Speakeasy is my number 1 go to spot in Melbourne! Best hidden backyard patio, great atmosphere, amazing drink selection and high quality, delicious food. The slow cooked lamb is out of this world, and you can't pass up the 2 for 1 espresso martinis at happy hour. Staff are wonderful! Highly recommend!!
I had my 30th celebration at Speakeasy and it was just perfect! The courtyard area is lovely, they have a retractable awning which meant when the sun came out we could bathe in the glorious sunshine. They have great food options for vegetarians and meat eaters (try the burgers they're delish), as well as great drinks - if they're making Frosé's (frozen Rosé) make sure you try one! The staff were all really nice and super helpful. I couldn't recommend this place enough and will be back for another celebration soon.
Organised a hens at speakeasy and the staff were superstars - so accomodating, easy to work with and helpful. The space upstairs is really a hidden gem for events.
I can't speak highly enough about this place! The food was great, loved the atmosphere and the staff were amazing. They went above and beyond in every way. Can't wait to go back.
We’ve walked past speakeasy so many times but actually discovered it one everything through the secret lane way. Gosh, I love melbourne for this very reason. It’s a lovely space, very friendly, great food and a fab atmosphere. Will be back as soon as possible :)

Food here makes your belly full and happy. Eventhough i’m surprised they only have two chefs to prepare food on sunday brunch but its worth the wait! Coffee is strong so if you need a caffine boost you should start getting your coffee here.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: they have a massive courtyard at the back where you can have drinks with great music. I loved ordering the froses there in Summer as well. It was the best ambience.

Lovely ambience, it felt a bit more old world 1900s, which I would assume comes from the name, especially with the chandelier & wine along the wall.

Came here for a drink with a friend yesterday and did not realise, after walking past it a million times, how big the rear of the venue is! They have a gorgeous outdoor courtyard and ample indoor seating. We did not order food, as we had eaten somewhere else, but multiple dishes served around us turned heads! Lovely staff, gorgeous venue, great pricing on drinks and I will definitely be coming back to try the menu :)

The not-so-secret entrance from chapel street leads you through a narrow shopfront through to a dining room and a large covered outdoor terrace - which does also have a low key, cobbled entrance from Commercial road.
The spaces are light and airy, the service is good and the coffee is really good! They also have a full bar and an impressive cocktail menu.
The all day, modern Australian menu focuses on high quality snacks and dishes incorporating good quality, local, seasonal produce.
They do take bookings and can seat groups of up to 20 on one table. Plus there's plenty of rooms for prams.

We arrived in happy hour and my wine if choice was sold out, but they honoured the discount on my next choice.
The meal was superb.
My husband had the entree sized slow cooker beef rib with sweet potato chips, cucumber ribbons and tasty slaw, which filled him up!
I had the soft shell crab burger on a squid ink brioche with a crazy delicious dressing and slaw.
The chefs are visible and are happy and polite. The wait staff are friendly and so helpful.

A brunch place that now features an evening dinner and drinks menu, Speakeasy Kitchen Bar is nestled amongst a few other bars along Chapel Street – the brunch-dinner idea seems to be a trend starting to settle in. They have a nice spacious interior that was a bit chilly (heater could have been stronger), with a heated courtyard outside that has its own bar area, making it a cute late night drinks place. Unfortunately, the dinner dishes were a bit lacklustre despite having beautiful presentation worthy of the Melbourne culinary scene.

