Food was amazing, very fresh and so much flavour! Very easy ordering the food online and could collect when I was on lunch break from work! Will defiantly be back again :)
2 trips to Thailand later, this is still the best Thai basil I've ever had
Located just opposite the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is right in front of the tram stop! This is definitely a hidden gem in North Melbourne.
There is quite a lot to choose from the menu and we decided to order a few dishes to share amongst the two of us. We decided on the entrees deep fried chicken ribs and crispy rice spring rolls and for mains we had the pad kha prao and the soft shell crab yellow curry.
The flavours of each dish were good and the ingredients complemented the dish really well. For entrees, the deep fried chicken ribs were crunchy and cooked well and the spring rolls were really light and crispy. They used a different batter and it made it very light. I really enjoyed the pad kha prao as they used chunks of chicken rather than chicken mince which made it very nice and the soft shell crab curry was good. I liked how the presented the dish and the soft shell crab was still crunchy when it was served. We opted for coconut rice to go with our mains and it went well together.
There is always room for dessert, so we decided on the mango sticky rice. It tasted like the ones you would get in Thailand and the balance of flavours were good. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here and would highly recommend this place if you’re after some good Thai food in the city fringe.
Lovely meal, we were caught off guard by how good it was. We ordered the pad se ew and the massaman lamb curry with a side of coconut rice. Everything was very delicious, the noodles were not too oily. The curry was very fragrant and the lamb was very tender. Highly recommended!

Great Thai lunch place located opposite the hospital. Simple and well priced.
The meals are not too spicy and taste amazing. The drinks are also well priced.
Meals came out quickly even when full house .
The massam lamb was done to perfection.
Cute restaurant, friendly staff, and yummy food in North Melbourne. Every dish we had was tasty, only thing I would say is that i was expecting and craving a bit more spice from Thai- style food, everything was very mild if not non-existent in spice.
My favourite was the Pad See Ew which we had with crispy pork belly, yumm! One of the best Thai noodle dishes I’ve had.
Would happily visit again

Dishes we had: Chive pancake dumplings, Sago balls, Chinese broccoli with crispy pork, Massaman curry lamb, Pad kee mao chicken, coconut dumplings and ice cream
The highlight of our meal: the chinese brocolli with crispy pork was amazing. The chive pancake is also really good, it's hard to find a good one in Melbourne. The coconut dumplings is also a must try.
Service: The owner is lovely, service was fast and friendly.
Ambience: Cool vibe with some authentic Thai twist.

We got:
Chicken pad thai noodles, vegetarian spring rolls, fish cakes and jungle curry and vegetarian Thai omelette
and our favourite was:
the pad thai and fish cakes
while the others were still very much delightful.
One of the best lunch options around the area. They have plenty of varieties for the vegetarians in our group which we really appreciate.
I had dinner here recently and I had such a pleasant experience. We were greeted as soon as we came in. The venue was quite small but they do have a dining space upstairs, as well as a few outdoor seating. For starters, we ordered the Soft Shell Crab and the Fried Chicken. Good size portion for starters and I loved the Soft Shell Crab, it was salty, crunchy and delicious. For mains, we ordered the Prawns Jungle Curry and the Beef Garlic, Pepper and Soy Stir-fry with the side of coconut rice. My favourite dish of the night was definitely the Beef Garlic, Pepper and Soy Stir-fry. It was very rich and flavoursome! The beef was super tender and the portion is very generous. The vegetables were still a bit crunchy, I loved the mix of textures in this dish. To end the night, we had the Coconut Dumpling with Mango ice cream and the Mango Sticky Rice dessert. The Mango ice cream was super rich and it added a different dimension of flavour to the coconut dumplings. But my favourite dessert would be the Mango sticky rice. It came with mango slices, which I absolutely love. The sticky rice was a nice consistency and it went super well with the fresh mango slices.
Overall, I had a really great night. I took a tram from the CBD, so this place was super easy to get to. Definitely should check this place out if you're in the area.
