Review Queen Street Rescue - Melbourne

Daniel Masters
I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was served at a good temperature. The beer batter was crispy, and the aioli complemented it well. However, the fish was dry and largely flavourless, which was disappointing. The chips were soggy and cold. On the upside, the service was friendly and polite.

Just as good as I remembered. I'd enjoyed lunch at QSR about three years ago and when it came up in a search for early Sunday breakfasts I didn't need to keep searching. My friends and I had a delicious meal in very comfortable seating at a generous sized table that was well spaced apart from other tables. The staff made us feel welcome and had a laugh with us. Water was brought to the table within a minute of us being seated and without having to ask. Coffee was served exactly as ordered, in good time and fabulous quality. Perfect poached eggs, generous portions and served hot. And we really appreciated that we didn't feel pressured to vacate the table and were able to relax and chat. QSR is going on our favorites list.

Found this place on Dimmi and made a very short notice booking for 8. Meals were served up relatively quick. The poke bowl was good. Not exactly a poke bowl as you had to pay extra for protein and pickles. If you didn't add them it's basically rice with some vegies. Service was good. They allowed us to split the bill as it was fairly quiet in there. Book through dimmi and you'll receive 50% off food for the month of july.

Perfect spot to chill after a long day exploring the city. Great food, great atmosphere, books available for free and great staff. The offer of food is big, excelente salads and big plates available. Tip: it’s open on Sunday until late. They serve coffee so if you want a late coffee in the afternoon this is a great place to go!

The Belgian waffles are AMAZING! These aren't your average continental breakfast waffles, these are the CLOSEST I've had to legit Belgian waffles from Belgium. If you don't know the difference, go find out for yourself. They're VERY sweet.

Small restaurant right in the heart of the city. Affordable food with generous portions. Service was a little slow but they had a lot of full tables.once we ordered the food it came out rather quickly.enjoyed arancini, a Parma and pizza. Recommend for small groups, couples and travellers. It's has an outdoor section for people to enjoy drinks and fresh air.
William Rouse
Wide range of delicious food, would highly recommend the veal and pork bolognese. Very prompt and friendly staff. Fantastic prices as well.

Great coffee and customer service ! However expected bit more quality foods. Egg Benedict was over boiled

this place has an excellent menu, good choice of gluten free foods, vegetarian and a vegan dish what else can you want. My friend and I stayed in Melbourne for 2 nights and we ate here both nights. I chose the chicken parma the first night , and I could modify it to my diet needs, My friend chose the mushroom risotto, enjoyed it so much that she had the same again the second night (gluten free dish) I had the Vegan pot pie with steamed vegetables the next night, it was amazing tasted wonderful, next year when we are back in Melbourne for the Australian quilt convention, we will back . The service was excellent, friendly staff, would highly recommend this place to eat
Mary Kate
Not impressed, one of the meals was served burnt and dry, was not eaten. Knowingly management deducted price of tea from bill. Terrible brew as the teapot lid didn't close.

Oh. My. God. How is this place so damn good?! Fantastic service, sangria, food and atmosphere! Will be coming back next time one Melbourne!
Mark Wallis
The food and staff were excellent. Would highly recommend QSR to anyone going to Melbourne.

Fabulous breakfast and delicious coffee, (its hard to find a decent coffee), the bacon and egg roll is enough for 2

Amazing staff, meal & service! Steak cooked to perfection. All staff made us feel very welcome. Will be at the top of the list for our next visit to Melbourne!

Surprise little find on our last night in Melbourne and a place I would be happy to recommend to everyone. The food was delightful and the staff were warm, genuine and friendly. You can tell they take pride in their work and enjoy what they do. Thank you for looking after us!

Used this place frequently while staying in Melbourne, very friendly place. Good food and wine, fast free wifi.

Great atmosphere service and staff, excellent coffee. Hot chocolate must be wonderful too because it was gone in a flash! Wonderful to chill there by day and a fun vibe in the evening. We love it! Thanks guys, it's always a pleasure to be there.

This place is awesome food is great and the staff are brilliant love this place. We had my sons 18th birthday party and they were so good.
Jenna Mallios
Fantastic service. Amazing food. Gnocchi was so tasty! Will be back here for round two when I visit Melbourne next

Love this place!! The team come here at least once a year. Great service and yummy food! You need chicken in your Caesar salad! :P
Angela
Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, the fish and chips were below average as the texture of the fish was soggy and appeared to be microwaved instead of fried. The salad was enjoyable, with the salmon and avocado being generous. The dips were tasty but a little overpriced. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes, but we won’t be returning any time soon.

