Review Banoi - Melbourne

Minn Wu
Deep fried chicken with spicy source is really goodšŸ˜Š Very worth to visit and have a try. Beef pho and chicken noodle salad are also nice. Great volume and flavour which are very satisfying. Cold rolls are nice but the filling has too much noodle but only a little bit of lettuce. This might not be really worth to order.

Good ambience. Starters:Rice paper roll with the soy dipwas very yummy Salt and pepper Chicken ribs were crisp just like any other deep fried one, Main: The chicken curry soup was rich in flavour. Tofu Rice : Mild and subtle dish which is a must try !! Altogether this is one of the must visit Vietnamese cuisine in docklands .

This restaurant is always pack. If you want to guarantee a table, you better arrive early before the lunch crowds. I have never try their dinner menu before. I really enjoy their Imperial Spring Rolls. It's very unique and much nicer than the traditional spring rolls. When I first went there I always ordered their Softshell Crab Vermicelli. It was so good with lots of veggies and it's huge. They have since removed Softshell Crab from the menu. Now my go to option is The Spicy Beef & Pork Noodles Soup or the Fried Salt & Pepper Chicken Ribs. For the drink It is definitely the Kumquat Lemonade. Personally I think it's a good restaurant for quick meal. I know that some of my colleagues have different experience from mine. But one thing for sure is that they all enjoy the Imperial Spring Rolls.

A little disappointed with the quality of food, was expecting more after reading the reviews. Imperial spring rolls was delicious, Beef Pho was average and salt&pepper chicken just ok. Service was average maybe they were just tired because it was late at night.

Sensational, simply sensational! Absolutely loved everything about this place, the vibe the service and the food! Super flavorful packed with lots of freshness we had the spring rolls, salt and pepper ribs, bun bon hue and the lemongrass broken rice! Amazing, definitely come back here again!

Great place with good ambience. Food was great. Went with the Veg Spring rolls, veggie steamed bun for starters and Chicken curry vermicelli noodles with toasted bread for mains. Very nicely done. Note that this place is always busy so try to book it in advance to avoid surprises.

Looks nice and good reviews with very interesting menu including cocktails, but if you're familiar with Vietnamese food you might by disappointed by the dull taste of most dishes.

There's a lot of choices to pick on from the menu, and they are beautifully presented. Flavour wise, they are good but on a pricey side. Lunch time is super busy, so come early.

According to my Viet friend, this is a pretty decent Vietnamese restaurant.

Banh Mi $5.57

Not sure why but the banh mi I ordered contained ham - probably the worst banh mi Iā€™ve eaten since ham does not go well with banh mi. Looking at the other food ordered, seems to be fine & feedbacks were decent.
Vi Tran
Pretty good Vietnamese food. Loved the spring rolls as they were different from elsewhere using rice paper roll sheets. Only downfall is coffee is not what it looks like in the photo.

Banoi is somewhat of an institution in Docklands. As lunchtime arrives the tables quickly fill and the queue at the takeaway counter spills out to the curb of the footpath.

Banoi offers excellent Vietnamese inspired dishes including pho & Bahn mi as well as some great noodle and satay dishes. A favourite of mine is the lunchtime set of a Pho Cup, spring rolls, half a pork bahn mi & kumquat juice or iced coffee. I have had this sitting in and take away and find it hard to stray from it given the variety it offers. Today we dinner in with a vegan work colleague who had very limited options unfortunately. They had run out of baguettes so she ended up with a plate of bland tofu and rice ... not ideal.

Iā€™ve had lunch here on numerous occasions and love it, however, upon ordering a takeout version the results were drastically unsettling. The quality and quantity of takeaway is drastically different from eating in. Not worth the price!

The best pork buns and trust me... 2 of them will fill you up.

@banoi.melbourne Was looking forward to crispy roasted pork but was told that it was only available on fridays. Had the lemongrass pork rice,Cao Lau noodles and crispy prawn rice paper rolls. The Cao Lau noodles would have been perfect with the crispy roast pork #visitgranny
Yummy Tummy
I love the banh mi bread rolls especially the mixed ham one. They are the best ones I have had in the city and at a cheap price for the city at only $5.50 for take away. I paid $10 for one near ltl Collins st and it didn't taste half as good. It is comparable in taste and price to footscray bread rolls. It's my go to lunch item. The other menu items I have tried like pho are ok for the price you pay... nothing too memorable. But definitely come here for the bread rolls. Come early as there's usually a massive queue at lunch time.

I met a couple of friends in the Docklands for dinner. The service was nice and friendly.

