Up from sydney for the weekend, spent the afternoon in the sun with beautiful cocktails and the best staff. They even helped us get into a restaurant that was also sensational ! Thanks for the awesome experience
Pouring rain and didn't want to walk too far from William street... spotted this place and "hiked" upstairs for a quick Bloody Mary before our flight out of Melbourne.... Stayed for a bite and another drink. I wished we found this place on our first day... not our last!
GF day and the bar staff were so friendly and super quick service, best BBQ sausages! the hole rooftop bar was going off!
A great space. Fabulous cocktails and bar food. Staff very attentive and friendly. Clever design too. As the evening light rain threatened the rooftop rolled out automatically with no fuss!!
A hidden gem! Great service, awesome rooftop & some of the best food I've ever had, definitely worth a visit!
Billy and Kamie are quite possibly the best Bar Staff I've ever met. Accomodating and they have the best personality and amazing customer service!
Please pass on my gratitude to these two amazing people!!!
I only discovered this place on Friday and I’ve already been 3x! Love it drinks are amazing, food Is lush and perfect summer vibes!
Great atmosphere... staff were helpful and full of personality. Just an all round great place
Absolutely delicious food! Best we have had in our stay in Melbourne! Beautiful waitress who was friendly and efficient..thank you for making our last meal in Melbourne lovely
Had a work function there - great vibe and the bar staff were great!
Great service friendly genoroys staff
Totally accommodating
Great view
Wonderful cocktails
The most welcoming staff, food was wonderful, atmosphere fantastic. We partied like it was 1999 !!!!!
The prawn pizza was easily the highlight of our night. Perfect moist saucy base with great marinara flavours. My favourite kind of pizza packs flavour and is filling without being heavy and this meets the desired criteria! These days pizzas are so heavy and dry so this made me really happy.
The marinara pasta was saucy and had good amounts of seafood. Yum! Probably my second favourite. the roast chicken tortellini was not bad with big pieces of tortellini. The magherita had good amount of sauce but flavouring was a little off.
Overall would recommend.
Campari House was a nice hidden gem on Hardware Lane. Décor was a little dated but the food was hard to fault. The market fish of the day with a medley of vegetables was fresh and delightful. The extremely generous portion of chicken was an explosion of flavour, however a bit on the saltier side.
All in all, it was nice meal on a hot summer's day. Don't forget to check out their rooftop bar!
🥘 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 with wagyu bolognese, Grana Padona
7/10 not bad at all! Enjoyed it
𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 (a tasting board of entrees)
- baked field mushrooms; goat cheese, pesto & capsicum essence
- spiced dusted calamari; with rocket, oranges, olives, cherry tomatoes & citrus aioli
- bruschetta of the day
- croquettes; of chorizo, peas, scamorza
- Arancini; with prosciutto, leek & mozarella
- crispy pork belly; vanilla apple purée, pickled red onion
10/10
Okay the Campari board was amazing I enjoyed everything on the board!
So worth it with zomato gold! will defs come back again
A perfect place to dine in on a cold Melbourne winter night.
For entrees we went with the Campari board, it was an excellent of selection of the Campari entrees.
For mains I ordered the pan fried gnocchi. The gnocchi was nice however it lacked a bit of flavour.
My friend ordered the slow roasted lamb shoulder, it was cooked to perfection but the potatoes were a bit bland.
Overall it was a great dining experience and service was friendly and attentive!
A fantastic dinner here before seeing a comedy show upstairs. The dishes were tasty and large enough to share together. We were running a bit late for the show so the team were nice enough to let us take the delicious dessert upstairs!
Pizza was really yummy and definitely filling would go back. Service was also good, staff was warm and friendly and checked up on us often to make sure our waters were filled and we were enjoying the food
Had the arancini and tagliatelle, both were very yummy, I would be happy to recommend both. I also found the service to be very friendly and attentive. Had a very nice time 😊
Great place for drinks, especially they have a nice rooftop area. I have dined there once and the food was okay but the customer service was amazing.
Loved the mini slider. The Wagyu beef I ordered was super cute! The ambience was good as well. Definitely coming back for more drinks.
Highly recommended
Many a late night drink has been had at Campari, up on the rooftop, over the years. However, finally a decision to have a civilised lunch during the day was made and Campari was the spot selected when another joint fell through.