Amazing service venue with great options . <br/>The service was amazing . The steak was Cooked medium rare exactly . Meals came quickly . <br/>The plate setting was good and taste fresh.

2.5 Below Average<br/><br/>Attached to Adina apartment hotels is Queen Street Rescue which seems to just about do everything, a mix between a cafe and pub. Sounds dangerous? It is.<br/><br/>I got their beef burger which tasted a bit like a fast food burger, the brioche bun was a bit crinkley, airy and the ingredients kept sliding all over the place. The patty was on the dry side and uninspiring. Comes with chips on the side.<br/><br/>The pricing for the quality given is quite high, I could name 10 other establishments in the CBD that can do a better burger at a fraction of the cost. They do however have inhouse deals and can cater for larger groups. Probably just a once off for me.
Mohamed Rashid
The service was fantastic and if i would give it 10 start i would to. <br/>
Om Nom Nom
Wish I could give 4.5 stars since almost everything was fantastic - the only sticking point was that the mains took a bit longer to come out than we expected, but service was very friendly, portion sizes were generous, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the calamari, the batter was crisp and the calamari was so soft, not rubbery and chewy at all.

We found this little pub via EatClub which offers a 30% off discount, we came here for late lunch.. and there were a numbers of tables that were occupied so thankfully we booked ahead via EatClub.. I ordered the meat lover pizza which had bacon, pepperoni & chicken, the pizza base was not too thick and it was very tasty.. my friend ordered the chicken Parma it was half the regular, the chips were fresh and crispy, the chicken tastes good and it was good value for lunch using the EatClub deal..

We ordered a gluten free capricciosa pizza, spaghetti bolognese and cauliflower steak. I believe the cauliflower steak has since been removed from the menu, which is honestly a good call. Despite being a nice concept with lots of potential, it was tasteless. The base of the pizza was clearly from the frozen aisle, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because it may have been due to the fact that we did order the gluten free version. As you can see from the photo, the toppings were quite scant. Overall, the food isn't terrible, but doesn't live up to the price.

This hip urban space in Melbourne's CBD is a welcoming retreat from the cold with its effervescent fit-out, attentive service and creative cuisine. Queen Street Rescue Restaurant Bar dishes out contemporary Australian fare with unique flavour combinations. The restaurant has a rustic, weathered look about it, from the shabby chic wall panels in white, baby green and lilac hues to the long timber tables with their bucolic-style wooden chairs. Great food, wine and some old fashioned table service where the wait staff do more than just take your order but make you feel like you've been coming here for years! We also cater for those needing a Gluten Free menu

I called in here for a drink and the service was pretty ordinary. I ordered my beer, and I was told by the waitress that she'd bring it out but the person behind me were given their 2 drinks at their table first. When I asked the waitress she told me that my drink was coming. Yes I knew that lol <br/><br/>The beer on tap was the French Kronunburg 1664 which was the first time I’ve had this on tap.<br/><br/>The crowd was mixed, and given the service was pretty average I only stayed for 1.
Maro
Food was pretty good and wait staff attentive. I wasn’t happy that discount wasn’t applied to the bill which I only realised after we were on the way home and no follow up on an email to them about it.
Melody
I love the atmosphere of the place. Unfortunately one of my poached egg was a little overdone so instead, it was a soft boiled. The hollandaise was a bit too much on the buttery side for me.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: I’ve walked past multiple times but had never given it a chance - but I’m glad I did. <br/><br/>🍩Lizzie enjoyed: the nachos were delicious. The baos were also very tasty and exactly what I needed for a pre dinner snack. We also tried the calamari and it was cooked really well. <br/><br/>🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: the fitout of the place isn’t the newest but it has plenty of seats. <br/><br/>🥇Lizzie rates overall: staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was like comfort food! Would come back!
Foodies
Though Chicken Parma was good, not worth the price what you get for Mushroom Risotto which was dull, tasteless and not cheesy!! Had better mushroom risotto for cheaper price. Ice cream was icy too (except chocalate). Also the manager looked sad and never greeted us even when serving or even after paying the bill. Clearly shows in his face that either he is having a bad day or not happy working there! Not recommend this place unless you wanna hangout with mates for a beer or have coffee by meeting your family / parents on Sunday (which I did witness that day)
The Hungry Vegan
Found this place on Dimmi 's food month specials (50% off selected restaurants in July) and thought I would check it out. Was pleasantly surprised! Was a busy night and the waitresses were super friendly. The food was also so good! Had the vegan pot pie and the pear cake with butterscotch sauce 🙌🏽 Would definitely recommend for a casual weeknight dinner!

