My husband and I come to have a meal at least once a week. Their Bak Kut Teh is pretty special, so much flavor and for $10.50 is super cheap. Their laksas are so good too and their chicken rice is actually legit, the rice itself is so tasty and that's how you judge how good a restaurant's chicken rice is, by eating the rice on its own. Their Ban Mien is awesome and their mee pok ain't bad too, overall this place is my fav restaurant, generous servings, each dish averaging $10 a meal, you could eat like a king and still have chump change. (I'm Singaporean too so that's saying a lot hahaha)

Yummiliciously the best Laksa I've ever had. Simple settings but great food. The menu is vast with a LOT of choice however thier Laksa is to die for. Go have a bite, I'm sure you won't be disappointed and keep going back again and again!

I was recently introduced to laksa and have now become a little obsessed, it is actually my favorite thing to eat since moving to Melbourne. Of all the places I have been to, Laksa House is by far the best. I get the vegetarian laksa and it is SO GOOD! I would probably eat it every day if I could. And the best parts are that the portion size is huge and it is super cheap. The service is great, everyone is really friendly, the food is absolutely amazing, the only complaint I have is that they get so busy on a regular basis that it can be hard to find a seat if you want to eat in, but I guess that speaks for itself 😊

Highly recommend ! There was a queue as you can't book . If you go to Melbourne you can't avoid this place . Different kind of authentic Malaysian foods and drinks . Great service and delicious food . Very good and very reasonable priced.

Funky little place, buzzing with people at lunchtime. I ordered 2 laksa to take away for my daughter and I. Would've loved to have eaten in, but my daughter wasn't up to it. For around $20 we had enough for 4 very, very decent serves. The eggplant was a delicious surprise.

📝: Are you also a big fan of Malaysian food? Finally got to try Malaysian Laksa House after walking by so many times. So fast and convenient, just perfect for takeaway.

❤️: Loved the seasoned rice from the Hainanese Chicken Rice—so fragrant and flavorful. Also enjoyed the warm Laksa with chicken and shrimp, just a perfect warmer on a cold day.

Malaysian Laksa House will satisfy all your cravings for Malaysian food and more! Featuring an extensive menu that showcases the best of Malaysian cuisine, you’ll find dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and more. I was a bit hesitant to try them due to the recent bad reviews, but I was blown away by my meal.

The aforementioned dishes definitely did not disappoint. The fragrant coconut rice of the Nasi Lemak mixed with the fiery sambal and savoury fried anchovies, and paired with the tender and flavour Nyonya Chicken is a match made in heaven. The Laksa broth is rich and creamy, beautifully seasoned and filled with juicy prawns. The Hainanese Chicken is just as balanced in flavour, and the chicken was cooked to perfection.

I’m now itching to go back and work my way through the menu. What a lovely find in the CBD!

Went here for a weekend dinner with the brother.
We ordered the Laksa House Special and a side of the BBQ Pork. The laksa was flavourful with a good amount of heat and spices. Well-portioned. The pork was a bit of a let down - cold, dry and strangely sweeter than expected.
Service was efficient - our laksa was prepared in about 5 mins. Little staff interaction - order and pay at the counter and find your own seats. Casual ambience with limited indoor seating. Reasonable prices.
Overall, a good option for a quick laksa without the frills.

Great authentic flavours of Malaysia here. The laksa is definitely popular and must try. Don’t like the seating and tables as it can be quite packed and small but well worth a quick laksa fix!

I never had Malaysian food before, my friend suggested the try laksa once, so I visited this place last weekend. Oh my god....the food was soo good.

Veggie Laksa was LIT. The taste was so yum 😋, I've also ordered several items including coconut water, egg noodles and few side dishes.

Perfect place to have good quality food. Highly recommend from my side.

Thumbs up 🙌👍

J’s score 3.75 stars. J had a solo lunch here on Thu 11th of July. Staff efficient, friendly. Place was bustling – self serve water. Order at counter (although hard to walk through tables to get to the counter). Very cramped, but ok once sitting.

She had a basic Nasi Lemak “snack” ($8.90) - Peanuts, Ikan bilis (seperate from Sambal, so a lovely crunch), Pickled cabbage in a nice coconut curry sauce. Lots of Sambal onion - spicy, oily, nice. Fried egg on top of nice soft coconut rice - nice change from boiled egg (cooked well, oozy yolk, but crisp white).