I was lucky enough to be invited for dinner last night and having visited here over 2.5 years ago I figured it was pertinent to re-review. I’m pleased to report it’s as good as ever although going mid week as opposed to a Saturday certainly changed the atmosphere to more relaxed and casual.
They had some ripper specials so I thought it only right to indulge, the oven roasted Camembert with chilli, honey and quince seemed like the perfect winter warmer and it didn’t disappoint. I loved the generosity of the quince too being a big quince fan. Our second entree, the prawn and chicken house made spring rolls are a permanent fixture on the menu and rightly so. Dip into the nuoc cham and wrapped in a lettuce leaf and away you go, freshness and flavour.
At this point we were also enjoying two rather fabulous cocktails, a lychee based one and a classic mojito which transported me back to last week where I was throwing them back in a European summer, seems like a lifetime ago sigh.
Main wise my husband opted for the 12 hour slow cooked lamb which the chef explained was a bit of a diy situation with the roti bread and accompanying vegetables to form a wrap. I had a taste of the meat which was deliciously tender but chose my main off the specials board which was very special indeed. An exceptionally well cooked eye fillet. I think the concept of ‘specials’ is often abused but in this instance two from two and I’m very glad we ordered them.
I simply had to end the evening with the cookie brownie sandwich being a humongous chocolate brownie fan. This did not disappoint even though I was already bursting by this point. Great food at reasonable prices what more could one want?
I had my birthday here after years of friends complaining that I always chose fine dining venues with obscure menus where everyone was still hungry afterwards. The menu here encompasses the people pleasers eg beef burger or scotch fillet but also offers a few more exotic choices ie ceviche and tartare. Overall all ten plus of us were satisfied with the food and the venue.
There was another birthday going on too but other than that it wasn't too busy. It's a huge space though so you can still feel fairly intimate with your group. They also gave the option that I serve my cake on napkins and cut it myself to avoid cakeage which was good
The back outdoor area is The perfect brunch environment! Coffee is nice and some different and tasty options on the menu. Get the sweet to share, so fluffy and yum. The eggs were cooked well as well,

I ordered the rose latte and the cured kingfish (with eggs, house flat bread, avocado, pumpkin hummus, cherry tomatoes, spinach and cucumber ribbons). The rose latte is pretty sweet and tastes just what roses smell like - probably would go for a coffee next time but it’s an experience! The cured kingfish was great too, but the kingfish itself was quite strong, but together with the salads, it’s great and refreshing and quite surprisingly filling as well! Would come back to try out a few more things on the menu.

Speakeasy Kitchen Bar does have a sign on the awning outside. That didn’t stop us missing it when we first walked past. We eventually entered via the small cafe style frontage to the wide back of the venue. They also have a hidden entry directly into the outside courtyard from the side laneway. I just love a hidden entrance. Tonight was cold so despite the generous outdoor heater we chose to sit indoors on the big back table.
We started with a couple of cocktails. These were made from the bar outside and delivered in. The Hemingway Daiquiri was very drinkable there was an underlying rose flavour that offset the bitterness of the ruby grapefruit, really refreshing.
We also chose the Red Ritz, this was a delicious sweet and oh so pretty cocktail with Appleton Estate, absinthe, coconut, pineapple & citrus.
I liked how well set out the menu was and we selected dishes from across the reef, barn and crop menu sections.
From the reef we tried the calamari & zucchini fritto with pickled onion, green aioli and lemon. The calamari was dusted in the most incredibly light crumb and was melt in your mouth tender, the the zucchini had a had an awesome crunch from the a semolina crumb, I really enjoyed this.
From the barn, we had the speakeasy southern fried chicken which I found succulent and crunchy, it was the perfect duo when dipped into the lemon and Siracha mayo.
A larger dish, the 12 hour slow cooked lamb came with a generous tender serve of lamb (yay), tahini yoghurt, pickled onion, beetroot, salad and roti bread. I loved making mini souvas and even added fries into the wrap for good measure.
From the crop we ordered the Mac n cheese croquettes, with peach & jalapeño jam. The sweet injection of the peach jam was a different accompaniment to the heat of the jalapeño and I liked the combination. I say the sauce was essential as without it the croquettes were quite dry.
For dessert we were excited for the cookie & brownie ice cream sandwich, topped with espresso sauce and salted nuts, this exquisite creation was cleverly balanced out with the saltiness of the crushed nuts and the coffee sauce. Very rich but I would order it again in a second.
If you can get your hands on the seasonal Swedish mulled wine it will blow your socks of this winter. This spectacular spiced wine with a hint of orange is to die for, I believe many hours were spent perfecting this recipe and I’d say they nailed it.
Not that we were still hungry but just curious... We had a peek at the breakfast menu, it had clever dishes like snow, copper and soil (carrot pancakes) and Unalaskan Benedict which had a scotch egg. We will have to come back for brunch and try these out.