It’s not an extensive menu at Campari, but what they do, they do well. It’s a typical modern Australian menu with a decent Italian influence. Pizzas were ordered by the majority on The Dear Luncher’s table and a fair bit of slice swapping took place to ensure maximum coverage. There was a San Danielle prosciutto pizza, a couple of the Pepperoni spicy salami and a spiced chicken. The Dear Luncher sampled the spiced chicken as well as the Pepperoni – and both were excellent. Just the right sort of sweet spot you get with a well-made pizza. Simple base, not overloaded with ingredients, not overly sloppy. High quality ingredients were used, very satisfying.
Some weirdo ordered a risotto. He seemed please with his decision.
The beer selection could be a little better, fairly mainstream for The Dear Luncher’s snobby tastes. However, this is a great venue for sitting outside on a warm day, excellent for people-watching.
Great rooftop bar! Perfect on a sunny day for good italian food, antipasto platters and drinks. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Perfect for a Sunday sesh
😱Lizzie’s first impression: one of the best rooftop bars in Melbourne - been here many times and it’s always so busy!
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I love love the mushroom pizza - it is honestly the best of its kind. They sell the Shiraz gin here which is a plus and a great selection of drinks including pimms.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: it definitely gets too crowded on a warm Friday night but that’s what gives it the atmosphere.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: I love this place and it’s my go to bar when it’s warm whether it is day time or night.
Wanted somewhere casual for a quick bite to eat and went here based on reviews I read. There are a few levels with indoor dining but we chose to book a table on the rooftop. Good selection of cocktails and the slides and tacos we had were all tasty. The soft shell crab slider definitely my favourite. Friendly staff and lovely ambience (got better as the sun started to set. Definitely recommend for casual bite to eat or a few drinks.
I was in the lounge room and I liked how cozy it was and how we were separated from everyone else. The drinks were very nice and the bar tender even made us something special. It took a while for drinks to come out but I understand when there’s only one bartender. The food was lovely and really enjoyed my pizza 🍕
Went to grab a quick drink before heading to Rice Paper Sister. Cosy bar in the middle level. The rooftop was closed for a private function. The security was very helpful in pointing that out. Think red velvet couches and high bar tables. I think most people on this level were heading out to dinner down the lane. Friendly service although a tad slow.
I had the eye fillet with mushroom jus and it was to die for! Perfectly prepared steak, lovely and pink without weeping onto the plate. The mushrooms where delightful too. The only draw back was the cauliflower mash, also delicious but just a smear on the plate and I would have loved more. Service was excellent and while the food took awhile to come it was worth the wait.
Went here for my birthday dinner, was really nice the pasta was outstanding, so were the others dishes we had, I suggest just getting a main we tried the entree and was so full for our main. The service was great we didn’t have to wait long, was abit pricy for the food, but will be returning
Delicious express weekday lunch in the city! The croquettes were yummy deep fried goodness. Pork chop had a great char and perfectly cooked! Great value. Friendly service.
Lovely italian food, lovely ambience, lovely service, lovely location! All in all, a great choice for a weekend dinner.
Located on the quaint but busy Hardware Lane, we tucked into Campari House's beautiful house special, bruschetta with mushroom and mozarella. This was gone in 2 mins! I then had a salami pizza while my wife had the salmon (another house special). Both were divine and devoured in 10 mins.
What can I say? Campari House was the total package and I highly recommend this restaurant for a lovely dinner within a buzzing laneway. Welcome to Melbourne!
Friday night drinks at the second level was a great find. Rooftop bar was heaving if you get there early it would be a great place to park up for the night.
Food looked good didnt try as this was just a pre-drink place for us which we would go back too.
went there for cocktail making class with my friends.
class went well and we made two cocktails, ambiance and vibes of the place is great.
I highly recommend there cocktail making class
Loved the food here, and the atmosphere. I had the King Salmon on Salad ($32) and was delicious. Salmon was very soft and melt-in-mouth type with a crispy skin. It was over a simple but lovely salad of asparagus, zucchini ribbons, pomegranate, cherry tomatoes, and mixed leaves. I would definitely order this again.
Friends of mine had a mixture of pizzas, the ravioli dish, and gnocchi. They all enjoyed their dishes and were speaking about it days after.
