Had an amazing lunch back in December,2018. Totally loved everything about this place the ambience, the food, everything was on point.
We ordered chicken parma Schnitzel, chicken salad, grilled ribs, chicken wrap for the kids and beer to go along.
Rating: 5/5
Came here with a group of mates for a birthday and had a great time. Thanks James for giving out great beer recommendations
Great place for celebrations with your friends, family or a large group!
We had dinner to celebrate new year’s eve and it was so fun! The live music and entertainment was definitely a plus.
The pork is cooked nicely and we enjoyed it! It’s conveniently located just next to the yarra river so a great place to spend your time while waiting for the fireworks to start!
We had the Christmas menu today which is a $49 three course meal comprised of a baked pretzel, choice of two mains and apple strudel for dessert. We had the upstairs private function area as there were nearly 40 of us. I’ve never been in that area before and it’s a great little space complete with its own bathrooms.
The food today was enjoyable and the staff friendly. The servings were generous and I actually didn’t finish my schnitzel main nor my dessert (possibly owing to the fact that the soft drink came in 500ml glasses, those private toilets sure came in handy). Definitely a fun venue
Further update
We visited for drinks with friends who work in a nearby building. They now have an extensive cocktail menu whereas back in the day I had no choice but to get right into the German spirit and onto the schnapps (of which there's actually quite the variety, I'm not a beer girl). The menu has also localised itself tremendously of late featuring a Parma and pastas and a whole heap of non traditional choices that were not previously offered. This year I’m going to try and make it for Octoberfest
Update
MB was chosen as the scene of an early Christmas get together (yes it’s that time of year already) and I took the opportunity to try something from their less traditional menu in the form of a steak with an accompanying cocktail (why not given work was paying?!). I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and having been here on a couple of occasions now I have watched it improve tremendously over time.
Original review
So much more than a novelty venue. I do like to keep it authentic so I go the original Weiner schnitzel with a side of mash and it's absolutely sensational. A house made pretzel ups the Bavarian beer house factor too and they are a nice accompaniment.
Naturally you can't finish on anything other than an apple strudel to really transport you to Germany (if the costumes the ridiculously good looking staff are clad in hadn't already).
It's a great spot on the water and best of all you ever have to worry about booking given it has a capacity of 900 people. Atmosphere in spades
We really enjoy the Munich Brahaus. You’re guaranteed a good time here - there’s always a vibe, good music and big jugs of beer. We usually order a couple beers, pretzels with butter and mustard and settle in for a few hours. Warm pretzels with butter for the WIN!
Loved the collection of sausages and the pork crackle. Obviously great beer and we had excellent entertainment on the day. Definitely recommend a visit.
Note - the platters for two are really huge for just two people to eat.
Lovely staff..and lively vibes even in weekdays...absolutely lovely

One of the best beers i’ve tried! The ambience and vibe was very chill, my friend and I really had a great time in their outdoor lounge across the river!
Best hangout place for a relaxing evening with great live music / good service/ amazing finger food.. amazing crowd and ambience . A must go place for some fun.
Great German Beers. fries are decent but the food can be better and highly priced.
American joined our table – one loaded with fries, gravy, cheese and speck and the. other with waffles bacon and maple syrup. One was met with eager anticipation. and did not disappoint, the other we weren’t so sure about. What we discovered was that the combination of waffles,. bacon, syrup and chicken schnitzel is a surprisingly good combination! And a

Nice restaurant to chill and relax after a good day of shopping at DFO.
Pork knuckle and steak 4/5 ⭐️
Pork knuckle skin was crispy and the meat was tender. Steak was cooked medium as requested but surprisingly the steak took 30 mins to come. In the end we didn’t really mind the wait so much because we had a beer to start with.
Price $$
Prices starts from $20 for a good plate of main. It’s okay price given they’re located at DFO.
💰Tip💰
Some days Munich is on eatclub with 20% off. Try your luck! :)
Smoked spicy pork and beef sausage with creamy potato mash and sides/dips. One of my sausage and coffee place! The sausage has a tinge of spiciness and none of the smoked smell I hate, it was so juicy that it squirted as I cut it with the fork. Totally finished three sausages and cleaned the plate.
I really like their platter as well. Heaps of meat including roast pork, chicken schnitzel etc.
Their coffee is also one of my favorites. Not bitter and so creamy.
