First time having the bagels here, and man was I blown away. Love the hole in the wall vibes. We’re back in NZ now and missing the bagels!!!
I love this place ! The owners Marcus & Annabelle are the loveliest people, great food and the grooviest ambience ! The crew behind the machine are always pumping out the best "barista" made coffee in the area, 10 stars from me :)

Every now and again you come across a quirky place that just ticks all your boxes. For me, that is Jungle Juice. Located in the ever funky short little street of Centre Place between Flinders Lane and Collins Street, this tiny (and I mean tiny - all of 19 sqm) is big on style and personality. From the retro menus that are repurposed Little Golden Books to the alternative posters on the wall, Jungle Juice oozes the cafe style that Melbourne is known for. Even the simple things such as the table tops that are like table tennis tables, the Slades water bottles from yesteryear and even the sweet little 1950’s spoon to stir my coffee is the touch that separates ‘the men from the boys’ (excuse the sexist analogy but it’s the only one I could think of). It’s all well thought out but also evolving as new ideas formulate with the owners. Tables are little and that’s all you need. Plus a great 80’s playlist Humming away in the background. This isn’t somewhere you’d necessarily come and sit on a meal for two hours (although I’m sure some people do). This is a place to eat, drink, chat and move along. Food is simple fare but big on taste. How they pump out consistent quality in such a tiny space in itself is a miracle.
I came here for lunch a few weeks ago and had the most delicious bagel with a latte. Today I had a muffin with Nutella and a chocolate frog - not for the cholesterolly challenged! And another great latte. Thanks Mr Barista.
Staff are great and so easy going with a big focus on customer service. A smile and a chat goes a long way. Shout out to Marcus and the team for making a wet, cold, rainy day in Melbourne just a little brighter.
Take note big chain coffee shops - this is how it’s meant to be.
Notes: suitable for vegetarians and dietaries are catered for. Not really wheelchair friendly but if you have a frame or cane you’d be fine. Also kid friendly. Takeaway available.
Lovely service, delicious food! Bagels were fresh and filling, and the coffee was superb. Would definitely go again. The barista / server seemed very interested and pleasant towards all customers
Wonderful food and place, perfected with a warm, amicable service. The bagels are something— toasted just right and with a touch of sesame. definitely returning!
Amazing little joint for breakky.. it was packed early in the morning, seatings were small but not uncomfortable.. menus were cute too.. we had the McBagel which was very tasty and a couple of coffees (Saigon and a Cappuccino).. the coffee was nice and strong.. overall a great experience.. would come back to try the other coffees and bagels.. they also have a very good takeaway deal for $12 which gets you a bagel and a coffee..
Weather you are a tourist and would like to get lost in the Melbourne cute lane ways, or spending a weekend in the city or scape from office and want to get away from your desk, here is a place that I recommend to spend a few bucks in the heart of city, enjoy both good music and Melbourne food culture, plus receiving friendly service, good meal and coffee. Yeah why not.
I grabbed a take away piccolo latte from here. The service was excellent, and the barista spot on.
The barista asked me if I wanted a single or double shot of coffee. Perfect.
I was in and out quicker than I could take more than one photo but I wasn’t complaining lol.
This place is definitely worth a visit.
Stumbled upon this small place in the alley. We found really good coffee and nice soft warm muffin and very friendly service! Very cute menu hidden in children’s story book cover. Thanks guys!
Great coffee and juices. Limited seating but staff don't try to shoo you out in a hurry. Great for casual breakfast and good range of bagels, nothing fancy but good quality. Best place to eat down degraves hands down.
Yeah. You surely can have the best bagel in melbourne in here. Moreover they have pretty decent drink as well such as coffee and tea latte :)
Cutest little cafe on one of Melbourne’s laneways, we were lucky to get seating. The staff were really friendly and accommodating in every way. The highlights for us was the haloumi bagels and the Reuben bagel. Every aspect of it was amazing and made with care. The chill portion was large and delicious too. Different drinks including fresh juice available. Even though the chai wasn’t a highlight, the coffee is well made. Overall a really great experience at Jungle Juice.