Love love love this place! Great place to have brunch with friends( babies included)! The staff are so friendly and helpful. The menu was super trendy and had too many things that I wanted to try out. We tried:
The Benny: one of the best Benny’s so packed full of flavour and textures! Could not fault it!
The big speak: massive portion ( my husband loved it) and packed with meat. The beef rib was cooked well and the eggs cooked well too!
Lamb waffles: again full of flavour and the lamb was nice and tender. The crispy waffle completes the dish.
Vegi special: slightly smaller portion size compared to the other dishes but still totally yum!
I will definitely be back here to try the 10 other dishes I wanted to try :D
Great cafe with a really chilled and relaxed vibe, the girls working there are really nice and even the chefs give you a warm welcome as you are walked through to the large outdoor area out the back.
Menu offers a great range of food, have only had breakfast here but the food available on the lunch menu looks delicious as well. The rose latte is definitely a must which was recommended by the staff.
Service is great, don't need to wait long for food to come out if your super hungry.

Enjoyed the new brunch menu. I ordered the carrot cake pancakes which were really tasty. I loved the combination of flavours and the portion size was perfect. Atmosphere is bright and relaxed too.

I went with the ‘Talk Green n Gold – smoked mushroom and polenta burger with matcha brioche bun, spinach and miso mayo ($17.00)’. I also added fries (+ $3.50). The miso mayo was a highlight of this yummy vegetarian burger.

True to its name, Speakeasy hides its true self from plain sight. From the outside, you would only notice the kerbside seating, and a smattering of tables inside. Walk through the door and you will notice how you have been misled. The shopfront leads to a spacious dining area (with a function room upstairs), and from there you are further led to a beautiful covered courtyard out back. We chose to sit at the courtyard on a warm sunny day, and enjoyed the cool breeze while we ate.
The menu covers all bases. Breakfast staples, burgers, sharing plates, and more substantial dishes for dinner. We ordered from the breakfast section - the Sweet & Smoky Copper (bacon steak - yum) and the Lenny & Carl (creamy and fluffy scrambled eggs). Each component of the former worked together to create delicious flavours and distinct mouthfeel. However, the latter was let down by the creamy corn that more or less resembled corn sauce and tasted quite bland. No complains with our coffee, and the service. Both impeccable and merit a return visit.
A fun-loving restaurant and bar with a beautifully relaxing courtyard out the back to chill out with a drink, amongst friends. Service is friendly and laid back, amongst both floor staff and chefs, which is great to see. The drinks range caters to most tastes, whilst the food ranges from smaller sharing dishes, to larger main ones. Recommended dishes include the Texan Brisket Meatballs (though could use some sauce to make it a tad less dry), 12hr slow cooked lamb, and Speakeasy Hombre (fried chicken burger). Cocktails are delicious, whilst desserts present with a flare of excitement, and consist of good textural and flavour contrasts. They are also open for breakfast and lunch, catering to all meal experiences.
Looking for late breakfast whilst stocking up at Prahran Market, liked the name of this place and decided to go in. Greeted by friendly staff and showed down the back in the outdoor area. Ordered breakfast and was very happy with the food and coffee. Will be back when back at the market.
Came here for dinner on Friday night. Been here before for breakfast a few times. First time was great second time there were 4 of us and we couldn’t find anything decent on the menu. Anyway back to Friday night. The waitress was awesome and made the night. Very friendly and helpful. Offered for us to taste the wine before committing to a bottle which was a good thing as wine wasn’t good. We finally found a decent one after a few tastes. The lady was so patient! She suggested a few things on the menu which all turned out to be great... except the dessert. King prawns were yum, steak for main and chocolate mouse for desert.

Inspired by the speakeasy culture of the 20s and 30s, Speakeasy isn’t exactly a secret, nor illegal. Aside from its main dining areas, the spacious restaurant and bar has an upstairs function room, and a large, enclosed courtyard bar around the corner from the kitchen.
Absolutely revolting service, rude staff, really just a horrible atmosphere.Classy food and coffee if you want a informal meeting place, here is the place.
Been here for a brekkie. I love the atmosphere here. My friend got a skinny latte, which is amazing. I have a Ma Barker’s Blues. Love every element on the dish, except for passionfruit sauce (not a fan of passionfruit). Other than that, everything was great. Highly recommend it

We were invited to check out the new menu.
Starting off with the Housemade chicken and prawn springrolls with a well balanced Nooccham sauce was a great way to start. We also enjoyed a very tasty smoked haddock & salmon cake along with the corn cakes and spicy mayo.
Given it was a cold and busy Friday night the 1 2 hour low cooked lamb with tahini yoghurt and picklen on beetroot, salad and roti and roti bread was a very delicious open ( kind of) like souvlaki.
But the meal of the night was from the crop menu - Grilled harvest veggies with goat cheesecurd. Such a unique dish which was well balanced with the taro chips, roasted almonds and pomegranate dressing.

