Seems like a lot of good stuff on the menu and really happy with what we got. Even though the place was pretty busy our meals came out so quick. Big portion sizes for the price and complimentary tea with table service, really good experience. Their fried chicken was amazing, I would go back just for it.

This place has quite the loyal following and is mostly packed out.
I didn't see what the fuss is all about, but having only tried the BBQ Pork Omelette, I can only comment on that dish.
The speed and service were nearly instantaneous, from paying, to getting a dish in front of me.
It's huge portions, but mainly bulked up with a bed of white rice. The BBQ Pork lacked the flavour of Hawker Chan's and the dominant taste was made up of the salty, corn/potato starch glaze, applied on top.
There's so much good food along this strip and I felt like I'd made the wrong choice for trying something new.

Brings back so much memories during uni days! It’s cheap, good portion and not bad!! One of my fave is the spicy cumin beef on rice and of course, spicy chicken ribs! It may not be the best for some but best enough for me!😋👍🏼

the ultimate culinary institution that brings back years of fond memories for many, especially those that came as international students.
years of ordering off the Top 10 list (which has never changed) and years of taking away culinary deliciousness.
it may not be the best in terms of taste, but in terms of portion size, price point, convenience and memory, this is the #1 for me.
my usual go to order:
duck and preserved veg fried rice, roast pork egg chiffon on rice, and a serve of salt and pepper chicken ribs (sans rice so you get more chicken ribs). sometimes if I'm really hungry or in the mood for vegetables, I get the green bean mince pork on rice.
epic.

Great place to eat Malaysian and Chinese food. In my visit I got spicy chicken ribs with rice. Overall, the taste was good and the portion was very generous. However, the broccoli I got was cooked but it was cold which was odd. But besides that I would recommend this place and I’ll come back here soon.

We got the famous egg and bbq pork on rice. It was really good, really big portion for the price we paid. There is usually a long queue at the front so make sure you get in early. The restaurant does not have a lot of space, but the good food made it up. Would highly recommend for a weeknight dinner!

Cheap, cheerful and tasty. Had the duck and crispy skin pork over rice and it was delish. Very quick delivery and your no frills, straight forward Asian bbq eatery right in the city.
Recommended All the roast meats or their top 10 dishes which is great quantity and value for money.

📝: Cheap eats post for today…the classic, Melbourne’s one and only 🌹 Rose Garden! An all time favorite for people of all ages and background. The service is SUUUUUPER fast. You barely have to wait before the food reaches your table 🤣.
❤️: Absolutely love everything here! You have to make sure you get there before their roast meats sell out. Be it BBQ pork, pork belly, soya chicken, or roasted duck, they will not disappoint! I love the sauce they give on the side so much, and you can ask for more with a small charge if you love it too!

Lovely place to dine for Chinese. I have been many times and the food is outstanding. At the moment we are forced to get takeaway but as soon as lock down is over, I am here! RG BBQ will be one of my first stops come freedom.

What it lacks in looks, Rose Garden makes it all up in dishing out quality and delicious food. Big call but Rose Garden is one of the most consistent and reliable place for an amazing and affordable meal. Generous portion sizes, great value for money and most importantly, each dish is a flavour bomb.

The Salt & Pepper Chicken Ribs is my go to here. Tender pieces of chicken ribs, coated in an intensely savoury crispy batter and sprinkled with chilli flakes. One bite and you’ll be hooked.

Fan of roast meats? The selection here is stunning. Roast pork, BBQ pork, roast duck, soya chicken – they all are hanging by the window, glistening with flavour and beckoning you to come and taste them. Each as succulent as the last, and for something a bit fancier than your typical roast meat with rice, choose the omelette version whereby the roast meat of your choice is wrapped in silky soft omelette.

The rest of the dishes are just as amazing – try the Mapo Tofu or the Green Beans with Minced Pork. In fact, just try anything and/or everything. You won’t be disappointed.

No frills just simple and amazing food in the heart of the CBD. This place is a favourite to many and needs no introduction.

