Review Fratellino Pizzeria - Melbourne

Johnny Le
Photos won't do it justice. Need to try for yourselves. Best pizza I've ever indulged in in all of Melbourne. Plan ahead though, if you're hungry there could be a wait. Rang on different days and the ETA for pick up was 45 and 65 minutes. Great pizza means popular demand. You'll without a doubt get what you paid for. Don't cheap out on pizza, you won't know what you're missing out on without tasting the best.

Judging by the menu, I thought Fratellino was some how related to Bon Tempo, but it didn’t taste like it, which is why I feel like I disappointed myself, in comparing the two. The taste was average, service was friendly and there is a lot of good free parking around the restaurant.

Friendly service and great atmosphere! The pasta is good had was DELICIOUS! Unfortunately the pizzas we ordered were quite soggy. Will definitely come again and hope the pizzas will be better second time.

I have been to the restaurant multiple times and have liked the food and have good memories but this time I was shocked with service level and behaviour toward us. My child is 2 years old and when my child cried the owner who was making the pizza was making faces and even asked his staff member to clear the plates before we finish as he was getting irritated Further they served pasta first after 30 min and pizza after 1 hour, I am not sure if this was done on purpose. Also we ordered 2 pizza and pasta but was only given 1 pizza. After following up with wait staff nothing was done If you don’t want children at your place please put a board on your restaurant and don’t be arrogant. Will never go this place as there are better restaurants who treat people and kids better
Alexandra
Pizza and pasta was good however it took over an hour for us to receive our meal. We ordered an entree and that also came with our main. They did not prioritise dining in customers hence the long wait. Customers were walking in to order take away and majority received there large orders before dining in customers did. Some of the waitresses were nice and friendly. The owner was absolutely awful, arrogant and rude! Half our table did not receive cutlery and when he was approached to bring more, he rolled his eyes at us and his body language was terrible. I also observed him to be like this around other customers. The restaurant itself was so smoky, there was no ventilation at all, it was uncomfortable sitting in there. When we left, our clothes and hair smelt as if we have been sitting next to a bonfire. I will not be coming back again, especially after the way the owner treats and speaks to his customers.

This place has to be one of the best woodfired pizzas. Great variety to please every taste bud. Good range of wines and magnificent service. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.!!

The most unassuming restaurant in South Yarra/Hawksburn. Yet behind the doors, a hidden gem awaits. Amazing and authentic food accompanied by wonderful service. The pizzas are perfect and the pasta is to die for. Fresh, fantastic and fabulous.

A very busy little restaurant for a reason, rated as one of the best woodfired Pizza restaurants in Melbourne, it does not disappoint! Incredible pizza, well priced. Atmosphere is a little loud and crowded and we were seated in a narrow walkway which was a bit uncomfortable for me but thankfully I was offered the seat with a wall behind me! Really the food is worth any negatives, if you love woodfired pizza you must try Fratellino!

I’ve lived in prahran for 20 years and never tried this place. <br/>Ordered a pizza and pasta from them tonight and it was honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten, in the top 5. I highly recommend it. (I had a vegetarian) check it out!!

Great service, even better pizzas. Awesome!!!
Srslyfoods
The pizza is incredible value, delicious high quality ingredients perfectly balanced on a lovely base. The base is never soggy and always beautifully charred. We tried a few of their pastas as well and they have been beautiful! No complaints on the food!
Pickypiggy
The pizza was delicious!! The dough was light and chewy and had just enough toppings. However on the other hand, the pastas were not great- sauces lacked depth of flavour and seriously lacked seasoning e.g. The chicken pieces in the Pana e Avocado was not seasoned at all.

Yum X100! Super family friendly with a fantastic cozy atmosphere. Definitely need to book because they’re almost always packed. Pizzas are delicious!

Fratellino Pizzeria does hearty casual Italian food well. We recommend coming to try the wood fire pizzas which you can watch get made in the open kitchen. The pizza dough has the right amount of chewiness and is the perfect thickness. Also, the amount of topping is optimal - enough for taste but not overloading the pizza and making it soggy. We enjoyed all the different pizzas that we tried. Unfortunately, the pastas were quite average and nothing memorable in comparison.

If you want a no frills delicious meal come to fratellinos! With a huge range of pizzas and pastas this is an awesome little restaurant for everyone. I particularly love that there’s options for sizing in both the pizzas and pastas too. Hearty, warm and a great one for families or friends. Definitely book though as it’s always busy!

