The Nixon offer generously portioned serving sizes. A parma literally had 2 decent size parma for one serve. Fish and chips were also very nice.
Plenty of seats inside and outside.
Did I mention the portions are real generous ?
A nice spot for a quick drink before dinner, and busy with the after work crowd; the Nixon Hotel in Docklands has a fantastic corner location and a nice outdoor area for good weather.
Service was efficient and friendly, and our drinks were really good. The bar seems to stock the general pub staples, and hubby was happy as there were several tvs playing sport. It had a pretty good atmosphere and a relaxed vibe; so all in all, not a bad pub.
An excellent place to have a beer or three with your mates after work. The service is super fast, quite reasonably priced and the finger food is just yum.
Clincher: left my wallet on the table in a state of stupor. Rushed back and they had it waiting for me. No wonder they have me as a customer for life!
It’s been some years since I frequented the Nixon and it’s still churning out high quality chicken Parmas at a rapid pace. We turned up prior to the footy tonight and the place was heaving with supporters so much so we had to get on a waiting list. Roughly 15 minutes later we were seated and we ordered swiftly. The parma was a generous serving although slightly less generous on the tomato sauce. Either way it was enjoyable and my husband was also very impressed with the onion rings. Great atmosphere before a game

The Nixon is a pub conveniently located quite close to Etihad Stadium perfect for a pre or post footy feed. I popped in for a lunchtime steak sandwich with a colleague who was saddened by a recent breakup because I firmly believe parmas cure all.
Sadly she's still upset but not on account of the parma which looked extremely delicious. My steak sandwich was yummy but I found the atmosphere a little lacking. A typical traditional pub style set up which is not really my thing but still a good spot to watch the game
We had fish and chips with salad for lunch last week as it was close to work and we wanted something quick. The fish was well seasoned and it came with homemade tartare sauce. The chips were very crispy, service was good too. It offers a very standard pub style menu and worth a visit if you are around Docklands.
Great servings and terrific service complimenting excellent quality meals in a relaxed atmosphere that will have you calling this venue a regular local in no time. The porterhouse steak was cooked well (I like mine medium, and that's exactly how it was delivered), with a nice smokey tinge/flavour embedded into the steak, topped with a flavoursome pepper sauce (just the right amount) and accompanied with the right amount of side salad. And, to top it off, half price Monday for the steak - bonus!! 👍🏻
The only negatives I personally found were related to the ambience - slightly cold (air conditioning was up probably just a bit too high, but not a major issue), and noise from conversation at the bar did carry through the venue a bit, but you could get a seat in the dining area that avoided that quite well.
Otherwise, this venue is definitely worth a visit, especially with respect to decent value meals throughout the week - a different special each night. 😃
Service is authentic and unpretentious. Food is speedy, tasty and great value. Go in with low expectations and you won't be disappointed. Perfect for a drink before a game at Etihad or an after-work sesh.
Had the best steak ever on Monday night !!!! All their steaks are half price on Mondays so i went the top tier and had the Eye Fillet. Decent size, cooked to perfection, bang on pub-style pepper sauce and a sick amount of chips. I was one very happy fella. The staff are friendly too which is kinda nice to see in the city. They were happy to chat and have a yarn instead of just head down work work work without a smile. Nice touch.
Will be back for sure. The burgers have defo caught my eye.
Convenient meeting pub in docklands for after work beers, near to southern cross. Prices are good, there's sport on the TVs, indoor and outdoor seating- but it's nothing fancy.

Had a Parma here before the cricket next door at Etihad stadium. Parma was a good size with healthy serving of chips but the same a few doors up at platform 28 was probably better.

Lunched today at 11:30am at the Nixon Hotel & chose their Chicken Parma at $22.90 followed by a simple dessert of Ice Cream & Strawberries for $6. The Parma was what I expected, a standard (nothing special) pub Parma, although being fair it didn't have burnt edges and it was served steaming hot and within 15 minutes of ordering. The ice cream & strawberries were nice although I should have ordered a double serve (it did come from the kids menu). Service provision was good & the gent who served me was polite & friendly.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 3.5/5, Service Provision 4.5/5, Will I return: No, it's a long way to go for a very average overall meal and I've had better Parmas elsewhere.

