This nondescript little store hides a plethora of treats inside, and if you are a lover of sweets, then Ganache Chocolate has you covered. With shelves lined with beautiful chocolates and a few small marble bistro tables, this is a lovely place to stop for a treat. The interior definitely has a Parisian flair, and it is elegant but cosy.
The cakes and pastries are divine to look at, and it's very difficult to choose. We settled upon a passion fruit sponge and mousse cake which not only was very pretty, but delightful to eat. The tangy passion fruit was sublime.
Our coffee came with complimentary amaretti cookies, and they too were delicious; as was the coffee. We were served by a lovely lady who was helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed our experience enough to definitely come back again.
Was introduced to this place by a friend. Located conveniently on Toorak Rd, this place serves a variety of hot chocolate ☕️ I specifically recalled that they had this variation of spicy hot chocolate in which I gave it a try. Surprisingly it was made well, had a good balance of spicy & chocolate that it did not overthrow the other flavours.

Bought a Triple Mousse cake for husband's birthday. Must say it was to die for. We devoured every bite.
Yum yum yum! Not as sweet as you’d expect which was nice, meant we could fit everything in! Such good value, $39pp! Yum! Needs scones though!
I've always loved Ganache and their hot chocolates! Their hot chocolates are a must try, especially the original and salted caramel! Cakes are also delicious. A bit on the expensive side but very much worth it. Love how they have smaller sizes that are good for one.
Cakes: 4 Service : 0.5 , total: 4.5. The cakes are so delicately baked and make with so much precision. The amount of biscuit base, mousse, sponge and chocolate are so evenly balanced. When the chocolate cake..especially the halzenut one..touches your mouth, they just gently melts. So delightful. A piece of edible Art. Love them
Passed this place after dinner and looking on very attractive chocolate display on the windows, and decided to come in.
There is chocolate wrapped in popcorn... what?!? That’s genius idea!
Anyway did order their house special mocha, which were deliciously good up to last drop.
Not only that my friends, it’s just under $5 which is cheap and affordable.
Bought also salted caramel dark chocolate and cherry liquor dark chocolate, both taste amazing.
Love the intensity of cherry liquor, and generous amount too.
One of my favourite chocolate cafes in Melbourne is Ganache at South Yarra (the other being the Ganache in the CBD)! Located at the intersection of Toorak Rd and Chapel St - the fashion and food precinct of Melbourne - this cafe offers abundant seating for the entire family. And if you are lucky you might even catch a glimpse of chocolatier Arno Backes - a true inspiration to us all, a survivor! @Arno loved your work on #sharktank - you deserve all the support and more!
Purchased fifth avenue cake for my dad in law's birthday. It looked and tasted beautiful. I usually find sweets in Western countries too sweet, but this cake was very pleasant to eat! It had crunchy component at the bottom of it, which was unexpected :) Definitely will try other cakes in future.
Hot chocolate to die for!
Not too sweet, silky smooth, consistent, tasty and perfectly heated.
Everything right with this one! Mmmmmmm!!!!!
Would highly recommend this as a post-dinner stop!
This cute little place is absolutely buzzing and chocoholics dream. Nestled off Toorak road this cafe is not to be missed.
Service - the girls are super attentive and service is very efficient
Menu - the $35 high tea menu is amazing value for money. There's also many workshops hosted on site from chocolate making to flowercrowns.
Must try is the signature hot chocolate, raspberry cocktail all decadent but worth the calories and the passionfruit Ganache chocolate OMG (thank me later)
I went here with a Meetup group after dinner at Dainty Sichuan. There was about 10 of us so they set up a table out the back. I liked the look of the cafe and the lights looks interesting. They had chocolate making things on the shelf so maybe they do workshops on the back, who knows 🤷🏼♀️.
I ordered a winter spice hot chocolate and the Black Forest individual cake to share. The cake was beautiful and easy to cut through, it was rich as you would expect from a Black Forest cake but it was perfect to share. I really enjoyed my hot chocolate, I wasn't craving a thick rich hot chocolate so this runny one with spices was perfect. I couldn't tell you the spices in it though, all I can say is there is cinnamon, maybe cardamom maybe clove, who knows 🤷🏼♀️. Someone who ordered the original hot chocolate said it was too rich.
The people working here were friendly at first but as we left one of them didn't smile at us, maybe she thought we were too loud and we were there for too long because they wanted to close and she had better things to do than work on a Saturday night, who knows 🤷🏼♀️. I would probably come back here.
