Great food and fantastic ambiance in the restaurant . Rooftop bar was a bit loud and cramped but everything about the dining downstairs ticked the boxes . Our waiter was absolutely fantastic too - great customer service . Highly recommend and would definately be back
The service and food was amazing.... Ever dish was so tasty and well prepared and our waitress was always making sure everything was fine and we were happy with our meals.
I highly recommend eating at Bomba.
We will be back again
The food was delicious. It was such a flavour sensation. An absolute delight for the senses.
Very friendly & helpful staff. I reccomend the beef tatare & creme catalana. Feeling pretty blissfully satisified.
Love this place. Always fabulous staff and the view is to die for. So good it's hard to pull yourself away to actually go and eat! Cocktails are amazing too. My only regret is that smoking is still allowed outside but that's a small price to pay.
Fantastic tapas and service. Cheese and leek croquettes were heavenly, and the lamb paella to die for!! Highly recommend!
Loved it.We had the $50 set menu.Amazing food and a really good wine list too. Will definitely come back.Sucha great and cosy space.
Had my bucks party at bomba last week (Thursday,12th) with 20 other mates, have to say I had an amazing night!! They looked after us really well. I can't remember the name of the girl who looked after us but she was too good and very accomodating as some of my mates came late but she got them every course without any hassle (did the set menu) I would always recommend you guys to my family and friends as I've never been disappointed!! Keep up the good work 👍👏
We opted for the set menu, requesting the only change to be for the natural oyster in the first course. WOW! The food and service were beyond amazing. So delicious and we had a fabulous night. Thank you
Incredible food and super friendly staff. Do yourself a favour and try this awesome place. We will definitely be back!!
Perfect ambience, attentive staff and fabulous food - our first Melbourne dinner experience and we weren’t disappointed. Thanks for a great night!!!
Simply my fave rooftop bar, vermouth menu & not to mention superb food & service
Loved the food, the wine, the service & the atmosphere.
One of the best Spanish in town, actually maybe the best.
We were meant to eat at Bomba after the Adele concert on Sunday, however, didn't make our booking so decided to visit for lunch the next day. The food is amazing! The tuna tartare is by far my favourite dish and the service is great too. Definitely recommend! Wish we had one in Sydney.
Great food and atmosphere, although tables are pretty close together.
We are gluten intolerant and we were catered to brilliantly with lots of yummy choices! Would definitely go back.
This place was amazing, fantastic food, we were there for a birthday and had the banquet, great value, was very accomadating for food intolerances.
Great to see Bomba Rooftop still going strong on our recent after works drinks visit. A good range of tap beer and some delightful looking cocktails too. There was only space at the southern end as opposed to the sunny northern side. Very echoey from all the chit chat of happy drinkers. Good selection of bar snacks, skewers and platters.

We came here for a midweek work function after a full on team building day and we were all ready for a relaxing drink. I loved the cozy rooftop space and we got there as it was just starting to get dark so the views of the city scrap and crawling cars were a joy. It's always good when someone else is paying for drinks but I liked the eclectic mix of beers on the menu, both local and further afield. I settled on the only tap beer which was a Four Pines Kolsch which is a easy drinking German styled beer. There were about 30 of us and the staff did well to keep sharing platters coming out fast. I really loved this tapas style food. The sweet corn was amazing. In fact there was plenty of vegetarian very tasty vegetarian options which I really enjoyed so a good spot to bring those mates of yours who don't partake in carnivorous activity. For those of us that do the lamb ribs were absolutely delicious. They also had plenty of heaters to keep the chill out of the air. Over all a very enjoyable experience.
What a fabulous find for a pre theatre drink and snack in a cracker venue. I went G and T with a chicken cheese and chilli delicious toastie. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great casual dining venue with a delicious menu. Large portion sizes. Espresso Martini was on point and a great way to kick start the evening. Great service and very affordable
Rooftop menu has a good selection of cocktails, mocktails, craft beers and tap. Limited tapas menu, but enough to be satisfying. Does require googling quite a few words if you don't speak Spanish or well versed in cheeses.
Freekah and cabbage salad, $8, was excellent.
A nice and cozy roof top bar with a chill vibe.
Tapas are good portions as snacks. Drinks are somewhat reasonably priced. Staff were attentive.
Another lunch time favourite close to work. Been here a few times with the team and usually go for worker’s lunch. Great food at a great price!
In Summer, nothing beats a rooftop bar on a warm, balmy night and Melbourne has plenty to choose from. Bomba at the top end of town is one of my faves. It's only a small space, and finding a seat can be tricky, but with great views, tasty drinks and delicious Spanish bar snacks, it's not a bad way to pass a few hours.