For dinner we ordered some vegetarian spring rolls which were crispy, piping hot and really tasty.

Then we had some pork skewers, and they were good but not really something that I would have ordered generally.

The steamed pork buns were excellent, light, fluffy and some of the best that Iā€™ve eaten texture wise, Ana the filling was great but there wasnā€™t much of it.

We had some rice pancakes which were served with some cold processed meat, which was unusual but it worked.

And finally the chicken curry was great but there was a lot of sweet potato and white potato and the curry needed some kick lol

Overall it was a good night, and Iā€™d definitely go back.

My partner and I come here for lunch every once in a while and they always do job. Cute little place with friendly staff and delicious food!

Very average. Does not have the authetic viet taste to it. Pho noodles were too thick. Grilled chicken was nice however and loved the iced coffee. Service staff were really friendly

Good casual place for Vietnamese food (albeit, more on the hipster, trendy & slightly expensive side). I've had the set menu for lunch several times which I think is great value for money. You get half a banh mi, some pho, spring rolls and an iced coffee, a really satisfying meal. I personally prefer the banh mi down the road at Le Nguyen, but I like coming here for the set lunch because you have a taste of everything.
No Seafood Please
While the food here is good, charging a customer $1.50 to swap prawn & crab spring rolls for pork or vegetarian in your lunch ā€˜specialā€™ is extremely poor form. Making this change for a long standing customer with seafood allergies is about as easy as it gets, just put three cheaper spring rolls in the fryer. Doubt Iā€™ll be back.

Looking for some casual lunch or dinner spots? Well the search is over and I have a confession to make. Iā€™m addicted to @banoi.au lol Iā€™m serious, I have been eating here every week on my lunch breaks and I canā€™t seem to stop. This Vietnamese chain perfects my fav dish of vermicelli noodles, grilled chicken and salad. Itā€™s fresh, healthy and so delicious. But wait thereā€™s more; their bao buns, chicken ribs, pho and lunch banquets are everything to help you forget about the deadlines and frustrating stakeholders. Did I mention they do lychee crushes, fresh passionfruit sodas ( šŸ’£) and ridiculously good strong Vietnamese coffee? With three spots in town, I think my work here is done, have a great one MFG x

+ speedy service, delicious food, good value, multiple locations
- language barrier sometimes with service, stools for seating (canā€™t sit for long periods of time), outdoor has no table service

Banoi is a Vietnamese restaurant that serves a mixture of contemporary and traditional dishes within a modern environment. Weā€™ve eaten here many times and find the majority of the dishes really good, while some of them not so much.

With entrees, the springs rolls here are made with a unique crumb pastry which is pretty delicious, while the Sriracha Chicken Ribs are surprisingly good. For mains, the variety of vermicelli salads and the Pork & Prawn Dry Combination Noodles are our favourites to recommend. A more obscure choice is probably the Saigon Steamed Rice Rolled Pancake - itā€™s not a dish youā€™d see often, and itā€™s definitely worth trying out.

Unfortunately, the Pho here is pretty subpar; it lacks the subtle sweetness and flavour of most Pho, and is simply too salty. Stick to more traditional Pho places if thatā€™s what youā€™re after. Also the Vietnamese Hot Bread is mediocre here. Again, there are better places to go for that.

Apart from the food, the environment is very cool; they always have chill indie music playing. However, the service is a bit indifferent sometimes depending on the staff. Overall, this place is a top choice for somewhat contemporary (and non-Pho) Vietnamese food.
Sunny Days Melbourne
I love this little Vietnamese eatery in Docklands. The wooden theme for its interior is warm and welcoming.
The Chicken Salad with Asian herbs was fresh and tasty while their Pork and Prawn Dry Combination Noodle was a sight to behold - a mountain of bean sprouts and herbs on well cooked egg noodles plus generous portions of meat. Everything was delicious but it took awhile for the food to come out. Fortunately the lovely waitress kept us up to date and apologised for the delay.
Will be back.
Petit Cochon
I used to love their banh mi. Especially the bread. But on Monday 5/11/18 they served horrible heavy and chewy bread. Felt like they bought from woolies or Coles. I know for sure they bought the bread rolls from Coles or woolies. Very disappointing and lazy from a banh mi place. Will not come back again.
SusieQ
Called into this lovely very busy restaurant. We were given a table promptly and offered water and menus. We ordered rice paper rolls, ban mai, pork mince satay and chicken ribs. All delicious. Will return
Chao Zelin Ma
One of my favorite Viet places in town. Great Vietnamese flavors and craft beer selection. Side dishes are a highlight for me. Love their bao, rice paper rolls and spring rolls.

