Review Billi's - McMahons Point

Louise
Such a gorgeous homely restaurant with great area of outdoor seating, ideal for those with dogs, eating indoors COVID concerns etc. Everything is constantly sanitised and you could easily eat here without ever having to go inside. Staff are very attentive. MENU: Great selection of salads, entrees, beef, chicken, salmon, fish and desserts etc. They are very accommodating of dietary requirements ,(vegan, vegetarian, low FODMAP, Histamine, gluten free etc) and kindly made up gf garlic bread for me. STAFF: The waitress was lovely, checking in to see how are meals were, you could tell she clearly had a passion for her job and we were lucky enough to meet the owner who was also super friendly, attentive and flexible with requirements. AREA: Lower North shore leafy area, with gorgeous trees surrounding the eating spaces. INTERIOR: Super plush, homely and inviting. They have an incredibly large selection of books. It's the type of place you could go to and read in all day! Restaurant would easily fit large groups 30+ people and has impeccable interior design. ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair and pram accessibility. With Street parking available in the area (we got a park right outside!) Their bookshelf tree is incredible and well worth the look if you're in the area, the owner even let us know that they're doing a guessing comp. at the moment on the amount of books in it. Highly recommend and will definitely be back time and time again. Had been several times many years ago and it's great to see their premises have grown even more. Simply lovely. TIP: They also do late night coffee which is a huge plus!

Nice location with under whelming service and a misleading menu Fresh pineapple juice is on the menu for $8 however they won’t serve it as it takes 2 pineapples and is Uneconomical to service ! That’s ok - then take it off the menu ! anise in the morning roll, not listed in the menu, spoilt the overall flavour of the roll The Bloody Mary and salsa verde eggs are a massive miss - poached eggs over cooked and salsa lack any form of flavour The Morning roll looks great, ensure you like a lot of anise !!! This came as a surprise as it wasn’t list in the menu and overpowered the other flavours The only dish that was nice is the Turkish Laban eggs - great flavours In summary disappointing experience

Had a pleasant experience at Billis for breakfast, we were greeted promptly and taken to a seat down back. Took a little while to get our order in but once ordered it took 5mins for our coffee and 15mins for our breakfast. It's a relaxed spot for breakfast or lunch. Price wise it's on par with most in the area.

Good food, nice ranges of drinks. But quite pricy for brunch.

unfortunately this place is extremely overrated. yes very rustic and quaint interior...however there is no love made into the food. I ordered a eggs benedict with salmon, the presentation was something i would make at home. It looked so sad. the eggs were boiled to the brim, not the slightly runny touch. I do not recommend this place nor will come again, considering the brunch standard in Sydney is so high (i can go elsewhere same price but higher quality).

Very nice and atmospheric place! Went there for lunch, was really yummy and quick, portions are big. The staff is hospitable and welcoming and the location is gorgeous.
Oğul Başol
One of the most popular cafes in this area. I can tell why, because they serve well presented very tasty dishes including popular selections as well as unique menu selections. Ingredients are fresh and tasty, service pace is okay. We were so hungry so it felt like forever but I'm sure it was 20-25 mins tops on the prime time. However, my food got cold while waiting for my mates' plates to get ready. Price performance is fair, not cheap though. Staff is friendly and cheerful. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Enjoyed family breakfast at Billi’s Cafe in Jan 2021. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon and egg benedict with salmon. Dishes were nice and service was quick. Eggs benedict with bacon cost $18. Just make sure you look at the new menu on google map. We menu we looked at was old - posted 4 years ago and prices have changed.
The Next Rush
Super friendly service, efficient kitchen that allows you indulge in sumptuous dishes without going overtime on your restricted lunch hour, and licensed. For work purposes the outdoor area is suitable for casual meetings while the back area is more quiet and suitable for some serious work on the laptop or phone to be done. The coffee? Perfect! Rough spend for two people would be anywhere between $50-$60 with coffees. Beer, White and Rose starting from $6.

Came here after a run on Saturday morning - the cafe was cozy and staff was welcoming. Everything on the menu were available all day so there were many options to choose from. We got a CAB burger, the Farmhouse Omlette, and a big breakfast.

