Amazing food every time! Service is always great and even though the food is sometimes a wait, (which is understandable due to high demand and busy service) it's always worth it! I go to Sam Sam so often I think some of the staff recognise me sometimes! � My favourite food ever!

Got the beef bibimbap for lunch and it was decent. Pretty good price for a filling lunch. It was a little hard to get service at times though. The space is quite small so you have to navigate around closely packed tables to get to the back area.
I am always order fried chicken and spicy noodle. It is really tasty and decent Korean food. I've tried many korean food places but Sam sam is one of the best place for Korean chicken. Strongly recommend.

A very popular korean fried chicken bar, I see a line outside every time I walk along Swanston Street. Another LIVEN app deal review to add to my cheap eats collection. Visited on a Friday night, we were advised the wait was about 20 minutes, we got given a token rather than a name drop system. As it was a cold night, we decided to wait inside. All other guests waited outside. And because we waited inside the waiter who gave us the token couldn’t find us and thought we had not bothered waiting… So we actually got served later than we should be. We were lucky that a different waiter (female) asked us what we were waiting for. Don’t do what we did… suggest you either tell the waiter you’ll wait inside or stay outside like the rest of the waiting gang!
I visited SamSam this evening for the first time, I was very pleased. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The place was very busy, yet staff were very calm and collected and had everything under control. As soon as we ordered, food was on our table within minutes. Tonight we ordered the boneless chicken, chicken schnitzel and spicy fire chicken. It was all delicious and we'll definitely be coming back again. I would really like to try the noodles too next time!

Always my go to when it comes to eating out. Aside from the amazing service, the food is fairly priced and delicious! Don't have to wait too long to be served as there is always someone nearby.
Went there on the last day of August and it was great！I love the atmosphere and also the staff there are friendly. I love the 치킨까스 and the cheese sticky rice. Next time I am gonna try the fried chicken there！Recommend this place.

I ordered Chicken Schnitzel with Chips, it took a while around 5 mins and my meal ready to go. The packaging is very simple! They really placed it and everything looks nice. It’s a big portion for me including the salad. Great taste and very easy to eat with just a fork.

Decided to visit this place on a Friday night. It’s popular as we waited, but it wasn’t too long until we got a seat. We ordered drinks and food quickly and the food came out quick also! It was different, not entirely my thing but it still tasted nice and would come back again as I enjoyed the vibe!
This restaurant doesn't allow booking so we had to wait for quite a long time (30-40 mins). But food is great, price is reasonable, a great place to hang out with friends.

Fried chicken is delicious here, cooked really juicy and crispy. Spicy flavour was good and really spicy. The soy garlic was quite sweet. Bimbimbap was good too. Host could have been more organised though. She gave us a number and asked us to wait outside, then 2 people walked in and she gave them a table straight away. There also needs to be better communication between the waiters as one forgot to cross the numbers out on the board and another waiter would go outside and call that number for ages lol. When they had already gotten their table.
I would rate about 3.5 because I got a chicken curry with kbbq chicken in it. Chicken was nice and curry was a but average. I think if i just had the chicken it could he nicer. It was affordable and service was quick and efficient. Not personal but it did the job. For a quick lunch and say it was nice.
Came here after craving chicken and this was for sure the place to soothe my cravings. There was a really really long wait for chicken around like 30-40 minutes and we got sweet chilli half chicken. It was really good and I would for sure come again but order more this time !
This is the place to go to for great sweet sticky chicken followed by a beer. The staff are efficient. The ambience is quite modern with a hint of industrial chic. Great flavours
Sam Sam is not great, but it's good. Compared to some other Korean spots around, this one feels catered towards the Western palette and has a semi fast casual vibe to it (both of which are downsides for me). That being said, they've expanded their menu to include several veggie items. I tried the very spicy chilled peanut noodle salad which was nice in flavour but way too saucy. I also shared some tteokbokki which, thanks to their extra chewy texture, were great. Heads up that there may be a wait, as this place gets busy, and you'll have to be down with either sharing a table or having a tiny one to yourself.

Trendy little Swanston St location, fantastic, helpful staff. We ordered the 2 chicken for 2, the kimchi fries, pickled radishes and beer. All was really nice, the lemon mayo chicken was crunchy and juicy inside and the hot was very well spiced and sticky (good sticky)
the kimchi fries didnt really have a fermented flavour you look for in kimchi but was a great addition to the fries and complemented the mayo nicely. Beer was a cheap clean Korean beer which i cant remember the name of (possibly too much beer lol) which went perfectly with the style of food, i dont think a full bodied traditional beer would have been pleasant. served on metal trays and American diner style baskets. will most definetely return with friends. Good work
A great spot in the heart of the CBD to get your Korean fix! Their fried chicken was pretty good, but would have loved a better portion of chicken (it was mixed with potato wedges). The tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) were good - loved all the cheese on top! Their house salad went really well with the meal - they used a nice yuzu (I think) dressing which was really refreshing.

