Review Woodo Korean Bbq - Melbourne

Elysia Ang
Best Korean BBQ experience!! Love how they have the table all set up with the side dishes, awaiting & welcoming your arrival (if you've booked). Amazing staff who are very attentive, constantly offering to refill your side dishes and condiments before they go empty. Food was great, plenty of banchan varieties to compliment the meats, waiters cook them perfectly for you at the table. Also kid friendly with high chairs available and a place to store our stroller. All in all we left very satisfied, especially with the friendly service & hospitality :)

We had great dining experience. Food was great and the service was excellent. Side dishes had been refilled many times and staff members always responded quickly with smile. Staff members would cook in front of the table and meat were cooked perfectly. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend.

We got the deluxe family set paying $220. The range of meats were nice, however, I felt for the price the meats could of been marinated further and more tender. The staff were excellent in assisting in cooking the food and they frequently replaced our sides without hesitation. Whilst not 5 stars, as I felt for the price it could’ve been higher quality I was happy with the experience and would come here again.

The best place for enjoying Korean BBQ meals in Melbourne. The staffs were so kind and quick response to our needs. Wagyu Scotch fillets gave a very special experience. How nice it was! Great services and qualities, highly recommended.

This Korean BBQ restaurant provides us with the best quality of fresh meat, customer service, and care while I having a bbq set menu. Meat was tender and juicy enough to enjoy each bite of bbq’ed pork and beef, which went well with a bottle of Soju. Staffs were very friendly, professional, and thoughtful to care for patrons. And they did the bbq for us just needing to enjoy watching meat to become cooked and carrying on our conversation. It was a pleasant dinner and memorable day due to this restaurant. Recommended!

Loved the meat. The customer service was excellent. Absolutely enjoyed the kimchi side dish from there too. Thanks for being so generous with side dishes. Definitely coming back.

Amazing place for Korean BBQ, the staff really knows their meats. Always a friendly smile and so generous with their side dishes.

We had the best time. It was such a lovely space and our waiter Jay was so considerate and so nice. Honestly the best customer service received ever. Jay was advising on the best food combinations and it was so tasty. We had such a great experience. Looking forward to coming back here soon!

Very reasonable price for a large portion of Meat! Can never finish the two people set by two of us 🤣

Best korean bbq place ever!!food is always fresh and good value for money!!My favorite restaurant, highly recommends
Daisy
The food was delicious, from the juicy meats to the hearty soup. The service was also super friendly and efficient, making sure to keep an eye on us so we didn't burn anything. The restaurant is quite cosy and very warm. The only negative is that there isn't much space on the table around the bbq, so it can be difficult to fit lots of plates and eat comfortably.
Minsuk Kim
very nice. They provide lots of side dish when you order bbq. I couldn't even eat them all haha. Every food were nice and reasonable price. I love to go back. staffs are kind as well.

This was my first attempt at Korean BBQ. We chose the banquet which was huge and we had no chance at finishing it between the two of us. The staff were very helpful explaining everything once they realised we were complete first timers. Very good value. <br/><br/>Cons - It’s not a fine dining place and there are often large groups there - so this is not for a quiet luxury dinner. <br/><br/>Thanks Woodo!
Mylinh
Polite, friendly and very attentive. Food was delicious and highly prompt service. The ambiance is chilled and comfortable. Lovely 0Would definitely be back.

Woodo had interesting side dishes, and the detail in which they cooked the beef was very interesting.<br/><br/>Ordered:<br/>🐮🐷 Beef & Pork Set for 2 people: 400g of marinated beef ribs and 400g of sliced pork belly, kimchi soup with pork, tofu and vegetables and 2 bowls of steamed rice ($76.00)<br/><br/>Review:<br/>As mentioned below, the service was quite good. They take responsibility in ensuring your meat is cooked perfectly.. a gesture that can be left to the participants of the grill at some places.<br/><br/>Gestured upstairs, we watched them cook the pork belly first then lay PARCHMENT PAPER under the beef to deliver the most mouth watering, juicy beef ribs I've had in a long time.<br/>We were also presented with complimentary pineapple dessert - which I note was offered to a fellow reviewer a month ago. This makes me think it's a fun little treat and although I'm grateful, it's not as special as Woodo makes it out to be.<br/><br/>However, the most upsetting part is walking outside the restaurant smelling like KBBQ. When majority of KBBQ restaurants in the city have fantastic ventilation systems, walking home with the smell of kbbq clenching your hair is upsetting. Unfortunately, it's enough of a deterrent to prevent me from coming back.

