This place is the greatest place in the world. The staff is friendly and personable. Plus, they have an incredible selection of beer. ��� I recommend this place to everyone.
Awesome place! Had some kitchen drama so there were issues with our food but the staff were so lovely and shouted us some free food, which for a massive group of 16 was exceptionally kind. Would recommend :) food was awesome once it came and staff are fantastic.

Highly recommend Belgian Beer Cafe for a group function. Last week they hosted a drinks and finger-food function for over 100 guests in their large elegant dining room upstairs. The ambience, service, food and attention to detail were superb. From the moment I met with their Function Manager, I knew the event would run smoothly. He anticipated every question and followed up regularly. Very professional. The venue was perfect with room for guests to sit together or mingle in the main area. They even arranged a private section where guests could choose to stay for dinner - which was excellent too. We all loved the Belgian Beer Cafe!!
Terrific service from EJ, we are visiting Melbourne he was chatty and helped us out with ideas, informed us with some history of Melbourne and even printed off a map of a recommendation of where to go in evening �

Serving sizes here are generous, with a great atmosphere to boot. Our table got the pork to share which was quite nice, and I got the fish and chips for myself which were similarly quite nice.
Excellent experience super delicious food. There were 9 of us and we ordered a whole lot of food including two mussel pots and it was surprisingly good. Both quality and quantity-wise. I actually don’t think you can go wrong in this place. Will visit again.
The name says it all. Good place for Belgian beer. Have been here a couple of times and the vibes always great. Quiet on weekdays so you can chill out with a cold one.
My experience here was great. The service was perfect, the mussels were good. And when I called to book and explained that I want to eat the mussels they made sure there were left for me.
If you love your beers this is the place and has everything on tap or bottle. Also other beverages. Delicious food and very friendly and attentive service.

I come to this place for one beer, I end up drinking 5 different, all delicious. The not extremly oriented in plant based food, but they did take an effort! I will highly reccomend for the varaiety of beers!
Attended a birthday here a while back. The restaurant catered for a large group of us upstairs. Enjoyed the food, in particular the different flavours of mussels. Accommodating and good service.
Excellent service, beautiful Belgium beer. We ordered the pork hock and mussels in white wine sauce. The pork hock was cooked beautifully, nice crunchy skin and soft and moist meat. Mussels were done a tad over though, just a tad. Kids friendly as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed the BBQ share platter! It was quite a generous serving size which we ordered as a mains for 2. Not usually a fan of mussels but these ones were great! Really loved the croquettes rather than the usual bowl of chips other places serve with similar menus. Only fault I could find was there was quite a lot of bread in the centre which we didn’t finish....would’ve been great with a handful of sliced meat to accompany the relish that came with it. Great staff and service!
Living literally five metres away from here for several years meant many a free drink in this venue. They actually do a very reasonably priced pimms jug and the food is much improved over the years to the point where I will happily have a meal there. Pub style dishes but they also do a pretty delicious cheeseboard and some very tasty grazing items. Try the cheesy garlic bread and the cheese croquettes (can you tell I love cheese). It always has a warm and friendly vibe with plenty of locals lazing about and the staff (right down to the bouncers) are lovely
Great little bar with an outstanding selection of beers from around the world. Food is quite scrumptious as well! Highly recommend trying Earl Pear by Merchant Brewing Co.

Came here for a quick weekday work lunch. Got the lunch menu which was great. The schnitzel was delicious and crispy. The chips were good too. Nothing too flash but a good filling feed.