In looooooove with friendly, fun & bubbly staff!!!! Highly recommended!!!!! Perfect little spot for when you wanna relax or fun or chat or etc.... great coffee with little cake or bagels!!! Or even beer with some little snack!!!! I would go like everyday if I live in Melb!! Just a perfect place!!!!!:)
One of my favourite places to grab a quick bagel breakfast. I always get their $12 takeaway deal which comes with a bagel (I usually opt for the “BLAT” or “McBagel”) and fresh juice. Super friendly staff and consistently delicious food.
Staff was definitely one of the main highlights of this little cafe - extremely friendly and smiley.
The food was great, I chose the brekkie which had tabasco on top and forgot to omit that when I ordered as I don't eat spicy foods. However, it was very enjoyable at a mild spice level paired with some mashed avocado on the side ;) - the avocado could have been fresher though. Oh, and also, coffee was excelente 😇
Overall a great experience and food was very filling.
Great little hidden gem of a cafe!
Highly recommend this place for great value for your money, the food is excellent and the service impeccable.
The staff are quick, friendly and attentive. The owner of the place is there quite often who is extremely warm and welcoming.
We love going there atleast a couple of times a month. Best cafe in town!
:)
Super friendly staff who served our coffees and food very quickly. Bagels weren't crazy fancy but so good and the coffee was nailed. A great selection of coffees available Too, the Vietnamese iced coffee was fantastic.
The staffs were super friendly and I felt they love the shop very much. I ordered Kaiser bagle and that was fresh and very reasonable. The mayo souce was bit salty for me but overal I was satisfied. I had nice experience at iconic street in Melbourne.

10.10.2017 uploaded after responce from manager of the shop and I realised I misunderstood the menu.
Best bagels ever, and the service is awesome. All staff are super friendly. The owner is lovely. My boyfriend and I keep coming back whenever we can.
Yummy food - fresh and cheap. Had smoked pork belly Bagel - the sour pickles and smoked pork was a very good combination. It was a hard place to find though
Wow! Cutest place I have been to in a while, has a really cosy inside seating area and outdoor seating available. The service was positive which created a really lovely environment to have a chai latte on a cold day! Would recommend if your after a cute vintage cafe
It was my second time patronizing this small and quaint cafe and was still thoroughly impressed with their bagels. I personally like the omelette as it has a good blend of flavors and it was filling. On top of that, the owner of the cafe was extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place!
Extremely pleasant with the visit. Hidden gem in centre place, make sure you really go to every store to find out this place. It's signage well camouflaged !
Staff were amazing and very very friendly, menu is creative and in form of cute storybooks. Place is cosy and small but get really busy during lunch time.
The food exceeded my expectations for this post. Caught me by surprise, the bagel were very crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside And very very fragrant.
The pork belly:
Juicy pork, fresh vege, soft bagel. Well blend
Breakfast- egg and bacon:
What could be better than seeing a runny yolk in centre of a bagel! BACONS!
Haloumi:
Bagel with grilled haloumi. Unique, different, and delicious. Not much needed to be said
It's really easy to miss this place since it's a small cafe, but the bagels here are simply amazing! Very simple yet unique, freshly made and very tasteful.
Tiny little place in the bustling Degraves Laneway. Amazing food, service and coffee. I had the halloumi bagel which was perfect. The bagel was fresh and crispy and the flavour combination was great. Highly recommended!
Love this place! Quintessentially melbourne, front house run by a lovely guy and the food is delish! Would be a 5/5 if the bagel maker smiled more 😊
Amazing...love this place soo much. The coffee and bagels are soul nourishing after a big night (Try the mcBagel) The John West bagel is the star here, such a great combination of flavours. Also make sure you try the juice of the day!
What a compact cafe packed with awesome bagels and super friendly staff! I can never recommend Dirty Don more!!! Love the smoky sausages and the perfectly fried egg; what's more important, the texture of the crispy fresh bagel was divine. Much better quality and more reasonable prices than MP.
I came here for a quick bite. I was welcomed by friendly staff. I ordered a long black and a salmon bagel. The serving of the salmon and the avocado in the bagel was so generous! The ingredients were fresh. Long black was up to my standard. Excellent place for lunch.
