Delicious food. Great Service. Ambience AMAZING.
Mr Hive offers excellent value especially within the Crown complex. The ‘Victoria by the Glass’ menu is a great selection and also comes with a glass of wine. The duck was delicious and the highlight of the meal. The staff are excellent too. If you go mid week you could likely get a table without a booking but a booking would be suggested for weekends
Fairly surprised with the quality of food here. Considering we always have bad or mediocre dining experience. The steak was cooker perfectly and the sauce that comes with it was paired nicely. The grilled prawn were great but only came in 4 pieces. The star was risotto though, it was seasoned and cooked really well
This is fantastic spot located at Crown. It's beautifully designed with ample seating and excellent service. I came here for dinner and ordered the three courses which came with two glasses of wine. I ordered the king prawns for starters, which came with a glass of sav blanc, the black angus sirloin served with a glass of shiraz, and then the chocolate bar for dessert. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The meals came out in a timely manner, and we didn't feel rushed. Would come back again.
An unforgettable fine dining experience. Everything from the food to the atmosphere and the staff were satisfactory beyond belief. Would definitely return in the future.
We dined post races at The Hive at crown. This is a modern styled dimly lit venue with a really sophisticated ambience and a intimate feel despite being quite a large venue. We didn’t have a booking so we’re asked to wait
For 20 minutes at the bar then shown to our table just after just 5 minutes once we had ordered a round of drinks ( I’m always suspicious of venues that this happens at but guess we would have had drinks anyway).
Our table was immaculately set and we read the menu with interest. I am deprived of steak at home so once I saw the 350g rib eye I just had to have this dish. It came with a bernaise sauce mash and broccolini. Such a good cut of meat and I really enjoyed it. Others on the table had the half chicken and found the breast somewhat dry and over cooked but the other steak eater was satisfied like me.
Service was really slow and waiting staff did not know the menu well which is something The Hive needs to work on. Our questions were not that tough and waiting staff should have been knowledgeable enough to be able to answer ( or description on the menu expanded) .
Drinks wise we enjoyed a bottle of Chianti and also had cocktails of the day at the bar. We had two entertainment cards so saved money off our bill... always a good story when that happens
Overall a enjoyable meal for me but less so for others on the table.
LOVED both the café side of this restaurant and also the buffet. The buffet, (and I’ve been to a lot) was the BEST I’ve ever experienced, I came at breakfast time and the quality and types of food was next level
I very highly recommend , Even though it wasn’t cheap, you’ll 100% leave satisfied
The plunger coffee was an awesome touch, as was the donut wall
At the café, I have to give mention to the polenta porridge, I was hesitant at first, but man it was good!!!

Reservations was easy and service was top class. The beef cheeks and rib eye was done to perfection.
Rocket Side dish was much better than the cauliflower .
Corkage was $4.5 per person .
Btw entertainment book have 25% off up to $40
Very attentive staff, friendly service, amazing wine and great food. No negatives
Food was absolutely delicious! The waiter was extremely friendly and easy to talk to. One area for improvement would most likely be the lighting it was a bit dark in the area we were seated in. Overall had a delightful experience the small plates to share were definitely a highlight. Steak peppercorn sauce could have had a little bit more flavour but the mushroom sauce was phenomenal!
Starting with the service, it was flawless. Staff were attentive and friendly. Always ensuring we had enough water and happily catered with our request for dessert.
The dishes were amazing. Each protein was cooked perfectly. The fish was tender and the pork belly was crispy. The carrots were deliciously sweet and the desserts were presented beautifully.
Nice place for any special occasion.
Beautiful interior with spacious space. Came here for breakfast buffet. Loved their food selection. Service is attentive. Food were amazing as well. Good way to start the day.