On this night we had Patatas Bravas, the crispy, golden potatoes topped with a delicious tomato sauce; the yummiest empenada, and the mouth watering jamon bikini... a great Spanish spin on the toastie. With some chilled wine and beers, this was a lovely way to spend the night.
Service is at the centally located bar, and is both efficient and friendly enough to keep us coming back.
Really wonderful atmosphere at night, and ambience.
The taps was amazing, each dish is well thought out and unique.
We took interstate guests who thoroughly enjoyed it.
Have a really great evening there. Was celebrating my wedding anniversary with my partner. The atmosphere on the rooftop is great! Fresh air, good drink, food and services! Really like the grilled lamb ribs. Amazing soft meat and full of lovely flavor. Good place for catchup!
I haven’t been here for a while so my partner and I dropped in here for s drink. The service is good and friendly.
The views are great and the punters friendly. I ordered a Solar Flare XXPA beer which I haven’t seen before and it was pretty tasty. It was a bit hoppy, not too sour like I was expecting.
My partner ordered a gin cocktail and it cane pre mixed in a perfume bottle to save time mixing them when things got busier later in the night! Yay!!! A bar that plans ahead! Woo hoo I’m definitely going back.
The Gin cocktail was delicious, and no perfume aftertaste hahaha
This place is good!
Love a good rooftop bar experience and Bomba is one of the best. Their menu isn't super veg friendly, but they do havea few good bar bites including cheeses, a grain salad and fried pumpkin. Cocktails are great and bartenders are skilled. Try the gin, Yuzu and elderflower! The bar also has a good range of craft beers and wine if you're of that persuasion. Definitely worth a visit - especially while the weather's still warm.
We came here for drinks after work and the atmosphere was really good! It does get packed after 5pm so head down a bit early if you want a seat! The newly renovated rooftop is really nice & the drinks menu is extensive. Coupled with delish patatas & friendly wait staff, you can’t go wrong!
A well-designed and cosy rooftop with much better local beer on tap than other "big-named" rooftops. Chic but unpretentious crowd (especially weekdays) with chill grooves (with moderate volume so you don't have to yell into peoples' ears) in the background makes time fly. Great view of city skyline + service is prompt (always with a smile). Melbourne - love the way your bar scene is evolving :)
The menu was extensive and there was a lot to chose from! The drinks were all very interesting and tasty with each having a unique flair. They were beautifully presented as well. They were a little bit pricey. They food was incredible. Every dish we tried has so much flavour. The toastier were a winner and such a good option to have with drinks. The place was a little bit small, dark and loud which mad it hard to get a table for food with lots of people just standing around. Would have liked some more tables and chairs. Other then that the meal was thoroughly enjoyed.
Really nice place for drinks. I would definitely go there again when the warmer weather hits. The cocktail list is small but they are quite good. Try the Club Barcelona and Sweet and Nice (warm cocktail) - yum!
Finally got to try this place!
The rooftop was amazing, a great vibe even midweek, was quiet buzzing around 7 pm and the views were nice... the staff were very nice and a good selection of tapas, which is so much fun, u get to order a whole bunch of different things and nibble ur way through dinner. Being a spanish joint I was excited to try their Sangria and I must say very intresting, not the usual jar full of ice and tiny bit of alchohol, it was served separately! U have to try to see what I mean :)
Newly refurbished and twice the original size, this rooftop bar on the 5th floor is a great place for cocktails and views of the city. It gets pretty busy so can get crowded.
BOMBA reopened in July this year, after a major renovation, and we’re happy to report that the revamp has made the venue even better than before.
Staff - amazing , food - incredible . A lovely experience and bth the salads and meat were so yummy. Massive wine list with such good prices!
Small, atmospheric and clearly very popular. It isn’t hard to see why though, as the service is quick and friendly, the range of booze is more than satisfactory, and the tapas is very good indeed!
Really nice atmosphere on Friday after work. Very nice wines and tapas however quite pricey for what you get and left feeling hungry. I would definitely return though
Cool place cute small place. Nice crowd and good drinks staff very helpful and professional didn’t have the tapas. But next time I will
And guys put a sign in the lift uno promotion you’re location
Nice rooftop bar with good drinks and finger food. Little cramped due to the layout so may need to get there early on a summers day. Nice place to start a date!
I've nothing but love for this awesome rooftop/terrace bar. Midweek it can be very suitey but hey it's in the city so can't be avoided! The nibbles are tasty, cocktails awesome and service friendly.
