Review The Melbourne Supper Club - Melbourne

Dean Economou
It's gone downhill. The main lounge is closed and the wine list by the glass is limited instead of marvellous. Go downstairs to the Wine Room or the European instead.
Aumee Ahmed
It's all about the ambiance!! Between the almost invisible entryway, to the dimly-lit interior, the massive window and the very English/European servers; you'll feel transported to another time (think Victorian-Era London). We usually head in for a late-night coffee and dessert. The food is good, but a tad over-priced. But if you are looking for a place to have a bit of a romantic tête-à-tête, this is it!
Ian Jindal
Laid back hideaway on the first and second floors with a Chesterfield-meets-bistro speakeasy vibe. 40 page winelist and a one-side menu greet you upon arrival. Seating is a mix of shared sofas and normal bistro tables. Wine list is impressive and well-navigated by the staff. Food was varied (Japanese chicken via Canadian fries-and-cheese to Korean curry via minute steak) and surprisingly good. Classic casual, chilled venue.

Chill vibes, great food and wide drink selection. Great place to come and have a good snack and drinks with friends

I didn't enjoyed the food much but the place is absolutely great for a cosy after party! They have a consequent drink list to choose from, service is great and the jazzy music ambiance is absolutely fantastic!

Had a great night, good bar staff, active and engaging, food was on point

Funny, quirky place. Not my style. It's too pretentious for my taste, but I can see how other people would enjoy it. It looks like a good place for middle-aged fancy gay men, or for straight couples on a late-night date. The entrance isn't clearly marked, which presumably ads to the "exclusive" atmosphere. It's definitely not cheap, but it has liberal opening hours, and the kitchen is open until late (like 3am or so). I only ate here once, and the food was OK. There's better value late-night food around the corner at "Butcher's Diner", but people come to the Supper Club mostly for drinks and the atmosphere.

We had garlic prawns and polenta chips done perfectly 👌. The ambience is laid back elegance. The music is barely there. Perfect for catchup chatting. Our wait staff friendly without being intrusive. Will be going again to try the extensive wine list and interesting menu.
EatorTreat
We went here for a late catch up with some of our friends and loved the atmosphere! We had a few drinks and desserts to share, and definitely loved their sticky date pudding and creme brulee

Always a pleasure to drop into this please whether it be for a meal or a late night snack. Very attentive wait staff that know their stuff. You can buy wine by the glass or by the bottle however it is an extra $20 on top of the shelf price. I remember when it was $10 think that or $15 would be a fairer price.

Worth visiting - we have been there many times and take our interstate friends there.
FoodieInMel
Love this place, very cozy and warm set up, service was really nice. They open till very late, perfect place for night owls, the polenta chips here was one of my favourite here.
Withaknifeandfork
We loved 😍
The sticky date pudding here was amazing! This is a great place for a late night dessert or wine. Would definitely come back for more nibbles.

Love the ambient and the large couches. The wine list is like a phone book. This place is perfect for a relaxing drink. One of my favorite bar in Melbourne
Sparky
Great place for a relaxed drink and catch up with friends. Came here numerous times desserts - chocolate fondant, sticky date pudding, and tiramisu and all have been nice. Service is always friendly.

The slower phase of Melbourne.

This old Melbourne institution is still going strong, judging by the number of patrons hiking up and down those three levels of dining.

Be ready to spend the time, as things are "dated" and slow here; service and ambiance.

Food are reasonably good and wines are well stocked albeit overpriced.

Always a great place for a catch up and chill on the first floor or rooftop if you are a smoker.

Times nearly at a standstill.
Simmyeats.Melb
Again, another place that I haven't bee to in years! This is such a treasure of a place. The chesterfield lounges and ambience make this place truly stunning.

We ordered a nice rose wine, that washed down perfectly with our small plates we ordered. I haven't had a sausage roll for years!! I think the last time might of been a Four N Twenty haha So this was definitely a step up and boy how nice it was! Thank you Tim.E for the suggestion as I would not normally order this. The pastry was divine and the meat really good quality YUMMMM

The spanakopita and polenta chips were good but the stand out was definitely the sausage rolls.

Wait staff was great, all in all a good spot to be.
Timinmelbourne
I really like this place. The regal chairs, the international waiters, the impeccable service, the incredible food, the delicious wine... you get the hint hahaha

I shared a bottle of rose w Simmyeats.Melb Ana my partner and we had a wonderful time. This is a very relaxed place to sit and take in your surroundings, and people watch.

The Adelaide Hills rose that we had was delicious, light, fruity and easy drinking.

We ordered the best sausage rolls that I’ve raver had.! Sooo moorish ... yummy lol

The spanakopita was really good but it’s the polenta chips that are unmissable.