Dined here last night before a show at the Palms and it really impressed. The ambience is beautiful with its warm lighting and relaxing acoustic versions of popular songs. We were provided with complimentary fresh bread to begin which was delicious and bonus points for offering us more after we finished the first serve. We politely declined but the generosity of the second helping did not go unnoticed. To start we ordered oysters and the pork belly and then my partner had the sirloin and I the risotto for the main. We complimented it with a bottle of Clare Valley Sangiovese. The outstanding aspect of the night however was the service, specifically from our waiter Kelvin. He was wonderful attentive, friendly and professional. Will definitely be returning!
Feeling as though I was in a bee hive, the ambience was so cool. I’ve frequented to Mr Hive both for Brunch and at night when it turns into a bar. They were both really enjoyable experiences. It’s a neat little place in Crown 😀
All I can say is from the minute I walked in I was in love. An incredibly elegant and beautiful interior matched with cocktails and food to die for. Could not recommend this place any higher grab your friends and enjoy a fancy night out.
Lovely dinner at Mr Hive. The highlight was the service, May in particular. She was attentive and helped us with all food and beverage preferences. Thank you for the lovely evening, May! Food was good, perhaps slightly overpriced.
Such a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic meal to be had. The waiters are really nice and knowledgeable, service was just as amazing. Food was amazing and we had a steak. It was cooked perfectly, just as I like it, medium rare. Will be back for sure!
A semi fine dining restaurant, Mr Hive Kitchen & Bar served great steak and other modern Australian meals. Service was prompt and friendly, venue was cosy with a classy feel.
• Mr • Hive • Kitchen • And • Bar • - First of all I have no idea where the HELL this place gets there cheese from but it’s the best thing I have ever put in my mouth! Its so rich and creamy that when it’s over you’re tempted to get more ... The quince paste is just amazing it literally leaves your mouth watering for more, and the dried grapes on the vine are just so sweet and tangy at the same time, you feel like a God getting fed, but really you’re just feeding yourself... cause you’re forever alone... service is friendly but professional, price is reasonable but little higher then average. #foodporn #foodblogger #cheeseplatter #cocktails #crowncasino #grapes
Been here for a rare night out with the girls so decided to splurge. Definitely pricey but the service is impeccable and the food is incredibly exquisite. Portions are actually not bad for fine dining, I have seen way smaller. Good value for the lots of money spent. Amazing ambience and it was a wonderful night out with lots of cocktails!
The food is great but the service is a standout at this venue. They were great with the whole family including the kids. Every meal was delicious. The decor is lovely although not my style of vintage. But still very well done for the style. I really enjoyed the dining experience at Mr Hive.
In Southbank for breakfast or brunch it is hard to go past Mr Hive buffet. Extensive selection of pastries and breads. Eggs done multiple ways, freshly made omelette my favourite. Fruit, yoghurt, pork buns, cold meats, cheeses, waffles, pancakes, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans etc. If you don’t leave happy, your just too fussy! Coffee fantastic and they had good gluten free options too.
Keenly priced for a top quality restaurant. The preset $67 meals had terrific choices and were faultless - pre dinner drinks with a live singer had great ambience too . We thoroughly enjoyed it and will return!

Originally we were just going to order room service for our night at Crown Metropol, so perhaps weren't dressed the best for such a fancy place however upon walking past we were immediately drawn in. There was live music and a great feel to the bar. First impressions of the wait staff were disappointing with the waitress asking us if we were "sure we had looked at the menu" and "were we sure we wanted to have dinner there". After that little hiccup it was smooth sailing. I absolutely fell in love with the menu and the presentation of food is perfect. Hot tip, try the Grilled Yellowfin Tuna - it's amazing. Dessert was memorable, I enjoyed a Frozen Creme Brûlée which was different, and totally worth the calories!
