Had lunch out on the deck, in the sun looking out on the river, the staff here are very attentive and knowledgeable, the fish, salad, with the olive oil/bread I had was AMAZING. Overall - great venue, great service and great food. 5 stars.
Beautiful coffee and gelato shop next door! Very friendly staff too. Nice one
Beyond amazing! The most wonderful Italian I have ever had and the staff are so great :)
One of the best times, food n service thank you it was magic from Perth WA
Delicious food, exceptional service and wonderful company. Great dinner!! Worth the drive from Mornington peninsula.
Good food, waiting for dessert let's see
went last night, it was great. amazing food, friendly efficient service, couldn't ask for more
Great place to eat, good food.
4.5 Tucked away in the second level in Southgate, Tutto Benne is an authentic Italian eatery that’s escaped our radar till now. Their risotto, while perhaps not the healthiest of options, no doubt won our praise and our hearts, being so full of flavour and heavenly rich. Don’t forget about their gelato either, which was pretty spot on too!
As at the time of writing, they are offering $20 takeaway of any gnocchi and gelato during this pandemic, which represents amazing value and a great way to support small businesses.
Incredible risotto with so much flavour! Great service too. Would have been nice to have the heaters on outside as it was quite cold
We visited Tutto Bene for a quick coffee break. My friend discovered this place by chance and recommended that we check it out. It ended up being a fantastic recommendation. The coffee was amazing and personally, I feel that it has some of the best coffee in Melbourne. Even my soy cappuccino tasted amazing. This is on my list of must-visit places and I will be returning the next time I'm in Melbourne!
This restaurant has become a popular and reliable date night destination for both my girlfriend and I, and has never disappointed, food has been nothing short of exceptional and we both are already looking forward to our next visit there.
Great atmosphere, great food and staff were very friendly. The best gelato ever! Definitely will be coming back 😊
The staff are friendly and attentive, the ambiance is lovely. Enjoyed everything about this establishment.
We both shared calamari salad and each had a risotto each: beef ragu; and mussels and confit tomatoes - simple, tasty and elegant food.
Wine and coffee was good, and service top notch.
We will be back!
I really like the gelati here, it's almost a secret find, as you have to go up the escalators from the riverside walk.
The panna cotta was soft and creamy, perfectly replicating the flavours of a creme caramel.
I actually came back to have a tiramisu, which was also delicious with flavours of coffee, mascarpone and actual sponge mixed through. Great textures.
$5 for 1 scoop in a waffle cone, pretty good value for the location!
We had tried out Tutto Bene’s test kitchen Tuesday which happens every last Tuesday of the month!
We had the braised beef, egg pasta with roast chicken ragu and smoked duck breast as the mains and pastry baked ice cream with apple compote for dessert!
My favorite main was the smoked duck breast as the meat was so tender and juicy! It also came with artichoke purée, chestnuts and chocolate and sour cherry jus! It was interesting how the chocolate and sour cherry worked as it provided sweetness to the duck!
The dessert was pretty lovely as it was not overly sweet and it crumbled into my mouth! It was very similar to an apple crumble!
We had a good experience at Tutto Bene and look forward to their next test kitchen and trying the rest of their menu!
Lovely restaurant with great date night atmosphere. On the last Tuesday of every month they host an experimental dining experience called Test Kitchen Tuesday’s which includes 4 courses for $40 - amazing value for menu, the dishes were inventive and my favourite has to be the dessert - a modern take on apple pie, Torta Di Mele
Tutto Bene (in Italian: “Everything’s Good”) is a lovely eating establishment that overlooks the Yarra River with views of Flinders Street. The restaurant serves premium quality Italian food and they have recently appointed head chef Nicolo Conenna. We were invited to the launch of their new monthly event called ‘Test Kitchen Tuesdays’ which is a four course degustation showcasing new dishes introduced each month.