The coffees and food were served promptly. Overall the meal was tasty, the CAB burger looked very hearty, layered with many ingredients.

Located just a stone’s throw from the beautiful bays of North Sydney on bustling Blues Point Road is Billi’s Cafe, a relaxed homey spot serving up an array of delicious breakfast and lunch favourites. We visited Billi’s for brunch on a sunny Sunday morning and couldn’t get enough of the mouth-watering menu options and idyllic location.

Been here for the first time with my friend, it was great! I ordered Mocha for the coffee and I love it! I also tried their Fish&Chips, it is so crispy! The place is nice for take a picture as well, so this is the best choice for cafe in Mc Mahons Point!

This is the second time I have been to this cafe.
The coffee was better than last time and large size was really large. But they charge 75c more for the mug.
They have new added items to the menu.
The pumpkin soup was good for a cold winter morning. The portion of smoky baked beans was large. The big breakfast was ok.
It’s ok that they charge 10% more on public holidays but I just didn’t appreciate that they didn’t inform you until you questioned your bill.

Old terrace turned cafe, Billis is a cute little cafe perfect for a breaky / brunch outting. Featuring both indoor and outdoor seating for those nice summer days or those colder not so nice days. The menu offers a variety of options from tradtional crowd pleasers like big breaky, eggs benny, or seasonal fruits. Billis branches out as well, featuring dishes inspired by international cuisine such as their Moroccan corn fritters.

This cafe has Such Great atmosphere, loved the pulled pork burger and sweet potato fries. Perfect place to go for weekend brunch! The outdoor seatings are great. I would definitely come back again

Bircher Muesli ($11.90) was beautifully presented, muesli was creamy and fruit provided a nice freshness to the dish. Well balanced and my favourite of the day. Nordic Smoked Trout ($17.90) needed a bit more smokiness and seasoning to hit the heights that I was expecting but a nice dish nonetheless. The plating of the House Made Moroccan Corn Cakes ($17.90) was inspired and I loved the gorgeous pomegranate molasses served with it. More spice would have been appreciated, especially given the word Moroccan in the title of the dish. Tropical Frappe ($6.90) was cool and refreshing. Peppermint Tea ($4.50) smelt divine and I loved the design on the pottery.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

My thanks to Billi’s Cafe and CPM Online Marketing Agency for the invite.

‘The Mediterranean’ brunch dish is worth returning for just by itself!! Stacked sourdough with roast tomato, halloumi, poached eggs with pesto and balsamic reduction. SO GOOD!!! Gorgeous area too with heaps of street parking (always a plus).

Really enjoyed our time at Billi’s Cafe, first and foremost the ambiance was really good, the staff was really warm and friendly and most importantly the food was great!

Situated in one of the most beautiful, picturesque locations around Sydney, Mc Mahons point, you will find Billi’s Cafe. In and old terrace house, you can sit indoors or out and enjoy your meal in a serene environment. Serving honest, wholesome food, this vegan friendly cafe has a menu curated by Chef Tom Walton (of the Bucket list Bondi) to suit all dietary requirements. The food tastes as good as it looks.

If you're looking for a good brekkie feed that is worth your dollar definitely need to look out for Billi's cafe. Definitely would try the porridge and breakfast bruschetta! Plus who doesn't love a sneaky morning champagne.

Cosy cafe in Sydney McMahons Point. Delicious breakfast and lunch menu. Loved the setting, art, and the cottage feel to the place. Recommend for a good coffee or a weekend brunch.

What an awesome cafe;
Great location, very chilled and beautiful street just minutes away from the bridge.
The cafe is a great location with indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for a great day.
The service was exceptional with friendly staff and a great variety in the menu.
Quick service and great food, the shroom burger was delightful!
Loved this cute cafe located in North Sydney. Staff is very friendly and helpful explaining the menu, the atmosphere is cozy with nice seating options indoors and outdoors. We decided to start by sharing a Bircher Muesli and some coffee. Then, we were amazed by their delicious Shroom and Cab burgers (seriously, you need to try that sweet chilli mayo!).

