Best mocha and chocolate I’ve had in over 4 continents. Definitely worth a trip. Would be a regular if I was a Aussie living here!

OMG the chili chocolate is awesome! I only had a level 3 and it defo has a bite to it. Wish I bumped it up to 5 but for newbies go for level 3. Lovely service and cozy nook too. I forgot I was in the Melb CBD with the quietness here

Best hot milk chocolate can be found here. I came here alot for it. As for the rest of the things, especially sweets do not recommend them.
Faye K
Their hot chocolate is very nice and thick. Ice chocolate is nice as well. And you have a try their desserts.

Top little place. The quality of the chocolate here-Belgium, I believe-justifies the prices. ☕️ coffee (had a latte) was great. They have terrific gift boxed chocs as well. A little hard to find but they have a directional piece in the Royal arcade and on little Collins St. Trevor Powis Cohuna Victoria Australia 🇦🇺

Expensive but very nice, fabulous hot chocs (we tried dark & milk) dark was too full on for me but hubby loved it. Velvet chocolate cake was sooo good. Closest we've found to a great hot choc like we get at Nut Patch in Tas.
p.k.
The sticky date pudding was decent, but the almond cappuccino I ordered was really unsatisfactory; tasted like the milk was burnt. Service was also very lukewarm, bordering on rude. Was really disappointed with the entire experience.

Easily one of the nicest hot chocolates I've had. It is very rich and sweet, but I loved it. It's quite heavy, so I'd recommend sharing it.

Really bad service, The worst! We waited for more than one hour for our orders and in the minute that we finished drinking them, they invited us to leave the place! And they came 4 different times. Disgusting! I strongly don't recommend it!

I saw a groupon that advertised for this place for a recently and was in the area so decided to try it out today. I asked the lady at the counter if the deal for groupon was still available and she said yes, so I informed her that I have yet to buy the voucher and would step aside and buy one now, to which she agreed to let me do. 3 minutes later I came back with the voucher and showed it to the man at the counter (presumably the owner), who told me that it was only valid till 2pm with an expression of utter annoyance on his face. I asked him if it was possible to make an exception as I was just told by one of his staff members that I would be able to use it now, to which he responded with "she was wrong", looking at me like I should have known better than to ask anyone but him in the first place. Needless to say no attempt at an apology was made during this exchange.

Chokolait served rich, delectable chocolates and desserts. I’d been here a few times and every time it was a pleasant experience; the chocolate desserts were always thick, rich and creamy, and there were also some non-chocolate based desserts if you’d were after something lighter. Service was friendly, and it was usually pretty quiet and peaceful inside the cafe.

I have a sweet tooth and this place is just perfectly fit me🤗 The lava cake and sticky date pudding was incredible, not too sweet with greta texture. Would definitely come back soon!

The cheesecake was nice but the brownies really stole the show. They were thick and moist. - rich in flavour. The icecream balanced out the richness of the brownies. Simply delicious!!
Karen
Rich chocolatey flavour for the hot chocolate and great chocolates. It was really busy as you can see the tables were not cleaned and packed promptly so it looked messy. So maybe more staff?
Ruby
Chocolate cake is amazing!!! The woman is rude..

Super delicious! The matcha lava cake is the best! I highly recommend coming here.

A sad experience today. Well, I am a Big fan of the food and drinks provided at Chokolait since 2016. I have post pics of Pavlova from your shop many times on my social media. So, yes I love your food and everything. What happened today really hurts my heart as a loyal customer. I walked in your store around 1pm today, not many customers around and the tables are not full at all. Was writing my resume quietly by myself, and ordered an iced drink. I wouldn’t occupied the table for long if you had full tables, but given today’s condition, I decided to spend 2 hours there to do some writing. Then around 3pm the gentleman came and asked me to leave, said “ this is not an office”. So I left straight away. What I feel angry about is: because I love your food, it is exactly the reason why I chose to stay there and do some personal thinking. It is a relatively quite and comfortable space for me to spend some time by myself. So really, what the gentleman said is to push his customer away. Customers don’t just come to your shop to enjoy coffee, they also come to your shop to talk business, meet friends and do personal stuff. It is a GOOD thing for YOU that your store is the first place I can think about when I wish to spend some time alone , (just like how people like to spend some tome at any coffee shop/ Starbucks). So really, as a loyal customer who gave you feedback, who come to visit your shop once every couple weeks; who recommend this shop to her friends all the time, I feel REALLY UPSET.<br/>Again, it wasn’t a busy time, tables were not full. I wouldn’t use it as an “ office “ if there are people waiting for table. <br/><br/>Really sad. Not sure whether I would come back again. I am not sure whether the gentleman would see this comment, but this is my authentic thought. So if you want to reply and explain your opinion; please don’t bother to say something that sound official and meaningless. Because that is not helpful to me, and to you.<br/><br/>

After another session of zooming around my favourite shopping centre, it was time to rest my feet with a coffee and cake. I had a cappuccino which was nice and hot with just the right amount of froth on top. The Chokolait lava pudding - Hojicha Matcha took my breath away. In one word - yum! The pudding was soft and delicious. The lava filling was gooey, sweet and gave me enough energy for another round of shopping!<br/><br/>Mission accomplished!<br/>

The chocolate pavlova was so special and out of the world. The waitress gave us a very detailed explanation about the dessert and recommended some other desserts too. Would come back to try the others!

This winter has got me craving for hot chocolate. Recently visited @chokolaitfans to get my chocolate fix. Had to get the best of both worlds, the ice dark chocolate and a dark hot chocolate and it was good. Loved how creamy the dark hot chocolate was, and this is perfect for the dark choco lovers. The ice dark chocolate was nice and the extra chocolatw drizzle on the glass gave it a special touch.<br/><br/>

The tea set includes a variety of chocolate desserts as well as two drinks. The hot dark chocolate was so rich and creamy that it felt a bit too heavy for the last few sips. The three mini cakes were average and the few chocolates were just plain chocolate with nothing surprising inside. The highlight of the tea set was definitely the ice cream and the lava cake, especially when you pair them together! Overall, the chocolate from Chokolait wasn't bad but I don't think the quality of the tea set lives up the price tag.<br/><br/>follow my ig for more om and noms!<br/>ig: vienne_iu

Eating Happiness
Came to visit this cafe which specialises in chocolate desserts for dessert in the afternoon.<br/><br/>For two, we ordered:<br/><br/>- Sticky date pudding (for one): out of all three, the sticky date pudding was probably my favourite. The pudding itself was soft and definitely had a date taste to it. The Caramel sauce was what topped the dessert off, it was served warm which complimented the pudding well, but also when poured on top of the ice cream tasted especially nice with the warm and cold together. The sauce can be a bit sweet though, so be careful of how much you pour at once.<br/><br/>- matcha lava cake: to be honest, when I read that it was a ‘lave’ cake, I expected the lava to be on the inside of the cake and ooze out when cut open, however this matcha lava cake had the lava poured on top of it, with nothing in the centre. This dessert is perfect for people who don’t like overly sweet desserts, and the ice cream had the choice of either black sesame or match. The cake itself tasted quite standard, but still delicious, it was a little dense though, but it seemed as if the cake had been made like that in purpose. The strawberry garnish was also nice as it cut through the heaviness of the whole dessert.<br/><br/>- iced fruit tea: with first taste, this is not your normal fruit tea. This one is very tangy and although looks like it’s all foam, it’s actually a whole cup of it. Although it was quite sour, it actually worked out quite nicely as overall the desserts here are on the sweet end and this tea can cut through it perfectly.<br/><br/>Overall, this place is definitely somewhere for a chocolate lover and especially a chocolate dessert lover. Although some of its desserts aren’t the most amazing ones you can find compared to other places, it is still worth a try!

It was a cold winters evening in Melbourne and we felt like a hot chocolate. Although we were able to get a table for 4 here we didn't find the service was great as we got asked to leave pretty quickly. $8 hot chocolate wasn't really worth it in my opinion.

The Choc pavlova is to die for..its not too sweet and unique flavour with choc, berries soft fresh cream. Expensive, yes but great service and lovely desserts.

My dessert happy place! I try to visit at least once a fortnight if not weekly. All desserts are delicious, but my absolute favorites are the Chokolait Pavlova and Tiramisu Cake. <br/> <br/>The Chokolait Pavlova is bouncy and slightly chewy. The layers are sprinkled with dark chocolate, topped with thickened cream and fresh strawberries. The flavors are a rounded balance of sweet, bitter and tart, absolutely delightful. <br/> <br/>Tiramisu is rich and creamy, the coffee is not overpowering and chocolate coated coffee beans are a treat!

A very nice decoration inside and had a very strong chocolate scent once you walked into the shop. But quality of iced chocolate we had was not up to our standard. You can find Better iced chocolate elsewhere. We wanted to try out this chocolate place, but to be honest I would prefer Lindt over chokolait. The iced chocolate seemed like it had some coffee taste to it, we brought this to attention to one of the staff members and they were very defensive about it, so we stopped drinking and left. Quality of service and drink, not what we hoped for. So it was an unfortunate sad experience for us.
Gloria Yu
Love it! I mentioned to their staff that I love the semi frozen raspberry mousse and then they gave another small one for me just because I like it!

Went in with high expectations and left disappointed. First time at this place after having walked past many times and was intrigued by its exterior aesthetics. Walked in and my partner sat down in one of the many tables available as I went up to order. Instead of a “Good afternoon, how are you?”, I received a “Sorry you guys can’t sit there as it can get pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon.” I looked around and was amused as all I saw were empty tables bar one which was taken by a couple (photos attached). We reluctantly moved, in courtesy of the 30-40 odd customers that were anticipated to rush into a chocolate shop on a Sunday afternoon (they didn’t). Onto the food, the $10 iced chocolate was not great and the cake was average at best. Overall the experience was a disappointment, the only reason I give this a one star was because I couldn’t give it none. Under par food although disappointing is understandable, but accompanied with under par customer service, this experience at Chokolait would be my first and last time.