I’m so disappointed in tonight’s dining experience. We come here a lot as locals and also recommend to all of our friends as one of the best pizza places in Melbourne. Obviously it’s a no frills kind of place but in general you would expect atleast a minimum level of customer service. <br/><br/>We ate here tonight for maybe the 50th time and the waiter/owner was his usually rude self when we ordered. We put up with this because we like the pizza. <br/><br/>There was a cockroach on the wall behind us when we were eating and I screamed out of fright and was told to stop overreacting and to calm down by the same guy. <br/>He squished the bug and kicked it under the fridge next to us and when we enquired about where the bug we were told he not to worry about it. <br/><br/>Considering we come here a lot and we spent a lot of money here I thought it would be right considering the service and lack of apology that we would at least get a discount on our meal. <br/><br/>I said this to him when we were paying and he ignored me to the point where I had to say it a few times. He continued to be rude and offered no apology at all not to mention his attitude was awful and one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant in Melbourne. <br/><br/>We are not stupid and obviously bugs come into restaurants but we don’t come out to pay for a restaurant experience to have such poor service and to have no apology or no discount when a situation like this happens.

Always busy and for good reason! Best pizzas by far - quality produce and perfectly cooked. Well worth the wait. The piccante and capricciosa pizzas were amazing :) Thanks so much!

Warm, cosy and delicious every time we come! Nice thin base pizza baked to perfection in the wood fired oven. Very fresh pasta and ingredients. Wine is very cheap but very good! Will keep coming back for sure

If you’re looking for classic, delicious Italian food the this is the place. This isn’t about pretty food, or fancy “Instagramable” places. This food is just tasty and delicious Italian food then you have to go here! I went for my partners sisters birthday dinner and it was so fabulous food. They make everything in front of you, the staff are friendly and would recommend going with a group of friends or family. Even cute for a romantic date night!

Came here with a group of 6 people I had booked a week in advance and they couldn’t find my booking, it was a little awkward whilst they tried to find my missing details and were annoyed but eventually they found a table for us. The pizza and pasta here are delicious, not oily or overly cheesy, the pizza base is thin and crispy. Bonus is the BYO wine. With so many options to pick from I can’t wait to come back!

Couldn’t get into 48h as they had a private function so we wandered by. Didn’t look fancy but we spotted the wood fired pizza oven and the $19 bottle of house wine... so in we went.<br/><br/>It’s definitely a good place; very busy and loud with a great atmosphere. Took a while for service but once we good it food came quickly. The pizza was delightful; nice and thin, not oily or burnt, nice and crunchy and smelling wonderful. The gnocchi was amazing; I’m not normally a gnocchi fan but it was wonderfully chewy and not doughy at all. Of course also the guilty dessert tiramisu. <br/><br/>Yum yum all around and very cheap too. $47 for everything. Can’t complain!

Love this place! Authentic Italian pizzas & they make their own dough. Good options for Vegetarians & our usual joint when in south Yarra. Don’t judge by its size, go inside & it is always lively when we visit or take away. Service is pretty fast too. Try their gnocchi. Best pizza place in Melbourne, imho.

We went to this place for my son birthday, as he asked for pizza. We ordered couple pasta plates and the pizza. The food was good and we enjoyed, but the service were the worst ever. The dirtiest cutlery and glasses ever, no napkins, coffee without the regular under plate and the waitress hands over the cup border, and its respective spoon placed on my pasta plate. Never again..!
TheFitFoodie
Don’t judge a book by its cover. The restaurant is not overally fancy when you walk in, it’s a casual family friendly place with a fantastic and broad menu. <br/>The menu offers plenty of pasta and pizza options, the starters were okay but I didn’t love bruchetta. <br/>All other food however was superb, incredibly tasty, great size and well priced. <br/>For four of us it cost $150, great value + BYO. <br/>Would recommend.
Bridget
This place might not look overly fancy but my goodness the food is always 10/10! Come here regularly for eat in & take away. Pizzas are amazing & pasta of a high standard. Their gnocchi is some of the best I’ve tasted. Love you can byo & you can book. Great place to catch up in a group!
Kate Dougherty
Casual family style Italian restaurant. Broad menu with cheap prices. Also had the option of BYO. Only criticism is that the venue can get incredibly noisy when busy.

