On the banks of the Yarra, Breslin bar and grill is one of the popular restaurants along the Southbank strip. With great views and a friendly atmosphere, there are far worse places to dine. It's quite a large space and it gets busy at weekends and during peak tourist times, but we've always had excellent service.
Our latest visit was for some nice drinks and a few share plates which were all fabulous... tasty and delicious. The menu is quite varied, and we enjoyed our dishes. It's not too loud, so it's lovely for a date night, especially if you get one of the coveted tables with a view. They also do brunch and lunch, and it's a nice place for an afternoon drink. We definitely enjoy our time here each time we visit.
We stumbled on this place to sit and have a drink on the yarra and ended up ordering food after seeing the customers next to us!
Portions are generous and the burger was cooked to perfection! Everything was what you would expect from a good quality restaurant and the pricing was reasonable.
The staff were extremely accommodating and attentive. Decor is lovely too.

The walk from Spencer Street, along the promenade in front of the Crown Casino and heading towards Princes Bridge, you are faced with a glut of choices on where to eat. Italian, Japanese, fast food, fine dining and so much more.
Today a dear friend from interstate and something of a ‘dining out virgin’ chose Breslin because it didn’t have live music (we needed to talk and catch up on 18 months of family life) plus the menu was simple to decipher.
We propped ourselves at a table for two on the promenade side instead of heading indoors which was enormous with enough tables to easily seat 100 guests. The weather was mild for winter, the only upside of climate change (unfortunately) and so it was comfortable outdoor weather even when it started to rain later in the afternoon.
The $25 lunch special had a number of main course choices which included a glass of house wine/beer/soft drink.
I had the lamb shanks, Janet had the burger - oh la la what delicious food and the perfect portion size. The chips with the burger where delicately cooked and not over salted. The burger once cut in half, easy to eat one bite at a time. The shank meat fell off the bone and the sweet sauce was ‘finger licking good’.
Next came a bottle of bubbles 🥂 to celebrate our reunion and the wine list was extensive. We chose a Seppelts The Drive non vintage Chardonnay. Just what the doctor ordered.
But that’s not all. We were tempted with dessert so I ordered the lemongrass creme brûlée and Janet the chocolate mud cake.
As the rain came down slightly dampening our table, we were joined by a friend and continued our reunion with a lot of laughter, great stories and all in a beautiful Yarra River view setting at Southbank.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Notes: recommend you make a booking for those busy periods of Friday and Saturday night as it does get busy, suitable for vegetarians or those with dietaries, restaurant is wheelchair friendly, kid friendly, and the parking is reasonable if along St Kilda Road or at a number of the undercover parking services.
Well worth a visit and I’m looking forward to working my way along the promenade and trying more of these interesting restaurants.

Had lunch with a few friends here. My partner and I ordered the Wellington beef and pork ribs. Wellington beef was amazing! Very tender. Ribs were pretty good as well. Loved the chips. Very crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Definitely recommend this place.
This place is in a great location just by the Yarra. It is good place to go for a quick bite during lunch or a few drinks with colleagues after work. They offer lunch deals. They offer a good range of food including Italian, burgers and steaks.
Staff is friendly and service is outstanding.
The food was delicious, well seasoned and palatable. Presentation of the food was great. Every bite left a rich taste in my mouth.

Great place! Came with my partner and ordered the Beef Burger, Beef Tartare and Prawn and Clams Sphagettini and it was wonderful to the point I was full I couldn’t finish the fries! The one feedback I would like to say is that we did not feel comfortable using the cloths they provided us for cleaning and wiping as they did not look or feel hygienic at all. A replacement for white napkins or cloths would be better.
Came here for a work lunch so there was around 25 people, we ordered in advance so there was no delay on the food. Ordered the Lamb Shank for myself which was $25 including a drink, was very happy with the portion size of my meal and the meat was cooked to perfection and fell apart from the bone. Everybody else was happy with their meal (pasta, burger, chicken), only thing their parmas presentation was not expected (a chicken schnitzel with dollops of tomato sauce and cheese) however it tasted fine. No complaints about the atmosphere and service, happy with everything and would definitely come back for lunch.