I went to Mr Hive for dinner and drinks and thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a small but good selection of cocktails, and a decent variety of other alcoholic drinks. Cute little bar/lounge area before you proceed into the dining room, so if you arrive early you can relax with a drink or two. The service was outstanding - everyone staff member we interacted with was really lovely and helpful, absolutely outstanding customer service at the dinner table too. For dinner, we ordered the rib eye and the black Angus sirloin - both were great, and cooked medium rare as requested without being overdone or underdone, which I guess can sometimes happen when you get a thick cut of steak like the rib eye they serve. We also ordered a rocket salad with parmesan and figs which was a nice addition to balance all the heavy meat, as the steaks only come with some mash and sauce. We did order the chips, they were ok, just like any other chips you can buy anywhere else. The venue was just a perfect balance of busy without being overcrowded, so it was easy to have a good conversation. Tables are spaced well apart from what I could see, so you're not elbowing the diners sitting next to you. The lights are dimmed but not too much so, it creates a really nice, relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely return to this place, the staff and the food and venue in general made for a really enjoyable dinner.
Delicious cocktails and we couldn’t get enough of your popcorn! Live music was incredible, the vibe was so good. TJ served us, he was bubbly, talkative and hilarious! He whipped up the best drinks for us, we ordered more just to see what he had up his sleeve next! He watched us devour your truffle oil and seasalt popcorn and came over to ask if we wanted more...Oh yes we do, TJ! He even created us a special cakeboard, it was the perfect end to our evening, he completely made our night! I left my purse at the table and TJ went to the effort to find out what room we were in and call me to tell me! He even offered to bring it up to our room! What a legend! We will be back just to see our new friend! Hold on to him, he is a star employee and an asset to your business!
Highlights from the dinner included a delicate Hokkaido scallop ceviche served with a spring time Oolong foam and fresh ginger and hearty slow-cooked beef short ribs served with aromatic early grey waffle and root vegetables fresh from the garden.
Was in Crown this weekend, and decided to treat ourselves and splurge a little for dinner. We stumbled by Hive and decided to walk in, not having any reservations. We waited by the bar for 15 minutes listening to the live music, and was then promptly shown our table. We did the 3 courses (came with 2 wines) and had a great evening. We started with the chicken liver parfait (this was excellent, the texture was perfect without the bitter after taste of liver), and the tuna with sesame sauce (layers of textures but lack a little flavour), followed by Sirlion Steak (nicely cooked), and the Pork Belly (another exceptional dish, meat was super tender and flavorsome, and the skin was a perfect crisp) then followed by the caramelised banana (yummy and gooey) and the brûlée (this was a bit of a miss. A bit of a mess). We chased these down with some wines and muscatos, and had a beautiful time. Food was largely on point, with great flavours and the service prompt and friendly. Will be back!
Visited the restaurant for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation but was quickly seated. Very classy and spacious interior. Waiters were very friendly and informative. We had the 2 course meal (main and dessert) which was very good value. The steak was beautifully done and well presented. Portion size of the sides are very small though, only 2 polenta chips and 3 cherry tomatoes. I had frozen brûlée for dessert. It was delicious. Others enjoyed their meals also.
We had an absolutely exceptional dinner here. From the delicious cocktails we sipped whilst listening to the brilliant live music post dinner to the utterly outstanding desserts. Just visually stunning works of art and entirely delectable. We had a couple of yummy savoury (actual dinner) options before moving right along to the main event. We each got a tasting board which is the chefs selection of three desserts. Honestly the chocolate bar was just heavenly. It had us seriously wondering if said chef was single.
Brilliant ambiance and we would certainly return. It’s got cheat day written all over it
We came here for a birthday dinner last night. The staff were great and the "VICTORIA BY THE GLASS" menu is very good value. It's available Monday to Friday: 2 courses + 1 glass wine for $55 or 3 courses + 2 glasses wine $65.
