Had to pick up a watch in the city, and was wondering through the lane ways and this little place had the most people in it, so decided to grab a quick bite and coffee
I had a double espresso, coffee was flavoursome and not bitter at all, was lovely
Service was pretty good, a little slow
The venue itself is small also, but nice and cosy
The breakfast burger I had was yum, was packed with flavour
Only problem I’d say was a little pricey at $18
Would still go back though!
Menu wasn’t outstanding either from memory
We found ourselves here for lunch on Saturday and it was a lovely find. Good food, charming service and a lovely location. We will certainly be happy to return. I would especially recommend the calamari, cooked perfectly, and the chicken and mushroom risotto was delicious. And they make good coffee too.
Really great coffee and efficient service. We had a chili eggs and an avocado with pea dish and they were both good solid cafe fare. I would go back.
Great coffee, great service and a broad flavoursome menu that goes well beyond the standard eggs and bacon. Our food was fresh and well presented. Well worth a visit.
Enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch for a family member at Café Segovia. Attentive and friendly staff who went out of their way to help us celebrate. Nice atmosphere and great food.
Cafe Segovia is a classic foodie destination that captures Melbourne arcade and cafe culture to a "T".
I have been coming here since uni days and never fails to impress..
After an amazing birthday celebration last night, we thought Cafe Segovia would be the best place to start a very slow and relaxing day! Starting with Bloody Mary's with Cajun Spice followed by amaxing Green eggs and ham, I had 12 hour pulled pork with perfectly poached eggs!!
Put this one on the list!
Came in for quick coffee and cake but the waiter doesn't have much knowledge of what they have....he said we have carrot cake and later returned and said they actually didn't... anyways customer service was still ok...
We were looking for a quaint cafe for breakfast and this was it. The food is delicious and you get generous portions, combos are tasty and creative. One which stood out was prosciutto with butternut and poached egg on brioche. Not sure what it was on the menu but it was such a nice balance of flavor. The mango madness smoothie was also a favorite. Service was top notch and atmosphere was peaceful.
This is wonderful place given harsh reviews.
We had a really delicious breakfast, where all four of us ordered something different, and none of us were disappointed. Polite service and a convenient location make cafe Segovia a gem among touristy cafes.
Stopped in for lunch after checking out the menu, which is varied enough that we could both find something. I had a steak sandwich and my partner had a chicken foccacia. A couple of sides of chips and a delightful NZ Sav blanc rounded out the meal. Everything was tasty, the staff were attentive and food arrived quickly. We probably could have shared one side of chips between us as the meals were a decent size. It was a little pricey, but given the location it was probably average for the area. Recommended.
Stopped for a bite to eat in this laneway cafe. I had the chicken foccacia which was presented as per photo and my partner had a steak sandwich. We accompanied these with a side serve of chips which were quite expensive. We had a nice glass of white wine and the overall experience was pleasant if a bit expensive.
Did not have high expectations for our impromptu breakfast here but was pleasantly surprised. I decided on the porridge with poached pear, berries and yogurt, needing something fortifying and warm on a cold morning. It came with a dusting of cinnamon which complemented the dish well, although the oatmeal itself was a tad too thick and stodgy. The pears could also come in more generous a portion. The scrambled eggs however were fantastic - buttery, sunny folds of goodness that were cooked to near perfection - would return for a big plate of this!
Had the vegeterian breakfast and two skinny lattes. The fod arrived quickly, although it was fresh and tasty I felt that bigger portions of the avocado and spinach would have been good. There was no wow factor but a good meal overall. Relish tasted like it was poured out of a can. Coffee was great as well.
My favourite in Block Place for breakfast, smashed avocado is superb, great coffee, great service, great atmosphere, can't wait til next visit 😄
What a great little cafe. The food was stunning. I have a very tasty Chicken Risotto & a lovely class of wine. The cafe to the side of us had a guy playing guitar & singing some old songs, which added to the atmosphere. Made us feel like we were in Europe dinning in some little lane somewhere. Good service as well. Can't wait to go back again.
We had a pleasant dinner accompanied by live music from the lane. The calamari with pear and rocket was very nice. Would have liked more pear - it was delicious and the rocket was good. For mains I had the gnocchi. I've had better. And the cheese in it (I think) stuck to the roof of my mouth. Dessert was toblerone cheesecake. This was served with ice cream and was very rich. Couldn't eat it all - but it was good.
Have been there 4 to 5 times and love the feels of the place. The staff is extremely friendly and the Penne polo is to die for, so is a pizza that was on the specials, I can not recall the name but it had spinach, pumpkins, feta and pine nuts. The flavours blended so well together. Also, their fresh orange juice is one of the best I've ever had!
Popped in here for a coffee one afternoon. The coffee was well made, the staff were nice and service was efficient. Their menu looked like it had some good options, will be back to try their food another time!