What a lovely times great company. Happy days!
Nini Foodie
A classic Melbourne institution and still one of my favourite venues for a late night bevy or two! Love the laid back but classy vibe and it’s always a treat to bring visitors here, especially if you can get a spot near the window.

Boasting an extensive wine list and a hidden cocktail menu (love the espresso martinis here but they are super strong!) they also have quite a good snack list although I sadly haven’t sampled most of it.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
😱Lizzie’s first impression: I usually always go straight up to Siglo but little did I know the restaurant on the way up sell the best sticky date pudding in Melbourne!

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: The sticky date pudding was cooked perfectly - the butterscotch sauce was warm and matched well with the moist pudding and vanilla ice cream. It’s everything you want in a sticky date and the price is so affordable.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: N\A

🥇Lizzie rates overall: would like to come back and try more of their desserts/platters - easily the best dessert I’ve had in a long time!
Gastrology
Halliday Wine Companion recently hosted an unforgettable celebration of premium Barossa Valley producer Grant Burge Wines at Melbourne Supper Club’s Tea Room.

The evening provided guests with the opportunity to sample two new releases – the Nebu Cabernet Shiraz and Black Apera PX - along with three renowned stablemates - Meshach Shiraz, Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon, and Abednego Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache. Each course was matched perfectly with each wine.
Kevin Kaluarachchi
Amazing dimly lit setting with a hint of background music filling the room to maintain the mood. If you're ever hungry late in the evening, this is definitely on the list to tick off. The sicky date pudding really warms up from the inside, leaving an amazingly fulfilled feeling. Definitely a place to enjoy with 2 or 3 other friends.
Andrew Shelton
Have you ever been to a bar with such a wide selection that you could never hope to sample every bottle? That’s the Supper Club. Leather couches, classic layout and an incredible window with a view to Parliament House. The bar snacks are varied and delicious. It’s all about the ambience, the vibe and the luxurious couches. Just go.
AnotherAsianAbroad
Came here for after dinner drinks and were seated straight away in the corner by the window. It’s super cozy and a very relaxed and Laidback vibe, perfect for when you want to get out of the cold winter nights!

I had a glass of Sauternes which was perfect after dinner!

Service was friendly and quick, especially George who made sure we were well looked after!👍
Jasmine
The absolute best for Sticky Date pudding ($15.00)

If you need need to pierce into something warm and hearty this winter, their Sticky Date pudding should be at the top of your list.
Making your way through that almost hidden wooden door and parking yourself in the darkly lit interior gives you that shroud of intimacy with you and your mates.

Although the service leaves a little more to be desired, Melbourne Supper Club is a whole different vibe from your brightly lit dessert places. The waiters are in full black tie gives a really unique and classy effect.

Best to share two of their desserts between three - make sure you order their amazing sticky date pudding too!
Jae Lee
Always a favorite after dinner place for good wine and dessert. Their creme brûlée, lemon tart and sticky date pudding never disappoint.
We had the best lobster Mac and cheese there once but never saw it on the menu again.
Their savory food and snack menu is sometimes a hit or miss but their desserts are always good.
Descartesmuse
If you live in Melbourne and have not been here yet, you are missing one of the iconic elements of what it is to be a melbournian. with its Chesterfield lounges, wine lists that goes on for pages and pages, you can relax in a world of charm and pretend that yes.. you could order that $5,000 bottle red if your really wanted to.
Brunny Girl
Great wine selection and they have cauliflower with cheese sauce! Comfy chesterfield chairs create a old world library/mens club feel. Service can be varied.
Emma
It’s quite a hidden place, with a small bar sign board and a hidden entry. However, the place is quite good, in terms of its service, food and ambience.
The steak is worth trying, especially the sauce comes with it. Dunno what’s inside exactly but it seems to be made by some kind of herbs, salt and chilli.
The prawn is just average. The mushroom flavour with the prawn is a bit strong for me.
The lemon tart is refreshing because I really need such a sour flavour after eating some steak and prawn.
Will take more friends there next time.
KnowingMelbourne
Actually one of my favourite bars in Melbourne. Unique and slightly hidden, but when you walk up the staircase you feel like you’re in someone’s fancy lounge room. Big couches, a nice snack menu and a drinks list that will make you happy. Perfect place for a one on one catch up or a night cap. Open late so a good one to keep in mind!
Hungry Sloth
Stumbled on this since we were staying at the Sheraton for two nights - it was 9pm and I looked for the closest place open til late with a 4+ rating nearby. Didn’t realize it was wine bar rather than a full restaurant ( my fault for not reading the full menu). We are not wine drinkers so review only reflects the food.

We were quickly seated in first floor for table of 2. Ambience was old school charm, dim lights, relaxed old library sort of vibe you see in old movies. Upstairs is a cigar bar so if you want food just stick with first floor.

