vale trip.

One of my favorites restaurant in the McLaren Vale region. Top notch food, wine, service and gorgeous setting. Had 7 course menu and every dish was well portioned and beautifully presented.

The lunch tasting menu was truly to die for! Incredible food, so much we were full leaving and it was paired perfectly with their gorgeous wines. Do yourself a favour and eat here for lunch. View and restaurant is just stunning, service was great too.

We had the most excellent long lunch here last week, the staff were all super friendly, the food was amazing - and great value too. They were also very accommodating by serving us our dessert outside on the terrace as it was such a nice day. The whole place is super picturesque, we could have spent all day here! Will be back for sure

Lovely winery and food was delicious but canā€™t understand why half of your wines from cellar door ainā€™t on your wine list in restaurant. The wine we wanted was not on the list so asked the question if we could purchase our chosen wine from cellar door and bring into the restaurant and was told we would be charged corkage fee as itā€™s not on the list. I found this to be alittle rich considering itā€™s your own wine. Think this needs to be addressed. Would recommend to family and friends

My husband and i had the pleasure of dining at Coriole yesterday. We opted for the feed me menu option with wine pairing and so glad we did! Every course was beautifully presented and delicious! The staff were friendly and the service was great! A fantastic meal in a beautiful setting! Thanks! Highly recommend the feed me menu to anyone wanting some delicious food and wine! ļæ½

Iā€™m sure itā€™s a lovely winery, but they need at bit of work running events. We travelled from interstate to attend ā€œHereā€™s To Nowā€ tonight and are seriously unimpressed. Not only did the bar staff not know how to pronounce the wines they were selling, they refused point blank to allow tastings before committing to buying a bottle at over $30 a pop. We ordered pizza at 7.40pm and at 9.38pm, weā€™re still waiting...still hungry!! They also ran out of vegetarian options before we even arrived at 6.30pm!! Seriously - nearly 2 hours for some basic pizza theyā€™re charging $15 per VERY small pizza?? Not good enough. Lift your game Coriole!

If anyone has the pleasure of meeting Libby in the wine tasting room and being able to get her to talk you through the wines i cannot tell you how lucky you are!! This is probably the best wine tasting we have ever experienced and we couldn't stop talking about how lovely she was! She made our day! In fact the entire team were fantastic, but Libby went above and beyond! I cannot praise her enough, but you are amazing! ļæ½ Beautiful day, amazing wines and some of the best staff I've ever met at a cellar door!!

Beautiful gardens and view. Restaurant was closed when we were there, but the menu sounds divine! The staff member we were served by (Velvet) is very knowledgeable and very friendly. Beautiful Olives, wine and vinegar!

The desert was to die for, very pleasant surrounds, attentive staff and lovely food. Pleasantly surprised with the serving size as was a little concerned the husband would not be happy, but was just enough.
Michael Ferrier
The setting is magnificent, food is amazing & their wines are arguably some of the best in the region. The Dancing Fig would have to be my favorite. I've also heard their Chenin & Fiano Whites are also pretty spectacular as well. Enjoy the experience for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful location. Been here several times in different seasons and their wonderful garden surrounding the old stonebuilt house is always in bloom. Wine is good, staff friendly. Will come back again.

We were having a lovely day in the region, and had exceptional service from two wineries before arriving at coriole. Before we had even started tasting the wines we spent over $40 on cheese and biscuits. The wine tasting started and the young blonde woman tasked with servicing us started off ok- pleasant enough... but only told us the type of wine we were drinking- that was it. The next wine she flew passed us filled our glasses- without even telling us what it was. It wasnā€™t even on the list... we had to ask her as she was running passed again to find out what it was. The following few wines we had to keep asking for service. On the final wine we were getting annoyed. She dumped the wine in the glass ā€œthis is the Shirazā€ and she turned to go...all I said was ā€œand...ā€ with such attitude she gave us some vague facts. She hated us. I know she was busy but she was far more attentive to other groups- perhaps we didnā€™t look like we were going to spend money.... we had already spent a few hundred dollars at the previous vineyards... it was a bit of a pretty woman moment. The wine was delicious, I would have bought a lot, but the taste was completely soured by the unsatisfactory service. I will not recommend this winery to others....