This was my first Korean bbq experience in Melbourne so I'm comparing this to Korean bbq in Sydney. Let's start with the positives. Plenty of seating, quite a good variety of dishes on the menu and they cook everything for you which can be a great plus for a lot of people. Service is great. They even offered us a complimentary pineapple dessert. Compared to the Sydney Korean bbq places, the price here is fairly reasonable. Unfortunately, the quality of the meat was not the best and I thought the meat tasted quite bland in general. Most of the meats we had were not exactly tender and had a fair percentage of fat on them. Pictures speak for themselves.
Snowflower
Fried chicken were yummy enough, but the seafood bento was pretty average what with the very chewy calamari. I supposed we should have gone with the Korean bbq set since the last reviews seemed to suggest this place was best for that.
Chef To Eat Anyway
I have been there for a few times . I didn’t get any disappoints . They organize very well . The food and service are good all the time . I really enjoy at there every time . I recommend there for dinner .
Meg Eats Everything
Reasonably priced and absolutely delicious! The waitress was so lovely, helpful and attentive and overall, it was a great dining experience. One of the best Korean BBQ places in the CBD. I think they gave a really nice amount of meat (especially compared to other Korean BBQ in the city) and the meal was really filling and satisfying. 감사합니다!
Rai Sarms
Serving was really above average. They do free refills for their side dishes. The meat and the simchang sauce (i dont know how to spell them) was very tasty. We came on a wednesday night and its a bit packed. Recommend people to reserve a seat otherwise waiting time is about 15-30mins (so dont go when you're really really hungry, although you can coz it's really worth the wait). Very friendly staff and they make sure that you are really looked after. We ordered the 750g korean beef bbq set. Serving's good for the price. Will really recommend this.

food 4/5<br/>service 5/5 <br/>environment 3/5<br/><br/>we order the Beef set B and they have good value set menu which make them as one of the best Korean BBQ restaurant. and they provide some amazing dishes before the BBQ . no one like them in Melbourne and the service is good as well. but the environment is too old and the smoky everywhere due to the poor ventilator system.

Been wanting to try out this place for awhile but there always been a long wait so we always just leave. But this time we had a chance to get a table right away. Now I know what the fuss is about, the food here is not only good but the side dishes they offer is very generous. The service is good and would definitely be back here again. Food coma to the max.
Nicola
My sister and I have been there many times now. We really love their beef.. and especially their sauce is so good. The place has a nice vibe , food not pricy and staff are friendly. I do hope they could extend and add more to their drinks menu. That would be awesome. Overall I would highly recommended this place 🙋

So what happened is tonight I have called Woodo around 7:20 and asking for a table for 2, and the manager said tonight is not busy at all just walk in is fine, don’t worry about booking, then we walk towards the restaurant and arrived at 7:35, then guess what, they are full and got peoples waiting ! Around 6,7 people waiting! Then of course I said I just called and you guys said it’s free, but then the manager said too bad it’s full now, are you going to wait ?<br/>This kind of service is so bad
DuyD
My new favourite Korean bbq place. The restaurant takes big group booking. The seafood pancake and beef bbq are delicious. The beef is tender and still juicy
NoCapsicumPlease
We didn’t try lots of different varieties but what we had (only pork belly and some sorts of beef) was nice. The sorbet was tiny however it ended perfectly as everyone was stuffed<br/>The service was good, but some how they didn’t manage to deliver our drink orders quite quickly.
Hungrytummy
I have found my new favourite korean bbq in city. The pork belly and marinated beef set were amazing and worth it.. the dessert was not bad too.. will be back again very soon..

hmm I think this place gets it's popularity from the the quantity of food you get and the fact that the waiters do everything for you rather than quality.<br/>We got the pork belly set. The quality of the meats were pretty average resulting in an average taste. The other side dishes didn't taste very authentic and I regretted filling my stomach up with them. We ordered the cold noodles. Broth and noodles were fine but please do something about the sad tasteless cardboard like meat you place on top..<br/>Service is attentive and nothing to complain about although slow at times. As being Korean myself I dont think waiters cooking you food is what makes or breaks KBBQ considering if you go to one in Korea its all up to you (everyone please take note of this!!)<br/>Better quality meats, improved taste for side dishes and faster service is what is needed here!
Vicki
The service is really realy bad ! Unbelievable !<br/>Also the beef tasted so bad . We won't go again.<br/>What a terrible experience at this restaurant.

