We were three of us , we walked in with no reservation, it looked like walking into someone's house, it felt warm, cosy and welcoming.. The waitress greet us, gave us a table straight away and explained us that there is no menu but a daily menu and a chef choice menu (you just tell them any dietary requirement if any and the chef cooks for you) Which is what we opted for.. Then we choose the wine.. and what a wine list!! Every single dish were brought out by the waitress that was looking after us, she explained what it was and the philosophy behind the dish. Every single dish was packed with so many different layers of flavours and textures and really good looking dishes.. well presented! We were all surprised from the unexpected experience and we will definilly be back soon.

Fantastic restaurant. An accidental discovery google searching nearby The Olsen. I was a bit nervous about the chef feeding us concept but perfect meal and well matched with wines from our knowledgeable waiter. We will be back!

We crushed last night with no reservation because it was my birthday and wanted somewhere intimate and nice, and it absolutely nailed it. Every dish was very well presented and cooked, the atmosphere created with the open fire and the stairs to the second floor made it all feel like home. And the flavors were exquisite. They were lovely to the point of giving me a special treat for my celebration night : D Definitely recommended for date nights ; )

After all the years in south yarra we never have this place a thought. But definitely glad we did. We turned up on Saturday night with no booking and it was No problem for them. They made room for for us. That speaks volumes to me as a customer. Fantastic service and amazing food. Definitely going back.

Not only every single course was a 10 out of ten every single aspect on the plate was utter perfection! The service was also lovely, we both have a crush on our wonderful waitress! We are both grateful for an unforgettable experience.

Absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere was serene, comfortable and angelic. My snapper fillet was divine on the bed of mashed broad beans. A prosseco made the whole experience even more heavenly. I will be back with friends.

As per usual Da Noi did not disappoint. Not one for Baby Showers... I decided on an intimate lunch there yesterday with a few friends and family in celebration of the up and coming birth of our little boy. Any excuse to get back there. The food and service were impeccable not to mention the exceptional music that lingered through the room as everyone sipped on Aperol Spritz's and Vino. Thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon. It's no wonder Da Noi is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Melbourne.

What a lovely anniversary dinner this turned out to be! My partner and I are no strangers to fine dining and degustations, but Da Noi made a great and lasting impression on us!
Every dish from their course menu was flavourful, tasty and well-balanced. The majority of their ingredients come from their own farm! Anything they cannot grow or farm themselves they source locally and sustainably; as if you needed more reasons to dine here.
Service was friendly and attentive the whole night, and the restaurant may be small but it is cosy and has a lovely atmosphere.
Considering the quality and quantity of the food, the price tag is definitely worth the experience as well.

A truly wonderful experience which commenced the minute you walk in and see the young lady at the front window making pasta by hand (like my nonna and mamma used to make) to the intimate atmosphere, the attentiveness of the staff, and especially the magnificent Italian food. You must do the degustation menu, where the chef decides what you are served and not all diners are served the same. This has got to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne. Highly recommend it.

Amazing place and service. Was bought here for my bday. Can’t say enough words for the food and service. Every thing was exceptional. Best thing was the owner/chef made a special pizza just for me off the menu because I love pizza. Highly recommended and will come again very soon. Thank you for an amazing time.

Showcasing Sardinian food with seasonal produce from their farm.  Great service, ambiance and beautiful presentation. We had the chef's 'feed me' option ($85 per head), several hit and misses. The great thing about the chef's menu is that there are 4 courses and they will keep serving you till you are satisfied.  The pasta dishes were exceptional but the fried octopus were overdone and a bit chewy. Overall, flavors were good but nothing memorable.

Tiny restaurant on Toorak Road. We ordered the degustation meal, and we were presented with 4 dishes chosen by the chef. Service is attentive, the plating great and food preparation is excellent. The elements presented were surprising, innovative and yet binding together in harmony. The price is reasonable for such a high quality meal. Personally I would have like to be given a menu, although I did not mind to be guided by the chef in a blind culinary journey.