I have been to banoi a number of times for their lunch menu which has been amazing. However I tried their takeaway for dinner last night and was shocked at the tiny portion of the food that was provided and the difference in quality. I ordered the beef patties vermicelli noodles and was greeted with a tiny paper box that was half filled with noodles and accompanied by two fried spring rolls and two beef patties just so they can meet minimum requirements. I tried to convince myself that it would taste amazing however I ultimately failed. When I tried out the noodles they were stuck together and the box was far too deep such that when I poured the dressing over the noodles I couldn't get the all of noodles to loosen up and absorb the sauce despite my attempts to mix the noodles around. This resulted in the first two thirds of the noodles being bland. The remainder was somewhat tasty, however it wasn't enough to redeem their predecessors. Overall I advise strongly against ordering takeaway from banoi and not let their their awesome lunch menu tell you otherwise

I've been here for lunch several times since I work in the areaĀ and have always been happy with the food, however on my most recent visit I ordered a wagyu beef salad for takeaway and was deeplyĀ disappointed with how tinyĀ the portion size was. Given that the salad appeared to beĀ listed in the main meal section of the menu and priced accordingly, I was expecting it to be a reasonable size but instead the container was barely a quarter full and there was only a cup's worth of salad! I don't consider myself to be a big eater but this was definitely more of a side salad, albeit a tasty one, and unfortunately I was left feeling hungry (and mildly outraged) afterwards. I'd be very realuctant to return to Banoi again after this experience,Ā which is a shame since their food is usually good however I just can'tĀ justify paying that much for such small portion sizes.Ā

Banoi is a veryĀ modest restaurant that serves very good inexpensive Vietnamese fare.Ā

We ordered Steamed bun, Pork Belly and Grilled Chicken Baos, Chicken Curry, Spicy Beef and Pork soup with Vermicelli. Quantity, Quality and Taste was excellent.

Ā Staff was friendly and very efficient.

A great place to grab lunch during work hours at docklands.

Ordered:
Salt and Pepper Tofu Rice Paper Rolls (2 rolls): deep fried silken tofu & kimchi sprouts - served with garlic & chilli soy sauce ($8.00)
šŸ² Beef Noodle Soup (Phį»Ÿ TĆ”i): fragrant & aromatic homestyle noodle soup served with rare beef ($14.00)Ā

Review:
The Rice Paper Rolls aren't traditional but I liked the vegetarian spin. The wrapping was a little too fragile, which meant the noodles burst from its casing quite easily. I think less noodles and more tofu would've been ideal.

Banoi was also good enough that it fulfilled my once a year pho craving. There's plenty of aromatic broth to noodle ratio, and the crunch from the fresh bean sprouts added that much needed texture. With a deceptively clear broth, there's a brewing of much more complex spices and ingredients that is cooked over time. On top of that, you get to adjust it how you like. Add as much basil leaves/lemon juice/hoisin sauce as you can to make that dish your own.

Quite hip and funky Vietnamese restaurant. The banh mi, vermicelli bowls and rice paper rolls have lots of variety. The iced white coffee is great too
Foodies.and.Coe
Excellent spot that is a little hidden given it is down in Docklands. Service was speedy and efficient whilst still providing excellent quality food. The pork belly bao is perfect, with a beautifully flavoursome sauce. Highly recommend the rice pancake with pork for something a little different.
Justine
The sriracha fried chicken wings are sooo delicious!! The beef pho was nice and a large portion size. It comes with lemon, basil and bean shoots on the side as youā€™d expect, but some hoisin sauce would top it off.
Bay Jiang
Love the Vietnamese coffee and beef pho! Everything taste so good! Becoming the place for my comfort food! Wait till you try the pork belly buns. Can't help but keep going back. Seating abit tight but service staff is attentive and helpful.

Food comes out quickly and is fresh. The lunch deals are great value and the rest of the menu is good too.
The seats inside aren't the most comfortable and it isn't the biggest place but the food is probably the best out of the rest of the places in Docklands.
Great place to come for lunch on a work day!
The Casual Diner
Will come back for:
+ Lunch sets

This must be one of my favourite lunch eateries this side of town. The dishes are always fresh, textural and delicious. This time round I had the Lunch Set A (a cup of beef pho, half a Bahn mi, 3 imperial spring rolls and the Vietnamese coffee) as well as a bbq pork bun (it was cold and I was particularly hungry). The lunch set was a great way to taste the food in this place. I particularly like the pho and the spring rolls and the coffee. Will definitely be back to try to order their individual dishes.