Food here is great but dine in service is bad. I recommend take away as these are prioritized over diners. Long wait for food (nearly 1 hour) meanwhile plenty of people are coming in and out to get takeaway. Also there was a large group that didn’t seem to have enough space to sit. Yet they still crammed 2 people on a small ledge that’s too small to fit a large pizza.
Sig
I have to say that I’m also one of those that can’t understand how this place has such a high rating<br/>The service was ridiculously slow<br/>It took over 20 minutes for the waitress to even bring us a menu and ask us if we wanted a drink<br/>It then took 45 minutes to get 3 pizzas which were burnt, tasteless and soggy. It was fairly evident that the waitress was focusing her attention on the table next to us that was occupied by friends <br/>Shame, lucky there are plenty of other good Italian restaurants to choose from

If your looking for the best quality woodfire pizza at a good price you have found it. Been around for years apparently but just stumbled across this. In a great area but a hidden gem. They say a well known personality runs the place. Definitely recommend for a good quality feed but book to avoid disappointment if going in a group.

My partner Jay Mahen really wanted to find somewhere authentic to dine tonight. We came across this place which had a good menu and was reasonable priced. Aren't we glad we found it. The lasagna and pizza were so on point and ended the meal with an exceptional tiramisu

Contrary to what most reviews on here state, my wife and I did not have a very good experience. We had booked expecting it to be busy, however, when we arrived we said we had a booking and received a blank stare and no response from the waitress. She then walked back and spoke to another who directed us to our table. We received no greeting and did not find them friendly at all, so already were off to a rocky start. <br/><br/>We then had water and wine glasses put on our table (byo) quite aggressively and they again didn’t say a word to us - not what you would expect from a restaurant with this rating. Further on, we sat waiting for someone to take our order for at least 25 minutes - even after we made eye contact multiple times. Finally the waitress came and started cleaning the table next to us and my wife asked her if we could order. She again gave us a blank stare and was very impolite. At this point I was ready to leave as we both did not even want to eat the food as the poor service put a dampener on our experience. <br/><br/>The food came in reasonable time but was not fantastic. The pizza was basically glorified bread with minimal toppings and no sauce. It was dry and had no flavor. I would have preferred dominos. We got the pesto ravioli which was actually quite enjoyable, however I found it to be a little under cooked. Both dishes seemed a little rushed and were disappointing. With a little more toppings (or with any amount of sauce) the pizza could have been wonderful. <br/><br/>Overall, we did not receive even one moment of good service throughout the evening. I advise the managers to encourage their staff to focus on providing quality service, as in times such as ours it can make a significant difference in capturing repeat customers who will make exceptions for average food. In our case we did not receive this and as such will not be returning. <br/>

If you love chewy, doughy, freshly made pizza, this is the place. Went on a Tuesday evening at about 6pm and they are actually fully booked. My partner and I managed to get a seat that was reserved for 2 customers who will be coming in at 7pm. Waited quite long for the food as they handmade the pizza upon ordering. Fresh, nice and fluffy dough. Definitely would love to be back but would remember to make a reservation for sure. I felt kinda rush as the appetiser came out at 6.20 and the mains at 6.35. We left at about 7.05pm.

Best pizza destination in Melbourne. Like if you are coming to this place then you can expect some best pizza that you won't be able to get in Melbourne anywhere. Bon Appetite !

Good quality pizza and good price. Always find some staff very unfriendly and seems discriminate, usually take away for pizza instead of dine-in to avoid being treated uncomfortable.

Love this Italian byo restaurant. It has a great vibe and awesome food. Make sure you book in advance and bring a group. Great pizza and pasta at an affordable price.

Fratellino is one of my faves when it comes to a casual night of pizza and pasta. It’s a family owned restaurant that has a comforting vibe that makes you feel at home. Their pizza dough is wood-fired and I can only describe it as heaven. It’s unassuming and super tasty. None of that fancy, fusion, modern stuff just good quality traditional Italian food.
Jennifer
Delicious authentic Italian pizza at a very affordable price. What else can you ask for? Great customer service by the staff too. The only negative thing I can say about this place would probably be the fact that it always gets busy, especially on the weekends and it’s almost impossible to just walk in and find a table without a reservation. However, this just says how amazing this place is due to its excessive amount of customers 😊 I highly recommend this place 10/10 🙌

Fratellino's never disappoints. I compare all Italian food to this place and nothing measures up. Best Italian in Melbourne in my opinion. I only wish they would deliver!