What a fabulous cafe to have brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks or have a function at. The cafe/restaurant caters for all, anytime. We had brunch here on a Saturday morning. It was busy however, there is a lot of seating at the front, back and courtyard and service was fantastic!
We ordered the maple bacon served with two poached eggs, mac n cheese croquettes on a bed of peach and jalapeño jam. It was delicious and loved the jam which was invented by the chef. We also loved the cocoa and peanut butter hotcakes.
This place is so good that I've booked a work function here in there function room upstairs. More photos and a review to follow.

Also my friend add a hush brown in his big breakfast , that was delicious too! Coffee was great . Reasonable price with great food .

Located on Chapel St, Speakeasy is home to a spacious area with a courtyard seating perfect for functions. I suspect that this bar would be a great setting for after work drinks, or a friendly gathering of friends over the weekend. I visited Speakeasy during the day and was quite surprised to see how quiet it was over lunch time. Staff are friendly, and attentive. Burgers and fries were nice and filling, and presented nicely. The Havana Flocker didn't quite hit the notes I hoped for. The orange blossom pana cotta had a light, subtle flavour but the texture didn't seem to be quite what it should resemble in terms of the wobble. The fruits gave a nice contrast in vibrancy in flavours, while the cinammon muesli was an interesting addition.
I've been here twice now, and both times I have agonised over what to choose - the sign of a great menu! Inside opens into a nice airy space, but the real drawcard is the courtyard out the back. Alfresco dining with braziers to keep the chill away make for ideal brunching conditions. The only issue is choosing whether to indulge in savoury or sweet. Either way, I can't go past the rose chai latte.
Slightly off the main hustle and bustle of Windsor’s side of Chapel Street, Speakeasy offers Prahran a relaxed environment that’s great for drinks, but even better for American-inspired cuisine.
With the more-than-generous serves at very affordable prices, the meals here most definitely satisfied both our hunger and our tastebuds. It’s a shame we haven’t ventured into this neighbourhood gem any sooner!

Speakeasy is exactly what you expect - a venue where you can enjoy a terrific meal and be able to "speak easy", free to relax and enjoy a simple conversation without much fuss. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant, calm and inviting, with attentive customer service that goes the extra mile. And the food is incredible too - I ordered the Speakeasy American yesterday evening, which was a winner - cooked to perfection, this beautiful burger was flavoursome, tender and easy to eat alongside a generous serve of fries and a tasty ketchup. All of the fan favourites included. Definitely worth your attention. Can't wait to return to try out other tempting items on the menu!!
Tuesday to Thursday night specials are worthy of a mention here too - good selection available for $15 each, add an extra $5 and you'll receive a house beer or wine with your meal too.

