Popped in with the family on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We all enjoyed our meals and service and mentioned that to the staff as we were leaving.
Would highly recommend Perkup Burgers for breakfast. Cheers.
I come here for years, they have the best ricoffee in Melbourne, the tastiest breakfast and the service is always impeccable. The location very central, easy to find. The best about this venue is the team, each member of it is your best friend: you could not be more welcome.
Thank you
Mariana Amar
I had an AMAZING breakfast here today. I am ketogenic and eat low carb, it's not easy to find somewhere to eat on the run. The staff were really helpful and made my Eggs Benedict without bread. AMAZING food and service.
Love this place great food, great atmosphere, great staff and not to expensive
Customer service is their thing, always friendly and fast. Really good coffee and a nice variety of food their breakfasts are the best.
Delicious tasty fresh burgers (I had the grilled chicken - yummy) and great coffee - had a few of those during our stay in Melbourne. Open very early for a cuppa, with very friendly staff. All round great spot.
Cosy ambience, friendly service, best burgers to beat and don’t miss the signature coffees!
Amazing coffee, super amazing breakfast. Fast great service. Would do three square meals a day here if I was a local!! Delicious!
coffee is the best foood great service excellent and the staff friendly
These burgers might just pip the almighty huxta burger in fitzroy - yes friends these burgers are THAT good. Lovelly low fat patties with a great mix of condiment and vegies in each burger. The cheese makes it, and the dipping sauce that comes with the fries probably needs more herbs but I was stuffing this all down so fast it didnt bother me. Great menu choice nice and simple. Love it.
I was there twice , awesome tasty burgers and friendly people
Awesome burgers great service friendly staff would definitely eat here again
The Vegie burger with double patty is awesome! + good coffee
I grabbed a take away coffee from here. The service was friendly and efficient and they do a great deal on their take away coffee.
It’s all designed for people to grab n go for the people on the run, like me lol.
What I got was a latte, with full cream milk, already barista made for $2! That right, only $2. You can’t get variations, trust me I’ve tried hahaha.
But what I got again was a good barista made coffee, a nice coffee flavour, and the milk wasn’t heavy but tasty to me.
I’ve been here before and I’m goi g back again. Overall this place is a must visit if you want a quick morning take away coffee. Just have your $2 ready lol.
Got the Perkup burger - beef pattie, mayo, french mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles and tomato sauce. Big generous filling burger. Great for lunch. Always walked past this place and finally got to try it today!
4 stars for their friendly staff. I always go there on dinner time so it’s not packed, i think people normally buy coffees here since it’s just next Southern Cross station, i bet this place is going cray cray in the morning with office people lining up waiting for their coffees. The burger itself is too big for me to finish, but quite good for a quick dinner after work. I love sitting there with my hot chocolate.
Love the idea of latte-to-go that they have in the morning. I often had their coffee and I think they’re pretty good, I’m a fan of soy milk coffee so it’s exciting to know that they have Bonsoy and Vitasoy, you can choose whichever you like. Try their ice mocha, they don’t stir the chocolate which makes it even better. I enjoyed the chocolate syrup in it. Not to forget the lovely and friendly staffs. Will return for many times as I have asked for their loyalty card.
One of the best coffee I’ve tried in Melbourne.
I was skeptical at the beginning, but wow!
Coffee has a kick with dark roast coffee bean, the way I like it.
Piccolo was cheaper than any other cafe around and the service came with smile!
Great fast service, fresh orange juice, amazing coffee, best breakfast we have ever had ever in the history of the whole wide world and all the universe
Would recommend 10/10
Ordered the perkup burger, a bit too much mustard. Burger was also a bit dry. Price was really good though. Last issue would be that the water for the table was open and this resulted in it being a bit dusty.
There were a number of burgers I wanted to try from the menu as they all look good but have decided to be adventurous and try out the ‘Outback Burger’ which consist of a kangaroo patty, bush seasoning, lemon & parsley mayo, wild tomato relish, salad, Spanish onions and beetroot. Also ordered a side of French fries with a garlic aioli dip.
At first glance the burger patty looks small relative to the size of the bun. However it is full of flavour bite after bite. You can taste the savouriness from the mayo as well as from the herb and spice seasoning and also the slightly sweet and tangy relish; a truly well-seasoned burger. The patty itself is lean and meaty, complemented with beetroot to give some juiciness to the bite and the bun was not dry or thick. Then there was a mountain of fries taking up more than half the plate. The fries were perfectly cooked, crunchy and slightly seasoned with salt. They tasted great with the creamy garlic aioli as well but may not be the best option if you don’t want to be tasting garlic for the next few hours.
