A very chilled hangout spot for some nice drinks with friends. Great cocktails, will definitely be coming here again.
Not sure on what to have for lunch, pass by this restaurant and why not?! We ordered the crispy King Salmon & charred chicken salad. The food is good, just that the chicken is a bit too dry for us, other than that everything is good. Service is good too 💚
We stopped into Left Bank for a few drinks on a lazy Sunday afternoon, and decided to also grab some snacks. This bar is perfectly located at Southbank, along side the river, and has fantastic views of the city and pasding foot traffic. The bar is quite large, with lovely, modern furniture and a cool vibe.
It was quite busy as it was a sunny afternoon, but there was enough staff to make sure we received everything promptly. The bartenders were friendly and made us feel welcome.
We had a few snacks. Some arancini that were crunchy and tasty, a bowl of crispy chips and some sliders. The mini burgers were good, but could have used some more sauce, although they were very cheesy.
Left Bank is certainly a pleasant bar, and I could think of worse ways to spend an afternoon. With it's fun ambience and friendly staff, we will be back again.
Went with two mates for the Melbourne Cup lunch. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and attentive, and it was just an all round great experience. Looking forward for upcoming mid week catchups with friends, as we loved it that much. Will be back for next years Cup day too.

Came to this place for Friday afternoon drink with some work colleagues. They are running special promotions with 50% all foods and beverages. Nice selections of wine and it's good quality too. We ordered some nibbles and few bottles of pinot noir to share. Nice ambience and good services.
I visited this place for a friend's birthday and we has a great time. The food is really Amazing with great options for vegetarians as well. Absolutely loved their Gnocchi. One of the best I had in a long time. The service was excellent as well. Great atmosphere. I would definitely visit again.

Affordable dining overlooking the Yarra on Southbank.
Friendly, efficient staff. Calamari salad was outstanding, generous portion, fresh & tasty & the calamari were very tender. Angus beef sliders were also a hit.
Great place to sit & enjoy a meal and a drink from their extensive drink menu.
Service was great. Food was good too, the spaghetti with prawns and mussels were nice, and so was the pizza. However as an overall experience it’s nothing special. Maybe because it looks like a noisy canteen, but it just feels so anonymous. So I would say it’s good for a dinner with colleagues but if you want to have a date or a romantic night with your special one that’s definitely not the place.
Impeccable service, lovely dining environment next to the Yarra River, food were up to standard. I especially like the barramundi, it was seasoned very well with a pinch of salt, fish skin was pan-fried to crispy, the barley underneath are fully soaked in the flavoirful seafood broth.
Left bank is a swish riverside cafe/bar on Southbank , with views of the promenade and the Yarra. There is a covered outdoor area for al-fresco dining, and a large inside dining space. The table settings comprise smart stone faux marble tables, with gold coloured modern steel chairs and a plush white bench. Some low level funky grooves helped set the ambience. I selected the smashed avo dukkha with a side of sautéed mushrooms, which was attractively presented and very tasty, and the coffee was well brewed and served at an appropriate temperature. The service was courteous and attentive, and waiting staff smartly attired. Good spot for a meal.

After my last high tea experience, Left Bank kindly invited my group back for a complimentary high tea. I was really pleased that they provided this offer for my group of 13, and 10 of us took them up on their offer. Left Bank’s assistant manager informed me that they would take our feedback on board.
I am so pleased that they actually listened to me! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so happy that my review inspired you to step it up and listen to feedback. Now Left Bank has an incredible high tea which could make themselves tough competition for other high tea venues, especially at $39 per person.
Comparing my old photos to what I saw today, wow you can see the change! All tea varieties except for one were available and we all got glass teapots!!! OMG! Our table actually cheered! Left Bank also offers something unique with their teas - they have blossom teas which open up as a flower when they are placed in water - absolutely beautiful!
The desserts - oh my gosh, they were fresh!! The chocolate cake thing was our favourite and the macaroons were so much better than the last ones we had at Left Bank! We couldn’t fault any of the desserts!! Savouries were great too.
And the scones!!! The scones were warm!!! Yes! And we had cream and jam, and we could put the jam and cream on the scones ourselves! The scones were also very fresh.
What an exciting day this was! It shows that when a venue listens to advice they can achieve something incredible!
Thank you Left Bank for inviting us and proving you could create a wonderful high tea experience. Original score was 3.0, well done Left Bank you are now getting a 5.0!