The Tagliolino with Roast chicken ragu was definitely our favourite dish. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the mint and orange that accompanied the dish were beautiful. Other dishes included duck breast with Jerusalem artichoke puree, braised feed with wild mushroom consommé and for dessert there was a deconstructed apple pie. The customer service was fantastic. The waiter who poured our wine for each course was very attentive and had impressive knowledge on the wine.
Would definitely recommend!
Tuesdays are the new hot dining day at Tutto Bene. Recently appointed head chef Nicolo Conenna (095 Group, Carmine’s Group) heralds in a fresh dining event for any foodie’s calendar: Test Kitchen Tuesdays , commencing on 25 June.
Occupying the last Tuesday of each month, Tutto Bene’s Test Kitchen Tuesday will see diners treated to a degustation of delights, enjoying four courses for just $40 and $30 for matching wines.
The set menu will comprise all new dishes each month, only available on the night. Gastrology recently enjoyed a sneak peek of what diners can expect from Test Kitchen Tuesdays and were thoroughly impressed.

Tutto Bene is a bit of a Melbourne institution Located upstairs along the river in Southbank it has fabulous views of Flinders Street Station. Inside is an authentic bistro feel with lots of tables which spill out on to the balcony. It has an intimate feeling and you can dine without being too close to the table next to you.
We've dined here loads of times both in the evening and for work lunches and have always found the staff to be warm and welcoming and the food to be of high standard.
The menu consists of authentic Italian dishes mixed in with traditional family recipies and some with a modern flare. The dishes we've tried all use good quality ingredients and are full of flavour.
They offer a 2 course set menu Mon-Sat for $45 with a glass of premium wine.
This month they're launching test kitchen Tuesdays - where on the last Tuesday of each month (lunch or dinner) you can book for 4 courses at only $40 (matching wines an extra $30). We attended the launch of this event and it gives the chef a chance to try out his new dishes for the upcoming month and see if they should be included on the menu. We LOVED the Tagliolino with roast chicken ragu (Chef's family recipe) and are raving about the Rosemary smoked duck breast with chocolate and sour cherry jus - possibly the best dish I've ever had! We think that $40 for this is a great deal.
This is a popular place and we suggest you book if you're going in peak times. Bookings are essential for Test Kitchen Tuesdays.
The best risotto you will have in Melbourne. This place is just a classic bistro. With very attentive staff, great view and super delicious Italian food.

Home to the best Risotto in Melbourne. The Italian restaurant, Tutto Bene has been a Southbank favourite for years.
The restaurant overlooks the Yarra and has an authentic feel through the atmosphere, staff and extra touches within the styling.
An interesting fact about this restaurant.. the Italian President has dined here and has a menu item named after him - the Al Presidente risotto.
After your dining experience, you can visit the attached Gelato stand and order some authentic and mouth watering flavours.

We had the lemon spaghettini (with blue swimmer crab in basil pesto and pistachio), the granchino risotto (spanner crab with tomato & chilli) and the porchetta (roast pork belly with horseradish cream, heirloom vegies & blood orange jus).
The pork was the winner out of the three (thanks for the recommendation Tony), with its skin crispy and meat tender with very little fat which is my preference! My father thought the risotto was a bit salty (I didn't) and my mother thought the spaghettini had an unusual taste, but I think it was just something different to the usual palate.
A yummy dinner by my account, definitely will bring my better half back to have the pork so I can try something else!
Tutto Bene looked after our big group with many food allergies. Barbara was so helpful and understanding. Professional staff, beautiful view of the city and everyone enjoyed their meals. Thank you to the chef who had to work with celiac's, gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegetarians in our group. Well done, we all had a great night!
“Everything is good” at Tutto Bene. We have fond memories of its signature risotto dishes and I still have blissful dreams about breakfasting on its cornetti ripieni – Italian croissant – filled with funghi misti and stracchiatella.
Tutto Bene makes everything in-house from fresh produce – even baking its own sourdough bread. And naturally that also includes its own gelato, which is a key element in some of the restaurant’s dolci (desserts). If you aren’t dining in you can purchase Tutto Bene’s gelato from its gelato counter, where you can also get coffee, biscotti and other sweet treats.