The only thing letting it down was the lighting (a bit dark for me) and was extremely loud - it was a struggle to hear the servers.
Overall, a fabulous experience!

What a great hang out spot!
Campari House offers some quality food and ambiance! I was really impressed by the size of this place! WAS HUGE! We spent most of out time on the roof top. It was a nice cosy spot with some great food and beverage options!
Ordered some chips, tacos and a pizza; were happy with everything on the table.
Ambience - great, in one of the lounge booths but very noisy.
Service - great, staff were attentive except very busy at times
Food - terrible, every single dish was too salty! Had the share entree platter which had calamari, arancini ball, fried cheese stick things, bruschetta type thing, a generous serving of smoked salmon but the saltiest thing on the platter and we couldn’t eat it. Hubby had mix of sliders. I had mushroom pizza, which was also very salty.
I went here a couple of nights ago after dinner. The location was fantastic, right in the middle of the city which was really handy but beware, there are a LOT of steps to get to this bar, as I found out hahaha
This bar caters for an older crowd, and the drinks were ok. The service was efficient and when we were there it started raining so the roof was closed, which was pretty cool.
They sell jugs of Mohito and Pimms, which came out of a keg!! Yes I’ve never seen Pimms sold by the keg hahaha and as for the taste ... nah, far too sweet for me.
But Simmyeats.Melb was with me and her partner kindly shouted me an Espresso Martini which was really good. So I’d recommend ordering individual drinks.
Good service and handy if you want to visit a rooftop bar but I didn’t see anyone drinking Campari hahaha
Came here for some drinks and had a snack. Really cool bar and nice rooftop! Had the mushroom bruschetta and just a side of chips, both were really yum!
Thanks for great night out! Organised a night out with friends and this was the perfect place - great drinks, service and food was yummy, was busy but we had fun and really enjoyed our time!
Came here last night for dinner with family. Place was empty downstairs but rooftop upstairs was busy. Too cold to be outside though. We all enjoyed our mains, I had duck, brother had lamb and mother had fish. Everyone was impressed by their meals. Service was great actually, attentive but not in your face. Wine was also good, earthworks Shiraz. Reasonable prices too. We will be back! Oh waitress suggested desert was great too :-)
A few months ago, I sat outside at the Campari house waiting for my friend and there was a horrible smell of sewage. I told the waitress and she informed me they had a busted pipe and the smell was coming from the drain behind our table. There were no tables available for us to move to straight away but the staff came to get us immediately when a table became available. A busted pipe isn't there fault and I really appreciated them trying to help. I'm sure the drain will be fixed now. I came back again a few weeks ago with my friend and her mother - we ordered espresso martini's, they were good but a little sweet for me. Next time, I'll ask for no Kahlau. Overall, a few glitches but I can't wait for summer - I will definitely be going back to the rooftop bar.
Fantastic bar! If you are looking for a bar with fantastic rooftop views and comfy booths inside at the same time, Campari House is perfect for you! With a large variety of cocktails, beers, wines and shots everyone will have fun here! And what's surprising to me is that even the food ain't bad at all. The mushroom pizza was absolutely delicious (and that was before we had drinks 😂). Only downside, which is kind of an Australian problem, is that the prices are very steep!
Delicious pizza! Only problem is during the summer the rooftop can get quite hot and there isn't adequate shading. However there is the downstairs restaurant.
Details: Quite packed on the roof top because it is quite a small area but I am still all for a place with a roof top in the heart of the city! Cute place to hang out, eat some pizza and grab a drink after work or even on a random night! Hard to find a table if you are eating though!
Cocktails: Do your self a favour and get the Salted Caramel PopCorn cocktail. Especially if you have a sweet tooth [and when the waiter listens to you and brings you extra popcorn]. Nice house wine as well!
Went here Saturday night for casual dinner with friends. The place was a bit quiet, unusual for a Saturday night. But then again it's one of those Melbourne nights, it was cold.
Decor: It's rustic feel, it was a bit too dark for liking for dinning purposes
Service: Good, wait staff was attentive. Table of 7 people the dishes came relatively quick. Didn't wait for long for food. I would expect so cause the restaurant was not full.
Food: Some dishes were so so. The pizza was great, so would recommend getting their pizzas. Portion sizes are ok, not too big it's not small either. It was just right for the amount you pay for.