I came here almost every week for lunch. Itā€™s always packed during lunch so with a big group, you should definitely make a booking beforehand.

Their beef pho was quite salty for my liking but their spicy beef noodle had never failed to satisfy my cravings (the broth was very rich in favour).
However, my go-to dish recently had been the vermicelli salad. You would never go wrong if you set your mind on the Salt & Pepper Tofu Salad or the BBQ Pork patty one. They were absolutely tasty and flavourful if being well-mixed.

Service was quite slow. The wait for takeaway could be frustrating.
Extra charge if paying by card so be mindful to carry some notes with you.

Great food, good ambience and quick service. Loved the place! I had the M6 and the pork was just melt in your mouth. Recommend the dish as a must have. They are busy during lunch hours and its tough to get a spot but they are definitely the best in the area!!

Been here a couple of times for work lunch. Usually order the banh mi or lunch set. The restaurant is one of the best at serving Vietnamese food that tastes like home made food. The BBH is really good.
Toffa24
Tiny takeaway portions. Just collected a vermicelli noodle salad for takeaway and the meal fills a quarter of the takeaway box at best. At $14 I expected a meal, not a tiny snack. Iā€™m heading out to buy another lunch now. Not happy guys.

Great place for a quick lunch. Fill out your order form and pay inside, self service water. Good choice of seats inside and out and designed well that you can easily pull tables together for larger groups. Great lunch deal and fairly large menu. We shared a few things and had a great glass of wine. Really tasty baos and nice spicy sauce. Will bring more friends here on lunch! Also ordered the chicken ribs which were crispy. My highlight were the veggie spring rolls, amazing flavour could go as far as saying the best Iā€™ve had in Melbourne, yum yum yum.
Ann T
My go to for a quick bite. Always popular during lunch time but the wait time isn't too bad. The banh mi's aren't tradition but have a nice twist to them.
Anh Huynh
Being recommended so many times forced me to give this place a try. The restaurant set up is pretty and unique. I ordered their Cao Lau noodle and it turned me right down. The whole thing was ridiculously sweet followed by a tiny amount of mixed greens and bean sprouts. This Cao Lau is absolutely overpriced. Donā€™t see myself as a repeat customer.

Best $15 lunch set - a cup of pho, half a banh mi, 3 (super delicious) spring rolls + Vietnamese iced coffee šŸ‘šŸ¼ Make sure you come here before 12pm during the week as it gets really packed later on.

Best pho in town! Great price, great service and great food always fresh
I could have a vegie pho from here everyday.
Def will recommend this place.

Food is just Divine. I love Vietnamese food. The ambience, service and food was really good. We had dietary requirements and they still catered for them... We ordered BBQ PORK BUNS, SPRINGROLLS, LEMONGRASS BEEF SALAD BOWL & VEGO SALAD BOWL. Servings are pretty good size and the pricing of all items are as per standard Melbourne dining restaurant rates..

I used to love this place a lot and I dine there quite frequently. However when the new owner comes in, they took away a lot of the good food - eg beef curry.

Recently I tried the spicy noodle and it is very bland, compared to other Viet shop down the road.

Banoi, Docklands, cuisine - Vietnamese! I love their rice paper rolls - I was a regular when I worked right opposite... not a fan of other vegetarian dishes though. In the photo - veg vermicelli salad... pretty good but their rice paper rolls are the best. @banoi.au #rating3.5 #vegetarian #lovemylife #docklands #melbournecbd #weekdaylunch #workinglunch #vegbourne #vegetarian #vietnamese #vegetarianfood #vegetarianrocks #vegetarianblogger #instablogger #foodblogger #foodielife #foodie #ricepaperrolls

I have eaten many vermicelli bun in my lifetime and this is the best one Iā€™ve tasted by a long shot. I ordered the lemongrass Beef Bun and lemongrass is exactly what I tasted and when combined with the satay, it made the tender beef extremely flavoursome. I cannot stress how good, how perfect this Bun is. I am now faced with the dilemma of ordering it elsewhere and not being satisfied!! This followed the delicious entree i chose which was the Pork Belly steamed Taco Bun and with the first bite the flavours really shone with the sweet candied chilli sauce, tender pork and the fresh cucumber and coriander, again stunning! The entire evening was perfect and how nice to give us a complementary dish because the one we ordered was no longer available. Great service, brilliant menu and I canā€™t wait to come back.