The gelateria offers just twelve flavours, which change with the seasons. Servings are generous, so it is great value for money. We particularly like Tutto Bene’s chocolate, the cherry mania, studded with pieces of plump fruit, and of course the classic pistachio.
Some seating is available, but why not take your gelato outside for a stroll along the riverbank?
Great flavours friendly staff and good selection.... Must try the selection of risottos and also Italian alcohol.... Great views... An experience worth having is their surprise 4 course menu
Can’t argue with Zomato!!
Tutto Bene was definitely a high quality restaurant beautifully situated in Southgate overlooking the river and the city skyline.
Excellent Italian cuisine with great service from 1 Italian and 2 French waiters. No doubt ‘passing through’, but definitely added to the authenticity which I believe is a major characteristic of multi-cultural Melbourne. Bi
onic appetite!!
Lovely place for food and drinks. Spacious seating, view of Yarra river. Service was friendly and prompt. Friday afternoon happy hour has good deals. We had cocktails for $10 each. Citrus themed, perfect for summer afternoons!
If you want your delicious meal to be accompanied by a great view and atmosphere then Tuuto Bene is for you. Located on the second floor of Southgate, the terrace overlooks the yarra towards Flinders st station.
We were given complementary bread which was soft with a slight chew and thickly sliced. While the bread was great, the crust was a bit burnt and added some bitterness. As it is renowned for its risotto, I knew I would regret it if I chose anything else and so selected the spanner crab risotto ($30). The risotto was great and there was plenty of crab throughout it. Nothing was overcooked and the flavours were light and refreshing. However I did think that a bit of herbs for garnish would have helped with the presentation. The pistachio mousse($14) however was the star of this meal. Although not a fan of mousse usually, I was told upon selection that the mousse is their best dessert by the waiter and he was right. The pistachio flavour was prominent and further pronouced by the addition of finelt crushed nut throughout. The texture was on point and servings were generous. The crunchy caramel popcorn juxtaposed with the smoothness of the mousse and gave it sweetness. Overall a fantastic meal, although the servings of risotto could be a bit larger especially considering the price. I would definitely come back even just for the mousse.
Service at Tutto Bene is friendly and attentive. The gentleman who served us was lovely and knowledgeable and gave recommendations for wine and even let us try it before we chose one. The atmosphere is quite nice, although if the weather allows, sit on the terrace to just take in the view! They also have a cute gelato bar outside, although I didn't get to try it.
Overall great place, ticks all the boxes but is a bit on the pricey side!
Wonderful place.. amazing italian food..
We opted for the set menu as we were too many..
everything was too good ..
Meatballs were to die for.. charcoal grilled chicken was fantastic.
The price is a bit more but thats what you pay for good location and good food.
Definitely reccommend.
Excellent selection of risotto. Perfect temperature, lovely flavours - especially the Pollo. Not a lot of choice if you’re not after risotto, though. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere, breezy and sunny. Been multiple times and would go again!
Recommend the open ravioli, duck risotto, and stuffed calamari. Freshly made pasta and service was great.
The atmosphere was nice, very cozy, perfect for couple and small friend/family group.
Modern, simply beautiful and more than basic.
This beautiful Italian restaurant is on 2nd floor of southgate.
Entire menu items are so balanced. From entree, main to desserts!
The menus will statisfy your gastronomic curiosiry.
Details are killing point of this restaurant - aroma, texture and freshness..
Thanks for hardworking chefs.
First time I have been to this restaurant & was pleasantly surprised by their menu!
I had the tomato & pork sausage risotto which was delicious! My friend had the gnocchi with mushrooms which she enjoyed.
Would gladly return to this restaurant to try the other pasta, risotto & main dishes!
While located in what could be considered a tourist trap, tutto benne backs up its fabulous position with some great food. The entrees were tasty, especially the prawn and chickpea dip. Similarly the risottos were good as were the home made pastas - probably a touch salty for my palate but still nice. Service was largely good, could have been a touch more polite in some places.