This is one of my favorite place for my sweet tooth cravings. My favorite menu is the classic Chokolait Pavlova. The texture of the pavlova is so soft. It is covered with vanilla cream that are not too sweet. Then it is filled with the bitter dark chocolate and loads of strawberries. It is so well balanced of sweet, bitter, and sour.<br/><br/>The matcha pavlova were not as good as the Chokolait Pavlova. The matcha cream is weird in taste. But for those who are a big fan of matcha might like it.
Good Food Good Mood
I was invited to experience the rainbow pavlova in all its colourful glory and was not disappointed. Not only is it visually stunning but all layers are actually a different delicious flavour. I loved the mango semi freddo accompaniment too. <br/><br/>Another thing you simply must try is the rainbow smoothie. This tastes like a rainbow paddle pop and definitely came with a joyful hint of nostalgia for me. Such fabulous creativity here and we can’t forget about the delectable chocolate ganache truffles. I ate way too many of these little lovelies and they were just heavenly. <br/><br/><br/>Original review<br/>I was invited to Chokolait today to try their new winter desserts and let me start by saying it was one of the most decadent and indulgent chocolate experiences I’ve had. The rich milk hot chocolate was a smooth sensation and I absolutely loved the warm chocolate lava cake. <br/><br/>I definitely recommend getting the vanilla ice cream with this rather then the chocolate to compliment the intense chocolatey flavour. Chocoholics rejoice this will be your happy place, if you are a not a huge chocolate fan well first of all you’re crazy but secondly never fear as there is a huge matcha and roasted green tea range to suit those with less of a sweet tooth, everyone’s happy!
Ahh_Blueberry
My friends and I finally had the chance to try the Rainbow Pavlova from Chokolait, and it was delicious!! Not only does it look very aesthetic, it didn’t taste overly sweet, which really pleased us. The texture of the cake was similar to spongecake, and was perfectly complemented by the cream and fresh fruit on top. There were also two dollops of semifreddo (mango and raspberry), both of which were very nice, but I personally liked the raspberry one better. <br/><br/>I’m definitely looking forward to coming back for other desserts next time!

Had a great experience at Chokolait! Tried their Matcha Pavlova which is to die for. Melts in your mouth and not too sweet either. Will definitely be back.

Fluffy Pavlova<br/><br/>The signature dish of Chokolate is the "Rainbow Pavlova" surprisingly it wasn't too sweet like I assumed, plated beautifully with sort and fruits this dish is an epic dessert.
Willtravelforfood17
A nice place to come and sit with friends and have leisurely drinks and dessert. The desserts are very chocolatey and there is a good variety of them.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Original Pavlova - Alternating layered textures of chocolate and meringue, covered with thick cream and fresh strawberries, drizzled with milk chocolate. Not your usual pavlova. It's one with the lot! Best thing is that it's not too sweet that will make you cringe, it'll just make you crave for more.<br/> <br/><br/>The rainbow pavlova is so pretty but couldn't really taste the different flavours in it. It tasted just like the original pavlova but the presentation was really pretty.

One of the most creative dessert joints in Melbourne! We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak of the Rainbow Pavlova for spring! With a different flavour for each colourful layer , this pavlova is definitely the most creative pavlova I've ever seen. <br/><br/>Thanks for having us and we look forward to future creations!
Vivian
4.5<br/><br/>We were lucky enough to attend the VIP launch for the new rainbow pavlova ! The event was very well co-ordinated and a lot of fun, the chocolate here has always been a guilty pleasure of mine and I was thrilled to see so many scattered around for tasting. The pavlova was unlike any I have tried before, the different coloured layers were all their distinct flavour, I really enjoyed this concept and of course the dish <br/><br/>Thanks for having us !

There's two things that I admire in dessert, creativity and technique. Chokolait has this in spades.<br/><br/>This pastry chef / chocolatier has worked all over Asia and you can see that in his outputs, but he also knows his audience, which is at the Emporium, which has a high throughput of Asian customers.<br/><br/>I was invited to the launch of the rainbow pavlova. Ive never seen or had a rainbow pav before, so I was very curious. Each flavour was individually flavoured, but as a whole it was tasty. It was accompanied with a mango and berry semi freddo, stopped with white chocolate, chocolate gold balls and freeze dried berries. Technically brilliant, innovative, well done. A great take on an iconic Australian dessert.<br/><br/>The petit four cakes were particularly good too. Soft sponge, decent flavours and fillings - a plesant experience. The dark chocolate truffles were rich and decadent.<br/><br/>The interior is dark yet warm. It makes you forget that you are in a shopping mall. So if you want something sweet and you are in the CBD, you wouldn't do much wrong going into Chokolait.
Melbourne To Mouth
If you don’t stop by here and try not only their amazing new dessert, the rainbow pavlova, but also their huge array of chocolates - you’re seriously missing out. The time and effort that goes into each and every one of them really shows up in the flavour of each.<br/>The rainbow pavlova is something to definitely get your hands on though, each different color brings a different flavour making it a truly fun experience.<br/>A great spot for gifts too, for those who love the finer chocolates in life. <br/>Next time you’re at Emporium - treat your tastebuds when your feet are sick of shopping!
KnowingMelbourne
Absolutely love the chocolates and other desserts here. A lovely eatery in the very pretty emporium complex. Chokolait have just launched they’re Rainbow Pavlova and it is so lovely. Not too sweet despite the colours, it’s light and airy and well balanced. The mango mousse that comes on the plate was one of my favourite elements and the fresh berries really balanced the dish. Soooo good!<br/>Thanks for having us at your launch!
Hello. Imnikki
Chokoliat has just came up with one of the prettiest dessert that I have laid eyes on - the rainbow pavlova. With each layer represented by different flavours and colours, it was a sight to behold. I'm usually not a big fan of pavlova but I was amazed by how light and not overly sweet this was.<br/><br/>Not surprisingly, another offering from Chokoliat that wowed me was the chocolate truffles. So decadent and rich. The matcha mousse cake was delicious too, and I wished that I tried the rest of the mini cakes but I was saving my tummy for the pavlova!<br/><br/>The rainbow milkshake was another beauty. Fruity, and refreshing - it was not just pretty but also tasty.<br/><br/>Thank you for the invite!
Oj_always_eating
Chokolait is a gorgeous chocolate café located in Emporium shopping centre. I had the pleasure of being invited to visit there last night to try the new rainbow pavlova. It was so delicious – so light and fluffy! And the taste of the cream on the top was just beautiful. I love how the layers are all a different flavour. The matcha pavlova is also beautiful and something a bit different. The chocolate truffles are so rich and divine. A really beautiful café :-)
Eat_today_diet_tomorrow
We were invited to join their launch event of the new rainbow pavlova. We got to try their mini cakes, chocolate truffle, tropical rainbow smoothie and the new rainbow pavlova. <br/><br/>We really like the fact that each layer of the smoothie has different tastes. The pavlova was also yummy and not too heavy. <br/><br/>We also got the mini chocolate box to take home, the chocolate was amazing.
Espy Eats
We were invited along to Chokolait in the Emporium centre to try out their new rainbow themed desserts, namely the Rainbow Pavlova and the Tropical Rainbow Smoothies. These beautiful looking desserts have several layers of colour in each and while visually they looked stunning it’s also important to note that each layer was flavoured differently.<br/><br/>This meant that in the case of the tropical rainbow smoothie you could move your straw into a different layer in the drink and get a different taste.<br/><br/>The pavlovas where quad coloured and tall marshmallow style pavs with no crisp layer but some amazing decorations and additional including raspberry and mango semifreddo, fresh fruits and other textual elements. We watched these being assembled and it was fascinating to see the effort that went into every dish. much less effort went into consuming these tasty dishes which was the perfect size for sharing between two.<br/><br/>As well as these new desert we also got to sample the chocolate ganache style truffles and multi layered slices which were rich and delicious.

Chokolait’s dark chilli hot chocolate is simply the best hot choc in Melbourne. (If you are into chilli in your hot choc). Silky, dark, full flavoured perfection from the first sip to the last. The service can be a bit frosty but that doesn’t detract from my enjoyment
Gourmet Explorer
This review is only for its hot chocolate drink. That’s the only thing I ordered in it. The environment is good, but the hot chocolate is too sweet and not much chocolate taste. The cashier doesn’t seem happy and make you feel she doesn’t like you.
Linda
It was all ok....ok.<br/>An extensive menu that was largely overpriced, with unfortunate “ok” flavours to back it. The key stand out is it has a good enough menu on offer for late night sweet hunters that has a comfortable environment for you to have a relaxed catch up. So it checks the boxes.
Melbourne Digest
Slightly coerced into a trying out Chokolait's matcha lava cake with chocolate mousse and Houjicha ice cream. Thankful I was sharing the dish as it was quite substantial. The matcha oozes out of the lava cake which is very filmable!
Jennifer
They have amazing ice chocolates at this place! I also tried some of their gelatos and they were all delicious. I love their variety of chocolate products too. Overall, my experience at this place have all been good so far 😊
Connie
The matcha shake I had here was one of the best! Loved the whites chocolate in there as well ! The matcha fondant was also really moist and flavourful however the only let down was that it did not ooze as much as I thought it would
Sylv
Finally had the chance to have a taste of this matcha lava cake with chocolate mousse in little chocolate cups and a choice of either matcha, houjicha or black sesame ice cream, in this case I got houjicha 🍦 been seeing posts all about it on Facebook and instagram! It was definitely worth it, super delicious. Highly recommend 100%!!
Lauren Pinch
The matcha and hojicha lava pudding is one of my all time favourite desserts, so sad it's only available during winter! It's such an oozy cake, probably more than the chocolate flavour and the matcha sauce inside isn't overly bitter. Really delicious and perfect for the cold weather. Definitely coming back for another one before the end of the month!
Leony Christie
I tried the banana cake, it got caramel on the bottom.<br/>For the presentation, slightly disappointed because it seems not really well presented. <br/>My friend ordered an opera cake. It taste better than the banana one. I can taste the coffee and chocolate well balanced. <br/>The service was a little bit slow. We’ve waited for 20 mins for 2 cakes and 2 drinks. <br/>
Babybao
Located in the Emporium, we stumble past here by chance and it was not a regret. We loved all the desserts but my favourite was the Chokolait Pavlova and the Sticky date pudding. I have never liked pavlova until I tried the one from here. It’s best to share the desserts with a group of friends. Service was the only let down. Staff was not very helpful with recommendations.
Stelly
Came here after hearing about the limited edition Winter Warmers menu. I had my eye on the matcha & houjicha lava cake, however after browsing the menu I couldn’t help myself but also try The ‘World Famous’ Chokolait Pavlova, which is their signature dessert.<br/><br/>The pavlova looks very large and dense, however as soon as you cut through it you’ll realise that it’s actually light as a cloud! Super fluffy and airy, and very mildly sweet. The perfect amount of cream and drizzle of chocolate. We quickly devoured it!<br/><br/>The matcha & houjicha lava cake was amazing! It also comes with a small chocolate tart, and your choice of ice cream on the side (we chose houjicha). It’s rich, warm and the chocolate oozes our perfectly. Matcha flavour isn’t too overpowering, and the lava cake goes perfectly with the ice cream!<br/><br/>The staff are very friendly and the venue is cute. Tables are a bit on the small side and it can sometimes get a bit crowded. Overall, a really nice place to indulge in some decadent desserts!