The salmon, pork belly and duck were perfectly cooked. My friends said the steak was average. Dessert was excellent.
went here for a fancy dinner, on arrival asked for a table for two, the girl goes do you have a booking, we said no and it felt like she judged us by instead of taking us to the table to look at the menu, she rudely goes do you want to see the menu outside the door first? so made us stand weirdly at the door looking at the menu when we already know we want to eat here. We then went inside where the restaurant was quite empty but she seated us in a tight corner next to others. We wanted to swap tables and had to call out for her many times for her to hear. Quite disappointed with the service from this rude girl. The other waiters though were great, asked us how our meal was and very attentive! The food itself was great, i thoroughly enjoyed my entree and main. I got scallops and that was seared to perfection. I had salmon for dinner and salmon was moist and nice, smooth pureed sauce. Though the broccoli on the plate did made it looked a little cheap. Overall, I would come back here again for the food and the live music which made the ambience of the restaurant very enjoyable!
We celebrated an early Father's day here, did an online booking last night. No hassle we got a confirmation right away. We arrived 5 mins early and were quickly escorted to our table, perfect. The food were all delicious, and their staff are friendly. We really had a great time tonight.
Went there last night for desserts it was delicious🍴👍 There was live music on sat night, i had the berry panacotta and bergamote curd. Both were light and served in small severing so i was able to have more 😝
These chefs know what they're doing in that kitchen!
Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks selection... just bring great guests!
Recommend you try as much as possible to maximise your experience.
Mr. Hive runs the room service at crown Metropol not everyday do I get that option to get food delivered to the room while in my pjs. The breakfast I ordered had the lot but its was'nt anything special quite average. Great presentation though..
A group of us dined at Mr Hive last Friday and the food, service and ambiance was perfect! Most of us opted for the set menu and the food was amazing and great value! The duck and dessert courses were a highlight but it was all very delicious. The service was fantastic with the waiter very attentive to our needs and great for making sure our table's dietary requirements were catered for. The chefs even went to the trouble of coming out to explain the dishes, which was a lovely touch! The happy hour also offered some great value drinks. Would definitely recommend!

What a beautiful way to start the day, Breakfast at Mr Hive . Breakfast was really nice I had the light breakfast with poached eggs and salmon, eggs cooked to perfection and the salmon you can taste is a good quality. Coffee need a big lift up guys.
Jino has made our dinning experience unforgettable at Mr Hive on 4th Feb. Very attentive, friendly, professional and good sense of humour. Thank you so much for your exceptional service Jino!
We came here for Christmas Eve dinner. Staffs were friendly and helpful. The food was good but took a bit long to come! Dessert was good but very small portion. It's a little pricey compared to other casual dining restaurants in the area. Overall, it was a good place to celebrate a special occasion.
What we ordered:
- SAN PELLEGRINO (sparkling mineral water 1L) | $12.50
- CROQUETTE | $18.00
- SALMON | $32.00
- SIRLOIN | $45.00
- PORK CUTLET | $35.00
- FRIES | $10.00
- CHOC BAR PEANUTS | $18.00
- RASP MARGARITA | $19.00
Amazing food, spacious venue, good service.
We decided to choose Mr Hive as our place to celebrate Christmas Eve and we were so glad to find out that was a right decision.
We booked a table for two a few days in advance and were quickly led to our spot when arrive.
We started the evening with some bread and butter. The butter was quite good, smooth and tasted cultured. The bread was okay as well but we wish they would cut it into slices beforehand, just so we could avoid dropping so much crumbs when breaking it by hand.
We got the foie gras parfait as our entree and boys it was good. The parfait was super silky smooth and tasted amazing. The lightly sweet rhubarb jam went incredibly well with the foie gras to enhance the overall taste. Some nut crumbs was also lightly sprinkled around the parfait to provide contrasting texture. The toasted brioche was slightly crunchy and quite light with subtle buttery taste - when spreaded with jam and parfait - delivered a melting sensation in your mouth. Solid 4/5 dish!
