I didnt eat.. but my friend with me had an omelette whi h he says was amazing. I had a refreshing drink wigh ginger that was fantastic. The service was amazing. We looked up because our water was empty and even though it wasnt his job an employee behind the bar/ coffee machine came within 2 mins as he had a lull. Extremely impressed by the professionalism even on a very very busy sunday morning
we had the lemon tart and pecan tart aside from coffee and stuff . Had to get more tarts for takeaway as well because so good!! Please don't raise the price tho �

Have been & will return. Brioche french toast is to die for & don't get me started on their almond croissant ( better than in Paris). A true taste sensation. A firm favourite breakfast/ brunch destination.

This gorgeous setting serves up some beautiful dishes. The staff were extremely friendly and their suggestions were superb. Love this place and will be back next time we visit Melbourne.

Guess who’s back, back again? My pick today was the warming porridge, keep your eye on the specials menu as there's always something pretty wonderful available. Really love Chez Dre - great little spot for a breakfast meeting. I love their green seats and the service is absolutely lovely. Food is delicious and very comforting, they even let me order their dippy eggs and soldier from the kids menu.

Came her on Sunday and it was packed. Luckily we didn’t have to wait for long to get our seat.
The cafe is very spacious with lots of seat both indoor and outdoor. We ordered truffle mushroom on sourdough which was really good and we had chez dre green bowl with smoked salmon which was very earthy and clean. Another plus point is they have my favourite oatly milk!
Have been here 3-4 times (or maybe even more). And guess what, it was so good that I am happy to drive about 30 minutes and enjoy the coffee & breakfast and leave with a pocket of croissants and baguettes in my hands.
Best almond croissant of my life! French toast great too, recommend paying extra for the melted chocolate but would have loved for a slightly larger serving. Seating next to the front door is a little bit too tucked away and hidden from the windows, nicer to sit outside or in the main larger area by the front counter.
Roasted Camembert, fig, sourdough bread & honey! Delicious combination that will take us back again! Recommend visiting earlier in the day as it can get crowded with wait times increasing and sections of the menu becoming sold out. Otherwise, a solid 4 in terms of food, pricing and service.
Easy going cafe. All good food and ambiences. Probably will visit there few times in the futures. Coffee with nice bread will be good for nice morning.
Delicious French cafe food. Pretty busy and usually a bit of a wait on the weekends but worth it. I am a sucker for the croque monsier however recently tried a special menu item of suvee salmon burger. It was pleasant however perhaps a bit too reminiscent of canned salmon so I'll stick to my croque next time! Their version of big brekkie doesn't disappoint though.

Chez Dré leaves me rather conflicted. Some parts of the meal were excellent, but on the other hand, there were parts that weren't so great. We arrived after peak lunch hours on a weekend with no queue in sight. Luckily for us, we managed to order just before a large group of 10 walked in not long after us. Even then, there was a short wait for food and we noticed a table who came after us receiving his meal before us.
I was pleased when I dug into my truffle mushrooms on toast. The medley of mushrooms were juicy and flavourful, having absorb the fragrant and piquant truffle oil. The edges of the toasts were rather solid, but apart from that, all was good.
The French toast was spectacular, and was super eggy and moist. The mixed berry compote and the caramel sauce each played their part in delivering tartness and sweetness to the dish. The meringue crumbs provided a textural element, as did the fresh fruits scattered throughout.
The pork belly was bursting with flavours and very tender, and would have been 10 out of 10 if not for the crackling that was nearly impossible to cut through. We had to ask for a steak knife and it was still a struggle.
The coffees were respectable; a bit on the weaker side though but still pleasant to drink. The service was overall hospitable, albeit a bit unfocused at times.
Not quite a 4 nor a 3, this one is really hard to rate but I would rather rate up then rate down because of that delicious French toast!
Restaurant located down laneway off Coventry Street South Melbourne. Nice vibe with friendly service. We ordered Kale and grain salad and eggs. The food and coffee was nice... we will visit again
Quite a busy cafe right next to the South Melbourne Market. We came here on a weekend, so there was a short wait. Its worth trying their pastries which are made in house. Great food and ambience
Great brunch place. I had the truffle mushroom bruchetta dish which smelt of delicious truffle! Couldn’t really fault their grand petite breakfast either. Child friendly
The avo dish was absolutely delish. the nuts had such a nice flavour and added great texture to the dish. the portion was very generous with 2 large pieces of toast and a lot of avo. the radish was amazing and added so much flavour and freshness along with the tomatoes. the balsamic added a bit of a different flvour which was also really nice. the extras were quite pricey however with the feta being $5 and the egg $3 for only 1. The crispy potatoes were so so nice and full of flavour! The French toast was to die for! So many amazing toppings and the perfect amount to satisfy the sweet tooth! The dark chocolate was a delish added topping and cut some of the sweetness too. The drinks were so so nice and fresh. The iced chai was amazing and had so much spice which was really nice. The atmosphere was really nice and open and the staff were so friendly and willing to help with anything. Definitely recommend this cafe!
What a pretty cafe this is! The staff is attentive, friendly and quick. Coffee is amazing. You can expect some wait to get a table around weekend brunch hour. It has pretty interior but their outdoor area is nice too. I am someone who always prefers a table inside even though there’s a wait but when I am here I prefer sitting outside instead of inside when the weather is nice.
Really good cafe, the food is delicious and the environment is cosy and rustic! I had the omelette and my friend had the truffle mushroom on toast!