Been here once a long time ago, the friendly chocolatier chef greeted us and was such a delight!<br/>I decided to come for a takeaway drink this afternoon, as the young girl at the register seemed unsure, so I tried to clarify and confirm with the "Barista" (an older lady) what exactly I wanted, but she dismissed me that she had to melt the chocolate first before making my long black mocha, like I haven't worked in the pastry for the past 5 years..<br/>I didn't get what I wanted and my keep cup was left with poorly mixed solidified chocolate stuck in clumps. Not going to bother next time.
Maria Condello
My daughter and I came for afternoon tea and we were very impressed with the delicious cakes and drinks. Staff were very kind and accommodating. <br/>We had the mud cake, which was very rich and decadent but exactly what a mud cake should be. The thickened cream was really good to have to help balance the rich cake. <br/>Great coffee and my daughter had a hojicha hot chocolate. We're not familiar with that flavour but it was delicious, kind of caramel, chocolate and matcha all mixed together. <br/><br/>It's a lovely spot for dessert if you're in the city and so convenient inside Emporium.
Sabby
Came here because of some gift vouchers, received two courses off the Choklait menu! Really lovely chocolate desserts served additionally with ice-cream and bite-sized chocolate pieces. Thoroughly enjoyed the Hot Chokolait which was creamy and decadent, as well as the fine Belgium chocolate shavings sprinkled on top!
@foodtom
Great Chokolait cakes at affordable pricing, apparently they use the top of the line quality and materials and you can tell through the taste of each cake. Top place.
ThE MOiStMaKeR
Very friendly service but the food was extremely overpriced here. I don’t understand how some slices of fruit and chocolate dip can cost nearly $20?
Burgers Of Melbourne
OMG! The best Pavlova in Melbourne! We tried both the chocolate and matcha and just wow! Hot chocolates, sticky puddings, the works! A must for any chocolate lover!
DamoForce Food
Love this place! Great cakes, chocolates and drinks!<br/> We tried their new winter desserts and it was one of the most decadent and indulgent chocolate experiences I’ve had.
Kath's Food Indulgences
Love this place! Great cakes, chocolates and drinks!<br/><br/>I know that my friends can sometimes find the desserts very dense and too sweet. I’m a huge sweet tooth so I don’t notice!<br/><br/>Especially impressed with their new special “Winter Warmers” menu, which includes lava cake and ice cream. I choose the matcha cake and green tea ice cream, but there are also the chocolate lava cake or Hojicha ice cream options. The technique used for the various components results in smooth ice cream, lava cake with a runny centre and well balanced flavours, and a wonderful addition of a tart with a well-tempered chocolate base.<br/><br/>The tiramisu was also great. A lot of cream though, so beware.<br/><br/>Overall, the usual cakes and drinks aren’t the most intricately complex desserts; but very much a place to go to if you feel you need some indulgence.
Bernard Haylen
Didn't know about this place until it popped up on my Facebook. I am not the biggest fan matcha but I tried the Hojicha and as it was recommended and it was amazing! Highly recommend, it was yummmy!
A Black Sheep
My friend and I were looking for some relatively quiet place for a hot drink and some chat after shopping. Stood in front of this shop it gave us the impression that this was just the place we were after. We were directed to a table by the window. We didn't quite notice actually it was quite noisy inside until we sat down. We ordered hot choc matcha and a slice of matcha cake. The presentation was beautiful and very much Instagramable. The cake tasted good, different textures in one slice, not too sweet. But I am not sure it lived up to expectations that come with a $14.5 price tag. Hot matcha was average, I can't say I like or dislike it, drinkable is probably the word I could think of. We also ordered a babycino for the little one. Total order cost us almost $40. I am not sure I would be willing to come back any time soon. But if you want some nice Instagram photos for cakes, you won't be disappointed.
Scrumptious GG
We were looking for a cafe to have an afternoon coffee, and decided to have coffee at this place. <br/>At first I was tempted to have a slice of cake, but when I looked at $14.95 price tag, I changed my mind.<br/>In the end I had hot matcha chokolait instead, and my friend had a latte. <br/>The hot matcha was good, nice and hot, a little bit stronger would probably be better. <br/>Staff were friendly, service was good and quick.
Noray
My review here is based on the hot chocolate and no baked cheesecake we had at this place today. Came here because I have been salivating over the pic of their dark hot chocolate on instagram. Finally tried the milk hot chocolate. Looks nothing like the pic I saw but oh my they have decent tasting cuppa. Very rich and satisfying. The baked cheesecake was very average and sour tasting. Wouldn’t come here for the cake but will surely return for takeaway hot choc on a cold winter day!
Quyen Ng
The environment and chef is always very friendly every time I come visit and the presentation of the desserts are very appealing. Definitely a good location to have a catch up with family and/or friends!
MissCatCat
Good decorations, but just looks not like chocolate shop. We order matcha pavlova to share, strong matcha cream to lighten sweetness. We both love the cherry for the decorations, it tastes uniquely.
Dollmination
Tried their signature Chocolait Pavlova and Cheesecake. There was nothing wow factor about it, first bite was good but then i felt too sick to finish the whole thing. Was very sweet though, but the strawberry helps to tone down the sweetness. It was very pricey as well, $14.95 for a Pavlova is sure expensive dessert
Izzfizz101
This place is not bad, but did notice an odd odour, it wasn’t a chocolate odour, just slightly off, anyway had the pavlova, latte, milk iced chocolate and sticky date. The ice cream is ok, but no vanilla beans, the butterscotch sauce is a k, but grainy, the pavlova looked good, layered strawberries, but tasted a little bland and needs a sharp tart ingredient to lift it, was good the b st presented dish. The milk iced chocolate was very good.<br/><br/>
Nyann
Really really good ice matcha chokolait! The place is a little small but quick service for a take away drinks. Can get busy during the weekends
Gloria XIA
Matcha Pavlova, It original cake with pure matcha cream.  tasting it delicious, particularly mixed it. although sometimes I found the cake is not like traditional sale pavlova, maybe they should notice it.
Bubblegummie
Chocolate mud cake is rich and yummy but is balanced out with the cream, highly recommend. The presentation of all their desserts are very detailed as well. The drinks however are quite pricey but the size is fairly big. The staff there are friendly and were smiling as well. It isn’t a place I would go to often because of the price but I would go occasionally.

What a chocolate indulgence. Felt so wrong to enjoy such a hefty amount of sweet, rich, intense and dark chocolate. But, that was the point right? Tried the Choco Fondue and Iced Chocolate. Loved the little madeleines to be dipped in the melted chocolate syrup. Iced Chocolate was awesome. Sweet.
Alijargalb
Been here twice, the first time was amazing, but the second time I used the Groupon voucher and the quality wasn’t up to standard. The ice cream isn’t creamy and the cakes were very average.

Strangled by the rent???????<br/><br/>Disappointing ..... for what they are charging.<br/><br/>It's probably an expensive exercise setting up a shop inside the Emporium and not forgetting the exuberant rent this proprietor have to fork out every month, which is reflected in the selling cost of its products .....<br/><br/>$4.00 - Long Black coffee<br/>$7.00 - Affogato<br/>$8.90 - Hot Matcha<br/>and<br/>$6.90 - Organic Peppermint<br/><br/>You wanted to be WOW with those rates ......but not really.<br/>They've got the stuff, could be better or lower their pricing structure .... better still move to another site .... lower rent, better/same quality and better pricing for us Chocolate lovers. JT 29/10/2017. <br/><br/>PREVIOUS<br/>Not honouring and turning my kids away for being 15 minutes late with a Groupon booking/voucher ..... that's a bit petty, they are on Public Transport ......

OMG the best vegan hot chocolate in Melbourne, ask for dark with soy milk and enjoy. So thick and decadent, I like it with chilli or Jaffa flavour 💯
Wandering Ella
Pretty good hot chocolates. Whilst I haven't had the time to sample their yum-looking matcha pavlova, I did try their Mochaccino. Definitely wasn't expecting how sweet it would be. They 'coat' the cup in their signature melted chocolate so the drink really was more of a hot chocolate with slight hints of coffee. Still, a decent cuppa though.

I love the chocolate drinks and desserts from here. Yes it pricey and abit sweet for some people but I like my desserts sweet.<br/><br/>We order 2 hot chocolate: classic milk and dark, Chokolait sticky date delights served with vanilla ice-cream and smoother in butter scotch sauce, and the Chokolait mousse cake. <br/>The hot chocolate was sweet and rich and the dessert was soft, rich and delicious.<br/><br/>The place look more fancy out side but when you go in side the place look normal. Customer service was ok but you have to order and pay at the front counter. They should have someone come and take order from your tables because this place is not cheap. 😀😋

Waitress is not motivated. Firstly, throw a menu to customers. Secondly, Very bad mood. I means not young waitress. I used to go to there. But I will not come back again!!

Not a lot of variety to choose from in the menu, and the staff seemed a bit.. clueless. The tasting platter was decent, however the raspberry and green tea cakes weren't tasty at all! The 2 chocolates saved the dish for me, which wasn't at all worth it for $35. The decor and feel was gloomy and unwelcoming. Won't exactly drop by again, which is disappointing as I was expecting sweets living up to the prices.