Great location for a leisurely lunch with great view, food and wines. So happy we got a table as it looked very busy but even so, the staff were all lovely, attentive and I'm looking forward to going there again

We recently had our wedding at Coriole. Service was outstanding during the lead up and then on the day! Setting is just so pretty and food and wine totally delicious. There was plenty of it too - no one was left with an empty glass! We had the best day ever and have had so much positive feedback from our guests. Thank you so much Coriole and a big special thanks to Genevieve X

Awesome place making! Someone loves this place - so do I..

Enjoyed our tasting and kalamata olives were amazing... but you lost our business in the restaurant with the super confusing, expensive and sparce of choice menu! Brought uk visitors so kind of embarassing! Wont be rushing back despite great food recommendations. I dont like being forced into spending alot of money on a set menu. You need to have a little more flexibility!

There is no winery in South Australia which can host an event with anything like the style that Coriole do. A seamless event today for over 3000 people was completely cleaned up within an hour of their departure, everyone happy, everyone fed, everyone had enjoyed fabulous wines. An amazing team in a breathtaking location

Loved this cellar door winery... we visited two prior to this one but this was the best..(maybe because we'd had a few to warm us upšŸ¤”šŸ˜‚)and were looked after by Libby who was so helpful and knowledgeable.. even gave us advice for our upcoming trip to IrelandšŸ˜€ Thanks guys (Love the toilets too!!)

Amazing atmosphere, friendliest staff and incredible food! Best way to spend my mums 50th birthday with family ļæ½

Loved the local beer, disappointed with menu and didn't stay for lunch

Wonderful table setting on the lawn under the tree and dog friendly there. Excellent food and wines although share plates are a bit on the small side for prices charged.
Marilyn Shephard
Great food, great wine and great service. Can't wait to go back again.

As a first time visitor to Coriole Vineyards i was delighted with the venue and the food and wines were superb ....well done guys.

Disappointing experience when we had an international visitor with us. Group of 7 ppl. We were not advised there was a minimum order per person when we booked by phone when the only available time was 2.30pm. The Menu was unclear as to platter serving sizes. The lady who took our order was inflexible and told us the order was 'not enough'. Unfortunately you lost our lunch orders, wine tasting, wine purchases and future patronage or recommendation. Pity as your restaurant and wines came highly recommended and ruined a beautiful Sunday outing with friends
Sarah
Gorgeous winery with delicious food and wine to match! I went for a group lunch here on our winery tour and was pleasantly surprised by the creative dishes and flavours. The service was also very helpful in navigating the menu with wine pairings.

We stopped here as a last minute decision to have late lunch at Mc Laren Vale, it was the best decision Iā€™ve ever made, no regret!
Food were all delish, chicken was so soft and juicy. Our appetizer which was chicken liver was so yummmm, while the vibe+the view is a 5-star rating.
Though I rated this 4 star due to the arrangement of the dining table is a bit packed... we were too close to the big table behind us and I got the family gathering lunching.. we were sort of underwhelmed by the noise.
Otherwise all went well, I would def dine there again when I am in the area. And will try their course menu.

A beautiful rustic restaurant with a gorgeous view of the vineyard. The food is delicious and their degustation menu is very generous, and good value for money. If we are ever back in McLaren Vale, we will definitely return for more!
Kimmy
The service was really good and the view was great however, I feel that the food was really underwhelming ( we had degustation menu). I can see they are trying hard to include native ingredients into the dishes but to be brutally honest, the flavours didnā€™t work well together and some of the dishes just simply didnā€™t taste good. Apple dessert was however, pretty tasty. Itā€™s my 4th time dining in coriole but I feel like the standard of the food is declining.

Came for wine tasting and dessert. Desserts were beautifully presented and delicious. Chocolate dome was very very rich. A scoop of vanilla ice cream in the dome would help balance the flavours. The lemon meringue also an amazing taste sensation.

Iā€™ve always wanted to check outĀ Coriole VineyardsĀ Restaurant in McLaren ValeĀ after seeing all the beautiful plates on Instagram and breathtaking views. Such was the plan for my birthday (yesā€¦I know this post is a long time coming) and I can tell you right now I was not disappointed. The views were as amazing as the photos look, the floral cottage garden pretty and colourful as ever and service was top notch.

Share plates in the garden. Very relaxed. Friendly service. A real mixed bag on the plate. Squid in tapioca chip was sensational. Could have eaten that five times over. Heirloom carrots were... carrots. With goats cheese.
Jacqui's Food Fetish
The foodā€™s come a long way at Coriole ā€“ mind you, the last time I went was about nine years ago for a ā€˜WAGSā€™ luncheon and back then, it was all about the platters. It was a memorable long lunch sitting out in the garden in the sun, but for me, Coriole became the place for a platter ā€“ not something Iā€™d make the trip to McLaren Vale for.
Riri
Great view when dining and place is very cosy. Friendly staff, Food served was pretty and tastes good too. The lady was helpful with choosing what wine goes with the food we ordered. The place was not as busy when we went there and we loved just chilling and admiring the view with peace and quiet.