This place may look like just another hole in the wall, but this is a great place to hide and eat!
Awesome spot for a quick takeaway breakfast. They do a $12 bagel and fresh juice combo. It can be a bit confusing to order as the venue is pretty small and hard to find, but once you get the hang of it you'll be a regular.
Kind of had difficulty in finding this place honestly, because their 'Jungle Juice' sign is very small compared to the other cafés. The shop itself is small too, but it has good ambience. I love their music. I was amused by their children storybook-like menu, it's creative. Had a hard time deciding between their juice or Vietnamese iced coffee, and the salmon bagel or bloody mary bagel. Ended up ordering the coffee and salmon bagel. I love the coffee very much. I used to wonder why this place got a really high rating, now I've found out why.
This place is awesome for great tasting breaky/ brunch/lunch-style bagels. Diverse range on the menu to choose from. In house juice blended on request too. The place is a little cramped, but will not hinder your experience in there. If anything it enhances your experience in the cafe, able to engage in friendly conversation with the owner and if you're an 80 or 90s music fan, throw out a song request to him - they are welcome. VIP treatment in here.
One of my favorite places in Melbourne! I take out of Towners and locals here whenever I can or chill with a Vietnamese coffee on the tiny outdoor tables and watch the world go by. This place is seriously tiny and you would be forgiven for walking past and not noticing it.
The food is simple but oh so good. Menus can be found in old recycled golden books - the kind you had as a child. They do a great coffee and have a few special add ons like a African spiced coffee or sweet and tasty Vietnamese coffee. I always try to grab a outdoor seat though the indoor tiny tables are nice and warm. If you finish lunch and feel like a beer they also can provide! Or better yet head up the stairs and discover hells bar!
This small cafe at inner side of Centre Pl with many other cafes & cute shops. Coffee is excellent & light taste of fresh juice with apple, orange, mint and ginger would be nice for adults in summer.
Friendly staff really recommended a lot of "Specials". I ordered Fish fingers. Some places use chef's term "Specials" and it sounds awesome isn't it? I had to find out if it is exist here...Bingo!
Loyal from menu with beautiful looking scramble egg (requested), bacon, fresh salad, warm cucumber picles over the bagel. May be because of windy and slightly cold weather made bagels hard and dry not crispy chewy. I love kids friendly customer service and good try on busy Saturday blunch with "Specials".
Tasty bagels at reasonable prices. Fresh juice of the day was delicious. Good for a quick bite to eat on your lunch break or after shopping in the city. Breakfast bagels available too. I ate the kransky bagels and it was delicious. Friendly staff with good service.
This place has been here for over 15 years and this is the first time for me, relaxed attentive staff, we had the haloumi bagel, Yum, a couple of still warm fantale cupcakes and a cricketers arms lager, great way to finish the day in Melbourne.
This is my favourite place to eat in the city. I love the veggo bagel so much. I'm never disappointed when I go. The coffee and juice of the day are great too :)
Nice coffee. The bagel is amazing. Friendly service. I had a nice chat with the owner while enjoying my breakfast: the kransky bagel. My bagel was delicious! I will definitely be back if i'm looking for a quick breakfast in the CBD or lunch.
Chose to get some lunch at Jungle Juice because of the extremely high score on zomato. When I arrived I realised that I had been here before. The previous time I really liked it, it's very small and cute and the service was friendly then, and now as well. I grabbed the takeaway lunch special, with a vego bagel and a juice for $12. The juice was nice. The bagel, mwoah... I might be wrong but it didn't taste fresh, it was a bit chewy. I had a bagel the other day at Brown Bagels which tasted really nice and fresh with a crispy crust, so this bagel just didn't cut it. It had a lot of sauce as well, too much to my liking. I think it's a bit overrated.