I came twice, the first time we didn't book a table on a Saturday night and came in fully booked so we ate outside the restaurant in a cold winter night, fortunately the food was very good. the second time we booked a table and it was a good time dining there. we ordered seafood pizza and fettuccini they were so good. food was cheap. Stuff were overall friendly.

Great vibes and atmosphere with the wood fire pizza oven in direct sight!<br/>Tried the gnocchi, ravioli and many pizzas. Very fair pricing for a quality taste! Would recommend - my go to Italian!

Never lets you down. Would have to be one of the best places for pizzas in Melbourne. Have been going here for years and it’s still as good as it was when it opened.

No idea how it has such a high rating. Definitely give this place a miss.<br/><br/>We ordered<br/>• Vocaneno Pizza<br/>• Vegetariana Pizza<br/>• Mista Salad<br/>• Sparkling water<br/><br/>We ordered and about 30 minutes later we received the salad. It was very plain and under-seasoned. Didn’t seem fresh at all either. At this time we reminded them about the sparkling water as they still hadn’t brought it. It wasn’t even a busy night, plenty of tables available. When the pizzas arrived a couple of minutes later I was disappointed, to say the least. There were so little toppings or sauce on them and they were totally dry. The volcaneno, which is supposed to be spicy, had almost no spice but instead had way too much black pepper. Did someone confuse them with chilli peppers?<br/><br/>The decor inside is also not that great. If the food had been good I could forgive it easily but it was just so plain and boring inside. Reminds me of a takeaway pizza shop I guess.<br/><br/>Anyway, I have no clue how Fratellino’s is rated 4.4 at the time of writing. Maybe bought reviews? Seems totally wrong. Definitely avoid coming here, lots of far better places nearby.

I love this place for its simplicity and unbelievably delicious food. So many places get caught up in how their venue looks and forget to focus on good old customer service and amazing food! This place nails it - friendly staff, THE best Italian food and reasonable prices. Have never been disappointed. <br/>

Would you like to feel like eating in Naples. so don't waste time. Just book and visit Fratellino pizzeria, where you can enjoy a delicious four course Italian meal with reasonable prices and 100% Italian taste & quality. staffs serves you like you are in a VIP lounge while they are so friendly too. We visited this place after a week of our first visit just because we didnt want to wait for enjoying the experience again.

Ordered takeaway pizza on the phone and told to pick-up in 35 minutes. Arrived in 35 minutes but had to wait 20 more minutes for the pizza. When we have friends over, this is not ideal.<br/>The pizzas were quite nice, especially the dough but the toppings are a bit sparce. especially where there are big areas of just dough, no sauce even.<br/>The pizzas are very nice and traditional, but maybe not value for money.<br/>I would come back here again for a local pizza but there are better pizzas out there.
JPSands
We arrived to this busy pizzeria with high hopes. The service was excellent as we were seated straight away by the friendly staff. The pizza itself (prosciutto) was disappointing. 4 olives for 8 slices sums it up, not enough ingredients and the sauce had soaked into the dry base. The highlight was a well dressed salad, I wish it as the other way around.

Whilst I would love to give this place a high green 4.5-5/5 I simply cannot based on the experience we had there. The food was amazing - pizza and pasta were great! However we did end up taking away our Valentine’s Day dinner and eating it when we got home. It took about 40 minutes for a cheesy garlic pizza and an additional 20 for a gnocchi and a tortellini. <br/>Service was slow, our water was empty within 15 minutes and was not filled up I. The 1 hr and a half we were there. The restaurant was boiling - their fan was not on, the door was not open and my partner and I had sweat pouring off us. <br/>I advised the staff of this when I went to pay and ask for take away containers and there was no apology - simply a death stare from the chef behind the Pizza bar. <br/>There was a nice breeze when the door was open - had they have left it open the restaurant would have been so much cooler. <br/>Perhaps we will give this place another go but maybe in winter!

