Lovely feel to this place as soon as you walk in. Very friendly staff and great service. The food was delicious and I would recommend it to all of my friends. The softshell crab was to die for. My only complaint was the wine. They need to have markers on the glasses as we had 2 glasses of wine and one was nearly half that of the other at the same cost. We will definitely be back but will check quantity of wine per glass.
The most amazing food awesome atmosphere would highly recommend super friendly and helpful staff
Amazing food and amazing staff. Can't say enough about how lovely this place is. Can't wait to come back.
excellent food and service, nice decor with variety of food, great ambience and trendy setting and comfortable sitting .must give them a try.
Best thai food in Melbourne! The food is not typically sweet or bland with the same type of herbs / spices you would find at a Thai restaurant. The decor is divine!
Walked in off the street. Could not believe our luck. So tasty and away from the loud and noisy Melbourne city streets!
A gem on Little Bourke St, Bangkok Jam amazing food and friendly staffs, highly recommended not forgetting great ambience too. Thumbs up 👍
Delicious and Authentic. Fabulous atmosphere and Wonderful service - Loved it
One of the best Thai food experiences the CBD has to offer. As a solo type of reviewer, it was great to be able to just walk in and be seated without fuss as I do this often.
Staff were polite and attentive, ordered the classic Pad Thai which was generous in portion and definitely one of the best I’ve had.
Really recommend this place. Only downside may be perhaps that it’s sort of small inside , which may trouble large groups.
The best Thai Restaurant in town!
the staff were wonderful, they poured us water without us asking which gave us a good impression of their service. the food was good however it is a bit pricy for the quantity you get. we paid about 26 dollars for the thai red curry and it came out in a small bowl and it was a bit spicy for my parent's liking. overall the ambience and vibe of the restaurant is really nice.
I like this place! The food was not outstanding but yummy. I had better red duck curries in the past but this one was yummy and for the price, nothing to complain about.
The Tom Yam soup on the other hand was outstanding - very hot and very addictive. No wonder that it is their signature dish.
I was attracted by the restaurant because of its atmosphere, which is welcoming and cosy. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
All in all, an uncomplicated, unpretentious restaurant to which you happily return.
The Tom yum soup is so good, but a little over priced for such a small portion. The beef with rice was a little disappointing because I was expecting minced beef instead of slice, but it still tasted okay.
Friendly staff
reasonable price
we ordered green curry, tom yum fried rice, papaya salad and stir fry!
lots of flavour
a bit spicy but tastes super good!
Came here for dinner and was not disappointed at all! Great place, cool ambience, great food. Had the chicken basil with rice and really delicious. Also ordered a side of grilled beef salad and yum! It was very fresh and the beef was tender. Service was great and attentive. Highly recommended to anyone looking for casual dining on a nght out 👍🏼
Best Thai food I can remember having in Melbourne, and inexpensive for lunch. Nice inside as well with a really good atmosphere. Had green curry, tom yam soup and stir fried mixed veges. Simple stuff done really well
Really good thai cuisine place, there are a lot of competitiom for food.specially in this part of the cbd, but the venue was very comfy and we had a really good time. Staffs were really nice and polite and food were good.
The pineapple fried rice was remarkable! Red curry chicken was a bit spicy, but the Tom yum noodle with seafood was not good. Though seafood was quite fresh. Don’t like the soup. Very helpful staff and beautiful deco.
Have always walked past this place but never tried until this week. Nice clean decor, we sat downstairs however there is more seating upstairs too.
The squid was definitely the highlight here. The sauce is spicy and packed with flavours. Large portion too. We also ordered the Tom yum fried rice, pad Thai, chicken wings which are crispy and delicious except could’ve come with a better sauce than just sweet chilli. The roti was ok. Good value for money, meal sizes are massive for the price!
Super friendly staff and the food was delicious. The restaurant has plenty of seats across 3 floors. The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant is beautiful.
AMAZING FOOD!!! We had a couple of entrees and the vegetarian red curry, chicken green curry and Tom kha with some rice on the side as mains. Everything was very delicious! Staff was veryyyy friendly, attentive and accommodating! Will definitely be back!
Wow...just wow! Felt like Thai and was in the city and found this place on google. The food is incredible and decently priced! Service was great too. Pad-see-ew for main was delicious and a huge serving size. We also had spring rolls, roti bread and chicken wings for starters and they were all great.
Great atmosphere. Cute seating, good menu and crockery. Food could have had a bit more flavour, and the music was a bit loud at times but all in all an enjoyable experience!