We ordered the truffle duck liver parfait ( there’s also a foie gras one with $10 more). Portion was good for 1-2 people, brioche was toasted and warm. Liked this dish.

Poutine came in a big hot pan with decent amount of gravy, sprinkled with chives and melted mozzarella. It was good if you were after something hearty- portion was more for 3 people to share so we struggled to finish.

The prawn in garlic and side of bread- it was like a dull version of garlic prawn tapas , bread a little cold and stale but prawn was fine.

Also had the Margherita pizza which unfortunately was luke warm when served - tasted nice and simple though.

All dishes were plated appealingly rather than looking like cheap bar food ( which I have a lot of in Sydney).

All up the above was sufficient for two of us light eaters, bill came at $75 ( we ordered above 4 dishes plus one soft drink). We did see two separate tables of guys who showed up and ordered just wine and the sticky date pudding ( which was pretty enormous)- given we were so full we didn’t try it but seem to be a popular dish!

Overall a happy visit for late night dining - if you are looking for comfort food and ambience , obviously it’s not fine dining so don’t expect super refined food.

James
Great food and wine. One of the best wine lists in Australia. Come here fairly often. Generally service is hospitable and friendly but takes ages to get a water or service in general.
Dan K
Seemed to be highly recommended, but our experience was totally unremarkable and we left feeling distinctly ripped off with the cost. We popped in for a quick, small bite and a drink. Do not get the Croque Monsiuer. It’s woeful. You’d get a better one in a Starbucks, or an airport. And it was $18.50!!! “Shaved leg ham”.... how about ham from a packet of Coles sliced ham?? Very clearly supermarket ingredients. Serious profit margin there.

We also asked for a portion of the truffled duck parfait. Despite the portion being fairly small, and the measly portion of bread resembling more croutons than toasted brioche, it was tasty. You could taste the truffle.

When the bill came out we gave the feedback on the Croque Monsieur which was accepted, but then on the bill it transpired that we’d been charged for the duck foie gras, and not the parfait. 10 dollars more expensive. Not happening buddy, sorry. So the price was corrected.

I definitely won’t come back. I’m not on a budget, but value is important and the food here was distinctly stingy and of low quality and with a substantial cost.

This age old establishment has been around for aeons, Im surprised I only chanced upon it this year! Came here to grab a drink and dessert after dinner.
Loved the decor - like an old British club with old-style armchairs, lights, tables etc (none of these were old or shabby of course!).
Had the sticky date pudding and a glass of wine. Huge serve of pudding bathing in sticky caramel.
Might come around here for a more substantial meal soon!

Hats off to the folk at Melbourne Supper Club, a destination for many a late-night reveller in this town of ours looking for a last bottle before home. Comfy and relaxed with warm lighting, a very respectable wine list and kind and obliging staff. Sometimes I feel the huge chesterfields do make quiet conversation for groups a tad difficult, and some dishes have left me feeling tepid. All things considered though, a splendid place to finish many a splendid evening.
Alisino
Good for groups, they have an extensive drinks list. There is no cocktail menu but they make them to order.
Went for Friday night drinks after work so it took a while before our drinks were served.
Yap WenYi
Ordered their creme brûlée, brownie & sticky date pudding and all of them are sooo sho good! Sticky date pudding is really dense and rich! The caramel sauce is not too sweet. I’ll come back to this place when I’m visiting melb again!
Nimmy De Silva
Best desserts ! Creme brûlée is a must have, and we had a Marsala wine that was exquisite! Lounge seating and European setting is nice and cosy.

Points for: Opening hours, menu variety
Try: duck liver parfait
Good for a late night drink and snack with a group. Menu selection is impressive and sounds good, but probably not pulled off as good as it sounds.
The sticky date pudding was more like a dry-ish microwaved muffin swimming in butterscotch sauce, with a "quenelle" of vanilla iced cream.
The service was a bit questionable as well. We were shown to a table by an uninterested waitress who returned 10 minutes later to take our order, again with the same dismissive attitude. Did she not like waitressing at 11pm on a Tues night? Guess what, you might have a long shift ahead of you because it's open till 4am.
The ambiance is very casual, like an old school English library feel with old armchairs, leather sofas, worn out books and dim lamps.
If you're in desperate need for a quiet wine, snack and chat at 2am, is one of the few places you'd find in the CBD. Oh there's also Shujinko and Stalactites.

I had heard of this place for an age but had never called in. Apparently it's been around even before I started living in Melbourne (if such a time existed 🙂). That makes it at least 17 years old. I found the minimalist sign and quite plain door and went upstairs to a laid back oasis from all the hustle and bustle peak hour and of prix fixe dining downstairs ahead of the theatre showing. We chose the chesterfield near a large round window that reminded me of play school. Looking back to the end of the room from our lofty vantage point we saw a slightly older crowd and an amazing array of spaces and nooks to have a quiet intimate drink.

