Popped in here for a quick coffee before a meeting. Was pleasantly surprised by the VERY friendly service. Not fake friendly, really nice people working there.
It was a windy day but I said I'd like to sit outside because I had some phone calls to make (I didn't want to disturb everyone inside). They brought my coffee out, and a bottle of water, and one of the staff (an older gentleman) came and wiped my table as it said it was dusty from the wind.
I also had some cake (maybe banana bread). Very nice too.
Highly recommend this place....I'll certainly be back when I'm in that part of town again.

A comfortable space with a very interesting menu. Came here for breakfast and a coffee a couple times now and both experiences were exceptional.
What I love about this place is that everything is homemade(you have to try their brownies!) and the ingredients are high quality and usually locally sourced.
Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating.
I tried their truffle scrambled eggs and their granola. You can expect their serving sizes to be filling and worth the money.

Sally's serves a nice breakfast and good coffee. The service is friendly from slightly quirky staff. Great scrambled eggs with chorizo and reasonable prices for a cbd Cafe.
I had breakfast at Sally's Kitchen while on a business trip for training. I choose the porridge with vanilla bean yoghurt, honey and banana.
Both the coffee (I got a little brownie sample too) and food were spot on, really tasty. Massive serving of porridge - I barely scraped the surface. Good value for money. Relaxed atmosphere. Mellow and pleasant service.

1. Avocado on toast with lime - the use of lime instead of lemon makes the flavour way better, the avocado was fresh and you can choose two slices or one slice
2. Coffee - great smooth coffee, way better than the coffee at Marriott hotel breakfast down the road

Absolutely loved breakfast here. Even the simple things they do so well. The mince on toast was rich and tasty. The mushrooms on toast were great, seasoned beautifully and cooked to perfection. Friendly and efficient service.
Went here for a late breakfast today. Ordered the smoked salmon, cream cheese bagel with capers ($15). Was very nice. The staff were very friendly and personable which made us really comfortable and relaxed. A nice little spot with a welcoming vibe!
A rainy Saturday morning leads to this convenient and well rated cafe. Comfortable tables, clean, temperature on point.
We both had lean mince on toast. Tasted delicious, looked about as good as you can expect given what it is. Coffee well made and quickly.

Have been here for breakfast a number of times (which I rate highly) but recently visited for dinner on a Friday night. Lovely spot with friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend the gnocchi and the Thai chicken satays.

Great little bistro offering seasonal dishes, tucked in the busy Melbourne CBD. Out of several dinners, I had their braised beef (succulent beef with creamy mash), gnocchi with napoli sauce and mozzarella (overall, a really fresh and warm dish), and mushroom risotto (al dente rice, but lack of salt and some mushrooms are gritty). Service was friendly and welcoming.
Sally is a great place for breakfast, the food are delicious, made with the freshest ingredients. They make an awesome coffee. The waitress are very friendly and attentive. Lovely way to spend Saturday morning breakfast. Pity they don't open on Sunday.
Sally's kitchen warranted me making a Zomato account just to review it. The best service I've ever had. The owner here (i'm assuming the lovely lady's name is Sally) has given me the most wonderful service I have ever had in a cafe (and I've been to plenty) every time I come in. They were willing to make something completely off-menu for me the first time in and it still tasted as if it was an on-menu dish and were very reasonable with the price they charged me. To top it all off, the coffee is my favourite on this side of the town. Not to mention the great decor and aura of the place. Awfully lucky to have this place just around the corner from my work, I will be back regularly!
Good coffee and great service. Not knowing the opening hours, I walked in half an hour or so after breakfast hours while the kitchen was meant to be closed. They still offered me the breakfast menu. The staff were friendly and the food came out quite quickly!
The one time i didnt check for a café's opening time would be on our 13th month anniversary, wanted to go to 65 degrees but it was closed. Sally's Kitchen was a few steps away we definitely didnt walk away disappointed (though i would've preferred to try their lunch menu which isn't available on Saturdays). Slightly on the pricier side compared to other café i've been to though.. Or maybe i'm just a cheapo.
Service was pleasant, but frightfully slow. The table we habitated was teeny tiny and the plates were huge. Maybe that's supposed to be charming but somebody needs to do their math. My eggs benny (for that is what they were, regardless of the fancified language) was ok. Sauce was tasty but lacking that special something. One of the eggs was slightly overcooked. Ciabatta is not my favourite base for eggs benny, and I don't enjoy sharp edges on my toast in any case. I have now decided that panchetta is not for me - it's all stringy, how is that enjoyable So o