Woodo is by far my favourite kbbq place to go to because of their beautiful cuts of meat, variety in side dishes, attentive service and value for money!<br/>Of the many times I’ve been here, the pork sets are my go to as they’re thick cuts and really fresh. When eaten together with the sauce and vegetable wraps, it’s so juicy, flavourful and doesn’t have the really overwhelming porky taste that you get with subpar pork quality.<br/>The Pork Set B can feed 3 easily as it comes with soup, steamed eggs, rice, vegetables and even a little crushed ice dessert. Worth it!<br/><br/>The service is also on point, the staff are super attentive and will cook the meat for you.<br/><br/>Note that you have to make a reservation or you should walk in before 6pm, otherwise the wait can be very long as they get packed really quickly. <br/>Also, they don’t normally serve kimchi as part of the complementary side dishes unless you ask for it, I found out only after dining a few times here 😂
Little Bit Of Everything
Woodo is my new found favourite Korean BBQ restaurant. Amazing service but highly recommend you make a booking before you arrive as it gets super packed and the wait is pretty long as it’s a BBQ restaurant. Please note they take bookings for 4 or more people. <br/>They have a varied spread of banchan. Very generous with their portions including garlic as at other BBQ places they charge a $1 or 2 if we ask for more. <br/>We ordered the banquet with Pork as a choice of meat, Beef Bulgogi Hotpot, Sesame and Matcha Ice - Cream. <br/>It was a lot of food for 3 of us to finish we had to take away leftovers. <br/>Just with pork belly I thought they where too thick and fatty.
Mustard
We rocked up without reservations, it seemed like all the tables downstairs are catered for 2-4 people whereas upstairs you've got much more room to breathe. There is not much ventilation here, this is guaranteed to make you exit with smells of BBQ on yourself and clothes.<br/><br/>We were a party of 5 and we got a combination of beef and pork in our set intended for 4. We also added on some beef tongue and a seafood panjeon (Korean pancake) for good measure.<br/><br/>The banchan was varied but missing kimchi which was a shame. We also got some random sides which included a fluffy omelette, shredded scallion salad and a cold soup I've not tried before. The kimchi and pork stew we got was firey and the and mul naenhmyeon (cold noodles) was the complete opposite, a light and refreshing buckwheat noodle soup. We also got bibimbab in a stone pot to share (unusual they'd include it in the set) and the panjeon was pretty good, not gluggy but crisp with nice bouncy prawns and calamari.<br/><br/>The BBQ itself was fueled by gas, disappointing as I would always prefer charcoal as it gives it a nice smokiness to the meat. That being said the service was super attentive, the server didn't burn any meats and we were able to enjoy our own company with a few beers and soju (they didn't have any flavoured soju however). All the cuts of meat we were presented was good and I did get a little overexcited when they placed a plate of wagyu on our table (not intended for us but I did take a quick snap).<br/><br/>We were all stuffed with a few sides left over. We finished off with some sort of pineapple granita, I'm sure it was just shaved ice and pineapple juice. As we walk out I'm sniffing my clothes and bag. Urgh, a shower is in order.

Pro: awesome food! We got pork belly & beef ribs set for two people. Highly recommend the marinated beef ribs! This is Korean BBQ so you don’t have to cook, staff will do that for you. Our waiter was very attentive and kind - thank you! Panchan is basic, I was a bit sad they don’t include the corn dish in set menu anymore. We left being so full we had to say no to the dessert lol<br/>Con: make sure you are there when they open, otherwise prepare to wait for 30-45 minutes. We were lucky 3 groups before us were not there when they were called, so it took us only 30 minutes waiting. They don’t take reservation for group of 4 pax or less :(<br/>Conclusion? We will be back!

This place is bananas. Always would be my number one choice for Korean BBQ in the city. A long queue after 6pm. The Kimchi pancake makes me feel homesick. Sad sad.

Walked in to try our luck and got a table in abt 20 mins on a Thursday night. Had the beef and pork set for 2, upsize to bibimbap and added the kimchi pancake. Couldn't finish all the food and had to takeaway. They gave us a on house dessert - pineapple and mango sobert, it was refreshing, exactly what you need after all those meats! All food are yummy, meats are fresh! Friendly staffs but they are all busy, so be patient. Will definitely come back again 😉

Best korean BBQ in town, the food was awesome and the service amazing. We just had to wait 30 minutes because this place is very popular.<br/>Highly recommended

Awesome KBBQ with great service, great food and and great atmosphere. Went and had the Pork and Bee set, really love it, with some Makkoli and it's perfect.

I forgot to take a photo of foods... Anyway for me, this Korean BBQ place is top 3 in Melbourne. Service is not so quick and good enough, however balance of food quality, volume and price is very well. I strongly recommend Set menu for group as affordable set. Then order additional meat and pancakes and beer!! <br/>It is perfect set for after work dinner with coworkers!!
TimInMelb
Lunch meals are delicious and the best value for money for a lunchtime meal - about 8 dollars for a meal with a drink! Staff are always smiling and very friendly.
Yash
This place was simply fantastic. The food was great, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not smoked up like a lot of KBBQ places. They also comped our dessert and a few extra orders. I will definitely he coming back. The only downside is that you can't book this place in advance.

Great staff, cozy ambience and the best Korean BBQ we have had. Had to wait a bit to get a table but the food was totally worth the wait! Look no further if you are after Korean BBQ.. Woodo's the place to go!!
Linda
Who can go wrong with some cozy kbbq on a rainy night! Ordered the pork set for 2 and portions were quite big so I'd say it was more for like 3 people! Meat was fresh and cooked nicely. The silky tofu soup was flavourful, however if your spicy tolerance is low like mine, it be best to opt for less or no chilli because it can be hot hot hot! Excitement sparked when the fluffy egg dish finally came out and it didn't disappoint as the egg was soft and delectable. Shattered corn cheese wasn't on the menu but overall the ambience and dinner was enjoyable.