I can only speak on behalf of what I tried and though on the pricey side - it was worth it for a special occasion. Their signature pavlova was indeed very different but tasty. The marshmallow like texture was soft and airy, while the strawberries and unsweetened cream cut through the sweetness. I loved the suprise layer of chocolate within the cake and it was a perfect size to share with another person. It doesn't look that big but if you're ordering other things it's perfect to share. I also tried the matcha truffle - it was expensive for the size and for what it is but it was amazing. True matcha flavour and the bitterness was perfect. The texture was melting in your mouth and I loved it. I wouldn't come here regularly but if you're after a treat and willing to fork out more money then I'd give this a try. Service was also friendly.
CultureClash
I was dragged here by friends because it looked "fancy". <br/>waited quite a while to be seated because no body paid attention to us. (they looked and ignored) <br/>long story short don't be fooled by the fancy exterior because the interior has mediocre decorations/tables and everything is expensive. (for me, as a peasant student)<br/>You'd at least expect them to come and take your order at the table for the price that they charge but nope, gotta order it yourself at the counter.<br/>Ordered a Matcha ice chocolate which was $10 and came out in an ordinary and old fashion milkshake glass, tasted watery & not special at all. The menu was torn and a few pages only so not a big variety.

yum, the perfect place for afternoon tea. The pavlova is not too sweet, it just perfect. 🍓 chocolate will look better with a 🍓 on the beautiful glass
Blueberry Matcha
Great place for chilling out, I'm a huge fan of matcha so I ordered Matcha Pavlova & also Iced Matcha Chocolate and shared them with my sis. The Pavlova design is so cute, I must say everything there are made with effort! ❤ Price of the desserts there are decent to overprice but for a dessert lover like me I would be eager to pay for great desserts. 😂😂😂 Would definitely come back again to try out their other desserts 😊❤

Stop by to make our stomach happy😂.. my boyfriend really loves chocolate so I took him here. Mine is the rapsberry dish and his was something chocolate (I'm sorry guys, can't remember the name!) it was okay for me but fabulous for my boyfriend! We were happy for these dishes
Ruth
signature pavlova was absolutely delicious and I loved their matcha collection (I ordered hot matcha and matcha pavlova) <br/>the only downside would be the price as it's definitely on the steep side (almost $20 for the matcha pavlova)

Oh dear - not a wonderful experience here and just trying to communicate my order was a difficulty. <br/>I believe it was a combination of language pronunciation and hearing.<br/>Range of goodies impressive however coffee was ordinary and the drinks lacked technique required to produce an affogato .<br/>The hot chocolate not special enough considering that this place has this as a specialty. <br/>Need to communicate and deliver a higher standard. It is too expensive being a tenant in this location & the general public expect more.
Violet
Disappointed with the service. We sat down for 10 minutes then the waiter put a 'reserved' sign on the table. After a while, we were told we have to give up the table in half an hour. There were no other table available and we had to rush. Not going back again!

Overall: Fantastic for a treat! Very rich.. Crowded atmosphere, their other place in the arcade is more cosy. <br/>Food: Chocolate cake. Mmmmm. So good... <br/>Drink: Cinnamon hot chocolate is the winner!! Every time 😁. Iced chocolate is great too. Decent serving, considering how rich it all is. <br/>Service: Good, but expect to wait in line for a table/to order, and even longer for the goods to come out. Try approaching staff for a table straight away, and have a friend jump in the queue.

Some of these tables are oh so very small. Overall, interiors are decent but not overtly memorable. Staff are friendly but proved inexperienced (messing up orders and whatnot). Drinks came out within reasonable time and portions were average; the fresh iced strawberry with ice cream was the highlight, with the milked ice chokolait being quite rich.

Months have passed, between swapping Daisy Dukes and Havaianas for goose down jackets and granny sweaters. I don’t mind winter. The family gets together for hot pot, it’s snowing in Cradle Mountain and I can finally wear my overpriced jackets #totesfashun.  Amongst the circadian shift towards comfort food, hot chocolates have a childish appeal. In true Melbourne style, hot chocolate is OTT (that’s....<br/>Follow @hungrycookiee on Instagram

We came as a large group and ordered a wide variety of desserts from their menu. It took about half an hour to get half the dishes plus another 20 minutes for the remainder. Even the drinks took a while but we put that down to the fact that we were such a big group. <br/><br/>The standouts were the matcha magic menu items. The matcha pavlova in particular was a real favourite of the night. 5/5<br/><br/>I also loved the mud cake although it was much too rich for others. The sticky date pudding was also well received as was the cheesecake. 4/5<br/><br/>What we didn't enjoy so much were the chocolate mousse. In comparison to the other dishes, it failed to impress. 3/5<br/><br/>Service was OK but they must've been super busy for us to have such a long wait time for food. 3/5

1st time here and ohhhh will be back soon again! Had the Groupon coupon, had the milk and dark Belgium hot chocolate. Took my first sip of the hot chocolate, oohhhh man it was so good!!! So rich in flavour, had to drink it slowly or else I would have demolished the drink before the cakes come. I had the passionfruit, chocolate, greentea and strawberry cake. flavour of each cake was very nice, my favourite would be the passionfruit one because it matches well with the drinks.

Love love this place, tried their matcha menu and I think this place is my favourite to go for Matcha 🍵 yummmmm it's a must to try 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Never have such horrible experience before!! I arrive here w/ my BF and he left early. I have ordered chocolate mousse but I haven't finished it, so I sit there, finish the dish and play game. The chef come and told me that I have been sit here for a long time and ask me to go!! Why? No one is waiting and ask me to leave. Is this your way to service ? Never come again!

They make the best hot chocolate I've ever had! I felt like a kid again.<br/>Price wise is the only thing that would stop me from coming here very often but I will be back when I'm in the emporium in the evening.<br/>Take your lover, friends or family here for some good hot chocolate.<br/>I'm keen to try out the match pavlova next!
Kevin Rolimpandoei
Horrible, disgusting waitress. Ignored when i walked in, and greeted the couple behind me. Walked right past through me like wind. You should be ashamed of the conduct of your waitresses. Disgusting

Good spot for a break from CBD shopping, iced chocolate is thick and rich. Pavlova isn't overly sweet and is surprisingly light, but the generous helping proved overwhelming in the end. Would return.<br/>

If you haven't tried pavlova yet you must visit here to try!!<br/>The strawberry pavlova tastes amaizng and the best I ever tried!! My favourite place to get desserts♡

General feel and deco<br/>- Spacious area with plenty of seating<br/>- Light is on the darker side<br/>- Deco was lovely (Cute bow on the main window making it look like the store was a giant chocolate box)<br/><br/>Service<br/>- Staff were friendly and welcoming<br/>- Pastry Chief was lovely (would engage with customers and had a great personality)<br/><br/>Food<br/>- Tried the new item on the menu -- Match Pavlova -- which was divine (fluffy, moist and aesthetically appealing)<br/>- Dessert was presented well<br/>- Dessert was cut in half so it was evenly distributed and easy for the two of us to consume<br/>- Price was decent considering the portion size, however looking at the prices of the other items i felt they were a bit overpriced

One of my favo hot chocolate place!! I love those milk belgian hot chocolate drink, thick and gooey . Its pricey but its worth your money!! 😍😍😍 totally define chocolate drink. Im so happy that they opened another branch in Emporium. Their first store is hidden but of course I found them

I am a big sweets and cakes fan and always wanted to try chokolait. I came here with my sister with a scoopon deal which allowed us to try the chefs tasting platter. <br/><br/>If you are not into sweets or chocolate the platter may be too rich for you but if you like sweets it was a good way to try a bit of everything. <br/><br/>The service was slow despite not having a lot of customers. Most people I've observed came with the same scoopon. <br/><br/>The cakes was nice but I had higher expectations as they didn't seem to be as fresh as I would've hoped. The raspberry sorbet on the other hand was delicious. <br/><br/>We also had 2 iced chocolates and this was quite nice and not too rich which was a plus. <br/><br/>Overall value for money for the scoopon was good but I wouldn't pay full price.

I visit CBD nearly every week for work, chokolait is my favourite place to relax during tea break, the environment is chill and classy. The quality of the cakes are second to none, i have three favourites so far: choc mud, red velvet and raspberry mousse cake, it's been a year i keep ordering the same cakes because they are that good! This year i will aim to taste some of the other things on the menu, good times ahead! Thank you for the friendly service, see you next week.

It's said that the best thing in life is dessert..& it's absolutely true when I checked into this cafe.such an amazing, finger licking pavlova & hot chocolate drinks that relaxed my hungry soul after a long time..

Shoppers can get their chocolate fix right at Emporium at the family-owned Chokolait. A range of hand-crafted chocolates, cakes, ice creams, desserts and drinks are available for selection at this small boutique. Chocolate Mud Cake. Sticky Date Pudding. Various dessert ‘indulgences’ can be purchased individually. Alternatively, you can experience a tasting platter instead.

We decided to have coffee and tried the sticky date pudding. I like the set up of the place, there was an area in the corner called the vault which is great for big groups. Anyway the sticky date was delicious, it just had the right sweetness.

Came here with the coupon that gave the platter with an assortment of cake, chocolates and icecream. The tiramisu was a tad bland, but the red velvet and matcha cakes were creamy and rich. Fell in love with the mango and chocolate ice creams also. Got a hot chocolate and my friend got an iced chocolate alongside the platter and both were very rich - very decadent! The gift box with the assortment of chocolates was a nice bonus too. Don't think it's worth the price, but for a coffee date or to treat yourself, it's a pretty decent spread.
Rosaline
The whole thing was just disappointing including the taste of the desserts, ice chocolate and service given that the place wasnt even busy ... way too overpriced!! i would not go back again
Camila Castro
Yes, the food is good. But it was a terrible experience to me. Only 2 people on the staff. One overloaded lady, very helpful but in charge of absolutely everything on the store and a rude gentleman, who did/sad nothing to me, just gave me the menu and ignored me completely while I was standing to order. Definitely, won't come back.
FoodieCCC
Had the pavlova which was not yummy, I could tell a bloody strong raw egg white taste, ruined whole cake. The strawberries on top were not sweet at all, even a little bit sour.
Soraya JA
My favorite hot chocolate in the city! I like the hot milk chocolate, the the cup size is quite good and a nice place to see friends who loves chocolates!