For the mains, Hannah grab the King Salmon, which was again delectable. The fish was tender, fatty, and went well with the accompanying sauce. It was fragrant and not dry at all. The skin was fried to provide light crunchiness in texture. Another 4 stars dish.
Luke got the 400gr rib-eye which was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The meat was very tender, juicy, and lightly smoky which went well with the jus provided. One happy meat-lover!
For desserts we shared the popular chocolate bar and hell it was smashing. The choco bar was smooth in texture and balanced in taste, combined with the slightly sandy and crunchy peanut butter base, delivering a killer combo. The bar was not too sweet, not too thick, too heavy, or too overwhelming with chocolatey taste while the hint of peanut flavour really brought up the dish. The scoop of peanut butter ice cream also created some variances in texture and enhanced to whole dish. An awesome 4.5 dish!
You know how some of the breakfasts in hotels are not worth the money and just not up to quality? This is not one of them. I found food better than average. Pleasant surprise.
Went here for Christmas work function on a Friday night 02/12/2016 table of 10. We were sited in one of the 'private rooms'.
Decor: First impression modern, has a little bit of a rustic feel, lighting through the restaurant was appropriate to the time of the day...not too bright and not too dark. Our 'private room' was a nice big round table, liked the atmosphere it created haha the centre piece plant could have been better. It was too high I couldn't see the person opposite me, it wasn't particularly pretty either.
Service: Our waiter was very entertaining, he was such a good sport with all the exchanges of banter from most of the people in the table. He kept us entertained and did his best to keep us happy.
Few hiccups, waitress spilt beer on our practice manager. Which the waitress and floor manager was very apologetic. Table received a free wine bottle as a compensation.
There were times beers and cocktails ordered was a 30mins or more wait. In saying that there were times that the wait was very minimal.
The wait for the food, now that was a massive dismay. It was 1.5hr wait. We didn't order any entrees and went straight to mains and side dishes. It was a long wait, needless to say even the males of the table were getting very "hangry". Again our waiter was very good at keeping us distracted, we knew it was his fault it was the kitchens but oh man we were starving.
Food: When it finally came, it didn't disappoint. I ordered the spatchcock. I don't know why some reviews complained about the portion size in relation to the price. I personally think it's fine. Even the size of the sides are good. It's an upmarket casual dining. Meaning it's pricier than normal casual dinning places but it's all relative to the quality of the food. Portions size, quality of food and price for me is not a problem. Back to the spatchcock...umm yea they literally gave me the whole spatchcock! I was pleasantly surprised cause I was expecting to be served only half of the spatchcock. Beautifully presented, with house gravy on the side, that was a bit sweet for my liking. I was scared it would turn out dry. But the spatchcock was moist and very well seasoned. Had a very good burst of flavour. I was starving but I can only literally eat half of it.
Ordered the roasted carrots as a side...the baby carrots were cooked beautifully and had this semi sweet glazed to it.
4 of the 5 males in the table ordered rib eye medium rare...needles to say they demolished the steak and was very happy with how the meat was cooked. Perfect medium rare, quoting the waiter "It's how real men eat their steak". For $55 though one would expect them to properly cook it medium rare. My boyfriend otherwise would actually have returned his cause he doesn't like chewy steak. This is the only thing in the menu I would consider pricey. But for 400g of red meat and it's quality in a way worth the price.
Overall we were all happy with the food. We all wished we didn't have to wait that long though
Beverages: Free white wine was very good, even though it was free they still gave us one of the best in house white wine. Cocktails, highly recommend "The people's choice" taste great and has a bit of a kick after a while.
Desert: The chocolate bar was amazing!!! If your a sweet tooth it's a must!
We had a great time, the place has a nice atmosphere. I think having an amazing waiter made a difference. Gino was great to our table. Food wait was long, but it's not going to stop me from trying the place again.
Wow! Now this is good eating! First of all, we were greeted by a wonderful server named Jino. He was charming and lovely and really made our dinning experience a memorable one.