We went there on a Sunday and found plenty of parking spots available so that's always a good plus. Can't wait to go back soon!

Loved this place! Really cozy, friendly staff and lots of healthy options. Billi's Cafe is vegan friendly! They have options and adaptions for vegans, vegos & dairy free folks so it's a place where everyone can enjoy a meal!Located a mere 5-minute walk from North Sydney Station, this dainty cafe will surely win you over! DISHES NOT TO BE MISSED: Shroom Burger, Goodness Bowl & Billi's Breakfast Bruschetta. Loved the hipster and Mediterranean as well!

Nice place located in North Sydney on a quiet and cute street. I wouldn’t say they do special gourmet food, but if you are after something simple and cozy- this place is definitely worth a try.
Food is good, service fast and friendly. I would name everything they do as a “comfort” .
Huge thumbs up for many options for parking around.
We went here occasionally and didn’t regret. I liked my Mediterranean breakfast with salmon, however they could do better with their toast. But, as I said, it’s more like homemade food in here, then a gourmet menu.
My husband loved his Hipster breakfast with a few sides, finished everything in 15 minutes.
Coffee is great though.
I would say- give it a try xx

We've been here a few times for brunch on weekends. Tried a few things on the menu although we tend to order the big breakfast a lot. Yes the service can be slow especially when it's busy but we usually have a table outside and it's a nice place to chill. The food is good, the portions are filling and the prices are not too bad here compared to other places for a big breakfast.
Mema
The coffee is always great! One my favourite places to go on the weekend. Lovely little shop, food is delicious, staff friendly and price for what you get is reasonable. The atmosphere is laid back definitely place for a Sunday brekky 😊

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I attended breakfast here last Sunday with a friend and my partner, it was meant to be a quick bite to eat as we were meeting a friend at the Olympic pool. I was absolutely appalled by this cafe and I have never left somewhere so angry, we waited 50 minutes for avo on toast and a bacon wrap, when I asked what the hold up was she said that everyone ordered at once and there was a rush, I looked around and there were about 8 people there. I then said it would have been nice to be told this when we order, she gave me so much attitude after that I couldn't catch my breath. When the food did come out she slid it over to me and said there we go, not so sorry for the wait or thank you for being patient. I then approached her and said im upset about the services and the wait on the food and would appreciate some recognition on this, she actually started arguing with me I couldn't believe what was going on. My partner hates any confrontation so I had to leave it and when the bill came nothing was deducted and no apology, we left angry and hungry because I couldn't finish my meal due to the shock of the whole experience. Advice never go here. I wish I got the name of the women, she was shot with dark hair and had an accent I believe maybe Brazilian.

I came here for breakfast with my partner on New Year's Day. While the food was serviceable, the service was appalling; we waited 15 minutes before getting a waiter's attention, and then halfway through my partner's order, he, without saying a word to us, broke off and left us to take another table's order. He never came back or explained himself, and we were only served when we got another waiter's attention. We were frankly stunned at how rude the waiter was in leaving mid-order.
Then while we were waiting for food, another waiter who was evidently attempting to source cutlery for another table came over to ours, and (again without saying a word to us explaining his behaviour), just took our cutlery and napkins without asking to give to the other table, so that when our food came we had no cutlery. It was like something out of Fawlty Towers. I understand it was a busy morning and the cafe was understaff and was having to manage resources carefully but there's no excuse for the rudeness of cutting a patron off or taking their cutlery, and especially no excuse for explaining or apologising for what was going on.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, not pretentious, friendly attentive staff. Good choice of breakfast options. The mediterranean breakfast was great. Def good place to start the weekend !

Took mum for brunch, had fish and chips and the vegg brekky. Portions are very generous. The vegg brekky was really good, lots of variety and the eggs were perfectly poached. Would come back again, especially for the service, waitress was really friendly and welcoming!
Emma
Service was quick but a little too quick because I bought a salad and it wasn't fresh at all. Made me feel sick within moments of eating it and the portion of meat was tiny. Won't go back.
Dona Saldanha D'souza
The service was great, the girls there were really lovely. I just went in to do a takeaway on a Tandoori chicken Sandwich and after I drove off, I realised that the chicken wasn't cooked well, parts of it were still raw!!! :/ too hard for me to drive back and find a parking spot again...