Bomba is one of my absolute favourite places in Melbourne. Whether it be tapas and drinks on the rooftop or paella downstairs, it seems I never want to leave and always stay a bit later than I should 😋
I've been here for drinks several times and it's always buzzing on the rooftop, so much so you will most likely have to stand. This used to be the Ayelsbury (which served up amazing cocktails) but now the menu is a Spanish tapas offering (several servings of the beer eggplant chips are a must). The fantastic view remains and it's easily the best thing about this space. A nice spot to have a post work vino
A nice place to chill and look at the view. We had the sangria hug and it is good for those who don't want a strong taste. The ladies serving were lovely.
This week @bombabar we experienced being like a Spaniard, feasting on their Spanish tapas cuisine and various Sherry choices accompanying the different meals. Was great, we loved the different cuisines, each were quite unique and had lovely flavours. Desert was also divine!!
Came for an afternoon drink and dinner with an out of town friend. Restaurant downstairs was booked out for a Good Food event so we headed up to the rooftop.
Such a beautiful space, I couldn't believed I'd never been to this roof before. Sangria was tasty and included spices dates (yum). Tapas come out quickly, had a great variety and really filled me up. The lamb ribs literally fell off the bone and the croquettes were little fried gems of amazing! Can't wait to come back during the warmer months
Good treasure in Melbourne! We had Gin Mare and a portuguese beer, Super Bock, with Tapas: Patatas Bravas, Lamb Ribs and Croquetas. Delicious! Very nice spot!
Great atmosphere, good bar tenders and good vibes. rooftop is a tad smaller so on a busy friday evening or even on the day when sun is out, it gets a bit too crowded. Good food and good selection of cocktails as well.
I would recommend the rooftop but not so much the food. We ordered the set menu and only about half the dishes were enjoyable. With all the great places Melbourne has to offer I find the quality set with the price it doesn't seem justified.
The best bartenders are the ones who introduce you to a drink they think you'll like, and you end up loving it. The girl who made my drink is an alcohol guru and I recommend she open a school for sagely drink advice. 5 stars.
One of the best Spanish meals that I had in Australia. Yes it's a little pricy but Spanish food is about the product and Bomba uses them. We had the rump and patatas and one dessert each and we were full.
Excellent food and wine, and service to match! I love the tapas here and I highly recommend the paellas. We shared a fresh seafood paella paired with a nice Tempranillo. Muy Bien!
My new go-to rooftop bar in Melbourne. Great vibe, nice staff, beautiful views and delicious espresso martinis. Take someone here you want to impress, a date or a friend from out of town. Quintessentially Melbourne :)
Came for a late night cocktail. Great cocktails. Very loud and crowded but that comes with a decent venue that knows how to mix drinks to a standard.

The biggest problem I encounter with Melbourne tapas restaurants is that portions perpetually seem too small. Just as with Melbournian street food markets, the food is always high quality but pricey for the quantity. Bomba fits this mould. I went with a friend to Bomba and we ordered the Eggplant Chips and the Braised Pork Cheek. We also received a complementary Patatas Bravas due to the delay in the service of our Eggplant Chips. I also ordered a glass of Tempranillo to wash it all down. The food was great, with nice Mediterannean and Middle Eastern influences. The crispy texture of both the eggplant chips and the potatoes went well with their respective condiments of Harissa and Aioli. The braised pork was meltingly tender, with flavours of the alcohol that it had been braised in (though sadly I had no photo of this due to the limited lighting on the rooftop!)
This was my final stop from my $1 YuMeal run in the city. As this was a one hour event for one day only there are only so many restaurants you can try within such a short time.
Bomba offered jamon croquettes made using jamon offcuts. It came out fresh from the fryers and was creamy and seasoned well.
Had a nice view too for an afternoon drink, which I thought was a good way to end our day from the frantic running to cover our purchases within the time frame given :)
Google search found this, busy lunch on Friday, got a table when two just finished up. On the counter by the kitchen so got to see it work which we enjoy. Had the lunch special, croquettes, lamb, freekah salad, braised lamb, calamari and patatas. All had great flavour and were cooked well. Favourites were lamb and croquettes. Had a couple cocktails which were good but not great. Staff were pretty nice and looked pretty organized even with a full restaurant. Would recommend and go again
The little brother of the ground level establishment, great atmosphere and good layout. Limited tapas menu , extraordinary drinks menu. Overall a good place . The night we came they had a function , so will give them the benefit of the doubt on slow service.

