Review Misuzu's - Melbourne

Yuxin D
Absolutely palatable sushi! Personally recommend the soft shell crab sushi and grilled eel sushi. Cool decor and excellent customer service. A bit pricey but worth the experience.

Misuzu's is probably my favourite ‘authentic’ Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. Food: Whether you’re an omnivore, pescatarian, vegetarian or vegan like myself these days, there are plenty of amazing dishes to choose from. All beautifully presented using only the freshest ingredients. Everything tastes amazing! Atmosphere: This modest-sized venue has a variety of indoor and outdoor seating. There’s small 2 and 4-seater tables, as well as configurations for larger groups with tables seating up to 10-12 people (but you would need to book this well in advance). The décor and lighting really make this place. The outdoor lanterns in the tree is iconic for Misuzu's. There is a genuine hustle and bustle during those peak dining times (especially on the weekends and evenings). But it all seems to work really well. You can find a quiet corner or choose to dine on the quieter side of the venue if you’re a couple, or right amongst the energy and buzz of the main dining space, if you’re a bigger group. Staff: The staff are a mixture of traditional Japanese and Australian. Regardless, everyone is genuinely friendly, helpful and professional. You’re sure to be attended to and served promptly. They’re quick to refill your glass of water, attend to any requests or enquiries and never too far away when your table needs clearing for the next course. The food, the atmosphere and the staff are just so enjoyable to experience. I cannot recommend this venue enough.

The interior design is very charming in asian style. The sushi are very fresh and looks delightful. I would recommand that place for every Japanese food lovers...

Just a superb japanese restaurant. This is a must do experience! Fresh, vibrant, beautiful food, beverages & service. This is the place for you & your loved one to come experience.

Awesome food and particularly very friendly warm service from the Asian guy with short undercut (who works in events) , cheers! Can't wait to come back again

Amazing food, service and atmosphere!

IMO this ain't authentic Japanese cuisine, not sure what previous reviewers experiences are with Japanese dining but you'd be very disappointed if you're expecting traditional flavours. First the positives; service is attentive, friendly and warm. Atmosphere is cosy and I get why long term local folk return to enjoy a drink & a meal. Its the equivalent of once being the only Asian restaurant in a small town, it's comfortable, warm and the classiest joint on the street. Sushi platter was just ok and the baked cheesy scallops were tasty enough. Spicy miso beef stir fry and eggplant tofu was close to food court fare. Maybe we didn't order the best on offer or its a take on flavours we just don't get. It must be a local institution for this long for a reason.

Another outstanding Japanese restaurant that has stood the test of time. This is obviously a result of their friendly, welcoming approach and the delicate flavours of their beautifully presented cuisine, which we too experienced during our visit.

Consistently great food and staff.

Delicious food and great service in an intimate setting.

Professional and friendly staffs. The interior is western and classy style. A bit pricey but sashimi and food is fresh. Will definitely return.

I absolutely love this place. One of the best Japanese restaurants around on this side of town. Nothing like sitting outside on a warm balmy night under the Japanese lanterns. <br/><br/>Service here is always friendly and warm but the food is a standout. It’s great for sharing plates. Tonight we had the edamame, chicken gyoza, agedashi prawn gyoza (my favourite) , almond prawns and veg spring rolls. Dessert was equally top notch with the green tea ice-cream and the lime rice pudding. <br/><br/>Highly recommend this place

Excellent service, great wine list & authentic food. The seafood (sushi/sashimi) was fresh and well prepared & presented. Unfortunately my partner doesn't like seafood but she found the tofu and lemongrass was superb. A very satisfying and enjoyable experience. Only small issue was that the green tea ice cream came with three scoops and was almost too much!
Tabi Ei
Great service, friendly staff. We had one of the staff order is whatever she liked and we were very happy with her choices. Very fresh. Everything was great , the only thing I would say it's really missing is a dessert menu, I have to have my dessert after a good meal.