Decided to have dinner here on my birthday. Ordered a pork set (thin sliced) and it was reallyyyy gooddd! I like the texture of it and the pork's thickness is just right. The set came with some side dishes, soup; which I chose a kimchi soup and egg; decided to change the egg into a steam one as my friend suggested and the steamed egg was soo goodd! Employees are very nice and helpful. They always come to check and cook the meat for us. Had a pleasant dinner here :-)
HeHe He
My go-to K-BBQ for many years! One set is enough to feed even 4 people, as it comes with an authentic Korean soup and a steamed egg dish. After trying all of their delicious soju ades, I recommend the mandarin and strawberry flavour as opposed to the blueberry as it tends to settle at the bottom. A great spot for a fun night with friends!

One of my favourite place to go whenever I feel like Korean BBQ. Been coming here many times now.<br/>Food is good, very generous portion, for the amount of food you are getting for the BBQ set menu, I don't mind the price they charge.<br/><br/>Customer service is good, staff is friendly and always cook the meat for you. One thing that not good is you must wait very long time. They don't do booking, only walk in. So if you want to avoid long waiting , properly best to come in at 5:30 pm when they open for dinner or after 8:00 pm when its get a little less busy. 😀

First time trying this place and there were two things that stood out to me. Firstly the service was exceptional. Secondly, the amount of sides was the most that I have seen. Food was also great and to top it off, we were given a jug of beer on the house. The quality of the food was outstanding. Especially the cuts of meat were of high standards. Will be back 🙂
Good Food, Good Mood
Woodo looks very unassuming from the outside but is a two storey + well evaporated hidden gem. Between 2 people, we ordered oyster blade, thinly sliced pork belly, and silky tofu soup. The meats were so succulent that it didn't need a marinade. Portions are generous and the side dishes were very traditional, a bit too many sides for my liking. Service was a bit slow, but there were only 2 FOH staff and the restaurant was full house. Reasonably cheap if you order individual meats instead of the sets. Will be coming back here again, thanks for the complimentary pineapple shaved ice 😍🍧
Jay Zhu
Service is not very good. Staff members looks like so hurry and we need to wait for their service for a long time. Their BBQ set offer a variety of side dishes which are delicious however meat is just ok😂
Yess
GENEROUS PORTION!<br/>Had the bbq set for 2 ppl, and it was 3 of us, still didnt manage to finish it. So much foods, and at reasonable price. Pork belly was a bit dry though
The Dear Luncher
It’s a novelty to cook your own food in a restaurant. To be quite frank however, it’s a novelty The Dear Luncher has very little interest in. Eating out should be about having food cooked for you. That being said, if you’re into Korean BBQ and the DIY approach – good for you. Give yourself a pat on the back

Best korean barbeque in Melbourne. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere and reasonably priced. <br/>Always has a line though. Booking recommended. <br/>

So so so delicious Korean bbq ever!!! I'm glad that my friend took me here and before 6 pm because after I was too many people in the queue. Staff was so nice and friendly, thank you so much ❤️

Having lunch with friends here for first time and wasn't disappointed. Floor staff was attentive, food was great & big portion with cheaper price, and got free mineral bottle. Recommended!! 😊

My favourite Korean BBQ in town. I always order meat one by one since the set menu is a bit large for me. Great service as well. Wait time can be long if didn't book in advance. Over all above average Korean restaurant compare to many other in town.

cbd lunch cheap eat place. $ 6 for curry don and $7.90 for a plate. Taste not bad, price is cheap. I would recommend for people works at Cbd and looking for cheap lunch.

Lovely place and the food comes out quickly. Its also a good amount and good price to hang out with a friend and spend some time together. The food tasted really good as well which made me happy amd would love to go again.