They are always busy regardless which day it is. The spicy green beans with minced chicken on rice and the chicken ribs on rice are always a favourite here

#BMAfavourites || Open for almost 20 years, Rose Garden BBQ has been one of my favourite hot spots in the city since my uni days. Serving up their signature green beans and mince pork to my favourite crispy skin pork omelette on rice with their special gravy 🤤. It’s a rite of passage to go here as a Melbournian! #uglydelicious

A no frills spot for a quick meal, this is not the place to linger when you're done chewing. A substantial menu with a variety of choices, it's reminiscent of the cheap eats throughout South East Asia. Expect generous portions, wholesome ingredients, decent meals. Food arrived impossibly fast but nothing to fault. Finished dishes were promptly whisked away so we felt rushed as hordes more enter as we left.

Decent menu and would probs go back for more

I had the roast pork and bbq pork on noodles instead of rice. The dish came out of the microwave and noodles were not freshly cooked, roast pork lacked flavour and did not come with any sauce. Although the chilli oil was a highlight. Overall a bit of a let down after seeing so many good reviews but perhaps was just my dish.
Monka
I love their chicken ribs. The service is standart but at least it’s average rather than some places in Melb that have minus customer service. Good food, fast and cheap! 👍🏻

Super authentic Hong Kong eatery. Great meats and fast meals, just don't come in expecting great service (or not having to wait in a line if you come during peak)

Recommended by my friends for several times and finally got a chance to try!ordered rose chicken and not bad!little bit oily but the tea is great so it reached a balance. Friendly service. We went there at 13:30 approximate and it is not crowded. We got a five people seats outside and we love the atmosphere!like traveling and forgot stress ahaha. The service is good too!Do recommend it for everyone.

Absolutely love this place! It's always jam packed and busy, but the dishes are quick and fulfilling with an okay price!
I always come here for a quick bite!

I went to this place looking at great reviews and honestly I was a little disappointed.
The food was average and the customer service was not at all up to the mark.
They don’t treat their customers well especially during busy time.
The food and tea was cold and not up to the mark.
Hope, they can improve on that.

Don't think any students would not know about this place. I dare to say that this is one the best cheap eats restaurant in Melbourne! I always come back for their spicy fried chicken on rice. Very addictive. Speedy service! Highly recommended.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Love this place for a quick meal. No frills, in and out, not much service but a simple crispy pork rice or bbq pork rice would satisfy your lunch cravings!

Very yummy and filling. My regular place to go during uni break back then and still got it haha.
Wintice
There was a line when we arrived.we wanted to try the omelette rice and it was good, but not great. Portion isn't as generous as the reviews make it out to be. I had spicy chicken rice and was rather disappointed. It wasn't spicy enough and not aromatic enough. The rice tasted funny with the sauce they used.

Overall it was ok, but not deserving of the lines in my opinion. Price wasn't bargain or anything.

My score 3.25 stars. J got takeaway from here for dinner on Tue 21st May.

This is an updated review from our visit 8 months ago. Not as good value as it used to be and some dishes a bit of a let down - quality can be a little variable too. Been getting takeaway from here for over a decade. After trying much of the vego section, we have had the same 2 always > Spicy green beans and bean curd*/Eggplant and bean curd*. BC is yum and the soft eggplant is a good contrast to the spicy al denté green beans. Occasionally we also get Mushroom and bean sprouts with egg noodles. BTW we cook our own rice at home for these dishes*, as I'm not keen on reheating rice (if possible) that's travelled for any length of time unrefrigerated. For about $2 extra, RG will replace the rice with a larger serve of your TA dish...

This visit we got two nights worth of food and had the 3 standards which were a bit oily and a bit “samey” – Spicy beans still the best though. The noodle dish had too many noodles and not enough filling. As a naughty meaty treat we also got Crispy pork (for me) – it was fatty, bonesy and the crackling not crisp (very dissappointed). We felt a bit queasy afterwards – I think because of the oiliness! We have dropped our score from 4* to 3.25* and probably will skip RG in the future – too much good cheap food in Melb (and RG will still thrive, so no guilt)…

Rose Garden BBQ is such an iconic Melbourne eatery with the restaurant experience something for itself. For some diners this is the routine discount dining, for others you feel like you’re thrusted into some secret dining society. (And then ushered back outside quickly). I took my parents and we loved the experience; can’t ask for more for any less. Fast Chinese food with crazy portions.

