Best place, great food. And excellent customer service. Thank you Gargi for your very good customer service. Very responsive table service.
Our experience was nothing but fantastic. The share platter we had was amazing, beautifully cooked and so filling. Apple strudel was to die for. The service was exceptional, staff were friendly, helpful and prompt. Will definitely go back with the whole family.
12/10 service from Alicia would highly recommend, excellent food!
Great food , fast friendly service . Ideal place for a meal with friends
Great place, great service, awesome atmosphere and bloody good beer.
We have been to Hof downtown and served by Gargi, she was great! Very friendly and always came to check up on us. We are very happy with Gargi’s service.
Enjoyed my birthday here with the amazing food and wonderful staff that looked after us and a special thanks to Marco the manager for making my night wonderful!!
The food are yummy and the staff are very welcoming and accomodating specially Martin who served and entertain us so well We definitely will go back there and will tell all our friends and families to go and eat there too
My first time at a German restaurant. Wow! Great food, friendly staff. Excellent menu choices. Decent serving sizes. We were not disappointed. We will return again!
Went to do a pick up at Hofbrauhaus yesterday and realised they are only operating pick ups from The Hof Downtown at Docklands due to the current covid-19 situation. Sad to see how they are affected but good to know they still operating via pick ups and deliveries, even though the menu is limited and does not cover my favourite sausage platter. They mentioned that they are giving out free bread with all orders at the moment and I got a full size crusty sourdough loaf that was still warm from the oven. I ordered the cheese kransky and ribs. Haven’t had the ribs yet but the kransky tastes as good as I remember it. I hope their customers continue to support them through this difficult time and I wish them well in pulling through this.
The Hof continues to please as we came here for a beverage or two and some nibbles before the footy on at Marvel stadium. I find the beer here every drinkable and much more interesting that your typical Carlton Draught establishment. Good mix of footy fans and after work Friday drinkers. Food was delivered super fast and is fairly good.

Seems reasonable to have a few drinks with work colleagues as I approach the last 7 work days of a 17year career with the same company. The HOF was the perfect place to do it. Nicely refurbished last year after floods I think but
Good to go now.
They have a range of beers, mostly German or German inspired and their beer of the day was quite good if you want to mix it up. Food is very meat based which is a good thing but there are a couple of vego dishes other than the chips which arrived super hot and quite generously served.
Much better venue in summer when you want to sit outside.
The Hof continues to be in the Entertainment book for 18/19 editions
Plenty more celebrating to come over the next few days.
We came here for a work lunch today and we ordered two big platter with pork knuckle, sausages, chicken, mash potato etc. Got to say that it's the best pork knuckle I have had so far in Melbourne - it's tender, juicy, and has very crispy skin. Nothing beats it with a delicious beer that this place has got to offer! Also, very friendly service and generous offering for zomato gold! Highly recommended!
As being vegetarian, i know not much options but it was a team lunch so yes had to.
Vegetarian burger are really good, though there are many delicious items to try. But if you are vegan/vegetarian go for the vegetarian burger.
I went into The HOF Downtown on a Thursday in the early evening. It is a huge place just 2 minutes walk from Batman’s hill tram stop. The restaurant is huge and packed with people having a beer and having a good time. It is right in the middle of the business district so you will find a lot of office people sitting there.

Amazing place located at the heart of Docklands. Service was perfect (yes it feel like we booked the entire restaurants).
The mojito was very well prepared and good large size.
The signature chicken schnitzel was defiantly 10/10 with a nice side of potato salad.
Pork belly was well cook with amazing plate presentation.
Note bowl of chips is $9 but good large serving ..
My colleague and I popped in to this place for lunch last week and were impressed with the quick service despite the place being packed on a Friday afternoon.
The staff were accommodating of our special schnitzel request and were happy to deviate from what was on the menu. The kransky was delicious, although the dipping mustard was a bit too tangy for my liking.
The dessert was one of their specials for the day and when we dug in, we especially loved the salted caramel sauce on the side and the gingery raspberry on the pannacotta.
Pretty good spot for those work lunches in Docklands!
The apotheosis of German cuisine! Outstanding bretzel schnitzel, fried to perfection, the crisp was a perfect balance of flavor and crunch. The cheeky beef cheeks were delightfully soft and flavorful, bathed in barbeque sauce on a fluffy bed of delicate mashed potatoes brought tears to my eyes. The ambience brought me back to my childhood, minus the beer. Heil HOFler!