A great place for breakfast. Coffee and service is excellent. Porridge is the best pick. Good atmosphere. You won't be disappointed. Great value.
Decent little cafe in the Block arcade lane. Only been here for breakfast so far but decent enough selection. Good efficient service as well.
Just stumbled across this amazing cafe. Coffee is superb and the staff are so friendly. Had the poached eggs on sourdough and could not fault. Will definitely be my Cafe of choice when I'm in Melbourne.
The sauce was the highlight for me, just packed with flavour, and very fresh tasting!

This time, we picked Cafe Segovia, a cute cafe with lots of European charm, located in the ornate Block Arcade. I really admired the curvy wooden architraves and the faded, gold-tinged mirrors and artwork inside. The Lawyer got the Segovia breakfast, which is like a big breakfast. He really enjoyed his meal, especially the golden pan-fried sausages (proper sausages with proper pork and no gristle and excess fat) and the crispy hash browns. It was simple but the ingredients were good quality, including the chewy country bread. Propz also for the non-greasy nature of the dish.
Delicious fresh juice. Great service. I wish they had beans with the big breakfast!
Great Coffe and Breakfast. I had a great breakfast the other day. I loved the vibe of cafe Segovia, reminded me a little of France !!!
The Avacado dish we ordered for Breaky was yummy and the coffee was perfect. I recommend heading there.
Helen.
Went for breakfast there this morning. Just wanted to say I had the Smashed avocado with poached eggs. It was delicious !!! Coffee was nice.
Salsa Band. I enjoyed a wonderful night at Segovia. It was last Friday night and i was walking past with my wife and we heard a Salsa band playing in one of the arcades. We walked to it and sat outside. The ambience was wonderful, we felt like we were in southern Europe. The service and food at Segovia was great. Highly recommended.
Jerry and Sam.
Quick service. Great food for breakfast excellent staff and service and hot brilliant coffee
Lovely little place!. Really liked this place! Cant understand the bad reviews. Was served by a really sweet waitress who was so attentive, the other staff were nice too. Ordered a calzone which was really tasty and HUGE! Yes the prices are faaaiirly high, but I think still cheap for the location and the food itself. What we really liked was the music! Much more lively than most of the cafes which helped after a long sunday shopping, we didn't feel like we were going to sit there and fall asleep. Cakes looked great too!
Diana. Average coffee not a lot of strength, love the Block Arcade though
Like many reviewers, I'm not sure what makes a bad experience here but right now, on a warm summer evening this place is incredible. My girlfriend and I feel suddenly transported back to Italy, eating delicious, authentic food and enjoying the sounds of an incredible Mediterranean influenced jam band. Maybe the chef of the day and this band need to be a full time deal because this place rocks right now.
One of the best coffees I've had in Melbourne!!
Very nice staff and on our experience ask for Tina to make the coffees :)
Came late on 'White Night' when Melbourne CBD was busier than I've ever seen it. The staff had clearly had a long, stressful day but the service was really impressive. Despite having to run between tables in a packed house, the staff were smiling, helpful and offered suggestions on food and drink. The Pizza Segovia was delicious: traditional thin base and amazing prawns, mussels and chorizo.
I really can't understand the negative reviews, but assuming they keep the current staff we'll definitely be back.
Maybe I went on a good night, but I can't understand the bad reviews about this place!
It was the perfect setting for a Friday night- outdoor tables in a narrow street, a fabulous band playing Latino & Blues tunes, friendly staff & good food!
I enjoyed a lamb & chorizo salad that left me salivating, whilst my friend had the juiciest looking (& tasting steak) I have ever laid eyes on.
Lets hope it equally as good next time- I'll be back!
An old favourite every time we are in Melbourne. Brekky is always good. Live music Fridays a treat. Service is not always the best but staff are friendly and easygoing. Can't always get a table Fridays? The place just next door is just as good and you can still enjoy the lane way tunes! Hope they never change.
Prompt service given the short staff-ing issue's they're facing.
Coffee was PERFECT.
Atmosphere was good.
Food was good (though not as described on menu).
Prices were standard.
Came here for breakfast. Ordered the Smashed Avo, and loved it! It was served with mushrooms, feta cheese, and kale. The coffee was great too!
Very friendly service, and quick.
My partner and I came across this lovely little cafe while searching for some breakfast and have had the most phenomenal experience! The coffee is amazing and very consistent, the waitstaff attentive and kind. We had two different brunch meals - the full English and full vegan breakfasts - and devoured both of them (barely, they were so big!), and it’s definitely worth noting that the service of all food and beverages was exceptionally quick. We’ll be back here again, and soon!
Absolutely humble and beautiful staff, wonderful food, and extremely welcoming environment. After I had a poor experience at another cafe earlier that day it was such a beautiful feeling to be treated like a human rather than a walking wallet. I highly recommend this place 💕