<br/><br/><br/>Cake is decent enough but at $22+ for one slice and a drink it's not that great. Waitress kept sneezing but never washed her hands. <br/>Wouldn't come back <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>

One of my girlfriends took me here for a birthday catch up. I wouldn't normally stray into the Emporium but she had a voucher for Chokolait.<br/><br/>It was a nice little place...an easy first date option if that's what you're looking for, with the soft lighting and minimal noise.<br/><br/>With the voucher we got a tasting plate, with four petite cakes and some ice cream, as well as a box of chocolates & a hot or cold drink. All the cakes were pleasant and quite typical of what you'd expect from a place that specializes in decedent cakes and desserts. In fact, all the desserts in the display cabinet looked amazing. So if you're looking for an extra chin, this place would be a good start.

This place should be packed. The hot chocolate was amazing. They even have a grumpy looking European man in the back to give it authenticity. I'm hooked.

I absolutely love their hot chocolate - it's perfect, sweet and just filled with deliciousness! It's my favorite hot chocolate spot in Melbourne. Note the hot chocolate is very rich - so not an everyday treat :) I haven't tried the chocolates, cakes or other sweet items (planning to come back and try a few).

Got chased out of the restaurant just because they were filling up and I was alone. Did not even finish my coffee yet being asked to leave. Staff was rude especially the old man in the white chef jacket. Customer service was bad. Please brush up on your service quality. Will not be back soon.

If you love chocolate everything, this is the place for you! I ordered the iced dark choc & pavlova. They were both yummy, but could only half of each. Great place to share a dessert x
Chocolate Fiend
Best hot chocolate in Melbourne. Period. (Sorry Mork, I still love you!)<br/>The Dark hot chocolate is simply divine! Rich, creamy, a little sweet but mostly delicious, smooth, quality dark chocolate. Their Milk hot chocolate is also fantastic but a little one the sweet side for my tastes and if you're up for something cool, their Iced chocolates are a great choice too!  <br/>I just keep going back, the perfect mid-city pick-me-up!

Came here with a groupon Voucher. The deal was as described for x2 and no issue no drama with them. There were 2 scoops of vanilla and berry ice cream and both were nice, 4 slices of mini cakes which were average and 4 different types of chocolate which were also average. For drinks we ordered the Ice milk and hot dark chocolates. My dark chocolate was awesome but the milk chocolate was not chocolate rich really. The dark chocolate was rich and really tasty thought, one of the best I have ever had. We also got 9 handmade chocolates. I'm not sure how to compare this place but if only chocolate specific, they are better than Max Brenner but not as good as Lindt (Lindt is better in everything maybe except the hot chocolate). Worth a try specially on a voucher but not the best!

Brought in a voucher for 2.<br/><br/><br/>My other half wasn't able to make it due to illness and was told by the staff that they will allow me to take away her share.<br/><br/><br/>Her hot chocolate came in an eat in mug. That confused me as I was told that take away option for the drink would be possible by the staff at the counter. Clearly unable to cope with the crowd, the waitress just hastily said the voucher only accepts eat in, placed both mugs of hot choc in front of me and walked off.<br/><br/>The service was appalling, to say the least <br/><br/>

If you love chocolate (and cream... I love whipped cream and double cream :p), the mud cake is a must try! The best mudcake i've ever had... I recommend going with a friend so you can share a couple of things... The Chokolait mousse cake is also really good. (If you're like me and don't usually go for mud cake cos you don't think it's worth choosing over something else... you will be pleasently surprised)
Chocolate_frogs456
I absolutely love the hot chocolates here - the dark chocolate, especially in the single origin e.g. the 70% origin. My favourite hot choc in aus and ive tried a few. (They are the really thick and rich with melted choc type, not a regular hot choc or hot cocoa). The hot choc 'thick to drink' is also tasty - although was too sweet and caramelly in milk choc, have to get dark, and the 'thick to drink' really needed to be eaten with a spoon, so the 'thck to eat' must be insanely thick. However, the desserts were pretty awful. We had the choc raspberry mousse cake and the opera cake. They were both pretty underwhelming and overly sweet. The opera cake was very dry and the choc raspberry mousse cake had an artificial flavour, possibly gelatin. These were also expensive, at about $14 each with no cream or ice cream. A serve of icecream (which tasted like Peters or homebrand) was $5 for one scoop! On previous occasions ive also had the plain choc mousse cake and it too tasted off or funny in some way. I have also previously tried the 'iced chocs and mochas' however they are more like frappes anda re weak and watery and I did not like these. Additionally the owner (I think he is the owner - the man making the drinks) was very unfriendly. The lady serving me seemed like she was new, and was friendly but nervous and tried to answer rmy questions. regarding the products and different types of drinks etc. However she didnt know the answers and had to ask the man. He was rude to both her and me, acted so put out to have to answer a question and was very short and abrupt. This really put a dampner on the experience. So overall, I would go back for the hot choc and ignore the unfriendliness, but would not get anything else off the menu.

Came here after dinner for a quick drink. Was not overly impressed with the menu- it's pretty limited and small. However they really specialise in their chocolate and their hot chocolate especially is cool as you can basically customise it when you get a dark hot chocolate by the strength of cocoa you prefer! This costs more though.<br/><br/>I ordered just a normal hot chocolate with dark chocolate. It was extremely rich. For some reason though it failed to really hit that bullseye sweet spot (which is a huge spot for me- I'm a 100% sweet tooth). <br/><br/>The atmosphere was average? Servers were friendly but stayed at the counter and did not walk around the tables. Probably won't come back here for the cost until they up their game. Nothing exceptional unfortunately.

For all the chocolate lovers out there, you won't be disappointed. Had the tasting plate with chocolate and strawberry mousse, raspberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream. Well matched flavours which were paired with an iced milk chocolate. The iced chocolate was like an ice blended frappe style with bits chocolate throughout. Everything was very sweet and I couldn't finish my drink as it was a bit too much of a chocolate overload. I enjoyed my visit and it's a nice spot for indulgence.

Used Groupon vouchers to try this rather pricey chocolate shop.<br/>Was presenting hastily with tasting Platters of various Ice Creams, Mousse and Chocolates, that would satisfy any sweet tooth. <br/>Now wash all this sugar down with more sugar in the form of either hot or iced Chocolate drinks and we're nearly sugared out.<br/>The Dark Hot Chocolate is very rich and dense, near the stage of melted Chocolate.<br/>A take-away box of 9 Chocolates summarises this sweet experience, leaving us strutting out on sugar highs.
TheTomato
Chokolait is situated conveniently in the Emporium however, it's convenient location is as good as it gets. The pavlova was creative, with a chocolate filling however, it was too sticky and sweet. The ice coffee was at least cold and quite alright. However, I fell ill after eating here... Overall, not very impressed with the pricey items, especially if they are going to get you sick.
Bailin
Had the Groupon deal, they gave us two drinks and a platter with chocolate mousse, sorbet, and ice cream, and also to take home chocolate. The iced dark chocolate drink was too sweet compared to the platter. The highlight was the chocolate mousse, it wasn't too sweet, and had a smooth, creamy taste. Overall it was a pretty alright experience, but the overload of sweetness made it pretty hard for me to not feel like it was too much for my tastebuds to handle. This is more of a place to enjoy after lunch, and have something small and sweet.
Blueberrypie
Came for an after lunch dessert. Had the pavlova to share plus a few coffees. The pav was a decent size and the idea of having chocolate through the pav was great. I don't know how it was done but i personally think the chocolate overpowered the pav and the taste of the pav got lost. It was also quite soggy and stuck to my teeth. The presentation was beautiful. The coffees were a so-so for me. The environment was quite good with the cafe areas partitioned off to the sides so it feels less disturbed by the shop in the middle. The service was alright but the price was quite high especially for the coffees as the quality wasn't quite there for me.

Time to spoil yourself, indulge, yummy silky tasty chocolate.Used my Groupon deal, it was absolutely awesome value, The service was quick and the place was beautiful, easter is coming up so lots of Easter chocolate bunnies decorated everywhere. They also have beautiful chocolate boxes to take with you. I had the hot chocolate and it was divine. Recommend this beautiful chocolate and coffee shop. Indulge❤️

Yummy yummy yummy, great value, very fresh chocolates, will go again soon. Highly recommend. <br/>Good location and service. Nice surroundings.<br/>Even gave us chocolates to take home.

I've been here several times, and it's a great spot to enjoy some sweets. But be warned, you may make yourself ill by indulging too much. <br/>It's a convenient location, though I would try and avoid peak times for the best ambiance. I've been during rush periods and had trouble with the quality of service; drinks delivered at different times, both before and after the meal, which is irritating when you're in a group.
HB
We had the summer tasting plate. It was a good mix of flavours - chocolates, chocolate mousse, raspberry sorbet, strawberry mousse in a chocolate basket and vanilla ice cream. This prevented an overdose of chocolate. We couldn't fault any of the things we were served. My husband had a mocha, which he enjoyed. I had the fruit delight, which was also nice. The only drawback was that my drink was not served until after we had finished everything else and we thought it had been forgotten. I'd go back and have this again.

The final stop in my city adventure with my friend is at Chokolait at the Emporium. I have tried their hot chocolates before in the other Chokolait and I still find their hot chocolate the best in Melbourne! My friend and I decided to try their desserts. My dessert for today was their signature pavlova. Their pavlova was pure meringue with a few thin layers of chocolate, and decorated with strawberries, cream, and chocolate drizzle. This pavalova was absolutely light, fluffy, and has the right amount of sweetness throughout. I would also like to say that the presentation was absolutely beautiful! I really enjoyed this place and I cannot wait to return and reunite with their hot chocolate!

When you are craving for chocolate, this is the place to go. I heard that australia is famous with their pavlova, chokolait has the best pavlova i've ever taste. It looks pretty too. The owner is very friendly and nice. Good place to chill out with your friends even though it is inside a mall.
DuckieLovesToEat
I have seen this place numerous of times and I have been wanting to try it. I know that they have another shop in the arcade that I have been meaning to check out. Anyways, we did end up trying this place for the first time. We ordered the chocolate platter, an iced coffee and iced dark chocolate. I reckon it was alright. Although, the coffee was not very strong. I also noted that the staff appears to be flustered on that day. It was a little bit busy but not that hectic. In addition to that, some of the tables were not cleared straightaway that some of the incoming customers put the used cutleries and plates on their neighbouring table to clear up the mess. They might need to hire more hands in order to be on top of their game.