Went here for high tea the other day with my friend, and it was all well worth the money! Everything we were given tasted delicious. My favourites were the pulled pork toastie, hazelnut mousse slice, and the little honey cakes. The honey cakes were scrumptious and had a big honey flavour. They make their own honey at the place, so everything honey flavoured is very potent and delicious. Service was excellent. Atmosphere wasn't so bad, but wasn't awkward at all. Very enjoyable experience!!
Ganache has been a long time local regular for myself and my family.
The coffee is one the best in the area and the warm and welcoming staff, in particular Debora always makes us feel instantly at ease.
A great selection of chocolates that make suitable gifts and good quality ice-cream.
The shop renovation earlier this year has reinvigorated the store and will cement this as my regular go to place for coffee & chocolate in the future.
Many flavors of hot chocolate including chili.. mint.. white chocolate..etc. We ordered the original one and the hazelnut flavor. Both of them are very tasty and sweet!! Someone who like very sweet stuff should definitely come here!!
One of the best place to get a very good hot chocolate in winter in south yarra. it is nice and thick and full of flavor, not wick like many places do. And also they have a great range of chocolates.
I was here for chocolate high tea with some girlfriends yesterday. The chef/owner personally served us and explained each little treat to us. Great service by the girls working there. The array of treats for the high tea was great with very generous serves of everything! The honey tea cakes made of homemade honey were so yummy! We even got little goodie bags to take home with the cutest little box of 2 chocolates. Will definitely be recommending and returning in future!
The chocolate milkshake was to die for! Everything was perfect, the whipped cream, icecream and chocolate shavings. I ordered a lemon tart after, and it was tangy, bright and citrus-y. Absolutely delicious.
For an indulgent high tea experience that evolves around chocolates, it simply doesn’t get any better than this. From the carefully hand-crafted chocolates that incorporates hyper-local ingredients, to the European-inspired cakes and pastries that are owner Arno’s own creations, there’s no doubt that his passion is evident in every bite.
Excellent service. The choclatier came out to our table to introduce all the items on our high tea. Lovely touch. Would recommend for a lovely treat.
A lot to like about this place....
Not just the classic, cosy set up but more to the goodies that are on offer.
Hot Chocolates are not the best in Melbourne but pretty well made, Ganache are okay too, what stood out was their French style cakes, superb.
Service was a little chaotic, but their offering made up for it.
What a charming [咖啡]hot-chocolate "gem" starring on Toorak Rd, even better than that from my favorite Koko Black ! Ganache[强]Chocolate, "Envy of Melbourne"!
One of my fav places to get chocolate fix. I used to order their ice chocolates a lot until I fell in love with their hot chocolates. Both classic and hazelnut hot chocs are good. They are not too thick or too creamy but you can really taste the chocolate flavour. Hazelnut fan slice is my go to go cake but they have none today so we settled for the triple mousse.
LOVED IT! Absolutely amazing. Had the high tea here which was only 35 bucks including a drink and would come here again definitely. Didn't eat until dinner. There were so much variety of food. From their sandwiches to sweet goodies! I would definitely go here again. Loved their cheese toasties and their pulled pork toasties probably my favourite. Their cakes were great too. Hot chocolate here is YUM YUM YUM. The best staff. And if you do the high tea they put you in a private room in the back which we loved! Highly recommended.
Ganache's chocolate high tea is not for the faint hearted! It certainly sent us into an insane (yet amazing) sugar coma! The items (both sweet and savoury) at ganache are of high quality and very taty. The high tea seems to be pretty reasonably priced (perhaps slightly on the more expensive side but you do get a lot and can take left overs home).
We certainly love our sweets but would prefer if there was a bit more savoury or even some fruit included to balance everything out.
Our favourites included the 3 cheese toastie, the honey comb chocolate and the cocktails (you have to pay 10$ each more for cocktails). The white choc mocha and hazelnut lattes were great too. We found one of the staff members particularly unfriendly and rude but otherwise the service was very friendly. A fun idea and a nice option for a present!
First time having High Tea. Was not disappointed, staff was very welcoming with smiles. Our waiter had briefed us through the menu and was very attentive to exceed customer service. Lovely place very secluded and imitate. Great variety of cakes and warm items, would recommend high tea for first timers or a place to hang out with the girls
Been here hundreds of times over the past 7-8 years.
This is without doubt the best hot chocolate i have ever had (and that includes well known establishments in Paris).