Comfy and warm we ordered G&T's and Rosé, perhaps pretending it wasn't in the middle of winter. We both weren't feeling hungry for dinner so grabbed a few snacks to sort us out food wise for the evening. Delicious olives with sourdough. Chunky crunchy polenta chips nicely stacked which we kidded ourselves into believing were a healthier choice to the fried chicken nibbles which definitely had a certain evilness about them. Moorish that's for sure.

Staff were very friendly and attentive and made "classic" cocktails to order but didn't have a cocktail list as such. They did have a 66 page drinks list with extended ranges of spirits and extensive wine list as demonstrated by all the bottles decorating the walls. Even had Plymouth Gin which I do enjoy so that's a big thumbs up 👍🏽
Two Bears And A Fork
Without a doubt, MSC has a great vibe and feel - and a brilliant outdoor seating area/view.... that's if you can find the front door to the joint! LOL! We had a few sips to drink, my buddies munched on a couple of Croque monsieurs, I nibbled on some fries and sauce, then another serve of fries with crazy-insanely-overpowering sauce came out.... Hubby thought the croque monsieurs were good - but after a few bites the flavour got over-powering. But our friends LOVED them, so it goes to show - one man's treasure.....!!! Anyhoo, if you want to impress your date by looking like you're part of some 'secret' in-club, and are after some nice chillaxed ambiance, AND you're keen to see what's been keeping people coming back to this place for ages... check them out! ;)

rude hostess just glare at us & said "upstairs" then walk off. being there for the first time we were unsure about the setting, so we walked 3 flights of stairs to find out we were suppose to hang out there (don't know if they serve drinks at all) until further notice. so we left. diners there were interesting bunch, one guy said to us "table for five!" on our way out assuming we were the missing hostess. will not go back.

The wine here is AMAZING. But they'll serve you soft cheese with a core in it ($17) and tell you that as soft cheese ages, it creates a core. This is clearly incorrect and backwards to anyone who knows anything about cheese. They'll also offer you a choice of "sparkling" or "still" water, and when you opt for "still" charge $10.50-- and claim they gave you the option of "tap" which they'll say you ignored. Why I'd order a first bottle of "still" water (which came in an old Smirnoff bottle) then want to pay $10.50 for a second bottle of "still" water is beyond me.

Great wine, dishonest waiters... who could afford to know more about the wine they sell rather than aiming for the most expensive. But seriously, don't think you can dupe me about cheese- you just seem insultingly dishonest.

How awesome it is that at 2 am in the morning you could still find something to eat? Got a bit hungry just after we touched down Melbourne (photos are taken from last year trip) so decided to go to this place. We ordered one big meal and share it between the two of us. We love the ambience and drinks here. Too bad the pictures are blurry because it is quite dark inside.
Sallysfoodadventures
Lovely food here as always, but the roof top bar/restaurant is in fact a cigar bar, my friend and I didn't realize this until we were seated and everyone was smoking. So if you'd like to not be eating dinner with cigar smoke, the first floor indoors is still really nice. The staff are really friendly and happy, and it was very busy on Saturday night so we waited a bit to be seated (as expected), however, because we had wine in our hands from the bar when we were seated and no menus, we waited a long time for menus because the waitstaff didn't realized we only just sat down. But soon as our glasses were empty, they were on us like puppies with a treat and made sure we were looked after. The vibe is really good, great wine, the smoked salmon thing I could eat three of those. I enjoyed the pace, I loved the seductive jazz they were playing. The staff here are happy, we enjoyed our evening here.
Gee
Late night snacks meant we ended up at Supper Club. Had the polenta chips, sausage rolls, cold meats and currywurst. The sausage rolls were the standout for me but would like to try a few more things on the menu!
Geoff
Delightful and relaxing with a cool warmth. Music food guests happy and functional. Menu old but reliable. No chocolate ants or fried cockroaches here. It's comfort food and comfort shelter. Wear your comfort clothes and be cosseted in safe surrounds. Music is timeless maybe from the 50s and international bland. Wonderfully free of irritants. A cigar bar above for indulgence in tobacco. Sweet dreams and reality thankfully intersect here.
High Expectations
What a cool place this is and it's in a fantastic spot on the roof top with great views. We just had drinks. I was able to describe what flavour combination I would like in a cocktail and they whipped it up to perfection. I would like to come back here again and spend more time.
ToorakM
What a heavenly space - we indulged far too much already this weekend and was staying at the Windsor so worked this area for drinks a bit too much!

Firstly it's so warm and inviting, lots of wood and leather and very attentive staff.

We got a bottle of our fave the Egly Ouriet Champagne as we were with friends and wow what a setting for a special drop!

