Definitely the best place to go in Melbourne for naan! Had the best customer service today at the RMIT arcade restaurant! Really happy with my food today, absolutely superb and I can't stress enough how amazing the customer service is today - I don't know whether you guys got a new employee or not but we were served by the friendliest lady today! Keep it up!!
Value for money! Only $7.50 for a full meal - all you can eat wholesome vegetarian food right in the heart of the city!
The best Indian food I’ve had outside of India. You must try it!
Om catered our all vegan event. The food was delicious, everyone loved it! Would have them cater an event again :)
Beautiful authentic Indian meals. Very generous serves & great value for money
$6.50 all you can eat and $7 take away.... the food is beautiful and rich in flavor as well as the atmosphere relaxing. It's not easy to please a vegan, well done Om Vegetarian :D
Yummy worthy
Neat and clean place
friendly staff
Food is always good at this place. Generous with the naan and the mango lassi is amazing!
Best value Vegetarian/Vegan meal in the city
Best value meal around. They have an all you can eat thali which you can refill as many times as you want for $7.50. It has one lentil curry, Chickpea curry and a potato curry with rice and naan. They come out with a naan basket to top you up and if you want more curry you just take it to the counter. I've tried other meals as well such as the more richer curries like eggplant masala, paneer Makhani and jackfruit curry. It's hard to fault this place as food tastes good and priced very fairly.
I have been going to the 2 CBD locations for many years now, I have always had the thali meals every time and loved it. The other night I ordered from their brand new St Albans locations via Uber Eats. Such amazingly delicious food and extremely well priced. I couldn’t recommend them anymore. One of the best dinners I’ve ever had😃❤️
Cheapest vegetarian food available in whole of Melbourne. I eat here twice a week because it is healthy cheap and tasty.
Not a bug fan of their naan but can’t complain as there is no competition that gives food at this price point.
Great bargain with unlimited refill of lentil-based curry, vegetable-based curry, rice and naan bread.
I fell in LOVE with their naan bread!! It was absolutely delicious and if you’re a bread lover, you’ll love this never ending supply of naan here.
The lentil-based curry was tasty, however, the vegetable-based was quite different and had a peculiar taste to it. For $7.50, it is extremely cheap for a nice meal after work or uni.
We also ordered a samosa ($2) and it was crispy, tasty and the sweet sauce on the side was a perfect match for it. I reckon it could’ve been spicier but it was still pleasant.
The place was small and cosy and the waitress was super patient and lovely. Always serving with a beautiful smile on her face.
We’ll definitely return when we feel like a cheap meal again.
Visited this restaurant for lunch. Ordered the thali meal. The roti, curries were served hot in few minutes. Curries were simple and tasted great. For the price of AUD.7.5, food is good value for money. I highly recommend this place and if you are a vegetarian, you will like it for sure.
TLDR:
* 10/10
* Food excellent+healthy
* Power-sockets for laptops
* VIC free Wifi
I discovered this place completely by accident when looking for a place to eat with power-sockets. My god the food in this place is outstanding! The Dahl I had was full of spices and was obviously made with love and a presumably excellent vegetable stock. Food is salty. And for $7.50! 10/10 will come here when I am in Melbourne again
Looking for vegetarian options in Indian , around CBD and came across this place. The restaurant was very calm and pleasant. Ordered a thali with Naans, Curries and Rice. The food was very tasty and fresh.
Finally had a mango lassi but it was very chilled to my taste.
In conclusion, a good place to try if you are looking for affordable vegetarian options.
We've always wanted to try the "all you can eat Indian" concept, and it just so happens to be that we stumbled upon this little gem. So we thought, why not give it a shot.
Super good value with unlimited re-fills (for food). We downed two plates each. It's a fast in and out, but we went on a quieter weekend so we could just chill as well. The place has a quite nice and warm atmosphere.
I just hoped they would have more choices of curries to choose from.
The Mango Lasi was amazing, so much so that we had to get another one on the go. It's super cheap too at, if I recall correctly $2.50 per cup.
Might drop by next time to see if there are any different curries next time 😊😊
Food is cheap, wholesome and delicious! (Free refills anyone?!) Service is friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is okay, not the cleanest of places, no fuss with trendy furniture or decor. That doesn’t really matter though because you get what you pay for. If you are needing a quick, cheap, vegetarian/vegan friendly meal in the city after a long day shopping then this is the place!
Cheap and cheerful. Best value dinner for $6.50 in Melbourne. Was skeptical at first but its genuine Thali like from India. Taste isn't amazing but the naan is nice and curries taste OK. Service is blunt but adequate and they can be a little slow to bring food out. You can also keep asking for more. Well keep going back when needing a cheap dinner in city.