Overall the burger and fries were nicely flavoured and satisfying.
With everyone running around Melbourne in a panic in anticipation of a huge storm this weekend it’s no wonder that the queue at the door of Perkup Cafes TWO DOLLAR LATTE counter was large but steadily moving. I only had to wait a minute and a nice hot regular latte was in my hands and I was on my way dodging raindrops and wind blown umbrellas. In all seriousness though the coffee was pleasant and hot ... hotter than typically so they must make it that way in anticipation of some standing time.
If you have a regular milk latte and need a fix in the morning and don’t need some special alteration to your drink order then why wouldn’t you consider this option... a $2 latte!
In a city that has become over saturated with the burger obsession, Perk up still manage to take one step to the left and do it well. A small burger menu but well priced and good eats. Their breakfast and coffee don't match my wanky inner city sensibilities, but if you don't own an aeropress and get excited about where the beans come from. You'll find it good.
Great croissants.. OMG to die for. Love them when they warm it up. Coffee with a great taste. I cn go here anytime. Small sitting..no space for prams or big gatherings but take aways can b womderful.
There are so many reasons I love this place. It goes all day. I can grab a $2 latte (yes you read that right) in the morning and then grab lunch or dinner there again that night. Their sweet potato fries are super tasty and the burgers really big and good value.
Great little burger cafe. I had the Perkup Burger with Swiss Cheese & Chips which I thought was very good. The burgers are on regular burger buns (not brioche) and are fairly basic, however still very good. Uncomplicated burgers. Definitely worth a try and it comes with friendly service. There isn't a huge amount of table space so wouldn't come with more than 2-3 people.

I love this place. Everyone I go there it is amazing!
The coffee in the morning, burgers in the night.
And the fries, the friessssss. Omg. The fries. YES. ❤️
I swear you'd miss this place as I have every day for the past 12 months. We accidentally stumbled upon Perkup and their veggie burger and double Perkup with 2 patties and 2 bacon rashers. And their sweet potato chips with garlic aioli...nothing short of incredible!!
My love for sweet potato fries starts here.
House and kitchen staff were so cute and lovely.
I was pretty hungry so came in asking for their biggest gluten free burger. I was surprised that I couldn't finish the burger and fries that came out....
Cheese was pretty tasteless, Grill'd gluten free burger buns are better in my opinion.
Will be returning for chips!
Excellent veggie burger!! 😄 big crunchy veggie pattie was simply amazing! Not many burger places offer super yummy veggie burgers but perkup burgers are really nice! Go for it 😄👏
This one is another gem!
I loved the burgers, as they were not only gorgeous but super tasty! I especially liked the veg burger, and it tasted better than the chicken one! The pattie was crunchy and tasty, with a good mix of sauces!
Recommended!! :)
Great burger on par with your grill'd and Royal stacks in terms of quality. The fresh flavours and shutting out of the brioche bun is a big plus for me, and for anyone looking for a slightly less significant cardiac-arrest.
Dined here to see if it would be good to visit with the workplace gang, and although there's limited seating I 100% endorse and would visit this place with my most trusted (and untrusted) work pals.
4/5 only due to relatively high cost for any burger that isn't beef, but I'm sure those beef burgers would offer 5/5 satisfaction.
Loved the sweet potato chips here!! Had a little spicy sprinkles on them. Is to die for!! :D Burgers here are also awesome!! I've been here maybe 3-4 times so far? :D
It's a lovely bar. They decorate some nice pic on the wall. All the staff there provide friendly service. They make very juicy and tasty burger. The buns are soft which is my favourite. The teawear they use are really cute, it makes me only want to have tea but not any other drink there every time.
Mmmmm great burgers! Fun little café in the classic American style. The menu isn't very extensive, but the quality of the food was fresh (didn't fell like 'junk food') and the shoe string fries were perfect. The presentation was also really cute, on little trays with baskets for the chips and checkered napkins. The prices were pretty good too for a casual meal out. I recommend to try!
For the price of the burger, I really liked it. Soft bun with a bun of sauces and a decent sized beef patty. Nice quick bite at 4pm with no line and fast service. Will come back in the future.
Nice little burger joint just a short stroll from southern cross. Service was quick and staff was extremely polite but it was the burger I came for, I ordered their bacon burger and the moment it hit my tastebuds I fell in love. I can definitely see myself returning to Perkup
Funky little cafe. These guys make amazing coffee. Love their scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese on Turkish bread. Yum. Only wish they had a coffee card system.