It's unpretentious and relaxed with a beautiful hidden courtyard round the back that serves as a great space for group parties or as a cosy date night spot. I for one am admittedly the sort that often will judge a place from the number of people inside - so busy = good and empty = go elsewhere. Speakeasy on the other hand did surprise me as at first glance is fairly scarce on the inside however the back courtyard was fairly packed at 6.30pm. I'd say this is thanks to great 2-for-1 espresso martini (which are delicious!) and other Happy Hour specials. I'm glad we got in early as by the time we were leaving the place was buzzing and happily filling out right up to the front.
Service was wonderful and the manager was authoritative and very helpful - explaining the menu to us and offering up advice when we were seemingly going to order too much! We also had one spunky waiter who I found quite funny and that made for a good environment. As for food, we started off with the Charcuterie Platter which came with a good selection of cured meats, chorizo, pickles and charred bread. I was hanging for some cheese but we were told for two people + mains, we would be SO full. That'll have to be for next time. We both chatted and washed this down with two Sangiovese wines which had rich flavour notes and went well with the starter.
We then had our mains. I chose the duck special which came with plum and persimmon glaze, roasted potatoes and a bed of Brussel sprouts. I loved this and thought that everything worked on the plate. It was not only beautiful presented but all the elements worked well, it's a shame that this will be off the menu! My partner chose the Barramundi with Bok Choi and Pear Barley that came with a sweet dijon sauce smeared on the plate. It was delicately plated and the fish was well cooked however I wasn't won over by all the flavours. I found the pearl barley and the sauce to be over-powering and a bit too sweet. Overall our mains were tasty and good value. We both ended with a creme brûlée that came with a shot of moonshine! The creme brûlée had yummy honey notes and wasn't overly sweet but I did like the twist with the moonshine - warmed the throat!
Overall we had a great time, the food was tasty and the space is great. The lunch specials are good value too for $15 burger/mains or $20 with a beer/wine; will definitely be backs soon to try their other dishes or come from brekkie!
UPDATE (11/11/2017): Dined for brunch and left with a full belly! Rich and creamy Turmeric Latte on Almond Milk was delicious and spicy just the way I like it. The Avo Smash was huge! So much avocado I had to trade half of the serve with my partner for some mushrooms (which came on his massive Big Brekky). I ordered an extra poached egg and really enjoyed the combination with the beetroot purée. The chunks of goats cheese which poked through was also a match made to perfection. My partner also really enjoyed the big breakfast which came with a side of relish. He was stuffed by the end of it!
Speakeasy bars were set up as secret illegal drinking dens during America’s prohibition era around the 1920s and has now, this one come back as a completely legal drinking and dining option in South Yarra. The shopfront entrance is easy to miss, being a narrow and without any distinctive signage, but that adds to the whole fun in the exclusivity of it.
Its stands out from a mile! I was in love with the inside. Its so cosy inside. Exceptional service the manager is so passionate about his job. Made our experience special. Fast and efficient sevice with good coffee, wine selection and well cooked food.
This large space was fantastic for our Sunday breakfast. Coffee was excellent and my wife went with the waitress's recommendation for hers and was very please.
Rating based on several visits for Sunday brunch in the rear open courtyard. Great food, good sized serves, healthy choice options, fair prices, friendly and competent service, nice ambience. Good spacing between large tables. Not too noisy. Overhead heater on colder mornings for some tables. Score 4/5.
But 1. Smokers allowed at brunch, 2. Coffee is weak. Score: 4->3.5.
Speakeasy has a classy yet cool vibe. The restaurants boasts a suave but hip ambience. All dishes on the menu that we tried certainly wet the palate and they take great pride in creating delicious cocktails to match your dishes and tastes. We had the salmon taco and cauliflower and Gorgonzola arrancini balls for entree- both dishes were delicious! Flavorsome and tasty beyond words. For main we had the veg curry which lacked a bit of spice and flavor (was majority barley) however the barramundi was great- full of flavour and fresh. The tiramisu dessert which comes in a takeaway box was great and melted in our mouths. Overall a fantastic experience and a beautiful heated outdoor area for the winter (accompanied well by their mulled wine!)

I think I died and went to food heaven today. Speakeasy delivered on every front!
The restaurant is pretty and stylish, and nice and warm inside!
The service is 10/10. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. The chef chatted to us over the pass and all the wait staff were lovely and so attentive. When our mains were brought out, we said to put them in the middle of the table so we could share and less than a split second later, one of the waitresses had already brought us two extra small plates. It's small details like that which are really appreciated.
The food was on another level!
We ordered the creole beans, corn bread, Avocado & smoky relish, and the Lamb shawarma. The food was INCREDIBLE! Mind-blowing, even!
Josh and I just kept looking at each other in disbelief at how delicious it was. I couldn't fault or change on thing! It was perfection.
We also got some coffees, I ordered a coffee milkshake and we got some coffees to go as well.
I couldn't fault my experience at Speakeasy.

Had dinner and drinks with friends on Saturday night at the Speakeasy on Chapel street, it has a pretty broad menu with lots of options. I had the lamb with flatbread and salad, it was really nice. The sides we ordered to share were also delicious, particularly the roasted vegetables with goats cheese was amazing! Staff are really friendly too!

Have been here a few times now and just love it, tucked away from all the bustle and standing well against other places in a busy restaurant hood, this places has exactly what you need. Interesting food, portions that give enough to share with curious friends and won't leave you going hungry.
Ducked in here for lunch with the greatest friend and her new born and staff were super helpful and sweet with her buggy and the chef was even joking with us about minding the baby while we ate, which gave us both a really lovely vibe and helped us to chill even when the littlest one got a little antsy. Coffee was top notch too.
Have also been here for late night dinner with a group and again cannot fault it.,lots of diverse things on the menu and they didn't bat an eye when one of the party mentioned his allergies to garlic and onion. Sat out underneath the stars the night out the back and with the bar heaters on you don't even notice whatever the weather Melbourne was throwing at us. Definitely worth checking out, more than once.