4.5. This was a wonderful dinner and I loved the concept of the 'feed me' meal where we were fed the dishes the chef decided to serve up that day and could order extra courses depending on appetite! From the lovely home made focaccia and sour dough bread, to the smoked fish, scallops, octopus, rabbit ragu pasta, suckling pig (my fav dish!) and dessert - there was plentiful food and I left entirely satisfied and very, very full! The service was friendly and attentive, with particular thanks to our waitress Monica. I love the fact that we were never rushed in the 4.5hrs we were there, and did not have a limited 2 or 2.5h session like a lot of other restaurants now do to increase the number of guests a night. Also, for only $85 per person, the chefs menu was excellent value. Will definitely be returning to try more dishes.

Came back again for another lovely dinner. The feed me dinner was now $90 but still excellent value. Service was exemplary. We had oysters, kingfish, octopus, pasta (my fav tonight), pork belly, dessert and amaretto (excellent). Highly recommend! One of my favourite Italian (Sardinian) restaurants in Melbourne.

What a great evening. We had not eaten here for some time but decided to return for Audrey's birthday dinner to again eat whatever the kitchen decided to send us!

A warm welcome from the cold outside set the tone for the rest of the evening. We left with a genuine sense of being looked after - especially by Marta whose recommendations regarding wines to match the food were spot-on. The meal concluded with an impromptu lesson about Tonka beans and Mirta (a fantastic Sardinian digestif).

And the food..... EVERYTHING that we ate was fantastic. No misses, no boundaries pushed too far, just incredible examples of flavours , textures and combinations that just worked. Scallops with Jerusalem artichoke purée and crispy prosciutto, bacalao that was beautifully full of flavour without the excessive saltiness that can be a problem. Perfect pyramids of pasta filled with zucchini and prawn with just enough chilli to warm the mouth - and the filling retaining the textures of the individual ingredients. Spit-roasted lamb from chef Pietro Porcu's farm - served rustic on the bone, just made for picking up and enjoying every morsel! The cheeses were a great aged pecorino served with honey and a (properly) truffled cheese that was filled my mouth with that amazing truffle flavour. I don't usually eat dessert but couldn't pass up a delicate chocolate fondant which oozed its centre when opened with a Tonka bean custard forming a moat of yum!

Will we be back? You betcha!

Sardinia In Melbourne...
Walk through the door into the implausibly narrow restaurant and be transported to a far away place settled by Phoenicians and many others. The second largest island in the Med, and rarely spoken of. Sheeps head tortellini and exotic fare by Australian Anglo Celt standards. . It's not Italian. It's Sardinian. Ignore the knockers' 'reviews' which are autobiographical. Just go and let yourself go to Sardinia as presented in Melbourne. It's not a restaurant. It's a TARDIS. Don't come to eat and then whine. Come to travel to Sardinia when you cross the portal. Ignore self focussed ratings. Suspend your disbelief and visit da noi.

Enjoyed another exceptional meal at this beautiful intimate restaurant. A seasonally inspired menu updated daily and using the freshest of local Victorian ingredients in the most ingenious of ways. We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh round parcels of exquisite pecorino filled pasta with Guinea Fowl ragu. This was a most amazing combination of flavours.

Well hell, what an establishment we have here, one that does not adhere to nouveau fare and all those queers.  Centurial couplings of spinach and ricotta make my heart flow for a time lost yonder. Don't bother me with details of kombucha and kale trifle, unless you want a backhand to one of your disciples. I am not here to coddle your heart or your eggs instead I'll drop dietary truths until the worlds fed, truthfully and beautifully. Without a hint of duplicity or introverted stupidity, no more chipotles pressuring to scold and make me pay for more. If you approach me on the street I'll redirect you to Da Noi and they'll teach you how to eat and stop your culinary defeat.

Fantastically wonderful! Everything about Da Noi is 5 star. The food was divine and the staff very attentive. A fantastic list of wine and all of their ingredients sourced from their very own farm. We had the degustation with selections made by the chef and everything was lovely.

Love this place! The best pasta you will ever get outside Italy. Had the feed-me menu, every dish was exceptional. Service fantastic, atmosphere was great, and wine list full of Italian gems. Have been there at least 7 times and have never been disappointed. Well done Da Noi!