All day breakfast menu on the weekends is absolutely what the doctor ordered, and this cafe delivered in style! Excellent portion size and good coffee, with their seats in the sun outside, makes this cafe a popular spot amongst strong competition in the area. Staff are friendly and service is good; a good all round performance!
Andrew
Good little cafe on blue point road. Good food portions and the coffee was good too. The service was a bit slow and seemed confused. All in all, not a bad place to have breakfast.
Warning:- you must be really hungry as portion sizes are huge!
Carla B
Had vegetarian breakkie and really like it! Coffee is really good too. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable!
Will certainly come back.

Pretty poor. Called in today. The food was ok but the beverages we ordered were unacceptable. The coffee was burnt and oily which separated from the soy milk in the piccolo we ordered. The chai tea I ordered was undrinkable. If you think that placing a weak tea bag in a large fancy pot with a dash of soy is what a modern day pot of chai is, then you'll be losing more customers than the two you lost today.

Encore!. I went here with my wife on Friday evening as I recently bought vouchers, and ordered Southy Chicken and Shroom burger. For drinks we went for Choc milkshake and Strawberry milkshake. Sides were a server of potato fries and sweet potato fries.

The experience:

We started off with milkshakes as we waited for the burgers to come by.. There was more milkshake than we could ever drink, but it was delightful to sip on it. A tad bit sweet for my liking, but was nevertheless, flavoursome.
Then came the burgers and the fries. We enjoyed the sweet potato fries more than the normal potato ones, and both serves of fries had flavour.
Southy chicken was to my liking, bit on the spicy side with juicy chicken. Shroom burger made a great tasting meal with generous amount of Haloumi cheese enhancing the mushroom flavours. The candle on the table added to the nice summer evening experience, and we headed home, with a happy heart and stomach.

Verdict: Look no further if you need a burger place to be your port of call.. A homely setting with a nice crew to look after you certainly is a breath of fresh air from the commercial diners.

Thanks Liam and the team.. :)

Really yum!. Billi's is a colourful little café, and had a nice, retro atmosphere. The burger I ordered (beef and bacon) was very tasty, and I had a chocolate milkshake served in the traditional large metal cup which still had blobs of icecream floating in it - so yummy!! Really enjoyed the meal and the service was quick and friendly. Would definitely eat there again.

Cafe's like this only stay in business because of the location and what a shame. Unfortunately there is nothing any better around & irritating if you need a coffee early in the morning and nothing else is open. I have told myself the last couple of times "this is the last time i even consider this place" and this time i mean it no matter how desperate i am for anything!!
Previous cafe owners did a much better job.
Overpriced basic food, place & staff lack personality and enthusiasm to be there.
Gracie Lou
My favourite cafe in McMahons Point... The best service with the best food & drinks! Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Try the Benedict or a wrap! And wam juice to drink!
Chrisowen1
The service is great and the food is top notch, perfect for a early morning breky! Perfect place to pull up a seat, read the paper and watch the world go by,the staff actually know what they're talking about! I love the place and will keep coming back!get the Billi's breakfast wrap!
Diana
Best eggs Benedict around. Why go there? To enjoy a leisurely breakfast outside on the sidewalk on the weekends. But most of all because they do the best eggs Benedict I have tasted so far on the lower North Shore. Good coffee, too.
Service could be a bit quicker. And, as a word of caution, try to avoid having to use the toilets if at all possible - not a good experience.
Heyuinthebushes
Awesome cafe! Great friendly and fun staff. I have been going there for a while now and not once has the meal taken too long or arrived not as I ordered.
Billis Cafe is definitely the new place to get good wraps around NS!

Great food great staff, cute owner.