I went to bomba with my friends for dinner Amazing food and service, friendly staff, will come back for sure, never knew about this place before, strongly recommended,
After work drink crowd makes the most of this compact roof top space. With Pol Roger available by the glass at $19 we didn't try the cocktails however they looked to be a popular choice. If you are non smoker at times it's a little small to escape the wafts.
Really good place for a quiet drink and bite after work. Laid back atmosphere and decent prices.
Could probably do with an extra staff member on Thursdays but no complaints.
One of Melbourne's great rooftop spots. Food isn't cheap but it is tasty. Tapas at altitude is a great experience. Service is very good. Looking forward to a summer visit
Great atmosphere , hidden gem!!!. Went here with friends for tapas and drinks... Great little place hidden away ! Perfect for summer drinks and nibbles
Really really nice restaurant!!! The food was really good and tasty.. The kitchen is nice, clean and open. The paella was beautiful! Good service! I'll back for sure! Ps. Still and sparkling water is complementary..and the bread just AMAZING!

One of Melbourne's best. This place consistently ticks all the boxes for a top night out. Excellent bar staff, delicious tapas and a cool atmosphere. Excellent first date material.
We had a work function booking for 25 ppl On a Monday evening frI'm 6.00pm. One lone barman. The rooftop was packed in our arrival. Cocktails were nothing exciting. Service incredibly slow. Then downstairs for tapas
WONDERFUL SERVICE. Came here with a friend for some late night drinks. The lady at the bar was SO nice and was happy to help out with our choice of cocktails and the man who took us up the lift was super friendly and happy to accommodate for two more people in his already busy rooftop area.
So nice and refreshing to have an indi popular place that doesn't treat you like crap just because they can't be bothered dealing with you.
THANKYOU BOMBA, I'LL BE BACK
Drunken arrival turned into fun coNov with three bar legends who knew their drinks... great night thanks girl with bob, peter and arwen x
Excellent tapas and amazing cocktails!!! Will definitely be back soon
Amazing cocktails, the one with lavender was perfect. Tapas food very good, especially patatas bravas and lamb skewer. Bar staff seemed to really know their cocktails, great service. We'll be back.
Had snacks in mind before we went to a late night film. Stumbled across bomba and saw a few tasty menu options. Unfortunately downstairs was packed but we were offered to go upstairs to this rooftop bar. The bar menu was small but ticked all the boxes we had in mind for tapas. Oysters. Pinchos were lovely. Potatas bravas was simple rustic and yummy! Amazing barman rocked the cocktails when it got busier and the lovely waitress was sure to get our food and drinks to us in timely fashion as we had to leave before 9pm.
Next time we would love a sit down meal downstairs as the food was great and the service was first class.
Great little rooftop space. Bartender with the bob was a stunner. Such charisma. Great drinks. This place is a winner.
Drinks with the crew tonight and dinner at Bomba Downstairs before this. It was very crowded when we arrived but we were the last ones to leave and therefore the whole place was empty. We could afford to stay on late because we went on a weekday and no one goes for drinks on a weekday night right Bomba Rooftop is an easy pick if you want a casual environment with fresh air, no aircon needed. All you really need is just great company to seal a great night deal. Bomba Rooftop 103 Lonsdale Street, CBD Melbourne, Victoria 3000 Australia Tel: +(61) 03 9077 0451

Overall, I thought the food at Bomba was very good and must say that it is now my favourite Spanish tapas restaurant in Melbourne. I really do. Forget about Movida or whatever just come here next time and you won't be disappointed. Maybe grab drinks before that at the rooftop bar and see if you happen to crash an engagement party too =)
The Aylesbury Restaurant has gone back to its Spanish roots and has reopened as Bomba Tapas Bar. The restaurant is in good hands, with Jesse Gerner (Añada, Moro, River Café) and Andrew Fisk (Añada, Cumulus Inc) heading the kitchen. Already becoming the new cool kid on the block, this latest Melbourne culinary addition creates dishes with fresh, seasonal ingredients, shaping a dining experience inspired by a simpler lifestyle. The kitchen serves both original and classic recipes using the freshest ingredients. The wine list is compiled by Shane Barrett (Sommelier at Circa, Beverage Manager Pearl and the Lucas Group). There is a distinct emphasis on Indigenous Spanish varieties from small artesian producers. You won’t find many of these labels on any other wine list in Melbourne. Many of these wines are imported directly from Spain by the restaurant
We ordered set menu- $65/pp. Great food & good portion (4/5 ⭐️).
We found it quiet interesting(?) that sourdough bread was part of the starters and fried potatoes were in the mains.