Tutto Bene, famed risotto specialists, revealed their tips for the perfect risotto during a series of masterclasses in July. Taken by head chef Nathan Scarfo, all points were covered from the variety of rice and cooking process, to how risotto should be like in terms of texture and consistency. Vialone Nano rice is preferred, rather than Arborio, and simplicity is king.
So after reading mixed reviews on here, I wasn't sure if we should go... However I'm happy to say our food was great and service was excellent. My client has been recommending this place for years and I really enjoyed my bday dinner here!
Great ambience, we were seated outside next to the river (it was completely covered with heaters full functional). I ordered the black truffle risotto, made to perfection. Also ordered the mar-tea-ni, which was incredible, and the rose just as. Prices were justified for the quality of food and service.
Best chilli crab risotto in Melbourne! I come here for that dish when that's what I'm craving! Great selections of wine to compliment and a kick ass expresso to send you on your way!
Tutto Bene which means okay is more than an okay restaurant. Located on level one of Southgate Shopping Complex, it is situated facing the Yarra River. Hence, you can bask in the sun when seated outdoors or sit inside to escape the winds of Melbourne.
They offer a $40 set menu which includes two course (starter and plat principal) and a glass of wine (red or white) or a coffee.
My friend got the two-course menu while I decided to go for squid ink calamari risotto.
We were provided with complimentary delicious sourdough bread with olive oil and olives.
Staff are friendly but slow. Though our drinks came out quickly - my coffee was very bitter and strong but acidic tasting, our food took forever to come out - and it was a lunchtime and the restaurant was only one-third full.
The stuffed calamari with risotto looked like a polish dumpling with a fresh basil flavour and was quite salty.
The potato gnocchi had a beautiful rosemary flavour, a subtle sweetness, and the truffle and mushrooms only added to the flavour. However, the winner was the calamari risotto - just the right amount of kick to it with freshly chopped chilli and chilli oil, beautifully separated risotto rice (not the mushy rice you get in some restaurants) and small bits of calamari. It could definitely do with more calamari which was barely there.
The food was well salted and flavoured. Portion sizes are small compared to most pasta places so best to get a starter if you're very hungry.
Would definitely come back to try other dishes.
Nice without being extraordinary.
Had a work lunch here today and look, it's a real nice setting on the Yarra, great view and location. The service was lovely.
I had the duck risotto which was tasty - was it the best risotto I've had? Probably not. The pastas looked good as well. However the servings were small considering the price.
A good spot if you want a feed with a view.
The risotto was one of the best I've personally had. You don't need to pack the cheese on and still tastes like heaven. The atmosphere is quite romantic so it's a great place to do date night
Tutto Benne means – it’s ‘All okay!’ We all know the saying ‘The better the view, the worse the food.’ Sometime, it’s not okay… I’m looking at you Darling Harbour. It’s fair to say that Southbank is Melbourne’s Darling Harbour -the sweeping skyline, the waterfront view and snapping tourists looking for a bite. After 13 years in Southbank, Tutto Benne has taken over the balcony, overlooking the Melbourne skyline and the Yarra river. “Eating delicious food with a spectacular city view – what’s not to love”, says Restaurant Manager Osvaldo. The riverside terrace has since introduced a new Summer Aperitivo Grazing and Cocktail menu. The Venetian style tapas (Cicchetti) are designed to be shared.
Last night I tried Tutto Bene. It is very difficult to find a restaurant in Southbank that has both good food and is affordable. I was going to head to my personal favourite Blue Train when my friend pointed out Tutto Bene.
The prices are quite reasonable especially for their vegetarian dishes. I ordered the Mezzaluna, something I had never heard of before. Mezzaluna is a filled half-moon shaped pasta. It is quite similar to ravioli. This Mezzaluna was filled with carrot, and also came with some beetroot puree. The filling was quite tasty - sometimes it amazes me that something like carrot can be so delicious in filled pasta. The hazelnuts also went well with the dish. The photo I have of the Mezzaluna does not do it justice - yes, there was a lot of lettuce on my dish BUT there was a generous serving of mezzaluna. Tutto Bene also make their own pasta, so it was nice and fresh!