The food was to die for. Such a perfect place for a date, with amazing views and live music. A great cocktail menu and wine list to boot!
My partner and I had dinner here on Saturday night and we didn't realise that the restaurant was quite big! From the front, it looks relatively small but there is a larger area towards the back of the venue.
We were placed in a booth that could sit 4 people and we were promptly given the menus to gloss over. The waiter was great (though quite nervous) and was able to recommend us a few items. We decided to get the chicken with the chorizo, etc. followed by the scallops and beef croquette for our entrees. The chicken chorizo was pretty good and definitely something that I don't usually order. It was served with rocket and sliced apple on the side. The beef croquette was also nice and the meat wasn't dry at all - as a fan of cheese, it would have been better if there was a bit more of it but that's just personal preference. I was worried about the scallops due to the past reviews on this site but these weren't dry and tasted great. However, the vinegar on the cauliflower was a bit too strong for my liking.
For our mains, we decided to share the lamb rack and the pork belly. The lamb rack definitely needed a bit more sauce but it was definitely cooked to our liking - medium rare. The pork belly would probably have been one of the best ones I've tasted in a while - the miso sauce that accompanied it was light and helped to balance the heaviness of the meat. The skin was 100% crispy and was amazing.
For dessert, we had the tasting board. This consisted of the chocolate bar, a slice of a pistachio cake of some sort and a coconut pudding of some sort. The chocolate bar and the pudding were amazing, but I was't a bit fan of the pistachio cake - my partner was though.
Overall, I'd have to say I enjoyed my night here - the staff were amazing, the ambiance was nice and the food was great. However, the bill can get quite steep here even with the 25% entertainment card that we had, so it's not a place I'll visit regularly.
Me and 2 friends went there for dinner, and we really amazed with the ambiance and level of service. The food we had, Pork Belly and Fish, was so good. The waiter who handled us has a good sense of humour and strong knowledge of the menu. Live music also made our dinner time perfect. Will be back again next time.
Great place. The food and wine has been a winner always. Especially the service! A shame the ribs has left the menu because of San Antone. Otherwise everything is a winner. Recommended the lemon meringue and chocolate bar.
Look maybe because we were at crown we had higher expectation. Beautiful dining room and service. The food was good but we did not get wowed by any means.
DO: The salt pepper calamari, wagyu sliders, scallops, pork belly or king salmon.
DON'T: Forget about the famous Mr Hive chocolate bar. Delicious.
TIP: A little hard to find. Park at Crown Metropol. Remember your Crown Rewards card for free parking
Two visits to mr hives and both were great. I had the salmon both times I went there as I am obsessed with the cauliflower and the sauce it comes with. Another must would be the apple mousse. The flavours are excellent
Beautiful yet simple modern Australian food. In a warm feeling dining room we were greeted with friendly service we ordered and our entree were out shortly after. Three courses were very good and will be back to try more.
4.5/5 - What a beautiful establishment for a celebration!
Staying at Crown for an anniversary the gorgeous staff up in the Crown business club also work here too so was good to see some familiar faces!
We reserved a spot and got a great table - champagne list is to be expected pricey as hello you're in Crown and have a premium on everything.
Being allergic to fish meant a lot of the entrees were not for me but the bread they bring out - oh it's heavenly! The roast chicken and jus was so tender and tasty, the chips crunchy and the beans and almonds a hit.
But the stand out here is the service - such lovely staff and they'll go the extra mile to ensure you have what you want and leave happy (especially with food intolerances and allergies)
Pics to come !
Great presentation throughout the whole night. Pan fried barramundi was amazing the beetroot side was delish. The sweet potato chorizo combo side was a bit dryish and sort of heavy for the fish fish - probably I made a wrong choice. The pear dessert was amazing. Well done all around. Was a bit hungry on the end, but just had another dessert on the strip later ;p
Ps: let me mention that the host was amazing.