Very poor  service and a very average meal at lunch today<br/>Everything was pretty bland and we waited for ages with no apology or explanation<br/>There was no interest in the feedback that I gave other than 'sorry'<br/>Very disappointing!

Amazing, flavoursome food and great atmosphere for a small restaurant. The staff were absolutely wonderful and we had a great time. The eggplant dengaku was awesome! We will be back.
The Pasta Master
I stopped by Misuzu's for a late lunch on a Thursday. The kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so I promptly ordered sushi. <br/><br/>There were a few other groups in the restaurant at the time, which, considering it was 2:00pm on a Thursday was quite surprising. The decor is laid back and casual Japanese, with dark wood and splashes of red in the interior with the odd paper lantern. <br/><br/>As for the meal itself, it was quite enjoyable. My favourite was the tuna sushi. I also had kingfish, tempura prawn and avocado sushi, which were all enjoyable. The only thing I could fault was that the tempura prawn came drizzled with some sweet chilli sauce which was too sweet and took away from the prawn. <br/><br/>Overall I had a very pleasant experience and would happily return for lunch or dinner anytime.
S
Went for lunch as it was busy when walking past and had very high expectations. <br/>The Nasudengaku was soggy, pea coroqeuttes floury and more like a falafel, and the Katsudon was overly salty and sweet and the rice flooded with this sauce which we couldn't finish.
Kirsty Haggerty
My partner and I ordered an amazing sashimi and sushi platter. It was presented beautifully and tasted so fresh! I also loved the ambiance of this restaurant - we sat upstairs and it was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place.

Misuzu's decor is just a tad overt and gaudy for my personal taste. It doesn't really reflect the food or mood at all. The curtained entrance is especially weird. The staff were friendly although they did forget one drink and then charged us twice since we asked about it. This was quickly rectified though. The blue swimmer crab roll was delicious. The (small) sushi set was quite inventive and didn't feel boring considering there wasn't a good variety of seafood. The salmon salad and seafood dumplings were okay (though dumplings they were not, more like spring rolls). The agedashi tofu was not smooth and not crispy on the outside and was a disappointing dish. The pea croquettes had an unpleasant floury and grainy texture with a weird spice taste that didn't suit it well. We had the wagyu beef and tempura rockling specials for mains. The wagyu beef dish was average (beef was well cooked and that's about it), but the rockling tempura (with vegetable tempura too) was really excellent. The batter was wonderful and the rockling was just delicious. Overall some hits and misses, making it a decent Japanese restaurant but it doesn't stand out from the crowd.

My friend and I went to Misuzu's a couple of weeks ago.Really outstanding restaurant with glorious decor and an enchanted bamboo backyard to boot. The food was fantastic. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.Really worth going to for special occasions or if you want to treat yourself to brilliant Japanese food and the experience of being there...9/10

When i went it was quiet, wasn't sure why but now i know. Food was overpriced for the portions that were given. I would've understood if the food was amazing but it was just plain average. Not saying the food was bad but it didn't meet my expectations

Delicious Japanese food in Albert Park. Great variety in the menu. Entrees, mains and sushi/ sashimi items or platters. Highly recommend BBQ salmon belly sushi, the scallop sushi, the rhubarb crumble dessert. Also enjoyed the barramundi with lemongrass main. Would visit again.

I went in Wednesday night and had a great dinner with a friend who loves food as much as me! We shared wine, seafood dumplings, miso eggplant, teriakyaki salmon and veg and pork belly in orange sauce. All really yum! Then we had creme brûlée 👌🏻win! This was my first visit to Misuzus in a long time. So glad it's still great :-)

Have been to this place many times and thought it was about time I gave it a review. If you're after tasty Japanese, this would have to be one of the best in Australia. I've tried most things on the menu now and never been disappointed. It's on the pricey side if you eat in, but you can always get takeaway which is significantly cheaper and the quality is still fantastic. Large servings too.
Big Al
Quick and easy Japanese with tasty and commercial food menu, authentic Japanese beers and great service. Try the tempura veg, very accommodating with special requests too. Book early for best seats.