If you’re down for classic Hong Kong food, this is the place to be, great portion size and it taste like home. Very quick service and it will definitely fix your cravings for Asian food.

If you need a quick lunch/dinner, this is the place to be. I came here since I was a uni student, and the food quality and flavour have been very consistent. Nothing to brag about and nothing to complain about. The price is very fair and reasonable.

还是学生的时候就来玫瑰苑吃,便宜大碗味道也不差。
有的时候点完单,刚坐下就上菜了,速度是真的可以!

Came her for lunch on a Saturday. The place was busy and quite full, but since I was just one person..I was able to share a table. I tried the pork omelette rice which was tasty and filling, since it's quite a generous portion. Food was quick to be served too. Reasonably priced dishes which is probably why it attracts many students.

It's kinda ironic, despite having bbq as part of its name, this restaurant's top dishes list is dominated by their non bbq dishes. But worry not, their top dishes are indeed very good. On the latest visit, we had their string beans and salted chicken ribs. They were full of flavour and they even put sauce on the steam rice. It wasn't as busy as before, we were able to get seated without waiting. But maybe it's just because we were just lucky. Anywho .. thumbs up from me.

A lovely quick & fast typical Asian restaurant, like the ones you would find in an alleyway in HK, food is amazing, very authentic, tastes like home cooked. ROAST DUCK IS ON POINT!!
Noble Foodie
Tried here once quite awhile ago. Their roasted BBQ duck, roasted pork, char siew and chicken are all very tasty and cooked to perfection. Sitting space not that spacious and so normally I would just ordered take away for one whole duck and some roasted pork. Their duck is meaty and full of flavours, the roasted pork skin is crispy and well marinated with just the right taste. My family loves the food here.
Windy
Always come back for their crispy pork. Very tasty.
Their roast duck is one of the best in town. Very pack and limited number of seatings. Servings are quick though.

Excellent as ever. Love the spicy chicken ribs and crispy pork belly with omelette. Although the price has been climbing up quiet quickly over the last 2 years, I still grab my dinner from there a lot. There will be long line most of the time but the food always comes out quite quickly!

Somewhat hidden among the many Asian restaurants on this stretch of Elizabeth street, Rose Garden isn’t much of a looker, but damn do they dish out a good meal. Got myself the BBQ pork substituted with fried rice - so generous and flavourful. Oh and extra points for the complimentary pot of tea!
ABC3147
It's all there in the top 10. Shredded duck fried rice that's good fatty coating and punctuated by the slightly pickled cabbage. Crispy pork belly omelette on rice where the mixed egg has been just missed by the heat ensuring it remains pillowy soft and doused with the quintessential canto brown gravy. Utterly delicious and indulgent. I'd eat the whole plate in my youth, but now... 3/4 is plenty. Yes I've gone soft. To be balanced, the value has diminished over the years... But who cares? Not me.
Josh_hajis
An excellent menu with great flavours and value.
I've been coming to Rose Garden for a number of years now and I still enjoy my visits. The portion size is great for my big appetite and it is very well priced. The dishes are simple and flavoursome. I'd highly recommend this for a casual dinner option.
GreatFood77
Always packed, try and get the before the lunch peak because the Crispy Pork Omelette is amazing. Nice oyster/soy sauce coated with eggs and crispy pork. It's not the healthiest thing in the world but it tastes great!
If you pay cash you pay it directly to the people when they take your order but if you want to pay by card, if you're sitting outside, you have to go inside the restaurant to the counter and pay before getting your food.

Fast food restaurant is a truly category for this to fit in. Everything is quick and attentive. The ten best seller is something that that will be coming back for. On the other hand, it’s always crowded, congested.
Michi
Old school quick and easy chinese eatery. Service is super efficient and food is delicious too. Definitely my go to place for comfort food or when I crave for msg loaded chinese food.

Needless to say much, this restaurant should on your ‘must-try list’. Here got various cuisine wiz rice, not only Guangdong style, but also spicy things. The price is widely acceptable, no more than 14AUD usually. Back in the days, I arrived in Mel, here gave me a very good first impression.