I went to Fratellino's for a friend's birthday and was excited as I has heard great reviews. However, when we got there we told them our booking name (for 3 people) and we were seated at the very back of the restaurant on a hot day without any kind of cooling system. Not only were we at the back but the table we were shown wasn't set and had two seats. We had obviously been forgotten. It was so hot and unpleasant throughout the evening that I was sweating profusely throughout my meal. Some of the staff attempted to sympathise with us, but our main server was rude and unwelcoming. Although the food was good, it wasn't enough to overcome the horrid conditions.

Had a craving for some pasta yesterday so I had a quick look around on zomato to see what I could find.<br/><br/>Was shocked to see such a high rating but having never heard of it before.<br/><br/>When we walked in, quickly realised that it must be really popular since it was so busy. <br/><br/>The young waitress had us seated right away and my girlfriend and I were starving so we ordered right away. <br/><br/>3 sides, 2 mains, 2 drinks and one mini bottle of sparkling champagne was $70.<br/><br/>That is amazing value for money. We were so full we even got some of it takeaway. <br/><br/>Worth going in. I rate it very highly

Easily the best local pizza and pasta joint in South Yarra! The price tag is a pleasant change from other expensive Italian too! Been here a couple times. First time was a quite weeknight, so service was great and food came out quickly. Pesto pasta and eggplant pizza to die for! Another time, on a Saturday in a big group it was great to get a couple of pizzas and pastas and be very full for around $20 each! Service was much slower and was quite cramped inside. Would still return again and again for the big selection of simple but delicious pizza and pasta on offer.

Best pizza ever. Doughy crust .. lots of sauce, cheese and other toppings. Choice is a hard one.<br/>I had the piccante and can safely say it aaa the best piccante I've ever had
Beatriz Ribeiro
Such a great and quite affordable!! Had a focaccia as starter and cannelloni which was very good, also tried a bit of one of their vegetarian crusty pizza. Yummm!<br/>Staff super friendly and available, totally recommend it, good vibe and great music.

I ordered a take away vegetarian pizza and tiramisu from this restaurant a week ago. The pizza base was so thin it was like paper, and they were very stingy with toppings. Even the toppings that were there were cut extra thin apparently to maximise profit. The pizza tasted ok, but was difficult to handle and left me hungry. But it got worse. The "tiramisu" was basically like a tub of thickened cream, a little liquor and a few flecks of cake mixed through dumped in a large take away box. It was about 95% cream and tasted terrible. It was just a pile of cream when I opened the box...easily the worst tiramisu i've ever tasted. You would think at this point it would get better right? Wrong. I complained to the Manager who said "that's how our tiramisu is always made and didn't seem interested in the fact the dessert was so poorly presented and tasted terrible. To his credit he offered only to refund the tiramisu, but only gave a very vague promise he would "look after me" the next time I ordered a pizza. So I call tonight to order a pizza 15 mins before closing (I live nearby). The Manager isn't in. The staff have no clue what was said and were just as clueless as me about the Manager's vague promise. Then after initially offering to take my order, the young guy who answered the phone tells me "Oh, oh sorry the kitchen's closed now. You'll have to come back another time". I'm glad he got a good laugh after I told him I would now be eating vegemite on toast for dinner, because I wont be coming back. Ridiculous!

We get take away from here once a month and despite it being a little cold and not super fresh by the time we get home it is still our fav in the immediate area.  There are lots of new pizza shops that have opened in this area but these guys are still the best.
Dam Burger
Pizzas are nice not amazing. Typical traditional Italian pizza with minimal topping. I understand that's traditional but not to my liking it like laying $20 for flat bread with tomato spread and ham. Lucky they also sell parma! Cheap wine made up for it I guess.
Greent
I just can't put into words how much I love this place for the pizza and pasta and the PRICE! $5 glasses of house wine. No that is not a typo. So delicious, and such good value. Everything I have tried on the menu (there's not much I haven't tried...) has been sensational, apart from the berry crepe. It was seriously terrible, but I will let that go because everything else is so good. Do yourself a favour and order the gnocchi, then dip your pizza crust in the sauce. Heaven.
Ignatia
Very busy restaurant with attentive staff. The pizza took quite some time to come to our table, but I guess that's because their pizzas are all made fresh to order. You can even see when they are rolling the dough, and letting the dough rise. The result is in the pizza, you can taste the difference. Worth the price, but I don't think my order is their most favorite, so I'd love to come back to try the other pizza (and when it's not so crowded).
Emily Morris
This place is packed on a Wednesday so you know it's good! We had the gnocchi and a pizza. All superb and price was very cheap for quality and location. Highly recommend for a weeknight feed or a casual Saturday dinner.
Notevenpicky
The pizza base is really nice, all the dishes were all nice just abit boring but the one standout for me is the Marinara pasta, the seafood tastes fresh and not and too 'oceany'. Everything about that dish was really yummy! Tiramisu was too sweet for me and kinda flat, but overall pretty good food and notably very good prices!
Andrea Porcaro
Visited this local pizzeria at around 8:30pm on a Wednesday evening and the place was packed! The pizzas have a lovely home style feel to them with familiar toppings like salami, mushrooms olives and capsicum. I had the vegetarian pizza which was packed with flavour thanks to the garlic and parsley drizzle that finishes off the pizza. What I love is that they take the classics and elevate them with their thin bases, rich tomato sauce and full crusts. The only let down was that I couldn't eat the pizza with my hands as the centres were too thin and weighed down by the toppings and liquid of the sauce. Definitely coming back to try more from the menu!
Erinn Keely
Best wood fired pizza I've had, not just south of the CBD but in Melbourne completely. Delicious vegetarian options as well. I'll be back here in no time at all. Would recommend!