Came here for a bday dinner. Location wise was good with plenty of parking avail out from on king street. Venue looked smaller from the outside but inside theres w levels with plenty of tables. Some of the stools arnt so comfortable though and quite clunky esp. when we had 3 tables put together seating 14ppl. Very troublesome to get in and out.<br/><br/>Service was good. Friendly and efficient.<br/><br/>Foodwise it was just ok. Electric bbq was used ra ther then the traditional charcoal which although can be less smoky the meat didnt have the great smokey flavour you would expect from a kbbq. <br/><br/>We ordered the seafood pancake as starters and that was delicious! Great amount of seafood to pancakes. Serving was generous also. Then we got the set 2 and set 8. Set 2 was beef only and set 8 was pork belly i think. Slightly dissapointed with the meat or maybe the combo of electric stove and meat but the meat didnt taste as tender. The marinated beef was cooked on baking paper (i assume so its less for them to clean) but in turn it kinda stewed the meat so it was quite chewy after it was cooked. The pork belly didnt have that charcoal cooked to it so it just tasted like oven pork belly, nothing special unfortunately. <br/><br/>The kim chi soup that came with the set was delicious. Not too overly spicy with heaps of cabbage, tofu and pork. I enjoyed this. Forgot to mentioned the side dishes was a major letdown also. Nothing special. Kimchi only came with the set menu and we had go ask for it 3 times. <br/><br/>Overall good company so it was good. I was full but would i return? Hrmm perhaps not when theres so many other kbbq joint in the city.
Colossal Chow
An extremely busy double-floor Korean bbq restaurant. They don't take bookings so get in early. Five of us waited about 15 minutes before being escorted to our table upstairs, and pleasantly surprised to see all the Korean condiments were set up on our table already. We ordered 2 x Pork & BBQ sets and Korean Pancake. Servings were generous and fresh and so tasty! Waitresses were friendly and helpful, coming to our tables at regular intervals to cut the meat for us. The sets also came with two soup choices, we went for the Kim Chi soup and the egg soup. Everything was delicious and an enjoyable time was had by all. Only thing is the place can be very noisy so you may have to talk over each other to be heard. Apart from that, great valule for money (came to $38 for each of us), excellent quality of food, and fantastic service, make this one of the best Korean restaurants in Melbourne!
Kenji Yeo
They take really long to clean up the table, and sit the waiting guests. I have waited for an empty table for 30 mins, and the way of their service is just way too slow, the food is not worth the wait.

Ordered: Pork Belly Set and Beef and Pork Set. <br/>If u want to go for pork belly. This is the place to go. The pork is thick and so juicy and of course when u put it on top of rice and some kimchi 👌 (perfection). I don't have a wowza opinion on the beef beef-cause (pun-intended) i always go to Chango (best place for beef 👅) <br/><br/>They also give many side dishes - not traditional side dishes definetly more modern dishes - , the vibe of the place is great and the service is moderately fast. I don't think it's too pricey because kbbq are normally expensive anyway but definetly book before you go because there WILL be a line.<br/><br/>Check out my instagram to see the whole spread!!<br/>@stop.drooling (you won't regret it)

By far the best Korean BBQ place I've been to in Melbourne CBD! The place was crowded with a line by about 6:30pm; that however did not impact the quality of service at all. Waiters remained patient and served us with a smile. At no point did we feel like we had to rush through our meals to make way for people waiting in line. Food was amazing too! We had a seafood hot pot and the pork set. Both dishes were delicious! Will definitely be back!
Angey
My first visit to a Korean BBQ place and I was hooked! <br/>Been back a few times with friends and had the same dish! <br/>Didn't try the actual BBQ but I did devour the bipimbap! <br/>This is a very in-expensive dish but my gosh is it flavour packed! <br/>Rice, various veggies, other condiments, sauces, egg, shredded meat and on a wintery night it was divine! <br/>Must re-visit! <br/>
Shuman Paul
One of the better Korean BBQ joints I have been too.<br/>Serves an inexpensive lunch of Dons of around 6$.<br/>Decided to go for Bento Spicy Pork with Rice.<br/>The serving of meat was sufficient for two light eaters. Had to struggle a bit to finish the meat.<br/>All in all good place.<br/>Would go next time to try the Noodles Soup. Friends liked that.

We ate here tonight and we have been here once before. The first time we went the service and food was pretty good and this time we came back and it got even better.<br/><br/>Staff was really friendly and helpful even tho it was really busy. They were always attentive and smiling. Food servings was bigger and fresh too. <br/><br/>We felt so full and happy and for sure we are coming back again. One of our favourite Korean restaurant. 😁<br/><br/>If anyone loves to eat Korean BBQ and have great service this is a great place to try out.
Diana
Simply delicious! So much food comes out, with a good variety of side dishes. The service is also v good. An icy pineapple ice cream at the end is the perfect dessert! Get pork set a for the main.
Veggirl
I like their cheap lunch options for a quick bite to eat. I always get the spicy tofu dish with rice and salad for 7.9 with a free drink. Cheap and cheerful.
StepiiGM
Amazing food, comfortable seating, good price. We went for the wagyu beef and pork set. They came with a lot of side dishes (refillable), soup, and steamed eggs. Our table can barely contain all of those. Left the place feeling super full, and happy 😉 For those who don't like korean bbq (like me!), they provide a lot more than just red meat.
VwngF
Best Korean BBQ joint in Melbourne! Ample of freshly cut meat and vegetables. The place is lively with international Korean food lovers. When we went, we ordered the set menu of the pork, and it says it feeds 2 people, but it really can feed 3 mouths! So bring friends when you do visit this place, because you won't finish all the food! Th price is very affordable, the cheapest Korean BBQ in Melbourne!