Been here a few times at various times of the day and this venue never fails to please. Meals are of great quality, atmosphere is terrific and the service is always amazing and friendly. The vibe is great, but can be quite rowdy on the weekends and evenings, so be prepared for that, especially on evenings when the footy is on. A good range of German beers are available, in serves of up to one litre, as well as plenty of wines to keep everyone satisfied. Enjoy!
Edit: Aug 19:
The lunch specials are no longer available however they are now on Zomato gold. The menu has changed but the food is still of good quality. The snitty today was a good portion and the service was great.
....................................................................................
Good lunch specials. Snitty, mash and salad for under $15.
Full menu is more on the dearer side but good authentic German in Docklands.
Delicious food and drinks with great service. Being vegetarian and finding delicious foods in German bars is difficult but this place offers varieties of vegetarian options that one can enjoy!!
Weissbier + Chilli cheese Kransky!!
I don’t know how many times I have had this flawless combo, but I love it every time!
The good thing about HOF is that it is one of those places where you will always get a place for a Thursday or Friday lunch!
The service is good and normally fast, even on a busy day. Burger is normal and overpriced, and can be avoided, especially when you have such a delicious sausage in option!
A great German restaurant! The Pork Knuckle is the best but it’s better to share with three people because it’s huge! The beer is also good. A nice dinner to remember. Danke !
There are few German style restaurants around the Melb, but this one here, has an excellent range of Bier (which doesn't change all the time), and proper Made in Germany 🇩🇪 recipes, which got a touch of Melbourne style food presentation to even please you more. The restaurant is not located in the best part of the city, but is always busy, and it tells you a lot. I hope you enjoy your Schnitzel or Bratwurst with a pint of real bier 🍺

Huge place with lots of sitting area. Good variety of beers. All dishes were value for money and can’t fault it. Delicious food always. Staff is very polite and friendly. It feels really welcoming and has that German vibe to it.
Lovely german food and beer. Their sausage were really yummy, we tried the platter so we could have a taste of all kind. The chesse sausages were the most tasty. Sauce and pickled cabbage nicely accompany the sausage. The pork croquette was delicious too, very creamy, melted in your month and crunchy outside.
Would love to come back to try more.
The HOF Downtown takes the term authentic right down to the staff who work there. With staff who are German themselves, makes the experience so real especially with the profound knowledge of the cuisine. With a wide array of platters to schnitzels to their famous Pork Knuckle as we as their 1L beer steins. The HOF is a must visit for those who love full flavoured hearty foods.
Offering a more modern take on German cuisine than its traditional brother Hofbrauhaus, The Hof Downtown dishes up just as sizeable portions that are equally delicious and are bound to satisfy.
You really shouldn’t miss out on their giant Platter, which offers patrons a diverse selection German staples, all deliciously unique and offering an amazing experience. While you are devouring the meaty feast though, make sure to pair it with a refreshing and fruity German bier too!
Had an amazing time eating here, though I had a good meal with a massive pork knuckle, my guest didn’t as much with the schnitzel as it wasn’t as juicy. Other than that it was a good night with amazing service.
Came in for farewell drinks with my work crew tonight and was very impressed. Delicious cocktails and fantastic staff who are super friendly and helpful. Try the pomegranate sour! You won't regret it.
Came in before the footy on Friday night and the place was pumping! We didn't have a booking but the manager luckily found us a table within a few minutes. Had a swiss snitzel and pork belly. The meals took a while but was worth the wait. Staff were super friendly and the beers awesome! Boutique German craft style that I've never seen anywhere else. Highly recommended next time you're in the docklands!
We came here for lunch on weekdays. We ordered Chicken schnitzel and bavarian sausages. They taste like the healthy version of pub food and amazing. Our food were served super fast, which is very convenient for our short lunch break. We will definitely come back!
Big, airy, spacious, ideal for large group gatherings, just across the road from Etihad Stadium.
It's a great place to catch a game or for drinks after work.
Food portions are humungous, and excellent to share.
We were just here for a snack, and ended up with The Bavarian Bretzel with dips, oven baked beetroot salad, and some croquettes. All we good to snack on and have a few drinks. We saw plates of large meats being dished out! May come back to try these.
Service was interesting. When we walked in, no one greeted us or asked us to get seated. It was reasonably quiet with only a handful of tables occupied when we entered. We did ask a waitress who seemed to brush us off. Thankfully, the guy in charge saw us standing and deciding if we just grab a seat vs wait be seated and approached us to sort the problem out.