Left Bank has started serving high tea every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Interestedly enough we were the only diners at the time ordering high tea. We were a group of 13 people. At first we were impressed by the extensive range of tea options however only two varieties of tea from the list were available to order. By the time my tea order was taken one of those teas had run out so I could only order the strawberry black tea. There were also not enough beautiful clear teapots for everyone, only for half the table. I find it odd that we were the only ones ordering high tea yet the venue had run out of the nicer teapots and had only one or two teas to choose from. This is not normal.
The scones were the most disappointing aspect of our high tea. For some reason Left Bank thinks it’s a good idea to cut the scone for us and add the jam and cream for us. Unacceptable. At high tea we should be able to choose how much cream and jam are on our scones. There was not much cream on the scones at all, and the seasoned preserves looked to be jam from the jar.
Savouries were nice especially the blue swimmer crab charcoal slider.
Sweets were disappointing. They reminded me a lot of store brought desserts available at the supermarket.
Still for $39 Left Bank provides a lot of food and it’s one of the few cheaper high teas that provide sparkling wine so it’s not all bad. However some of the high teas around the same price at other venues are a lot better.
I understand high tea is a new thing at Left Bank and I hope they can improve their high tea. It’s good to see them doing something different. Plus I like that the area is quiet so it’s easy to talk to friends.

After a much needed uplift to their food offering and venue, Left Bank Melbourne has really managed to turn itself around for the better and has become a much loved dining and cocktail destination on Southbank. At Left Bank Melbourne, you can sit back and enjoy their fantastic location overlooking the Yarra River and take in the stunning city skyline views, over a much needed cup of coffee or one of their many stunning signature cocktails, wines, beers or spirits selections.
Every time I have strolled this way with mates, trying to work out where to go... we always end up at Left Bank. Friendly service, drinks list is pretty incredible, never had any faults with food *i wish I had photos but It's usually the last thing I'm thinking about when at Left Bank*
Pro's: Good Selection of drinks, friendly service without bombarding you every 5 minutes, outdoor area, nice decor & room to move.
Con's: Pricey *Come to expect down this strip*, I could be living under a rock but the menu seems to stay the same (bland)? Or it's just been really, really simple menu items *Could be vamped up a bit*

Absolutely loved this dish, you know that satisfaction you get when you take the first bite of your food and you’re like oooo that’s chilli, but then all of a sudden it simmers down... and you’re like yep just right 👌 Well that’s what I felt when I took a sip of that curry, just so well content and full of flavour, and the barramundi melting in your mouth. Left me craving another spoonful after each bite. Definitely recommend it. A Nice local restaurant near the Yara river. The outside area have a good river view but better sit here at summer. It is easy to approach. Recommend very juicy mini Burger and diet pasta. Pizza is little thick and tasteless for me yet.
5/5 for the brilliant service. I am very sensitive to chilli and did not note that the dish I ordered (prawn and mussel spaghettini) had chilli in it. When I queried it the waiter (female, English but, I forgot to grab her name!) kindly offered to take it away and ask the kitchen to remake without the chilli. I happily accepted the offer. When the dish came out again, without chilli, it was delicious however, a couple of the mussels were bad. I stopped eating and brought this to their attention. Again, brilliant service. They took the complaint seriously and did not charge for that dish. The rest of the food was lovely. Marked 4/5 as the kitchen should’ve spotted at least 1 of the bad mussels but, the front of House were great. Thank you.
I came here for a group dinner last week and was very impressed. We asked for some share plates for the table to start. The bread, dips and mixed olives were well presented and really lovely. I moved on to the vegetarian gnocchi for main course which was tasty, rich and very filling. Anyone who thinks vegetarian food is boring needs to taste this. I didn’t need a dessert but everyone else was having one so I decided on the rhubarb and raspberry tart. Once again the portion size was great and the flavours were lovely. It was probably a bit too creamy for my liking. I would have liked it to be fresher and lighter. I also found the pastry to be a strange texture. It was very firm rather than a traditional short crust. This made it difficult to cut. Despite these minor flaws it was still very good. Staff were also friendly and helpful and I loved the Southbank location.
The truffle croquettes...just amazing!! Service is really good here and staff are friendly. Calamari was nice, good seasoning...but I’ve had better salumi plates. Nice venue and great atmosphere.
Sunday morning brunch for four people was pleasant. We sat inside in air conditioned comfort that proved a good decision as the sun crept over the outside seating. I had poached eggs salmon on rye - very tasty. The service was ok - attentive. Our brunch lasted 2 hours - chatting eating and drinking coffee without any pressure to move on. It cost 135.00 for four which was reasonable.
If you want to have a drink in a great location in one of Melbourne’s prettiest areas then head here. Right on the river near Southbank so you’re a skip from crown and a bunch of other bars and restaurants. These guys serve a mean cocktail!
Ordered the boss there, the meat patty was so juicy not dry at all. The tomato relish and the mayonnaise which were dressed up on the burger were brilliant. Also got the dessert left bank tiramisu, it tasted so creamy. Gonna go there again
Place has been refurbished. Looks good and the food looks great. Didn’t eat but had a drink there today. Been here for drinks in the past too and the Pizza was great then. Will give the food a try as it looks great in the near future for sure
I attended Left Bank for a Christmas lunch with a group of colleges. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the venue and the staff were friendly.
For entree, a friend and I shared the scallops and confit chicken croquettes. The scallops were alright, but the chicken croquettes were the stand out of the two - the lettuce, smoked speck and sauce complimented the croquettes perfectly.
For the main I got the soft shell crab tagliatelle. The crab was nice but sadly the rest of the dish was bland and lacked flavour. I couldn't taste any chilli or garlic.
A friend ordered the white truffle gnocchi which she allowed me to try - it was delicious. The sauce was beautiful and I even put some of the sauce onto my pasta to add flavour to the dish.
I would highly recommend the croquettes and gnocchi if ordering off the Noon Edition menu.