Itā€™s always tricky finding a good place for group lunches, catering not only for a range of dietary requirements but tastes and personal preferences as well. We chose Banoi for a group lunch of 7 and were very impressed by the delicious food, efficient service and easy booking process. We particularly loved how the menu allows for a range of protein choices in the bases of pho, vermicelli noodles and rice, as well as some specialty dishes like salads.

I had the vermicelli noodles with lemongrass beef which was full of flavour, texture and absolutely perfect on a hot summer day. I also tried some of the grilled chicken which was beautifully juicy and tender. I loved the cold Vietnamese coffee (just the right amount of sweetness) and lychee crush (very sweet but not artificial and super refreshing).

Will definitely return and be adding this to be regular lunch rotation in Docklands!
Tania
This place has a great atmosphere, super busy during peak hour. Food was a bit expensive for what you get - fancy Vietnamese food. The most expensive bowl of BBH I've ever eaten.
Divya Sharma
This place made me fall in love with vermicelli noodles! One vegetarian dish in the menu and I have still been here so many times now. That's what good food does!
Don'tMessWithMyFood
I quite like the ambience here. Multiple options on the menu, having tried a few, my favourite is always the Vietnamese noodle salad with grilled chicken, or with soft shell crab.
Finish up with a Vietnamese drip coffee and you'll be a happy Chappy šŸ˜Š
Melbourne Food Journey
Great selection of Vietnamese dishes that are presented in a modern way. This place is very efficient and manages the crowd of diners and takeaways well. The grilled chicken vermicelli bowl is quite good. You select your table's order on a menu sheet and give it to the waiter. Seating can be a bit cramped but the fresh food makes up for it.
Sawyer Lee
I am really obsessed with their chicken ribs right now! It is sooooooooo divine. Can't stop loving it. Please don't take it away this one from your menu! Love the new menu, those photo really helps me decide what to order.

Hadn't been to Banoi in quite awhile. I headed in for a Pho the other day on my lunch break which is very much peak hour. I walked in, got a table but it took quite some time to get anyone's attention to take my order off me once filled out what I wanted.Ā Once my pho came, it look vibrate and fresh which it was and no complaints for the flavour however there was very little beef. I couldn't believe it. Especially at the cost $13 - it has to be one of the most expensive pho's in Melbourne and I got a bowl of broth, and noodles with next to no beef.
Jasmine Do
Came here for dinner and the food and service was amazing.

The staff were really nice and friendly and the food came out promptly, served hot and delicious. The chicken curry is a must try as well as the coconut red bean smoothie.

Will be bringing my family here to eat soon.
Ignatia
Having a hearty bowl of beef pho on a cold day is such a bliss. I love their pho and fried salt & pepper chicken ribs too. Very tender and flavorful food. I had coconut crush for the drink and it was refreshing. I'm just glad that I found this place. Recommended! šŸ‘

Food is not bad but not amazing either.
Portion size is small especially for the price.
I only come here to eat the steamed rice roll pancake. But it is often unavailable.
Hungry Jeweller
Trendy decor and ambience. Food is delicious, especially enjoy the imperial spring rolls and Asian 'tacos'. Lunch set is good value. Fresh soy milk is refreshing. Service is prompt and efficient
Michael
We ordered a bowl of beef pho and lemongrass beef vermicelli and some imperial spring rolls. Whenever I have pho I'm looking for a rich, deep broth. This wasn't quite there but decent. I guess I'm spoiled by a Vietnamese friend who makes the best pho broth! We enjoyed the lemongrass vermicelli. A good amount of beef but bit more vermicelli would have given it more balance. The spring rolls were light and crispy and tasty. Definitely worth a try.
Peter Sinclair
Eaten here several times. Soups rolls noodles are all good. The pho is good. A savior for that docklands area which is a dud
Clean and value for money this restaurant would compete in any location
Regularly clean and good
Love At First Bite
Find us on instagram: loveatfirstbite_aus