The place is bit hidden you have to look out for other restaurants nearby to discover it.
Inside it’s a sharp clean n and bright with natural lighting, big tables good for parties and gatherings.
I had the pig knuckle it was delicious, the crisp were perfect and the meat was juicy and tender. It was bit hard for me to cut the knuckle, you need to have strong hands or good with your knife to get through the crisp :) ps. Pls ignore my cutting skills
They say bigger is better and if you have a hefty appetite you can be sure to find a satisfying meal at the Hof downtown. It’s a German restaurant located in the Docklands and is sister to the popular Hofbrauhaus in the city. Whether you want delicious German food (for example an epic 1.5kg roast pork knuckle) or top quality Bavarian beer, you’ve come to the right place.
We were here when they had the old menu (big shared platter) some time ago, but I do like the new menu better. You can order what appeals to you and still share these amongst the group (and not have to pay for what you won’t enjoy).
This is great place to bring a larger group to share a beer and some delicious German pub food. We came in on a Saturday evening when there was not a match on at the Etihad, so there were plenty of spots and parking was easy (you would imagine this place will be pumping on an event night).
We ordered the buffalo wings served with the blue cheese sauce (sticky, sweet and savoury), the beef carpaccio (generous serving, well seasoned and tasty), the pork hock (juicy and smoky on the inside, perfectly crispy and crunchy on the outside), the sausages (smoky and perfectly cooked - my favourite), a salty pretzel (these were ok) and a fresh salad to balance out the meats. Also had a couple of sweet German beers to help wash it all down. We came away, fully satisfied and contented. Service was friendly and prompt.
This is a great place for an afterwork drink or two, but they do do a great meal also. We will be back!
Great selection of German Beer as well as a Australian craft beer of the month. Spirit range was really good. Service was friendly and fast (wasn’t that busy). I tried the chicken wings as entree and the Käsespatzle as main. Really delicious. Highly recommended! Will be back!
The Hof Downtown has injected Docklands with a dose of European vitality with its much anticipated reopening on Bourke Street. Now freshly renovated, the team at Hof Downtown are excited to serve up their wonderful selection of beers, cocktails and contemporary Australian cuisine with a hearty German flair.
Came here with a group of colleagues and there's always plenty of space. We chose the $13.50 lunch special. Majority of us had the chicken schnitzel with mash on the side. Not bad for the price but of course there's always need for a little more to eat. They have an extensive list of beers from germany and other countries. I opted for a more organic cloudy zesty beer. Goes well. Would like to try out this place again if there's more discounts ! Mains usually are quite dear but not bad for dinners as mentioned by my colleague.
Delicious food. Loved the fried onions and mashed potato. Huge platters although it's pricey. Good atmosphere. Would come back if there is another deal.
4 pax family dinner using Scoopon. The Schweinshax'n was totally out of this world! Never knew German pork knuckle could be this delicious! We'll definitely be back for more!
Came for dinner before the soccer. You order st the counter and take a table number. I ordered the cider and the schnitzel burger, which came with chips, the burger was crispy, juicy and filled with salad, a nice dill flavoured sauce and a crispy fresh bread roll. The food came pretty quickly after ordering. And was quite tasty, but a bit on the pricey side. But it is conveniently located and a nice spot to go to before heading over to the stadium across the road.
Came here on a saturday afternoon for a quick bite to eat. We were greeted with friendly service and the waiters were also very courteous ensuring that we were happy with our meals. The indoor decor was spaced out well and very ambient.
We ordered the HOF cider which was refreshing. We also ordered the garlic bread which was crisp, fresh although a tad too salty. The crumbed mushrooms were abit bland on its own however the dipping sauce accompanying the mushrooms brought out the flavour.
It was a bit overpriced for what you get however a pleasant experience overall.
We recently ate at the Hof using a Scoopon.
Great value. The Scoopon cost us $49 for $100 to spend on the menu. There were 5 of us (3 adults, 2 children) and we were all very full by the time we finished, after using $99.50 of our credit. We only had one drink (a 500 ml cider for myself) between us, if we were ordering German beers for everyone we would have spent a lot more.
We ordered schnitzel for the children from the tapas menu. The waitress told us that this would be a small serving but it was actually more than enough for a child. We also ordered french fries for the kids and this was a large serving. The french fries were really good. The kids got through the schnitzel but they needed some help finishing the french fries. The kids also shared one dessert (ice cream).