Mum Mum delivers dishes full of flavour. I highly recommend the pork dumplings, chicken and cashew stir fry and lemongrass beef. I will definitely be back!
First time here and we tried 2 meals from the “Afternoon Delights” Lunch menu.
We shared the Chicken Pad Thai Noodles and the Cashew Chicken with Rice.
Both were very tasty and presented nicely.
Service was quick and the ladies were extremely friendly with lots of smiles to lift your mood.
Only negative thing I could find is the restaurant needs a little sprucing up, but for the price it’s great for a casual lunch.
Would definitely come back again it was very enjoyable.
Loved my experience here, really fast and friendly service. I had the Vegetarian Pad Thai - it was really well made and delicious! Looking forward to returning to try more dishes soon 😊
really like the pad thai. the serving is large and it's really fresh! the owner is also very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back!
I love this place. They have delicious food and great customer service. What else can you ask for. Always go back here as they don't disappoint.
Came here for a work lunch and was very impressed. Everything we ordered was delicious with nice fresh vegies, lean meat and brown rice on request. The food came out quickly, the service was super friendly, and despite the fact there were 14 of us and the "no split bills" sign they kindly split the bill for us without hesitation. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I always go somewhere twice before giving it 5!
In terms of dishes, between us we ordered the cashew chicken and basil chicken stir fries, the pork belly with chinese broccoli and the pad thai, all of which were great :)
Located on Flemington Road, just north of Grattan Street. The building next door is currently undergoing renovations so I almost missed it!
Lunch service is quick which is exactly what we needed. Seats approximately 20-25 at full capacity. We got in early when it was still empty, but it filled up pretty quickly, so I suggest get in early if you’re coming in a group!
I ordered the basil chicken stir fry with rice, and the others had chicken pad Thai.
I really enjoyed my dish, good flavours, generous chicken.
The pad Thai had heaps of chicken and tofu!
Will be back 👍🏼
You know there are a lot of times where I check Zomato on new places to eat and the overall rating for the restaurant is sometimes a little far from the truth and I leave confused and pissed on why I just went there.
Happy to say this place is definitely not one of them! 😁
We ordered the fish, chicken wings and the Tom yum soup and they were all fantastic!
You must try the chicken wings they are one of the best I’ve tried!
Food was prepared pretty quickly too!
Will definitely eat here again !
Regular lunch time spot & never fails to impress. Try the jungle beef. Pork & pad Thai are other favourited. Good service, reasonably priced. Good location
went here for a weekday lunch. it was so quite and the waiter happily greeted me.
tried the Stir Fry Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli. it comes with a steamed rice. it tastes good. rich and mild flavor. it doesn't tastes spicy at all, which is a down side for me because I like spicy foods. generous portion.
Great little place. Opposite the RWH, so parking is a challenge. Only a few tables, but we managed to get one. Good menu, lots of choices & very reasonable prices. Pad Thai was excellent, green curry good. Coconut dumplings were really good, but accompanying coconut ice cream tasted like vanilla with shredded coconut mixed in. Service was excellent, and we’ve never had food arrive so quickly after ordering.
Pretty happy with the Pad Thai, green curry beef and especially the hor joi. Staff was very accommodating with the Thai tea specification of less sugar. Nice ambience with ample of 2P parking nearby. Would recommend. 👍🏼
Nice south east Asian cuisine. Fairly fast for lunch time. Small restaurant so it can get busy but generally don't need to book. Recommend the Pad Thai - tasty and good serving size for $13.
Yummo on aprouch to front of shop it didn't look my sort of place but surprising as u walk in its like u r greeted by a cute smile .

Had the chicken green curry and Pad Thai - amazing food and priced reasonably! I liked how many different ingredients were actually in the dishes - the veggie:meat ratio in the curry was great (often there's more meat and soup in curries from other restaurants!) and the Pad Thai had great amount of prawn, nuts and flavour!
Mum Mum is a tidy, no frills operation that The Dear Luncher recently encountered. The Dear Luncher sat down for a spot of lunch and was in and out in 15 minutes. Efficient. The lemongrass beef stir fry was humble and satisfying.