Epic Japanese take away. My go to for a semi healthy meal when I'm out of motivation to Cook. Options vary regularly so I'd advise you check it out and see what works for you.
Lex Xiao
Great looking place, Nice and cozy upstairs. The service was 10/10 couldn't ask for a more authentic Japanese service. The food was absolutely delicious, had a really good soft shelled crab and orange sauce pork belly. Bit pricey but definitely worth the experience.
Sam
Tried Misuzu's for the first time last night. So fantastic! Every dish was delicious. Dengaku was the best I've ever had and the main courses was beautiful, inventive and mixed new flavours with traditional. Perhaps a bit pricey, but worth it ofr a special occasion. Will be back!

Misuzu's is without a doubt an Albert Park institution. Known for its signature lanterns dressing up the trees just metres from its doors, Misuzu's has been serving up Japanese cuisine to its patrons for years. Whilst we didn't have a booking, Misuzu's still managed to squeeze us in on a Friday night in the upstairs room (which, unfortunately, lacks some of the warmth and vibe the downstairs counterpart has to offer).
L.power
The food here is fantastic. Simply the best Japanese food I've had. The staff are incredibly hospitable and knowledgeable. Great wine selection and very reasonably priced, this is a hidden gem of South Melbourne!
Heidi
Last night we went to misuzu's, I'm not generally a loved of Japanese food but I thoroughly enjoyed my soft shell crab dish, it was a generous portion for only $18, my only criticism would be that I wished it came with more salad. My bf loves the teriyaki chicken here, and has had it a million times so it must b good!

Went to Misuzu's on the weekend and entered in via their "Umami' section. The service at Misuzu's and the timing of meals, was a highlight of the restaurant.  Nicely paced and staff was attentive.  However the seats and settings were pretty uncomfortable for a 'nice night out.'  The spacing was too tight and I found myself squeezing in between customers.  The scallop entrée was a nice treat, but other than that, the rest of the meal was pretty standard for a boutique Japanese restaurant.  Though I didn't pay mind blowing pricing, it was on the premium side, and so for value for money and comfort, it fails on this front in comparison to other Restaurants of this style. In saying this, Misuzu's has been part of the Melbourne dining scene for as long as I can remember, and it wouldn't be still here if it did anything wrong.  It's just the Japanese experience has moved forward.

Overpriced and terrible food. My partner and I went on a Saturday night and the menu was quite limited. Too much mayo, too much oil. Will not be returning

Such a great restaurant! Really my favourite! Not cheap, but genuine Japanese food both traditional and contemporary. Been there countless times for my birthday, everything on the menu is great!

A very popular place in Albert Park but I can't say i am keen on their restaurant food, a bit too much mayo and too oily for my liking. Not authentic but suits the Australian palate. I did enjoy the bar though with their selection of small dishes and sake.

Very reasonably priced. Love the decor. Food tastes amazing and fresh. Highly recommend.<br/>......................................................................................

By far my favourite restaurant in Melbourne! <br/>I have been going to Misuzu's in Albert Park for over 10 years & still love the food. <br/>Takeaway section is so fresh & yummy!  <br/>Favourite salads:<br/>- Tuna, sweet corn & noodle salad <br/>- Calamari salad<br/>- Sweet potato & green bean salad <br/>Also try the tuna croquettes & the Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) with both sauces on it - Kewpie Mayonnaise & a Japanese BBQ style sauce. <br/><br/>Eating in has a beautiful ambience and the staff are lovely. I love to eat upstairs. There are three dining sections at Misuzu's Japanese Restaurant. <br/>Favourite meal to have in the restaurant is the beef Katsu - Crumbed beef fillet with a fresh garden salad and a Kewpie Mayo style sauce drizzled on top.