Between the 3 adults we had a wurst platter and a soup. The wurst platter was great to share, lots of different sausages to try, although my wife had a severe case of menu envy when she saw a Hof Platter that someone else had ordered (it did look really good).
Even if we were paying full price the value is still pretty good, considering the serving sizes and the quality of the food. I have been to Munich and the food seemed to me to be pretty authentic beer hall fare.
Giving this a score a little lower than its sister restaurant in the CBD just because I didn't think their service was that good. Food and beer identical to its sister restaurant.

I lunched today at HOF Downtown & I ordered their traditional cheese Kransky sausages with mashed potato, traditional sourkraut & German mustard at $25.50, followed by their Bavarian style baked cheesecake with whipped cream at $13.50. Wow, I really enjoyed this 2 course mini-feast, the sausages were served steaming hot & within 10 minutes of ordering & the German mustard really added to the overall great flavour, the dessert didn't disappoint either, one of my favourites. This venue was abuzz with customers around 50 by 12:30pm & the four waitresses handled it well. My service provision (by the manager) was impeccable, he checked on me regularly ensuring that I was enjoyed my meal. The ambiance was terrific with the pleasant background music at a reasonable level to be heard over easily.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 4.5/5, Service Provision 5/5, Will I return: Yes definitely, it was a truly great experience.
Phill Jury (food critic & writer)
we used a voucher which gave us $150 of food and drink. Excellent value and the food was great. Service was great too, the girls are friendly and helpful and were more than happy to assist. We definitely will be back with friends to also experience good food even without a voucher.
"Hast du etwas Zeit für mich?"
The wind-swept Docklands area can feel a little sterile at times. But in this vast concrete jungle you can also locate German beer purity laws and glorious German nourishment. Your Dear Luncher ordered the Käsekrainer, a cheese kransky with mash, sauerkraut and mustard. The flavours were outstanding, perfect mashed potatoes. The 500ml Hoff Lager a wonderful accompaniment. The venue itself is a little bit cramped, particularly if there's a football game on, but one of the great spectacles of coming here is watching all the other dishes make their way out to other tables. Everything looks sehr gut. We stumbled back in after the football for more steins, quite a few more steins. Next day, no hangover. Vielen dank, German purity laws.
Good German food at decent prices. The outside bar is busy, but the smell of bratwurst cooking on the BBQ was mouth watering. Service is good, but we sat on the top level - downstairs the acoustics were a little overwhelming and it was incredibly busy. Good for an after work catch up with friends that really like beer.
We had a great night yesterday, used scoopon voucher worth $300 for 4 ppl. We all had food Koma, of course the service was not perfect, no service is perfect anyway. But the atmosphere and the overall experience I had I am happy to give them a 5!!
Excellent value for money w the Scoopon $100 voucher to spend on such meaty feast. Excellent friendly service and happy environment for a beer and meat w friends. Big thumbs up.. Especially the sausages and crispy giant pork knuckle.
I don't even know where to start of. Everything was on the top level! When you just open the door it takes you straight into Germany :) Every single detail interior, tables and chairs, paintings on the walls, the bar, staff everything makes you feel like you are on the holidays to Germany. Place by itself is very clean. Staff is nice and friendly can easily pick up your mood but what is really important they are fast so you won't wait long for your order. I ordered the hof's plate it's a mix of the main meats they have. Of course not completely everything but for the first time I thing this is the best choice. Also I got soup of the day to start and an apple strudel to finish with. The food was mouthwatering especially pork knuckle and desert. The more you eat the more you want! However we haven't finished everything because it was a lot for two so we had some takeaway. Once you finish you will feel complete satisfaction and fool stomach. So would I go there again? Jawohl!!! By the way I believe they still have promotion on scoopon with a good discount. So don't waste your chance go and try it yourself. It 100% worth.
Big portions people seekers are in for a treat! Had ordered the $99 set and I reckon it does fit for 3 hungry guys or 6 girls lol. We had the mulled wine and cranberry or cherry schnapps (forgot which one) it was delicious! The only disappointing is the spaztle noodle is too plain. Will be happy to be back next time!
Came here with my family with empty stomach. Their portion were in massive size. Definitely good for sharing.
Served by lovely waitress and a pleasant manager, we received some good suggestion what to order when we were not familiar with German food.