Use some common sense! Clear the table when the beers are empty. Learn how to take orders, don't walk away then come back! Not worth it! Service is horrible!<br/>

Was walking along King Street looking, and I came across this gem with my friend with a sign saying $6 lunch specials. We both like Korean cuisine, her more so than me so eh why not? Came here on Thursday looking for a cheap meal (affordable for a student). The interior looked really nice with a modern Oriental feel, darker wooden decor. We were confused as to what we were meant to do, so we just waited in line at the counter near the back and ordered our meals by snatching a menu. Surprisingly they even said we get a free drink, so we were just meant to pick a drink from the many cans and water bottles near the counter. <br/>We were told what our table number was upstairs, so we made our way to the table and sat down. The interior was surprisngly nice as I saw the price of the lunch, but when I saw the other meals I could tell this place wasn't cheap aside from the special lunch menu.<br/>Food arrived about 5-10mins after we ordered and they tasted nice, not a lot of quantity of each ingredient but what can you expect from the price? I was satisfied, it was a good meal size in which I could finish. Oh, what I ordered was the Spaghetti with Beef and Veggies in Curry (yep, fusion style dish). See picture in my profile if you wish.<br/>The service was decent and efficient, they were nice and very much Korean. <br/><br/>TLDR; Lunch special was worth it, good flavour but not with abundance of ingredients, interior looked really nice and made it feel like a more expensive place as opposed to the meals we ordered, service was quick, staff were friendly and definitely Koream, meal came out in 5-10mins, would definitely come back again!

Had their Beef Set which included a Silken Tofu Soup and we upgraded the steamed rice to a Stone Pot Bibimbab. Firstly, all the different types of beef were all very flavoursome. I loved Silken Tofu Soup as it was rich in flavours and had a little kick of spiciness within it. We were served with a variety of side dishes (much more than other KBBQs) and the steamed egg was commendable as it was smooth and savoury (goes well rice!). Last but not least, the Stone Pot Bibimbab was also satisfactory.

Cheap price.<br/><br/>Foods are okay.<br/><br/>Located near my language school.<br/><br/>How convenient it is !!!

Great option for family or friends gathering. The chapjae is too sweet. The salad needs improvement for it has lack of favour. I would recommend they provide marinated potato as complimentary small dish like other restaurant. Overall, good place for K-bbq

Two storeys with a great atmosphere! The service is fast and the servings are huge. You definitely get your money's worth (especially if you order the banquet ) :) <br/><br/>Also, the soju-ades are absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend.

No. Of Visits: 6 (Updated 8 Jan; first visit June 2016)<br/>With countless fine Korean/BBQ restaurants in Melb, Woodo has found the answer of how to successfully differentiated itself. <br/><br/>The really impressive BBQ set comes with many side dishes - not just your everyday-kimchi! It comes with steam egg, pickled seaweed, beans, tofu stew soup and salad. It also includes a variety of veggies and a small dessert.<br/><br/>The price is very reasonable in CBD standard as well. $75 for 2 people (Set) will make you walk out with a full stomach. <br/><br/>Standard hasn't wavered a bit - you get the same quality, quantity and service every time you come. It's a characteristic of successful restaurant. <br/><br/>We saw impressive queue outside Woodo quite often. To avoid the wait, we usually go earlier, say before 6pm.

Was around this place for late lunch at 150pm. Park the car, pay the parking, walk into restaurant . Ordered the BBQ and they told me not serving BBQ at 2pm. <br/><br/>But they just serving next table for BBQ. Walk out and go to my usual Korean BBQ place. <br/><br/>Sorry,added into my ban list
Our Foodie Finds
A surprising find after the original Korean BBQ place was booked out on Thursday evening. Located on King Street right next to 7/11 with ample street parking, we found ourselves a new favourite and clearly a very popular Korean BBQ restaurant. With an up and down stairs seating area, there is plenty of room for everyone however whilst we enjoyed our meal, for at least a good 15min, there was a line out the door waiting to be seated whilst the everything was being sorted out.<br/><br/>We ordered the beef and pork set $76.0 along with a Strawberry Soju Ade $16.0 which was dangerously delicious and could've kept downing a bottle had we not needed to drive. The marinade on the pork and beef were perfect in both sweetness and saltiness which was cooked for us by the waitress. We were offered a complimentary serving of what they call mango sorbet but is really just shaved ice with mango chunks. Was nice enough but probably worth a miss.<br/><br/>Service is quick which is provided by some very welcoming and approachable Korean staff who attended to all of our needs (not that we had any). <br/><br/>Woodo's decor and layout almost feels as if you were in the lobby of a sauna with wood covering almost everything but with just enough Korean memorabilia and decorations for it to not be overwhelming. In saying that, I think they need to work on the ventilation shafts that most Korean BBQ places have as it got pretty toasty in there.<br/><br/>With a spray of fabreeze at the counter whilst we paid for our meal, we decided this would be a regular. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

Best part of the experience - the staff are super friendly and very attentative! Excellent meat quality and they always change up the side dishes, so you get to try different condiments each time!