The bangle is so great and the yummy sweet and sour sauce in there tastes awesome that matches every flavour together. I can't wait to take the second bite. In a word, I love the bangles here😆😆
This place is brilliant - albeit cramped! Didn't get the chance to try their bagels but they looked and smelled really good. A bit hard to locate but worth the search! Had the Saigon coffee and it was great! Reminds me of Asia
Alice in wonderland, that's how I feel when I first entered the shop. From the moment you are handed the menu in form of a storybook, it feels like you are transported back in a children's fairytale. That aside, its not often that I enjoy squeezing in a small dining area, but this time I actually do. It's a great space to brunch while observing the cafe owners busying with their tasks. Their bagels are nicely toasted and beautifully put together, it's a great way to start a day.
I had no idea this cafe was called Jungle Juice as I was looking at the sign pointing to Hell’s Kitchen upstairs, but looking at JJ’s menu posted on the wall. I found something I thought I’d like so I dropped in. I am sure as heck that #4 was fried egg and not fried cheese on the outside menu… I assumed that’s why it was cheaper than the rest so I ordered #1 to be safe.
Very hard to find this tinny restaurant🌚 my haloumi bagel is good but my friend's eggmite is so strange. I think the cartoon menu is special, but does anyone know that my menu lost one page??? I only have two pages to take order🙄
My favourite place to start my mornings when I'm in the city.
The coffee is perfectly strong and consistent.
The 'Haloumi Bagel' is simple and delicious, with a well put together combination of flavours, and just enough to kickstart my morning.
Staff was friendly. Hippy style ambiance. We had a bagel & their juice was good. Casual ambiance & price affordable. Too small space so if busy it's crowded. Am not a huge bagel fan. Overall rating 3.8*
Has to be up there for the best coffee in Melbourne! The brooklyn bagel is might tasty too, been going here for years and it's just awesome!
their bagels are awesome. i personally love their kransky. a small cafe located in Degraves St. staff are friendly and very accommodating. their storybook menu is cute too!
Came here for a nice brunch, small cosy cafe with a nice atmosphere if you just want to chill with a friend. Ordered the BLAT and McBagel, both were filling and well worth it for the price. Service was good and would definitely comeback to try other things on the menu!
Had the salmon and BLAT bagels. Loved the bagels as they were soft and warm. Fillings were decent. Loved that the bagels had sesame seeds on them too. Coffee was alright, tasted bitter when we first tried it but after taste was not too bad. Initially asked for bagels without the rocket but waitress got it wrong and only gave one of them without rocket. But they were kind enough to remove them or prepare a new one for us.
Trying to find this spot was part of the fun. It's definitely hidden where it's a hole in the wall cafe. You peer through and you see a dim litted room that has a very cosy atmosphere to it. I love the coffee here. Tried the Saigon Coffee where it's a hot version of the vietnamese iced coffee and it was very well made. Their McBagels are delicious and totally worth trying if you're a first-timer.
There’s something very endearing about this place, being ignored by tourists while simultaneously being in a tourist trap location. It is perhaps the tiniest coffee and bagel shop in town not known to Melburnians. And I don’t mind it staying that way.
Still a great place after all these years. A solid rock in a laneway which is losing its charm. Delicious bagels and coffee with a good scene.
Best little hidden cafe in Melbourne. Awesome bagels, fresh juice, coffee and friendly staff, especially the curly head guy who is always happy!
A great laneway discovery. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't vouch for the coffee but the bagels served daily here are a great treat. I've returned for one two days in a row. Staff are also really friendly. A good discovery.
Little hole in the wall local coffee stop serving the best coffee and bagels daily. Friendly staff. Definitely my go to for coffee in the Melbourne CBD.
Always great coffee and the McBagel is pretty tasty! My go to in the city for coffee. Love the menus in old children's books and the home style baking for sale out the front.
Tucked away on degraves st, little hidden bagel joint is one worth looking for.
Very small and busy, this place does coffee and bagels. Had the borek turkish beef and haloumi bagels, with cuban expresso. Bagels were delicious but quite small. Priced at ~11-12$ per bagel. Expresso tasted a little burnt and the sugar was not mixed well and just sat at the bottom; expected a smooth and slow mix prior to serving.
Overall does great bagels, may need more food for a decent feed; 3.5 Yums
Lovely staff, the juice is FANTASTIC, and who can say no to bagels?! Don't be put off by appearances, this place is the bomb.