An old favourite of mine. Best pizza south of the river. Nice wine, too. Stefani Estate pinot noir especially good. Highly recommend for a nice, casual dinner.

Spot on. Best pizza south of the river. Get in early though because the place fills up quickly, even on weeknights. Well-priced alcohol, too. The Whitehaven sauv blanc a stand out.

Always enjoy coming down to the favorite local pizza place, value for money is amazing, delicious meals consistently impressive, wonderful staff, great wine for the price, highly recommend

I was actually blown away when first trying this place...like, not just blown away but unable to think of any other Italian place to compare this too but now always comparing other Italian places to this and you know what? They don't even come close!<br/><br/>The pasta was flawless and the pizza 🍕...wow! My partner and I shared and it was filling, crispy and super tasty! The guy Preparing the dough was working his butt off the whole night pushing out pizzas left right and centre!<br/><br/>Place was noisey but that's what you get when it's packed with people laughing, drinking and having a good time!<br/><br/>If you're gonna come here, my suggestion - pre book! Came here on a Wednesday thinking it wouldn't be that busy...it was flat out pumping with a 25 minute wait! My golly! <br/><br/>Worth a try! Can't speak of this place enough! A true local gem!<br/>

Very delicious pizza, especially the dough! So tasty and chewy. The restaurant itself was quite loud, packed and very smokey from the Woodfire oven, but wasn't unbearable.
Macinaturo
Been here last Monday for a catch up with friends and got surprised how busy they were. Very casual pizzeria with a good and fun atmosphere. We had Garlic Focacce, Formaggi and di Mare pizzas. Pretty good flavors and the dough thin and tasty.
SP
Hands down our favourite pizza place. The base is deliciously chewy and crisp and all pizzas have the perfect topping-to-dough ratio (we've pretty much tried them all). Our favourite: the salsicce and the fromaggi!
Anthony
Great place for some good quality woodfire pizza and pasta. Its a nice and cosy resteraunt with very friendly staff. The best part about it is that it is pretty cheap compared to other italian restaurants. Definatly would recommend and if you can't get a table there is always takeaway.
Petite Foodie
This restaurant full of crowded and laughter. Atmosphere is pretty good. And, Service is fast. We ordered one smoked salmon pizza and primavera spaghetti. Crust of pizza is thin but base of pizza just too wet and soft. I prefer not too wet and crispy. Spaghetti's sauce is delicious, not too salty.

A simple and happening restaurant serving fantastic pizza and pasta at a great price. This place is always heaving which is testament to its great service and food.<br/>A local fave.

Amazing food and great setting in the middle of Prahran. The prosciutto pizza and the gnocchi were both great options. Thoroughly enjoyed the night. BYO too!!

Love Fratellino, always a destination for pizza/pasta night with the family. The quality of the food has been maintained over the years much to our delight.
Christina
We have been going to Fratellions for 8 years now and have always loved it, with the exception of last night. Will probably never go back after that experience! We had a booking for 6 o'clock, we arrived 7 minutes late to be told our table had been given away without even a phone call. We were made to sit outside in the cold with 2 young children. Our young male waiter was rude and arrogant all night. We never got asked if we needed anything or order any drinks. Our food took over 55 minutes to arrive and when I asked how long it was going to take I was received with a smart and arrogant attitude for the remainder of the evening. I requested a high hair, we were given one that was disgustingly filthy, something I would never put my child in for a meal. When our food arrived one of our pizzas was burnt all around the crust and uneatable. Not a great experience at all!