Cool hidden space off Chapel St, I liked the relaxing outdoor area at the back with the bar! Having espresso martinis on the drink specials always wins me over. Oysters were fresh. Shoestring fries were seasoned well.

Speakeasy is my number 1 go to spot in Melbourne! Best hidden backyard patio, great atmosphere, amazing drink selection and high quality, delicious food. The slow cooked lamb is out of this world, and you can't pass up the 2 for 1 espresso martinis at happy hour. Staff are wonderful! Highly recommend!!
Perfect location for brunch or a quiet afternoon drinks sesh. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and I've found the food well priced and delicious. It was always hard to find a place for brunch after sat morning gym session so this is the perfect place if you have a big group as there are several large tables to fit everyone. And the function space upstairs is a perfect place for a special event.

Ever seen a restaurant this big? For the longest time, I thought the large L-shaped building which is Speakeasy was actually two separate establishments! You can get into this resto from either Malvern Road or Chapel St, which is a testament to its size. The Malvern Road entrance gives you that laneway bar and coffee feel, as you walk past a big mural and into a garage type eating and drinking space. The Chapel St entry is much more Chapel St, with a sophisticated cafe-style fit out. The real hot place in this establishment is the angular part of the L-shape where the two styles meet. It's a bar, it's a cafe. Interior design, if nothing else, is truly unique.
The food here is ok, I've eaten avocado toast which was fine and a croissant, which was the good type. The drinks of this menu are what really set it apart though. These guys were early on the matcha latte vibe, offering both warm and iced options depending on your mood and weather. You can get these with all types of milks or mylks. I don't think there was coconut milk though, which is my favourite. There's also iced coffee and I think I even went for the traditional route of the long black. Was good enough that I could not complain ;) Take your friends here if you want to show them how unique a restaurant can be.
At the Prahran end of Chapel St, this kitchen bar offers a well priced menu with some tasty options. Food was rated 4/5: the chicken burger was very well cooked with a great flavour from the dill mayo and mustard. Veg burger was super tasty, with very generous amounts of haloumi. Drinks were the let down: no beer or cider taps were working and many of the bottle options were unavailable. Service was friendly and efficient. Outdoor courtyard was lovely and warm on a cold winters day. Great place, though when we return I hope the drink taps are working!
Had a very very late breakfast here. Seated outside, had heaters thank god otherwise we would have frozen ! The menu had a good array of items I chose the pulled pork Benedict, others had the baked beans and smashed avo! All were good except the serving sizes are quite small for what you pay....
Great place! Stopped in for a coffee and loved it. Spoilt for choice on chapel street but this is up there at the top!
Not only is it a great place for coffee/lunch, the little hidden garden bar goes off on the weekends. Well covered so no matter what season of weather is currently smashing Melbourne, you still remain warm and dry. Amazing atmosphere!