I love Belgian beer and my favourite is Hoegaarden. The food here is cooked so well. The beer battered onion rings, beer battered fish and chips, white wine mussels .. all so fresh and delicious! I'm usually not a fan of mussels but I finished the whole pot!! The yellow lighting in the cafe creates an cosy and intimate dining experience with attentive staff. There are lunch specials and dinner specials on week days, which is really good value. Highly recommend this place
When we reach there, it was 9+ and the kitchen already closed for main, so we could only ordered sides, so we decided to order chips and wings, the chips was okay but the mayo was super weird, it has a fishy smell and taste like saltwater, anyway the wings, none of my friend like it but surprisingly i did, it was a bit bland but i love the black paper rub on it to give an extra crunch. The beer was okay tho, however the place was so loud, we could hardly talk even tho we sat near to each other, i think they should lower down the volume a bit. Service was good.
Always been my go-to place when I crave for fresh yet tasty mussels and mayo frites. It is ideally located in the heary of Southbank cafe strips, which means pretty sights when dining in.
The Belgian Beer Cafe is an old favourite of mine. We stopped in last night for a snack while on the way home and were not disappointed. We enjoyed a beetroot risotto and a side of fries. Not quite sure what happened to the risotto because instead of beetroot I think we got pumpkin, regardless it was delicious and cheesy. Both portions were very generous and prepared in record time. The selection of beer and drinks are very impressive with all unique customs around serving beer strictly adhered to.
This is my favourite place in Southbank! The menu is not to expensive with a wide range of options and the food is beautiful. I'm a huge beer fan, with the wide range of beers on tap to choose from. Belgian beer cafe is a fun place to go for a good drinking session and bite on a lazy day, if it's sunny or not.
Spent New Years Eve here and was pleasantly surprised. Cover charge aside, the drinks were amazingly varied and the bar staff were very friendly.
The food was pretty good and came in quick time for a post 10pm rush and on an obviously busy night. The bruschetta was really tasty and the Chicken Parma was huge as well as fresh and delicious...
The band was a bit cheesy but all in good fun. Would recommend coming back anytime on a hot night for a relaxing ale and a Parma.....

Had the steak sandwich on the express lunch menu. Nice size and great tasting sandwich. The chips came out barely warm to my disappointment which would have gone well together. Overall a positive experience.
I had a lunch here last week with colleagues as it was near our workplace. I ordered one of the $15 express lunch items- the veal schnitzel. Most of my colleagues had the parma; both the veal and chicken. Another had the calamari. For someone who usually avoids eating schnitzels, I surprisingly enjoyed my meal, especially for the money I paid for it. The service was a little bit slow but the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The only downside was that the $15 express lunch options were quite limited.
My favorite Friday night drinks spot. Great selection of international and Australian craft beers on tap. Food is always reliably and tasty, staff are friendly and accommodating.

The beer range is large and covers a lot of foreign beers, you can even get a testing tray which comes with 5 small glasses of different beers you want to try for decent price.
The food is really nice here too, as a group we ordered oysters mornay as an appetiser which was a good start, we then got the shares player which had muscles, croquets, pulled pork sliders, chicken drumettes, roasted potatoes, olives, breads and dips. This large platter was amazing value for under $50 and we shared it amongst 4 people. The muscles and the pork were amazing. To finish we each had a affogato which was a settle the palette.
I love this place. Good beers. Yummy food. Awesome staff. Highly recommended. Wide range of beers to choose from. I've tried the mussels, meet plank and desserts. Can't fault any of them.
Fantastic service! Went in for lunch on Sunday and was child friendly too. My toddler enjoyed just running around and the staff made sure she had a good time too! The mussels are a must try and the pulled pork sliders too. Will definitely be back!
The mussel pots here are divine!!!! We ordered the roquefort and mariniere, I found the latter to be outstanding. The blue cheese was almost as good but it was a bit too much for me. My friends had ordered the special pasta of the day which was lobster ravioli, for its price there wasn't much pasta at all which was disappointing for them but they said it was tasty which is the positive note.
Good service, helpfull and attractive staff. The food was above the average. The sausages and stoemp was great other meals looked no so nice but all the group enjoyed the meal. Best thing was the huge range of beers available. I was spoiled for choice on the beer menu. Orval and and the Kwak were two beers i have not seen outside of europe and they were as good as i can remember. Only let down was the glasses that were still warm or contained dish water.
If you like Belgian beer, this is your spot. They have a large selection of beers with a nice outdoor area. Can't comment on their food as I only tried their chips and mayo which was only average.
If you're a beer person then this is one place you can't miss out on. The amazing tap beers, especially hoegarden and leffe will certainly blow you away! Loved it!