If you have kids try to avoid this place! Pizza was ok ) nowhere near as good as reviews) but service was awful. To try to get a highchair was a nightmare (and they look annoyed at doing this for you) then I asked for half an avocado and was told they don't do that because they don't have it in stock. When I said they have an avocado salad on the menu the waiter said it's chopped up, when I said that was fine he said he doesn't want to ask the chef because he's scary. He then rolled his eyes, did a big breath, and said he would try. We got avo drizzled in huge amounts of oil. Then I needed to leave before the others because I had a baby needing to go to bed. When I went to pay two of them got very agro that I was paying part of the bill on card. The agro and annoyance was palpable. Rolled eyes, ignoring, hostile tones, the works. DO NOT GO HERE WITH CHILDREN. They don't want you there.

We were a bit underwhelmed by the dinner here after having read reviews. Food was ok but not spectacular (although pizza base was nice). Service however was patchy, noting that at the end of of meal we asked a staff member for a takeaway box and the bill, and after having waited circa 10min we saw that particular staff member eating their dinner having forgotten our request.

Overall score: 20/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>in 5 words: my favourite Italian in Toorak!<br/>*<br/>Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - the pasta and pizza served here are just lip smacking delicious. The spaghetti marinara was so good that I caught myself just eating the sauce. The frutti di mare had a good ratio of garnishing, olive oil, seafood and noodles. The pork sausage pizza is great, and must be eaten while it’s hot! Love the dishes so much that I often pretend to share with my husband but actually end up eating three quarters of it (don’t ever share here, you can’t help yourself)<br/>*<br/>Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - this restaurant has a basic design. Great for casual dinners. There’s many families who choose to takeaway too. <br/>*<br/>Presentation⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - The food was as delicious as it looks. Portions are also huge <br/>*<br/>Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - the pastas average $12-20 depending on type and size, while the pizzas costs $11-20. I appreciate that they let you choose the dish size, not many neighbouring italian eateries provide that option. <br/>*<br/>Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- the service here has been great so far. I come at least once a month!

Brilliant woodfired pizza - right up there with the best. Tried some pastas last night for a change - Carbonara and Di Mare - both were tasty and delicious. A nice surprise and as good as their pizzas. Always packed and pumping.

Really really impressed with this place! Honest, very down to earth place with a fun and vibrant yet slightly old school feel. Food was outstanding (we had 4 cheese pasta fettucini and a di Mare pizza). Oh!! And the antipasto board had deep fried pizza dough balls with a sprinkle of sea salt. Amazing! Lastly, all of this and a nice bottle of sav blanc for $90 odd! Such good value. Will definitely come back soon. Thank you :)

Always packed so you can tell how good they are. The pizza is nice and reasonable price, pasta is ok nothing special, must make a booking if you want to dine in.

Fratellino is a fast-paced and busy pizza restaurant and takeaway place. We dined in without a reservation and managed to get a small table. We had the Tropical and the Salsicce & Fungi. The latter was really tasty - highly recommended. The pizzas had a great base and toppings although the pizza base was a bit light in flavour. Definitely an above-average pizza joint.

Favourite place for pizza! Put dough balls on the menu. Cheap yummy wine and everything is delicious on the menu. Recommend the Hawkburn and Valcaneo. I wish they delivered!
Whats On The Grill?
Delicious wood fired pizzas on a quiet part of Malvern road. Only had a take away Carciofi pizza but have been here a few times previously. Best part is definitely the doughy bases that they make to go with the fresh ingredients. Friday night does mean a bit of a cooking time wait (65 mins) so do get your order in early. Perfect with a nice bottle of wine.

Amazing cheese pizza with a really soft fluffy pizza base. Love this place! Even the Parma and lasagna was some of the best that we'd ever tasted

Best pizza in the area. It can get busy but worth visiting for a bite to eat. Once you have a wood fire pizza you will never go back to cheap pizza again.