We didn't eat here but the food that was at the lounge over looked incredible - we will be back for more next weekend!
Go Find Alice
Pretty awesome vibes and drinks overlooking Parliament! Superb service and the food was alright (desserts, at least). Most well known for their sticky date pudding but personally I liked the orange zesty creme brûlée better.

Opens until late. Perfect for a quiet date night!
Steph
One of my favourite places to go for a chilled / romantic / relaxed / intimate night out. The staff are really great and know their cheeses and wines inside and out! Always a great vibe when you're there.

晚上约着好友在这里聊聊天,听听音乐,喝杯酒,吃个甜品,真的非常舒服,室外的阳台可以看到远处的教堂。
my friend took me here at a sleepless night. it turned out being a wonderful night. glass of whisky and a bite of sticky date pudding. great view and relaxing music.

I wish they would open earlier for not just the cosy stylish interior but also a the nice balcony look out.
The sticky date pudding didn't taste as good as I had last time(6 years ago) Something about the sauce - could have been more delicate...nevertheless, it's still one of the (my word) best sophisticate club for drinks and Jazz music.

Bon Jovi's "Living on a prayer" is a song which will live on for eons and centuries to come. The song will out live our generation, our kids generation, our kids kids generation and so on. Same with this place here. The supper club is like "living on a prayer", and provided it keeps doing what it has been doing with out trying to fix what is not broken, it to will be paddling beside " living on a prayer" by Bon Jovi into the 5th Dimension and beyond. Great. Thank you.

Mmmmmmmmm. Perfect for the late night munchies....the REAL late night munchies. As far as I know, they're open till 3am on week nights and even later on the weekends. The polenta fries and sticky date pudding are divine, especially when slightly tipsy. I'd come back just for those. The cosy atmosphere and service also works very well, not uncomfortable and noisy like some bars can get.

Great place open all night!! We discovered this place 4 years ago and go back fairly regularly. Being French, we like to have late dinner or drinks and miss places that stay open so late, which Melbourne unfortunately doesn't have much of. So whenever we are looking for somewhere to eat or drink late at night in the CBD, this is where we go! The room inside has a great atmosphere with dim lighting, Chesterfield sofas and lots of wood with a view on the parliament (if you sit by the window), and it is just as good in winter, as the rooftop is in summer, with also obviously a great view on the parliament and candle lighting. Tapas food is really tasty and the sticky date pudding is to die for! Great choice of wines and whiskies and cocktails are good too. Really good atmosphere - stylish yet relaxed. Rooftop can be very busy when the weather is good!
One Piece Left
The best thing about The Melbourne Supper Club is that it is open late. And when I say late, I mean very late, like it is open until 6 AM on Friday and Saturday and until 4 AM all other days! The beauty of it is that their food menu is available throughout this whole time. None of that 'bar menu' or having a different menu after 11 PM like most other places. You could have oysters and duck liver parfait at 3 AM if you wanted to and where else can you do that? So it's safe to say that it's great place to drop by for a very late dinner when most other places are closed, or for a night cap after a night out in the city.

Entry into The Melbourne Supper Club is through a narrow doorway and up some stairs where you will be greeted by some very switched on staff. The place has a great atmosphere, with the dim lighting, Chesterfield sofas, wooden tables and great view if you're lucky to be seated by the large window.

The drinks menu is extensive and comes leather bound. They have a large range of everything - cocktails, wine, whisky, you name it! Drinks are on the more expensive side compared to other bars though but I perhaps it's because they are open so late.

As mentioned, the food menu is available throughout the whole night and when we reviewed it, was quite excited to be able to try some of their great food at such a late hour. So on that particular night we decided on the Petuna smoked salmon with toasted dark rye and crème fraîche, the truffled duck liver parfait with pear and toasted brioche and the crumbed flathead tacos with red slaw and chipotle aioli. This was of course just our entrees! All the dishes were quite nice, the duck liver parfait was especially super smooth and went really well with the pear and brioche bread. The smoked salmon was also lovely, not too salty and was complimented well with the crème fraîche.

For the mains, we got the 250g Wagyu skirt steak with celeriac remoulade and house pickles and the fish of the day with asparagus and capers. The mains were probably our least favourite as they were just average compared to the entrees. They weren't bad but weren't amazing either. We definitely enjoyed the entrees more and would probably order more of them instead of the mains next time.

My favourite was the dessert which was the lemon tart. It was sooo good and I would definitely come back just for this! It had the perfect amount of lemony tang and was oh so smooth. A dollop of cream on the side made it the perfect dessert.