Last minute booking for four and we arrived to our crisp white table cloth and linen napkins. Tap or bottled water was brought to the table with drinks list. We chose a glass of red and a bottle of proseco. Some focaccia to share while we looked at the menu.
We chose the antipasto de mare and tuna tartare as entrees and more bread was brought to the table. Our mains were quail, squid ink pasta with crayfish, mozzarella ravioli , snapper with vegetables.
For dessert we all chose the chocolate fondant with Chilli.

Awesome delicious sourdough - this place seems to know its sourdough. The bread was really fresh and yummy. Had a scoopon for 4 courses inclusive of a wine glass each. The main criticism for the evening would be the slightly tough duck meat for our main. Also our scoopon said we could have suckling pig and to preorder this. I had done so prior and this was all ok. But when we sat down, the waiters didn't confirm with us re the suckling pig. We left it as it is thinking it'll probably come out anyway for the both of us. But we didn't end up getting this suckling pig, so pretty disappointed. The food on the whole were really good though - great flavors that worked well together. Still - would have been great to have given the opportunity to taste some of this suckling pig that was featured in the scoopon deal.

While very expensive, eating here is a really beautiful experience. Everything is fresh, well considered, and perfectly done (and local if I'm not mistaken). Lovely intimate atmosphere with a classic small scale "dining room" feel. For a special occasion this is a good choice.

One of the best restaurants in Melbourne. Places like this are far and few between! 
Simple, beautifully cooked Sicilian food. They use local produce from the owners farm which makes it even more special. 
Always walk away from this place with a full stomach and feeling the love.

What a hidden gem out the far back door! We are super glad we sat out the back next to the gigantic fireplace! It felt like our own little world. Totally different experience from sitting in the front of the restaurant. The waitresses were amazing and so accommodating and friendly. We just ate what the chef cooked and nothing could be faulted. You must tell them what you can and can't eat though. E.g. Offal etc. $270 for 2 with alcohol.

The big insult is that when you arrive with a couple of bottles of red on a Saturday night I was informed that the corkage is $25 per bottle.
A nice night ruined because you know you're just being ripped off.

We went here for Valentine's Day. We had no idea about prices or the menu and it was all a bit hush hush. The service was top notch, the food was great but unfortunately we couldn't pick what we wanted to eat. We were offered champagne when we walked in to later find it was $13 a glass! Good atmosphere but would have liked to chose my own food as I didn't enjoy half of the food because I wouldn't order it.

Authentic Italian at a premium price. Look, it's worth experiencing don't get me wrong, but it IS pricey. Then again, this is a perfect example of "You get what you pay for." The food is fantastic, locally sourced (they have a farm somewhere in Victoria where pretty much all the ingredients are produced) and you can't fault it. Personally, I've been there three times only because the boss was paying.

I had this amazing Gnocchi with a goat ragu last time I was there. It was rich, flavourful and the Gnocchi just melted in my mouth. It looked like a small portion but it was very filling.

The good thing about paying up for such an experience? They know their wine! Most of the wines on the menu were imported bottles of goodness.

If I had a second job, I'd be a regular. If you're looking for a classy dinner experience and are tossing up between Da Noi and France Soir down the road, hands down Da Noi.

Da Noi was wonderful! Great atmosphere, ambience. Loved it! Staff were fantastic. The fact that they knew what they were serving and how it was cooked was a huge plus and a big draw card. The wine was stunning and again the staff knew what they were serving.

One member of our group was GF and every whim was catered for with initiative and motivation inc GF bread. The 'tasting menu'...'degustation' we left in the hands of the waiter and we weren't disappointed. From the eggplant parmigiana, meatballs, salmon & fennel through to the absolutely stunning freshly made pasta and veal ragu which I've never had anything like through to the cherry sorbet and chocolate marquise, we were blown away.

We loved that majority if not all ingredients were locally and seasonally sourced from their property in Yarck & sustainable at that. A huge bonus.