Fast, tasty lunch stop for this busy part of North Melbourne.
Food ordered:
Crispy lemon chicken with rice and a Thai milk tea (can't resist, so refreshing!). These crispy chicken ribs had a nice crunch and just the right seasoning. I assume it's a popular dish based on how quickly it arrived. It was served with a side of a tangy sweet chilli type sauce - I'll admit I wasn't wowed by the flavour and would have like a lighter, less sticky, less sweet sauce for this - but overall it added a tangy bite. The milk tea was great, not overly sweetened like some I've had and washes down any food.
Ambience:
Lunch time was busy. It everyone was seated and moving quickly. The staff were friendly and took my order quickly. There is also upstairs seating so it seems they don't get overcrowded.
I'm not in the area too often - but from the looks of it the chicken fried rice and pad Thai are very popular. So if you decide to stop in go ahead and try those.
Mamma mamma, I mean Mum Mum was the venue for our lunch today 😊.
We ordered a Pad Thai and a fresh Basil chicken Stir Fry 😋. Both dishes arrived in less than 10 minutes, very ideal as we were on a tight schedule. It was full of flavour, tasted fresh and it had the right punch. The stir fry was on the salty side but it tasted good 😅
Thank you for having us 😘 we will be back 👍
Really nice place. Staff are really friendly, and the food is good and reasonably priced. Portions are VERY generous. We eat here and get takeways, both are good - although it is hard to package a pad thai to look appealing in a takeway box I guess. Still tastes amazing! Highly recommend.
Mum mum is located on Flemington Rd , just opposite Royal Women hospital. It is quite a small cafe and wasn't too busy on Thursday night. We ordered prawn Pad Thai, massamam lamb curry, coconut rice and cold Thai tea to share. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The Pad Thai was really delicious served with 4 big prawns. The slow cooked lamb in the curry was however a bit tough and the curry was on the sweeter side. A lso, it is a bit uncommon to find pineapple and cucumbers in Massamam curry and there was too much onions in the curry. Overall, this is still a nice Thai cafe and will return in the future.
Great little place in an unlikely location! Cheerful service, and tasty tasty food at good prices. The cashew stir fry and pad thai are delicious, and the coconut rice is fragrant but not too heavy. The sago dumplings are an interesting starter, but probably would go with normal dumplings next time. Good serving sizes for the price!
Really good taste and reasonable price
Nice place to dinner with friends
Unique Thai food amazes us
Strongly recommend the Pad Thai Noodles
BTW plates are beautiful
Great service, delicious food and generous servings. We ordered banquet A, the food came out promptly without feeling rushed, we lingered awhile between mains and dessert, and as a result really enjoyed the freshness of mango ice-cream. Would definitely return.
I have been to my fair share of Thai restaurants are Melbourne and this is by far the second best one so far. The service to order is solid, seats are a lil hard for the ol booty but y'all can't complain when that is the worst of it. Selection of beers is quality, my pork belly wasn't dry... and if you order it off ubereats like some people who rate on here then STFU of course it is not as good as it could be.
Other food :
Cashew Chicken 10/10
Roti 8/10
Omelette 8/10
Green Curry 7.5 /10
Do yourself a favour - undo a belt buckle and roll down there for a feed
Had a take away of vegetable spring rolls and chicken Pad Thai.
Proportions were huge! Especially when considering the price. Food was very tasty, the spring rolls were quite unique in flavour and the Pad Thai was really good. However, both were a bit too oily.
Ordered the Veg Massaman curry and roti bread with satay sauce. This was such a delicious meal, I am very happy I tried it through Uber Eats.
The only downside was the curry was a little too sweet. I would order from here again, I am also looking forward to trying more items on the menu.
Had some serious pad Thai cravings and Mum Mum was on the uber eats list. Chicken pad Thai was delicious, a very generous portion packed with chicken and tofu although a tad on the oily side. The duck red curry was excellent, rich and creamy with tender juicy duck slices. Would definitely order the duck red curry again, or the pad Thai, or any other dish! Cheap and tasty.