So if it's very late at night and you're wondering where to go, think about The Melbourne Supper Club as they will be always be there for you!
Some Like It Hot
Great venue for quiet drinks with friends. Lovely old school charm with impeccable service. The waiters know the craft well. The cocktails are great and the bar snacks are lovely. We had the nuts which were really good. I also had the olives and spanakopita. The venue has lovely leather armchairs and a great view of parliament through the back window. Only complaint was it was pretty warm in there. Needs aircon. Will return when next in town :)

One of my earliest memories of Melbourne surrounds the Supper Club pre-Siglo. This incredible collection of places to eat and drink at made an instant impact. We went back for more, again and again; despite the headache the next morning. We never really learned our lesson, as all good and bad drinkers tend to do. Funnily enough, this means this venue is etched into our minds like not many other places that we cannot remember!
Carl The Truth
Always an essential when finishing a night off in the CBD. Massive wine list and attentive service keeps bringing me back. Try and get a spot on the " casting couch " by the front window.

Great mood in this bar,has a very European vibe. My absolute favourite tiramisu ever! Don't ever change it
Drinks by the glass a bit exxy but never stops me from ordering
Kitty Mckenzie Johnson
My favorite after midnight snack and drink haunt. One word food wise POUTINE and then another SAUSAGE ROLLS. THe staff are always lovely enough and with the great decore and comfy couches set with low tables and candles im in early morning heaven.

Tiramisu, 11.50AUDMy friend Rachel recommended that we should visit The Melbourne Supper Club for desserts. We went straight here after dinner in the city to discover an upmarket bar with classic chesterfields all around. No drinks and just desserts in a bar? Yeap, not weird at all. We picked two desserts to share and I had to order my favourite classic dessert, that is, the Tiramisu! I loved the coffee packed flavour sponged fingers, which clearly managed to have absorbed all that coffee. We were also satisfied with the huge three sticks of dark chocolate cigars, I mean, that's plenty.
Onara
An institution. One with an extraordinary booze menu - all manner of wines & spirits. The food isn't necessarily memorable but everything you imbibe will be. Arrive late. Stay later. Sit by the window

Great atmosphere, fantastic view, delightful sticky date pudding, in fact the best so far. Ideal destination for a couple of drinks after work to unwind.
Loz Arthur
A delightful place to pop in for a drink!! A really great atmosphere and very pleasant wait staff! A perfect bar to grab a seat by the huge window overlooking Parliament House and wile the evening away. Perfect destination for a cold wintery Melbourne evening!!
Binula
An excellent place for a quiet catch up or to unwind at the end of a night. An amazing selection of wines and whiskey, professional and courteous service in a multi-level venue including a rooftop which is amazing in the summer. They do a good range of snack foods too and hours often go by just chatting away on their couches
PEKISH
Enjoyed the drinks here, nice & relaxed atmosphere. Good to go & chill out with friends. Will try their food soon, but have had mixed reviews by a few people.

A Melbourne institution we've been coming to Supper Club for years, and still love it. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the red head lady who served us was particularly awesome.
Out & About
Really nice old world feel. Come here after 1 for some oysters, a cheese plate & a bottle of something nice. This is civilised & expensive. Service is non-chalaunt but fun.

This place is simply amazing. What a venue. What a hype. Just love to sit and chill. Love drinking my favorite desert wine after a scrumptious meal at Ginger Boy or longrain. Which are just around the corner. This place is the perfect spot to end a great night. One of Melbourne's treasures. It's a must try!!!! Toodles

Only a geat place for having drinks.. Wouldn't recommend this place for food.. food is very pricey and the portion is very tiny. You won't get full.. But great customer sevice
Lindajing
Great atmosphere! Shared the polenta chips, paella and one of the salads with a friend for dinner and they were all delicious. Really wish that I left some room for dessert!
Julie
Really relaxed and chilled out with good food and good service. The polenta chips are delicious! A bit pricey but the chesterfields sort of make up for it.

Worst service. We went on Saturday night after a show for drinks, downstairs was full so we went upstairs, found a bar table with some stools as there were't any tables available, we put our names on the list for a table and ordered some drinks in the meantime, the waiter eventually got our oder and when he brought our drinks I spilled my drink as I placed it on the table when he handed it over as the table was wobbly. The drink went all over the table and one of the people in our group, the waiter just stood there, we asked him for some napkins and he just handed us the metal napkin holder from another table and walked away. We assumed he would return with a cloth to wipe the table but he didn't return. We called him over and ordered another cocktail and he said, ok I'll just add it to the bill! He brought the drink with the bill and we asked him if he could clean the table as it was sticky and collect all the wet napkins from the table, he just took the napkins returned with the bill and never cleaned the table. When we paid for the drinks by card he told me not to press o.k before adding the tip, I told him I would add the tip on the next bill as we would be ordering more drinks ( the bill for 5 drinks was $150!). After an hour and a half we went to ask what was happening with our table and we were told the person writing the names had left but they would find us a table, we eventually got a table, ordered more drinks and food, I asked the same waiter for some sauce for our sausage rolls and he brought back salt! His first language was not English clearly! I then asked another girl for a glass of water and she apologised saying our waiter should have brought us all some water and brought us water. Apart from the terrible service the ones that ate the sausage rolls were sick all night from food poisoning! Very disappointing as we've been there many times in the past and my husband always goes with work colleagues for drinks and the service used to be good.