Food is good, but not great. Just standard pub fare with typically large serving sizes. Service is average. I wouldn't come here if it wasn't so close to my work and even then, I don't go all that often.
Who went - 2 friends
When - Monday dinner
Specials - $15 steak night
Ambience - Good. They have a pub section & restaurant section. There's some outside seating as well with heaters.
Damages - $37.50 (super cheap with the specials)
Recommended - YES
Order
Rump Steak - 4.5/5 - The 400gm steak came with fries, salad & a pot of beer (you could choose between house beer/wine/soft drink). For $15 this was a steal. I asked for my steak to be well done accompanied by peppercorn sauce. It was cooked beautifully & l loved the sauce. Salad was crispy & refreshing. Fries were quite good too but I hope they hadn't put them under the steak since few of them were soggy by the time it arrived us. Overall highly recommended, I wouldn't mind paying full price for this.
Arancini - 5/5 - Crispy with a good zucchini filling. It was the first time we tried it so were impressed.
Tried a South Australian wine for $9.5 which was good. The servers were very polite. Even though it was crowded the food came out quickly & it was hot too. The only downside being the location is docklands lol.
Highly recommended! Go for it.
UPDATE
We went again on a Tuesday to try thei Chicken Parma specials at $15. The service was a little slow even though the place wasn't half full as last time.
Chicken Parma Aussie & Mexicana - 3.5/5 - As before the chips & salad were great but the Parmas failed to impress. Still Mexicana was a tad bit better than Aussie. The waitress forgot our drinks & after waiting 5 minutes we asked another one to get them for us. Beer included in specials was good but give the Cider a miss!
Maybe they function better under pressure during full house? Or maybe the servers were tired because we went at 7.45pm! Still the place is recommended.
Our after work fave!! Daily Happy Hour is a winner. Highly recommend the Open Steak Sandwich, it's a good option if you can't make up your mind. We book our group in the restaurant area, then move to the bar area to carry on. Affordable & fun.
Large parmas and decent steak specials on the moste holy of all nights...Trivia Nights!
I really enjoy coming down for Trivia (the Trivia Master I've seen a couple of times is quality) and have literally eaten nothing else except for the above. I was first goaded down here by the promise of a parma so large I'd have trouble finishing. While that was an outright exaggeration (I finish everything), that parma sure is damn tasty.
Bit of a boring breakfast menu but in their defense it's more of a pub and not a cafe. Still....for a standard breakfast menu it's exceptional value and very generous portions.
Decent pub meals with generous portions, the Parma is huge and I struggle to finish it all. They do a regular trivia night with Parma and steak specials, $20 including beer, wine or soft drink. Meals come out very quickly and service is good.
Came here for dinner and the place was modern and friendly. Serving size was large but I would rather leave very full than still wanting more food. Also the food menu was very accommodating to someone who is a very fussy eater! Pretty satisfied with my meal!
Parmas here are huge and tasty, good pub vibe and very friendly staff. I've also had the blue swimmer crab tagliatelle which great. The serving was quite large also and so it got bit too much for me because there was too much pasta and not so much of other ingredients which I anticipated.
Came here recently for a work lunch. Staff were very attentive and the $15 pasta lunch special with included drink was great value. Serving size was generous and the staff had no issue with splitting the bill. The venue was a bit loud, but otherwise this was a great experience.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of the Nixon. Some good, some bad, some middling. It was a good start - making the booking was easy. The ambience was fine, with a table next to the window and the city lights in the background. The waitress was excellent. The entrée wasn't a good start, though. The Dips Plate had what tasted like store-bought dip and roti - I could have wandered past Woolies and done the same thing in about a minute. The problem with a poor entrée is that it gets things off on the wrong foot, and places should take more care with them. My mains was a far better proposition: Eye Fillet - Char grilled, cooked to your liking and served on a bed of creamy potato mash with a garlic roasted crumbed mushroom, broccolini and finished in a red currant jus It was excellent. Beautifully cooked (medium-rare) meat, and everything else with it was likewise. The Jus and the mushroom were very tasty and well prepared. Cha had the Porterhouse St