Poor service, bad attitude. Went here on New Years Day. Ok, it was busy, as it turned out too busy. Long wait to order followed by long wait for food. One of our meals was incomplete and not great quality. When I mentioned this when paying (in full) I was made to feel like I should give them a break. Guys, service is key and when the customer makes a justifiable complaint the correct response is "sorry, we should have done better". Lost me as a customer, but I don't think you care.
Amy
Have been here once before and experienced a very burnt coffee. Decided to give it a second chance, after ten minutes with staff only starring at us and no communication or welcoming recieved we decided it is no longer a local cafe we wish to go to. However my place up the road, still packed we recieved service within two minutes. Worth the walk :)

Friendly efficient service, good coffee, tasty food and lovely outdoor seating. Huge all day breakfast menu as well as plenty of other choices, definitely a standout on Blues Point Rd.

Heard this place is finally under new management so we'd give it another chance. We're locals and went here a while back and it was awful. The staff were great, fast and smiling. Coffee is pretty good and the food was amazing. We had the baked eggs and wild mushrooms. Looking forward to our next visit as there's several other dishes i can't wait to try. Highly recommended

Great cafe! Service was spot on, as was the fresh juice! Very nice to find a good cafe in the area

NEW OWNER - FANTASTIC CAFE. As a local of McMahons Point I am so happy that Billi's has changed hands and been renovated. The service was spot on - we ate here on Saturday, and the food was great. Very cheap for the quantity, quality and the area in general. Its great to have Billi's back in good hands!

THE WORST CAFE EVER!!!. Went there last Sat morning for a brunch, the foods were VERY ordinary nothing special. However the service was EVEN worse!!! The chinese waitress was so rude! not even a smile on her face. My coffee was still half-full and she took it away without even asking! When I chased up, she did not even say a thing, yes NOT even a sorry from her! Honestly I would score its Service a 0. Definitely not recommended to anyone! Will I go back? ..... probably next life...Good luck to the people thinking about going to this cafe
Micmic9
I SINCERELY HOPE THAT YOU WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING....!! I don't know about the food as we didn't get the chance to eat. After waiting for 50 minutes we ha enough. Not mention that lady owner who gave the worse service. She basically would not let us go as "food is waiting to e served" . She basically went off at us because we were not patient enough...!! Guys please think twice before going!!!

Bret. Have recently moved into the area and this is the best cafe for both food and service on the strip. the bacon and eggs are brilliant.shall be returning often.

Best breakfast in McMahons Pt. Been going here for years. I live in the Sydney CBD and catch a ferry across to McMahons Pt wharf and then stroll up Blues Pt Rd to Billis. I always get the Big Breakfast. Great coffee. Totally recommend a seat outside and watch the world go by. Excellent lunch selection too. Service is always quick and courteous

A very friendly relaxed local cafe. Whether you want a coffee or brunch or a full lunch, you will be made welcome and receive great service.
North Shore Diner
Avoid this place. We are locals and have stopped in a couple times to give it a chance. Horrible service and below average food. A table near us, who were there for a very long time, asked very politely how much longer their food might be and an obviously cranky older woman, owner?, told them they just started cooking it. She said this as if they were bothering her. This table had been there before we sat down and we had already waited 35 min for our lunch. When they stated they needed to catch a plane she told them that they should have never sat down at lunchtime if they expected to catch a plane. They asked once more later, received some verbal abuse and then left without ever receiving their food. Our lunch came about 45 min after we ordered it. Burger could barely pass as average and the fries were stale. had a hard time getting someone to bring tomato sauce. $41.00 for two average lunches. Save your time and money.

Owner chucked a mental. Beware of talking to the old lady owner. A passing mention regarding smaller servings of toast was met with abuse, swearing and personal humiliation in front of other customers. When I asked to look at the bill before paying she said if I didn't pay immediately she would call the police.
Why so aggressive at 9 am on a lovely Sunday morning.
Needless to say I will not return. By the way, we were overcharged with extra items.
Reet
I didn't even have time to open my mouth.... ...and the owner went off on me! I stepped marginally through the door nearly at closing time and she snapped and said: "We're closed!" I was only going to buy some take-away cake!