Yuummm great burgers. Also do a great sweet potato fries. Sad that cheese is an extra $1 but wasn't on their online menu so I thought I was overcharged. Protip: order over phone beforehand because it takes ages even just for fries to come out. Better to phone ahead so you don't have to wait 15 mins for a burger/fries! Think the fries quantity has gone down lately but still really yummy. The sauces aren't worth it, you get such a tiny amount so avoid feeling ripped off and bring your own. Sweet potato fries so good no sauce required!
Got the Perkup Double Banger and it was game over. This is easily one of the best - if not the best - burgers in Melbourne. Patty was juicy and tasty. I did try the Chilpotle burger in their Degraves branch but won't be buying anything else from now on.
... this was a lovely coffee. It was a nice surprise, given I hadn't actually planned to buy a coffee at this place; it's just that its was next door to Purple Peanuts Japanese Cafe, and we'd felt like a coffee after our dinner one night. The coffee was good enough for me to
Perk Up is a little espresso bar located at 610 Collins street, just before the Spencer Street intersection. They’re a great little coffee place, but with a great variety of food for breakfast and lunch. My favorite part about the place, however, would have to be the music. They’re always playing some old fashioned Latino samba, so that by the time my coffee is ready my Chilean background has kicked in and I’m dancing along to the beat. It’s only a little embarrassing. Highly recommended for a quick coffee and snack. Their website is here .
I loved the Lindt tart. The chocolate tasted like the sweet Lindt chocolate that you would find in a Lindt shop.
Good coffee, good food just need to be mindful of where they keep their food!. Great place, get a coffee here every day and they have some great brekfast wraps. I used to buy them often however after seeing someone sneeze all over them (yes they are sitting in the open just near the cash register where people stand, order and pay for their order) i've now stopped buying them for fear of catching something. It would make a lot more sense if they put them behind the glass and put the neatly covered in plastic banana bread out where the wraps currently sit... that way everything would be nicely covered and there would be no fear of germs. It's a bit of a concern if they can't get that right.. but i'll continue to buy their coffee however thats where I put a stop to it (I'm sure their freshly ordered meals are fine).
Beautiful coffee definentley a perky cafe, and very helpful staff
Wonderful Burgers. Great burgers and sweet potato chips. Definitely would recommend people to eat here.:)
Excellent food, especially salads. Perkup serves food which is really good & always fresh. Prices are very reasonable. The salads are our favourite and we rate them as up there with the best in Melbourne. We also love the delicious sweet potato fries. The coffee, both hot & cold, are excellent & the best this part of town. The staff are helpful & provides top rate service. The manager, Sofia is always courteous & attentive to customers' needs. The proprietor, Oliver is friendly & unassuming. Open 7 days a week, we highly recommend Perkup to anyone looking for good food & coffee.
I've been a couple times for coffee before but finally tried one of their meals the other day - smashed avo on toast and sweet potato fries. So so good. One of the nicest avocado breakfasts I've ever had and the sweet potato fries were divine. Will definitely try and breakfast here more often.
Ever reliable. Across the road from The Dear Luncher's gulag, this place is ever reliable in the mornings; particularly when suffering from a hangover. The egg/bacon/cheese on Turkish always makes The Dear Luncher feel better.
They Perk Up as early as I rock up. I’d probably like Perk Up even if it didn’t open at 5:30 a.m. But the thing that attracts me to this place is IT OPENS AT 5:30 A.M.! I have to catch trains from Spencer Street Station (remember the name it had for the entire 20th Century before it was rebranded for the 2006 Empire Games?) at undoGly early hours for distant hospital shifts. I need coffee then. I don’t want to go to Hungry Jacca’s. I’d rather be first in the door at Perk Up, as one of the girls is dragging the tables to the footpath. It helps that they make a mellow flat white, and they do it fast enough for me to catch the 5:58 to Sunbury. Maybe one of these days I’ll be lucky enough to pass by when they’re frying burgers.
Third day in a row I'm having lunch here... Got addicted to their fabulous burgers. my new favorite burger in Melbourne !
Had a Perkup double banger burger. Was so big could not finish it. But it was very good. Great burger place. Will be back. For sureq
A really great place to have your coffee at the morning (2$ !!!!!) but aswell perfect for a beautiful lunch or dinner with awesome burgers (nice AND good) and Salads ! What else ??! :
Best Burger by far!. Truly yummy burgers! So good they're addictive.
Melbourne's best burgers.. This was hands down the best 'A Grade' burger I had for a long time. Delicious inside and out. Quality you can actually taste. Awesome thin french fries, just the way it needs to be. Friendly staff. Loved it.