Check out the cute tea pot!
😱Lizzie’s first impression: as soon as I walked in to this place, I loved the vibes and the interior.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: the menu had a good selection and I was really impressed with the food. The green curry was the best I’ve tried in a while - with great consistency but just lacking some vegetables. Other than that we tried the duck dish which was delicious, it had a good punch of spice to it. I also really enjoyed the stick rice with mango dessert dish.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: the pad Thai was way too sweet for my liking and it tasted more on the tamarind end than anything.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great place for Thai food and especially loving the interior too.
A decent place for Thai!
The decor was a bit hipster, which was quite different and groovy. A great place for date night.
Service was good, food came out pretty quick.
We thought some of the dishes were hit and miss.
There was no flavour in the chicken pandan we had for entree. That was a let down. Would not recommend that.
The squid in the seafood Tom Yum was chewy like it came out of the freezer. The flavour of the soup was amazing though! Chicken might have been better.
Fish cakes were good.
Mains we had steamed barramundi, it was over cooked and dry. But flavours very different to anything i have had at other thai places.
Also had pomelo salad, very tasty and again different.
Overall, I thought it was a little over priced for what it was. We have some amazing local Thai joints that I would rather go to.
I don’t think we’ll go there again, but if you’re in town no harm in checking it out.
Staff were very welcoming, and the dishes came out reasonably fast. Really enjoyed the pad see ew and the red curry, the only downfall was the Thai beef salad summer special which had a great flavour but the meat used was very average quality. Loved snacking on the morning glory, lots of garlicy goodness!
I stumbled upon Bangkok Jam when I was looking for a new dinner place to go to with my friend. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the rice and it makes you so hungry!! I liked the service here. And I liked the food so much that I went twice in 2 weeks. I have tried their fried tofu (which comes with a delicious chilli sauce) and the red as well as green Thai curry along with the rice. The heat in their curries is excellent. A great thing is that you can request your curry to come with a bit of cream if you want less kick from the chilli. I also did try the Coconut ice cream and it’s just perfectly soothing after eating an entire bowl of spicy curry.
Great place with a nice atmosphere and attentive staff. I would definitely recommend. I didn’t have a reservation, and managed to go straight to a table.
First day in Melbourne and happened to go to this cute little place in China town in the city for dinner and I have to say I loved every bit of it..
Started with fried tofu which was decent enough.. next was the papaya salad and it has to the best thing I have ever had in a while.. ordered red and green Thai curry which was a bit too spicy for my taste.. similarly the papaya fried rice as well
Loved the son in laws eggs as an appetizer and also the pad Thai noodles..
Ordered the coconut milk tea which was super different but good..
I have to mention the mind blowing desserts.. the sticky rice with mango and coocnut icecream was MIND-BLOWING also the water chestnut jelly with icecream.
A special mention to the staff who were extremely helpful and attentive

Excellent and attentive service throughout the night. We particularly enjoyed the Massaman Beef Curry. The Tom Yum Soup was a bit too spicy even when we asked for mild. The white bait was crispy and addictive as an entree. We will be back!

The food here is pretty nice. Staff is friendly because they keep refill the water. However, jt would be great if the portion is bigger. All the portion is really small which is not really enough for a lot of people.
Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.

Been here for a few times both for team lunch and dinner. Food was great, Pad Thai, curry and the dessert, must try. Unlike most of the casual Thai restaurants in CBD, this place is pretty cool with a 3-floor-height hand painting and different vibes in each floor. Friendly staff. Always a good choice when we think of a special place for Thai.
We were craving Thai and thought we’d give this place a shot. The Thai milk tea is one of the best I’ve had, and I’ve had plenty. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. The food smelled amazing when it arrived, my partner and I were basically drooling while I took the pictures for this review. The meals were tasty, but didn’t deliver the authentic taste I was expecting. I’ve had better Chiang Mai Noodles elsewhere, but the son in law eggs and ribs were delicious.
Many thanks for making a wonderful dinner. The food was lovely and enjoyed by all. Please thank your staff for all their hard work and being so friendly and helpful. Also your decorations looked amazing.
Overall it was a great experience dining in this restaurant. Atmosphere is suitable for a couple, birthday party or even a large coporate function there. Service was awesome, food was average and price was fair resonable. I like the Red Curry - which had very good flavourate however the stir fry chicken mince was a bit tasteless...overall it's worth to give it a go. Maybe I will pop in try other dishes in near future.