We were very impressed. A must in Melbourne & of course we will return!

A gem. A friend from Adelaide and I went for dinner and loved the truffle pasta ( an optional and expensive extra). But the fish and other small courses were delicious, very good staff. You feel like you are eating so well on local food. Pricy but worth it.

Had dinner with friends here recently and was blown away by the service and delicious food with wine to match. Our waitperson kindly ordered from the menu for us, and we were all impressed with the flavours and presentation. Cost of the meal came to $150 per head, so for my budget it was a bit pricey. Small portions but bursting with flavour. Nice to try Sardinian (not Sicilian or SARDIAN!!!) food in a lovely setting.

One of the best pasta we have in Melbourne. Very low key restaurant but we were impressed with the main. The entree were tasty too. Love their idea of using seasonal food and have their own farm to produce their meat. We were lucky to encounter a few truffle dishes due to the seasons. I have to say they are generous with their truffle serving. I can still taste the truffle lingering in my mouth after i finished my dinner. The dessert however are a little let down due to too sugary to my liking. However the overall experience is still very pleasant. Not to mention the waitress was very friendly and attentive too!

Well, I wasn't disappointed. Deja vu hit me big time as more and more of us came into a specially booked room that Pietro was kind enough to set aside for us. It was located at the rear of the restaurant with it's own spit fire. As I walked in I could see a suckling pig slowly being roasted over the open fire. Wow, what a visual greeting!

Da Enoi in South Yarra is intimate high-end dining. The dining room is small and white with restrained flourishes of tasteful art and cheery yellow light shades. The menu arrives as a handwritten piece of paper on a glass clipboard. Not that you’ll need to read it; the staff are extremely proficient in reciting the menu for the day. If you’re here for lunch, you can take advantage of the $35 special (two courses and a glass of wine). While you can’t strictly order off the ala carte menu for this, the waiter was incredibly flexible with our order and organised a few swap-arounds to suit our tastes.

Food looks amazing but doesn't deliver on taste.. Is it just me or when you go to an Italian restaurant wouldn't it be nice to have a few known Aussie wines on the list too. Otherwise it's all guesswork and taking the recommendation of the waitress.

Sheer Dining Pleasure - A meal to be experienced. This is the best Italian restaurant I've ever been to in Melbourne. Da Noi offers fine Sardinian cuisine in authentic and unpretentious hole-in-the-wall romantic surrounds. This is the place where you bring visitors from interstate and overseas. I have seen Nigella Lawson and Charles Saachi there when they were still together and visiting Melbourne for the Food and Wine Festival in 2011. They were equally enthused. The service is amazing and the kitchen views give an air of intimacy and allow the chefs to convey their pride.

Authentic Italian Cuisine. Da Noi is my favourite restaurant.
Such a romantic feel, and the food is beyond amazing.

Pietro Porcu & Team do an amazing job.

Proper Italian. If you live in Melbourne or are visiting and want to experience rustic Italian food the way its meant to be eating than don't waste anymore time looking. Da Noi is quite simply, in my opinion, the best Italian food you will eat. No fancy stuff here, it's a small unassuming venue, so don't expect 6 star service or decor - the 6 star is reserved for the food they serve up and a daily basis. For the lovers of amazing peasant food do yourself a favour and book a table.

I organised my 30th birthday dinner at Da Noi. The food was absolutely amazing, the service was perfect - they were all so kind and patient as we arrived a little late and were the last to leave and they never complained or made us feel like we had to rush. The atmosphere there is really warm and cosy, very European. The food is authentic and high quality Italian. They have good wines too. The price is reasonable. Strongly recommend! Perfect for a romantic dinner too.

A favorite,,,,but. Da Noi is an institution. Unique spaces. Most memorable meal was the Saturday night at the start of the gas crisis ( a few years ago now). The amazing thing was Pietro cooked for the whole restaurant on the open fireplace, just near the kitchen. Have been back over the years. At a recent visit it was interesting to see how the food has evolved, from years past where rustic dishes and recipes were the attraction to a more sophisticated offerings now.
Not cheap, but worth it. Still a favourite.