Great place, great perky atmosphere. Had a Perkup burger and caught up with a friend who enjoyed a veggie burger. Chips are amazing
Phoebe makes the best coffee in Melbourne. Why the manager/owner hasn't got her running the coffee side of the business I don't know. Must have rocks in his/her head. With Phoebe running the coffee side of things this little coffee shop could really go places.
Im getting over the inflated coffee bars that are popping up all over Melbourne. Just glad I've found a well priced one that is actually tastes awesome.
A part of my morning routines on weekdays!. Awesome hot choco with marshmallows, along with the amazing vibe and friendly faces definitely makes going to work early in the mornings much more bearable!!
The Eggs Benedict were awesome & the coffee was excellent.
Phoebe is awesome and makes the BEST coffees in Melbourne!
Awesome Coffee!. Had the french toast with strawberries and it was amazing. Then I had the coffee! I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It's probably one of the best coffee's I've had in my life. Service was great! Can't fault it
Best coffee in Melbourne and the friendly staff keep the good work
Cute shop, fast service. Bircher musceli is to die for!!
I love everything in here! I have tried some of things they have got, and I really enjoyed and highly recommend you to try it too! ♥ hope the lovely staffs would stay there forever :)
THE BEST..... Scrumptious food, delicious coffee, beautiful people and funky tunes! need i say more!
Perk up always make me feel energetic. Coffee, food, music, environment and staffs are fantastic. Looking for a restaurant for coffee and food, perk up is your best choice .
Great Coffee!. Bought their beans to use in my machine at home, makes a great espresso. The slow cooked roast sandwiches sound great I can't wait to try one.
Like it. They've got great coffee, tasty and fresh food, funky music and lovely staff! above all, they open earlier than any other cafe and close late so we can enjoy nice latte in the early morning, fresh salad for lunch and a chicken schnitzel (which is my favorite and highly recommended) for dinner. always love to be there and hope everybody knows this awesome cafe.
Love it!. I go in Perkup every day during my afternoon break from work - their Chai latte's are lovely!
I'm also a bit partial to their Arrancini balls - so yummy, especially when they're fresh. Their sausage rolls are also very tasty.
Service is always friendly, polite and with a smile.
Music is awesome, too.
Love the place!
Before i start work in the morning, i always get my coffee at perkup. Awsome staff. Cool music. Best coffee in melbourne and the best thing, justin beiber free. Strongly recomend perkup.
The happiest place in Melbourne, goes well with its name. Excellent service with a smile and great music makes you feel welcome any day, any time. Fast and efficient, "schnell schnell" as they say in German, the staff always live up to it. Open everyday for over 4 years, keeping on delivering food, coffee and drinks, keeping up with the ever changing weather of Melbourne is no easy task. They have done so through out. "Good better best, never let it rest, until good is better, an better is best". I wish them good luck and do hope they keep it going.
With his army of Latinas waiting at your beck and call, Oliver and his crew are sure to impress with their portuguese inspired menu. Highly reccomend the chicken cacciatore
Burgers are very nice. I got the Perkup double banger burger and it is delicious! The beef is juicy, the buns are soft and milky and the sauce is spot on. Their fries are also nice and crunchy straight out of the fryer with a generous heaping of chicken salt all over. The prices are very cheap compared to most burger places and you’re getting a great meal out of it.
I love the burgers and fries here. They have a deal on Fri night where you get to upgrade to a combo meal for $1.
Their fries are very thin and crispy and are a very large serving. I've had their bacon burger and also their chicken schnitzel burger. Both are good.
Great little burger bar, highly rate the Portabello burger. Staff member was a little short otherwise it would be a 5 star. Official Burger menu from 11am.
Friendly staff wit yummy food!
Love their "Express Breakfast wit coffee/tea/chocolate"- only available on weekdays!
Wonderful place to pickup a coffee on the way to office. I like the place coz of good taste. Burger is one more speciality of the place.
Fantastic coffee & great decor. Staff are lovely & service is quick.
Burgers! Omnomnom!
Sometimes you just can't find a decent burger thats Gluten Free. It's just a shame I had to come to melbourne to find one. Luckily though. The one I did find more and lived up to expectations.
I only had the perkup burger this time with the gluten free option. But one day I intend to go back and takle the Uberburger. XD
The staff were nice and friendly, they served good coffee and while the place was small, it did hold a certain cosy appeal to it. I'd easily recomend it for quick stops and the seating in the front window. XD