A well rounded winner. The space was perfect for a quiet meal. Ample space and great acoustics so there is no need to talk over your neighbouring diners. The curries were of a good standard, stir fries and fish - great and noodles, cooked to perfection. The service was helpful and non-imposing. Price vs portion was balanced well. I’m a happy feed tonight!
Good service, good food and very good setting! I would come back again and try the other things on the menu because it is close to my work and my girl was happy
Located china town , the customer service is very good and atmosphere dining really awesome . Food is great and quality and tasty . Last the price is reasonable. Thumbs up . Cheers
Loved this place! Beautiful modern rustic decor, and lovely staff who were welcoming and attentive. Relaxing atmosphere with great selection of chill tunes in the background. Service was quick and the food was stunning! So glad we chose this place for a relaxing Friday night meal.
This place will become one of your favourite restaurants in Melbourne.
Perfect 👌- food: so damn good! Easily my favourite Thai restaurant in Melbourne. I went with a friend and we got the red curry (vegetable) the morning glory (garlic) and the stir fried veggies with rice and roti. 😋 left with very happy bellies
Atmosphere: really lovely decor, I’d be impressed if my date took me here! Also great for catch-ups with work mates.
Staff: the loveliest hospitality I have received in a very long time 😌
We've been twice in the last month as the combination of the warm, inviting interior, the delectable papaya salad, the well-balanced flavours (with copious basil!) and lovely service is a real stand-out in the bustling stretch of restaurants. Great for vegetarians (the waiter was very attentive and consultative on ingredients). And they serve subtle, refreshing cocktails! Highly recommend.
Very pleased with our two visits and happy to go back to support this newly opened cosy spot in Chinatown. Curry beef was amazingly tasty (best curry we've had in a long time) and the duck noodles were very generous with the duck pieces. Service was also very friendly with a very relaxed atmosphere. You can enjoy your meal in peace. All together a great experience.
I love going to Bangkok jam. They do very authentic thai food. The place is full of character like the three levels tall painting and all the pictures around the restaurant. It has three levels so it feel so spacious and very relax. Highly recommended
Great service and ambience! Highly recommend the lychee ice drink, it was delicious. We ordered the som tum which is the best som tum I’ve had so far in Melbourne. The massamun curry was so flavoursome but the larb chicken was average at best, needed more herbs and a bit more flavour. A bit on the pricey end, but one of the better Thai restaurants around here.
Right in the heart of china town but i always seems missed this place for some reason. I give this place a tried wow they didnt disappointed. Great variety of drink i had the lychee and their thai curry was fantastic. Highly recommended
Outstanding service. Price for pad Thai a bit on the steeper side but delicious. We were running late for the theatre and they were very accommodating.
This new restaurant is a hidden gem in Chinatown! Not much of Thai joint in Chinatown and this place sure is a breath of fresh air. Food tasted great and authentic Thai. The stir fry chicken and basil is really good, as well as the boat noodle! We came for lunch and it was a tad bit on pricey side but definitely worth it. Will definitely come back again for dinner.
None of that famous Bangkok "traffic" jam ...
Looks lost within the juggle of Little Bourke Street, Chinatown ... once inside ... serenity, what a pleasant space, modern "rustic" style interior, it comes complete with post-modern art works too.
We've had a few of their offering ... 7/10 Prawns Cakes, 7/10 Pad Thai Prawns, it comes with a hot dried chillies and 9/10 Som Tam, young Papaya, balanced, lime, sweetness ... one of the best to date ...
It was wet, lunchtime Saturday before the F1 Grand Prix and this multi storeys building looks deserted, none of that world famous Bangkok traffic jam. JT-24/03/2018.
Food was good, staff was really nice ! My soup was too spicy for me so they took it back and made a whole new one that was less spicy ! Coconut ice cream was delicious 👍🏼
This new Thai eatery has pretty much gone unnoticed so we decided to give it a go as we were pressed on time. It's been nicely outfitted and various paintings adorning the exposed brick walls. Although the service may look pretentious the staff are quite welcoming.
The lunch menu is concise, just the way I like it. I got their duck noodle soup, closest thing I can compare it to is boat noodles. It came with some lean and firm duck pieces. You can also dress the soup according to taste, I put in some vinegar and chilli flakes for that extra kick, ohh boy it was spicy! Basic looking but warming and delicious.
My colleagues also raved on about their dishes. Everything was just executed well and the staff also invited us to check out their second floor. Please upload your menus!