We ordered a huge platters that come with a huge pork knuckle, sausages, schnitzels, pork belly and etc. Flavour of everything was fantastic, especially the pork knuckle and pork belly. The only downside was the crispy skin wasn't crispy and crunchy enough. The mashed potatoes were creamy, smooth and tasty. Yum.
One of our knuckles was a bit below cooked and they happy to offer us a free piece huge pork belly. We were very happy with the generous of their chef and waitering staffs. Thank you.
Love their cheese cake dessert. Rich and full of flavour. One if the best cheese cake i had tried.
They have great selections of German beers. They put down some tasting notes on the menu so it was very convenient for us who had not tried German beer much.
Superb place.

The German experience has really caught on here in Melbourne and the new venues are definitely the spots to check out if you ever feel the need for a good stroodle. Located in Docklands this spot has to be one of the busiest and most sought after eating experiences. As a carnivore, there is nothing that brings me more joy than seeing a menu filled to the brim with more meat choices than you can poke a fork at (pun intended).
We came here for our pre-game dinner and were not dissapointed.
The waiter found us a table straight away even though this place was packed.
We ordered 2 Arcobrau beers which were beautiful on tap and also the wurst platter which had a variety of wurst which I think were Bratwurst,Kransky,Nurunberger, and possibly Knackwurst all sided by potato salad, sauerkraut and a basket of bread which was plenty for two people.
Everything was nicely cooked and the service was very freindly and prompt.
No complaints for us and this place had a good vibe.
Beer variety is awesome..
Good hearty German fair...
Freindly waiters and bar staff..
Proste!!! Guten Appetit...
Came here on an Wednesday night with the Living Social $59 deal for two to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a short stroll from Southern Cross station, which made travelling here a breeze. In sync with most of the comments already posted here, the portion was so generous that we had to take away one full container though usually being classified as strong eaters. The pork knuckle was a bit salty, yet its crackling skin was just simple perfection! On a side note, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with prompt service. I'll definitely come back.
Visited The Hof for lunch and it was a pretty chill location during the day. Used the Entertainment card and got a good discount, my friend and I both got a dish from their award winning sausages selection. They were pretty average, not the best wieners I've ever had. The freshly baked pretzel however, was amazing.. I would come back just for this item alone!!
Came here with a friend and loved the buzzing vibe inside and out. It's a huge venue - lovely staff but WOW ITS LOUD IN HERE. You've got to literally scream to talk.
Sausage platter good size - lots of sauerkraut and potato salad - living in Germany for ages I miss this sort of hearty food and will be back for the schnitzels. Should have come with red cabbage or something to break up the acidity.
Bretzel oh my god it was good. Nice wine list too and had the goldsekt with gold in the sparkling. Superb!
This restaurant is honestly quite expensive, but it worth a visit for an occasional treat. The environment is really nice, and the staff are attentive and friendly. I would recommend the $99 share platter which included pretty much everything you can imagine such as pork, sausages, salad and more! This is enough food for up to four people if you are not such big eaters. They also have a great variety of german beers, and they also have huge tables that are ideal for big group booking.
We went here with a scoopon, which gave us 50% off our bill. This was fantastic! Our staff were extremely friendly and I really enjoyed the food. Being Docklands though, we paid $30 for parking and there was nowhere else we could find which was annoying. And it was a Friday night but every time we ordered cocktails they took an absolute eternity to arrive. But the food was fantastic and I would go back if I was in the area!
As big fan of German cuisine, we need to check out The Hof and tackle their well Renowned Hof Platter filled with schnitzel, Bavarian sausages, Sauerkraut, Potato dumplings, Pork belly and Pork Loin aswell as the reason I love German food...... Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle), the meat was juicy and everso tender but my only negative on what was a great feed was that the crackling on the pork knuckle lacked that crispy crunch you desire in the meal, just as you would expect in any of the Bier halls in the Heart of Munchen.
We topped off our meal with each getting a Litre Stein of Weißbier, the reason that the Bavarians can drink all day is by just how smooth their beer is.
Recommended for look in if you want to get that little bit of Germany in the Heart of Melbourne.
Came here on a voucher deal ($59 for Hof platter for 2) and was most definitely not disappointed. Greeted warmly on arrival seated promptly, although we were seated at a table for 2 however we were a party of 3, which made things a bit squashy.
Massive drink selection, but the soft side was limited, settled on a house beer and the sparkling apple soda. The highly curious orange cola also piqued interest, so that got sampled as well.