Sally’s Kitchen - My New Best Friend. I walk past Sally’s Kitchen every on the way to get my daily caffeine fix and occasional breakfast but boy am I glad I stopped in this morning. I wasn't expecting much when I ordered what appeared to be a rather plain breakfast of tomatoes on toast with prosciutto. However, what I received was anything but. Yes the dish was simple but the quality of ingredients (sweet baby tomatoes, soft and flavorsome prosciutto) made it one of the most memorable breakfasts I have ever had.
Melbourne's little gem!. Perfect place to go for a quiet drink in amongst the bustling city centre. The design of the place is super stylish, inviting and has such a relaxed feel about it. I'm in love with the awesome lighting in there and now want the same lights in my house! And I think it's the only place in Melbourne that I have been to that serves you proscuitto wrapped around grissini, presented beautifully alongside some sardines as a FREE aperitif!! I had the duck risotto with white truffle which was YUM!! The staff were brilliant and you can see that they obviously enjoy working there. I'd be there every night after work if I was working in the city!! Great place to meet up with someone or a group of friends whether it be for a drink or a meal. I'll definitely be going back there!
Highly recommend. Been here quite a few times and the food is always includes beautiful ingredients and is delicious, and the atmosphere's great too. Special mention to the chef's chocolate marshmallow cake with custard ice cream
Gluten Free Options. Travelled to Melbourne with my sisters and one is gluten intolerant, this place caters well and my sister said it was the best breakfast she has had in a long time.

Like a warm mothers hug on a cold and windy day. I was pacing back to work after a stressful meeting with piles of thoughts stacked in my mind, freezing winds whipping my face and heavy bags weighing me down.
I decided to duck into Sally’s Kitchen for a quick take away coffee and when I opened the door, a warm breeze filled with muffled, hearty voices blew into me and surrounded me like a warm mother’s hug.
Sally greeted me at the door with a big welcoming smile and invited me to enjoy one of her seats (which she was famous for) .. In declined her offer in my haste, quickly saying “no, just the coffee’s fine thanks”
While waiting for my coffee, Sally’s large couches started to look so inviting and I took a seat, which I melted into until my neck was completely rested and shoulders dropped into a state of comfort.
Then, while enjoying my feeling of being nurtured, big fluffy cloud-like banana muffins, lightly dusted in icing sugar waved hello to me from the counter and in less than 2 minutes (with a fluffly banana muffin in one hand and a hot mocha in the other), I had been completely transformed from a stressed out auto-bot, quickly racing on the rabbit wheel, to a peaceful human being, enjoying the peace and pleasure of life.
Thank you for making my day Sally’s Kitchen, you are a really special place.

Pleasant surprise. Was at this establishment last night, had a meal on the way to the comedy festival. We walked off the street so didn't know what to expect, but what a pleasant surprise. I had the croquettes, as I wasn't after a large meal, my partner had the curry. This place has quick service, a good wine and beer menu. Following our meal we decided on the panacotta for dessert, one of the nicest I've had in a while. This little place is not expensive, the service is great, friendly staff, give it a go when you're in town next for that quick meal before a show.
Singapore visitor. I come to Melbourne every few months and each time I come I just love visiting Sally's kitchen not only for the fantastically fresh food but the unbelievable coffee that has been made with just the right creme, milk, and temperature!! A gem of a cafe!!!

Highlight of our week!! A gorgeous lunch that was full of colour and flavour (grilled chicken caesar salad, crispy fried calamari with radicchio and french fries with aioli) & a cheeky glass of Stella Bella Sav Blanc. The staff were friendly & attentive and the meals came out swiftly. All this followed by delicious soy lattes and the BEST brownie slice we have ever consumed. Highly recommend.
Good Breakfast. I was staying nearby with the family and was looking to avoid the classic hotel buffet breakfast so we wandered up the road to an interesting looking cafe.
The food was very good, service was fast (but not too fast) and friendly.
I'll be quite happy to return here for breakfast in the future - as will the rest of the family.
Wondering down exhibition street I stumbled across Sally's Kitchen. Greeted by friendly service and really cost effective meals, this cafe is definitely one place I would consider attending again. I would recommend this venue to anyone who loves to sit back, relax and enjoy a great coffee with a great breakfast. P.s. love the little brownie next to the coffee! What a treat!

Nice food, great service. Just had a great lunch at Sally's Kitchen. My spring lamb and leek burger was delicious and so filling I didn't even eat half the generous bowl of fries that accompanied it!
What sets this place apart, though, was the service. Attentive but not intrusive and very polite... makes a nice change. Will be back.

Niw this is why Melbourne has a goid reputation for good service! As in out of towner I was standing outside Sally's looking at the breakfast menu that had some good take-away options. ''Sally" came out & ushered me inside out of the cold telling me that I could have anything I wanted take away. Before I knew it a had a warm chai latte in my hand, I was seated with the paper at a large wooden share table & my porridge with organic honey yoghurt & fruits was on the way. The gentleman beside me had his muffins just out of the oven delivered & I was on my way to having a mighty fine day thanks to Sallys Kitchen
I am still pretty amazed by the quality of the food.. Went down this morning for breakfast .. Organic ingredients make the difference. Defenetly matching high quality restaurant food at cheap price. And the coffee is sublime of course this is a cafe!!