So much meat!!! 😍 my partner and I came here for dinner and went for the pork platter, it also so happened to be happy hour when we went meaning $5 drinks. The food itself was tasty but I think going purely pork made the dish a bit too overpowering by the end. I’d recommend a more diverse platter. My only complaint was the staff took ages to take or card to pay before we left, I tried to get their attention about 6 times over the span of 15-20 minutes.
Wonderful taste of all things German. Packed restaurant and very popular with families. They had face painting and a mini zoo for the kids which I think is a Sunday regular. The live band was definitely the icing on the cake. Thoroughly entertaining and everyone was in good spirits. This is the main reason I recommend going there. The staff were great and attentive even with the full house.
Now for the food:
The beer was great too.. we tried a couple of different beers and I really liked the mango beer 🍺 We started off with some spicy chicken wings, really yummy fries (the seasoning was👌) and the pretzel, all were good.
Mains: we had the pork knuckle (def try it as it seems to be the fav thing to order) and also tried some sausages and schnitzels. While bangers and schnitzels may not be as exciting, it was a good meal and overall an enjoyable German experience.
Looking forward to returning to Munich Brauhaus soon, fantastic atmosphere & excellent food, and very friendly staff. Great position on South Wharf on the Yarra River. If you like great German food & music, the band was a lot of fun. Excellent staff- highly recommended for locals and visitors alike ☆☆☆☆☆
We came here on Tuesday night, it was packed. We ordered the famous pork knuckle and chicken schnitzel. We love the foods, the schnitz is very crispy but not dry. Downside, the waiting time is longer than we expected, maybe we will come back when it’s not busy
Good place, loud music and german food. We tried the pretzels and they were good, options of beers on tap and special prices for drinks and food at happy hour times.
We came here to celebrate my birthday. After we sit Down for 15 mins , no one came to order, people staying behind the bar were just talking. A bit disappointed but we went to bar to order in the end . No drama.
We got a big platter also the traditional German bread. They both came out really quick, both are obviously beautiful. One thing that schnitzel would’ve been nice if it’s fresh fried. It only felt warm when we got it. The platter itself is really generous, pickles are lovely with the meat. I think it would be perfect to share with 3 people. We won’t be able to finish but we enjoy it !
Everything is lovely ,Except one of the waitress is helpless and rude. She had been chatting to other staff all the time , when I asked her a take away box, she wasn’t happy and asked me to line up at bar to ask bartender for it. I ended up asking another lovely waitress, she grabbed it straight way to me from the wait area. The service 100% aren’t the best but the manger is excellent. They Just need to train everyone on the same level. Food ,vibe and beer are awesome. Will definitely come back and wish the service can improve next time.

Ambience of the place is pretty good and quiet nice place to hang out with my friend. However, the food is not that great. Initially, i ordered 20 chicken for my table and taste quiet nice. Therefore, we order another 20 chicken after 30 minutes. We ordered exactly the same and taste so different. That is why i can conclude that the taste is pretty unconsistent.
The really positive things from this restaurant is when they have happy hour beer which is really affordable.
We’ve been here 4 times now and have never had a bad experience. The banquet style for 4 was so impressive. Comes out on a huge board and has enough pork knuckle, schnitzel, sausages and sauerkraut to feed at least 6. Huge range of beers. Around $20 for a 1ltr stein and if you have a few people with you, try the schnitzelmeister challenge

☑ 7/10! Note: this meal is for someone with an appetite! 😅 GIANT pork knuckle served on a bed of creamy mash w/sauerkraut, bier jus and apple compote! 🍎 been wanting to try this giant out for a while and finally got my chance! 😁 to be honest it was a little salty in general for my taste, which overpowered the overall flavour of the accompanying sides! 🤔 but boy it didn't disappoint in portion! This is one big bopper 😏 i almost had to be rolled back to the car 😅 great price for the massive portion, however just wasn't a fan of the salt content, could just be me though! 😁☑ try it out for yourself! 👊🏽
.
💡 TIP - if your're not in for the pork knuckle then definitely grab one of the giant loaded shnitzels or the famous pork sausage 👌🏽 theyre soo good! 🤤

🅰️ ANSWER - The PORK-CHOP! 🤚🏽
Love your roast and snags? This is the place to be. Their German meat platter was generous. The crispy pork belly and pork hock was top notch. The German sausages were delicious however would have loved an addition of bread and some relish.
Love the open atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely recommend for big groups.
This is a massive restaurant great for small to big groups, and surprising they had a live band on a Monday night. The atmosphere was great although the music was deafening making it absolutely difficult to talk. It was much better dining at the outside tables facing the river.