Try the gianduja hot chocolate which is my favorite.
On Saturday a group of friends and I tried Ganache's chocolate high tea. Unlike a lot of high teas I've tried, Ganache's high tea had way more sweets than savoury food. Not only were there chocolate cakes and macaroons but they also had a separate plate filled up with chocolates. There were only two savoury dishes - a pulled pork and cheese sandwich and a quiche. I loved the high tea but it definitely needed more savoury food to balance out all the sweetness. The highlight of the high tea wasn't the sweets but instead (surprisingly) the pulled pork and cheese sandwiches!! Yum! I would just return for the sandwiches!
I loved how the chefs came out and explained each item in detail.
It was a fun experience and I would definitely recommend it. The servings are huge! At $35 per person it is well valued.

The team at Gânache Chocolate South Yarra, led by Master Chocolatier, Arno Backes, have now introduced a chocolate high tea. There’s been a recent revamp of the interior, with a new white ceiling, accents of green, faux windows along the side, and light fixtures set higher from the ground. It lends to a more open and spacious feel to the European-style chocolate lounge.
Chocolate paradise in Toorak Road. Walking in Ganache is like wow Chocolate everywhere, Easter eggs everywhere. On an early morning we tried the hot chocolate, so yum. We could help ourselves from buying some on display. great place for Chocolate lovers.
Went here months ago to try their hot chocolate. Had ordered an original hot chocolate and latte. The hot chocolate was okay but not that good. The coffee was average but still worth a visit 🍫
Tasty hot chocolate and cakes. Friendly and attentive staff. I'll definitely go back for more chocolates and cakes. It was delicious. The cake tastes fresh.
It's 9 degree outside, raining and windy, so I decided to grab a hot chocolate as I walked pass the store. I ordered the classic hot chocolate and I fell in love at the first sip! It's sweet and very smooth. The cookie they serve on the side is also good; it's crunchy and chewy at the same time. Recommended!

Finally, I got time to hang out with my friends at South Yarra, and I had a great afternoon chilling out at the Ganache Chocolate today. I chose the pear caramel slice to go. Rich, silky smooth caramel mousse on top of a sponge base. There were even chunks of soft pear in between the two layers.
One night I just decided to buy a box of chocolates as a present for myself. I'm not a big chocolate fan but boy I was wrong. I love the chocolates here! I bought all different flavours and they were all amazing. Time to buy more chocolates!
I tried their savoury menu this time at Ganache chocolate to see what it was like. I ordered their organic chicken bun/'burger', it was $6 and appearance wise it didn't look that big but it was delicious. The chicken was definitely the best part; fresh, light and really healthy. I would order this again. The hot chocolate also came with a meringue type of biscuit which was crunchy and yummy too. I really like how there is so many different flavours of hot chocolate available - even white hot chocolate. Service was also very friendly and there's no minimum on card.
Scouted zomato and came across this place for a quick dessert. High rating and went on to try with high expectations. Had a chocolate and sliced of hazelnut choc cake.
Chocolate was rich. Not too sweet. I would say they are better than what koko black serves. Comparable to chocolait. Cake was pretty good as well. Reminds me of Nutella because of the distinct hazelnut flavors in the cake. All in all, pretty good place.
My brother and sister flew in to visit for the weekend and have been bugging us for incredible chocolate and cake - so what better place than the iconic Ganache!
A chocolate sampler, some cake, more cake and an iced chocolate frappachino! Way too sweet for me but it did go down a treat with them.
几年前第一次品尝的时候就爱上它了,丝滑的不得了的液体在你还没有反应过来时已经划入了你的喉咙,我已经忘记了答应自己要控制热量,在它面前只能承认自己的意志力还不够强。
Fell in love with the hot chocolate at the first time I tasted it. Incredibly silky and smooth. Forget about calories, all I want is another sip.
Passed by this place a few times and finally tried it today. Was confused between the brownie mousse and the hazelnut fan and ultimately settled for the hazelnut fan slice. Tasted good had a nice texture. Definitely a must try when visiting South Yarra !
Nice place for desserts, the interior had a vintage feel to it. I had the chocolate raspberry mousse and it was soo divine, I couldn't stop eating it even though I was so full from dinner earlier. My sister also seemed to really enjoy her raspberry dessert, I didn't get to try it but it certainly looked interesting, like a giant macaroon with raspberries and cream in the middle. The staff was also so nice, she was so helpful and attentive. Really must try their drinks and other cakes next time!