Still brilliant after all these years. Food is fresh with amazing flavours, service is simple so you can enjoy your meal and the company you are dinning with and the lighting is low and relaxing. Our favourite eatery.
Spoonstyle
A very cozy establishment and we were seated at the bar. I could see different slices of fish and seafood in front of me and I was pampered with the choices I had. Service was fast and friendly which is always a good thing when dining out. I ordered the iso-abe calamari with the crabmeat sushi as entrees and they were delicious. The seaweed batter coating the calamari were cooked just right. The mains were the moriwase sashimi and sushi platter as well as the oven baked scallops and fish. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would come back again soon!

This is probably my favourite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. We schlep to port Melbourne from box hill south and it's just so worth it. We love sitting up at the bar.
DAMMIT JANET I LOVE FOOD
The food was good, but not good enough to justify the prices. Service was ordinary and the red lighting that bathed the dining area reminded me of being in a darkroom.

On a cold, grey Saturday afternoon Misuzu’s is like a warm, welcome hug! Cozy, intimate and smelling divine we curl up at our table and order lots of nibbly things to share with a lovely glass of local Riesling. Service is friendly and fast and our stunning chicken yakatori is in front of us before we know it, a perfect example of how chicken thigh can be seriously sexy! Cooked perfectly and burnished with soy and spices it was a brilliant stick of yumminess!

I eat here ALOT! (I'm sure that's meant to be two words!)<br/>It's almost perfect in atmosphere and food quality. For a while they had mental waiting staff but they seem to have got on top of this and the last few times I've been there they have been exceptional!<br/>Well done guys this is one of Melbourne's best!
Andy
I have been here a few times years ago and liked it but now days not my thing.<br/>Like many of the restaurants in this area, it is well over priced. Trick it up all you want but the basic production costs are still the same so I don't see where you get off exploiting consumers. <br/>The menu is in so way shape of form flexible. The staff are arrogant and somewhat rude in response to any alterations. Watch out if you just want to drink tea, the attitude will hit you if you don't order alcohol for lunch.<br/>My family walked out before we even ordered because of the arrogance and unwillingness to negotiate any part of the menu when we asked for some prawn rolls or something similar for my 7 year old daughter.<br/>Expect to spend 40-50 a head for Sunday lunch and to be treated like a peasant. I know I don't.<br/>

Cute little Japanese restaurant.<br/>We went to the right hand side of the restaurant which was the contemporary/fusion Japanese side.<br/>The food was good, loved the prawn tempura, creme brûlée & lime rice pudding very good!<br/>Great service also.<br/>Would go back there again and try the traditional side next time to see how it is.<br/>4.5/5 stars

Fine option in Albert Park. The menu is well thought out. The food is beautifully presented. The service is attentive but not intrusive. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices abound, and the food is just terrific. I would happily return for more.

...Yes I will probably try to come back at Misuzu’s and for sure i will get a good miso soup, but rather than get the Sushi plate ill try something different.<br/>Not disable friendly restaurant.<br/>You can pay with Credit Card, Eftpos.<br/>Possibility of Take away.<br/>Possibility of booking in advance

So next time you take yourself off for a swim at a southside beach, follow our lead and check out Misuzu's for a quick and healthy take home vegan meal or if you're not in a rush to return home, their restaurant is worth checking out too.<br/>

The menu at Misuzu's is actually quite large and you are spoiled for choice. Between the dishes from the izakaya, sushi and sashimi that is available from the small glass bar and the comprehensive sake and wine menu, I can understand why this place is popular.
Foodwithfrank
Delicious dinner with the lovely ladies at Misuzu’s! A restaurant with 3 doorways… One end is meant to be lighter and less expensive. Izakaya style – a drinking place first with food to accompany. The other end is a more formal japanese restaurant. And in the middle it’s take-away for the lucky Albert Park locals.