Overall: It's not a bad place to have spontaneous casual dinner. Roof top bar upstairs was very busy though.
We had a 3 Birthday's in May we were celebrating the other week on Friday 13/5/17 and had about 16 of us attend for dinner at Campari house restaurant& rooftop bar . With a large group its always hard to find a nice relaxed place especially when I comes to fixing up the bill. The staff at this place made it seem effortless and were very helpful. Food was delicious. Then after we enjoyed drinks at the roof top bar. We were able to pay the bill after individually by card or cash. I would like to take the time to thank the staff who were working on that day. (Also for the birthday drinks as well. This was a bonus:)) We will come back again sometime, and I recommend this venue to anyone who is thinking of hosting an event here in the future. Heidi :)
I organised my birthday drinks here for Saturday night as I've visited Campari House in the past and had a great time. The staff did not disappoint and they were all exceptional in service. I was super concerned about coverage as the storms came in late afternoon but there was an electric roof top that would come over when it rained. It did get quite stuffy with the roof on so it was a relief when the roof was taken off once the rain cleared. Ordered some nibbles and pizza and were all very nice. The decor and setting is funky and comfortable. I recommend Campari House for a casual drink or celebration event .
Good hangout place for a busy Friday evening! Thier menu was good although we felt they could probably do a bit more in terms of space decor given an excellent roof top location. We were not able to try much on their food menu but i would definitely visit the place again, especially because its location is so convenient if you want to hang out some place after office!
And yes, the art on the stairway upto rooftop is definitely interesting 😀😀
I saw friends like this rooftop on Facebook and it has promotion that buy one and get one free selected cocktail at Campari Rooftop. My friend and I came to the crowded rooftop but told the promotion was in Campari lounge( one storey down). The friendly staff told us Aperol Spritiz was on special and we were happy to try. Very good price for excellent cocktail with final touch of rose water. Smells beautiful!
Even we didn't go to the rooftop that we initially wanted to, we really enjoyed our drink in the lounge. And good environment.
Must mention the staff was very friendly and attentive.
Definitely visit again!
Great little roof top bar. Great Campari, ordinary house. I didn't see one lounge suite or bedroom in the whole place. how can you call it a house if there's nowhere for anyone to live?
This is a fantastic rooftop bar & perfect for Melbourne's unpredictable weather. Retractable roof & heaters make it a top spot all year round. Many groups of good looking (but not pretentious) gals & the whole place is beautifully clean. This is the best place on Hardware Lane by a mile.
Rooftop bar is a great spot for a few beers and pizza! A quirky spot on Hardware Lane with so much ''Melbourne" to offer. A real classic, I always find myself coming back here
I came here with a group of 10 or so. I found all the people that I encountered who were working there to be very pleasant. This is despite most of the group arriving later than the booking time and there being around 6 seats too many (not sure if this was done intentionally but could see how this could potentially have been an issue at some restaurants). It was relatively busy, the booking was for 6:30 and at this time it was quiet but it did end up picking up. The meals all looked great, ranging from the steak to pizzas, marinara pasta, risotto and of course a serving of chips. I didn't taste it but the gnocchi was delicious apparently... "I can't get over how good that was" haha. The waitress was friendly in her service to me when I asked if there was anything that could be veganised on the menu. She checked with the chef as there wasn't really any options. I can confirm some sides can be made vegan and also the funghi pizza. Which was delicious with the truffle oil. I wouldn't recommend this to fellow vegan diners, but I would highly recommend the mushroom pizza! Great rooftop bars with two outdoor options at top. One more quiet than the other but both good for a drink with friends. Two drinks and the pizza had me spending around $50.
Went on Valentine's day and had the Valentine's day set menu. Food was very good, we had the spice dusted calamari, sirloin steak and the twice-cooked pork belly. The staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was cozy and very appropriate for Valentine's Day. Would definitely come here again.