A go to for their delicious express lunch menu, the guys here have great service and it’s a cozy spot. Basically anywhere that gives me wine for lunch is winning!

Enjoyed our meals here. Our table had crispy chicken hamburger and wagyu beef hamburger with fries. Both hamburgers really tasty good size, fries fresh and crunchy, cooked perfectly. Also had the bbq lovers pizza which was ok. Drinks at standard prices. Saturday night over school holidays not overly busy. Friendly quick service.
Whenfoodiesmeet
We randomly stumbled upon Queen street rescue and ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger with french fries (this was delightful) and we had the pulled pork bao (not the best we had - but the baos were fluffy). Their meals offered generous servings for the amount you pay for. Overall, a great place if you are looking for a meal to fill you up.
Angel Khong
Loved QS Rescue’s nightly specials; delicious meals at very good prices. Tried their crispy fried southern style wings and they were quite flavourful and came with a great selections of dipping sauces and sides. Their menu seemed to be similar to that of a typical pub and so was their atmosphere. So not the coziest but suitable if you wanted to grab quick drinks and meals after work.
Daniel
I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was served at a good temperature, but was dry and largely flavourless. The fries were soggy and cold.<br/><br/>On the upside, the service was friendly and polite.
Disommer
Ordinary overpriced breakfast. Had poached eggs with a tiny teaspoonful of smashed avo on the side that tasted more like squeezed lemon than avo. Ordinary butter soaked toast. Nothing imaginative. Bill was $52 for two coffees and two eggs on toast with an extra. Staff ignored us and seemed too busy setting up for lunch. Probably better as a pub.
Penguineats
It as overall a half decent Parma. For the lowly, discounted cost of $12, it was definitely worthy of its price tag and petty good value for money.<br/><br/>However, the headline price tag of $24 does seem a bit rich given the cheap ingredients used on anything but the schnitzel itself.

Sending out an SOS ..<br/><br/>To the kitchen ... too ordinary and not made well.<br/><br/>Cafe style set up with a super pleasant service ... thanks guys, send an SOS to the kitchen please. JT-04/01/2018

No idea how this is rated so highly. Food was ok. Service was good. Music was torturous. Will be unlikely to return as it's mostly unremarkable, but then makes me suffer through freemium music. Mofos.
Suj_i_n
We ordered some meals to share (wedges, sliders, wings, pulled pork bao) and some cocktails. Food and portion size was good however rated this experience low based on staff nonchalant response when we alerted them about a few mice we saw scurrying around the floor and climbing on the cork boards behind the sofa against the wall. The waitress we first flagged this with said she would find someone who could deal with it. Was then told by a male staff member that this is normal and expected within CDB area, especially since the doors to the pub are left open. Hopefully these issues will be looked into by the pub’s management.

Pleasantly surprised to find this near work, great for happy hour! We got the sangria jug which was delicious and very generous.<br/><br/>Two of us shared 4 entrees as we just couldn’t make up our minds and actually couldn’t finish them! The calamari was perfect and the haloumi was the highlight of the meal.<br/><br/>Wagyu beef sliders are a lot bigger than usual sliders! Beef patty was thick and juicy.

We had iventure cards which were due to expire shortly. We couldn’t make it to the attractions so thought of using our last pass on a restaurant instead😀 QSR experience was lovely though 😋 I had the BBQ chicken which was served with roast pumpkin and mash potato.. I totally loved it though the portion wasn’t sufficient for my appetite !! My husband had risotto which tasted fine too. Overall we loved the place, ambience and food! We will surely visit again.