Visited the restaurant for a birthday. Service was really good and prompt, the food came really quickly and was delicious! Pizzas were excellent and the pastas were great as well! For a table of 9 people the food came almost all at the same time. The place was very accommodating and had a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend! Very busy as well for a week night which just shows how good the place is!

The best pizza in Melbourne! If you're not up for takeaway, get onto a reservation quickly because this place books out and for good reason! It's all about the food here (which is amazing) and the simplicity of the restaurant just makes you want to go back time and time again.

Great place and atmposphere, staff are friendly and quick service, pizza takes a bit long but that is fair if you are waiting for one of the best pizzas I ever tried in Melbourne.<br/>I recommend booking before.  And good smell. If you don't believe me go there and give it a sniff.

This place was amazing! The food was delicious and came out very quickly. We were also surprised at how delicious it was and cheap at the same time. One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. Can't wait to come back :)

As a Hawksburn local - blessed to have this as our local pizzeria. The wood-fired pizzas are amazing - bases made just minutes before, before your eyes, wonderful toppings and some great non-pizza dishes as well - we always come back for the swordfish and grilled calamari. Staff attentive and unfussed.

Always consistently amazing thin crust pizzas straight out of a wood fire oven! If you eat in, you can see the staff making the pizzas right in front of you. Pastas are always tasty and perfectly cooked. Love their grilled calamari and the option to BYO for cheap corkage. It's no wonder this place is always packed!

Staff always rude, three table where free but turned away, when asked how long for take away the said 2 hours. Better food and service down the road at 48H

The best Italian in the area. The service is brilliant, with the staff recognising us every time we go in.<br/>Food quality is fantastic, literally couldn't get fresher Woodfire pizza if you tried!<br/>The atmosphere is bright and bustling, and almost always packed.<br/>This place has become one of our weekly go-to's and for good reason!

Great food and very reasonably priced. Will definitely revisit. Five of us had an antipasto plates to share and a main each and 3 bottles and wine and we only pad $50 a head :)

We got the margherita and tropical and it was not bad. The base was a soft and just needed to stay in the oven for a little bit longer. The toppings were well balanced. <br/>Unfortunately the tiramisu is fairly average for an italian restaurant. Price was really decent, we will definitely give it another shot!

Good Italian pizza, well priced, in a cozy setting. The service is a bit inattentive at times but overall they are smiley and cordial. The only downside is that the place is small and once a large (20) group comes in it becomes a very loud place.

I often go to Fratellino for take away pizza, and it's one of the best in the area. They serve up traditional pasta and pizza dishes, done really well. The pizza dough is excellent - thin, slightly crisp, and not too chewy. For the price, this place is really hard to beat. If you order takeaway, make sure you do it early, they are busy and its normally at least a 40 minute wait!

Quality has gone down considerably since the last time I was here.<br/><br/>My pizza had a base that was too thin and had the texture of pita bread and there was barely any salami or Gorgonzola on it.<br/><br/>I hope they read this and improve because they used to be fantastic.

Fratellino is definitely my go-to local Italian restaurant of choice. There seems to be a few reviews here where people are whinging a bit about it always being busy - surely you would take that as a GOOD sign?! Yes, if you want to dine in then you will need to ring ahead and book. And sometimes you may need to be a little patient waiting for takeaway. But in my opinion the wait is most definitely worth it! Pasta is always great (I love the prawns with rosé sauce) and the pizzas are absolutely delish. I've had lots of friends go here on my recommendation and they've all raved about it afterwards. Yum yum YUM!
Steph
Place is very busy and really loud which was expected. Once seated it took the waitress a while to take our order having to call her over in the end. All pizzas were amazing and life's that there is a choice of 3 sizes. We took byo wine so was a great cheap dinner.

Dined here 10/01/16. 4 PAX. 2 pizzas - sloppy base - not good. Chicken Parma - lacked flavour. Seafood pasta - bathed in a butter moat - just not acceptable. Acoustics - can hardly hear anything.
DuckieLovesToEat
I heard good things about this place. Unfortunately for me, it is always busy and it's hard to get a table especially on peak hours. So I decided to just takeaway and I must say I was not disappointed. I would probably would like to go back in the establishment to try more of their pizza.
World In A Bite
Really good pizza place! People are always in & out for takeaway pizza... Friendly service & atmosphere... The salad was average. Gnocchi was soft & yummy. I'll definitely come back! Good date place!