After walking around abit we settled on this place to try.... great location especially getting a table looking out... friendly service good selection on the menu.

Wagyu beef mini sliders- very yum soft bun and decent size meat pattie filling and it was served hot
Chicken skewers-tender chicken with a chilli bite
Chargrilled prawns-was ok
Beetroot risotto-was very nice

Awesome every time, calamari is quality, ribs were delicious and everything I’ve tried has been on point! Steaks and meat platter look amazing (if you’ve got the coin)
We decided at the last minute to go here and we are glad we did. We both had the chicken burger with thick chips. Very tasty, it was fresh and hot which is key. The sauce in the burger was yum!
I had never thought to go to Breslin before, but it is certainly worth a shot, especially for their share plates. 5 share plates for $69 means you can try a range of dishes. Favourite dishes were the pork belly and sliders. Dish that needed a bit more work was the calamari. It would be the only dish I wouldn’t order again.
Had a lunch special on a weekday here and the meals were so generous for the price paid. My prawn pasta could have used a bit more flavour but overall great place for a nice lunch with really nice atmosphere and good service
We just had our Christmas party here at the end of last year. The food was really yummy. The calamari starter was perfectly cooked and a decent serve. The slow cooked ribs were the standout though. Perfectly tender and full of flavour! The chocolate cake was moist and rich and delicious!
Where to begin...
The location is just spectacular, sitting at those lovely picnic style tables in the sunshine with my cocktail already had me is great spirits.
There is nothing worse than paying for a crappy cocktail, especially being they are so damn pricey in Melbourne and these did not disappoint.
The food selection was great and we chose a couple of nibble type things to share but if want something where you literally are still thinking about it hours later, you have to try the crab tacos...un freaking believable, so much so we ordered a second serve.
Our first server was not so great and did that annoying thing where they start clearing plates whilst the other person is eating and had zero personality...but then a second server started her shift and she was spectacular, very engaging and switched on.
Great venue, can’t wait to go back again.
We had the hot meat board which was really nice and Smokey, you could taste the bbq char and there was a decent amount of meat, we then had the ChateauBriand (medium) which was absolutely delicious! Would recommend to get that between two and we also had a side of burnt carrots with goats curd. Service was impeccable, staff were so nice, helpful and professional. Espresso martini to end the night and it was the best one we’ve ever had (we’ve had quite a few around Melbourne) so far
Came here for dinner on our last night in town. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Food was served in a timely manner and it was fresh and tasty. I had some really good chicken skewers for entree. Nice and smokey. Also had a nice wine selection. Always nice to be looking out onto the Yarra as well...

"Meating is the best form of eating", and let me recommend Breslin as your regular "meating" place in CBD from now on.
.... did I mention I love their long opening hour too? From 12 to 12 every day so no matter how late I hang out in CBD I can always get my beef & beer!
Can't really fault any of their main dishes neither - the tender and juicy Beef Wellington is definitely a hit. I was sharing duck, calamari and pork belly with other fellow foodies and quite satisfied with them (Like I say, great "meat"!). The hot meat plate surely come with great value too!
OMG meat platter for 2 at a reasonable price and the quality of Ribs unbelievable .Have to try there signature onion rings .Busy night there tonight walked in with no booking but still had the gold service .Views of the bank and city .Service and atmosphere thumbs up .
Another outstanding experience at Breslin. The staff is very accommodating and very friendly. I had the Osso Bucco with Beef Shin Ragout & Gremolata and my partner had the Porterhouse with Onion Rings, Salad, and Red Wine Jus. My dish was Fantastic! Very filling and meat falling apart and the Gremolata complimented the dish perfectly!. 10/10 for mine! My Partners Steak was a done Med Well when asked for Med Rare, the Salad was not much of a salad either. Other than those negatives everything else was amazing. The Red Wine Jus wasnt too sweet and the Onion Rings were something to talk about! 2nd time being here and still hasn't disappointed!