Mizusu's is a wonderful little Japanese cafe nestled in the heart of the gorgeous South Melbourne. It's both a restaurant and a take away shop with yummy Japanese tapas. I've visited it a few times and each time I can't go past the mixed vegetable stirfry with tofu and cashew nuts with sweet chilli sauce. I complete the meal with a serve of their delicious biodynamic brown rice and a green tea. Perfect! Albert Park, it's a gorgeous hot and humid Summer evening and there is a table in the window at Misuzu's with my name on it! Perfect night for a graze through their amazing Japanese menu I am beside myself with excitement at the thought of gyoza and crispy Kingfish neck! First up - chicken dumplings, perfectly thin wrappers around juicy, succulent chicken and spices. And then…. oh mouth watering ahoy… the prawn gyoza, crispy balls of the most amazing prawn, served on the safely of their wooden spoon so that you can plunge them into the sweet and spicy sauce in the bowl below - cleverly retaining the crunchy yumminess whilst allowing a good coating of the sauce.................
Theguiltystomach
something especially authentic about the food, whether it is the way the soft flavourful prawn and calamari dumplings come in a wonderfully subtle mushroom broth
Eat.Play.Shop.
The staff chooses a selection of tapas style goodies including 3 salads for you so it's a bit of a surprise what you'll get on the day. The selections are mainly based on meatballs, fishcakes, and different types of california roll type morsels.

Misuzu's Umami's cuisine was incredibly delicious that was delivered through their pleasant and extremely fast and efficient service.

Dog owners' insensitivity. I love Misuzu's. Over the past five years, everything I've tasted on the menu is delicious. I was delighted to get a table at short notice, it was outside but being such a lovely evening, we didn't mind. Whilst there were people with well behaved dogs, what spoiled the evening was that two people brought their dogs, one yappy one that whined and carried on for ten minutes while its owner was ordering take away, and the one at the next table that lunged out barking ferociously at every passing dog. I'm a dog lover (adorer actually), but I wouldn't take a dog than can't sit quietly anywhere until I'd trained it to do so. I called Misuzu's to discuss this, but understand that the restaurant isn't responsible for the poor behaviour of dogs, the owners are. Dog owners please take note!

Amazing Food, Amazing Service - Thank you. What an wonderful night! I took my partner here last night and I couldn't be more appreciative! We dined in their sushi and sake bar, Umami - Izakaya Dining. Thank Misuzu's for an amazing date night! The service was attentive, pleasant and very friendly (and comical!!!). The food was absolutely delicious - chefs selection of sushi and sashimi was fresh and a perfect start! Before I booked I read all the comments on here and can honestly say I was not disappointed and am grateful I didn't let these negative comments affect the wonderful experience my partner and I had! Thank you again Misuzu's for a wonderful evening... We will be back!

So disappointed. Were seated upstairs in a room with no atmosphere, shown an menu which was so expensive for what it was..this was the longest our group of 7 has ever taken to order dinner. We were so underwhelmed with their choices. In the end we all ordered 2 entrees each...so overprice and nothing you could not better for 1/4 of the price and the service left a lot to be desired.. We will not be coming back....
Amy
Don't understand the appeal. Nothing unique about the expensive menu. Bad value and customer service is average. $50 for a platter for 2 people as "mains" leaves a lot to be disired.
Luke
Great Food. I grab takeaway here fairly often, the food is always very good, the staff are always nice but they could improve the ordering / pickup procedure.
Anthony.sm3
Crap sushi. Ordered $57 for 2 items take away. The sushi roll is severely loose, and wrapped with "Dump" ingredient like carrot, cucumber. IT IS NOT WORTH $34.<br/><br/>and paid $23 for the Susimi Don, just got 5 pieces of terrible slices.<br/><br/>NEVER COME BACK! RATHER GO TO SUSHI SUSHI and just cost maybe $20 bucks and could buy 2 tickets with my girl.

Albert Park Clasic. One of my all time favourites. Consistently good. Great for a relaxed lunch outside - winter or summer.