I don't usually comment on anything but I had to sign up for this. <br/>- Waited for more than half an hour to get what I ordered on Sunday afternoon.<br/>- The store was way understaffed and noticed that they had to run here and there (pity they have to work under this amount of pressure)<br/>- The cake was great but I was no longer in the mood to eat them since I had to wait for so long<br/><br/>Recommend for others to go in when there is no one in there!

My sister recommended me to try the mouthwatering pavlova at Chokolait and here I am trying to describe how delectable it was. Chokolait Pavlova ($12.95). The slice was incredibly fluffy. There was a glorious proportion of cream and sweetness, and also some interesting crisp. There were a few pieces of strawberries that neutralized the rich flavor of the pavlova. It was a modern twist on an angelic pavlova.

I've been here twice using the $29 Chocolate Tasting Platter voucher. My first experience was average and my second experience was awful. You can see the difference in quality in the first and second pictures.<br/><br/>On my most recent experience, it took at least 10 minutes to be served at the counter, and a further 15 minutes for the platter and drinks to arrive at my table. As the staff were too busy, the tables weren't wiped down and I had to move the previous diner's plates and glasses to the end of the table.<br/><br/>The chocolate was average and the drinks were nice. However, my chocolate drink was served in a smaller glass in comparison to a diner who wasn't using a voucher. I wouldn't recommend coming here without using a voucher as the quality doesn't justify the high prices.<br/><br/>The thing that bothered me most was that the store has an obvious issue with people who use vouchers, based on the reactions of the owner and staff. If Chokolait doesn't want people to use vouchers, they shouldn't offer them on Groupon, Living Social or Scoopon. I won't be returning to Chokolait as a result of these experiences.

Having a iced chocolate and mug cake. The iced chocolate is rich in mouthfeel. Mug cake is really moisture, u wont feel dry or sticky in ur mouth. Will visit again if I travel to Melbourn

Just came here with my daughter as we were given a voucher. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Friendly staff and excellent food exceptionally presented.
Bunjibing
Tried the 3 ice creams which were ok but the cheese cake was ordinary - served almost at room temperature with no firmness. Couldn't finish long black, there was no crema and tasted both thin and overly bitter at the same time.<br/><br/>Water glasses came with greasy finger prints on the rims. Waitress spilled water on other patrons and coffee orders came out all over the place.<br/><br/>Quite a forgettable experience. Perhaps we should have stuck with actual chocolate foods :D

I have often bought boxed chocolates and presents from Chokolait Emporium, and have always been impressed on this front.  However, unfortunately, as a chocolate cafe, this place doesn't quite measure up to mediocre.  The desserts are underwhelming and overpriced...and after spying several flies buzzing around inside the dessert cabinet on one occasion, I'm not sure I'll be back.
LoveFOOD Hate BADservice ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
2nd time here. Banana cake is ok. Too a while to get order in. A little upset to see that tables ain't cleared in a timely manner. In fact, had seen customers clearing tables themselves! They also have a pile of dirty dishes at the corner. Either get more staff or get current staff to move faster!

Raspberry mousse was nothing as described and was quite boring. Had the 71% hot chokolait. It tasted like a melted chocolate bar in milk. Maybe it was. The first sip was very thin with hardly any chocolate flavour. I mixed it and afterwards it tasted much better, with a thick texture. It wasn't as "dark" as I expected. Quite sweet in fact. Definitely decadent, but I don't think it was worth the price. The tasting platter is overpriced for what it is.<br/>We were served by a very friendly man, but unfortunately I was disappointed in the experience and won't be back.

If you have a sweet tooth you will be very happy! The food is great and the presentation is great too! I highly recommend you visit after a day of shopping

Please don't go passed the chokolait pavlova. More pavlova than chocolate, I've never seen anything like it. Good assortment of desserts, truffles and gifts.

Call me biased, but I've been a fan of Chokolait ever since their main branch in Little Collins Street. The Emporium branch, I'm pleased to say, does not disappoint!<br/>I love their hot chocolates. Some say it's too sweet (even for the dark), but being a sweets connoisseur, I find the sweetness level of the dark chocolate spot on. <br/>The drink's texture is very smooth and velvety; each sip sending a rejuvenating jolt to your senses. Yes, it's that good! However it is an immensely rich indulgence- felt like I've drank a glass of pure melted chocolate. <br/>Their iced chocolates are delicious too. Nothing short of chocolatey goodness. <br/>Their tasting plates were also pretty good; maybe the serves can be slightly bigger. Delicious nevertheless!<br/>Overall, Chokolait definitely concocts the best hot chocolate in town. Although the price-tag is hefty, it's definitely a rewarding one-in-a-while experience!

I had a dreadful experience here. Was given a gift voucher and was 5 minutes late to arrive. The owner refused to honour the voucher and refused to let us move it to another day. My daughter paid over $100 for the voucher as a special birthday gift for my husband, and our day was ruined. They virtually stole this money. Extremely upset.

Went there today at 1:35 PM to redeem my Groupon voucher that I bought long time ago and totally forgot about it. And today is the expiry date. Didnt know that last order was 1:30PM for that and were just 5 minutes behind. The chef who served us said its too late to use the voucher and didn't try to let us even get the drinks with that voucher! No customer service at all!!! Really dissapointing. I paid $29 and thats it..5 mins late they didnt even let me redeem it (guess what we were late coz the queue to reach the register was more than 5 mins).<br/>Chokolait Emporium..we will never come back! The worse service ever!!

It is good for the chocolate lover... Hot chocolate is delicious especially dark hot chocolate... If the winter is coming, it is the right choice to order... <br/>

I received a gift voucher for two and decided to treat a friend. We had the platter with 2 drinks. Got a box of truffles to take home as part of the voucher.<br/><br/>Everything was definitely over the line - so many sweets calories to consume. So yummy!

Went for dessert after a day in the city. Had the Iced Chocolate Jaffa, while my friend had an Iced Chocolate Mocha. It was exactly what it said it would be. A tall glass of chocolate milk, jaffa flavoured. There were little pieces of ice in it as well as chocolate pieces and it was rich and nice. The ice pieces - ground ice - did detract slightly as they watered down the flavour and I might have preferred larger ice cubes but the day was warmish so it was all good. Probably go back if I was passing.

really friendly staff and the atmosphere of the cafe was really nice and chill. Ordered their pavlova and didnt expected it to be that good :) all and all a fantastic experience and would go again for a third time ;)

It is one of my best memory in Melbourne, I will never forget the amazing taste from iced chocolate which I always have when I come back, I always sit in the back right hand side where is my first time to chat with my lover

The food and drinks here were amazing! It's just a bit of a shame it was so busy, the staff seemed flustered and it was so busy we lined up for what felt like ages and when we got to the counter I asked for a seat and a menu, but because we had a voucher, we were told just to quickly order a hot or cold drink. It was a bit disappointing but in the end, the food was great. We paid $29 for a winters tasting plate, 2 drinks and a takeaway box of chocolates. I thought it was a bit much to pay for an afternoon tea of basically fancy coffee and cake, let alone if we paid full price of nearly $70. Still quite a pleasant experience.

The iced chocolate was amazing, one of the best i've ever had. However, the tasting platter was a big disappointment in terms of its portion size. For $30, the plate did seem a bit less. The brownies and strawberries and cream were of average quality and taste, however the sticky date pudding was good and the individual chocolates were of good quality and some had quite unique and exotic flavors.

My friend brought me over to Chokolait to try their signature Pavlova. Shame on me, as a food blogger, I have only just recently tried one because my initial thought was that its just a meringue based cake topped with whipped cream, how good can that be? I imagine a really big macaron without jam, and that's not pleasant isn't it? Well, I was mistaken. The layered meringue was light, some parts were blowtorched which created texture and a whole different flavour. Chokolait used double cream, chocolates and fresh strawberries to decorate the dish, and I thought it was absolutely beautiful and delicious.

My go to place for cake dates. With a selection of chocolates that always turn too when in need of a nice gift and a sneaky treat for myself. My favourite chocolate is without a doubt the white chocolate pandan. My go to drink the hot chocolate which is miles ahead of max brenner. I always looking forward to the service of the chocolatier he always has a smile on his face and is always very helpful. Thier mudcake is to die for please try it!

We arrived with our Groupon form for the Chocolate tasting plate for 2 at $29 but with an RRP of up to $65.65. The store looks and feels inviting, contemporary in fit out and generally a nice space to be in. The server at the counter was friendly and polite, she took our coupon and we ordered our beverages without fuss. We could see the ‘chocolate master’ busy at work behind the counter assembling the various chocolate goodies for customers. Our dark hot chocolates arrived and I must say that it was probably the best hot chocolate that I’ve had, it was dark, full of flavour and a real indulgence to drink. When our tasting plate arrived we both though, oh is that it… there must be one each! But no, it was a single plate to share. <br/><br/>So whilst all of the chocolate goodies on the plate were very nice with the chocolate mud cake being the main stand out item, everything else was average and tiny in terms of its portion size. I would never order the tasting plate again as it is nowhere near the perceived value, but, I would return for an indulgent dark hot chocolate.

The cafe is nicely decorated with chocolates... The menu is interesting ... While my dessert was delicious, it was super sweet 😣... Just personal preference I guess...
Kash
The Hot Chocolate was excellent. Well balanced tasting plates! Nice and cosy atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try something different.
Perpetuity Of Food
The desserts that we ordered were not accurately represented in the menu. When they appeared, they did not bear much resemblance to the photos we had based our decisions off. <br/><br/>Overall, the desserts were tasty, but average.<br/><br/>Acav may be back.

famous for their pavlova, but unfortunately we did not try it. we went for their cherry dark chocolate, sticky date pudding and iced chocolate drink. All 3 items were great and we enjoyed chilling at the cafe.

Where can you find the best iced dark chocolate. This is the ultimate place to be. Been a frequent fan of this place for years n now, it's @ the emporium. I would follow him .... The owner, who's taking charge here. His wife is still looking after their first store also in the city. You simply don't visit this place without trying their signature iced chocolate. Desserts are also very good here. While a visit if you are in town.

