Good service and great drinks. Just make sure you’re up for a few stairs to build up the thirst
Wonderful place, with excellent ambiance. The staff are very friendly and the service was very prompt and efficient. We only stayed for a couple of drinks and some snacks as we had to head somewhere else for dinner, but will definitely be back for some more.
Popping in for a late night drink, Seamstress is one of those hidden gems of Melbourne that is worth looking for. After climbing several flights of stairs we came upon the bar. It's a very dark and intimate space, with luxe furnishings prefect for lounging back over a few drinks. I absolutely love the decor, with so many Asian garments hanging from the ceiling.
There is a great drinks list, and my other half chose to try the rum flight. The very knowledgeable barman talked him through the choices and they ended up having quite the conversation about their favourite drops. The staff in general were excellent... very personable and friendly and more than helpful.
With so many yummy bar snacks to choose from, we settled upon a tasting plate, and we enjoyed all the lovely pieces. The dumplings were so good, and the fritters and pork belly were so tasty.
I'm so glad that we ventured out to this cute bar. It has a great theme, and a fun vibe and we will be back again.
Great ambience and service. Quirky, funky, dark and moody. Not too big and loud to rule out conversation. Great cocktails. Thanks for a great night.
Located in the basement of Lonsdale St Parliament Station Seamstress is the ideal venue for after work drinks. Elaborate beer wine and spirit list coupled with delicious nibbles to go will leave you craving for more.
Yes yes yes. Excellent and varied cocktails, good service, classic building, delightful furnishing. Not too busy, not too rushed. It’s spot on. A hidden gem for cocktails.
Our go to venue pre-show! We've never been disappointed here - the bar staff are exceptional, they love what they do and it shows! The ambience is laid back with great blues, the food always a brilliant match to the outstanding cocktail selection (beware! you can never just stop at one!) I have recommended so many people and the feedback is always the same - "why haven't I been here sooner!"
This is a perfect place for a late night drink, excellent food and solid drink list. Nice spot to sit and relax. Staff really friendly and helpful.
I don't know why this place has such low ratings because I absolutely love it! I've been here twice and the service was impeccable both times. We could always get a table even if we were a huge group of 8-10. The drinks menu was rather extensive too - there were enough options for everyone, be it if you're a whisky lover, gin connoisseur or martini fan.
Sometimes they'd open a bar tab for the table, but it's really up to you. We paid for our drinks individually. The atmosphere was lovely too - very oriental and rustic with cheongsams being hung up on the ceiling. This is a great cosy place for catching up!
Had dinner downstairs, then ventured up to free up our table for a later sitting, which we were more than happy to do after the level of service we received. The cocktail bar was just as awesome... Sexy, intimate, dark, whispery almost. I joked if we weren't on our anniversary it would be my next first date joint. I got a slap for that, but then she agreed.
I had a vodka espresso, Maddy had a house cocktail form the board. Those guys know EXACTLY what they're doing in that bar. I've never seen such sleek service.
Had a great evening guys. Thanks heaps.
I've been here a few times and love it. The service is always great. We ordered the soft shell crab sliders and they didn't disappoint. A mouthful of deliciousness and the lightest burger bun. Very tasty.

Incredible venue! Great, well thought out drinks, casual but attentive attentive service. One of the best in town! Not just great for pre show or dinner drink but for a delicious nightcap also
Great venue for drinks with friends after a show. Great music (not too loud - so you can chat), cool space, beautiful cocktails, friendly staff.
Phenomenal cocktails and gorgeous brightly coloured fit out with hanging lanterns befitting of the Asian cuisine and draped clothing embodying the name. A great spot for a drink before heading to the dining room but also prior to eating elsewhere in Chinatown. I use this as a starting point before hitting up a variety of bars on a Friday night and it's a really classy and fun way to kick off
A good place to hang and catch up with friends. Bartenders certainly pride themselves and claim to make one of the best daiquiris in melbourne. Will be able to grab a nibble downstairs if you're feeling peckish.
The overhanging clothes seem a little excessive to me. You'll get it when you head up to the cocktail bar.
Classiest, cosiest, sexiest cocktail bar around. Took the new boyfriend here recently for date night, and he was impressed beyond belief.
Great fit out without being pretentious, and such professional service from the bar tenders without getting too hipster (WIN).
Have been here a number of times and the staff are always attentive and friendly, and have recognised me a couple of times, which is always lovely. The cocktails are off the charts, and are right up there with international standards.
Keep up the stellar work gang :)
For entrees, I ordered the Crispy Softshell Crab and Flame Wok-tossed Vegetables. The crab was impeccable. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Bursting with flavour, succulent, crispy, well-sauced. The vegetables were light and crunchy – delicious.
My main was the Crispy Pork Belly. It lived up to its name: crispy! I particularly enjoyed the cashew and peanut garnish and Red Dragon Sauce. However, I felt that some of the pork pieces needed more of the sauce; also, the Vietnamese mint salad was rather bland.
The ambience is excellent – the music wasn't blasting during lunch time, making it the perfect place for a good conversation with friends or colleagues.
This lovely restaurant offered delicious food and drinks in a beautifully decorated location with an interesting history.
Looking at the menu, we were thinking that we may be short on food with the banquet but we were totally wrong. The banquet provided a more than ample, thoroughly enjoyable serving for our large party.
There is a cocktail bar upstairs as well.
Definitely worth a visit!
Fantastic welcoming staff. Wide range of different Asian fusion foods. We told them what we liked and how hungry we were, and out came the food.
Well made cocktails, good wines
Bottom line
$220 for two. Recommend.
Came for a work function and discovered my next go-to restaurant in Melbourne.
With a theme of a Chinese Laundry, your experience starts when you step fit into the top floor restaurant and cocktail bar. With traditional Chinese dresses hanging from the ceiling, you're whipped away into gastronomic delights. Modern Asian done well, it's difficult to go wrong with any selection. My two picks would be the crispy Brussels sprouts and the Pumpkin custard. While not your usual selections, you won't be disappointed abs talk to the inventiveness of the rest of the menu. Recommended!
The service was the superstar of the evening here - you can tell they enjoy what they do. Brilliant. The moneybag dumplings our favourite, go for the large serving. Not a fan of the trout, was delicious but not a $36 portion. Will go back to try the other meals, plus, it’s a cool Melbourne restaurant.