Oh my god! We found this place after we had dinner last night and i ordered their hazelnut cake and it was to die for! It was ferrero rocher make into a cake, crunchy, not overly sweet, a bit salty, just perfect!
The choco mousse and mango passionfruit was only okay.
Ill go back for their hazelnut cake anytime soon!
Very pleasant. Nice atmosphere, good chocolates, open at many hours and nice relaxing place where you are made to feel there is no need to rush. Sit back and enjoy.
A peaceful and alice in wonderland like environment. Great place for a coffee, cup of tea and refreshments. Savoury options are also available. Mostly great service. Prices are within range for the area.
Ganache is a fine chocolate outlet that offers a delicious white hot chocolate. They stock a selection of 'loose' chocolate available for purchase seperate lay however, this selection is very similar to those found elsewhere. With friendly staff and competitive prices, Ganache is a must try if you love white chocolate.
A great range of chocolates and they have a habit of making cool/fancy seasonal food items. They coffee is pretty good here, but their hot chocolate is something that needs recognition. Definitely a place for chocolate lovers such as myself!
THE USUAL GANACHE PRODUCTS BUT IN A NICER SETTING -- The Ganache cafe in South Jarrah is very similar to any other Ganache in the city, but it is larger, quieter and more comfortable, with more space between tables, some couches to relax, and a beautiful array of Ganache products elegantly displayed. The place is not as full on with customers as the one in the city for example, so service is way more attentive and warmer.
The passion fruit and mango slice not only looks fabulous but it tastes fabulous.
I would work on getting a nicer mix of coffee beans. I find their coffee good but a bit weak, so OK to me.
LOVE the cakes and chocolates here! My favourites are the Passion fruit & Mango cake, Hazelnut Fan Slice and the Brownie Mousse slice! #somint
The hazelnut fan slice was lovely! Dropped by for dessert one night and my sugar cravings were well satisfied! The crisp hazelnut base was complemented well by the smooth creamy centre that melts in your mouth! Would love to go back and try more if their cakes :)
One of the best chocolate lovers spots in Melbourne.
Always enjoyable a warm hot chocolate, especially in this cold winter.
Warm and cosy atmosphere as well, worth a quick stop.
THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE. Delicious hot chocolate this morning just before going away for the weekend.
Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate.. Wonderful display of chocolate, and nice. They do some nice slices, and the best hot chocolate in Melbourne.
This is part of my quest for the best sweets and cakes in Melbourne.
I am at number 5 so far.

Best Place For Hot Chocolate. With the cold weather kicking in! a hot chocolate on a Saturday morning with a croissant, what more do you want?
Gânache Chocolate started out in Melbourne at the suburb of South Yarra, particularly less than ten metres away from my apartment. I'm so blessed to have such a beautiful and one of the best chocolate cafe right in front of my building. The chef that started Gânache Chocolate , known as Master Arno Backes was passionate and devoted his life to making superb quality chocolates. Along with his partner, Charles Bernard who had experiences with Pierre Herme, the both of them brought in the European flare as inspiration to the business. There is now two Gânache Chocolate outlets and I have been to both of them. I have managed to even take photos of both outlets one at South Yarra and the other at the Collins Street on the CBD. My favourite outlet is still the one at South Yarra because its less crowded and more convenient for me. Hazelnut Fan Slice, 8.50AUD Gânache Chocolate's most popular cake goes to the Hazelnut Fan Slice. Knowing that the Hazelnut cake has a bottom crispy praline crun

I can't resist their raspberry chocolate mousse. When I am in the area, I go out of my way to get one of these lush and soft indulgences, that or enjoy a hot chocolate in either their small yet comfortable dining room or even more secluded parlour room at the rear of the building.

They all looked very delicious and gave out a calling: "come and eat me...".

Ganache Chocolate gives some of the up and coming Parisian chocolate sculptors a run for their money.
Now we have another perfect spot to taking a rest and enjoying nice drinks. Ganache for all chocolate lovers! It's warm, it's lovely and it's Parisian chic!
Beautiful cakes here. We've tried nearly all of them for work occasions and never disappoint.
Delicious, and great chilled out atmosphere. Love that they are doing soups for lunch.
The best salted caramel hot chocolate. Worth every cent. You have to try this at least once in your life
This place is excellent! My family and I dropped by for dessert the other day and we were not disappointed. The waitress was very nice and extremely patient with us. The cakes and macaroons are to die for and I had the best hot chocolate I've ever had in my entire life. Luckily we came here or I wouldn't've been able to taste a cup of heaven.