With its fun atmosphere, Coriole is like a younger sister to its up-the-road neighbour dā€™Arryā€™s. Here you can lunch on share plates in the courtyard, enclosed verandah or surrounding gardens, with the full ā€˜feed meā€™ tasting experience inflicting a reasonable $65pp on your bank balance, or $95pp with matched Coriole wines. As like every other winery restaurant on this list, Coriole is true to itā€™s philosophy of serving local, seasonal produce, with as much grown on the property as possible. Warning: you will get drunk on the vineyard views, if not that then definitely the fiano.

I also aggressively encourage you to try the house-baked sourdough bread dunked in Coriole olive oil.

Impressive degustation menu of generous value. Beautiful to behold, tasteful to the tongue, bountiful in number of dishes and the creativity among them. Great attentive service. We went on a gorgeous spring day, and the flowers and fields were lovely.

Missing something.
Set on hill overlooking the vineyards the view from the restaurant was fantastic.
Was a quiet day when we visited so service should have been exceptional. It was decent. It wasn't bad but it seemed like there was only one person at front of house. Seemed a little understaffed.
Food was again good but the dishes didn't standout. Wasn't memorable. But it was very pretty. My standards might be changing, five years ago I wouldn't have faulted dishes like these.
Overall may revisit but wouldn't be top of the list.

We visited Coriole, one of McLaren Vale's most popular wineries, for lunch just prior to their renovations.

The restaurant - at least before their new fit-out - is very nice: half indoor/outdoor area with views of the winery's gardens. We're told the new space makes better use of the views overlooking the vineyards.

The restaurant is typical of most in the region: Modern Aus with with plenty of local and house-grown produce; a reasonably sized menu all designed to be shared.

First, a truffle buttered duck liver pate was great. Next, a fish broth - all SA seafood - is excellent, as is the confit duck that follows.

A whipped chĆØvre with beetroot we're told is one of the restaurant's most popular dishes, and is everyone at our table's favourite.

For main dish, we shared pork tenderloin with apple and a snapper ravioli. Pork tenderloin was excellent. The ravioli, everyone agreed, was too rich.

For dessert, a chocolate bombe with honeycomb and fizz, was very nice. We'll order two next time.

Contrary to some reviews, our service was friendly and attentive; though the restaurant was very quiet on our visit. One complaint: the food service was too quick. A break between dishes would be better next time.

The wine list is Coriole focused, as expected. Some hard-to-find older vintages make the list unique. More common Coriole reds and whites also available by the glass and bottle.

In short, Coriole is one of McLaren Vale's top restaurants, and cheaper than many of its neighbours. We'll be back after the renovations.

Our next monthly Tempting Palates event was a lunch at Coriole Vineyard Restaurant at Chaffey's Road, McLaren Vale. The McLaren Vale region has always been a favourite with the Tempting Palates members so we were all looking forward to trying this place.....

Came in for the food and wine festival, service is absolutely terrible, the queues for food is 2 hours+ wait. Hundreds of customers came in only to have 1 person serving the food. Not sure about how the regular service looks like but certainly these people have really poor management system. Not gonna come back again.

A little disappointed with a girl staff member that gave our guests attitude. Male staff member was amazing. 11 people having the set tasting menu is not such a good idea. Food was not substantial enough. We were celebrating a 21 st... Some food was not really appropriate for that age Menu should have been explained a bit better. Desserts bomb was s failure the waitress just saying oh well. That didn't work. I wouldn't recommend this for the food. Wine was nice and a nice setting. 8 out of 11 of us were not really impressedIMG_5788.jpeg

We visited Coriole for lunch as part of our day in beautiful McLaren Vale.
Our guide, David from Top Notch Winery Tours recommended and booked for us and we were delighted with his choice.
There are vineyards, cottage gardens, a lovely cellar door and indoor/outdoor restaurant.
We were greeted warmly and seated on the verandah overlooking the vineyards.
The menu boasts a mouthwatering selection of local and South Australian gourmet food and wines.
Service is excellent, as is the wine list and coffee.
We absolutely loved our visit and would've happily stayed the whole day.
A must visit winery if you visit McLaren Vale.