This place is the bomb! Pity I don't live across the road from Speakeasy Kitchen Bar anymore. Cocktails are 10/10, food is 10/10 and venue is really cool. Staff are super friendly too which is always good ;) thanks a lot for your hospitality guys!
A quiet and hidden cafe/bar, we visited for breakfast on Saturday morning. The service was quick and attentive, although they did make you feel a bit rushed. The menu is limited, but has some interesting dishes, like my pulled pork benedict which was great except for the over-salted pulled pork. The coffee was average.
I recently visited Speakeasy for their Mother's Day Lunch, it was my first time there and it did not disappoint. The inside decor is beautifully simple and we were greeted by three different staff members on our way to our table. The food was beautiful, and generous. The free gift for all mothers was also a lovely addition to the lunch. I will definitely be back!
Food was delicious. We got the porkbelly, Mac and cheese balls, chicken grain salad was delicious with lots in it and a very nice dressing. The corn was a great touch. Also shared the Reuben which was delicious, the sauce and sauerkraut was very good. They were out of a few options on the menu, we would have loved to try the ribs.
Antigoni Hantzolos easily one of the nicest freshest breakfasts I've had in a long time. Had eggs and sides, and my girlfriend had the avocado bruschetta and it was beautiful. Simple clean food and fresh produce!! Loved it. Coffee was also fantastic. Super friendly staff, great service but not that annoying over service or fake niceness, just perfect. Will def be back again!! 5 stars!!!
This is the 2nd time I've been here and both times I've throughly enjoyed my food. Great flavours in a cool surrounding. Got the stuffed mushrooms breakfast dish and it lacked salt but that was easily solved by the salt on the table and did not greatly affect my appreciation of the dish.
Called in for breakfast, was worried that it was nearly empty, but found the service fast, staff lovely, great Coffee and my beetroot cured salmon was delicious.
Came here for lunch I wasn't expecting much but oh my lord the gnocchi was EXQUISITE, maybe even the best I've ever had! Thank you speakeasy:)
A solid, if unspectacular place to eat. It has a nice outdoor area and a menu that offers comforting, well-made food. A step up from most of the South Yarra dreck.
I had breakfast at this joint over the weekend. The food was good and the ambience is nice. Overall a good place for beaky on busy chapel street.
Coffee is always excellent here. Gets very busy on the weekends. Great courtyard in the back which catches the afternoon sun. Staff are always welcoming and smiling (-:
On the main strip of Chapel Street you’ll find many stores with small entryways, Speakeasy is not an exception. But, walk down the hallway and it deceptively opens up into a large dining area with a pretty neat outdoor setting complete with a bar. Parking is available on the street and down a few side streets, but you’d be expecting a mix of one or two hour spots, unless you come after hours.
On an icy Melbourne eve, The Plus Ones team headed on over to Speakeasy on Chapel St. An icy eve -- you know the type. Bone chilling, eight degrees, feels like minus four. So the prospect of being nourished inside a speakeasy was just delightful!. As we entered we were whisked up stairs to a secret space. Ok, so it's not meant to be secret but it's away from the main section and I wouldn't have stumbled on it without being shown. I'm calling it, it's secret. And what a space! White-washed walls, viewsÂover Chapel St, candle lit. It was a gorgeous find and is perfect for an intimate birthday, sophisticated dinner party, or a night of speakeasy-style debauchery.
Visited speakeasy for lunch. Got the calamri. the staff where friendly and service was quick. The meal was good, with the rocket salad being a stand out. The calamri was cooked well but was too salty. Less salt and it would have been perfect. Minor issue however so I still rate and would return.
I came here for a work brunch so my meal was paid for. Take that in mind when reason my review. However while there, I thought it was a very nice place.
I'll start with ambiance because that's the first thing I noticed. This was a very pretty place (and larger than I thought it would be). Everything looked very bright, and coming to a place like this for a coffee in the morning would be nice. Good environment to talk in as well.
The food was very nice too. We had set appetisers, but chose from 4 options of mains. The highlight was actually the appetisers. These were very nicely made.
I got the calamari for a main, which I thought was a bit to salty, but I don't eat seafood much so I may not be the best judge. The chai lattes though we're splendid.
Overall, I thought it was a very nice place, perfect for coffee and lunch, but id love to go again and give it a proper review. For now, I'll give a 4 :)

Great pub and my favourite go to along Chapel st. Outdoor seating is mint as is indoor and the garden bar, plenty of space. Generous happy hour too (4-7 Monday to Friday). I ate the barramundi and was impressed with the quality of food. My partner had the burger and loved it.
Great work temperance hotel. I wasn't pleasantly surprised, or surprised in any way - actually I didn't think much at all what the temperance hotel should be, as I had never been, or at least cant remember having gone, unless I had been before the renovations which I'm guessing were a few years ago,but which, to their credit, dont seem distant even if they were a few years old, owing I guess to the odd treatment of the walls in the male toilet which I reckon is pretty timeless. Anyway I had a good time cheers

It's an old favourite. Good for people and car watching and a cold beer. Our dog loves sitting udder the table snapping up any morsels that fall from our plates. The fried cauliflower... although not really healthy was a fabulous snack to share. Yum!!!!
Came here for the bottomless Mexican 6-8pm selected days. Margs, beer and house wines on menu. Food was plenty and they catered for my diatary requirements. Only fault was that no one came to check on us during the 2 hour.