Went for dinner on Sunday night to catch up with a friend.<br/>There were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant (ours included), yet we still sat with empty plates in front of us for at least 30 minutes. The waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything else, or if we'd like another drink, or to even provide us with more water. <br/>I had to get up and walk to the bar to get the dessert menu myself after another 30 minutes, and then the owner who was in a meeting had to pause and come take our dessert order - as yet again, the waitress was nowhere to be seen.<br/>Food was average, my steak was overcooked and tough.<br/>Won't be coming back.
Michael Marcus
Outstanding. We had the Angus steak, burger and linguini. All were outstanding. The service was excellent. We'll be back for seconds! Great job!!
~Happy Neko~
Attached to Adina on Queens, look like a bar from the outside. <br/><br/>Wagyu slider - it reminds me of mini whopper (with less ingredients) 😂😂 good to share or snack on when ur not too hungry 😁😁<br/><br/>Pear turnover - It’s definitely worthy a try!! A very hearty/ home style sort of dessert and it taste amazing when you combine everything on the spoon 🍴❤️

This place is a hidden gem. We booked for 2 people on a Saturday night through Dimmi but it didn't come through to the restaurant, but they still accommodated a table for us. So maybe call to confirm with them in advance. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The chicken winga are big and juice, really well cooked and terrific for the price. The menu may seem simple but the dishes were all really well executed. Pasta cooked to right consistency and prawns were just right. The vegan pot pie also well seasoned and generous in size. The wait for the food took a while but good food takes time. Would like to go back and try other items on the menu

Great vibe. Lots of seating. Cool venue. <br/>Happy  hour from 4-7pm. <br/>Really young staff. <br/>Took them forever to take our harder and then forever to deliver our order even though place was 75% empty<br/><br/>I had a happy hour mojito (12 dollars) which was nice but was served in a drink glass rather than fancy looking cocktail glass. Oh well. <br/><br/>I also got the vegan pot pie with the steam veggies. Now vegan and gluten-free should have rung alarm bells because it was very bland. Just potato. So much potato with a few crunchy chickpeas. The steamed veggies were delicious. <br/><br/>My friend ordered the bbq chicken. He said the bbq sauce was homemade but he didn't enjoy it. He did like the potato mash but for a guy who likes his food, he left some of it behind which is saying something. <br/><br/>May go back for happy hour drinks but not for the food or maybe we ordered the wrong stuff. <br/><br/>Portion sizes are great for the price.

Ordered: <br/>🥩 Tuesday Specials: $17 Steak<br/>+ swapped out the fries for garlic potato mash ($9)<br/>Vegetarian Medley pizza: Napoli sauce, capsicum, artichoke, grilled zucchini, olives & marinated feta ($18). <br/><br/>Review: <br/>🛩 Pretty fun bar environment! High sofa backs, sunlight and really filling, good food it’s a nice place to catch up with your mate. <br/><br/>It was disappointing that they didn't take the difference between potato mash and fries since I swapped it out <br/>but you gotta do what you gotta do to elevate the food to suit your tastes. <br/><br/>Overall, the steak and pizza were delicious yet simple. Would definitely come back for a casual dinner since the waiter was lovely and fun to converse with initially.

Wheelchair accessible. Accessible bathroom- small but able to fit an electric wheelchair.<br/><br/>Great food. Great service. Adequate space for the two electric chairs we had with us.<br/><br/>We'd go back :)

Lovely restaurant bar with a great looking modern Australian menu that has something for almost everyone. It was surprisingly quiet on a Friday night, which made this place cosy and conversations were not difficult to hear over noise. Service was excellent and so friendly. Food was well priced and pretty good. I thought the fries were great. I had the nachos, which were delicious (and sooo filling) but not quite warm enough. I'm guessing it was slightly mis-timed in trying to get everyone on our table their food at the same time. I would definitely return, especially if I needed a place for a larger group dinner.

We were in Melbourne for a quick visit to meet our newly born granddaughter and stayed up the road from Queen Street Rescue. Found it on our second night in Melbourne and ended up dining there for the following three nights. Service was outstanding, the second night we went in the staff bought our fav drinks straight to us without even going to the bar. Food was fantastic, highly recommend the pizzas, they rocked. The bases are thin and crispy and maybe the best we have shared. It's a really relaxed atmosphere, staff are attentive but not in your face. For a great meal, great relaxed pub and attentive staff, I highly recommend Q St Rescue

10/10 no words to Describe how amazing this tasted I actually took a bite and tapped my foot which I never do when I get food delivered my lord .. no words I actually jumped straight on to write a review #amazing