Great Mussels, beer and service. My mates and me ended up spending the whole day Sunday at the Belgian Beer Cafe watching the cricket final, drinking lots of great beers from the amazing selection they have and eating mussels, which were half price because they always have a half-price mussel special on Sundays. I also had a great burger. Loved it! Thanks a lot too to Jane for putting me on to some awesome beers I'd never tried before.
The Belgian Beer Cafe is the perfect pick me up for reliably good food and a spot of alcohol. The large oak doors open to reveal a huge bar boasting over 20 different types of beer to choose from. Before I proceed I do have to urge you all to download their phone application
With yellow lighting and wooden furniture, Belgian Beer Cafe gave me that cosy, relaxed feelings as soon as I entered the restaurant. Not visiting it on a weekend also probably added that extra warmth to the atmosphere; nevertheless, as the night went on
Great Beer!. Had a private work function here. It was great! The beer is awesome, loved the Leffe Brune. Especially loved the professionalism of the staff and serving the beers in the appropriate glasses and coasters. We had nibbles and appetisers, they were delicious and complimented the beer.

Love it. Just went to the Belgium beer cafe on Sunday where I had delicious half price mussels and chips. I think there had been a recent change in ownership and new staff but I can't commend the food or service more highly. The service was fast and the food was faultless. I was with a group of 6 and not one person was disappointed with what they ordered. We definitely will be back soon.
After reading a couple of less than positive reviews, I was a little hesitant but the 82% likes & range on the menu made me think it may be nice for a first date. Upon walking into the restaurant I find only one other table there at 9pm on a Friday & panicked about my choice but the clean, friendly atmosphere quickly put my mind to ease and allowed me the pleasure of enjoying this great venue. Being a beer cafe the beer was perfect and the food was great for the price. All up under a hundred for steak, salmon & a few drinks. The service was amazing, they were patient with us and kept the restaurant open for over an hour after the kitchen closed just for us! Making it like we had our own private dining experience not once hassling us to leave. I would highly recommend it!

Not usually big on eating at pubs but have come here quite a few times for the sunday half price mussels. Good value and quite a nice place to relax on a sunday afternoon. Would recommend for those who love their mussels.
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the BBC. The service and the food were both good, but there's just something missing, hard to put your finger on it. I'd return here if I was in the immediate area, but I wouldn't go out of my way if that makes any sense.
Great beer, okay food, soso service. I visited with scoopon. We had great time with good variety of beers - food was alright - dessert was bit disappointing. service was okay but it was always bit slow.

Good selection of beers, friendly service and the food isn't too bad for a pub. Have had the mussels and the schnitzel and both were pretty good. Prices aren't terrible for alcohol either!
Fun when it's not packed. I've had some good times here and have really enjoyed the food and beer. Definitely a lot of choices and the food leaves you wanting more, due to being delicious and a small serving. If the servings were more generous - that is to say, normal size - then the prices could be accepted happily. Definitely doesn't have a restaurant setting or feel to it that could attribute to the prices either.
Drink prices were once high but as everywhere else has rised, they are now only above average.
Try it if you're in the area.
Classy!. If you don't want the casual crowd of the Beer Garden on St Kilda Rd but love the beer there, this place is just for you.
Same great beer, with a very decent crowd. That's not to say it doesn't get loud (fun loud) most nights!