This place can't seem to go wrong. I've been several times now and each time the tea and coffee was great, and the service was friendly and fast. And the cakes. Oh my good god the cakes. Ordered something different each time and was never upset with what I got. <br/><br/>So do yourself a favor go here and have the chocolate cake. You'll never be able to have mud cake anywhere else ever again.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely hot chocolate. The selection of chocolates was limited but the desserts looked nice. Would visit again and try a dessert next time.

I was really excited to try this place.<br/><br/>I ordered a cold chocolate and the others had ordered mochas.<br/><br/>The cold chocolate was a slushy. I was expecting something more like a milkshake aka a hot chocolate that was cold. The chocolate flavour was there but it wasn't what I was looking for. The other complained that their mochas were way too sweet. At least we know they use real chocolate, but the proportions they used were off.<br/><br/>The truffles were nice though. <br/><br/>Perhaps their hot desserts might be the way to go next time.

Really like their chocolates. Really nice especially the pandan one and hazelnut ones. :) would defs be coming back for more chocolates :)!!!!

Been to this place a couple of times now...the coffee and the teas are great. The cheesecake in the pic was ok (but too savory instead of sweet) you can definitely taste the cheese. My friend had the merengue cake which was really yummy, very fluffy and light tasting.

Visited after dinner on a weekday night. Our order took a long time to arrive. We thought the chocolate was pretty average here, definitely not as luxurious as the price tag would have one expect. Our raspberry mouse and passion fruit gateaux were actually bland, lacking distinguishable flavours throughout the different layers for contrast and just some sort of kick. We were thoroughly disappointed. This place looks fancy but the taste is all empty.

GOOD DESSERTS, COOL PLACE,  OK SERVICE -- I was pleasantly surprised by the cool colourful place, the vibrant ambience, and the variety of patrons.  The seating area is a bit reduced but well used with plenty of two-people tables. Chokolait has traditional favourite desserts well done and mindfully presented and served. <br/><br/>The desserts on display, the one I and my fellow-customers looked fabulous and decadent, colourful and yummy.  Everybody was saying, "this is so good".  <br/><br/>I had the Raspberry Mousse with lychee pannacotta and a sponge-like base in a glass and plated with fresh strawberries and cream. It looked fabulous and it was great regarding flavour and textures and not heavy or overwhelming.<br/><br/>Most sweets in Chokolait are there to please you, so they look great, taste great and they are huge! Huge is the new posh :D.  Some of the dishes are way enough for two people, like the chocolate brownies plate. I could not finish my dessert, something I can rarely say these days.<br/><br/>Pricing is very good for such good generous desserts. <br/><br/>They sell Belgian chocolates, as well. I took a several home and they are very nice. My favourite is the Pandang flavour. <br/><br/>The staff were matter of fact and a bit unfriendly, which is a pity. However, service was prompt despite the constant flow of customers, something I am always appreciate. <br/><br/>This is a great place for traditional desserts and chocolates in the heart of the CBD, at good prices and decent portion sizes. I haven't tried their hot chocolates, so a reason to come back.

Chokolait offers premium chocolate beverages, as well as desserts. The space is quite crowded, and we had to wait roughly ten minutes for a space as they were very busy when we visited. Service is varied between the staff members, they were all friendly but could have been a bit more attentive, although the wait for orders was not long, despite having many customers. We decided to order a milk hot chocolate ($7) and a milk affogato ($7.50). Both used the same Belgian chocolate, which had a certain depth of flavour and richness which I really enjoyed. Personally, I preferred the taste of the chocolate served at the hot chocolate temperature, as opposed to the cooler temperature in the affogato. However, the ice cream did reduce the richness and sweetness of the chocolate, which may become a bit overwhelming near the end of the drink.
Cluelesstraveller
The chocolate is great and the chocolate platter is beautifully plate. A nice place to relax. The sorbet also taste great. The owner personally served the food (when we went there it wasn't busy, so maybe the owner has time to actually chat with the customers). The hot chocolate is great as well.

This is a modern chocolate based drink/food in Melbourne. As of all modern style cafe, the place is cozy with soft music. A perfect place to relax with family or friends. <br/>

Iced chocolate is very good! Their pavlova and chocolate mousse is just ok.. Nothing special. Quite pricey though, maybe they can lower down the price. Just coming back for their iced chocolate.

Horrible, non-existent customer service. If the customer service here was a piece of chocolate you’d have to chew it a hundred times over to render it swallowable and even then you’d be left with a bitter taste in your mouth. Actually it would still be indigestible.<br/><br/>It’s funny how a bad store can look an awful lot like a good store. The inviting scent of Belgian chocolate, Édith Piaf playing in the background, nicely presented staff uniforms, a cozy side room all trying to make Chokolait look grown up, sophisticated and clever.<br/><br/>Yet it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that here you may encounter some of the very worst service you've ever experienced, dished up to embarrass you right in front of your date and your friends. <br/><br/>On the Chokolait website, owners Ross and Marianna Harvey profess their “simple philosophy is to make and serve extraordinary chocolates, the very best chocolate beverages and superb hand made desserts in a warm, relaxed and friendly environment.”<br/><br/>The website purrs, "we believe in providing personal attention, care and service to help ensure every visit to Chokolait is ‘perfect.’"<br/><br/>You’ll search in vain for this environment, politeness, attentiveness and care, as the attitude heaped on you by these very same owners vaults across the gap that separates poor from terrible. Chokolait seems to be run by a pair of owners who actually hate customers.<br/><br/>There is a reason why the service industry train their staff in interpersonal skills but here the directive inexplicably seems to be to provide a surly, impatient and shamelessly rude experience.<br/><br/>Upon a first visit, owner Ross displayed these qualities when he appeared at our table resplendent in his chefs whites. Expecting an enquiry as to whether we were enjoying our hot chocolates and pavlova, we were surprised as he began boorishly fishing away share plates still being used by the group and announced testily, “We're closing.” It was 10 minutes to closing time at 9pm.<br/><br/>A second visit saw us stand at the counter for a full five minutes before anyone offered us service. We enquired of owner Marianna whether she could point out the chocolate brownies in the counter that we noticed on the specials board. Marianna responded with a stinging, accusatory remark that it was now 10 minutes to 9pm. After politely reassuring Marianna that we were planning to take away a dessert and were not looking to eat in, she snapped that the kitchen was closed. Somewhat taken aback, we explained that we thought the brownies might have already been in the counter and weren’t expecting anyone to go to any trouble in the kitchen. Marianna shot us a withering look of disbelief then walked off. Ross stood alongside Marianna throughout, completely indifferent to her curt outburst and behaviour. <br/><br/>We couldn't leave fast enough, made our way across the floor to Jones the Grocer and picked up some fudge, which I can recommend highly.<br/><br/>Fear not Mr and Mrs Harvey. There won’t be a third visit. Like Édith Piaf I expect they will have no regrets.<br/><br/>As a ‘perfect’ visit, an unmitigated disaster. As a not-so-sweet lesson in how to mistreat and lose customers, superb.

Excellent customer service and ambience. The rich aroma of cocoa really hits you as you enter the shop. The pavlova slice was light and enjoyable. A bit on the pricey side ($12.95) but overall a good experience.

Mrs. The customer service was the only reason i didnt like .I thought the second visit the cusomer service at the counter might have improved but no .i stood at the counter at least waiting to be acknowleged ,after a while i asked a young girl if ahe could serve us and her answer was i am not allowed .After more time an older man came up and his words were what drink do you want and choose a table to sit at . No apology what so ever for keeping us waiting ,it makes you feel very uncomfortable for even going to the place

We recieved a chokolait platter, 2 milk iced chocolates and a box of truffles with our groupon voucher. The chokolait platter was nicely presented and taste devine. The milk iced chocolate was have to be my favourite, finished it before the arrival of the chokolait platter! The small box of truffles contained some interesting flavours of truffles. Hmmm

Terrible Customer Service!!. We had a voucher for a sharing platter and take away chocolates and also brought along some friends - so they had a good order. However, even though there was only one other table occupied, we waited at the counter to try and find out if we should be seated to order or needed to order at the counter. There were three members of staff behind the counter who completely ignored us! We took a seat and no one came over to us, so went back up to the counter and finally they got the message that they need to talk to us. The older guy seemed more inconvenienced at having to serve us than being enthusiastic and welcoming. The items we ordered were then plonked on our table with no words at all, no 'who ordered the pavola' no 'enjoy' nothing! The platter didn't turn up and I assumed it was taking some time to prepare (as they did have one other table....). But no, eventually, I went up to the counter - again the staff had back turned - but I spied the platter sitting at the back of the counter! So I had to ask for it to be brought to our table. It was - but no apology! Really, how difficult is it to provide good customer service!!! Such a shame as the drinks and chocolate were really good.

I'm a coffee toff but I like it here. I’m more of a coffee person than a choc-drinker. I’ll take chocolate in any other context, but not usually in a cup. However, I stopped here with a coffee meet-up group and loved my classic dark chocolate drink -- so rich! I'll take Chokolait's drinks over the thick muddy stuff from San Churro any day.<br/><br/>Even better was the Pavlova. I’m not keen on Australia’s national dessert because crunchy meringue and fruit does not do much for me. I had my mind set on something else, but when I stepped to the counter and saw how huge these slices were, I had to go for one. It was massive, relatively light for its size, and the meringue was soft, not stiff. Bonus points for the fruit and chocolate they wove into it. It’s definitely not the traditional Pav, which is why it went down so well with me. Chokolait is not cheap -- $12.95 for the Pavlova, $7.00 for the basic chokkie drink (more if you choose fancy options like “single country of origin” chocolate.) If you can afford to shop at Emporium, though, this place won't break you.

Quality chocs. Had been to the original and hadn't realised the expansion to Emporium. Good to see the owner's presence here at the new store. Bought 4 chocolates to take away and can say was very satisfied with all of them. Will need to return to sample more of the menu.

...a chocolate fix at the Chokolait Emporium as we’d purchased a group buy deal online. It was great value, at $29 for more chocolate than two people can handle- two chocolate drinks and a chocolate platter....There’s a choice between hot and cold chocolates so we went for one of each. The hot version was chocolate overload- so chocolatey that I don’t think I could have even made it to the chocolate platter if I’d drank that all myself. Definitely the perfect drink for a chocaholic though!