The meal was extremely worthwhile with Dimmi’s 50% off food deal. The quality of the meat was generally good, particularly the pork crackling. The portion was more than enough to feed 3 people.
Only other critic was the service as even though I made an earlier booking and my friend arrived earlier at the restaurant, she was refused inside until I had arrived but we later noticed another person was allowed in even though his group had not arrived. Not sure why the differential treatment!
We've come here a couple of times, both times on a Dimmi 50% off food booking. Atmosphere is always lively and loud with a live and interactive band. A little too loud for my liking to be honest but I appreciate that lots of people who come here do want to have some fun. Staff are also friendly though the first time we went we had someone inexperienced and made a few errors.
We ordered a platter for 2 the first time we went, and a platter for 1 + the pork belly the second time. We also ordered the apple strudel for dessert both times. Portions were very generous assuming you factor in the 50% off which works out to about $20 per person for mains; I'm unlikely to pay for it at full price. Everything tasted good - lots of crackle, sausages were juicy, the bier jus had a strong beer taste as well. I thought the amount of bier jus they gave you for the platter for 2 was quite little, and we had to ration it out. The apple strudel was also tasty with flaky puff pastry and a nice apple and cinnamon taste that went very well with the accompanying ice cream. I was really full both times but somehow still managed to scoff down the dessert practically single handedly. We also managed to takeaway roughly a meal's worth of leftovers from the platter for 2.
If you're looking for a place to let loose and enjoy some entertainment, this is a pretty good place for that. Do go for the Dimmi 50% off booking and remember it only applies to food, not drink.
What an amazing place with an amazing location! Situated along the Yarra is this German pub at South Wharf 😍
We visited this place on a packed Saturday night and quite expectedly it wasn't easy to get a table in the main section. After a couple of drinks they were kind enough to find us a place in the main sitting area inside and the atmosphere there was amazing!
Live music, fun games and audience interactive band made the evening full of laughs and excitment! Along with this we tried some German beers and some interesting combination of beers and other drinks!
Wed ordered Bavarian Diesel which is Dark Lager with coke, Mango Weisbier, Radler which was Lager with lemonade
Out of these Radler was my favourite! Really great flavour!
We didn't try the food as we were just here for the drinks but will definitely visit again for some more drink and food as well :D
Overall, a terrific place to spend your Saturday night!
Friendly staff, great vibe and a fun in house band. Food selection is quite nice and servings were massive even the for one tasters could feed two people. Stand outs were definitely the pretzel and sausages!
Didn't even know this place existed until I came across it. Great venue for beers and schnitz! $20 deal was great! Great service and fast delivery!

Highly recommend booking specially during the month of Octoberfest! The food is classic Bavarian. Highly recommend trying their Pork belly and the Bavarian platter. All meals are very decent portions. The atmosphere is lovely and they have a great live band. Great place to enjoy with family and friends
We started our walk in slightly chillier weather from Federation Square to South Wharf. Melbourne has such a great outdoor vibe and fabulous ambience on the streets . Munich Brauhaus was stuffed to the gills & we manged to get a seat on the outer side overlooking the wharf to have our round of drinks.
At the time of the night, limited food was available , so we ordered the sausage platter.
By then people were dancing in the aisles and the mood was rising .
Lovely busy place a must visit next time
The best happy hour in town! Lively vibe and good music on weekends. Great place to gather some friends and have a great time with pints on the table!
Love this place, the staff are always friendly and attentive. I went there on a Friday and they did $5steins and $1wings, which the group of 8 I was with and I got into. The food menu is really tasty as well. Gets crowded on Fridays, so if you want a table in the bar it’s best to get there before 4pm. Really good atmosphere, will be back.
Eating out twice in one day ooops. This is my goto dinner drinks fun place with friends . Everything you order 5star service 5star and entertainment. Do yourself a favour try this place especially on a Saturday night but book!!! Want low key come on a Sunday . 🥃🍻🍻🍻
Attended this restaurant on friday night. This offers an experience on top of good food.
The staff were friendly and fun. There is singing and dancing and crowd got involved.
I came here a few years ago and i didnt rate the food but Wow it was great this time.
My wife and I got the sharing platter for 2. You get a bit of everything. Meal was huge. Only got through 2/3rd of it.
The pork belly and hock were the highlights. As good of pork ive eaten. So jucey with amazing flavor. I was in germen heaven.
Based on this visit, i would highly recommend.
Had dinner with a friend, great house brewed beer! And hearty German food, the pork belly & sausage platter.