We planed to have breakfast here, cause the avocado toast looks great on Instagram. Unfortunately we arrived at 11:40am, after the breakfast offering time. Therefore, we ordered burger and pasta instead. The beef in burger is dry. But the chips is very good! I nearly finished the chips by myself. The pasta is good.
Ayby Baby
Pleasantly surprised by this place. Decor is average and has a pub feel to it but the porterhouse was superb and the burger was sensational. Both cooked to perfection, not overdone or dry. Will come back.
Prerna Kumar
Great food. Went to grab food with my friends the staff were quite friendly and kept checking on us. The salmon was perfectly cooked along with the asparagus and the beetroot sauce was amazing too. Would definitely go back.
Jennifer Gong
Ordered: Rump steak, Seafood Linguine and side of fries <br/><br/>Rump steak - 3.5/5 was a decently cooked steak. The a potatoes and onions complimented the meal well, as did the mushroom jus. <br/><br/>Seafood Linguine - 3/5 this was below an average Linginue pasta and was slightly balnd. The seafood was okay, and again nothing special. <br/><br/>Fries - 3.5/5 good seasoned and portion of fries. <br/><br/>Overall our meal was half price because we booked through Dimmi, which added to the value of this meal. Otherwise, I would not pay the original prices for these dishes. <br/>
Avolette
Good varied menu and fantastic service. Portion sizes were generous. Food was fine but not overly exciting. I tried the calamari with a side of pear salad, which I thought was a great pairing. Fantastic choice for a weekday lunch.
Megan MacKenzie
Very impressed with their bookshelf and the decor and their coffee is good too. I ordered the express lunch of beef and cous cous salad with rocket. Service was quick and the flavour was nice, but the rocket overwhelmed the salad in presentation and quantity. It was hard to find any cous cous in the dish.
CheeseAndCrackers
Food was nice, I went a simple scrambled eggs with a side of avocado and potato hash. This is where I was let down. The avocado was more like a dip watery and runny in a small bowl and quite acidic tasting. The potato hash was delicious, but as you can see in the photo I got one small piece for 4.50 which I think was pretty poor. Two would have been much better for the price and the side. Service was friendly, it's a nice fit out but I won't be rushing back again.
Mandja
Had breakfast here during work week.<br/>Waitress took my order and , as seems fashion nowadays, didn't write down the order - I always worry they ll get it wrong. Sure enough, egg on toast came minus the ordered mushrooms.  No big deal I told her, can i have some avo instead so you don't need to cook it.<br/>She brought back the avo "spread" I guess you call it, and not pieces nor slices. Again no biggie but it tasted "odd" As though it was not fresh.<br/>The coffee was however very good.<br/>Due to service and avo issue, i wont be back except for coffee.
Been?Here
Trying to find a family friendly place to entertain young kids and grown up friends visiting from overseas is not always easy to find in the city area, in terms of food quality and affordability but there are a few and this could be one of them. It's a casual relaxed setting with good friendly service staff and food is good although choice is limited. Come here for a quick bite but it doesn't have the wow factor.
KH
Not bad for a lunch place. Good for more people gathering, nice relaxing place for a beer or two. Had the mussels and steak. Both were ok. Just a bit undercooked to my likings for the steak.<br/><br/>Not really worth for dinner. Don't bother. The BBQ chicken is normal nothing special. The pasta gnocchi was over cooked.
Charlie Daniels (Curious Charlie)
A Sunday Dinner after work someone recommended Queen St Rescue a block from Shanghai St, uphill so west side up past Hardware Lane. Described a "hip urban space" it's not my style, but we're open to trying new things. Interesting choice of deco, there's booths and bar height tables too. The lunch deals look good, there's always better deals for lunch in the city.
Daya
Came here for brunch with friends from out of town. Great food and coffee, relaxed atmosphere. Service was good and they have tables inside and out.
J0yy173
The linguine had its own pool of oil to swim in. The dish was tasty and well presented but my stomach protested at the excessive oil. The risotto was delicious with a combination of chorizo and tomato salsa and a couple of scallops to top it off. The place had quite a few diners on a Monday night, possibly from the adjoining Adina Apartments.
Erwin Dipo
We only tried breakfast menu, so far so good. The pancake comes with homemade vanilla ice cream (My favorite). And the sourdoughs was spot on. And for the most important part of breakfast, The Coffee was excellent! High recommended.
Ssou
friendly ; fun interior; great coffee; very quick service; food was delicious - recommend the QSR Sandwich , and the eggs on toast were simple but so so tasty.
La Ola Es Mia Cocina.
Fantastic venue with a hip and modern Australian vibe. Outstanding food with exceptionally wonderful service provided by the awesome staff. I'll be coming back again and again in the near future as I really dig the entire vibe of Queens St Rescue.