For added charm them menus are pasted inside childhood story books!
Love this place! My partner and I have been coming here since we moved to Melbs two years ago! Vego bagel is delicious and the coffee is always great too! 😄 Best cafe in the little centre place/degraves laneway!
We hit the sweet spot just after 11am, squeezed into the tiny cafe and enjoyed breakfast. One staff member in particular was hospitable and experienced, music was mixed and fun. Breakfast was enjoyable and unhurried and coffee was decent.
We had the Dirty Ron, John West, Brooklyn and Parfait.
We usually avoid the tourist areas apart from walking through, but yesterday was a nice change from deciding which "new" cafe to try in Melbourne.
I love this place. The bagels rock. The coffee is great. I came three years ago, and I'm back now to check it out. It's as good as I remember it. Eggs, bagels, delicious sauce. Sesame seeds make the difference. Check out this little place if you're in the city.
This place lured us in with their range of bagels. Our water came in an old glass Coke bottle and I loved that the menus were all old children's books. The bagel was HUGE and piled high with filling - it was coming out of the hole in the top. Delicious haloumi, avo and rocket. Great coffee to go with it and ultra friendly staff.
Grabbed a dirty ron to go this morning. God it is delicious! Creamy tasty Mayo with chorizo and the perfect friend egg sandwiches between the two halves of a great bagel. Good coffee, freshly squeezed juice. What's there not to like?
Bagels bagels bagels!!!! Holy moly the gourmet bagels that I've had here are just delicious. My personal favorite the haloumi bagel comes tomato, avocado, rocket and the secret thing that ties this all together tzatziki! Additionally, the coffees from here are amongst the best in the CBD only a bit more expensive, but that's never stopped me!
Fun little place for breakfast. Really enjoyed our bagels & my chai. Not great if you're a big boned individual. Its very very tiny and cute so we sat our fat asses outside
Food is okay, coffee is great, and their cupcakes are to die for.
Really friendly service.
It is a small place, so it can get quite cramped when it's full.
Decor and ambience is nice.
Will need to come back for those chocolate mint cupcakes.
I could eat this everyday. The haloumi bagel is AMAZING. Thank you to the owner.. You are so friendly and made us feel so welcome. The history of this little bagel shop is just devine. Thank you for converting me to bagels- I didn't think I liked them much beforehand! Now I'm in love.
Haven't been here for the food yet, but the coffee here is great. Ill try some of the food and update this review when i do, but for now it's my go to coffee place in the cdb. The cozy atmosphere tucked into degraves is also a nice little perk up :)
Reuben bagel was so delicious! And the place feels like you're inside a little cupboard (in a nice way)
First off, I must say that this place is cozy. It’s possibly even smaller than Little Kings cafe and even on a fairly quiet morning will require a sideways shimmy to get to an empty spot in the corner. Once you’re seated though you do get some seating space to yourself.
I also had a latte, which was really, REALLY good. The perfect temperature, not much froth but v smooth consistency, good flavour but not bitter.
Beautiful coffee and food. I came across this hidden gem today, very impressed! I really enjoyed my avocado and Tabasco bagel with a poached egg, cooked to perfection! And my latte was just as good.
Really yummy coffee and fantastic, friendly staff. I go to Jungle Juice often for their bagels; messy to eat but delicious.
The space is very small but comfortable and I love the the use of recycled kids books for menus!
Delicious Bagels!. Great range of bagels starting from around $10. I had a John West bagel- 2 poached eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, capers, with rocket on an open bagel. $17.50 but very generous serving, could even get away with sharing it with a friend. Cute cosy little place, and friendly service. I saw them bringing out fresh muffins, yum! I would recommend.
The staff here are on par with the food - absolutely ace! I love the burger bagel, the haloumi bagel and the chilli con carne but everything else I've had has been great too. Would recommend this place to anyone local and visiting for a great feed, amazing coffee and a friendly chat with the hilarious staff. Special thanks to Kat for being babe!
This place rocks! Love their McBagel and Blat bagel sandwiches and fantastic coffee. Also, the menus are old golden books, which is pretty cool. Nice vibe!