I walk past this cafe every day and it's nearly always empty, now I know why and that the reviews are right. It was the only time I've ever been in there and will be the only time I ever will...until they change management.
Caffeineholic
Poor coffee and pretty average food. But the real surprise is the paranoid nature of the staff. Spend more time on food and service and less time complaining to customers about negative reviews!
Heather81
The owner needs to get her head checked. Tried this place about 8 or so times for breaky as its our local- the food here is good, so we forgave the bad service, but then we couldnt forgive THE OWNER. None of the waitresses speak much english. So the bad service is generally because of a language breakdown, which is slightly forgivable. What I cant forgive is the rudeness of the owner, who is not the most intelligent person in the world and who cant keep her cool in any slightly difficult situation. I worked hospitality when I was at UNI many years ago- and I can tell you I was better at serving and dealing with difficult customers than she is- and I was only in my early 20's!! I have seen her have a go at her staff many times...I am sure there would be a high turnover at that place. If she didnt own the place- she would have been fired already.
Diner
'D' for disappointing. I have just visited Billi's Cafe....never to return again. I've been there several times now (stupid me) with the view to giving them the benefit of the doubt. I have never ever experienced such rude waitresses! When pleasantly asked for another bottle of water she responded with a 'huff'! If you fancy going just for a laugh to see how bad service can really be, oh and the food is far below average, go ahead, but I warned you, as have all the other reviewers. Disappointing.
Heather W
Great food! Great service! Salmon was delicious. Highly recommend.
Michelle V
Nice location for our Sunday brekkie, sitting out on the wide footpath overlooking the street. Overpriced for the basic food on offer, but nice enough food. We had no cranky old ladies to contend with (seems the old lady owner is almost legendary with her bad service) but even the young waitresses could be a bit friendlier. Commercial radio was blaring where we sat down, and we almost walked out because of this alone, but thankfully a waiter turned it over for us. Coffee was good (if but lacking raw sugar, only white available) and the Swiss muesli was tasty, although I was a bit uncertain about the fluoro pink yoghurt on top. A fairly average cafe experience all in all, but certainly not the worst.
DJY
Great food with frendly service, the best breakfast in Sydney and dinners are excellent too! Highly recomended

Love the Food - service is dodgy. Every single time i've been to Billi's cafe i've always loved the food and the atmosphere - but the older woman (i think she's the owner) who waits on the tables need to smile a little....she's always abrupt and cranky - we love going there - as long as she's not serving us....

Just called to see if they have improved their service - and the old lady hung up on me ......hmmm i guess the bad service at Billi's lives on ! ! !
Drew
Excellent food and great service. I have just moved into the area and have visited Billi's cafe a few times in the last couple of weeks. I always let the manager Craig decide what i'm going to eat for the evening. I've had a number of dishes that have all been great. The service is brilliant and all the staff are very friendly. This is going to be great when the summer arrives as it's got a great outdoor area. I would reccomend this cafe/restaurant to anyone.
DD2009
Disgraceful place. I have just had THE most appalling experience at Billi's on Blues Point Road. Aside from the almost inedible food and stark surroundings, the service was the worst I have ever received in my entire life.

My friend could not eat her greasy burger and anaemic fries, so dared to mention to the 'mature' waitress/cashier that she didnt enjoy the food (which should have been noted when 90% of food was still on plate when they cleared away). The woman went absolutely mental and started yelling abuse at us. I intervened and mentioned customer service and was immediately on the receiving end of a variety of expletives, which involved a very impolite way of telling us to leave the premises.

The said senior waitress also yelled at us to 'go back to where you came from' (we're British). She need have no worries there. I would never consider returning to such a dive.
TC
Don't go there!. If you like rude service, bad food and a grotty atmosphere then go to Billie's Cafe in Blue Point Road, North Sydney! When I commented about the bad food, the old lady swore at me very loudly, telling me and my friends to leave and never go back. That's a laugh, even if you paid me a million dollars I would never grace the front door of that awful place again!
I Live To Eat
Food was very ordinary and boring and when one if my friends told the owner we did not like the food the owner became very angry and said we where ridiculous and told us to get out and never come back! We where gobsmacked and I have never received such bad service in my life.
Kt9103
Even though it was very busy time we were surprised how poor the service was. Once we were finally noticed, we had to fetch our own menus. Service was unsmiling and unfortunately we were seated with a view into a dirty kitchen.