My goodness!! Ordered the lemongrass veggie stir fry with a large serve of coconut rice, blown away. Might just be one of the best meal's I've ever had! The flavours were just divine, cooked to perfection, and the serving size was so much more generous than most places tend to do.
They also specifically stated on the receipt that there was no fish or oyster sauce, which I appreciated as I am vegan and totally forgot that these could even be possibly additions to the dish.
I'm a regular diner here at it never fails me! The pad thai is out of this world and pairing it with the pork belly is the best combination. But the best thing by far is the soft shell crab starter dish! I could have so many of them to myself :)
Quick jungle curry on a Friday, a delicious filling serve that was deceptive as I initially thought it looked small. I was wrong as I struggled to eat it all. A medium chilli strength that really hit the spot.
Nice place, bit small but its ok. Service is lovely and friendly
Food is very good and well served
Prices are very reasonable
This place needs to go bigger to do more !
Excellent one!
Pretty tasty, Thai fusion menu located in a very peculiar location.
The staff are overly friendly and food's ready in a jiffy, whether dining in or taking away.
Most of the food's flavoursome and reasonably priced, the Sukiyaki Noodles in particular.
An easy option for quick eats.
This is my favourite Thai food place outside of Thailand. I love the papaya salad with yummy chicken ribs. The curries are great too, so is the Roti bread. I get take away here once a week it's typically ready within fifteen and the staff is always very friendly.
Lovely people and food. A great Thai local! Reasonable prices and quality food. The pork belly with greens is our favourite. Thank you to all at Mum Mum!
I used to live 5 mins away from here and I never came once! I was missing out. I now live further away but I've been back several times since.
My absolute favourite dish here is the stir fried Chinese broccoli with pork belly. The. Best. Dish. But now that I know how to make it, I actually prefer mine better. The last time I went, the pork belly was hard and chewy, not crispy. 4/5
We also had the following:
1) papaya salad: Papaya salad was ok, tad too saucy though ... 3/5
2) prawn dumplings: nice but nothing special. 4/5
3) Gyoza type dumplings: there's were very nice. 4/5.
4) vegetarian cashew nut stir fry: very fragrant and yummy. Will order again. 5/5
5) vegetarian massaman curry: nice curry but the consistency of the potato was a bit strange. Some were very soft and some were hard. 4/5
6) chicken jungle curry: very watery curry, not what I expected and a bit bland. 2/5
7) soft shell crab: very nice but tasted a little bitter. 4/5
Dishes can be a hit and miss but it is still my favourite Thai restaurant in North Melbourne.
Tasty fresh food, have eaten in once (service was great). Have ordered takeaway a few times, always delicious and fast. Staff are lovely, online ordering system is easy.
Driven past it so many times but hadn't thought to go in until a friend took me there. Was surprised how yummy it was! Lots of flavour & very fresh
My work friends and I have made this a regular place to have lunch on a Friday. The service is nice and cheery. The food is a bit hit and miss. Most of the time it is lovely but there have bee some instances where it has been a little bit too salty/peppery. My friend always orders the Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly. In my opinion, the pork that is served is always too overcook and quite tough. I tried the dish once or twice and my jaw felt so tired by the end of lunch!
Apart from that, the food and service is good. There are a few things I can pick at but nothing that would make me think twice about not coming back. Give it a go! Nice cheap option too!
Randomly picked to go here as a group of four to catch up over dinner. Had the vegetarian banquet for $30 and definitely got our money's worth in the quantity and portions of food. The entree included curry puffs and wontons, both of which I enjoyed. The Pad Thai was tasty but wasn't anything special and the two stir fries were alright. The Masaman curry was probably my favourite out of the lot and we finished off with some ice cream - I had the mango flavoured one which was good.
The place does have a menu with a pretty impressive variety of foods, and is worth going back to just to try something different. Overall, none of the dishes really especially stood out though.