Summer is here!! FINALLY! What better way to spend it than with brunch looking out over the Yarra in the sunshine? (I dare you to try and find a better activity for a Saturday or Sunday). Left Bank is one such spot that offers up some awesome, really well priced and delicious brekky options while you sit out on their deck and soak up the atmosphere.
Blueberry and ricotta hotcakes for those with a slightly sweeter tooth will certainly fill you up. Healthy options like their granola clusters or salmon and lemon curd with beautifully poached eggs, there's something for everyone on this menu. Can't decide? They also offer a 66 degree board to share that will cover anything you could crave pre-lunch.
If you're not up early enough for breakfast, perhaps lunch or dinner by the river is more your speed? An extensive cocktail and wine list is also on offer if a pit stop and cold drink is on the cards. A short walk from Flinders Street Station and a stone's throw from Crown, Left Bank is in the heart of Southbank's re-emerging entertainment area. With a few new places opening along the promenade, the atmosphere in this pocket of Melbourne is vibrant and lively.
If you're visiting Melbourne or showing visitors around, or even a local looking for a new spot - Left Bank should definitely be on your list of relaxing places to stop for a bite!
Good presentation, but the taste was just above average. Hash brown was nice. My friend who had muesli said it was too sweet. It’s more like touristy place to go.
Steak cooked pretty well with a side of broccoli. Steak was cut so thin though so it seemed like I was slicing through a piece of paper. Was nice without being great. Don’t think I’ll be back for the food
Really fancy and classy atmosphere with a cheap lunch menu considering its position on Southbank. The express lunch includes 6 or so dishes that are available for a quick lunch with an alcoholic drink. Yummy but a tad on the small side but expected considering how quickly it came out. Would recommend if you want a place to impress in a rush or a couple of drinks after work.
Popped down for a trendy Friday lunch with some work colleagues. Left bank offer a special lunch menu which includes a wine or beer. Food was delicious, wine was refreshing and the ambience was great. And great strategically placed heaters to ensure take the chill off the autumn temperature
Great atmosphere, was sitting inside and the music was not too loud which made conversation easy. The food came quickly and was yummy. The waitress was very patient and polite.
Was so happy when paying the bill to find that the entire meal was 1/2 price due to their renovations (which we didn't even spot!) will try come back before this deal finishes early October.

Popped in for lunch to escape the rain and wind today. We selected a high table close to the heaters and watched the wet weather.
Menus and water were brought to the table. We selected a cocktail and glass of sparkling wine while we perished the menu.
The lunch specials appealed and came with a drink- either wine or a cider. I chose a divine pumpkin and feta risotto with micro herbs. My partner selected a grilled calamari salad- healthy option. As I was hungry I suggested we also order the beetroot, warm walnut and broccolini salad. All meals were presented beautifully and arrived together. Another glass of bubbles went down well.
On time- the rain stopped and we paid the very reasonable bill and were on our way. Quick efficient service is welcome especially for office workers with limited time to enjoy lunch.
Lefty is the local watering hole for work and great for a wine-down. It's a big step up from your average bar food. The salads are HUGE and never disappoint. If you're after a nibble with drinks, you can't go wrong with the dips platter and calamari!
To celebrate my bestfriend's birthday, I booked a table at this restaurant. We werent sure what to expect since neither of us have been here before. The restaurant has an amazing view of the city. The food and the drinks were fantastic. And the staffs are very friendly. Thank you for making my bestfriend's birthday dinner a memorable one !
Was a little sceptical as to what to expect after reading reviews but it was an amazing night! To start we shared squid and arancini balls both are a must! My sirloin steak was divine!

