Went here last night and was thrilled at the service provided. We called up before arriving to ensure they do gluten free options as im a celiac and they made note of it on the booking. When we arrived they replaced not only my cutlery and plate but also my napkin to ensure no cross contamination and made me aware of the gluten free options they had available. The food was of the highest quality and the service was to match. Would recommend anyone to go give this place a crack
My husband & I had dinner here on Friday night, the waiter that served us was very friendly & very welcoming. Was a great atmosphere to eat, the food was amazing!! Definitely recommend to people coming to Melb for the first time. We will definitely be back next time we are in Melb again. Cheers guys! xx
Presently eating at this beautiful restaurant. Family run, very friendly, great service and delicious food. Highly recommend to my Sydney and Melbourne friends
Have been there twice for family get togethers.
Food is first class , the staff our friendly and helpful, and the menu is great as there is something for all tastes and budgets, kids through to seniors.
They have a separate function room which is perfect for get togethers , as our family can be quite loud.
Again , The food is simply first class
During my numerous business trips to Melbourne, I often dine at Il Duca (for both lunch and dinner).
David, Dominique, and their team provide consistently good service...always warm and welcoming.
The food on offer is outstanding...modern Italian, yet traditional. I've never had a bad meal at Il Duca.
My favourite dishes (in no particular order) are Vitello Piccata; Chicken & Mushroom Risotto; Grilled Spatchcock; Pork Ribeye.
The lunch specials offer exceptional value for money (something I always rate very highly when reviewing a restaurant).
The wine list is extensive and interesting, and very well priced.
Writing this review has me looking forward to my next trip to Melbourne the week of November 18, when I'll once again dine at Il Duca...!
Ordered the Fish of the Day (Swordfish) paired with a Fat Yak Pale Ale. Lovely panfried fresh swordfish cooked perfectly and complimented with a lovely sauce. The pale ale was also a good match for the flavour of the fish. Had the creme brûlée for dessert which was also tasted nice.
A great place to dine before an event at MCG or Rod Laver. There are not many restaurants in the area, so be sure to book as it was jam packed at 6pm. We tried the Lasagna and Gnocchi with sausage ragu. Both were very tasty. The garlic bread was a little disappointing. We felt it was dry and lacked flavour. For dessert we tried the creme brûlée with lime and cardamon. This was light, not too sweet and the perfect ending to our meal. Service was very efficient but perhaps some extra smiles would be nice from the wait staff.
We were staying at the Pullman on the Park for a conference and a group of us wandered up the road for a meal. We came across Il Duca and decided Italian suited everyone. The meals were fantastic. Especially the gnocci, lasagne and seafood pizza. One of our group wanted to lick the plate it was so good! Service was excellent too and the meals were really well priced. Can highly recommend this restaurant and it's pretty much opposite the MCG so great for a meal before or after the footy.
Great place for all food; but the Italian dishes are superb. As is the menu, the wine and the service. Go there if you want a great dinner and night out, or for a family gathering.
Really loved our visit here. This is a great restaurant if you're attending a show at the nearby tennis centre or MCG. Be sure to let them know if you need to be out by a certain time. We got here early to make sure we were not late for the start of our show. One in our group is a vegan and the restaurant was able to nicely cater for her. This is a fairly traditional Italian restaurant, and with traditional Italian wait staff that know their work. It just leaves you will a feeling of confidence when you are served by experienced staff. We started with some fresh bread served with evoo and the grilled calamari dish which was served with a orange and fennel salad. Even though our (vegan) friend did not order an entre, they brought her a small serve of the orange and fennel salad so that she had something to nibble on whilst we ate our entre. For mains our group ordered a vegetarian risotto, veal scallopine, fettuccine bolognese, and eye fillet steak. We all loved our meals. I had the veal scallopine and it was one of the best I've had. Can't wait to come back here. The food was great but it really was the staff that are the major draw card. Very strong feeling of familiarity! Can't believe I didn't take any photos on this occasion.
A very classy Italian place with pleasant ambience. We came here for lunch and were quite pleased by the service and overall experience. The food itself however was not out of this world.. standard traditional Italian fare. We decided to get an entrée sized pasta and risotto, two sides and two pizzas. Out of all the food my favourite was the entrée sized mushroom risotto. I have always been an avid fan of risotto and this was able to meet my expectations :) Everything else was nice, but like I said, not earth shattering and could possibly do a little bit better. It was an enjoyable meal overall and I would recommend this place as a good choice for a dinner date or work gatherings.
Visited for dinner with friends, not having been here for a few years. Not many patrons on the night we visited, but were told the restaurant had been full at an earlier sitting; mainly people who dined before going to the footy at the MCG across the road.
The service has always good & remains so; friendly waiters who are prepared to give a full run down on the menu & advice on a good Italian wine. The menu has a list of tried & proven favourites & the specials board contained some very tempting selections as well. Not going to give a full run down on what we ordered, suffice to say all of us enjoyed our selections. The good thing about the main courses in particular, they are not stingy and there is usually a side dish that you DON'T have to pay for.
Also enjoyed a couple of very nice bottles go Italian wine.
Its not a cheap night out to dine here, but its certainly not overpriced for a fine dining experience.
Had lunch with friends here over 6 months ago.
We had the eye-fillet, twice roasted duck, a veggie pizza and vegetarian ravioli.
+ Ambience is alright.
+ Price: some people said this place is a bit pricey but I find it's alright.
+ Food: we had eye-fillet, twice roasted duck, a veggie pizza and vegetarian ravioli.