Entree course was served promptly - a piping hot large pretzel served with a large rosette of butter. We were given the option of 2 or 3 but advised they are highly filling so opted for just 1 for the table and we were not disappointed. Hot steaming fresh pretzel was to die for. The butter was sumptuous and a fantastic starter.
The platter arrived within 10mins of entree plates cleared - a mammoth feat encompassing generous portions of chicken schnitzel, delicious sauerkraut, red cabbage, mash and the highlight- all things pork - sausage varieties, ham steak, pork roast with lashings of Apple sauce and a large whole pork knuckle complete with steak knife incising made this a dinner not to be messed with.
Eagerly, we dove in and delighted we were the food was well prepared with excellent execution and portions offered were more than adequate for all, with the entire table filled to the brim and still almost half the platter remained. It beat us.
Although frustrated with our efforts, the Hof were prepared, they came over with take away containers that were greatly accepted in order to continue our feasting at a later date. This food is far too good to waste, swallow your pride and get it to go.
Finally after some confusion, our dessert arrived - a strudel to share. Single sized, but more than adequate given the lacking of space in the belly. Rich and warm, a few bites more than satisfied.
After a few requests the bill was presented and away we waddled into the wet, cold night with the blanket of warm glowing from our stomachs and the promise of more in our plastic bag.
A great choice for gatherings of friends - apocalyptic for vegetarians.
The apple cider I got was so nice and fresh
We also got a dessert that's called something about dumpling topped with raspberry sauce it was sooo good!! We got sausages and pork knuckle they were all very good! Will definitely come back!
Make sure you have an empty stomach or a whole lot of friends before dining here! They have massive portion sizes. I ordered platters to share with my friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Great German food, better food than the Munich Brauhaus, probably on par with the the Hofbrauhaus food. Atmosphere not as great though, no live music, sort of quiet almost like a family restaurant. Don't really like how the waiting is done there. We were seated without menus, eventually got some myself. One of our waiters wasn't allowed to take our drinks order. Don't think they prioritised customer service, everyone was more worried about what job they were doing. Nice venue though, great food, would recommend.
Me and partner are regulars in hofbrauhaus and The hof downtown. We are the fans of their food and moreover and never been dissapointed by the experience provided by both venues with or without voucher.
Today we went to The Hof downtown with a $100 credit scoopon voucher and was amazed by the quality of service. The waitress serving us was amazing, really nice and attentive! Good job guys!:D
This is a great place! We came on a voucher including the shared platter and a sweet to share..... everything was really tasty and prepared very well. The platter is so generous it would need 2 massive eaters to finish it- we left quite a lot behind as we were just so full! The sweets were smaller (thankfully) but simply lovely. The beers are great and the Hof has a fantastic feel to it that makes you want to kick back, relax and spends hours chatting over truly good beers with great friends..... try stopping us from coming back!Keep in mind though, not a place for vegetarians!
We tried the Hof since we've been to Munich during Oktoberfest and thought we'd relive some of the experience. We used a 3 course dinner Groupon and the meal was ridiculously full of food, especially meat, that will feed more than the allotted 2 people it's meant to serve. Around us people were ordering platters to share full of food, so there's no fear you'll leave the restaurant hungry. The starter was a smoked trout with a few pickled vegetables, then a soft pretzel and a large portion of kasespatzle (similar to a German macaroni and cheese). The main included a cabbage roll stuffed with meat on a bed of mashed potatoes, beef goulash, and a meat filled dumping on a bed of sauerkraut. On the same platter was a chicken schnitzel, 3 different sausages on a bed of potato salad, and a regular salad. The apple strudel came last, but was surprisingly light compared to all the meat. Overall, the meal was decent, although I'd recommend you come hungry with a large appetite for meat., meat, and more meat. The service was a little disjointed as we had several people wait on us throughout the night; just whoever happened to be walking by at the time. The servers were friendly, however, it was difficult to get our bill at the end.
Went there with a Groupon voucher.Entre was ocean trout fish with pickled veggies which was very good. Then we had to wait a bit to get the mains. Sausages were amazing but chicken schnitzel was disappointing. Beef goulash was nice and minced meat was quite tasty. Pretzel was as good as expected and the noodle like dish which I forgot the name was great. Dessert was apple strudel with ice cream which was very great but small. Waiters andwaitreses were all energetic, kind and helpful. I got the dark beer which cannot go wrong and value is fair. I came with a voucher and the value was good. I gave 4 because 3.8 is close to 4. Hofbrahaus is better but more noisy and expensive I reckon. So pick your side depending on your occasion :).