Wonderful place to have dinner for a fun night with friends ! Ordered a pizza to share, as well as Prawn Spaghettini, Steak, Chicken Confit, and Pumpkin Ravioli. All were superb, and made within 15 minutes of ordering! Service was a bit slow (normal for a Saturday night) - but their manners were impeccable when they had time to get to you table. Great!
My wife and I had a wonderful time on our date night coming to Left Bank, although finding a parking spot was quite difficult we were still pleased with the ambience of the staff, food and atmosphere. Only thing that I could complain on was that the cocktails took longer than they should have and were a bit overpriced for what we got but our lovely Spanish Waitress apologized and kept us satisfied and the food did not disappoint.
Will we be back? Most definitely.

Very few times I think in Whole of my eating out life, I have come across such disappointment. Food was great, but staff, never seen such rude (not verbally but general behaviour) staff. Not sure if it was us that triggered something, or if the waitress was having a bad day. Whatever it was, we did not let it ruin our night. Highly recommended for food...had tacos, veggie pizza, lamb shoulder pizza and chicken curry. Tacos and chicken curry were scrumptious!! Minus the staff my rating is above 3.5.

One of the best seafood experience I had in Melbourne. Seafood is fresh and of the highest quality. From prawn cocktail, swimmer crab, crab slider, prawn brioche, I am in seafood heaven! My favourite will be their perfectly deveined prawn cocktail with dipping sauce!
This is a very buzzy, vibey, hip place along Southbank. Very popular with all ages & we were lucky enough to score a table along the walkway so as to watch the passing crowds. Extensive wine & cocktail list. We had the green chicken curry & beef bbq ribs & both were fantastic. Bring your appetite as the servings are very very generous.
A rainy Sunday night, 7 of us called in for drinks & nibbles. Without a booking we were sat at the long table with high stools in front of the bar. Staff made good suggestions on which share plates to order. Salt & Pepper Calamari, Arancini & Sliders were great.
Great place to hang out after work with few beers with mate and finger food. Service and food was great highly recommend on nice sunny day.
Great venue with a really good vibe, came here for Friday night after work bite and drinks. The cocktail I had was really enjoyable along with the chicken salad I had. The salad ingredients were fresh and the chicken was so tender and succulent. Service was friendly and helpful and I would come back again.
Food was good and despite them having no record of the booking for 4 out of the 6 people attending (we had to wander the restaurant looking for our party) the service was ok. Everyone enjoyed their food, which included oysters, spicy chicken salad and green curry
We came here for a family dinner on a Friday night, as I saw it was kid friendly on zomato and had a kids menu. Probably not the best idea as it was packed with people enjoying Friday night drinks!
Food wise, the Spanner Crab Ravioli was delightful, deliciously coated in a Riesling crème clam bisque! Yum! Just as tasty was the Beetroot salad, with little candied walnuts and goats cheese.
My partner wasn't as keen on the King Prawn and Scallop spaghetti but still enjoyed the meal. Lastly, the Flourless Dark Chocolate Hot Pot was super chocolatey and moorish but only slightly gooey in the centre!
Overall, tasty food with a beautiful view of Southbank, but maybe save dinner here for another night and enjoy Friday night drinks instead (the espresso martinis are delicious!)

Ho Ho Ho Lunchers. It's a punk rock Christmas. The Dear Luncher recently celebrated the Democratic Republic of Lunchistan's Christmas lunch at Left Bank. Left Bank is wonderfully situated on Southbank Boulevard (I WALK A LONELY ROAD). It's a rather large venue catering to all sizes and all manner of events. It's well appointed. Great decor, nice vibe (Mabo etc) all-round.
It was a two course meal with drink - fairly good value at $40. To commence proceedings Your Dear Luncher scoffed down the chicken lollypops. These were essentially chicken drumsticks, carved and crafted in such a manner so as to appear as lollypops. This is an excellent idea and more people should do it. Meat lollypops. These were consumed in approximately 10 seconds, they were delightful. The main was Black Angus Rump served with potatoes that were bathed in some kind of delicious mustard-creamy sauce.
Also pictured is a ceviche dish that a colleague consumed.
Food excellent, service excellent. Drinks prices a little OTT but that's to be expected in Southbank.
One of my regular venues. Good food and drinks, great to come down on a Friday night after work as it's a large venue amidst the busy life of southbank. Close to public transport which is great for visitors.