Warm spicy comfort food – will return (with me in tow)…

Cheap and delicious eats! The portion is big for the price you pay. It is always busy during lunch and dinner time. The only thing I wish they could improve on is their customer service. Other than that, I always go there for a quick meal.

No-fuss Malay eatery.

It's almost always crowded so it can be a bit cramped and some near the door can be a bit uncomfortable due to the wind but if you sit inside it's fine.
We order from the counter and will be given a number. The food came out quick though the staffs aren't the friendlest.

I've been here a lot of times.

Basic bak kut teh was just warm and herbally, with tofu puffs, bit of mushrooms, lettuce, pork belly, pork ribs and pork balls, came with a generous bed of rice.

Thai green curry was great. It's not too spicy, probably not the most authentic but good enough for me, it's on the creamier side and had a good balance of sweet and salty, beef was tender and quite generous, with other vegs in there.

Both seafood claypot noodle and pork claypot noodle was pretty good. I went for vermicelli on the first and mixed for the second and they were good texture both times. Soup was a bit salty the last time i had it though, but aside from that a prettt good dish.

Hainanese chicken rice was pretty basic but good, the meat was tender and has bit of a flavor, topped with the minced ginger which i enjoyed, the chilli sauce was similar to what you get in malaysia/Singapore too! The rice was a bit too salty though in my opinion and not gingery which it was supposed to be. Fortunately there were some sliced cucumbers om the side to cope with the saltiness.

I also had their bbq pork recently and i had to say it was surprisingly yum. The sauce was really good, the meat was marinated and oh so tender, with the ends having that caramelization and crispy.

Overall, a great budget place for some Malaysian food.

( follow for more!✨)

xx,joelle.

Serprisingly, I prefer their Hainanese chicken over rice rather than the other Chinese place in town. It's just right for me. The soy sauce and ginger, and their egg. You must order it beside laksa.

Came here last night and had the vegetarian Curry Laksa , was soo yummy. The broth was nice and rich, the variety of vegetables was great and the puffed tofu soaked up the broth well. The Laksa came with two types of noodles, however I do prefer the thicker noodle over a thinner noodle in my Laksa. Big fan overall though, will come back sometime soon!

The taro fish balls are nice here.
But my favorite is the classic pork noodles in clay pot. It is steaming hot from the time you got it till the time you finish! OMG the pork broth is so good I find myself just drinking off it!

Theres a poached eggs as well as minced pork, sliced pork, spinach and pork balls. Those pork balls are the bomb. It has bits of Chinese mushroom in it and it very tasty.

When they are really busy, you have to share tables with others - which is probably every lunch and dinner time lol.

Service was good and the food was okay. Sambal was not spicy enough and sweeter in my opinion, which is more Singaporean style rather than Malaysian.

Having laksa on a cold winters day is always a good idea..and since I haven't tried this place that has been on my list for quite a while, I thought why not!? My friend and I both had the laksa and also tried the in house made soya bean drink. Reasonable priced dishes and tasty. It does get quite busy on the weekends.

have been coming to this place (and coconut house) for years.Love the roast chicken and char siew rice as it's very similar to what I used to eat in KL. That lime chilli sauce is so genuine. Hot pot classic pork noodles rock too with their yee mee. Only let down is the bak kut teh which is by no stretch of the imagination up to standard

Is this it? Have I found the holy grail for laksa in the CBD? I ordered their house special laksa and was pleasantly surprised with what was served up.

The laksa broth had multiple fascinating dimensions to it and it brought me back to the laksa of my childhood. It was mildly spicy, creamy with sweet and savoury undertones. The noodles were well cooked. There was a generous amount of fried tofu, prawns and melt in your mouth eggplant. The sambal was authentic.

Coupled with the sticky floors and mysterious bits of items floating around in the bottle of drinking water, the whole experience was just like being back in Malaysia!

Don’t be fooled by the peeling menus and low prices, Malaysian Laksa House delivers some flavourful laksa (as well as many other Malaysian dishes) in a low fuss manner. You don’t need to spend that much to get your Asian-food fix in the CBD of Melbourne. Laksa of the draw. I headed along to Malaysian Laksa House on Elizabeth Street on the recommendation of a friend. I haven’t been back in Melbourne too long so I am more than happy to be guided by someone else. It’s an inconspicuous location, nestled amongst the other (what I call) student-ish Asian-ish eating options of the city grid.