The staff at Breslin were extremely accomodating and I cannot fault their immaculate service. My group and I ordered the Chicken Burger, the Wagu Burger, Beef and Stout Pie, Pork Belly, Chargrilled Scotch Fillet and the Chargrilled Rib Eye. The burgers here were awesome, they were the best I've ever tried, the meat was cooked perfectly in both burgers and the relish on the chicken burger was Devine. The Beef and stout pie was amazing, it was the best meal of the night, it was perfect for a cold Melbourne night. The Char Grilled Scotch Fillet was was cooked beautifully well worth the price. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and had beautiful flavours. The only let down was the chargrilled rib eye which unfortunately had a lot of sineu which if you are paying $50 for a meal it isn't really what you expect. We then ordered the sticky date pudding and the spiced apple crumble, both of which were good, but nothing amazing. We found the cake/sponge of the sticky date pudding to be too airy instead of a dense base like we are used to, we also missed the sticky dates. However, I did see the table beside me order the new York Cheesecake and that looks delicious. Overall though, the experience here was outstanding and I highly suggest this restaurant!
I love trying the restaurants on the South Bank because they always come with great views! For starter we got the charcuterie board, it was very plentiful and the cured meats were lovely. For mains, I got the 300gram wagyu rump steak and my partner ordered the 300gram scotch fillet steak. They were both delicious! The only negative was; the cheese on the charcuterie board was cold and cheese should always be served at room temperature. Other than that, we would be happy to go back.
My partner and I went to southbank for lunch and found this restaurant. They had a special deal for lunch. I had the lamb shank and my partner had the steak. And the dessert was great too ! I loved the peanut butter icecream.

Been walking around for hours trying to find a place that does Caesar salad which you can't even call a salad cause its that amazing! Found this little gem and boy let me tell you! Mojito that they made me hit the spot perfectly and this beautiful Caesar salad had me at wow! Amazing service and such a good atmosphere as well
Absolutely enjoyed the eye fillet. Service was good and I left a tip for good service. Definitely will go back there again for some steak which was smokey and so tender!
Decided to try this place for a group work lunch. We were all really impressed and are already planning our next visit. Some of us tried the $25 lunch special comprising a main meal with wine, beer or soft drink. I had the porterhouse fillet with cabbage , fat chips and red wine jus. It was super tasty. Other big hits were the lamb shanks and calamari salad. The normal menu was also quite extensive and service was excellent....and big big bonus points for letting us split the bill!! Can't wait to go back!
The Pork Ribs were absolutely sensational. Starting with the pork, you could literally pull each rib off the rack. The tenderness and softness of the meat was undeniably delicious, and simply just melted in your mouth with each bite. With a good pork flavour throughout, I made my way through the pork ribs rather quickly.
The meats here were simply amazing, and I would say it’s some of the best ribs I’ve ever had, Melbourne or otherwise. The tenderness, juiciness and flavour were flawless and I’d happily devour more of those again.
Other items though were shockingly bad, and honestly they really aren’t worth your time, or your calories in that matter.
Lovely place to go for a good steak dinner, nice views down by the river and steak cooked absolutely perfect! Staff were very friendly and helpful and would recommend here for a nice big steak.
Details: genuinely enjoyed one of the nicest steaks I ever have had last night at the Breslin! It was so juicy it melted in my mouth. Get the red wine sauce with it as well with a bottle of red like we did! Worth the money! The onion rings were so tasty as well, especially dipped in the red wine sauce.
Service: for an expensive restaurant I was definitely expecting more. It was very hard for us to get any of the waiters attention.
Decor: Beautiful set up! I love being on South Bank. Lovely views of the city and the inside is nice and classy.

My steak was cooked to absolute perfection! It was melt in your mouth and everything else we ordered was delicious as well. Service was a little scarce though that would be the only downfall.
Bar service was good; drinks were ordered that were not on the menu and were able to be made without question. The service was good with Waitstaff that were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere of the bar and grill was comfortable and lively. Great for people watching at Southbank.
Went for lunch and $25 for an express lunch Mon - Fri was reasonable I thought and includes a drink. I had the burger, was ok but not much taste, have had better and my friend had the lamb shank which he did enjoy. The staff were great, attentive and even though it was busy the service was great. Only issue as with many restaurants the music was a little loud for conversation as the speaker was directly behind us and there was concrete drilling next to the restaurant which is not their fault but it was a noisy place. Will go back again and order something different.
Have eaten here twice now, the food is beautiful and didn't have to wait long. The service was fantastic, very friendly staff. Will be coming back again.