love to come here and have breakfast with my wife. Nice and fresh food but I have to said the coffee is very inconsistent one time is good and if you order another coffee you cannot drink it. where there is good food you must finish with a great coffee.
Great vibe about the place, right on the Yarra, outdoor heaters, fabulous food, great place to kick back and have a few drinks and food. The Scallop and Rock Lobster spaghettinis is to die for.
Great bar and great spot for a drink. We went with a large group on a Saturday night and had a really good night sitting out on the patio. Food overall is ok maybe 3/5 so if your looking for an awesome meal maybe not, but for a good night out with good atmosphere and a good enough feed I would recommend.
A great place just next to Yarra River. Nice ambience. Staff is very helpful and cheerful. The service is quite fast. The outdoor seating with a view of city across the river is amazing.
If you like vegetarian food, do try grilled Broccoli. Salt n pepper Calamari is a must. If you like beer, try Furphy crisp lager. If you like cocktails, Charlie Chaplin is a recommended one.
Went for a bottomless brunch, and have 0 regrets. Cocktails were great and the food was to die for. Definitely a good idea to share the meals, as some can be a bit small. The atmosphere was awesome and the music definitely gets you groovin!

First time dinning at Left Bank was on Sunday the 15th, Sophie was our waiter and she was bloody amazing. Wonderful service, always smiling and made sure we were okay. I came back to dine again today hoping to see her because her service was amazing, unfortunately it was her day off. It’s those type of service that makes you feel like you’re at home, and you have a feel like you belong there.
Speed of the service will vary based on how busy the venue is, so I recommend ordering some drinks while waiting for your meal. Overall, amazing experience and will be coming back again for the oyster, it’s a must try!
Had the Bottomless brunch here last weekend. Probably one of the best ones we’ve tried (we’ve been to a few). Staff were soo friendly! Large variety of food options! Drinks service was a lot quicker than most bottomless brunch places. Highly recommend! Will definitely be returning.
The outdoor seating at the restaurant had a good view. We got a seat quickly and the hostess and wait staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. The waiter went to double check my order was Gluten Free everytime I asked when a dish came out. The wine selection is extensive and organized by types like light aromatic, whites with texture etc 😊 They have a very extensive bar menu which is great!
The Arancini cakes were so tasty and best of all Gluten Free! The calamari too was yummm and well cooked and crumb fried with Gluten free crumbs. The Pork and Beef mains were well cooked and the sauces were flavourful. The salted caramel Torte being Gluten Free was a pleasant surprise.
Overall a great place for views and good Gluten Free food!

I ordered the same dish that I ordered two weeks back: a large plate of Snapper. Why the same dish while I could order a different Friday? Well, how do you find out about the consistency of a meal then? I was certainly impressed.
Everything else that we ordered including the side dish of kalamari (OMG! That's a must try!), The chips (don't order if you are on diet. They are irresistible.), and the prawn spaghettini were absolutely delicious.
So, the experience was once again excellent.
Another word for John & Vince - I noticed that they were looking after all patrons equally and seemed genuinely interested in making it a good experience for all. Thank you again John and Vince!

I usually do not have high hopes for good service and tasty food at restaurants which are too crowded. Left Bank surprised me on my visit yesterday. I went there with a group of my colleagues.
When we reached the restaurant, we were greeted and welcomed. We had more people than the number a table was reserved, and the restaurant manager quickly arranged for additional chairs and tables to accommodate us. When staff are laughing with you, that's a sign of good hospitality and their own sense of service. A plus!
Drinks service was super fast. You order through a QR code at your table, which is a convenient way to ensure you get the right order. Although personally I do not like to share my information.
Food: Entrees were quickly served. Broccoli never disappoints me, but sadly the grilled/lightly roasted broccoli tasted bland. A hint of salt or some sauce can transform it.
For mains, I ordered Snapper and my goodness, I never had such a delicious snapper before! The combination of potatoes, crab, spices and sauce was amazing. Kudos to the Chef!
My colleagues enjoyed their meals too.
Vibe: Left Bank has a welcoming, upbeat vibe. And I guess a lot of it is because of its serving staff. They all seemed busy yet happy. A smile makes all the difference, isn't it?
Ambiance is great. I loved the decor and how the seating arrangement has been made which leaves enough room for people to roam around or sit comfortably.