Walked past and realised this was a new place so tried it with my friend. Food was tasty and didn't take too long - I can't say I'm super knowledgeable about Thai food but the taste seemed quite authentic. We also got the Thai milk tea which was sweet and refreshing. Would go again but not on a student budget. All in all it was very lovely.
Stumbled upon this little gem in Chinatown when looking for a place to eat dinner with a friend. It was almost empty which didn't give us much confidence but the menu looked good so we got seated. The food was delicious! We ordered a tom yum soup each and shared a green vego curry and a seafood pad thai. The tom yum was amazing. Like truely amazing. Good hint of spice which I loved. They kept topping up our water which was a nice touch. Total bill was $100 with two drinks. Do yourself a favor and try this place out.
We had the duck red curry and chicken ribs. Flavours and quality were good. However we felt there wasn’t much duck in the curry to justify the price of the dish.
Just popped in here for lunch today after a recommendation from work colleagues. Had the prawn Pad Thai and its up there with best I've had. Debating between a 4 and 4.5 for this...a fck it, the service was great too.
Need to get back and try more of the menu!
Wonderful new addition to little bourke st.
Sensational, delicious food with wonderful, attentive staff.
Sure to be a hit!
Can highly recommend the chicken larb and the tom yam fried rice. Absolutely delicious.
Delicious, tasty, and authentic Thai food. A tad spicy so might not suit everyone. Polite and quick service.
The Tom Yam soup was simply amazing.
Came here for lunch today, Khao Soi was the perfect combination of sweet/salty/savoury/sour, friend's Krah Pow looked and smelled great, excellent service, will be back regularly
My partner and I attended this new restaurant for dinner. The decor is modern and a lot funky than the other restaurants on Little Bourke Street. We wanted to try almost everything on the menu, but end the end we ordered fried crispy chicken wings, calamari, red duck curry and a bottle of wine. The food was above average and (almost) amazing. I feel like a few tweaks (ie. cooking all wings evenly, improving duck to vegetable ratio in the curry) would make this place top notch. The flavours are already there. The meals were reasonably priced. The service was great. We would definitely come back here!
Loved the atmosphere. It was towards the quiet romantic private sort of feel with very comfortable seats. We only had two dishes but both were excellent. Slight difficulty communicating with serving staff but they were very friendly. Towards the higher end of our budget but would definitely recommend.
You should really Thai this place out.
Asked for a few recommendations as we had to have an early dinner and was quite indecisive.
- Tamarind fish, and lychee mocktail. Just wow, both had such fresh flavours.
Watch out for the kick in the papaya salad!
Food came out promptly and the customer service was very friendly. Although quiet on arrival, it's nice to see the staff engaging in conversation with each other and customers, instead of playing in their phones.
Had a lovely chat with two of the waiters.
Absolutely delicious food!!! I had the best chicken Pad Thai ever and my friends were very happy with their choices too. Wonderful service, delightful young waitress. If I lived in Melbourne this would be my go to place for Thai food but we live in Sydney. Never had Thai food as good as this there. Even the banana fritter dessert was fabulous. Everything sooo damn good.
Bangkok Jam has a pleasant, friendly and modern atmosphere where the retro jazz music is really cool but not too loud and the lights aren't too bright or dim. The individual toilets were clean and the restaurant did not feel stuffy at all anywhere over the 2 floors. The service was friendly and prompt, the menu was varied and easy to navigate and we found some delicious dishes on the menu which are not easily found outside of Thailand. Lovely range of cocktails. We were also surprised that 3 courses for 4 people plus drinks came to under $200.
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!
The food was delicious, we had the betel leaves (a must!), fried egg, papaya salad, flat noodle stir fry and red curry with duck - all beautifully aromatic and unique. Our waiter Ken was really helpful and friendly and even gave us a tour of the renovated historic building. The food came in good time, not too fast or slow, the portions were just right, generous but not excessively so. The Tommy in Bangkok cocktail was really refreshing alongside the food. The dessert we had was water chestnut with coconut ice cream and coconut milk - very tasty, we shared it between two. The atmosphere was relaxed and classy, unfussy but clearly they pay attention to detail. 10/10
Amazing Thai experience and great overall meal. Try out the curries and the flat noodles stir. Ken had some great proposals and his friendliness enhanced an already awesome dinner. Highly recommended.
Had a great meal here. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was fast to arrive, fresh and delicious. Meal enjoyed by everyone in the group! Will definitely return here
ONE OF THE BEST RESTAURANTS IVE BEEN TO.
The service was so fast, meals were on the table in less than 10 minuets. Not only this, but the food was divine. Thankyou for an amazing experience.