I came there for Friday lunch and it was not so busy. I ordered the Hainanese chicken and it is nice. The chicken texture is soft and juicy. I like the eggs on top of the chicken which may help balancing the taste from chicken and rice. I will come back here for trying more dishes one day.

Love the Curry Laksa's here.. it is a bit spicy (w/o extra chillies), which I love about it and full of flavors.

Interestingly, you can order a few extras with the standard Laksa.. like Laksa soup for $1 & Tofu puffs for $1.5 - which is absolutely worth it if you like a bit more of the good things.

Like the Teh Tarik (Malaysian Tea) too here..

Service is fast and ambiance is nice and cozy..

Located along Elizabeth street, this little restaurant served up pretty decent laksas.. The nasi lemak on the other hand wasn’t that great.. Price wise it was reasonable and given its a self service restaurant there isn’t much to comment about the service.. Probably would come back for its laksa and given the big portions it is probably a good idea to share too..

Chicken, tofu, veggies, etc everything is well cooked and the curry is delicious :)

Would definitely recommend this place for newbies and/or someone who loves a good Laksa.

Small laksa house in the CBD with aromatic flavour in the air.

>The House
Casual atmosphere with ambient lighting. Entering you can smell the curry. Ok for small groups. Since we went with 7 people, the only spots enough for us were the front door entrance. I can tell you that this worst place to seat with cold door air blowing into your face every minute plus corner seat to the pipes.

Got myself a laksa house special for $11.80. Ordered at the counter and food came about 3 minutes later. Heaps of flavour as the smell of coconut and curry engulf your sense of smell. Laksa was mild in terms of chilli. Chicken mear was nice, maybe a little undercooked and tofu was fried a little to hard for my taste. Still a delicious dish. I would recommend trying it.

Had the Combination curry laksa. Honestly hit the spot- the broth was hearty and creamy and I would definitely come back again. They have one of the best curry laksas I’ve ever had especially considering the price (very cheap!) and amount of satisfaction.

Be warned the place is quite small though so I recommend really small groups and avoiding peak dinner times. Service was ok but I barely noticed because of that big bowl of goodness in front of me

We came here many times and I would say these two dishes are our favorite dishes. They are Mee Pok with bbq pork and Hanese Chicken. They were on point , very yummy.

We also tried the Bak Khu Teh but we think it is average.

The place is always busy recommend to go off peak time.

Even though the place is very small, they serve one of the best laksa’s I have ever tried. Laksa is served in a large bowl and satisfy the cravings for a soup and a dinner.
Tea tarik is a must try hot drink and they serve with stronger side of the tea than the sweetness which makes you even more hungrier to finish the laksa bowl.
Ambiance wise it’ll be a bit noisy because of the place restrictions but otherwise just great.

Got the bbq pork mee Pok. It’s an extremely filling dish with heaps of noodles in it but let’s just say it isn’t the same flavor as you get back in Singapore/malaysia, owing to the different kinda chilli paste they use.

That being said, it’s probably the closest I’ve come to a mee pok and at $10 odd dollars, can’r complain much!

Really nice broth, plenty of ingredients and a very good price. It wasn't incredible, but I certainly enjoyed it. I was feeling a little under the weather, So I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more when I go back. The service could have been a little more friendly, but nothing to complain about. I think I'll go with the hawker laksa next time.

On the outside, Malaysian Laksa House doesn't really stand out due to its lowkey exterior, but do not let that deter you as this little gem is a favourite amongst many. I personally love this place because the food is great and very affordable, therefore being one of my favourite places to go whenever I have university. The servings are generous but the service can be rushed due to the amount of patrons. Though a few negatives is that the inside itself can be especially cramped and stuffy on hot days so I usually only go here when the weather is cold.

My partner and I have lunched or dinnered here several times. Their combination curry laksa bowl has never disappointed, it's a generous portion too and well priced. Broth might be a little overly salty sometimes, but we've always found the food quality is great, service is efficient. This place can often be very, very busy and when it's packed with diners, squeezing into/out of seats can be difficult. I've seen other dishes come out of the kitchen and they look terrific too, so might try those someday besides just the laksa.