My friends and I were staying in Adina serviced apartment, this café is just next to it, actually you can also order room service from them in your room if you stay in Adina. The breakfast here was impressive and the soy chai latte I had was pretty good as well.
Jeanette La Fame
First impression is good. I like the atmosphere and food is decent. I would say that it's a good place to chill, as menu seems to be made up of mostly comfort food. Staff is pretty friendly too so that's good too
Lee Pownall
Great place. Love the food, service & atmosphere. Great for just a drink or meal. Easy going owners/staff too. Only criticism is stopping the smoking outside in the front drinks zone.

I don't want to be rescued. Pub, cafe, bar, all at once, conveniently placed beside the Adina Hotel, Queen Rescue cafe is a mix of everything with nothing that makes it special, except for those chairs, the wonderful turquoise bottles and the cheery lovely waiters. <br/><br/>The place lacks ambience during the day, although I think it must be quite good as a night bar. As as cafe is too boring, too big, too empty and odd. <br/><br/>My first look at the menu was disappointing. A mix of classic dishes, those you find in hotels cafes that serve comfort food, or those you find in a room service menu card :O. <br/><br/>I ordered the Spanish omelette breakfast, served with a piece of toast. It was OK. Something similar to what I prepare at home on my own, despite me not being a cook. A bit dry, too thin to be called Spanish omelette. Flavours were Ok, not bad ,but not good either. I would have appreciated something on the side, perhaps an oily thing, a bit of relish of some fresh avocado to make the ensemble moist and more appetising. <br/><br/>Music was way too loud for an almost empty place, I guess OK if the place is full or for a bar. The waiters seemed thrilled with the Dire Straits playing on. I like the band, but loud music is nothing I appreciate in a restaurant at 11 in the morning. Thank gosh the TV had the sound off. <br/><br/>Good for groups, family friendly and travellers looking for a quick fix of any sort who want comfort food. <br/><br/>Not for me as a cafe.

Love love love this place. Out with the new hubby on our mini moon (mini honeymoon) and came into the city to have some dinner before the movies.<br/>Went to Queen Street Rescue and it was awesome.<br/>I had the Farmhouse Spag bol which was amazing. The best I have had for quiet some time.<br/>Hubby had the steak which was perfectly cooked, the mushroom sauce was very tasty and the chips were very yummy. Chips went really well with the sauce. :)<br/>We both ordered the Tobelrone cocktails which was soooo yummy. I ended up finishing the hubby's and was a little tipsy. But was awesome. <br/>Will definitely go there again just to try the Gnocchi as I was having a hard time deciding between the spag bol and gnocchi. :)<br/><br/>Staff were awesome and friendly. Couldnt ask for better service.<br/>One staff member said not to give 10 out of 10 so they have something to strive for. :)

Very impressed. Last minute booking for a large group. Staff very obliging. Food great quality and good prices

I ordered their fish of the day; which was a salmon fillet. The salmon itself was okay (I find that the salmon-y taste was not rich and creamy enough) but the accompanying mixed leaves salad with chickpeas were really good! Not so good though, as to not feel a twinge of regret when...

Crap piece of steak and undercooked chips.. Went there with the family , I ordered rump steak, medium rare with chips and salad about $33.00. Got to say the piece of steak was average at best the steak was uneven, so cooked differently, some parts were rare and others medium, overall tough and chewy, it was a poor cut of meat.. The chips were undercooked. Basically a dissapointing meal i ate it as i don't like to make a fuss in front of my family but certainly won't be going back.

Thank you for a lovely brunch .... I booked Queen Street Rescue because one of my other friends went there and loved it. A friend visiting from Vietnam and I were catching up. Asked for a quieter area and they put us in a nice booth with plenty of space and quiet corner. We had a lot of catching up to do so were there for four hours straddling lunch time. Restaurant was busy for a Monday. We had the QSR share plate and chose the wagyu mini burgers, soft shell tacos and salt & pepper calamari - and some champagne. We really enjoyed it and the service was friendly and attentive. Thank you very much for a lovely brunch with a dear friend.