Gave this place a try even though we had no groupon vouchers. We prepared and wore our big boy pants & it's a good thing we did! We had to roll out of the restaurant. There was 4 of us and we ordered the HOF platter which serves 2-3 people & the lovely waitress recommended a sausage platter as well after we mentioned we were all big eaters. Both platters were huge!! Total meat overload. Think we needed some vegetables to help us cut through the meat taste. The platters had some mashed potatoes, few salad leaves and a weird pickled onion side? which we left uneaten. However, the German tap beer is so damn good! First time having it & I really enjoyed it! Overall it was a good experience!
German beer on tap in Melbourne! If that wasn't good enough the food is simply delish. Bratwurst sounds a bit boring (sausage and mash) but it's a nice change from your regular parma and steak.
Got coupon from OurDeal $118 for 2 platters loaded with Schweinhaxen, 4 types of sausages, chicken schnitzel, sauerkraut and red cabbage, pork belly, mashed potato etc. Each platter feeds 2-3 people. Dessert was pancakes and ice cream. All up, pretty good value bcos the Schweinhaxen was the BEST we ever tasted in Melb. Perfectly done. The Kartoffelsalat was really excellent and the Bavarian Cheesecake was sublime. Great German Beer and a lively atmosphere throughout.
A bit noisy but what else would you expect from Bavarian Beer Halls anyway?
Service was excellent. Booked 2 weeks ahead and received a call 2 days before just to confirm reservation. Waitresses all prettily dressed up in dirndls & waiters were in Lederhosen. Quite a few genuine Deutsche Mädchen waitresses too and we were got excellent service from Steffi who was attentive, helpful and very pleasant.
We tried the Hofbräuhaus in Market lane and the Tivoli in St Kilda. However this place is much better. We will definitely return again.
Vielen danke Steffi. Alles war sehr gut.
Tasty food in incredibly big portions. My lamb shoulder just melt in my mouth, the best I’ve ever had!! Lovely and friendly staff too. Great atmosphere, perfect for friends/family casual gathering. Will definitely come back :)
Delish! Pork knuckle is a must with mash potato. We also had some octopus and pretzels which were a delight to eat.
We went here before a show in the city. The service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere is lively. Wish we had more time for more drinks but we had to eat and run. Highly reccomended!
On our first visit, we were disappointed because all the sausages and the ocean trout were sold out. So we cancelled our lunch and went out. The manager (the person in charge that day) said really sorry for the trouble and asked us to come back 2 days ahead as the sausages stocks will be piled up again.
We came back a week after, and the nice manager turned out still remember us! So he again apologized for the inconvenience we experience and offered us snapps on the house! Free of charge. We were really happy and appreciated. Service 10/10
For the food, MUST try their pork knuckle, really really juicy inside and crunchy outside! Perfect 10/10
The sausages were delicious 9/10

You have to try, cannot recommend enough.
Absolutely amazing experience everything is wonderful from the very friendly service to food to atmosphere. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. We had the bretzel schnitzel, the cheese kransky, the creme caramel, the apple strudel and schnapps (cherry and butterscotch).

Enjoy an authentic German feast with some signature dishes including, German pork knuckle dish.

You can’t talk about German food and culture without highlighting the quality of its beers, have some most delicious beers on tap!
This one is authentically serving some great veg ans vegan option, I was delighted with the dip platter comes with three drool worthy dips and fresh sourdough, and the mushroom gnocchi just tasted class apart.
Don’t forget to, Order up a sausage platter for group sharing, The atmosphere is one of fun and good times with a “dining in the woods” feel.
This place is in a good location and has a good atmosphere to catch up with friends.
The menu didn't speak to me too much, but the drinks were good. I went for the pomegranate cocktail and enjoyed it, even though I doubted I would.
The Kransky dish wasn't anything out of this world, but tasted good, and I wouldn't mind ordering it again.
This Bavarian bar is the place to go in Docklands area if you are looking to get your German beers fix. The venue is big with seatings indoor and outdoor, perfect for mini special occasion. The food are your typical bar food but Bavarian style. The meat Platter is the perfect introduction to the cuisine and can feed 3 - 4 people. Sausages are my favourite here.