Had a lovely dinner here with 4 friends. We ordered the vegetarian banquet which was more than enough for all of us!! Entree was delicious light pastries and chive dumplings (I didn't like the dumplings). Main was noodles and a variety of stirfry with rice. Loved the noodles but didn't enjoy the lemongrass veggies. Dessert was icecream - I had the coconut which was ok. Food was good but I probably wouldn't go back to try it again. We picked this place as wanted to meet prior to a nightshift and it's opposite work.
I was excited to be relocated to North Melbourne again and have their delicious Pad Thai. Its great to see that its still booming and even busier than I rememeber. Although there was a little wait for lunch, I appreciated the heads up for wait time and staff were still smiling through service. An upbeat vibe serving such flavoursome fresh food, Mum Mum always lives up.
Good place for a quick lunch. Had the grilled chicken ribs with rice which was different for a change and delicious... $9 aswell. I'll be back
Hidden Gem!. Situated in an unlikely spot on Flemington Road in North Melbourne lies a hidden gem! Cute little place, with friendly staff and amazing food - it's everything you could ask for in a neighbourhood restaurant!
We had the fried chicken with a salt and pepper spice as a starter- and it was incredible! Highly recommend. For main we ordered a green curry and pad thai - both of which were also very delicious. BYO is a steal at $3 corkage - PER BOTTLE (not per person guys - get on it!)
All in all - a great experience, and I will definitely be back - it's great to finally find somewhere that does good thai in the area!
Delightful little hideaway restaurant
Food is delicious, service devine. Definite favourite when I next stay in North Melbourne. Walking distance from The Larwill / RCH. Reasonably priced too.
Delicious, authentic, great value for money. Tried the Chinese broccoli and pork belly, pad Thai and coconut rice. Food was deliciously authentic and reminded me of trips to Bangkok. Portion sizes were quite large so there was more than enough for four serves. A word of warning - I ordered online and could select between very mild, mild, hot and very hot. I picked "hot" and it was hot indeed with pieces of birds eye chilli (which I didn't mind) but I think it would definitely be too spicy for some! The staff were really friendly too!
The food was absolutely delicious! Amazing service too. We will definitely be going back for more!!
Yummo!. Bought the soft-shelled crab curry to takeaway.... unbelievable! Possibly the tastiest Thai dish I've ever eaten.
Delicious, cheap and quick.. A fantastic little place with friendly, smiling staff. The food is delicious, fresh and quick to come to the table. I ordered the Cashew Chicken which was fresh & full of flavour. Plenty of vegetarian and GF options to choose from.
Great for a Sunday group dinner. I am a week late in writing this review but I liked the fact that we could all talk without having to fight over loud music. The menu is extensive. Although I only had the masaman curry I would have to say I have had better, however, it wouldn't put me off from returning to this cosy little restaurant and trying another dish next time. I still recommend giving it a go. The service was good. Not intrusive.
Tasty street food. Found this spot hiding near my house and had to try it out. Friendly service, good food at a reasonable price, give it a crack!!
Try the Lamb!. Cheap Asian food with a large variety. Nice staff and good food.
Delicious food and super friendly!
Very Impressed. I am Vegan and its great to see restaurants accommodating for this. I had the Jungle Tofu Curry and despite the omission of fish sauce, was quite impressive with flavours and the kick of spice I love. Our Chive Pancakes were beautiful with a nice crisp. My husband would've loved some wine with his meal, but I'm told by the gorgeous owner they will soon be licensed. I look forward to returning.
Add some pork to my belly please. Went here for a quick lunch of Chinese broccoli and pork belly, this dish is a home run! Well spiced, crispy skinned pork, fresh veg. Not many places use fresh veg like this so it's great to see. I am addicted to this dish, don't mind putting on some extra pork to my belly for it! Mate had the fried chicken which he says is definitely worth a go!
Had the BBQ Lamb here and just had to share how delicious it was. Cooked to absolute perfection, I'm salivating thinking about it. The Mrs had their Chinese Broccoli with Pork Belly and she loved it too. Looking forward to trying other menu items.
Absolutely delicious! The chive pancakes were amazing. So many options for gluten free and vegos! The staff were very friendly. I highly recommend and can't wait til I'm back in the neighbourhood for some more!
