free range chicken salad. so darn good had it 6 times. the sauce is galangal, coconut cream & lemongrass etc beautiful thankyou
The food is good here but a little overpriced.
Enjoyed the prawns and the betel leaves, pho was ok.
It’s nice food but there are cheaper venues with the same quality at a much lesser price.
Yum but could be cheaper
Outstanding service and delicious dishes. We ordered the “Best Bits” off the Chef’s menu ($45 pp) and loved every dish. Dishes were brought out at a great pace, and drinks were regularly topped up. The three different staff who served us were all smiling and happy which kept the mood light and fun. Be sure to book as the restaurant was full by 7:30 PM on a Thursday. Highly recommended.
The food was really tasty. You must order the Pork Hock so delicious, also the Peanut Parfait was beautiful and tasty(pictured). We really enjoyed all the food we ordered. I must go back and try some more dishes on the menu.
Food was delicious and I will go back just to try more of the extensive menu in offer! But unfortunately the chairs and tables are dated, the tables are rocky and move constantly and the chairs very uncomfortable. Perhaps the booths would be more of an enjoyable experience!? The staff are very attentive maybe too attentive, and small restaurant means of can get loud.
Lovely atmosphere
Delicious food
Attentive staff
8ill be back !

Can't fault this place, enjoyed everything we ordered (which was quite a bit!). I am just annoyed it took ua this long to find out about this place, as we have lived in the area for 4 years and had not heard of it! Will definitely be back :)
A cold Melbourne night and a warm welcome at this relatively new place. Melbourne is blessed with very good Viet food and Hanoi Mee is very competitive in a lovely location near the beach. The usual starters which were good but overshadowed by 2 excellent dishes. Spiced salmon in banana leaf was delicate fish in a robust sauce. Followed by A beautifully caramelised pork hock. Outstanding taste and beautifully soft meat.
Wine is inexpensive and the most expensive red being $55. Some lovely cocktails included a Ginger Margarita and an off menu ‘ Dark and Stormy’ which was as good as I’ve had in months. Service was efficient and friendly.
Highly recommended but You’ll need to book.
Great vibe at Hanoi, staff are welcoming and the food is amazing! Took me back to Vietnam with the flavours of the food.
The cocktails are great also! Good selection of drinks and food for all. Will definitely be coming back !
Wonder full Vietnam fusion restaurant. Love the food quality and taste, fine dining presentation. Awesome place to hangout with friends and families. Disappointing it’s not open for lunch.
Hanoi Mee is a realisation of co-owners Ennis Le (former Head Chef at Elwood's Dandelion) and Malcolm Bond’s passion for fine food and drink.
The restaurant puts a modern spin on traditional Vietnamese eateries and presents a casual yet refined dining experience. Ennis and Malcolm’s rich understanding of the Melbourne hospitality scene translates into a well-oiled machine more than capable of satisfying Melbourne’s inherent love of Asian food.
I have not ventured much into the dining scene of Port Melbourne so I was quite excited when I got an invite from Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) to check out Hanoi Mee Kitchen and Bar. Situated on Rouse Street, Hanoi Mee has a small but vibrant and colourful space. The interiors are tastefully done and represent modern Vietnamese in every nook and corner. Traditional crafts share space with modern industrial vibes to create a beautiful space that’s perfect for after work drinks or dinner with friends and family.
Great forward thinking restaurant. The signature Pork hock is amazing. We got the set menu and were not disappointed, except to say that both tables got the whole snapper which was not on the set menu and for which I will be returning in future!
This place is always busy and rightfully so. so book ahead. Really excellent food and service. Between 2 of us we started with the lemongrass chicken rice paper rolls, then the taro&sweet potato dumplings. Absolutely delicious, the dumpling dough was really soft and silky and a great mix of flavours. Then the soft shell crab mango& papaya salad (perfect amount of heat, it was not too spicy) followed by satay chicken stir fry. the matcha pana cotta with jelly base was the perfect finish and not overly sweet. We've been wanting to come here for a while and Will definitely be back to try more dishes. Everything was spot on.
Interesting that in a time when the Melbourne foodscene is readily embracing authenticity in foreign cuisine, a 'fusion' restaurant opens. The food is fresh and inventive but lacks robustness of flavours. The place has atmosphere and the service is great. Good to visit once, but if you want a 'real' Viet kick, it's not the place.
Some really great favours and combinations, nice relaxing vibe too after a busy day at work. Some delicious wines and cocktails too! Not much in Port Melbourne for dinner so this is great
Great service great food. Don't really know what else to say. Will keep coming back here. Great addition to Rouse St. Recommended if in the area.
Saw this place on the way home and it looked great from the street side, pulled over and just had a fast bite and drink, wow !! Great ambiance and feel about this place . Just had a couple of small entree's and a wine or two and as you can see by the pics below it was just beautiful. Can't wait to enjoy a full meal here. Staff very attentive and polite .