This is the most puzzling and funny experience ever.
(I ordered Fried Rice with Shredded Duck and Preserved Vegetables 梅菜火鸭丝肉饭)

It was lunch time when I pass by the front door of this restaurant, seeing a long queue waiting and ordering, the restaurant seems to have a great business. Maybe this restaurant serves really good food, I thought, so I went in.

How should I describe my experience? Disappointed, that’s the best word. I was expecting too much. What annoys me the most is its expensive price ($14.5) that is no where close to meeting its taste.

With my experience and knowledge, I can assure you that an average price for this dish you would find in an average restaurant is around $10.

If you want to cook this dish (which is EXTREMELY easy) from the ingredients you bought from the market, the cost is at a maximum of $6.

And if you are a restaurant, the real cost is probably only $4.

This taste is so familiar to me. It’s the flavour of my own cooking when I ran out of food at home. This is the first time I have ever had something that tastes like my own style. And I assure you, it’s not great, it doesn’t need much preparation (I cook this only because I’m too lazy to prepare fancy dishes), and this restaurant, like me, stuff up a lot in the cooking.

Probably because they are having too many customers there, the egg is burnt, and there are bones in the dish. The rice, like my own style, is soft and sticky because it was not cooled down when they put it in the wok.

I just know how to cook it the moment I ate it. Interestingly all ingredients are usually found in the fridge and interestingly I use them a lot as well.

Here is what you need:
The night before, get a Chinese BBQ duck, you ate as much as possible but didn’ finish it, you saved the box and the soup and left it in the fridge.

The second day: you noticed that you ran out of food. No worries! there is left over rice in the steamer (left overs are the best for fried rice because the rice becomes harder and tougher)

Then what to do it easy, dump all duck and soup into the wok, heat it up with rice, put an egg in it and cook it together(or you can cook the egg first) — you realise you don’t have enough veggies, that’s not healthy — get a couple of frozen peas from the freezer, put in packaged 榨菜 (cheap! Like a tuna can) while its soup drips into the wok, chop some cabbage, get soaked 梅干菜 (common dried veggie), put in a little salt and monosodium glutamate. Done.

The whole process, would take only 10 minutes to do it at home, cuz you are just mixing up random things together while heating them on wok.

It’s as easy as making a sandwich, not even skillful as making pancakes!

I can’t believe its price and its quality. I had a look around and most other dishes looked expensive as well. I could have a better lunch just by eating at Uni.

Ordered the Singaporean fried noodles which were absolutely delicious. The portion was filling and generous. The service was fast- I waited for only 5 minutes. Meals are cheap and of good quality. The restaurant is quite small but I will definitely return to try other meals.

Favourite chinese place. Has a very OG vibe to it. I have NOT found a dish I don't like here. Everything is absolutely delicious. There is a top ten popular items, just pick any of them, you won't be dissapointed. Although, service is not great here, but it almost doesn't matter when their food is so addicting.

I want to rate this place a 2.5. I have been here a few times, is so so to me - everything is fairly average, not amazing, typical Chinese type food you can get almost anywhere. On this particular occasion the omelette was extremely gluggy, I couldn’t enjoy it. Very fast service.

Dubbed one of the best Chinese Roast in Melbourne by many food reviews, I expect Rose Garden to be really great, I was disappointed. It did however brings me back to my university days where everything is tailored to students, big portion, low price, great combination for students. Arrived in after lunch hours around 3-4pm was not too hectic. Great and quick service was an added point. The food is served almost instantaneous after order. The rose oil roast chicken was bland but the roast duck and crispy pork was acceptable. Chicken chop was fried first therefore the pepper salt could only stay on the batter instead of marinated with the meat. Overall a great spot for affordable and fast food for students and lunch time goers.

I was invited by another foodie friend, since it's already 1pm and I was really hungry... I did agree to come. And that was one of the best and tasty quick lunch i ever had in the city. The place was packed but it was a quick turnaround. The food is just unbelievably good. I will be happy to have it everyday. Any of thier top ten dish is just not reasonably priced but also delicious.
Crabapples For Lunch
This unassuming little shop is very popular amongst the Asian crowd. The food here is generous and tasty - if you're a small eater you can easily ration a box into 2 meals since they really pack it to the brim.