Loved the spacious atmosphere and not too bright warm lighting.
Visited this restaurant for a birthday lunch with my fitness. Their pork belly is so crunchy and delicious!! We ordered sausage tasting for one but the position is huge enough for two of us. They also have performance in the afternoon and staff are super friendly. Enjoyed my meal here.
Great location, delicious food and great value in money. My favorite weekends late lunch place in Melbourne.
Only one thing will need improvement is the staff are hard to reach when is fully packed, I have to walk to the lady to get order, get water and get bill. Maybe try to avoid to sit at corner or come on Canada day or festival days.
Loud. Great entertainment. Enjoyed the band! Large space. Juicy meat overload. Unique and cultural experience. Perfect place to have beer and meat.
I absolutely love this place! $5 pints on happy hour with german beer and $1 wings, it doesn’t get any better!
There’s also other specials: Tuesday is schnitzel day for $20 schnitzel and beer! How good is that?
If it’s not happy hour, it is a bit pricey in my opinion but you will not regret it, oh no! Get the pork shoulder and thank me later.
Cycled into the city for Munich Brauhaus's pork knuckle, and it did not disappoint! Beautifully crispy pork with a delicious side of stewed apple. We shared a knuckle and pork belly between three, but even our sizeable appetites couldn't conquer the huge portions. We were there for a pretty early weekday lunch, so the place was fairly empty and the service good. There was one let-down preventing a 5-star review: the pork knuckle was served with mashed potato, which isn't strange but certainly not common in Bavaria. When I asked to swap the mash with potato salad due to my lactose intolerance and preference for the salad, the waitress said they don't do that, and that the potato salad had milk in it anyway. Odd that they can't swap the potato style, but even more odd that they put milk in a Bavarian potato salad!
Overall delicious food, huge portions and a nicely decorated venue.
This was a great find!! Having a slightly lazy day in Melbourne and headed to DFO, the music, singing and smells coming out of the place drew us in.
Nice and warm inside. Love the wood finish everywhere. Ordering was easy with QR codes and there was still relatively good service despite no table service for meals. The photos of the menu items where exactly as what came out.
Would love to have a drink in the Upstairs area as well. Seats looked comfy.
This place is huge! Great atmosphere along with tasty drinks and large portion size on the schnitzel. All sides including the red cabbage are delicious. Come here for a fun lively experience.
This place is huge and so fun to visit!
We had such a great time here, food was amazing and service was great
Highly recommend the chicken parmi, goulash soup and the warm pretzels! So good!! thanks, we’ll be back 💕
Excellent is an understatement! Where do we begin. We celebrated our son’s first birthday with close to 90 guests at Munich Brahaus Melbourne. Connor has been amazing from the very beginning. The minute we had our dinner and made our function inquiry, we were already confident that we were good in hands. Connor is very accommodating and kind. The food was generous and the atmosphere is very friendly and warm. The view of the promenade was lovely. On the day of our function, Connor surprised us with the best setup for our event complete with kids packs to keep the children entertained. He paid attention to every detail and offered invaluable input to ensure that our event was a success. The food was delicious and the servings were very generous. Our head waiter - Elijah, made everything so smooth flowing and stress free. He’s got everything under control despite the large number of guests. Our guests were raving about how generous the food were and how friendly the staff are. They reckon the staff were always making sure that everyone was having fun and enjoying the feast. You can easily tell that the staff love what they do because they are all smiles the whole time. Thanks to your team Connor and Elijah! You guys are the best! We will definitely be back and by the way you impressed our guests, I’m sure they will also be back with their family and friends. P
Fantastic time and the staff were highly attentive that we were well taken care off. Meals also came out quickly and you can't go wrong with their beer menu, although ordering from the table using the app gave you less beer selections as a few too many said "sold out". Either way, great place to go with the family or friends
Worth the visit.
Good service, wait times good.
Great view along the Yarra River.
I got the schnitzel and a side of mashed.
All of good portion and I struggled to finish but wasn't going to be defeated.
We’ve come here every week for the last 3 weeks and have had sensational food and service each time!
The cocktail jugs are delicious, we had the strawberry margarita and the lychee one, great value for $29.
The macaroni croquettes are the clear winner though. They are sensational. But at $18 I feel they are slightly overpriced though but then again they’re so delicious I’ll keep ordering them.
The jagerschnitzel is my fave, generous portion and the chicken is always perfect, as are the chips.
The kids love the Frankfurt’s and mash and we love the sauerkraut that comes with it. Delicious.
