Review Flora Indian Restaurant - Melbourne

We ordered the Samosa for takeaway, which comes with chutney and sauces. It was authentic, big in size, and had the right amount of spices. Not the chilli kind. Unfortunately, the place is so hidden behind the constructions opposite Flinders Station. Still, they are definitely worth visiting for authentic Indian food & snacks. It's cheap, and they make fresh Chai. It's our favourite spot for Indian food in the city.

An institution that has been there for decades and survived covid and blocked entrance during the metro construction. Great for north indian food but not south indian food. The north indian food is fresh, reasonable priced and varied. I like that they always provide free water. Upholding the Indian culture

My favourite Indian restaurant in Melbourne. Fresh, delicious naan, fast efficient and friendly customer service. BIG serve (for a big guy) and amazing price. Recommended to anyone in the CBD! A+++

The food is nice but the combo deals are all packed into one container for take away. Even after requesting to pay extra for containers the manager refused to separately pack the 4 dishes that are included in the combo.

Dosa combo - Sambar and chutney were the worst every made in the history. Everything else was average.

Ordered Samosa and Masala dosa. Both were pretty bland in my opinion. They had forgotten to add salt and both the dishes were pretty flavourless. It used to be good before and I’m a regular customer but today was quite disappointing to the extent that I don’t want to go there again. Either they changed their chef or are cutting costs. Either ways I don’t recommend this place now!

Had Masala dosa + Egg Dosa + Masala tea. Avg: score 5/5 service, quality of food. Must try place. Unfortunately, the place is so hidden behind the constructions opposite Flinders Station. Still, they are definitely worth visiting for authentic Indian food & snacks. Not very expensive and they make fresh Chai.

The food is only marginally passable and way too expensive. The quality too has significantly dropped since it's opening. My star-rating is 1.0000195. Not worth going at all. Hari Krishna cafe (Level 1, 123 Swanston Street, Melbourne) serves lunch for a very reasonable price ($ 7.00, with discounts to students and seniors: $5.50) is just five minutes away from Flora Indian restaurant. It IS THE place to go for a nice meal (with free second and third serves). Go to Hare Krishna for a king's meal and not for a begger's at Flora. I am dissapointed that I went to Flora for a meal. I Will NEVER go to Flora AGAIN. ! :( :( :(

Flora is about convenience. Don't expect the world's best freshly cooked everything on demand. But if you are a fan, and I must confess I certainly am, there are speciality dishes which are both fresh and world class. In my case, Flora delivers a freshly cooked meal and a take away for later before I begin night shift The curries are quite satisfying for the takeaway, but the magic is in the fresh cooking. The Dosa meal is all you need to order during the week, and the Chhole bhatura is the best dish available on the weekend. I am just an ignorant Aussie, but after a week in India, I did not feel that I had tasted anything much better. I hope others share my opinion that Flora is a good value place to drop in for a quick Indian meal.

I have been visiting this restaurant since 2011,and until Saturday, 8 July 2017 around 3.15 pm I was happy with the service and food (consider the price I pay). On this Saturday, the girl/lady who took the order from counter, asked the menu choice, and delivered the food, it was like she was selling a railway ticket, rush, not looking at me, and almost serving like she just want to get rid of customer. I never felt so unwelcome and disrespectful. She either was tired or unhappy with the shift or not had a good training to stand in this counter.

The place is nice, I ordered dosa and otthappam and both were horrible.. Accomplishment chutney and sambar(kind of Rasam I should say) were very bad.. I will never visit this place again..

Delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. They even have Dosas. Very reasonably priced. Great staff.

The place stinks. Serves the most pathetic Indian food I ever had. Visited Melbourne to see my sister and who took me here for a supposed feast. We ordered chicken biryani and tikka. The biryani tasted worst than the worst I ever had ( infact din taste even biryani) the chicken used in both was smelly and I think stale. We wanted to order some idlis too. So we went up again for it and while at it we complained about the poor quality of food. The cashier out of nowhere offered us not to pay for idlis which we had never though. BBut wen d idlis arrived, the cashier somehow consulted d chef who said no complaints have been made so far and everything is OK. So at the time of handing over idlis the cashier asks how would u like to pay. Sudden change of heart. Now we never wanted free stuff but if u insist atfirst and den ask again later for something it just shows ur fickle mind and character. In a nutshell, bad experience. They are making fool of the ppl who really dun know how Indian food tastes and missing out n an opportunity to present the real taste of India. Yes u can tweak dishes for the local population but not with an excuse that you completely change the soul of d food. Strongly recommend to not visit. Ambience is also poor with toilets stinking.

Had a paper masala dosa.... yesterday - Worst paper masala i have ever seen and tasted. The waitress said it was crispy - i would say it was rather burnt and destroyed.

Not a nice way to present the customer service as an Indian restaurant. This is not how we Indians welcome our guests. Speacially the girl on the order counter.

Discovered delicious Flora Restaurant in 2003 during a vacation from Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Was still excellent when I visited February 2013 (and went back the next day). Great, friendly staff too.