We really like their duck fried rice with preserved vegetables, as well as their crispy pork belly with omelette on rice, both on their top 10 menu (if you're new to this place, picking one of the top 10 to order is a safe bet). The duck fried rice is so tasty with a good amount of shredded duck in there. With the pork belly omelette, you may still get a crispy skin if dining in, but the skin will most likely not be crispy if doing takeaway because of the sauce in there. Speaking of the sauce, it does taste pretty good when you're dining in but it does seem to be made up of a lot of oil. Try not to think about it too much while eating (perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned it).

There's a decent amount of seating both indoors and outdoors, but it's also always crowded so you may still have to wait for a seat. In terms of service, it is a good day if you don't get yelled at by one of the older ladies there. Don't expect much of their service, and if that bothers you consider just doing takeaway or getting someone you don't like to do it for you.

Prices are more expensive than before. At $12-$14.50, the meals are no longer cheap but they're still somewhat reasonable. As far as I know, they still only accept cash, at least I still didn't notice an EFTPOS machine when I dropped in today.

A good place for some good takeaway Chinese food.

Came here for a quick bite on a normal weekday. This restaurant is aware of their value proposition - cheap and good asian rice dishes (with free Chinese tea!) they only accept cash only, and I must say it’s amazing how efficient they are. I ordered one of their top 10s - crispy pork and omelette with rice and it arrived in 2 mins. Unfortunately, the food is not as hot as I wish it could be, making it less delicious.
Kevin Lim
Awful customer service. Force me to order fast when I was still deciding. Waited 25 mins till i can get a seat. Kicked me out of the restaurant as soon as im done eating, not allowing me to talk with my friends first. Awful place.
Life=Food
Cam here for a quick lunch with colleagues.

This place is a very well known store that do very good roast dishes.

Ordering wasn't a problem but finding a seat was a problem. They are always super busy.

The rice was too dry. Beside from the rice, everything was perfect.

Definitely come back again.
Linda
Pros: one of the best spicy chicken ribs! Crisp to perfection and seasoned well. Don't usually like eating greens but the stir fried greens here, cannot get enough of! The chicken with the greens I had was actually chicken pieces and not minced meat. Egg noodles with crispy pork was also flavoursome.

Cons: Would have preferred the crispy pork being added after the gravy sauce on the egg noodles. It was drenched in sauce and lost its crispiness (perhaps ask for pork on the side?). Service was so so (but maybe that's when you know it's a good asian food joint haha).

Came to order takeaway couple days ago, order a fried rice and salt and pepper chicken, when I pay the bill, the lady said : CASH ONLY, that’s fine, nowadays not much restaurant still doing this, but I still run to the atm get cash out, anyway, the most important part was, when I’m leaving, she actually has the eftpos machine , and she was changing the paper roll..... seriously? U sure is a right way to treat customer ?
Sweetchen
The food was cheap and average

Just be careful when you pay the bill.

I ordered two omelette rice tonight. One omelette with pork and one omelette with chicken. When I would like to pay the bill, the waitress told me it was 26 dollars immediately. In fact, the omelette with chicken was 12 and the omelette with roasted pork was 13. The overall price should be 25 dollars. Then, I just told the waitress she made the wrong price to me and she just responded she didn’t see the menu.

Therefore, be careful when you pay the bill to the waitress . Make sure they charge you the correct price and give you the cash accurately.

The service was really quick for my dish, like 3 minutes after ordering. I think because this dish is popular here. Huge portion but i had dinner quite late that night so i still can finish it. The food was okay.

Nice roast meat and chicken ribs on rice. Quick service but quite crowded during peak hours! Not sure about 1.5$ for small fried eggs on top though.

Incredible Chinese food... the menu is solid, it’s always super busy so you know the food is fresh. My fav is crispy chicken rice. I’ve sat in here with 60% of the customers all having this dish lol

Ah the good old Rose Garden BBQ, it got me through many hungry nights during uni. I had a chance the other day to go back there again, and was compelled to write a review. As most already know, this place is known for its quick service and affordable dishes, as well as the authentic cheap eat Chinese restaurant experience.