Friends said they liked the eye-fillet, pizza and ravioli ok.
With the roasted duck, just felt like the presentation to be worked on and was the meat supposed to be tender? Because it wasn't (maybe I'm being picky here?)
I normally have pasta and I have to say I really love them! So will definitely come back, for pasta.
The Duke ....
Classic Italian diner, great "family" ambiance and full with patrons. Much improved as it used to be in a smaller premise a few doors away, closer to Punt Road.
Always enjoyed their service, very pleasant and personal, the guys been doing it for years.
Their food is always consistent and good wines too, reasonably priced too.
Always enjoyable, thank you, la dolce vita.
Great ambient, great service and fantastic food! Highly recommended the seafood fettuccine, big serving and the amount of seafood was very generous.
Dined here soon after moving into the area. Great ambience and well patronised on a week night. The staff were attentive and friendly and the dishes were true Italian and delicious! We will be back.
What a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgable. They showed a genuine love for the restaurant and looked after us like we were a member of their family. The lasagna, ragout and fish were excellent, full of flavour and beautifully cooked. I can't wait to go back.
Absolutely gorgeous - perfect food, lovely lighting, warm and comfortable. Excellent service, very friendly, exquisite food and lovely setting.
View of MCG gorgeous.
Highly recommended!
Delicious!. Not quite sure why the low rating on Urbanspoon, husband took me there for my birthday and we both really enjoyed our meal. Granted I won't call this place fine dining but for the price they charge versus the service and food they dish out I think they are on the mark.
Its a friendly Italian restaurant, the place is not massive so when it is full it can be quite noisy, but thats part of the charm of this place I think. Our meals arrive at the right timing, service was attentive but not over the top.Tiramisu was so yum!
Husband and I were both really pleased with our meals and we will definitely be back!
Went here for a friend's birthday in the private room yesterday and the food and service was delicious! Fresh and wholesome Italian food!
Can't Wait to Go Back!. I love this restaurant, the menu has a great range of Italian dishes, my favourite being the meatballs! I've been to Italy 5 times and this restaurant has better food then what I've had there! Can't wait to come back! Staff are always attentive and friendly. Best place to go for Italian in the city!
Just a gem. What a fantastic meal last night, Ralph and family make you so welcome. The gnocchi my dinner partner said was the best she has ever tasted!! Mains delicious wine perfect, just made for the perfect pre Xmas dinner.
Rick and Jane
Service was attentive but not intrusive. I had the fish which was so fresh and absolutely amazing. It was served on a bed of vegetables, not like other places which make you buy sides when the price of the main should include it. Very impressed and I have been to this place on two other occasions.
The best Italian restaurant in Melbourne!! Awesome service very friendly people
Loved it. The food was traditional Italian and the pastas were perfectly cook. Wil go again.
We love Il Duca!. My partner and I come here at least once a fortnight, we are always thrilled with our food and the service is always friendly and attentive. The lemon crepes are a consistent favourite and I highly recommend the scallops.
Our preferred place to dine throughout Melbourne and we are lucky to live so close to such a wonderful restaurant. Bravo!
One of the local places my wife and I frequent because the menu is very nicely put together and is quite well executed. However, there is no escaping the obvious fact that the service from some of the waiters can be... just plain wierd. For instance, our last visit was on a Wednesday evening around 7ish. Place was nearly deserted. We were asked if we had a reservation. No, just thought we would pop in. No problem, says the older, bald waiter, just wait at the bar while we set up a table. Be ready in 5 or 10 minutes. Ok, we say, confusedly glancing around at the 12 to 15 unoccupied tables already set. As we approach the bar, a young waiter comes out and immediately offers us our choice of table. Huh? Couldn't help but think the older waiter was taking the piss... but why?
Lunch club attended Il Duca and we were very impressed from the service from Ralph and his staff and the meals were of excellent standard. We highly recommend Il Duca.
Il duca is like my second kitchen! We go there reguraly because the food is so delicious! The staff are also very friendly
Enjoyed the most beautiful meal (Chefs specially made a Carbonara), the entree size was perfect. My Husband had the lamb shanks which in his words were ‘just incredible’. The venue is beautiful, with linen tablecloths, good wine selection. The staff and service were top notch. The tables were very spaced. Nice of the owner ‘Dom’ to have a short chat with us, it just added to top off the evening.
So glad to have had the chance to have dinner here. I had the rib eye, my wife had the risotto, and my daughter had the gnocchi. All dishes were perfectly delicious. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. This place has a warm family atmosphere and I believe they host live entertainment on some nights. I highly recommend.
This is a really great restaurant. The food is consistently at a high standard, the service is great and the owners are fabulous people who make you feel welcome every time.
I met friends here for a meal prior to a footy match at the MCG. It was very busy but the staff were incredibly efficient and professional. The meals, entree, main and dessert, were excellent quality.
Cozy and clean place, friendly staff with caring, delicious meal. We ordered a sweet potato soup, veg risotto and pene with slow cooked lamb
What a great night, food fantastic, staff brilliant, atmosphere is wonderfully warm and inviting, listening to the songs of Carol King by sung by Raleigh Williams. Great night, highly recommend.
Ideal setting with a great atmosphere, excellent food and wine with very friendly service. Highly recommended whether you are in a business trip or simply hanging with some friends.
Fabulous place to get together and enjoy a magnificent meal! The customer service was fabulous - friendly, spot on with their advice and great family stories as well if you ask. A tad more expensive than the places I usually go to but am happy to spend the money. Loved the swordfish!