Great service. Great menu. Always consistently happy and knowledgeable staff.

My friends who first took me here always raved about the lemon tart ($9), which was a winner on this occasion too. The hard, savoury base and cream on the side balances out the tanginess of the rich lemon tart. The tiramisu ($11.50) was creamy as expected and nothing too amazing. We did wonder if the three chocolate sticks were placed there purposely to serve us three or if it was part of the staple decoration. The churros con chocolate ($12) were surprisingly addictive, coated lightly in sugar and served with a dark chocolate dip. I don’t enjoy dark chocolate a great deal but it seemed to go with the churros well along with sips of tea. I’ve also tried the sticky date pudding ($11.50) in previous visits and would gladly recommend that too.

The Melbourne Supper Club, a Melbourne spirit tasting institution, has been offering the best crème brulee in town for many years. With its classy interior and leather lounges, and its romantic rooftop overlooking Victorian Parliament, it is perfect for any occasion.

The Melbourne Supper Club to me is late night, deep & meaningful chats until 4am. Party pies with tomato sauce & chutney. Superb red wine, coffee, hot chocolates & blue velour seats.

It’s a beautiful space full of plush furniture and elegant touches. My favourite spot is by the enormous bay window overlooking Spring St and Parliament. Their bar menu, full of hearty delights like mac and cheese, gourmet sausage rolls and polenta chips, is perfect for late night snacking. Wine connoisseurs will appreciate the epic wine list boasting an overwhelming catalogue of wine varieties and regions.

After you climb a flight of stairs once you find the entrance which is a virtually unmarked door next to the European, you will receive a friendly greeting and be quizzed as to whether you simply want a drink or a long and lavish indulgence.

The night view from the second floor of this restaurant is FANTASTIC!!! Request the waiter whether you could have a seat outside the balcony. The night view of the Parliament House will awe you to the max! :D
My Seasonal Table
Foie gras. Oh lordie! Decadent and creamy with brioche and some sort of sweet paste. Fantastic stuff, if you've not had this delicious and politically incorrect delicacy, then give yourself a treat, even if it is just the once. So good in fact that we had 5 serves-yes 5! It was date night after all.
Sweet And Sour Fork
... Creme Brulee ($11.5). This was done well, with a thick and eggy custard hidden by a layer of toffee that straddled the perfect line between burnt and... not burnt. It was just slightly bitter but still full of crunchy, sugary goodness.

The Melbourne Supper Club bar is one of four establishments, along with The European, City Wine Shop and Siglo Bar, to occupy the Ian Curley precinct on Spring Street. Wi

Their wine list was not long (not even a quarter as long as Rockpool's!) but they seemed to have a pretty good international wine selection (although my favourite Nivole was not there). Anyway, we were not planning on having drinks, so we ordered some of their European-influenced food; polenta chips (served with aioli), meatball (served with bread and covered in red pasta sauce), fried prawn and lemongrass wonton (served with sweet chilli sauce), and creme brûlée.

I've been wanting to come here since like forever, and by that I mean at least as early as 2008. I had heard many great things about the place and its choice of name intrigued me. So with such biases in mind, I pranced off in good spirit(ie I hailed a cab from QV to Spring St whilst cursing the torrential downpour) to the Supper Club on one rainy night, not too long ago. There was already a table and a couch waiting by the time I arrived late and drenched. Soon after, I also had a drink in hand. The night just got better as the food came around. Four items were picked off the menu. however once they were placed on the table, we then critically evaluated the order in which they should be consumed. 1. We began with the smoked salmon with capers and creme fraiche because of its comparatively delicate flavour. The smoked salmon was divine! 2. Then we moved onto the dumplings which had gorgeous ingredients but were perhaps too strongly flavoured. It was almost enough to render the sweet chi

The food isn’t spectacular but the polenta chips and welsh rarebit we shared were just what our pickled bodies craved.

Funny how The European has been one of my favourite haunts but I’ve never actually paid any attention to that unassuming door right next to it. Ascending the flight of stairs to the Supper Club, I braced myself for some pretentious snobbery from the staff

Had this one male staff who was incredibly rude and looked like he had something up his ass all night because of the face he would pull. Cool vibe but not worth going back for.
Roxy.powers2
Average. Foods good but overpriced and HORRIBLE service. i will come back for the sticky date pudding however think the price should be lowered JUST for horrible staff and think labor charges shouldn't be included in my dining experience. Sad to say as I am a regular.