Stunning winery with amazingly kept grounds. Brilliant rustic feel with modern food. Amazing Shiraz do yourself a favour and order a bottle of the sacred earth.. Nothing to fault the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon

Coriole is undoubtedly one of the prettiest vineyards in the McLaren Vale. Stunning gardens, breathtaking views and an open style restaurant. Fabulous wines and a great menu. The staff genuinely seem to love where they work which made the experience more enjoyable.

As my 4 yr old daughter would say, a.....mazing. Every bite was ultimate flavour and the whole meal contained textures you didn't know could be created. Try anything and everything. I recommend not eating for a day or two prior to this culinary event. Oh and the wine is spectacular and accompanies the food so well. You will not be disappointed.

Great food, great service and a wonderful setting.
The atmosphere is very good and they were very patient with the kids. I'll be back......

We had our Xmas party lunch here and I must say it was an extremely enjoyable experience. The food and wine was amazing and you can go past the picturesque views. The service was good although it would have been nice if the waitress knew what they were serving us. Definitely worth the drive and a must try.

Gardens surround the historic buildings that make up the cellar door and restaurant, filled year round with brightly coloured blooms. From all points of the property are views that extend over the rolling hills clad in vines, to the Mt Lofty Ranges beyond.
Fit & Fed Foodie
First impressions is the immaculate garden surrounding the cellar and restaurant, amazing! We got there 20mins before the restaurant opened, read the menu, killed some time walking about, standing near the entrance and not once got a "hello" from one of the 5 staff members walking about. Tipsy wine tasters wondered in 10minutes later and got seated and welcomed with menus, if I wasn't hungry I would've left. Lucky, once seated and served our dishes, the dishes made up for the poor service because they were just perfectly cooked, presented and portioned, I wish I had the appetite to try more... The wine alone would bring me back! Will come back at a later time nextime and with a reservation to avoid disappointment. #thankyouchef #kitchenstaff #winemakers

I am obsessed with Coriole's first extra virgin olive oil and so when my partner said we should go to Coriole for lunch I thought it would be a great idea so I could go buy a heap of olive oil!

The dining area is a nice open set up that's between two buildings and on one side the plastic/glass sheets can be rolled up to create an open/alfresco dining experience. But on the day we went it was cold and raining and luckily they've got a big fire place which we were able to sit next to and stay warm.

The highlight of the menu for me was the squid ink pasta with salmon and the duck liver parfait. The beef cheeks were good, but I've had better.

It was winter so the restaurant was pretty quiet. But the service was top notch with our waitress being very friendly, attentive and informative by explaining all the wines to us.

It was a good meal and I was also able to get lots of olive oil as well, so I was pretty happy!

Delicious lunch! We all had the "let us feed you" chefs tasting menu, everything was lovely. Went very well with a bottle of barbera! Gluten-free well catered for. Good service.
Tempting Palates
Our next monthly Tempting Palates event was a lunch at Coriole Vineyard Restaurant at Chaffey's Road, McLaren Vale. The McLaren Vale region has always been a favourite with the Tempting Palates members so we were all looking forward to trying this place. As with most winery restaurants the vibe was serene and pretty. Everyone in the group enjoyed the ambience and the surroundings of the outdoor dining area with its rustic wooden tables and chairs. The part that everyone in the group were unanimous about was the service.

We made a stop at the Coriole Vineyard, located in McLaren Vale. Ā The original farm houses became the epicentre of the garden and the cellar door. Ā There is a beautiful garden at the front, and the back is the restaurant. Ā

Can't believe a winery restaurant that wont serve red in red wine glasses use tasting glasses in restaurant Restaurant staff need a personality implant Gaving watched me type this the glasses were forthcoming
B Dining
Was looking forward to a lovely lunch when I sat at a table (there were plenty to choose from) and waited for a long time to not be acknowledged. Finally I approached a waiter to ask if we could see a menu and was told "we aren't taking walk in's". Ridiculous as it was less than half full. The staff attitude was awful so we obviously went elsewhere!
TommyTucker
Visited on Sunday lovely setting but this was spoilt by the restaurant staff with bad attitude.
We left before ordering.

Best Tasting Plate in the State!. Coriole serves the most delicious tasting plate. I was a little dubious when we visited and found that there was only one option on the menu, but the food really is divine. The freshest of produce, beautiful cheeses and gorgeous wines to match - what more can you ask for?? Perhaps a stunning view? Well you can have that too!