Dinner with wife and kids for pre father's day turned into a meatlovers delight. Saturday is busy but staff did well to fit in at late notice. ALL HAIL THE MEAT PLATTER. Something for all. Even wife whom normally eats green had a feast. Now for some detox. Fish for rest of week.
Definitely one of the least over-priced restaurants on the water front, especially for the quality of the food. Despite having to wait 20 minutes for a seat (our fault as we hadn't booked a table), the service was prompt and welcoming. Very friendly and responsive staff who were more than accommodating, something that is often missing in our home town of Ballarat. Ribs were excellent, the beef fell off the bone, and the coleslaw it was served with was a perfect match. The prawn pasta was incredible, a tad on the spicy side so wouldn't recommend it to someone who doesn't eat hot food. The beef burger with truffle aioli was also great! Overall it was a lovely experience, and even with a few drinks we spent on average just under $50 per person. Thank you to the hard working staff at Breslin for our genuinely lovely experience here.
I really enjoy this place and have dined here on a few occasions. The staff are attentive, friendly and most importantly happy. The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful the ribs are MOUTHWATERING. What I particularly like about this restaurant is the price points. The restaurant décor is of the high standard it is a night out dining experience restaurant so the expectation is that it would be very expensive but if you really do not want to break the budget you can order delicious burger alternatives for a more affordable price. I will bring the kids to this place as it can be affordable to do so. I like the drink specials and have ordered jugs of vodka mixes at very good prices if you dine early. If you are a meat eater this is the place to go highly recommended!
Very relaxed atmosphere, ideal for a Friday night. I tried the shared meat platter which had a great variety of meats, and savoury flavours which are best complimented with a glass of red.
One of our working day lunch regulars...try the steak sandwich, salmon or the lamb shanks. Not overly large meals, but just enough to not leave you hungry.
Our first time at Breslin tonight couldn't have been a better experience. We arrived at 7pm without a booking and were seated immediately and although very busy the service was first class. Tim our waiter was very personable and attentive. The Paella was the best we have had (Europe inc) and would come back over from Perth to visit here again ! Well done guys !! 10/10
Walked in after a stroll along Southbank feeling rather hungry and a tad cold. We were seated outside but quite close to the indoor section with heaters on the wall, the breeze made my friends cold but I was fine. Friendly service but didn't see waiters very often, very busy. I had the pork ribs which were delicious but nothing special. One friend had a lamb burger which she loved while my other friend had the eye fillet which she was not happy with, very chewy. Overall I can't complain.
Came here for a working lunch, we ordered salmon and lamb shank from the $25 lunch menu. The shank was well cooked and fell off the bones, the jus was in abundance and flavoursome, mashed potato was smooth. Loved the dish. Salmon was a bit overdone and skin not so crispy. Kipfler potatoes tasted great though. I felt the portions were a bit small. Overall a decent experience.

This restaurant lives up to what you would expect in the prime riverfront location at Southbank. Travelling with two small children in a large pram, it can be challenging to find a quality establishment able to accommodate. As with all restaurants in this precinct, it is not cheap, but the food is excellent quality.
Love the lunch specials where for 25 you get a beer and meal. In particular the beef ribs are to die for! Only complaint is that the portions seem to have gotten smaller over the last year.
I came here with my my Parent's and Boyfriend a few weeks ago for late lunch. We walked past Breslin's and was intrigued but its vibrant atmosphere! We were treated like royalty! The service was impeccable, the manager was actually walking around making sure that all of his guests were attend to. I was impressed from the get go. We ordered beef wellington, lamb shank pie, duck and chicken salad. The food was so fresh, and came in sized portions that huge. For what you pay, you absolutely get your moneys worth!
A fantastic spot for a quick bite or a relaxed drink and people watching. Decked out like any other pub/bar with some pretty versatile, mainly meat focussed options. We got two beef burgers and quite enjoyed them.