Tutto Bene is apparently famous for its risotto. This really got me thinking - I had never heard of many restaurants being famous for their risotto - most Italian restaurants may only serve one or two different types of risotto dishes so Tutto Bene is a real treat for those who would like to try a lot of different risotto flavours. I am not a fan of risotto hence why I ordered the pasta dish but my friend decided to be brave enough to try one of their risotto dishes. My friend ordered the Salsicce. This contained pork and fennel sausage with tomato and basil. All I could really see was tomato so at first I assumed that perhaps the sausage had been mashed up but my friend confirmed to me that most of the sausage could be found underneath the risotto. He really liked it!
I also really enjoyed the glass of sparkling Moscato which was one of their house wines. I really liked that the waitress showed the bottle of wine before pouring the wine into the glass to confirm that this was the right wine I had ordered.
Service was really good and I couldn't fault the service here.
The Mezzaluna was $22, and the risotto was a bit pricier at $25.
I will definitely return for the Mousse and the Lasagna.
Good food and excellent location for dinner overlooking the Yarra. The service was good in most aspects, though one item on our order was missed altogether - and this was realised after the kitchen had closed for the evening. Though the crew apologised and had a couple of salads on the house, we felt more could have been done to get something to a hungry guest; we ended up sharing our meals. That said, a great evening with good food and wine!
I was invited along to Tutto Bene to taste the chef's selection of their new menu and gelato.
Beautiful views over the Yarra river across to the CBD. This will be a great summer dinner spot.
My favourite dish was the squid ink spagetti. A must try.
Find me on Instagram @Melbourne_Explorer.
We were lucky to get a table on a busy Friday night. U was really impressed with the service and the quality of food, not to mention the great views. Definitely recommend!
We came to Tutto Bene for a quick dinner after work today. Excellent service (particularly the wee Scottish lass) My partner had the Tartufo risotto and I had the Risi e bisi. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Next time we come we will stay longer to try more from their menu. Very pleased indeed!
Update 25th May 2018: We came for dinner last night before the theatre and I had some of the best gnocchi I’ve ever tasted..delicious!
Fabulous food! Highly Chicken saltimbocca and funghi misti risotteria are highly recommended. The staff are very friendly too. We would definitely go back there.
Had a Food and Wine festival lunch special here! Highly recommend the goat ribs. Great ambiance and views of the city or cosy and cool inside tables. Enjoy!

Tried out Tutto Bene for the 1st time today for lunch and chose their entrée sized Mare e Monti (seared sea scallops, with wagyu bresaola, roasted shallots, corn purée) for $ 22.00. Wow, those scallops were cooked to absolute perfection placing my palate in heaven with the corn purée topping it off - almost to the point whereby I almost ordered a 2nd entrée serving, but alas my budget for the day! My meal was served just within 15 minutes of ordering with the restaurant being very quiet (Monday lunch). Service provision was great - no complaints there.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 4.5/5, Service Provision 5/5, Will I return: Yes, highly recommend

Amazing staff, amazing food. Recommend the chefs selection - lots of beautiful food choices I wouldn't have even thought to order! Our table had a beautiful view of the Yarra and we felt very looked after.
The food and personal service was excellent. The highlight was tasting the gingerbread panna cotta that was being previewed by the chef. I'd go back just for that!
This restaurant never fails to deliver good food bursting with flavour. Genuine Italian dishes while avoiding bland cliche's, for example the lasagne is light with a spicy aftertaste and subtle cheese topping. Also the gelato is exceptionally good with interesting flavours always available. One gripe is the small portions that always leave you wanting more.
We were greeted by such friendly staff members and offered a drink at the bar while we waited for our table as we were early for our reservation. They ended up getting us a table early which was wonderful. The polpette and the mozzarella with watermelon were the perfect way to start the evening, followed by a delicious crab risotto. Just perfect! Cannot fault anything about the meal or service at all!