Great Vietnamese.
The cat 😼🐈
Delicious! Came here for dinner for a mid week catch up with the girls and was not disappointed! All our meals were super yum.
Staff were all lovely and meals came out in a reasonable time.
Instead of sharing we opted to all get our own as we all felt like different things, so I had the Pho Cuon which is steamed rice paper rolls filled with wok tossed beef and watercress served with dipping sauce - was spot on! For my main I had the Free range chicken coleslaw which was also very tasty. Can't wait to come back and try some other options very soon!
AMMMAAZZIING - I dont know what some of the reviewers are on about, Hanoi Mee delivered in every single way. Ive walked past a few times and noticed its busy so I booked our table which I recommend. The atmosphere was great, good vibes and love the Vietnamese paintings. The food was excellent. Every single dish was full of flavour, well portioned and cooked to perfection. There were many vegetarian options to choose from, the dishes had lovely presentation and the service was great. A welcome addition to Port Melbourne. Approx cost $50 per adult without alcohol. Will be back.
Dropped in at short notice - our waitress helped us choose a balance of foods as we weren't overly Hungary - very helpful - we had the best meal with new and fresh flavours - you can tell the ingredients had that love and care when you want your customers to have a great experience - the dumplings - the BEST we've ever had! Wow factor definitely; we'll be back 😃
Excellent food, although not cheap it is good value. Smart but relaxed decor and atmosphere. Service is fine. Port Melbourne is lucky to have this place, long may it last.
Been here twice now and the food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the pork hock and the twice cooked beef ribs. The service is great and staff is lovely!
A terrific little local restaurant serving very good modern Vietnamese leaning food. The restaurant has a impressive bar serving impressive cocktails, and the staff are friendly and excellent. How good this place is is evidenced by how popular it's become with the locals and how quickly it's been embraced. Hanoi Mee is a great addition to the (thankfully) improving Port Melbourne dining scene and deserves its success.
Have been the first time to this place yesterday for a quick lunch with my wife and we will surely come back. We tried the green prawns, which we have had so many times before, as Chef Ennis was making them in the previous place he was cooking for. To try something new, we went for Steamed prawn dumplings. They were beautifully served, each one of the four in its individual pot. The sauce they were dipped in was just fantastic, a completely new taste for us. Then we had small Beef and Chicken Phos, which were no disappointment at all - a lot of meat in it and fresh veggies served on the side. Despite being full, we could not resist trying a dessert, we went for the Vietnamese coffee creme caramel. There were fresh berries served on the side and it was delicious and beautiful - see it yourself. Despite this being my first review on Zomato (I wanted to review the place on Google where it has full stars but then saw these Zomato reviews and needed to respond), I am no newbie to the Melbourne cuisine scene.
We tried most of small bites and some main dishes, we were impressed. Its a fusion vietnamese restaurants, so dont expect to be authentic but who care is it authentic or not when the food is that good. Small place but big smile on customers and staff face. Absolutely enjoy, cant wait to come back.
i went there with a group of friends there was 6 of us some from vietnam and we all LOVED the food, myself i loved the pork hock and the beef short ribs, the service was fantastic nothing was to much trouble and everyone had a smile on their face which made such a nice atmosphere cant wait to go back again
We are locals in Port Melbourne and have thoroughly enjoyed the couple of times we have been here. These guys have a real passion for traditional Vietnamese food. Great to see and thanks for opening in Port.
we have been here 3 times already - the staff are beautiful, polite and charming. The food is amazing and we have had three great experiences. Love the spring rolls, green mango salad and the crab is awesome. Welcome to the neighbourhood! Just wish you had online booking!
I have dined here twice and all I can say is "Wow". The calamari, crab and shrimp spring rolls were amazing like nothing I have ever tasted, the green fried rice tiger prawn was equally amazing and the prawn cutlet stir fry was simply delicious. The portions were so generous and the staff were such beautiful people constantly checking to make sure your food is ok. I am looking to coming back again and again. To the person who gave them 1 star, I am not sure why they came to a Vietnamese restaurant to order a porterhouse steak, maybe they should stick to pubs instead.
My absolute favourite Vietnamese restaurant! It’s un-pretentious, laidback, brilliant quality food in a venue that has a great vibe. I’ve been here plenty of times now and can highly recommend the pork hock, beef ribs, prawn dumplings, taro, green rice prawns, sizzling beef, pork belly....the list goes on. The cocktails are also sensational! Thank you for opening a much needed venue in Port Melbourne!
This place is really good. Food and drinks were all delish. We ordered too much and couldn't finish it all because we were so full. Service was excellent. Only small negative is the smaller tables are quite cramped but that's very Vietnam anyway I think 😜 Recommended 👍🏽
Busy little place and after the food and service I can understand why, we sampled six entries all great particularly prawn dumplings and grilled ones