Best Service. I visited from the Sunshine Coast QLD, and was so lucky to stumble onto this amazing cafe/bar. We were in QSR from 1pm - 9pm as it was the NRL grand final Sunday. Sam the manager looked after us all day as did the rest of the friendly staff and the level of customer service was exceptional! When us poor QLDs got cold Sam even closed the front door to the place - I mean what manager closes the front door to their cafe??? He found the footy for us, turned up the volume, and even got happy hour started a little early. The food was amazing, you have to try the breaky Parma!! The pizzas and burgers too (we were there all day) If we didn't have a 7am flight we would have stayed till they kicked us out. Thanks again Sam and team for a warm Melbourne stay!
Laurie Barlow
Great Restaurant/Bar. I visiting from Perth and have been to this bar 3 times over the past 4 days.<br/><br/>The food is delicious, and the Rescue Bloody Mary is the best I have ever tasted! The service is fantastic (especially from Jess) and the friendly relaxed environment makes this a restaurant/bar a definite place to visit.

Love the $10 Lunch Special. Ok, admittedly we eat here a lot. Can't start the day without my coffee and savoury muffin. But the best is the $10 lunch special. food good and staff service excellent.

Love it!. Just had the best home made chicken pie. Great service from Sam. Love this place!

Highly recommend the yummy mini burgers. Sam the waiter was really friendly ( & handsome ) very cool lunch spot :-)

Great dinner. We popped in for dinner. Staff was efficient and food was great. Love the mini burgers and pizzas in particular. A good place for folks who would like to catch up with friends and speak up a bit.

Good beer week, "GET PIE EYED". Got a random invite from a friend to go to a day time good beer week event and thought good excuse to have a long lunch.<br/>Always loved a good pie with a beer and given i had to go back to work the mid strengths worked in nicely and meant i could have a few.<br/>Stand out hand to be the "PORK BELLY AND GINGER PIE" and the "COOPERS MILD"<br/>Honestly best pie i have ever put in my mouth and if you didn't tell me the beer was 3.5% i never would have guest full of flavour and went down a treat.<br/>Definitely be back for a beer, cool random city venue.

Great food, good service but very noisy. Shame I could not hear the person next to me

Had breakfast and dinner and both meals were fantastic. Service friendly and prompt. Great vibe!!!

Relaxed and welcoming. After an incredibly long week I found myself huddled in the corner of the Queen Street Rescue with a latte and order off the kids menu (Chicken strips and chips). I was finishing off some paperwork and it was nice to have waiting staff that not only were able to preempt my needs but also allow me to remain solitary when I didn't require it. The food was fantastic and after my second hour lulling over paperwork I decided that I should order again, having kept a steady supply of caffeine to keep me going. I found the staff and regulars were interesting and nice people. <br/><br/>All in all, I plan to return on many occasions.

Terrible service. Waitress and especially the owner have a terrible attitude

Good Spot & Good Value. Have walked past this place for more than 12mths and decided to venture in on a Wed night last month. Two of us for drinks and then some dinner. We chose a couple of house made pizzas and a bottle of red. Both pizzas were a little eclectic i.e. beetroot and horseradish base with cured beef and a green olive base ........ they were great. Clearly house made to order, very fresh and tasty. I came home and was very positive about QSR so went again last Friday with my wife as she wanted to try it. We had three small staters i.e. two beef burger sliders, calamari and nachos. All were fresh, very tasty and well presented. We wanted the same pizza but the menu had changed, so we chose the prawn & chorizo with garlic. It was again clearly house made and just great. Everything is affordable and carefully made in the kitchen. One very small criticism ..... the laminated wine list carries the wine vintage i.e. 2010 and each bottle we had was a subsequent vintage. Interior is simple and a little quirky but overall very good value with pints on tap for about $7 (I think).

AWFUL. Visited this restaurant (if you can call it that) last week with my Husband (we stayed in the hotel next door and this place APPARENTLY does the rooms service). We ordered room service (breakfast: bananas and french toast, the pathetically expensive breakfast and drinks) Not only did we have to pay an extra charge for the delivery (isn't this what should already be included in the hotel charges!?) it also took a good 40 minutes to arrive. When it eventually turned up (pretty much cold) we got no apology from the girl who brought it, and I was just told "unfortunately we are very busy" when I asked to complain to the manager, disgraceful customer service, will never stay in the hotel again let alone eat the awful food.

Love it.. Highly recommend! Definitely one of the best places for a quick lunch in the Melbourne CBD and we've had some great dinners here too. <br/>Relaxed atmosphere, consistently good food and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Make sure you try the pizza (the Wagyu mini burgers are pretty awesome too).