Ordered an all-you-can-eat meal, and it was so large that I didn't need a refill. They made it vegan on request, and it was a really filing curry
Pros:
- very low prices - value for money
- homely food is served
- chole bhatura is really nice here - the chickpea curry is rather liquidy and not thick/rich/heavily oily like other places
- lots of space to sit
- Masala tea is beautiful
Cons:
- while the bhatura is not as oily as other places, it isn't as aromatic or flavoursome
this place is awesome... for $6.50 all you can eat, the garlic nan is freshly made...curry & rice tastes good together with it...oh it is vegetarian but great for a quick eat (lunch or dinner) my kids are quite fussy eaters and ate everything i did :)
How anyone could consider OM as anything but five star worthy is quite beyond me.
It's just about the cheapest, healthiest, most filling and enjoyable meal you can get in Melbourne CBD.
It's served me as a regular lunch spot, late night fix and family lunch out. The only problem with it is that I can't justify going anywhere else.
Really friendly staff and an interesting menu available to those who dare venture beyond the $6.50 mark.
The fact that it also serves as a reminder to a holiday in Nepal is just an added bonus, dhanyabad!
Nice place to visit if you love North Indian cuisines! Don't expect a taste like home coz the spices are suppressed to suit the Aussie standards! Overall, a good experience! Would love to go here again!
You know how food at home is simpler than food in restaurants. Food here is closer to the stuff you get at home.
No nonsense, clean and healthy food. It's not spicy, it's not oily, it is made with fresh ingredients and served at very low price. The naan is not going to make any fans. Overall it's a good meal. The place can be improved.
If you haven't yet, try their Samosas and gulab jamun. Easily the best in the city.
We had the $6.50 all you can eat vegetarian thali plate. It came out pretty quickly and the service was nice although a bit disjointed. It's hard to complain about the food at that price. It wasn't amazing, but adequate. The curries had a similar color, but slightly different flavors. One had chickpeas and the other had potatoes and some spongey item (possibly tofu). The meal came with a generous portion of rice and naan, but the server also came out serving fresh naan as well. It was easy to get extra servings. I wouldn't recommend this place to everyone, except those who are happy with a cheap, filling meal that isn't fast food.
Quick, cheap, and yummy! It might come across as a bit dinky, but the quality for price is awesome! $6.50 for unlimited lentil curry, vegetable curry, rice, and naan bread. The curry is quite mild, but very flavorsome. Would definitely go again.
I had tried Thali @ 6.5$ unlimited. Awesome food and great in this value.. Best in the CBD... I was impressed by naan... Quick service as well..
Being a hard core non-vegitarian most of the time,it was really difficult to like a pure veg rest such a extent that i have to write this review. The food is surprisingly so yummy in a very affordable price without much of spices and oil( ps-indian food is known for high oil n spice content ). Recommended for anyone visiting Melbourne.Veg meal (which comes which comes with two curries, unlimited crispy naans and rice) is must try .Go there for lovely indian food, not for the ambience.
Had their All-you-can-eat Thali Meal, which consists of rice, 2 curries and naan. Both the potato & soy curry and lentil curry were flavourful, while the rice were aromatic. I loved the naan as it was thin, crispy on the edges, buttery and nicely charred. Hands down one of the better naans I have had in Melbourne! Moreover, the refills are free hence everyone will be able to leave this place feeling full and satisfied. Great place to have a cheap and filling meal in the city!
Kath's Food Indulgences
+4
$6.50 for unlimited rice, fresh roti, 2 curries and some side of chilli. Amazing deal!
I like the fact that they are vegie-based curries, because I can't imagine eating too much of a curry that has meat in it. Their roti is amazing for such a fast service, and a cheap price. You can tell they've been freshly cooked - the char on them also adds great flavour.
Their mango lassi is a very cheap $4. And the staff are nice, though you may get some who are more quiet.
The only drawback is that they will sometimes serve you more curry sauce than curry with vegetables. And you do have to clean out the plate before you can get another plate of food.
But for a price that's cheaper than most other vegetarian dishes around the CBD, this is a perfect way to get your fill and satisfy some curry + roti cravings.
Never got to have anything else other than the famous budget friendly all you can eat thaali which is a very comforting thing to have when you are low on pocket. The best thing about the Thaali is the hot, freshly made bread which is by the way unlimited. Yes, you heard it right, the friendly staff cannot see your plates empty and hence you are frequently asked for the pieces of nicely buttered bread till you satisfy your tummy. A must visit.
I absolutely love this! Fantastic food at wonderful prices. I have been here very often and have never been disappointed. The food and prices keep me coming back.. The atmosphere is very late back-often in the city I will go to a cafe or restaurant alone and find myself very uncomfortable and sled conscious, whereas this is comfortable and tucked away, a great place for one or more people to dine. Very fast service. Sometimes I go into the city especially for this food experience. Just wonderful!