Rude Rude Rude!!!!!!!. Have eaten here many times as it is local and convenient. Service has always been unfriendly and rude at times. The food quality is quite good and the only reason we have returned in the past. It's not cheap and needs to address the rude culture that seems to breed in this place. Would have to be really short on options to put up with this rude place again.
Damo
Too expensive for pretty average Japanese.
Jo Thio
Disappointed. After waiting too long to place an order, the food was mediocre and over priced for what was on offer. First and last time. If you want quality Japanese cuisine at a fare price go to Chiba in moonee ponds!

Dined here mid week and it was much busier than I anticipated. The food was beautifully presented as always and delicious. There has been some comments about rude staff however I found the waiter to be really friendly and attentive. Fantastic place for date, cosy, romantic and not too loud. I will return!

Like it a lot!. I have eaten here 3 times over the past 12 months and it is always very good service, quality and vibe... Recommend

Can't recommend as it was a mixed metaphor. Six of us dined, four had been before. The entrees, brocolini, gyzoa and sushi were all very yummy. The mains mostly disappointed. My seafood laksa was pretty good, the rest were I impressive. Diners on there second outing said previous visits were sensational. The service was excellent.

Attitude problem. As another reviewer said the 'Manager' seems to be quite rude and I believe has a poor attitude to customer complaints. When I rang about a service issue my wife experienced the man I spoke to who said he was the manager (sounded very young) became very defensive and I couldn't get a word in edgeways as he lectured me about restaurant 'policy'. I simply explained why we would not be dining there again but he seemed to more worried about telling me why I was wrong. Perhaps the owners can leave a comment here if they feel this is one sided as I would like to hear from them. Apparently they are in Japan for a month and a half according to this guy.<br/><br/>I like the food but hey there are plenty of other great Japanese restaurants in Melbourne.<br/><br/>Regards, S.

Highly recommend. I had a good night with a few girlfriends. The food was beautiful and I highly recommend the soft shell crab with chilli. The staff was very friendly and easy going.

Average. The service was incredibly slow and in attentive. Very difficult to get waiters attention, they kept taking the wine bottle away but failed to return when our glasses were empty. Food was ok, but un-remarkable.

AMAZING. My first time here at Misuzu's and I cannot wait to go back. Its a gorgeous setting, very romantic. I wouldn't say the food is truely authentic japanese but it doesnt matter because it all tastes incredible. We had the Sesame covered salmon, the seafood dumplings and the sashimi and sushi and all were super yum.
Joanna
Big love to their food
J
Old faithful and reliable for a super nice Japanese lunch. I prefer the lunch menu over the dinner menu, it is also better value - the salmon teriyaki and udon soup is very tasty. Service staff are lovely but the manager is often not very accommodating for larger table requests.

Food alway fab - service sucked for the first time. We love dinning at Misuzu's and have for years - the food is consistently good, we enjoy the atmosphere and usually the service is good and we always tip well - except for last Saturday evening the service was appalling - one of the waitresses was quite unfriendly - rude - I had to get their attention for service - food was good as always - but we didn't tip for the first time as a result of bad service.
Grace Patrick
Love this place. Fresh fresh seafood and very tasty.
Gordon Oakley
Enjoyed a sensational dinner. Service was outstanding, with a great warm sake to start. Tina tataki, soft shell crabs and tempura sea perch were delicious. Barramundi main and a baked salmon and scallops a highlight

Quite pricey. Quick trip to JPN<br/>I wasn't really keen to try Jap food and my partner is a big fan so to make our relationship work (LOL), I agreed on a two week holiday to Japan! And from then on my life changed. I LOVED IT!!! All i did was to eat! Jap food there knocked me off my feet esp the restos in Kyoto! So when we went back to Melbourne, I was keen to try a resto that would take me back to Japan. Nobu didn't quite achieved it, until I tried Shira Nui. It was really like a trip back to Japan. The food and service was great. We tried and oh my god - every dish just exploded in my mouth. And ofcourse after that, we went back again! Highly recommended. TIP: Quite pricey.