Love the bar and a fresh Sapporo

Hilarious. Between the endless Bon Jovi on the stereo, the ice hockey on the television, the soft porn on the walls, the rubber octopus, old and vinegary wine, bread-like batter, hard fish, and soggy salad, I'm speechless.

Great food and nice staff. This is a great place to have lunch in the city. I especially like the mini burgers.

Lunch was amazing.

What a surprise. What a little surprise this was. Visiting Melbourne not knowing where to go, found this lovely restaurant with great food and wonderfully friendly staff that made you feel at home. <br/>Tasting plate was excellent and just loved the garlic and fetta dip its a must try.

Just enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of this unique queen st gem. Sunday night visiting downtown Melbourne where to have a light meal? It's a little gem for us interstate visitors staying in nearby city hotels

Terrible Breakfast. Dined here for breakfast when travelling from interstate for the weekend. This had to be one of the worst breakfasts I have ever been served. The dutch pancakes and raisin toast were ordered. Basic menu items ordered although $16 for two small skewers of dutch pancakes was terrible. Came out completely cold and dry and could observe from viewing the chefs in the open kitchen threading these onto skewers that these were obviously pre-cooked/pre-made. The raisin toast wasn't too much better. Horribly overcooked and ordered ricotta on the side which was not fresh. At the least the coffee was ok. Such a shame considering we could have gone anywhere for breakfast whilst we were on holidays and ended up here.

Had a bad experience at lunch today. Ordered 2 mini burgers waited 35minutes before getting told by the waitress that the kitchen never got the order docket....the restaurant was only half filled and there were people who were seated much after me.<br/>After confirming that it'll be ready in 10minutes...i waited more and it eventually came out 15minutes later. So waiting time today was 50minutes for 2 mini burgers - excessive in my opinion. Its a restaurant in the CBD, so a fast paced environment is the norm...not everyone has the luxury of taking over an hour for a lunch break. The manager avoided all eye contact and no apology was offered by him...only the waitress came to apologise for the technical problem. <br/>The mini burgers were ok. Wouldnt go back!

Meal delay, poor response.. Waited thirty minutes before they realised our order hadn't even been processed.<br/>Told to wait another ten minutes. Originally offered 25% off the bill. Then informed it could only be 15%.<br/>Ruined our work lunch.<br/>They rushed the meal, so it tasted unseasoned.<br/>To ensure we left unhappy, the management completely ignored us.

Recommended. Upon recommendation from a colleague I organised a birthday lunch with friends here. The menu is wide and varied and there is something that will appeal to even the pickiest diner. My garlic prawn pizza was very good, and my friend enjoyed their burritos, nachos and mushroom tostaditas. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely recommended to book ahead as it gets pretty busy. Large groups might want to pre-order if possible, as when we went (Friday lunchtime) I noticed a number of large groups waiting quite some time for their food. Everything looked really fresh and tasty. A nice little addition to the Queen St strip of cafés.

Delicious, fresh food, friendly service and great value.

Great Food & Service. Hubby bought me here for my birthday dinner last night and he couldn't have booked a nicer place. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff were friendly without being in your face and the meals were fresh, tasty and with more than enough variety to keep this little veggie happy while hubby scoffed the Wagu burger. Make sure you order their incredible fries too! Can't wait to go back and try breakfast!

Great Spot. I don't write good reviews, but I'll make an exception for this place. Had lunch at Queen St Rescue. Booked late and got a table. The place was busy but didn't have everyone sitting on top of each other. The service was friendly, but non intrusive, and the food was really good! All in all, a great spot. Keep up the good work.

I was very unsure about the location and ambiance , I almost walked away ! <br/>I'm glad I stayed !! A place where breakfast is breakfast ! Fresh , basic but effective , no fuss , good friendly service! Coffee was delicious ! I would go back ' try to look past that's it's attached to serviced apartment , in a very boring location of the CBD !

Great place great service, relaxed atmosphere....why arent the kids menus advertised with your main menu or in the rooms ? Kids loved it, we nearly didnt go because we thought it wasnt suitable....

Excellent place. I dined here a number of times during a recent visit to melbourne and was impressed every time. The staff are friendly, everything I tried was delicious and very good value especially for Melbourne. Breakfasts are also fantastic and great coffee. You can't go wrong here!