Perfect views on the Yarra, great service and delicious Italian food! I came back to Tutto after two years and it's still the same, beautiful Italian music in the background with great views! Tutto takes you back to Italy. The food is delicious, I had the prawn, zucchini and saffron risotto and it was absolutely delicious ! I wish I had room for dessert!!! Will definitely come back, merci!
We came here for a birthday celebration. The ambience was very good and we got to sit by the river. The bread was quite cold however the risotto was on point.
Great food, service a bit haphazard but friendly. I would have given 4 stars as food was nice but they kept telling us they had run out of things way after we'd ordered, and we had to keep changing. And at 830 on a Sat night. Seems a bit disorganised.
With 11 types of risotto to choose from we chose Capesante - scallops, black truffle and chive. This was heaven! It was aromatically earthy and had a gorgeously creamy, rich mouth-feel. The rich earthy creaminess of the rice was punctuated by fat nuggets of sweet, tender scallops. Wonderful! There was not a speck of rice left on the dish after we had finished it.
I can't say no to handmade pasta. So when I saw the lemon spaghettini with basil pesto, pistachio and blue swimmer crab I had to order it. This verdant dish was delicious. The pasta was perfect and was so hot that steam was escaping from it as I lifted the strands off the plate. The pesto was smooth as silk and I just loved the sweet crab. Clearly, Tutto Bene prides itself with the freshest seafood (many of the seafood items on the menu proudly proclaim their local provenance). The pistachio added a nice textural contrast and its nuttiness didn't overwhelm the rest of the dish.
Amazing food but very small portion. Me and a friend had the salumi, lamb ribs, oysters and octopus as entree. Octopus tastes so good. I got gnocchi for main which was not as good. The place is good for catch up with friends or have dates.
We came here for date night. We got a table facing the river which was nice. We ordered the eggplant chips for entree which was delicious. We ordered lamb shank risotto and seafood spaghetti which tasted authentic. Do save some room for dessert, the self saucing chocolate pudding was divine. Would definitely come back here again!
Warm, easy and friendly service. A relaxed, tidy and comfortable venue perfect place for a meal with a view of the yarra river, close to the melbourne cbd and attractions, good sample of More than decent italian food melbourne was and is still associated with. Pricing is reasonable for the Southgate precinct. It continues to impress guests (with kids from interstate). The gnocchi was pillowy, the mushroom risotto not undercooked and full of shroomy goodness. the calamari dish was generous. The rucolla salad could be improved with being a little less tart and using fresh sliced pears instead. this one of the few restaurants at southgate that has withstood the decades! i wish it the best and hope it stays with melbourne for decades to come. ps delicious gelatos here too.
We were a group of 5 women having lunch before attending the ballet for the first time in 2 years. It was also the first time some of us had been to a city restaurant for 2 years so we were hoping for something special and Tutto Bene was wonderful! The staff were friendly, very efficient and the food was not only delicious but presented beautifully! We all had entrees which were all generous servings. I would highly recommend Tutto Bene! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
We came as small group and were given a set menu for a 2 course. The risotto dominated the main course where there was four varieties and only two others to choose from a pasta in a meat dish.
Would’ve like to see more of a variety in the set menu as it was very quite restricted. Food was quite good and price was reasonable as well as the setting and service.
Well it was for my birthday so good feels to start with. Really glad I dined there that night. The two risottos we ordered were delicious, and of the same high quality I remember from last time dining there seven years earlier. And terrific attentive wait staff in Jesse and Leniency. I just wished there were more guests there for atmosphere on a mid-winter Friday night. It’s such a beautiful spot overlooking the Yarra and city through clear wall canopy, with cosy heating. Loved it.
Look, at first I thought La Camera was THE Italian place to dine along the river.. But Buoy was I wrong... loved the ambience and setting at Tutto Bene. And staff were courteous enough to ask if we had an upcoming show that evening. Food and service was amazing with our meals arriving super fast. Sorry, La Camera. It's not you, it's Tutto Bene...