Dessert !. Came here for dessert after dinner up the road. A great choice.
Fantastic ice cream, chocolate, cakes etc.
Great quality at fair prices.
Great chocolate, nice place! Better than Lindt cafe!
The absolute BEST hot chocolate you can have in Melbourne! The Hazelnut Hot Chocolate in particular is to die for! Been coming here for a long time and the service and consistency is spot on! Never had an issue.
MUST VISIT. Hot chocolates are next level, delicious
Not as good as Koko Black. But definitely nice. Had a hot chocolate that was delicious. Whatever chocolate they are using they are doing it right, the hot chocolate was so gooey it was great.
Had a hot chocolate and the raspberry mousse and both were devine!
I had the hot chocolate and found it delicious. I also had the sugar free chocolate bar and it was equally beautiful. The service was prompt and good. Overall, I like this place.
Yummmmmy cakes and hot chocolate. A nice little chocolate place and surprisingly good cakes. Loved the lemon tart and also the chocolate brownie cake. Hot chocolate sooo good and rich but I wouldn't recommend having that with another chocolate cake, be too much. Definitely a favourite.
Excellent service, great hot chocolates & amazing desserts - Ganache puts the Lindt Cafe to shame!!!
My chocolate dream. Hands down, the closest approximation to a real, French hot chocolate that I've found in Australia. It's really that good. Velvety and smooth, with that creamy mouth feel that makes you want to go back for more. The macarons were nice, easily on par with Laduree in Sydney, though maybe not up to La Belle Miette, just not quite as chewy on the inside. Great atmosphere in an airy, renovated heritage shopfront and cheerful, friendly staff.

Ganache. Excellent service excellent coffee and the best hot chocolate you will ever taste! Their chocolate and cake range is beyond incredible with everything HAND made upstairs in their kitchen ( I couldn't believe it, the patterns of the chocolate, the details of the cakes, your mouth will drop) if you haven't tried ganache chocolate you are missing out there're service is amazing, and you will always be greated with a friendly positive attitude you won't be disappointed!! I'll be back soon! 10/10
Hot chocolate lover. This is my absolute favourite hot chocolate in Melbourne so far. Living in South Yarra, there are many chocolate places with in a small area, but this place comes out on top everytime. The service is really attentitive; your water glass is constantly topped up so you can keep eating as much chocolate as you like without suffering richness overload. My favourite menu item is the hazelnut hot chocolate, which is only $6 and a great way to warm up. I can't recommend this place enough, and I love that there are items on the menu that are gluten friendly and some items are low lactose too! What a winner!
Chocolate made with passion; come here to rekindle a love of life. Ambitious flavours like real raspberry and Kalamansi lime. Topped off with the best coffee I have found in these parts. Very reasonable prices considering the quality, great service and a relaxing atmosphere.
I hope Ganache will go forth and multiply, spreading happiness the world over.
Try the hot chocolate or the chocolate milkshake! You'll never regret it!
Coffee stop. Lovely place for a coffee stop. We had lattes and tried a couple of their macaroons - delicious :D
Even sampled some of the chcolate.
Staff friendly.
Hazelnut Macaroon. Ganache Chocolate still gave m my best macaroon experience to date and I have tried a few. The hazelnut macaroon was amazing and for me nothing has quite hit the spot since!
Decent, reasonably priced chocolate. I'm not a fan of most of Melbourne's chocolate chains--most of them sell a pretty average product. Ganache's chocolates are nice. Not as nice as, perhaps, Monsieur Truffe's (easily Melbourne's best--unless you're heading into the Food Hall or Essential Ingredient to buy blocks of Valrohna), but still good. And very reasonably priced for this sort of thing. Staff know a bit about chocolate and can provide sound recommendations based on your preference re: flavourings, cocoa solids, etc.
Wouldn't make the special trip but I'd duck in for a few chocolates next time I was in the area.
Great chocolate!. They have great chocolate here i enjoy coming here after dinner :)
The hot chocolates here are great. I always enjoy sitting in and trying out some of their variety of chocolate. The service is lacking sometimes, they seem tired and not very friendly.
My guilty pleasure. I come here for the beautiful desserts, marvellous macarons (love lavender!) and delicious hot chocolate.
Delicious! You get heaps of food and a good variety of things. We couldn't eat it all so we took home what was left. Drinks were delicious as well. Staff were lovely.