Rude staff, slow service and overpriced food and drink. So many more better places in Melbourne to enjoy a late night snack and quality drink
Melbourne_Robot
Great late night drinks and dining. The polenta chips are impressive. Fluffy inside, light crust outside. Nicely balanced dipping sauce.
Wines we tried by the glass were both fantastic.
This is not a cheap venue but well worth it.

Great atmosphere, poor service and don't eat here. The Melbourne Supper Club offers possibly the largest wine list in Melbourne CBD. My favourite part about this establishment is its old school, dimly lit ambiance and vintage tufted couches; the perfect place for a late night red. I don't recommend eating at the Supper Club though, as I wasn't impressed with the taste of the dishes. Most of them are one dimensional (particularly the pork ribs which was way too salty) or in dismal portion sizes - overall not very worth your money. Go downstairs to the City Wine Shop for better gourmet fare and friendlier wait staff.

We were rejected cause we had more people. The waitress that we at the door asked to look for somewhere else. We are loyal customers and the service was great BEFORE tonight, 28th December 2014. It will be the last for an expenditure or 500AUD every fortnight. The unpleasant service was unexpected and shocking. I am in the service industry as well and I have never encountered such racism. They jusged when you walked through the door. I wouldn't recommend this place cause there are better places for wines and desserts.

I've been a loyal fan of Melbourne supper club until tonight (Sunday, 28th December). Firstly, we were turned away because we APPARENTLY had too many people (the girl said 12 was too many) but then when we tried to ask again, we were told that 8 was the maximum, despite the fact that we had 10 people (sneakily changed the numbers apparently) and when we asked if we could split the group they said no, despite the fact that there were empty seats all around. Hmmmm...

When we managed to finally get a seat (a different girl showed us to the table... AGAIN, very conflicting), all was good for the first few minutes. For some reason, the girl changed her attitude towards us, and started being sarcastic and snarky. In fact, she made and implied comments that were racist and rude.

Needless to say, this is my last time here. Amazing food, perfect ambience, horrible service. And I am terribly disappointed because I've always had the best service here, until tonight. Never again.

Incredible atmosphere! Glorious French food! The staff, although quite hostile were reminiscent of true Paris. Definetly going again!

Lives up to the hype. I had been meaning to com where for ages and finally walked up the stairs on a friday night. The place was packed and we were lucky enough to secure a table for 4. A couch would have been preferred but we were happy to just get a seat. The interior is rather impressive with dimmed lighting, a big arched window and artwork on the walls. We settled in and ordered a round of cocktails. With no cocktail list the waitress said we could order anything and they would make it up for us. Their espresso martini was handy however one of our party asked for something 'citrusy' and got a standard cosmopolitan.
The shared food that was arriving on tables around us looked of a good standard and well worth a taste.
Happy i have been and I would return

Agree about the rude service. Waitress (French I think ) spilled the drink, didn't apologise , had to be asked to mop it up, rolled her eyes as if to say 'this is SO beneath me...' And was huffy when she didn't get a tip. Fortunately a tv producer was with us and the hidden camera footage will be on you tube tonight - looser!! Otherwise a nice place (note to management - get rid of the bad staff!)

Terrible customer service. We went there for our friend's 22nd birthday, so we popped a champagne bottle and had some wine, drinks were good overall and desserts were nice, but the customer service is horrendous, we just brought a small piece of cake to celebrate our friend's and they were being so rude to us, telling us we can't have forks to eat the cake, what ridiculous nonsense, they kept coming back to tell us that we can't have the cake but not in a nice way either, we weren't really asking for much. Just because of the service, we would not want to come back again.

The cost of a cold coffee. $20.40 for three lukewarm coffees... Enough said.

Appalling service. Used to love coming here and enjoy a glass of wine and nibbles, but unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience at Melbourne Supper Club over the weekend. I’m absolutely appalled that an establishment of this calibre is comfortable having arrogant and insolent staff serve customers. It might be a good idea to review the service and give staff some pointers on how to interact with other humans. If it's common practice to discriminate against certain people, perhaps it’s not a good idea to do it so openly? Good luck.
Jojo
Wine by the glass- AVOID. Food really good. House wines (red) and champagne- average. Both very bitter and absolutely feral. AVOID

More of a question. I love the Supper Club have always had a wonderful time here however I have never paid attention to what is on offer for the non alcoholic drinkers. How is the coffee and so on here?
Chris
Yum!. An enjoyable dining experience.

Go elsewhere. This place would be wonderful if they replaced the wait staff who I would describe as extremely lazy and obnoxious. Go to a bar with fantastic service like hihou or gin palace. There are so many great options in melbourne. These guys need to smarten up.