The best hot chocolate ever!!!. My family and I have been regulars at chokolait for about 5yrs. We were happy to discover they now have another store at emporium. You will find no better hot chocolate in town! Highly recommended!!!! Everything that we have had there is delicious and the owners and staff are lovely!

Best chocolate drink and deserts ever tried!!!!. My husband and I went there using a Groupon voucher. We were served well and the staffs were very friendly. I got the hot dark chocolate drink which was indeed divine!!!... while my husband chose the iced milk chocolate which he really liked. The desert platter was also delicious and well presented. After almost two hours of pure chocolate goodness (and chitchat of course), we went home full and satisfied (happy tummy!). We also got a take-home box of chocolate samples (yehey!!! can't get enough). Tried them after dinner and we loved all of them...so yummy. Can't wait to go back soon. <br/><br/>Overall, the experience was fantastic. Excellent service as well. We'll definitely recommend it...the boxes of chocolates are good gift ideas too.

Mocha Heaven. I just had THE BEST chocolate mocha iced coffee at Chokolait.... Well worth every calorie.

Sweet of resistance. Very fortunate to enjoy a beautifully prepared chocolate 'banquet' which fulfilled my chocolate addiction, the dark hot chocolate & mousse is amazing, the handmade chocolates gorgeous.

Regular eater of your pavlova. A pricey but lovely restaurant. I come back here frequently as the pavlova is so fluffy and delicious. The hot chocolate however had flavour that was a bit intense for me. Otherwise, a must try for all chocolate and dessert fans.

All styles, no substance.. We came here with a group buy voucher. Had a shared tasting platter, two drinks and a takeaway pack. <br/><br/>Having been to Lindt Cafe and Max Brenner before, I have to say the quality here cannot be compared. Presentation is top notch but the taste is not the high quality you would expect. <br/><br/>I expected a super creamy, deep, rich chocolate. What I got are very plain milk and ice chocolate drinks, taste of mostly ice chips and water. The chocolate tasting plate does not taste of much distinct flavours, just lots of sugar. The takeaway pack is a medium box inside a small bag, 2/3 fill with padding. The chocolates inside are the same one on the tasting platter.<br/><br/>Would not go back.

Nice location, setting, chocolate - but much too noisy!!. Even coming in from the relatively busy Emporium on a Sunday afternoon, walking into Chocolait was like walking into a wall of noise! Service was polite and fast, but we had to ask to have our orders changed to to-go as we (32 and 35 yr olds - not that old!) couldn't stand sitting in the terribly loud café.<br/><br/>Chocolate (both hot and cold) were very nice, as was the rest of the consumables, the café itself seems good and functional, colours kept nice and subdued, suggesting a nice and quiet spot, but it is quite the contrary. We think the noise level would give a warning if the OHS people came for an audit.

Best chocolate in Melbourne .... Best chocolate in Melbourne<br/>We had the yummiest pavlova and dark hot chocolate. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had to wait for a bit due to long queue but was all worth it. Defs come back

I went to another place and I loved ice choc. That's why I went to Emporium one today.<br/>I was standing at the counter first without greeting, a lady came out and she just gave the menu and said someone would come down to take an order. We were waiting for someone for at least 5mins... I asked an old man (maybe owner!?) to take our order, and he said "order at the counter" roughly. WTF!!! I don't mind going to the counter to place an order but...<br/>Sorry guys I'll never ever come back!!!

Test your liver health. This new venue looks fantastic: modern, warm, set in multiple “rooms” cutting noise and taking retail/ordering traffic away from the tables. A lot more cakes however quite expensive (around $13 for small slices); the chocolates and drinks are the same excellent quality at a very competitive price ($2.20 per). Love the chocolate fondue, somehow Chokolait managed to find the sweetest flavoursome strawberries in winter; it looks good and it feeds two, see photo. Five stars and a liver failure.

Elegant and relaxing environment plus great desserts. When it comes to desserts, pavlova is one that I never touch due to its excessive sweetness. But it's not the same in Chokolait Emporium, its signature dish strawberry pavlova is a must. A friend first introduced me to their first shop in the Hub Arcade, we were impressed by their hot chocolate drinks and keep bringing friends/relatives there. <br/><br/>Ross and Marianna are so friendly, we feel like having hot drinks at home. I like their new shop in Emporium, how can you resist not going in for their yummy chocolates when you pass by their entrance which is so creatively decorated by mouthwatering chocolates. The gorgeous desserts are of such high quality that no matter how full your stomach is, you will want to eat a slice or two.<br/><br/>Sandra and John

Wouldn't bother. Very unfriendly service and the prices are ridiculous. Decor is amazing though. Good place to sit but wouldn't bother with the food.

It's ok. Really busy on the weekend, and was under staff and the chef / owner have to come out and serve customers. He seem tired and so were the staff. So tables were not clean, the place didn't look as new as it should be consider that it's only just open. The prices of desserts were expensive for what it is. Average $16. And I wouldn't say it was wow! Wouldn't say I don't like it, but wouldn't be rushing back in a hurry for sure.

Divine. This chocolate shop not only looks beautiful, the hot chocolate and desserts are divine! I had the chilli hot chocolate in dark -the hot chocolate was creamy and delicious, the hint of chilli added a special and exciting twist. I also had the passionfruit gateau to eat, it was magnificent. This chocolate shop is amazing, I will definitely be back.

Came in today for my weekly chocolatey indulgence and was more than satisfied with the Chokolait Mousse. The dessert was extremely pleasurable, the staff very friendly and the service great. The chilled atmosphere suited me well and is definitely a cafe I shall be revisiting.

Went on a busy Saturday after a day of shopping for a fuel stop. Was promptly served - iced chocolate is to die for! Can't wait to come back and try a dessert!

A must have experience for Hot Chocolate Lovers. I was first introduced to Chokolait about 3 years ago at their original venue and always take my friends there (not a coffee drinker myself) but I do love a good hot chocolate. And then I discovered the Chocolate Pav with Strawberries. There is always room for Choc Pav...mind you, Chocolate Pav + Hot Chocolate can be a little too much of a good thing ;)<br/>I love the service and the suggestions of what to try next (although I will always have a chocolate drink of some description). Highly recommend the Chilli Hot Chocolate (and you can have different strengths of chilli ;)<br/>Thankyou Ross for the other morning. Cheerful as always and a blessing to bring a visitor to...<br/>Keep up the great work (and next time I will be back to try my chocolate pav at the Emporium).

Wow the new shop is awesome!. If you need to get your chololate on you must visit the new Chokolait in the Emporium it is the choclate experiece in Melbourne!

Second To None?. Heaven is an aspirational destination for some but few would want to arrive early.<br/>But not this heaven!<br/>The hot chocolate is to die for.<br/>Drawing the first gulp will transcend one instantly into heaven.<br/>This chocolate heaven is paved with lush surrounds, soft ambience and....<br/>wicked chokolaitiers!

Chokolait Emporium looks like a whisky bar with is counter-programming colours highlighted by a black on brown textured finish. It's a reasonable size, but not overly expansive....The voucher I had was for a tasting platter accompanied by drinks and take-away truffles to boot and I was well impressed with all that was offered. The platter was a good size, the items a wonderful mix of chocolates, cakes and ices, and our drinks were delicious (though a touch gritty towards the end) but overall impressive to the eye. Our truffles, enjoyed later, were also of a delectable variety and elicited much mmmmm-ing with satisfaction.

Long time fans of Chokolait would have frequented the original store when it was known as “The Chokolait Hub” and was managed by both Ross and his wife. The business has now expanded to a second store in Emporium, but both stores are still run by the original owners, which means that Chokolait hasn’t lost it’s friendly vibe...

Not somewhere you'd take a date, for atmosphere, Koko Black in the Royal Arcade would be a better choice.   The only thing that has changed is the location, but they still have the same menu & staff. Chokolait is known for their famous pavlova, which is now $13 a slice. Though hopefully just at this location, because that pavlova is very good, and actually serves two, it tastes bigger than it looks. Last time we visited Chokolait it was $10. Our deal was for two drinks, a platter to share and box of chocolates to take home for $30. Iced Chocolate $7.50 Milk Hot Chocolate $6.30 Fernando (my spell & grammar checker) had the hot chocolate which was very chocolaty that he loved. I've tried it before so had the iced chocolate. 66% of 2/3 of it was nice - but the last 33% was gritty as the chocolate wasn't fully melted before they iced it - that and I hate ice chips! They hurt my teeth. It's better to freeze the milk. Four Chocolates + Brownie + Mousse + Vanilla Bean Ice Cream The platter was very rich & decedent, the vanilla bean ice cream was perfect company for the moist brownie (much better than Lindt). Creamy mousse and chocolate filled my chocolate needs for the rest of the week, and it's only Monday. Of the four chocolates I enjoyed the rum ball and tiramisu the most. *click to enlarge* Will we back? Unlikely, as I prefer Max Brenner for white hot chocolate and Lindt for milk. But if I'm crazy about the pavlova I'll return, though hesitant at $13 a slice. It was $10 the first time we went here a few years ago. The take-home chocolates I didn't like because they all had liquor in them... alcohol burns for me, I may have an intolerance for  alcohol. What if the chocolates were for kids? We should have had an option for liquor or not. What's y

Chocoholics reunite! I am no chocolatier myself (I usually go for supermarket brands like cadbury, kit kat or even lindt whenever I feel the need for chocolate however....I can't say no to visiting a chocolate cafe when the opportunity arises:) A bit of dark chocolate every now and then is good for you and tastes even better when shared:) This little place is conveniently located in the Emporium mall which makes it a good spot to chill out after a long day of walking around Bourke Street. We did not sample any of their chocolate pieces but instead, opted for a couple of drinks and a pavlova to share. Pavlova was recommended to us by the cashier. We were extremely surprised as we were expecting a chocolate mud cake or pudding to be shoved at us! Iced chocolate was very decadent despite it costing slightly more compared to other places. However, worth every penny and had no problems slurping it down. Hot dark chocolate ~ this is purely for diehard chocolate fans out there. I felt as tho