Reliably tasty bagels and coffee. This little hole in the wall has been a CBD fixture for nearly 15 years and it's great. It's my go-to place when I'm at the Flinders St end of the city. My standard order used to be the ham, avocado and salad bagel (the Deluxe?) but they took it off the menu because it's too similar to the BRAT, so now I get the Vego bagel and it never fails to hit the spot. They also do delicious cupcakes with confectionery cooked into them, coffee styles from around the world (the Vietnamese coffee is a favourite) and fresh-squeezed juices.
What I like about Jungle Juice is that it's not a pretentious foodie den where you go for the cool factor. It's just what I want from a CBD cafe: reliably and consistently tasty food and good coffee, with friendly staff and interesting (but not overbearing) music choices. Phone and internet access can be a bit spotty, but that actually makes it a nice oasis for getting away from screens to sit and read, or get some writing done.
Best bagels!. Had breakfast here a few weeks back. Coffee is delicious, menu is huge with too many yummy choices. I went with a Royale bagel, portion size was huge and it was very tasty and fresh. Friendly staff and such a great atmosphere down this little lane way! If you can get a seat, park it at Jungle Juice!
Best!. Amazing Coffee! Highly recommended.
Warm and welcoming. No fuss all character little hideaway on busy Centre Place. Friendly, young staff with excellent (eclectic) taste in music! We just stopped for a hot cup of tea and it was perfect. A very Melbourne sort of experience :)
Delicious bagels, fast service and great coffee, I love visiting this place.
Two thumbs up. Always liked the atmosphere of this place, it never fails to impress.
Jungle juice is my favourite place in Melbourne for breakfast and coffee. The haloumi bagel is probably the best food ever made. Love Martin and all the staff. Pretty much come here every weekend.
Best bagel in town! Juice of the day is always great and coffee is awesome. What's not to like?!
Great place for coffee and bagel. Great food and great people. I shall definitely go back to this tiny shop again and again.
Yum. Delicious coffee and bagels, friendly staff and super cute place!
Wonderful little Cafe with an amazing style.
Staff are lovely and boss seems to really care about the business.
I over heated it was struggling a little bit so if anyone has the chance they should go in and support the local business, so it doesn't shut down. 5 stars!

This was the cutest little space selling bagels, coffee and freshly made juice. The service here was beautiful and the bagels were delicious and so cheap! The juice was made to order so it was lovely and fresh. My partner and I came here twice during our four day trip to Melbourne and will 100% be back!
Hands down the best bagels in Melbourne! Highly recommended, lovely staff good vibes and cozy spot. Need to try Humpty Dumpty an absolute favorite
Couldn’t believe that places this small exist and do well nor the review of best bagels in Melbourne……..until I went here and tried for myself. Service was excellent, bagels were delicious and I will be going back here to try more of their menu. I had a cheeseburger bagel and my colleague had the smoked salmon (boring?!?!), they were outstanding. The bagel itself was sturdy enough for the filling but not heavy to eat which I find ruins a lot of bagels, it was almost fluffy but full of flavour. Highly recommended for dine in or takeaway
Best Bagels in Melbourne! If your looking for a cute Melbourne cafe to have breakfast or lunch, I highly recommend going to Jungle Juice Bar! Really good coffee and chai! They do bon soy milk also! There staff are always friendly and welcoming! My go to favourite is the Mcbagel! Coffee is really nice too!
I've been travelling this beautiful country for three years now and this quaint little place would have to have one of the better coffees I've had in a very long time. Bagels were bloody good too! 👍
Best bagels in Melbourne.
Everything about the place from it's décor to music to staff is so lovingly authentic and unpretentious.
My favorite café in the city.
Wish I could give this place more stars because this has got to be the best bagels I've had in Melbourne so far. But it's not so much the food, but the jolly banter from all the employees, and the thoughtfully composed interior aesthetic that made it a truly memorable dining experience !!
Came here on a whim, drawn by the charisma of the owner and am already thinking about coming back with my friends :))
If you're in the area and looking for a bite this a spot that will hit the spot ;)