You Get what you expect.. What do you want when you go to a great Beer Cafe, GREAT food, Beer and company. Super friendly place to visit with friends and colleagues. I highly recommend the Tasting Paddle of Beers, the wait staff contribute to your appreciation of your experience of the fine beer on offer. I will be back soon!
This place is a firm favourites and a regular drop-in spot with friends. A fantastic range of beers and perfectly matched snack foods. You really can't ge past the frites with mayo or the cheese croquettes with a beer or two. If every "beer house" could be like this place I'd be in heaven.
Best beer in town and snacks to match.. Located at the base of Eureka tower, Belgian Beer Cafe hosts some of the best Belgian beers, and food in Melbourne. The bar also features fittings, paint and furnature imported from Belgium. The sound system however is a French made nexo system, but I guess the Belgians have an excuse, they are too busy making some of the greatest beer around. BBC as it is known to the regulars, is a great place to unwind and enjoy brilliant beer and food to match. The staff are friendly and able to recommend a beer for any taste. A top class venue which is well worth a visit!
Bar beer in the heart of south bank. It’s a good plan coming here: first walking in the surroundings of the river side, vibrant colorful area. I walked just a few meters towards the inside of the river quay, to take a picture to that gorgeous building with an art bee honeycomb on the facade, and we found this nice bar. Even though the inside looks a bit like the pokies, it’s a good place to stop and grab a bite. There’s a quite fair tap beer options, but if you want an original Belgium beer, it’s bottled , only an Stella on the tap. I went for the Redhead IPA on tap, and I wasn’t disappointed at all, delicious strong flavors. Prices are fair, friendly staff, good quality food, I had the Belgian steak sandwich. ( I spent $37 in total ). If you prefer outdoors, they have a nice terrace to sit and see people pass. Yes, I want to come back and I recommend you to try this place.

I have been a big fan of the BBC ever since I lived in Dubai, so I was happy to find out that they have a branch here.
I expected to find Kriek lambic, but sadly they didn't have it, so we opted for Leffe Blonde and Leffe Brune.
We also ordered the following food:
- Chefs Victorian Grazing Plate - beef bresaola, cacciatore, char-grilled spicy bratwurst, char-grilled mild weisswurst, maffra stockmans choice cheshire aged cheddar, house marinated mt zero olives, water crackers, and caper berries ($35).
- Fries & Mayonnaise ($10)
We loved the grazing plater but were disappointed with the fries, as there was nothing Belgian about them! They were supposed to be thick-cut, but all we got was the usual thin fries you get at regular places.
Despite that, we keep coming back for the beer and are now a big fan of the Hoegaarden Wheat Beer, as it's generally on a discounted rate.
It's an expensive beer place, but a great experience and friendly, helpful staff.
This is a good place, on Southbank, for drinks and food. It has some nice outdoor tables and good space inside. The foods I have tried have all been great! And of course the range of Belgian beers always hits the spot... Best to make a reservation as it gets really busy at times.
Very delicious food in a nice setting with very friendly people at the restaurant. We had the Pork Knuckle, the 1kg Mussel Pots Roquefort with blue cheese, cream, and spinach sauce, and the Chicken Parmigiana.
The Peel Knuckle skin is very crispy and is large enough for 2 people.
The Chicken Parmigiana is very nice but the fries stole the show being well seasoned and remaining crispy long into the dinner.
The cheese sauce with the mussel pot is just right, tasty without being too overpowering with tender mussels that were cooked just right.
Love Belgian Beer cafe, especially the mussels! Such delicious food and their range of Belgian Beer is extensive.
Being a homebrewer I was excited to try some Belgians. Was a bit disappointed with selection though to be honest - seemed to have a couple of tripples and a couple of wheat beers - one of which is commonly available in supermarkets so in all 3 to try for the conniseur I suppose. Else the usual selection of coopers etc.
I've been to bars in Belgium and didn't really think it was an accurate representation - but I'm being picky here - for most folks it's a nice place - kind of like Hard Rock Cafe but without the music stuff on the walls.
It was probably the time of day I went, but there was an unusual number of single men in their 50's sitting around the place staring at us. Either that or I forgot to take my meds.
Not bad for a quick pint, but not in my top 10.