I have been here twice, and both are good experience. Wagyu beef is really tasty and I love the chicken bulgogi as well. But there is not enough waiters, you have to be patient when you are waiting.

Call to book a table on Friday night but they were full. Luckily, we've got a chance to book a table for Saturday lunch and it was amazing. I'm so glad that my friends love the place xD I've been there twice but it's their first time and they really are impressed with the food and service. The BBQ beef and pork set for 2 persons is huge for three of us. The silken tofu soup and Jap chae are delicious. The staffs are nice and friendly with their smiles. They also got us small desserts when we finished our meal. Good food good service. No wonder they are packed at lunch time xD we tried to finish earlier and let other people in :) Definitely coming back for more Korean BBQ.

Walked past this restaurant last night, and spontaneously decided to give it a try - I could say that this was in my top 3 food decisions this year.<br/><br/>We had the Beef & Pork set and we were definitely well fed. They gave as an abundance of side dishes which were very tasty, as well as a choice of soup (we chose the silk tofu soup - BEST DECISION EVER). Meat was fantastic; if anything, the beef was slightly overcooked for my liking - quality of food on the whole was great. <br/><br/>One of the main contributing factors to a 4.5 rating is the service - I never had to touch the tongs or scissors to cut the meat. The staff were always there were you needed them and were very polite. To top up the night, they gave us free dessert!<br/><br/>This was a great night for us.<br/><br/>Definitely would visit again, although wishing that it was slightly cheaper...

Love the cosy arrangement upstairs for korean BBQ. The set menus are quite expensive for the portion size but the quality of the meats were good. They were tender and marinated very well. Good place for a small group.

Highly recommend a visit. Haven't tried dinner here but I've been here twice for lunch and the lunch bentos are such incredible value. You can get well-fed at a mere cost of $7.90. The cheapest options are $7.90, followed by $11.90 and upwards. I have tried their fried fish bento and bibimbap rice bowl, and both were very good and filling. Service was always nice and friendly with warm smiles. Will definitely have to pop in for dinner sometime soon!

One of the best Korean places in Melbourne CBD. They serve delicious food and the ambience is also nice. Beef bibimbab being one of my favorites. The Bbq beef and pork is also awesome. The USP of the place is its owner. A lovely lady who personally takes care of all her guests. She teaches they how to eat the food in an authentic way. She is like a mother figure. A must visit to experience the hospitality.

One of the best BBQ restaurants in Melbourne. Friendly services and lovely waitresses, premium quality of meat and good portions. The highlight was traditional side dishes. Seafood Hot Pot was yum with various seafood. If you looking for some cheap Korean BBQ restaurant, go to Victoria Market, they will offer you 35 dollars set however with beef thin as paper and poor services.

I had the spicy beef bento which was alright. Pretty casual place for lunch with colleagues. The bento came with either rice or spaghetti, I had spaghetti out of curiosity, but why spaghetti???? It makes no sense. This is Korean, give us noodles! And also the pasta were cold. I had a good time anyway.

Had kimchi and pork bone hot pot. Pot was loaded - good for 1-2 people (small size) - obviously couldn't finish it all. It had the right amount of heat. Added a small bowl of rice with it. Soup definitely warmed me up :)

So after uni on Friday we thought we’d go get some nice Korean BBQ to satisfy our Korean BBQ cravings. We were gonna try Changgo which is famous for their 8-flavour pork belly set (although I think quite a few other Korean BBQ places have caught on to the hype now and also started offering similar 8-flavour meat sets) but since they don’t take bookings we didn’t wanna risk it so we opted for Woodo instead. I have heard good things about Woodo before so I was pretty excited to try this place. We made a last minute booking and they were able to accommodate us (7 people) on a Friday night. Note that when we arrived the place was pretty much at capacity so I strongly suggest making a booking for dinner.

What a disgrace of a restaurant! The staffs are forced , way too slow And it seems that their number 1 objective is to pump as many people in and out as they can. Don't bother coming. Avoid at all costs!!!!
A Black Sheep
Had dinner here tonight. Arrived at 6 pm with no booing but got a table straight away. The people came later had to wait quite a while. Ordered a stone bowl of beef rice, a spicy tofu pork soup, and fried vegetables potato noodles. With a pot of Korean citron tea. The tea pot wasn't even full. Water only filled just above half. Tea tasted nice but you can get a jar from the market and make your own anyway. So credit is not to the restaurant. The noodles are way too sweet and beef can barely noticed. Soup, nice taste but only four pieces of tofu and a couple pieces of pork floating around. The stone bowl looked great and could have been tasted better if they served me with the right chilli sauce. After all pretty average. Maybe the BBQ is better. But right now no intention to go back.

