I have been a regular here for years. My favorite CBD cafe. Coffee is always good and staff are great. Outside seating area is good. Never had bad service even when the place is very busy. Toasted sandwiches are outstanding.
The food was amazing the coffee exceptional and the staff were so friendly. And had a go on the pokies on the short wait. A++++. Highly recommend.
It was a lovely brekkie the smoked salmon was so fresh definitely recommend you to our friends Thankyou for a great experience 👍
In need of a quick coffee, Soul Cafe was open nice and early, and is conveniently located in the city. Used to the early morning rush, the staff coped with my takeaway order fine.
The coffee itself was pretty good and the barista was quite pleasant. I haven't tried the food menu, but they had a decent display of pastries, cookies and cake; and next time I will be sure to try one of those.

Breakfast time and this was my choice for the day. The menu displayed outside helped as I walked with my head spinning on which place to dine at. I really wanted something simple so ordered the 'build your own eggs' component and had two poached eggs on sourdough. Simple and tasty. However, next time I'll order the buttermilk pancakes. Saw someone being served this after I placed my order. Looked great. $12 is reasonable. Coffee wasn't bad either. The atmosphere inside was okay. Wanted to take a photo but felt a little self-conscious when I took my phone out to snap a pic and looked at oddly by patrons. Oh well. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram/stroller accessible.
These guys have a delicious looking menu and the staff are really lovely. I had the fancy toast, which was a little pricey for just one slice of toast but delicious. The eggs benedict and avo smash that my friends had both looked delicious and much better value
Went to the city for NYE and ran into this place as I walked past. The seating area attracted me and hence I had to try their hot chocolate.
We ordered a HC, a Cap and a Apple Crumble muffin.
The guy who served me expected me to carry the muffin and table number which I declined as I wanted to eat it with my HC. Wasn't impressed by this.
When the drinks came out, they brought out 2 HC and a CAP. They made a mistake. The barrista rectified the mistake with fuss or extra charge- he was excellent (Tony).
The HC was delicious but could have been hotter. The muffin was fresh. The Cap tasted like real coffee.
Improvement- table service.
Value for money- reasonable
A PIECE OF CAKE :)
I'd done a lot of walking today as usual and so decided to reward myself with a rare treat - nice slice of cake. Since I've already had a hot chocolate and a Chai latte I figured I'd go the slightly healthier option and have a nice peppermint tea to go with it. I opted for the honeycomb and caramel cake.
The staff were really nice and helpful, I took a number and sat outside to enjoy the fresh air. When my cake came it looked divinely decadent and I wasted no time digging in to it. It was at turns both rich, sweet, spongy, creamy and very very tasty indeed. Scores very highly with me and I'd recommend it to others for sure. :)
The waitress recommended me to try their big breakfast and I was definitely not disappointed! Their mushroom was sooo juicy and delicious definitely one of the best I've tasted. Portion was really huge too I shared one plate with a friend and we left pretty full.
Decent coffee and really nice chai! Would love to see some more vegan options with a name like Soul Cafe! Good location and vibes, connected to the Mercure hotel.
Every Friday I come and would like to thank you for Tony wonderful service, his care to make sure every customer is kept happy is not a easy Thing. Thank you.
However guys a coating of paint on the floor and walls would make you feel that the place is care for, as your staff have made a difference, great work Tony .
Am surprised at the negative reviews. The food and coffee was fast. Corn Fritters were amazing and tasty. Coffee was perfect temperature. I say give it another go.
Great breakfast spot attached to our hotel (Grand Mercure). Asked and got 1 poached egg on toast as I don't like a huge brekky. No worries at all. Fast service, good coffee.
Swanston street is one of the busiest streets in central Melbourne and is dotted with cafes and alfresco dining areas so that everyone can sit, relax and soak up the atmosphere.
One of the more upmarket eateries is the Soul Café, just north of one of the best shopping spots in the city, the Bourke street Mall.
With both indoor and alfresco dining you can enjoy the delectable light menu for lunch, brunch or dinner, or treat yourself between shopping to one of the special sweet treats on offer.
Soul Café belongs to the Grand Mercure complex so the décor, menu and service is five star but the prices are great, and really affordable if you want to treat yourself here each time you're in the city. SUPERB coffee. delicious and I tend to swap between the two when I drop in for lunch.
Pretty good wine list as well means it's quite easy to dine, wine and wile a sunny afternoon away under the black umbrella's as I watch the hum and buzz that exists along this exuberant city strip.
We are thankful to have found this cafe serving early breakfast on a Sunday when everywhere else is closed or open much later. Nice coffee and hot chocolate served with marshmallow by friendly service staff. Very rare these days to see happy service staff, not grumpy or rude. Only cons was we walked out smelling like greasy fried bacons, perhaps look at good exhaust fans. We will be back, keep up the good work and continue to serve with your big smile!
A quick bite eatery with nicely loaded bacon and egg sandwiches. Good Coffey and generous milkshakes.
One of the best coffees ive ever had in my life