Great Chef, Horrific Service. Cant imagine anyone enjoying the experience with waiters walking around with their heads and eyes down, I had to almost trip them up and shout across the room to get their attention , <br/>all night. Couldnt believe it, then I mentioned Id like some better attention, nothing but attitude. <br/>I had advised at booking of my wifes birthday , and we were looking forward to a great night, nothing special happened, unusual for an asian restaurant, <br/>The staff were busy drinking behind the bar and looking at each other , HORRIFIC,<br/>I had money to spend and only spent half. <br/>I had to complain to the manager who was the youngest, eek! and did not accept anything for free from him.<br/>When the Chef leaves id like to know where he goes. It wont be long.

Disappointed and snobbed of by the staff and manager. Living in the neighbourhood and having had a number of nice dinners and lunches there, I have been recently been very disappinted and snobbed of by the same personel. Misuzus is not cheap and the interior nothing Special but the Food, especially dinner was always convincing. Today ordered a Sushi Sashimi platter as a main course I found 50% on the plate was either omelette, Avocado or other vegetarian and not particularly fresh Sushi. Having made a polite Statement to waiter and then Manager that I was disappointed and expected better and had much better there both just said: "this is Sushi - it is not always fish, if I wanted only fish I have to tell them in advance and they Charge extra - on top of the 39 AU$). They snobbed me off accusing me basically not knowing what I was talking about and "maybe you had a bad day at the Office". Outrageous and wrong: I am travelling 800.000 Km ́s a year and have Sushi 4 times a week and have not been treated like that anymore nor having been that disappointed in a ususally a promising Location. It seems Business in Australia/South melbourne is spoiling the Restaurants too much. I will not go back nor recommend anybody to visit Misuzu ́s Melbourne.

Friendly staff who are happy to suggest and recommend if you aren't sure or want a sample. Beautiful sake and beverage range!

Treat yourself. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced for such high quality Japanese food. There's also a great selection of sake which is either difficult or impossible to get elsewhere, and the bar staff are knowledgable enough to tell you more about it if you ask.

Best Japanese in Albert Park. Misuzu's you always deliver..... good food!

Love Love Love the Pork Gyoza. This is my favourite local dinner places in Albert part. stand out dishes are the pork gyoza, edamame, veggie laksa(big enough to share) and rubharb crumble for dessert. This is a must try!!

Sewerage smell. We were seated in a corner and there was a wafting, intermittent smell of sewerage. We asked if we could be moved to another table - of which there were many - and were told that this wasn't possible but that they would burn some incense. We persevered, the food was actually excellent which we ate in between strong wafts of toilet smells. I was also hit in the head by the waiter's elbow twice - we were in a bad spot and there was no attempt by staff to accommodate us. Will not be back.
Rockabetty
So amazing. Delicious food, great service, adorable decor. A little pricey but worth it! Good for dates and special occasions.

Classic japanese. About as good as you can expect outside japan. Lovely food, staff a little stiff and could do with a dose of relax. However always polite, what more can you ask?

Over priced rude staff...if i took a bottle of soy sauce some cashews and vegies i could have easily made any dish off the menue. the sushi is not impressive.

Will never go back.. I was recommended to come to this place by a friend and I have also had take-away from Misuzu's before when I used to work a few shops down. So I decided to take my daughter and visting parents there after a bike ride along the beach front and made it our destination for lunch. As there were no bike racks, we chained our bikes to a pole and sat down on one of tables outside. The waiter eventually came outside and was stressed about the bike trailer sticking out over an imaginary line between the end of their shop and the neighbours fence and wanted us to move it so the neighbour didn't get upset. Thinking that was strange, we still decided to order some sushi. We then waited about 45mins for it to come out and was severely disappointed with the portion size of the sushi and the prices of the main meals. I ended up giving all my sushi to my 2 year old daughter as she was very hungry and I wasn't willing to wait for the next lot of sushi to come out. The service was bad and we didn't feel welcome at all. We left hungry and I will never recommend this place again to anyone as the experience I had was horrible.