Love Sally's Comfort Food. When I am in Melbourne Sally's Kitchen is where I head for lunch. The Braised Beef is tender and flavoursome. The Cauliflower and Truffle soup was stunning . Sally changes her soup reflecting seasonality of ingredients. Service is prompt and I always feel welcomed. If you are particular about your coffee Sally's Kitchen will fill you with joy and satisfaction because if there is one thing I hate it paying good money for crappy coffee. I even get a bag of it to take home.
The only place to eat over this side. A little gem. We have been coming at every opportunity for lunch because it is so delicious. Every single meal is delicious with an ever changing fresh menu. Great value for money.
My fave at the Lonsdale/Exhibition end of town. Yummy coffee and delicious brekkie & lunch menu. I recommend the avocado on toast or scrambled eggs & sausages for breakfast and the fish of the day or pasta for lunch. Delicious wine list to match the food.
Sweet tooth. Completely adore the brownies - huge serving (more like 4 slices) with a hint of mint. The hot chocolate is pretty good here too
Kitchy Kitchen. From the outside this place looked very dark and gothic, but once inside its nice and cosy. The food is well priced, for brunch David had the Ceaser Salad and I had the Truffled Eggs. Both were quite nice. The coffee art was quite good as well

First popped in on a super quick lunch break and had the most amazing chicken soup. A beautiful clear broth with vegetables and risoni, finished with fresh parsley. It was totally divine...mmmm!
For my second visit with friends, I ordered the steak with rosemary oil which was char-grilled to perfection, served with delicious french fries, aioli, and steamed spinach with lemon. My friends had the fresh home-made papardelle with duck ragout - sensational.
Sally is a wonderful hostess. My only slight criticism was the very limited range of desserts. We all would have squeezed in a dessert but nothing from the menu grabbed our attention.
5 stars! Can't wait to go again. Open for dinner on Thursdays and Fridays.

Love Sally and her kitchen. Sally's Kitchen is a real find and never disappoints.Whether I am grabbing breakfast on the run or settling in for lunch the food, ambiance and service is truly rewarding. Sally is so welcoming and all her staff are great. And the coffee and food are fabulous! This is not only rare at this end of town - but such a genuinely pleasurable experience is rare full stop.
This was a lovely find. Lots of character, and a laid back ambience. I ordered the porridge, which was just like Grandma used to make - creamy, warm, and a generous serve of creamy milk and yoghurt. My partner ordered the truffled eggs and pork sausages - lovely delicate flavours. Very enjoyable experience.
Nice place for breakfast. I originally had my heart set on Hardware Societe but couldn't be bothered waiting behind a group of 30 people mulling in Hardware Lane. So I took the second option which was Sally's Kitchen.
It was half full which suited me fine (did surprise me, thought it be also packed). The place is decked out nicely. I was served promptly and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the Truffled Scrambled Eggs and Pork Fennel sausages.
The only drawback is the eggs could have been cooked for about 1 minute more - slightly undercooked, I don't mind it but it might others. The sausages were the standout. My sense of smell has largely gone due to a cold so I couldn't pick up the truffle shavings.
The coffee was good - milky and smooth blend - lacked bitterness but nonetheless good. I like this place and would recommend this.
I accidentally picked the most expensive item on the menu 'truffle scrambled eggs' but even at $18, I was not disappointed. Super delish! Oh and great coffee! Perfect half-strength as requested. Will definitely be back.
A little gem. Sally's Kitchen is a terrific addition to the eating landscape in that part of Melbourne: a changing menu, some talented cooking and keen pricing. I love the house-made pasta and must say the coffee is a hit.

Had a fantastic eggs benedict with proscuitto and grilled asparagus. The staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere has been carefully designed and is inviting. These people are pros.

Hidden gem. Sally's kitchen is a gorgeous boutique cafe. Wonderful food thats ever changing and always amazing, beautiful staff, fantastic coffee (and I'm VERY fussy), and some delicious cocktails on thursday/friday nights.

Looking for a GF breakfast, I found Sally's. Limited GF on morning menu BUT the potato rosti with (not fatty) bacon and (perfect) poached egg gets 10/10.
Pretty decent. Had the bacon/egg sandwich. It was good and came with tomato relish. Only negative was the sourdough was burnt. Coffee was really good. I'd go back but there are cheaper options nearby of similar quality.

The best "œufs poché" I've ever eaten. It took less than 10 minute and the worker are friendly. Great place, best meal, not expensive, MUST Try.