Awesome viet food. Not a heap of options in the docklands and this is definitely one of the best! Their Gua Baos (while not viet) are great. Their pho is also pretty good - decent flavour but a bit strong with the aniseed for my liking.
Taeyeon's Hamster
This place is packed during lunch and dead at night. It's a modern deco with a fresh feel for the dishes they serve. What I love is the crispy chicken with cold vermicelli. Their ice coffee is a little sweet and not very big at all. I had the soft shell crab once with vermicelli but the chilli sauce was too overpowering and too much for my appetite. Lunch sets are cute with cup of pho, springrolls, half a banh mi and a drink. Their pho isn't the best but still ok. Portions are bit smaller to really fill you up.
Cookielessvee
Friendly service and indoor and outdoor seating. Theres a lunch special that comes with springrolls, pho cup and half a banh mi. Well made and flavoured. Rice paper rolls are cold and seems theres more vegetables than meat.
Long Black With Cinnamon
Loveeeee this place! Great menu, quick service, great pricing and good food even for healthy options :) crispy spring rolls are a favourite with the work group and my latest dish experience was the soy chicken rice and a lychee crush :)
Nomafoodic Chipineats
the taco buns are great.. i always have that when i visit banoi.. also the imperial spring rolls.. eat that with some fresh beansprouts.. crunch crunch.. good vibes, great atmosphere.. one of the few good places open in docklands for dinner

Well chosen Selection of delicious Vietnamese delights. Modern and great Zen atmosphere, great for office lunches too. Must try the pancake sandwich.
Joan K.
Ordered soft shell crab for lunch. Light and tasty with lots of vegetable. Taco with crispy pork is good too.
Would recommend anyone who want to have a quick bite.
Piggyeatalot
Surprisingly tasty Pho, really silky smooth noodles and tender beef. The chili had a nice kick to it.

The spring rolls we ordered were the crab and shrimp one. At first I couldn't even locate in under a mound of lettuce, but it was super delicious
Sarah In Melbourne
Fast and easy lunch! Their spring rolls are reasonably good! Fresh spring roll ( teriyaki chicken) , fried imperial and beef pho is always on my list of order. Their pho comes in a huge bowl and the soup is a little spicy which I love. Had their iced Vietnamese coffee too - the bitterness and the sweetness of the coffee complemented each other really well.
Not to forget their pancake and their tacos are so so good!!!
QB
Tasteless..... cold upon delivery..... not sure how spring rolls can be made bland..... even with addition of sweet chilli

Bland pho.

Will not re-visit

2 stars is a liberal rating

QBšŸ‘øšŸ¼

A lot of people rave about this place and I've eaten here a handful of times now, ordering pho and vermicelli noodles. You're paying expensive prices for pretty standard Vietnamese food. Rice paper rolls are almost double what you would pay elsewhere. There isn't a lot else in the area that can compete which results in this being a pretty busy spot but I've definitely had better pho out in the suburbs for a much better price.
Adrian
So I write this review whilst sitting in the restaurant ...

Friends of ours ordered drinks and waited >30min for them to arrive. Food has been ridiculously slow. Half the food has been brought out over the past hour.

This is greatly disappointing. The food we have had has been wonderful, just getting hungry waiting for more of it to arrive. I know the four of us won't ever be visiting this place again. Good service can make up for terrible food, Good food can't make up for terrible service.

First time here. Take away. I decided to go here because they had a very reasonably priced Banh Mi ($5.50). Was it any good? Yes!!! There were plenty of fresh ingredients. It seems crowded when you get there but don't let that stop you. The wait is ~9 mins from the time I ordered inside, to the time I received my order. Not bad on a busy, sunny, lunchtime in this area. I enjoyed the process of ordering and paying inside, getting my number, and waiting outside for the banh mi. Not enough information to rate this any higher for now. I will try having a full meal here (I imagine it will be amazing).
James Chang
Put in the order form with 2 items. Waited 20 mins and chased for food. I was told that the form was not put through. Ā I had to complete the form again and insisted that our order was put into the front of the queue. Waited another 20 mins and this time only 1 item arrived. By the time I finished, my friend's order still haven't Ā arrived. We had to go back to officer by then and my poor friend went without lunch. Poor service and the food was not all that great.
The Hangry One
Best pho in Melbourne! I usually order the beef pho which tastes amazing. The beef melts in your mouth and isn't chewy like most of the other pho restaurants in the area. It can be difficult to get a seat around lunch/dinner times but well worth the wait.
Tina Salameh
Food is consistently fantastic but they need to improve their meticulous and friendly service. Chicken tacos and beef noodles are the bomb. One of My favourites. Best rice paper rolls in melb.
Bbhood85
ordered the lunch special and soft shell crab taco, spring rolls were the standout dish, nice and crispy the bahn mi and pho were standard, soft shell crab taco was a little underwhelming not much going on in the bao. Ā Good service though, average food and a little pricey for what you get.
Petal Loves Food
Taco buns, everybody's doing it. But that doesn't mean it's bad! Banoi makes their's REALLY WELL. Soft steamed buns, great texture & fresh. Dough does not get caught in your teeth. Fresh ingredients always.
My other favourite's the imperial spring rolls. This one is rather unique and not made by many! I love chewing alongside some beansprouts.
Everything is great except for the beef salad- way too much marinades but there must have been a mistake! Things happen in the kitchen and as customers we ought to understand!!
Cynthia Giang
Came here for lunch and grabbed a fairly decent lunchtime deal - flavours were enjoyable but not as authentic and exactly there are true Vietnamese cuisine. Food is refreshing and quite clean, making it a guilt-free meal. Staff were quite friendly, and the place is bustling and lively!