Taste explosion. I received a menu from Mum Mum in my letterbox last week and me and my 2 housemates decided to visit.
Walking into Mum Mum we were greeted with a great trendy/relaxed vibe that is exactly what we like.
We already knew what we were going to order before we left our apartment - lamb cutlets, Chinese broccoli with pork belly and yellow pork curry.
My housemates and I aren't exactly quiet types. We tend to talk an abundance of garbage between the three of us, but when we were eating our meals it was just complete silence.
I had the yellow pork curry. The best words I can use to describe this dish is delicious, delicious, delicious!
My friends were in complete agreement with their dishes.
As a student I want to make sure that when I dine out I'm getting value for money. At Mum Mum there is no doubt I did.
The taste of the food for the price I paid definitely means I'll be coming back.
Thank you Mum Mum for putting some wow in my food, we love you.
Awesome Tomato noodles, especially for a student on a budget!!
Love love love this place! Very cool ambience and menu. I had the Jungle curry with chicken as a main, definite wow factor for spice and taste. Shared some entrees with mates, will be back for the soft shell crab and chive pancakes.
Just beautiful. Thank you for opening near my work Mum mum. Ive been here several times since opened, its always packed for lunch. I've had the Chinese broccoli and mussaman lamb, both beautiful and flavoursome. Am now a regular!
Promising. I've been to Mum Mum twice now. The menu is interesting, and most people should find something to interest them. The service is friendly and pretty efficient, and eating in is quite pleasant. Take-away service is quick and easy. Serving sizes are ample, and pricing is OK for this kind of thing. I'm a bit stuck as to whether the flavours are subtle or underwhelming. Having tried it twice, I'm going to go with underwhelming. I think perhaps the chef/s could be a bit more adventurous in their use of spicing and flavouring. I had a beef with lemongrass dish today that promised a lot but was only average in terms of flavour, and a pad thai dish last week that was much the same. Having said all of that, I'm pretty confident that with some feedback it will improve and be a great place to get good food. Encourage them!
I have eaten at Mum Mum many times and their food and service is always consistently excellent.
My go-tos on the menu are always the soft shell crab, salt and pepper chicken ribs, crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli and rice to soak up all the delicious gravy from the pork/kailan. But they have plenty of other delicious dishes too, I like the pad Thai alot, and their curries are good too, especially the green curry and jungle curry.
In fact, I love the soft shell crab so much that I would get it as pre-lockdown meal whenever a new lockdown was called in Melb (Mum Mum stayed closed during the lockdowns so I knew I needed to get my fix before they did).
Their salt and pepper chicken stays crunchy even when cold (I've eaten it straight out of the fridge many times the next day) bit also reheats beautifully.
I 100% recommend giving this family-run restaurant a go.
Food is ridiculously good! Great and attentive service, especially for vegetarians. Really thorough on what is okay and not, e.g. fish sauce, oyster sauce, egg, etc. which I really appreciated because some restaurants are a bit cheeky and label meals vegetarian when there's fish or other meat derived products used and you'd never know. Love the paper bag as takeaway and the super cute presentation and care of even the cutlery. Quick service, FOH/manager is super on the ball.
Great food, very cozy place with a nice ambience. Service was good too! We ordered the veggie fried rice and green curry 😍
Delicious food, and great hospitality! Loved that the menu was very clear for vegetarian and vegan options. Thank you for a great evening!
Amazing Thai! Came here with a group of friends ad we tried a whole bunch of entrees and mains, everyone had a drink or two and the bill was reasonable. Some of the dishes included pad Thai, pork belly stir fry, a mussaman curry, roti and peanut sauce, pork dumplings and some curry puffs, really good food. Looking forward to owing back very soon
Absolutely love Mum Mum. Service is on point, non intrusive and friendly. Food, OMG incredible!!!
Incredible food, incredible service. Started with the chicken ribs, fish cakes and fried gyoza. Impossible to pick a favourite. Had green curry and red curry for mains. Perfect.
Fast / fabulous well priced food. Staff efficient & helpful. Yum