We had the eye fillet and the pasta with prawns. Food was good and the meat was really tender. However we had to wait a bit too long and I asked for a medium rare but i got a medium.
We found this place when our friends came into town from Northern Cali. We walked around the corner from our place and started walking and asked them what looked good. They chose this place. It was a scrumptious lunch. Beautiful weather and great company from back home added to the AMAZING slow roasted, fall off the bone, cut with a spoon meat. The chunk of meat made life so much better that day!

Came for a late lunch/early dinner. Place was packed on a Friday long weekend. Had the cold meat board, rocket salad, bruschetta and fries. Good selection on the menu which lead to a tough choice. Good atmosphere and good food.
We come here for a Friday night dinner after work and we were really happy with the service,quality of food and atmosphere.
We were seated inside as there was no space left outside but were politely asked if inside was ok.
We had mini burgers,flash fried calamari and Argentinian chicken wings for starters that came with garlic aioli and a hotter style tomato based sauce,everything was cooked beautifully and was very flavoursome.
For main my wife had barramundi and I had Salmon which was really nice with mash underneath and a grilled vegetable salsa that included capcicum,onion,green olives and something else I can't remember.
Our waiter was very attentitive and the food was really nice..
Would definitely come back and try some of thd other nicd dishes on the menu...
Came here for an early dinner on Friday night. Happy hour from 3-7 with $5 basics, $6 wines and $7 pints which is really great! Decided on the selection plate of 3. Had the mini beef burgers, croquettes and calamari. Servings were small for the price but good quality food. Fries are really good! Staff were attentive and very friendly. Beautiful view of the Yarra!
Went here for dinner last night...service was good with just some minor things that could be better...like knowing what comes out with meals as a couple of things order came slightly different to what was explained...but this was minor in the scheme of things...just would have helped with my order had I known some things...food was nice & the calamari is definitely recommended...as with the Chorizo Croquettes & Peri Peri Chicken skewers...overall a pleasant evening.
The $25 lunch menu has always been a favourite for us. Offering an extensive range of hearty, meaty and downright tasty New York fare, it never fails to please. Plus it all comes with a cold beer/wine/soft drink to down the meal. 200g Scotch Fillet served with mash potato and red wine jus ($25 lunch menu) The steak here is always beautifully done. While not the dish to go for if you’re starving, it’s almost 75% as good as Rockpool, but at 25% of the price. Lamb Shank Pie covered in puff pastry and served with creamy mash potato($25 lunch menu) Hot and hearty, this dish is perfect for a cold wint
Nice one!. Had a nice meal at Breslins, some Tapas, beef well's and ribs all of which was good. The staff were fantastic, and were always available but not in that stick their nose in every minute Rockpool way. They got a drink order wrong, but replaced it in 10 seconds, no fuss no muss. Good work Breslins!
Great way to get your meat fix. Meat is the focus but has other options too. Food is consistently prepared at a high standard. Burgers and steaks are great. While not one of the most expensive steakhouses, they do charge a little more than the average. Inside and outside options overlooking southbank make for a great catch up spot.
A BIG thumbs up from me!. I've been here twice already and both time I have quite enjoyed myself the food is Ah-mazing and the service was awesome both timed both the waitress did an excellent job. The restaurant is located alongside the river with a few other restaurants and I never really noticed until recently and it's now one of my favourite's restaurants along Southbank with happy hour of Fridays & all day happy hour Sunday. I had the twice cooked duck leg my first time & my second time I had the lamb shank pie and both were super delish! I can't wait to go again to try out other things on their menu.
My favourite place in town. This is it, this is "MY" place. I love the location, the look and feel inside, the staff, everything I've tried here has been fantastic. Overall there isn't anything I can really find fault in here. I absolutely love Breslin and have enjoyed eating here each time I've been there.
When I visit any other places for steaks I compare it to Breslin, after dinner I'll ask myself the question "If I was going for steaks next time I'm out, would I go here or Breslin?" So far the answer has been Breslin each and every time.