Yummy Dumplings and Gyozo's!. I visited Misuzu's on a Sunday for lunch, it was busy, so I would recommend booking. Was a sunny day so sat outside and watched the Ferrari's drive by. Was quickly attended to by a waitress and the service was good from thereon. A girlfriend and I shared some finger food, salads and hot entrees. We got 6 items which was more than enough. Every item we got was delicious, my favourite being the Crab Meat and Prawn Dumplings. The kitchen closed at about 3, but they allowed us to sit and have drinks for a couple more hours, which was nice.

Good food, good mood in a small restaurant, was happy with the level of service, only downfall being that some (not all) items on the menu felt a little pricey, would go again

Yummy dinner last night. Baked scallops were divine.

Satisfactory Japanese Restaurant. Positives: Beautiful interior and warm service.<br/>Presentation of food is impressive.<br/>Good range of authentic Japanese dishes on the menu.<br/>Sashimi was fresh, made right in front of us and enjoyable.<br/>Could recommend the Crab meat and prawn dumplings to start and the Teriyaki Lemongrass Chicken for a main.<br/><br/>Negatives: Not cheap.<br/>Some mains a little small for what you pay.<br/>The takeaway menu was less exciting than the restaurant menu.<br/>Some of the takeaway dishes like the satay tofu were bland.<br/>Prawns still had veins in them.<br/><br/>I recommend to dine in at at Misuzu's as the experience was pleasant for us, takeaway a little disappointing.

One of Melbourne's best Japanese. Been four times now over a two month period and give this a high rating for consistently good quality Japanese food presented in quaintly appointed decor. There are two choices of venues here...the tapas/bar area on the left and the more formal restaurant on the right with a Japanese deli in between. Menus are slightly different. Dedicated, professional staff on the floor and in the kitchen really makes this a truly pleasant place to enjoy top-class Japanese food.

I'm posting this in the hope management listens! As a local, having Misuzu's so close and so reliably good has been great, but something's changed...<br/>Luke-warm food may be forgiven on occasion, but when my friend asks for more soya sauce and is told "no, you have enough"???! HOW embarrassing!!!<br/>It's almost impossible to get someone's attention to add to your order, or ask for wine glasses to be topped up... But the icing on the cake? Being told your bottle was finished (they aren't left on the table) when you know plainly that only three glasses had been poured.<br/>Please please lift your game misuzu's!! Loyalty will only last you so long with so many other options close by!!

As a local we are so happy to have Misuzu's but last night was disappointing.<br/>Miso soup was luke warm. Tempura King George whiting was soft and oily and far over priced. Salmon far over cooked. We had hardly anything. Drinks, only three glasses of pinot gris and yet it cost $180 for 4 persons. Too much for a mid week bite with friends. Food used to be fantastic but I agree with others who say the food has never been as good since the fire. Staff are a bit slack. Like picking up your near empty wine glass then putting it back without any sorry are you finished. Cant get anyones attention to add to your order or get the bill. Plates coming out before the sashimi platter. Sashimi platter is much less generous than it used to be. No freshly cooked tempura prawns like there used to be, now only cold from the take away bar. Staff have to come back later and tell you Barrimundi is not available tonight. Don't go on a cold winters night the curtain around the front door stops the heater above from warming the room. I think Misuzu has taken her eye off the ball here. These comments keep coming but no one listens. We want the old Misuzu's back.

A favorite for 10 years , I miss the massive sushi platters for $10 mark

Really Worthwhile. Let me start by saying I rarely like Japanese food, but the food at Misuzu's is outstanding and really hits the spot. The service is also great but also a little aloof at the same time.

Not coming back.. Well, the title says it all.<br/>Ordered sesame chicken, tuna croquette, unagi sushi, miso beef, pork yakibuta.<br/>The only decent food was the unagi sushi.