I remember this place used to have dishes around $8-9 price point back in the days, and it seemed quite dirty and run down. However I was pleasantly surprised that they did some renovations since then, and prices still stayed low, albeit around $11-12 now, as expected from inflation. Be warned though, the dishes there are tasty, but can be full of salt or MSG. I ordered the deluxe version of fried rice with shredded duck, in combination with BBQ pork/crispy pork and omelette on top, it was a monstrosity but I loved it, as it had all my favourite meats and brought back all the memories from uni days (but it did cost over $20). The food was brought to us in literally 2 mins, so the speedy service part did not change either. It was a struggle to finish though as there was a lot to eat, which reminded me that I no longer have the same appetite as I did when I was in early twenties.

Glad to see Rose Garden still thriving and offering the same cheap eats for people today, with refurbished interior and the same good taste.

Food: 4
Service: 3
Ambiance: 3
Price: 5

Love the food! I ordered the Crispy Pork Skin Omelette, and I’d definitely recommend that! ❤️ In terms of the ambience, the place was quite crowded, but nonetheless, the orders came out pretty fast. Unfortunately, they DONT TAKE CARD PAYMENTS! Better take note of that peeps! Love xx

3.5
Why can’t zomato bring back the half star ratings...
This place is in and out service
Packed with Asians so you know it’s good
Huge portions for the price so good value for money
The pork omelette with rice is very popular and delicious
The Sichuan is less punchy than others if you compare to Sichuan house for example.
Mxw29
Not bad but the dishes can be a little too oily. It was quite busy but we got seats reasonably quickly considering the queue. Nice place to dine but I would stick to the favourites menu.
Jae
Average food (had crispy skin pork omelette on rice - the pork was way too salty and not crispy with omelette and gravy that were too plain), large portion size, intimidating customer service, definitely can get a better meal with that price especially on Elizabeth st.
Julian B Ho
Rose Garden is the epitome of the cheap & cheery Chinese restaurant. I just want to call it out that sub $10 meals are a rarity nowadays. That said the average cost of a meal here is around $12.50 and the serving sizes are extremely generous. They do have a pretty extensive menu but based on general observation, most people order from the top 10 or the BBQ roast. When it gets busy, shared tables are pretty common. Food comes out pretty fast and once you're done, your plates are cleared almost instantly. One of the most efficient eat-in eateries I've been to.
Flying Forward
Points for: quick service, great value

Rose Garden almost has a cult following with those in the know. I always walked past the lines at the door, feeling a little bit intimidated by the whole process of seating and ordering.
Nevertheless, after years of avoiding it, I finally came in for an early weekday dinner.
It’s crammed with tables inside and already quite busy, so we were seated next to the till, with those ordering take away squishing past us.
Having never been before, I needed time to digest the menu, however the staff are so used to diners knowing what to order, they asked us 3 times within 2 minutes.
• Roast pork omelette – pieces of crispy roast pork folded into a fluffy omelette, sitting on top of a mountain of rice and a gravy. The pork tasted a little dry and slightly old, and the skin wasn’t really crispy anymore. Still, it was pretty tasty with the slightly soft omelette.
• Spicy green beans with minced chicken on rice – A Chinese favourite, the beans were well cooked with a slight bite still and the chicken had good flavour. Balances well with the white rice.
It’s a hectic experience, where you feel like you’re back in the mad rush of Hong Kong.
Also excellent value, I can see why it’s a local favourite.

A no-nonsense cheap Chinese food restaurant well known for their roast meat dishes especially crispy pork and roast duck on rice.

Drop by with basic service expectations, don’t forget to bring cash and enjoy your meal which comes out quickly - if you manage to do all that, you wouldn’t mind this place as a quick lunch option!

This is always my go to place for the classic chinese bbq pork and crispy pork in the CBD. They also have a very yummy duck fried rice and egg ommelette on rice dish. Another thing that’s also great in there is their combination on rice where you get all different kind of meat stir fried with some veggies. Their homemade chilli oil is also amazing. The place is always packed with people (mostly students) but you can always get a table if you wait a bit.