Hung out at the rooftop of Campari House and can I say I am totally blown away. I was super surprised (even though it made a lot of sense) that they had changed owner and my god what a step in the right direction they have taken. The rooftop staff were sensational as was the food! Seriously some of the best prawns I've had in yonks
As a vegetarian I often struggle to find cheap lunch spots in the CBD but Campari House's $20 laneway lunch menu ALWAYS includes an incredible vegetarian option. Their pumpkin and Gorgonzola pizza is rich and a nice change from the usual vegie pizzas local spots offer. I work super locally and often stop by to take advantage of their happy hours and enjoy the calamari on the rooftop
After being brought to Campari House by some instant friends (I'm more of a suburbs kinda guy) I was very pleasantly surprised by their new menu which offers a lot more than just plain old Italian food. We had dinner in the restaurant, I had the rib eye which was decedent and perfectly cooked before we shot upstairs to one of their booths for some evening drinks. The cocktail bartenders were very funny and knowledgeable and helped me craft m,y very first Negroni. Over all it was one of the best nights I've had out in ages!
Rooftop bar is a great spot for a few cocktails and pizza! Ive been here many times and the pizza is always delicious. The vibe there is great and the staff are really friendly. For something casual yet fun I would recommend this spot!
Always go up to the rooftop bar. Cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere is great. Haven't eaten much up here but what we have had always been good.
The two times I've been here in recent weeks it was to the Lounge on level 2.
Atmosphere is tremendous, drinks are very well made, and the overall experience was first class.
Two of the staff, Chris and Kylie, were exceptional.
Wouldn't hesitate to hold any important events here as you're guaranteed to feel extra special.
I went to the rooftop bar here and had a cocktail with some friends. The drink was very delicious and was $18 (I have forgotten it's name but it was very sweet and had elderflower). My friends also really liked their cocktails. It was really hard to get a seat though as there were lots of reserved spots (and those holding the reservations hadn't shown up). Also not a good rooftop bar for views as it's practically an enclosed space, yet they allow smoking up there so you will come away stinking of cigarettes.
Be it the delicious pizzas at the restaurant or the bar upstairs or the open roof top bar on the roof - Campari House knows how to dish out a memorable evening. Great place for an after work social event or a drinks get together with your colleagues.
What a great place. Very relaxing atmosphere and well seved by the staff on. I loved the Lamb risotto and my wife thought her seafood pasta was just simply amazing. Will definitely be back and highly recommend
It is a quiet little shop at the start of hardware lane. Love the relax atmosphere, I tried the garlic prawn as entree and crispy skin salmon for main. The garlic prawn is a delight, perfectly seasoned and the sauce is a great match with the baguette.
This is a nice little bar / eatery on Hardware Lane with a cosy / warm interior and a funky rooftop bar to enjoy drinks. The restaurant offers an Italian menu including pizza and cheese with some great desserts. But I'd recommend the place primarily for drinking, great spot 👍
OK....so we did order more but my wife pulled the 'wife card' and made me put the phone away!
We started with some garlic prawns and pulled-pork arancini. Both really tasty especially when I'm the one who doesn't like prawns!
For mains we ordered the chicken breast with polenta and the duck ragu gnocchi. Duck was a stellar dish! Soft and seasoned well.
Finally we moved to the deconstructed lemon tart and the cream brulae. Both great!!!
Great restaurant. Great staff. Great atmosphere! Thanks!
Food is good but serving size of risotto was bit surprising- it's was like 2km of dish size with 20cm of serving in the dish.
Location is good if you can't reach to lygon st for pizza.
Campari House is a spacious Italian restaurant located on Hardware Lane, one of the foodies’ favourite spots in Melbourne. The restaurant offers a modern, and sophisticated setting, with an appropriate number of selections on the menu. Just like too little choices, too many can be devastating too.
Went here with a voucher for a two course meal and glass of wine last week. The service was really great, our waiter joked with us and was very informed. The food was good too. I had the prawn entree and licked the plate clean! The main steak was also good though didn't come with any sides so I think if I had paid full price I would have been annoyed. We hurriedly ordered some sides to share and they came out really quickly which was good (it was a quiet Tuesday night though). Overall nice place and I would like to come back and go up to the roof.
Had the butternut pumpkin risotto & an aperol spritz. Risotto was quite delightful, sweet and filling. Very happy. Aperol spritz, just as it should be. Will be returning in the near future.
Pizz was good, had the salami- went down a treat! The steak was great too! Side of beans was a nice little add on and the chips were good but could had a bit more time in the frier and alittle more love put into them but other than that- great place!!
Yummy cocktails at a reasonable price if you come at happy hour. Lovely environment up on the rooftop. Staff were all friendly. Food was just standard Italian.