The morning buffet at this restaurant is really good. All food is freshly served. Especially you can grab top class omelette and hot cakes here. Must go if you ate staying at Crown Metropol or nearby.
We had our first year anniversary here and it was a really good experience. This is a very late post, 3 years later but better late then never! At the time my partner wasn't into premium/ fancy dining but this place changed his mind plus I paid :P just so he can have a pleasant experience and in the future we could go more often :D Each dish was delicious and dessert was amazing! The only problem is the dessert chef wasn't clear when he explain to us if we would like to sample another dessert (we thought just a taste test) which he made the whole dessert and afterwards we then had to pay for that too! Nevertheless, great experience and due to home back soon! It's also on the entertainment book which was a bonus!
Great option for a really different dinner with lots of complex tastes and presentation. Can be a bit pricey but otherwise it is a great restaurant and bar.
What a wonderful meal. Tha staff, the food and the location make this place a night to remember...recommend this place to anyone..mother in law from Ireland has even raved on about this place back to her friends in Galway..
Came here for Christmas dinner as we had opted for pick your own food rather than a Buffet which is generally what you get on Christmas Day dinner. The food was pretty good and we got seated in our own private section as we had a group of 9. (bit nostalgic as this is the same place I sat when it was Gordon Ramsey's restaurant - Maze) The interior has remained the same, it's layout is quite cool and trendy. Our server for the night was great, he was eccentric and knowledgeable about the menu that they had to offer.
Had dinner here recently. Good food, friendly service and a good time to be had. A good selection of food, and the waitstaff provided some helpful guidance about the menu.
Just loved it, Our waiter was a blast and along with the tasty food and crisp cold beer he made our evening one to remember......Hidden Gem but worth searching for....
Ordered:Entree;
- Jumbo prawns, garlic, avocado & lemon
- Chicken chorizo, prosciutto, terrine, corn relish
Main;
- Lamb rump, carrot, sugar snaps, hazelnut
- Crispy otway pork belly, lentils, squash & sage
Sides;
- Rocket, nashi, feta, walnut
- Hand cut chips
The service and food were splendid and made the experience one to never forget. The pork belly is highly recommended as the crackling is super crunchy whilst the meat is super tender (eat it fast before the meat hardens). The salad (side dish) should be given extra attention as it's tangy and the combo of feta and walnut was a good mix!
This hidden bar (I love hidden places away from the madding crowd!) is found down one of the many corridors at Crown, above the Crown Metropole Hotel and not far from the rear Crown car park.
The feel here is very up-market, but casual at the same time. They have a great wine list, with local and international wines, good beers on tap and a well thought out bar menu for snacks and light meals. They also have an interesting cocktail list.
On this occasion my partner and I sat at the bar and had drinks with a yummy pizza and a sensational serve of very tender calamari for our pre-movie snack.
There were quite a few small groups and couples in attendance, but the noise levels were low and we could comfortably talk, which is always a plus at this type of venue.
The staff here are very professional and attentive, everything you would expect from a venue like this.
I recommend seeking this place out next time you are at the Crown complex.
One of a top class restaurant in Crown. The food were delicious, service was great, we ordered the Lamb rump, carrots, sugar snaps, hazelnuts ($32), NZ Ora King Salmon, Spiced Cauliflower, Karkalla ($32), Hand Cut Chips ($9), Mandarin Cheesecake, Earl Grey, Puff Rice ($15) and a glass of wine and beer. Total spent for the night was $107 - it's worth going for that special occasion!
Went here for breakfast and it was really good. Wife selection from the buffet with their own muesli, smoothies, plenty of fresh fruit, and the cooked selection was good too.
This restaurant has a large bar and nice decoration, although it was a little bit dark inside the restaurant. The staff were friendly and the service was nice. As for the Food, it was quite good, especially the dessert tasting board, it was the best dessert to try. Food price was reasonable. The rib eye steak and fish dishes were good.