This place is always super packed! Almost everytime I come by there's a line outside 😵 but worth the wait because the food never disappoints, ordered the special fried kueh teow, roast pork omelette with rice and a serve of the crispy chicken ribs 😍 everything was delicious and service was great as expected~

Deep fried chicken with crushed spicy chilli some third rated rice and with a drop of some weird duck sauce.

No Ambiance and quantity of required ingredients.. Beware..

RIP OFF for some cheap rubbish. WASTED 13 dollars.

Recommended place for spendthrifts and unhygienic cheap food lovers-RUBBISH

Delicious and great food with cheap price. U wont be able to find such a yummy place with cheap price in CBD, esp roasted duck. Everything is great except the place is too small.

We went to Rose Garden BBQ for lunch and oh my, what a generous portion and great value! This place is so packed as well with everyone enjoying their big meals.

2.5
Came here based on the good reviews. Must say, I was a little disappointed. Roast duck and roast pork are always tasty, but this was far from superior to any other CBD venues. Wouldn’t rush back!

I’ve have been coming to this place for awhile now and have tried a couple of their top dishes. The taste is superb and they have large servings. Its definitely worth the money.

If you are a fan of duck though, I dont recommend getting it from this place. Here is my experience:

The first time I had duck on rice at this place, it was the best and I was thinking this would be my new go-to place everytime I crave for duck. The second time I came, it didnt taste the same. The skin wasn’t crispy, the spices werent distributed equally as if it was made hurriedly. It was busy that time though so I just let it slip. Third time I came, It was around 3pm, it wasnt fully packed so I was expecting that my duck on rice would be better but still the same. Most of the skin wasnt crispy, the spices uneven distributed. It was good but i cant compare it it to the first duck on rice I got from this place and I just cant get over it.

This experience wont stop me from dining here but this has stopped me from ordering duck on rice from this place.

Oh, I would also like to commend their staff. Unlike most busy asian restaurants, they have friendly staff that remembers their customers and usual meal!

Overall, yes I highly recommend this place for asian cuisine especially their top 10 dishes. Their serving size and tasteful dishes wont dissapoint you!

With the duck issue, I would have given this place a 4 star but because they only accept cash and I have to take cash out everytime I come which is inconvenient it losses one star.

Placed an order via phone, the waitress who answers phones was very impatient and rude, I told her the first dish I want to order, and she just replied “ok bye bye” and then hang up before I could order more.

Food was tasty and service quite prompt. I would only suggest their waiters treat customers better to improve the overall experience at this little restaurant.

Longstanding Chinese restaurant in CBD perfect for your Chinese food fix.
Rose Garden is always busy and with good reason. Don’t be surprised if you have to wait or share a table. Service is your standard no frills service of a Chinese restaurant. The menu is diverse and wide ranging. Can’t go wrong with the self proclaimed top 10 dishes on the menu. Spicy chicken ribs with rice, Mince meat with Chinese vegetable, shredded duck fried rice and Pork Egg Omelette are the stand outs.

We were on a lookout for good meat serving places and this popped up in Zomato with really good reviews. It was very close to work and me n mr decided to have a quick midweek lunch here. The place is easy to miss if u r looking for signboards, but look for the crowd and this can be spotted from a mile away! A tiny cramped place with roasted ducks and chicken hanging on the glass window, seriously no frills place. Had to wait a bit to get seated and there is no typical Melbourne warm welcomes or niceties. The waitresses mean business, they run around yelling juggling place full of drool worthy dishes over your head. You can see into the kitchen and i like that about a restaurant. They are confident there’s nothing to hide. We ordered the crispy pork omelette rice from top ten menu and roast duck with rice. Tea is served to everyone. The roast duck was good though not great. But my non Chinese fan Mr loved the crispy pork so much that we are sure to be back despite the noise crowd and non smiling waitress. Just the right place to eat some delicious food if that's all you expect.
AmBer Chow
The most popular Chinese BBQ restaurant in CBD. If you expecting high quality service, maybe not here, but most of the people once sit down already know what they want. So service is fast , not too long for waiting and big portion of food. Look at the price and what you get is really reasonable in nowadays.