This was my first hotel since I landed in Melbourne. I must say it was an awesome experience. It is a small place located in the first floor and right in the CBD. The ambience was decent with wall posters depicting India culture. We bought an unlimited thali, it was brilliant. It was priced at 6.50$ and absolute value for money. I loved the Naan which was served there, it was well done to my liking.
The service was a bit on the downside because there weren't many helpers around.
All in all it was a really good place to have North Indian thali for less money and fill your tummy.
Cheap meals , foods good.
Can you guys please make wholemeal nan instead of refined flour ? A place with the name OM should care for people's health. Happy to pay extra for whole meal option.
Inexpensive vegetarian food, great value for money ( 6.50$ all you can eat) and the food is good ! Try the mangio lassi !
6.50 all you can eat you can't go wrong! Their curry is flavourful, rice not so much. Service is terribly random so don't be surprised if people who came after you get their meal first. Same meal everytime - unless you pay more for something else.
Hello everyone,
I went today to the restaurant. Hats off to the people over there. Good food. Nice and clean. The Thali meal for 6.50 makes your tummy full, and the great thing is it is unlimited.
Most amazing vegetarian food available at this price,
Its all you can eat, with 3 curries, rice and Indian bread,
I chose combo for $10 which came with a samosa and choice of drink, I chose mango lassi, simply amazing.
Food was simple and nice, staff was very friendly,
Ambiance is nice and there is always something soft indian meditation song playing, makes me feel just like home,
Will alwasy go back whenever i am homesick.
If you are in the mood for a nice basic punjabi vegetarian fare, don't look further. Very yummy paranthas and paneer items. The 6.50 meal is more than worth the money though the sides could be better.
Serves Indian thali at 6.5 AUD, located just outside the Flinders Street station in CBD.
The place was recommended by a student when I went to his place for rental accommodation. This is the cheapest and probably the best Indian food available in CBD. Eat as much as you can, yes, no limit, eat till your tummy is full.
This place is blessings for students and migrants who lookout for cheap and good indian food.
You are served with two curries, chapati and rice. Yes, pickles too :)
Overall, good place to go when hunger strikes and your pocket isnt deep enough. :P
This is going to be the best value meal you're going to get in the CBD. Food can be a little spicy but if you're not sure just ask. Came a few times and they mix up the food quite often. Not easy to find but you will often find men handing out menus on the street. A real hidden gen!
We were told about this place from one of our Australian friend who always visits whenever he is in Melbourne. One day we found our way to Om Vegetarian & boy was it an amazing experience.
When - Monday
Who went - 3 hungry Indians
Damages - $21.5 total
Order - 3 Unlimited thalis+1 raita
The thali they were serving that day had Black gram dal+potato peas curry+Rice+Naan
Everything was amazingly good & had the right proportion of spices. No complaints what so ever. The staff was courteous.
I deducted 0.5 points because I would prefer a small portion of sweet dish included in the thali. I know its so cheap but I wouldn't mind paying extra $ for it. The thali was $6.50 but the food was so good I would have paid more also for it!
A must visit place!
The food is AMAZING and the service is very friendly (especially around lunchtime, when everyone is fresh and happy). The naan bread is some of the best one can find. The environment can be a little strange and cramped, but it is the sentiment that drives the place, and that sentiment is a warm and friendly one.
Good value little place tucked away in a small arcade off Swanson Street. For only $6.50 a thali meal is a mildly spiced plate of lentil curry, vegie curry, rice & naan bread.
You really can't go too far wrong here. Cheap feed, good food, and with all-you-can-eat, you're not going to go hungry. Curries are a bit mild, but that keeps it accessible to everyone. Place can also be pretty crowded and chaotic during busy periods, so avoid the peak for your first visit.
Might not sound like your jar of marmalade, but hell, for these prices, you seriously can't lose anything, but the time you'd spend waiting for a tram outside. Give it a fair go
Good indian restaurant, you will get indian atmosphere, I tried for thali and was good, it's in just 6.50 💵 and unlimited, Samosas were also good, and they are serving as well
Worth every praise. Although they are very low priced compared to the food quality they serve. Its a must try for everyone without being heavy on pocket.
worth visit place for 6.5 $ all u can eat...!!
vry cheaper thn any other restaurant wid indian taste...
1 sabji 1 dal nd naans nd pickle all u can eat hw mny times it doesnt matter...!!
sabji is quite wattery bt its ok fr dis price range nd naans r tooooo gooooooooood delicious !!
nly d issue is service is quite slow fr naans !!!
all in all wrth visit place fr home made food taste ....!!!
We came here after a long day of travel. The food here is nourishing and delicious, with a $6.50 meal deal you cant go wrong. The lentil and vegetable curries had a lot of flavor and the naan bread was nice.
My workmate and I walked here from our new inner city work establishment knowing that it was simple tasty food but vegetarian and who could pass up $6.50 all you can eat?!