We had a great walk in today to Chez Dre, it was full and bustling food was delicious, presentation was great. We ordered a big breakfast, wagyu beef burger & poached egg salad on toast.

I love this cafe, it’s so cute and the courtyard out the back is great for a sunny day. The menu is really good, plenty of options of brunch and a late lunch!
I ordered the steak and it was perfectly cooked! The portion size was great and the sides accompanied the steak well. The staff were very polite too.

Chez Dre was one of my favourite brunch places in Melbourne (alongside The Hardware Societe!). I loved their savoury dish and sweet treat selections; from basic smashed avo to French-inspired brekky and steak. Their croissants were always amazing and so was their coffee. I always tried to pay them a visit whenever I was in South Melbourne.
Use to be my hang out place with friends. Just came here recently and found out the food wasn't as good as before.
The pastry and coffee still very good though.

This brunch place used to incorporate the cakes from Bibelot before the owners decided to separate the two into a brunch place and separate dessert bar. If I'm honest, I think the desserts were much more impressive than their brunch food. Chez Dre's brunch food is by no means poor, however the menu often didn't have any particular dishes that appealed to me. Perhaps some of their ingredients were less familiar to my taste buds.
Nevertheless, in terms of quality of food, it is still pretty good, and there is often a reasonable queue on weekends. Service is ok, however because there are 2 entrances (one on the alleyway beside Bibelot, and one on the opposite street), we sometimes have to wait quite a while before we are attended to when we come in for a table.
Really good food, simple and quick. Lotsa of space for large groups of friends. Good outdoor dinning area. The steak is well cooked and the truffle mushroom and toast is quite filling. Clean cooking, will definitely come back when in the area. Cute little hideout in the alleyway.
Been here a number of times and doesn’t disappoint. We had the croque madame and Monsieur. They were superb! Also the ragu burger which was excellent too. We sat in the courtyard which was relaxing. Highly recommend this place even if you just go for coffee and pastry.
As a special we tried the Ruben Sandwich. Ver nice. Maybe a little to much cheese but otherwise very good. You can share with someone else.
Chez Dré offered brilliant customer service, their service was both efficient and mannerly. The food which I ordered was absolutely delicious, the plating up of the food was instagram worthy. I also ordered an ice chocolate to wash down my meal. It was refreshing and in my opinion was the perfect mix of chocolate and ice cream. I went in for brunch and I will surely return to have another meal at this well deserving restaurant.
Truffle Mushroom Bruschetta - Initially quite skeptical about this because there wasnt a clear picture of the dish (all I could see was a huge black blob). Hopefully that's a clearer one and it turned out to be better than I expected. Quite filling with 2x sourdough, truffle mushrooms, cheese, 2 eggs benedict topped with the black mushroom sauce! A unique one that's worth trying to say the least!
Had a lovely brunch here one Sunday. Big place so we had no trouble finding a seat. I had a lovely muesli-style dish and my partner enjoyed the big breakfast. Really yum, great coffee. Will be back again

My girlfriend surprised me with a birthday breakfast at Chez Dré this morning in South Melbourne.
Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly and polite staff. The warehouse-turned-cafe has a modern decor and an open view of the kitchen.
We ordered two coffees.. a long macchiato and a cappuccino. The coffee had a smooth chocolatey and caramel aftertaste.. it was that good that we ordered a 250g bag of the beans to take home.
Our meals arrived 10 minutes later much to our delight. Our plates were filled with perfectly poached eggs, freshly baked and crunchy sourdough bread, sweet tomatoes, bacon, mushroom, avocado, sausage, potatoes, and a side of tomato relish. The croissant had a soft buttery inside and was crunchy on the outside, just the way it should be.
If you’re looking for a cafè with a French inspired menu filled with top quality ingredients, delicious bread and pastries, and premium coffee in South Melbourne... this is the place!!
I always go here with my husband friends and daughter its my go to place love the coddled egg always get coffee and cake or macaroons. Bread is so crisp i could live on it
We came here on a Saturday, just after the lunch peak. We were seated straight away and the waiters were quite attentive. Ordered the granola, spiced fruit toast and the Croque Madame, with 2x coffees. The food & coffee was great. The bill totaled to $50 which we thought was very reasonable. Would definitely go back to try the other menu items.
Hands down the best cafe croissant! I was here few years ago for their brunch but it wasn’t that impressive and recently went back for their croissants. I’m giving them the benefit of doubt for their brunch menu but definitely give them croissants a go!
Not the cheapest option for brunch but nonetheless a hidden gem for delicious croissants. I usually grab a croissant on the way to work for my morning tea and they're perfect with a coffee as it's crispy and flaky on the outside but soft and buttery on the inside.
Stopped in for a late brekky during the week and as always, the food didn't disappoint! Had Poached Eggs with Avocado and Hollandaise. The Hollandaise sauce was of particularly high quality. So many cafes offer it but few do it properly. This was the best I had come across in a long time. Eggs were cooked perfectly as well. Coffee was great and service was friendly and efficient.
One thing I don't understand is when they were fitting the place out and making everything look great, why didn't they do the bathrooms which aren't pretty at all?! First world problems. Everything else gets a big tick.
One of my favourite brunch place in south Melbourne. Always gets busy during the day however i easily got a table from the staff during lunch rainy day on Sunday. Upon my arrival,the staffs greeted me nicely & take me to the designated table.