I came here on a Friday night with some friends. The establishment itself is very modern with a modern VietnameseĀ menu. ThereĀ were a number of items from the menu which appealed to me, such as the soft shell crabs, pork belly and tacos. So not surprisingly, I orderedĀ a slow cooked pork belly taco and theĀ soft shell crab vermicelli.Ā TheĀ taco bun was nice and soft howeverĀ I have had better pork belly buns elsewhere.Ā The vermicelli was light and refreshing however I felt it was a bit bland and needed a nice sauce to go with it (maybe some traditional nuoc mam?).
Amid
Great joint to go for a lunch fix during work. Usually with nice combo meals and drinks. It is not fully authentic but it is good enough for lunch. Try the deal with pho and spring rolls and kumquat drink , worth the money !

Stopped past here last night for dinner after work - was pleasantly surprised to find it open and quite mellow in terms of the crowd. A refreshing change from the lunch time chaos every day.

Got pork skewers as an entree, and then I had a chilli wanton noodle soup and husband had salt and pepper chicken ribs. I'll be honest, it was nice enough but I was expecting better. The pork skewers were kind of like hot twiggy sticks on skewers - tasty enough, but did not wow me. I also was ambivalent about the soup. The noodles and broth were great, the wantons only so-so, and there was a few random, measly, slightly gristly bits of pork mince in there. I'm not sure if they were even supposed to be in the dish as there were so few - but if they were an ingredient, there should have been a lot more and it should have been a lot nicer. My husband really enjoyed his ribs though, which has lifted my rating a little from what it would have been if we were talking about my food alone.

Kumquat lemonade was delicious as always. Service was fine.

I went there for lunch with a friend and ordered the lemongrass beef vermicelli salad. It was quite enjoyable, the vermicelli was warm which i liked. The portion was reasonable. I think their prices are a bit high though. Their customer service was really quick despite the lunch rush.

Banoi is very popular. There is often a huge line during lunch times. Thankfully we got the last couple of seats this time around.

I ordered their lunch special which comes with half a Banh mi type roll, small cup of pho and 3 mini spring rolls. It was great. I really enjoyed it but the Banh mi wasn't the best ... If I hadn't been hungry I probably wouldn't have eaten that. The spring rolls were great though, but small.

Great service, reasonable value. Quality ingredients that tasted very fresh and light. Rice paper rolls a bit overloaded with noodles. Other meals could have been a bit more flavoursome, excellent but not exceptional.

I have been to this place a numerous amount of times and it never disappoints!! It is one of the better places to eat at Docklands as the food is really good. Went back last night for the first time in about 6 months and it still hasn't changed the staff are so lovely and friendly and the food is absolutely Devine. We ordered the prawn rice paper rolls to start off with and they came out pretty fast the taste was sensational however the rice paper was a little dry you could sort of tell it was leftovers from the lunch run unfortunately. I then ordered the BBQ chicken vermicelli salad and I wasn't so disappointed with entree it was so fresh and so tasty. We also ordered the BBQ pork pancake to try and that was nice just a little on the oily side but the presentation was sensational. I do recommend trying the rice paper rolls because they are generally really tasty it may have just been a once off. I have definitely missed this place!

Amazing vietnamese food. Our favourites are the prawn spring rolls and the chicken taco buns! And my favourite drink the custard apple smoothie! Super refreshing. We have been here several times. Can't wait to be back. Yum! Highly recommended

I never liked the idea of Vietnamese food until I went here with colleagues for lunch. Food is super fast, reasonably priced and yummy. I don't suggest ordering take away though as they got my order wrong a few times and the lady on the phone found it hard to understand myself and my friend when trying to order.