Still not quite sure how the 'all you can eat' process works because upon arrival there was another deal which included a samosa and mango lassi for $10. Done! Where can you have entree main and drink for 10 bucks!?
Samosa with tamarind sauce was our entree while our 2 curry, rice, naan and accompaniments were prepared.
The lassi was nice, but I'm personally not big of a creamy drinker so my workmate finished mine later on.
I was ecstatic to see when our meals came, that the saffron rice DIDN'T have peas as advertised (yay! I hate peas!)
I found both types quite tasty and it was also interesting to try new things - 'halwa'? (maybe?) - not to my liking but to Mick's - a sweetish semolina type spiced spoonful of moosh for the dish, and also some other pickled type of chili - much more tasty to my palate than the moosh.
As most of these reviews say- 'tis simple food, though was still very tasty.
I personally would have preferred more vegetable curry to the chickpea curry, or more vegetables in the vegetable curry, maybe even instead of the rice or 1 of the naans - but that's just me as I love vegetables. The first naan was as delicious as the reviewers raves, the second not as much however it may have been because it has cooled down, but we saw the staff come around to eaters quite frequently for additional bread so I don't think it's an issue at all :)
We were def sooo full afterwards we complained in joy and pain haha
So next time I'm considering the original $6.50 option with extra veg instead of the other extras I chose.
I do recommend if you're not after fancy schmancy but still tasty schmasty for a great price and great vibe
This place was a god send for me as a backpacker on a budget. I had very little money for food and being a vegetarian it was amazing. I ate here a couple times on my trip and didn't even need the refill but still felt I got my money worth. It was a yummy, comforting meal. The only thing that I found odd was that they always charged me $6.70. I didn't say anything because I thought it was a mistake and it isn't even a problem really, but they did it every time so something tells me it was not a mistake... didn't bother or deter me from coming back though. would recommend despite the .20 loss! haha
Great deal for only $6.50! Food was good and you even get to refill if you're not sharing, the best part was the delicious nan bread. A must try for those trying to save money
Nothing beats this place in melbourne for value. $6.50 for an all you can eat fresh meal is incredible. I've been there several times and I'm never disappointed. The naan is to die for (I brought Indian friends who agree with me) and alone is a reason to visit. The food is very simple, so is the ambiance. Don't expect wonders from the food as you would from the naan, but still totally worth a lunch visit.
Easy, delicious, no-nonsense Indian food. You can't go wrong for $6.50! Great for those on a tight budget, but still want to eat out on the occassion.
DELICIOUS YUMMY FOOD. I went there for the first time and it was sooo good!! Definately worth the go and the food was delicious! Service was nice and you definately get your moneys worth!!! I cant eat spicy at all and it wasnt spicy for me. really go check it out!!!
Love it. Recommend to Everyone.. Must visit once and you will go again.. Can't resist..
Love the food. Love the food at Om veg
Can eat this everyday, quality of food is very good plus very fresh nan straight from Tandoor.
Like like like
Probabaly the best naans in Melbourne with the worst thali. I pay 6.5 just to eat the naans. Period. I lovveeeeee the new menu where alu parathas and makke de roti/ sarso da saag are good items. The paneer makni tastes good at the start n then its gets too boring and heavy to eat the rest. Good value for money. Samosas are average and the vadas are the same. Gulan jamuns are pretty good and the lassi is probably the worst ive ever had.
Best value 'All You Can Eat' in the Melbourne CBD. I love this place. It is a clean, pleasant space to enjoy a quiet meal and the food itself is lovely. For a meager $6.50 you get a veggie curry, dhal, rice, pickle and some freshly made naan. If this fails to fill you up you can get a top up. Brilliant. You cannot beat the value for money and the fact that the food is delicious and healthy makes this place a winner. Love it, I always make sure to pop in when I'm looking for a quick yummy meal.
$7.50 for a simple all you can eat veggie meal including very good freshly baked bread. Great when you're hungry in town and on a tight budget. No complaints! All the other branches are great too.
My favourite restaurant chain in Melbourne so far! Shabby chic intention at this one but always glorious curries, plenty of warm naan, and the best Masala Tea you can get outside of India I’m sure!
All you can eat vegan Indian food for a very cheap price. Overall a great deal.
All you can eat for delicious vegetarian Indian for a low price, great fast service in a nice environment. Great for eating cheap and healthy on the go.
Excellent food and service, The prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. Will come here again.
Sooo good, really cheap and a lot of food.
Amazing amazing food! Fresh tasty vegan curries and free refills, too :)
Nice place to have good Indian good at a reasonable price. The place provides different options for eating including around 8 dollar for eating as much you can. In this option two vegetables, rice and nan are served with refill option. Staff is really nice and friendly. The persons on reception were filling with broad smile on face. The only reason I am taking one star out of 5 is the entrance of this place . The entrance is really smelly.