Pleasant Food and Good Service. Grabbed a bite here tonight with friends. It wasn't our original plan to eat here but it just turned out that way - you know how these things happen! The food was actually pretty good. No-one in our group had any complaints. Serving sizes were substantial, food quality was good, preparation and cooking was also good and the service was friendly and efficient. All in all a decent meal at a decent price.
Great parma. Really enjoyed the chicken parma here - it was huge, the chicken breast was quality and the batter was really, really crunchy. The only downside was the awful napoli sauce in the dish which tasted like canned tomato soup (exactly how ParmaDaze described it) BUT this was easily overlooked because the cheese was fantastic! Salad was boring, but who really cares about salad in a parma dish. Chips were quite good too. Overall a great, filling dish.
Looks after vegetarians. Went for their $15 lunch and drink special but disappointed to find no vegetarian option. Asked if I could substitute a veggo dish from the main menu and was told yes with the mushroom risotto recommended. I agreed to that and was then told a couple of minutes later that it contained beef stock. The chef then offered to create one from scratch for me with veggie stock.
Fantastic service, really appreciated their honesty and flexibility - and the risotto was great.
They also have happy hour from 5-7 each week night and Thursday night trivia. It's a good pub in the middle of the Docklands wasteland.
Tucked away close to Etihad in the Docklands precinct lies the surpringly good Nixon. With amazing early week specials such as $15 porterhouse with (beer/wine/soft) drink on Mondays and $15 Parma with drink on Tuesdays. Had a Fabulous steak with prompt service (in the TAB section). If you want a simple, well priced, quick pub meal head to Nixon!
On a Wednesday night the place was deserted but the outdoor heaters drew us in. After a drink we moved inside to the restaurant area - quite a good looking place. We ordered soon after with the help of a friendly waitress. I had the shanks with mash, beans and sweet potato crisps. It came with 2 good sized shanks that were very tender and the whole dish was a winner. We also had the duck confit that was a special and once again presentation was good and it tasted great. Definitely a top spot for a bite to eat with no fuss service and quality food. Good spot for a pre or post footy feed.
Average. Had lunch here recently. The dining space was empty but that meant we had attentive service. I had the fish and chips - they tasted ok but a little too oily which left me feeling not so good for the rest of the day.
Good service, Good food, Good setting.. I liked it, I had the chicken ceaser salad and it was a generous portion and came out in about 15 minutes with two other meals on a quiet night. The other two guests also enjoyed their meals. I would perhaps suggest some more things to look at in the fine dining area relating to the culture of the restaurant because the view outside, of etihad and such, whilst decent, is not that great.
I'm an economist and I went there using a scoopon. Advice to the management - Scoopons and similar generally won't help mid to high range restaurants (I presume) because very few guests will be back, the buyers are assumed to be price conscious bargain hunters in most cases - they are probably not a reflective sample of society at large, while the Nixon has some inexpensive meals, they are still probably above the price preferences of most scoopon clientelle. I would be likely to return at some stage however.
Great friendly attentive service. Nice casual menu, great place for a mid week meal.
Clean, Modern Gastropub. Good menu with quality Bistro style food, attentive staff, inventive specials and a fabulous offering of Spirits in the Bar area. Trivia on Thursday nights also!
Surprising find in Docklands. Had a weekday lunch in the restaurant. Service was good. Menu was mainly pub fare made fancy but there were some great things also. The pork belly in particular was excellent. Bit disappointed by the wagyu steak. Keep an eye out for the specials board.
Love it love it love it. Great restaurant, excellent every time i go. fabulous service, yummy dishes and great ambience.
Great food, awesome facilities, expensive water - wasnt expecting that on the bill ;-)
Fantastic menu and great atmosphere; the BEST oysters in Melbourne!
Ahh- The Nixon Hotel. Love the Carlton Tank beer they serve there. Go out of my way to visit whenever I'm in Melbourne. Had a couple of starters and a meal before heading over to see Collingwood FC play at Marvel Stadium. Highly recommended.
We had lunch at The Nixon Hotel on the 22nd December. The meals were impressive! Hats off to the staff who served us. They were friendly and attentive. Although the place was crowded, the service was terrific. The chef made the meals to a high standard. With a wide range of options on the menu, we will return to the Nixon hotel again.
There are many TVs with sport on. I'm not that in to sports myself but there are many places to sit if you aren't interested. There is a large range of beers on offer. The service is quick and friendly. The food is very good value for the portion size and the quality doesn't suffer.
Helpful staff. Well stocked bar and I liked the pub food. They really need to clean their outdoor tables though. Touch the wrong place on the table while trying to shift the tables and you will come away with your hand coated in webs and dust.