My friends and I love coming here since they opened. There's always enough food for us and we're always left full. The service is a little lacking but can be overlooked. Overall we will continue to come back here

Price is increased but the service, quantity and quality of meat are decreased. Ordered $76 meat set includes 400grams of beef rib and 400grams of porkbelly but, 2 pieces of beef ribs and 4 pieces of pork belly, some side dishes, 2 bowels of rice and one soup came out. It was pricey in comparison to the last year. Last year, there were $60 set includes 1kg of pork belly or $70 set for 6 beef ribs and with 2 bowels of rice, one soup and some side dishes Also, they served paper cups with a bottle of water. Other tables had plastic cup though. Almost staff were busy talk around the counter. Anyway, never be back.

Korean BBQ gem on King St. If you want a cheap meal with all the trimmings, order a bibimbap for $16! Includes miso, sides and dessert! Absolute bargain.

was introduced to this place by friends and have been back numerous times since. Other Korean BBQ restaurants should follow what this restaurant delivers in terms of side dishes. Our table were literally filled with different and tasty side dishes to enjoy through the course of our meal. We usually get the set for two, which mind you could feed 3-4 people depending how hungry you are. Their fruit-ade are very thirst quenching and tasty!

My first Korean BBQ experience, and a great one! I came here for a work dinner and enjoyed various dishes. The food was great quality and the staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. I would return to this restaraunt.

Food was very good and seasoned well; the simple mushroom/rocket salad was flavourful yet light and refreshing, the kim-chi soup not overly spicy and good servings of ice-cream. Commendable staff as they were quite attentive on a busy friday night; with the general assistance of the cooking of the food/meats to refilling the side-dishes, sauce and condiments. Overall, good place to catch-up! <br/>Note: Be sure to look out for the place as it's little alley doorway can be easily missed :)

Cheap for bbq...<br/>Lunch set are so valuable...<br/>Nice service...<br/>No need to wait for a long time...<br/>Quick service and quick serving...<br/>Been there three times and still feel welcome every time i go there...

One of my favourite places for Korean BBQ. Their pork is just average but they specialise in beef so I recommend ordering their wagyu beef sets. I got the oyster blade and it was amazingly tender. There are toooons of free side dishes which is a plus but unfortunately they charge you for lettuce refills. Staff are also nice but you can easily be forgotten if they're busy.

<br/>Updated Review!!! <br/><br/>I rated 4.5 before since they are really one of my fav korean bbq in Melbourne! But then I came again last week and got disappointed so much! Firstly, they increase the price!! Which I think mostly people come because of their good value, secondly, the rice is so hard which is really unlikely Korean bbq when you have to eat it with soft rice. And reminder! There is no free dessert when you came on lunch time. <br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>First Review!!!<br/><br/>Looking for a really good value korean bbq? Try this restaurant! They have generous variety of food! I always order the pork belly set which come with 2 soups, 1egg thing (i forgot the name) and at the end of your visit the will give you a free dessert! Its really good value of money!

One of the best Korean bbq!! However, u don't want to order too much, as the portion is so huge! The price is a little bit expensive, but it's definitely worth it!

This place looks mediocre on the outside but their staff, service and foods are impeccable. I tried the bibimbap and cold glass noodles. I must say it is one of the BEST bibimbaps I've had in Melbourne. It was super flavourfull and the serving was very generous. I'm not a super dooper fan of glass noodles so it tasted like all others. Overall, a great place for a group to catch up, and will definitely be back to try the korean bbq here.

Best Korean bbq!. Been to a couple Korean bbq restaursnt in the city and would hands down recommend woodo. Prices are reasonable and food portion is generous. Staff are also friendly and the restaurant has a nice ambience. Would definitely go back again in a heartbeat!

Came here recently with two friends and the lover on a Friday night - we went with the beef banquet and had a pretty awesome dining experience.<br/><br/>As per the menu, the banquet serves at least two people. You each get an appetiser, three choices of different cuts of meat to barbecue a HUGE hot pot and a choice between green tea or black sesame ice cream (hint: you can't go wrong with either) for dessert; plus A TONNE of complimentary dishes.<br/><br/>The menu was a bit confusing as we thought that because there were four of us, we could order x2 sets of three meat cuts and x2 hot pots but this wasn't the case - not a big deal and honestly, if we got two hot pots, I think we would have died. We were falling apart by the time we had finished appetisers and all the meat. We swear the hot pot could have fed at least 12 people. I argue you have a second stomach for dessert though because we perked right up for our ice cream even if our second wind was short lived!<br/><br/>I enjoyed the kimchi pancake for an entree, the oyster blade, scotch fillet and strip loin for my beef cuts, the beef bulgogi for the hot pot and green tea ice cream. The barbecue was simple but the meat spoke for itself in quality and flavour and I particularly enjoyed the scotch fillet.<br/><br/>Highly recommend that you consume a banquet in a group of about 5 or more or you will struggle!<br/><br/>I also really highly recommend the strawberry soju - very easy to drink.

Exceptionally good Korean BBQ. Tremendous value. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Pork belly and wagyu beef were fantastic. Their hotpots were also great.