We underestimated the portion by looking at the first two rounds of dishes coming in!! We were so full!
We wished that desserts were included in the set menu. Anyway we ordered it and it was amazing!
Great ambiance as well, music was not too loud and service was friendly. I felt really comfortable eating there. Sparkling water was free.
Food here is great though on the pricier side, especially for some of the tapas which are priced individually. Drinks were fair but probably not to our liking. Service could have been less rushed especially when running through a menu style that’s a bit different to what most are used to.
A friend recommended this place so I booked it for my lil sisters birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing! Had a great view, great food and cocktails, and the staff were so lovely! We ordered the first tapas menu (changed to cater to vegan) and it was SO DELICIOUS. Would love to go back and try the other tapas option soon!
$65 set menu - great food (4/5). I thought it was excellent value for the sheer amount of food and the variety. We also ordered extra bone marrow toast. Service was friendly and approachable and it’s a nice ambience.
From the team behind Añada, Bomba was born. Serving also tapas-style Spanish cuisine, Bomba felt a lot more casual. We ordered the chargrilled quail, baked Hervey Bay scallops, Leek and Manchego croqueta, Crab, Lamb ribs, and a couple of desserts. None of the dishes disappointed us, but my favourites were the croqueta and Lamb ribs; the croqueta was so cheesily creamy on the inside with a thin crispy shell, and the Lamb ribs were very succulent. Despite being a very busy night, service was prompt and friendly.
Dimly lit during night time, Bombabar was a good place to catch up with friends, bustling with laughter and loud conversation.
We had an early booking and started off with cocktails, which were delicious, refreshing, and hard to fault. The red wine sangria was too easy to drink with just the right amount of sweetness and spice to purvey a great meal with friends.
Although some of the food was hit-and-miss, they were mostly delicious. The standouts for the montaditos were the “bone marrow, Wagyu cecina”, which was sweet and savoury at once --we’ll be dreaming of this for days to come! The “escalivada of eggplant, capsicum & shallot” had a smoky flavour we loved. Of the mains, the vegetarian dish was the star: we really loved the “cauliflower, saffron, paprika & sorrel,” which had a thin char enhanced by a creamy sauce. These went extremely well with the “heirloom tomato, burrata, pickled onions” verduras.
The bits we didn’t like were the “paella of barramundi, pipis, calamari, scampi” and the tapas of “charcoal grilled pork belly, Pedro Ximenez, apple, fennel chicharrones”. Although they cooked the seafood well, I didn’t get as much flavour in the rice; we would have picked another dish from the raciones instead. As for the pork, I couldn’t get a hint of the sherry, apple, or fennel. It tasted a lot like other, middling pork belly in Melbourne. The "patatas bravas" were too salty but filled us up nicely.
The staff seated us quickly and the time between tapas and the mains was long enough for hearty conversation. Our server was attentive and efficient --our drink orders arrived quickly, too, and kept us occupied for the wait for paella, which was well within the expected 30 minutes. There are no specials here, but the server explained the menu clearly, and kept our water glasses full.
In all, we had a wonderful experience, and our only regret was the pricey but not impressive paella. This is a bustling bar with delicious cocktails and good food, lively for a night of catching up, and would be a great choice while on this end of Lonsdale St.

Bomba Restaurant and Rooftop has been a front runner for Spanish food in Melbourne for years and have recently undergone a million dollar renovation. It is unpretentious and cosy, with intimate seating and moody lighting downstairs, and amazing views of the city from the rooftop terrace upstairs. 🏙
The restaurant menu is tapas style designed to be shared. At the time of dining they were only doing two set menu options $65 or $85 however their A La Carte menu is now back on offer. As I had a @payo_australia voucher to spend we went with the $85 which had 10 dishes. 🇪🇸
Their Garlic and Chive Croquettes were some of the softest and lightest I’ve ever had and the Octopus had that amazing, strong BBQ flavour to it. The Pork Belly was rendered well and complimented beautifully with the peperonata. The potatoes were super crispy and the additional churros with gooey chocolate sauce we ordered for dessert was perfection. 🍫
Unfortunately the Lamb was really fatty, the small pieces of meat we did get though tasted really nice. The Asparagus, Eggplant and Moreton Bay bugs were quite average.
The 10 dishes averaged at around $17 each which in the end seemed abit pricey considering they were all very small. I think the value could have been improved by even just including dessert. My score may have been higher if it wasn’t a set menu because there were some dishes on there i wouldn’t have ordered. I would definitely return again for the A La Carte or to check out the rooftop snack menu.
⭐️ 4/5 (Great)