Read reviews before we went there which seemed great, but unfortunately our experience wasn't. With my partners peanut allergy we ensured all options that we ordered did not contain peanuts. Started with the chicken rice paper roles that were tasty, then the pork belly banoi taco that was ok. Then the lemon grass beef that wasn't great. Whilst eating the lemon grass beef my partner started getting a tingling in his lips and tongue we checked with the staff that there was definitely no peanuts in our meal to which they confirmed. Eventually the tingling went away so we thought we were in the clear and it may have just been a slight trace of nuts on something. However an hour later he was having a full on allergic reaction and sitting in an emergency medical room. My advice is to avoid this place at all costs especially if you have allergies as there must have been some cross contamination or their staff are uneducated about ingredients in their meals.

Great set up. Nice looking theme environment . But shocking enough they couldnt offer certain dishes that was on the menu. First and last time here.

The fried salt and pepper chicken ribs were fantastic, would definitely recommend the dish. I'm looking forward to trying the other items on the menu, in particular the pho to see how it compares.

Second time here. Had the lemongrass beef and friend had the beef curry. This food is so fresh and clean! Always refreshing meals with a good balance of meat, carb and lots of vegetable. Meals were quick the staff friendly and I especially enjoyed coming to docklands for a change of scenery. Custard apple smothie also really really tasty

What a fantastic little find! Was looking for a nice little Vietnamese place for dinner with my parents for their last night in Australia and this turned out to be just perfect.

A small little restaurant in the Docklands, it offers a range of Vietnamese dishes (not just pho!) in a modern looking but still casual space. The food is very fresh, flavoursome and you can see it cooked right there as the kitchen is fairly open. We barely spoke once food arrived, we were too busy enjoying it to chat! The slow cooked pork belly and grilled chicken banoi tacos did cause my parents to make lots of 'mmmmm' noises though. All dishes looked appetising, but I particularly like the way the steamed rice rolled pancake speciality that my mum ordered was presented (pictured).

All mains are around $13 or $14 and are a good portion size - not too much, but enough for a light meal with room for a few extras. I'd recommend getting a few of the other small dishes as well to share, so you can try all Banoi has to offer.

The only bad thing about this place is that, due to its location, the surrounds are pretty dead in the evenings. So not much atmosphere outside and we had to travel back into the CBD for a drink afterwards.

Had the lunch special today and it was awesome as usual. Never disappointed when I come down to Banoi. Awesome atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended if you want a quick healthy Asian food fix!

I'm a little loathe to admit I like this place because gods forbid I enjoy anything in the Docklands but Banoi consistently delivers tasty when you need it. And you often need all of their tasty menu in your mouth stat. Haven't had a single thing disappoint me from here.

Given a choice, probably wouldn't take a trip out to the Docklands and eat here (there's great Viet further in) but if you have to work here, this place its Rock of Gibraltar.
Our Foodie Finds
Located just opposite my workplace, Banoi brings grandma's food to the corporate streets of Docklands. Fresh food, great vibe, managed and owned by young successful Vietnamese Australians and a Docklands favourite for those late night work sessions.

Service is quick, staff are friendly and the food is delicious. Make sure to get a smoothy too, freshly made. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

This venue serves authentic viet food at reasonable price for the taste and atmospheres. The dishes are more elevated in comparison with most viet foods around the area. Ā The staffs are friendly and helpful. We tried the cao lau noodle, Springroles, crispy pork with vermicelli noodle.Ā
The dishes were quick, fresh and delightful to taste.Ā
Definitely come back again for more.

Had a mid week dinner with a mate at Banoi docklands.

We ordered prawn spring rolls, pork taco's and the beef Pho. The taco's were great, I really like the Asian take on the Mexican staple.

The atmosphere was relaxed and modem and the staff were friendly but I found it hard to get their attention.

This is a great place to catch up with mates, have good food at a good price
This is a decent lunch spot in the Docklands area and good for a modern Vietnamese meal.Ā I have been here a few times and had the pho and lunch sets.Ā A bit pricier than traditional restaurants but to be expected in this area.Ā Always busy and there can be a queue at times.Ā Try the vietnamese coffee, very refreshing on a hot day.

There aren't too many choices for Vietnamese in Docklands so when I stumbled upon Banoi it was a must.

The queue was well and truly out the door so a great sign! We ordered the noodles with lemongrass beef, the VN beef curry and a chicken rice paper roll with peanut sauce.

The lemongrass noodles was fragrant and te dish of the day. The beef was good but lacked the fragrent Vietnamese herbs such as mint and lemongrass. It tasted more like a Japanese curry. Also, the enormous chunks of fat were a turn-off. The rice paper roll made up for the curry's pitfalls.

Only word of advice: staff need to know what the digital 'specials' board is displaying. I walked out as no one knew about the curry - and only when I asked another staff member did they put it through.