Grand Petite Dejeuner was an okay. Generous portion of big breakfast however taste a bit dry for me.
Minute Steak was the besttttt! The meat was so tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned, the sauce was perfectly balanced too.the potato was crispy outside smooth inside.salad was fresh and was really delicious too. It creates harmony in your mouth because all of the ingredients were really complete each other
Chai latte was good and nice, The coffee was nice too.
Overall, good food, good place & friendly staffs too,will be come back for sure..

I think it's pretty funny we can go to brunch and order 2 slices of sourdough w/ a coffee for $10 think it's pretty cheap haha anyway the butter tasted like butter, the jam tasted like jam and the iced long black tasted like a cold drip what more does one need
YUM! Chez Dre is one of my favourite places in South Melbourne! It has such a broad range of options that if you're feeling like a simple breakfast you can be satisfied but if you're after something a bit more exciting they have that too! The pastries and cakes here are also delicious, would highly recommend going as a little dessert adventure too!
Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm and to my surprise, me and my friend were able to get a table straight away.
I ordered the panzanella salad with grilled chicken and my friend ordered the steak. And let me say we were both quite happy with what we got.
The decor of the place was modern and clean. Staff were friendly and informative of their menu and service was prompt. Will definitely return.
Always wanted to try this famous place and finally came around here. Ordered the french toast which is my go to dish now. It was nice and fluffy not overly sweet with an ice cream scoop to balance the flavour. Service was a bit slow when you sat at the other side of the counter.
Chez Dre is a very sharp and classy operation. The moment you walk in you get a real “this is going to be good” vibe about it. It’s a sprawling venue that gives you full view of where all the magic happens as you stroll on through.
The two dishes ordered by The Dear Luncher and Mrs Luncher: 1) Kale and Grain salad 2) Panzanella salad with chicken. The Panzanella was what The Dear Luncher consumed. It was littered with chopped bread and tomatoes. The tomatoes were zesty as f—k. The dressing was not quite a balsamic but certainly along the lines of one. Plentiful chicken, prepared and presented extremely well. Right up there with one of the better salads ever experienced.
It comes as no surprise that this is popular haunt for both South Melbourne locals and visitors. Although this was a lunch visit, The Dear Luncher gets the impression from many of the breakfast images that this would be a kick-ass breakfast venue.

Lovely place to spend your Sunday morning, catching up with your friend. The chai latte was okay and the food was a bit medium but overall it was above average.
Fabulous coffee so good I had two and plan on coming back for more! I had the French toast on brioche, it also had berry compote, lemon ricotta, raspberry dust, golden syrup, strawberry + oat gelato. I really enjoyed it, I don't like my brunch desserts too sweet and this dish is well balanced. More coffee pics to come.
Courtyard is beautiful on a nice day, and it's cosy inside for a cold one. Chai and coffee are both nice. I've tried the kale/grain salad with salmon (very, very good), the chorizo and peas (great flavour combos but I felt it needed one more component to the dish), and the zucchini fritters which were a special (amazing flavours but probably should have come with one more fritter). They have lovely treats and bread available to take home too.
I also love that their kitchen is open in the middle of the cafe - it's great transparency when places do this and is appreciated.
Authentic cafe with consistently good food and coffee. Cozy inside on a winter’s day and refreshing in the lovely courtyard in summer. Staff is attentive and mostly friendly.

Went for breakfast this morning had the smashed peas on toast and a coffee. Nice atmosphere solid food and coffee okay. Service needs a little bit more attentiveness but the girl who served our table was friendly as were all the staff
Menu now different from what is currently on here. Babychino comes with homemade marshmallow, nice. Was lucky to get seating straight away. Small but nice rear courtyard that you can bring dogs to. Coffee was good.