They have many choices for lunch though they are famous for fried chicken. We try the pork ribs, which is the best and enough for two girls. The others taste average and size is little small. And chick soup with rice is worse because of pure water tasty.

didn't take a photo of all dishes because we were too hungry! But I was actually surprised at how spacious and "Korean" the restaurant looked. They are well known for their "chimaek" chicken and beer, so we knew we had to get the chicken. The fried chicken was fried to perfection, I was shocked at how juicy and tender the boneless chicken were because boneless fried chicken are normally very dry and flavourless but this one was a mindblower. Crispy, light yet delightful flavour it was pretty much one of the best KFC's I've tried. Japchae on rice was unique and quite yummy, loved the bouncy yet sweet noodles bind with tender beef and you have a cheap yet delicious meal. Schnitzel is mediocre, its not their well known dish so I wouldn't recommend getting it but the mayonnaise they put on it was good. Kimchi fired rice was soooo good, they used well fermented Kimchi which gave it such an umami flavour to it, it wasn't that spicy which I didn't really like but the spam serving was generous! remember to leave the rice to settle down on the sizzling plate if you want a crispy bottom. Service was rather quick, they didn't check upon us but didn't seem too enthusiastic serving us either! Overall enjoyed Sam Sam and would be back for their KFC and Japchae. Its kinda affordable as well!!
For a good weekend dinner, this was an ideal place as we ordered fire chicken with cheese. The taste is too good and the chicken was spicy with enough of cheese. The samsam salad was served with few drops of sweet lime.

You can't go wrong with Sam Sam's SOY GARLIC FLAVOURED CHICKEN! As well as the CRISPY RICE CAKE its DA BOMB! Lol. Absolutely love this place even though the dining area is not as spacious yet it's a nice casual dine in!
First we had the stir fried potato starch noodle 'japchae' on rice in the mushroom option. Flavours were well balanced with a sesame kick to it. Rice was nice n sticky and the highlight for us was the shitake mushrooms. I'd personally have liked more as I enjoyed it so much. Recommend this yummy homey meal! Next we had the hot n spicy boneless chicken. The chicken itself was decent and came in good proportions when compared to some other Korean fried chicken joints. The sauce was delicious and well balanced - both sweet and spicy without being intense. Liked that the sauce was superfluous but it did make the chicken on the soggy end rather than being crispy. Added bonus was the wedges in the sauce too. Both very good dishes.
The amount of food we got for 2, matched the prices really well. They had fast and friendly service and the food tasted great :) we waited around 10-15 minutes to receive everything and the entree came out really quick.
The fried chicken from here was so good 👌🏼 we got the original half size and it was both crispy and juicy! I really want to try the ones with sauce next time.
We also got the creamy kimchi fried rice which was really nice. It wasn’t super oily or creamy which was good however I didn’t taste much of the kimchi flavour. Still worthwhile trying though!

Really vibrant place, great to catch with with friends while sharing a drink and fried chicken. We like the boneless chicken, easier to eat, and can order two different flavours (half/half). The sweet chilli flavour is my favourite. The cold noodle salad also very tasty.
The soy & mustard chicken was superrrrrrb. Worth the money tbh. Highly recommended. Definitely gonna go there next time to try other flavours.

Great place to drink! Generally a good spot for cheap drinks or a hangout spot before a night out. Type is all good vibes as well but can get overcrowded at peak times. The food is great, it's yummy it comes out fast and they have some pretty cool Korean beers. Service was pretty good considering it got very busy, very quickly. Overall a good experience, and a safe solid option if you’re craving Korean fried chicken.
Ordered the half and half full sized boneless chicken. Large portions and we chose the sweet spicy and original with honey mustard. The honey mustard when drizzled on the original is actually really good!
This place gets very busy and they dont take bookings. Gotta get in early to nab a table. They have large tables here for groups unlike Gami chicken and beer. The servings here are large and good value for money. Boneless chicken with honey mustard and spring onion is my must try.

The chicken here is one of the best I’ve had and i wonder why the reviews are not so good. I dont recommend getting this delivered as uber always stuffs it up but if you do please don’t blame the restaurant.. I’ve done both and eating in my s always best, good service, fast and big portions
Came here more than 2 times! Their kimchi fries is a must~ basically it was fried fries topped with small cut kimci and so on and on.

Always keen for a bite here with friends, although the fried chicken isn’t particularly amazing, it is satisfactory. Sometimes it can be a little dry, but it does have a good taste.
If I’m eating alone I usually order japchae, love the texture of the noodles, it’s seasoned well and the portion size is generous it also comes with rice which keeps you feeling full.
The service has been friendly and welcoming each time I’ve been, it’s a great little spot for a decent bite
Been there and had fried chicken and some snacks. Fried chickens served with multiple flavours and none of them was bad. Drinks were delicious and chilli rice cake was irresistible. Didn’t order main course but definitely it’s a good place for snack.
Tasty chicken and cold beer, great timeless combination. I always order the boneless spicy chicken (no need to order chips or wedges with it as it comes with wedges mixed with the chicken). On a spicy scale it’s pretty mild but it is definitely tasty.

Love their fried chicken, but only for the original fried. The other types (spicy or honey coated etc) were horrible. Sides are great. So you really need to know what to order or you might get a bad experience.
Got the kimchi-loaded fries, bibimbap, a whole boneless spring onion chicken, and a half and half original and sweet/spicy chicken with bone for a group of 4. The kimchi-loaded fries were a great addictive side to have, and the bibimbap was of decent size with the typical variety of ingredients expected (good to balance out the strong flavours of the chicken and fries).
The chicken was a little dry, but saucy and well-flavoured. The spring onion chicken was definitely the favourite out of the 3 flavours. Only recommendation would be to go for the boneless option as some of the pieces for the half and half chicken were just battered bits of bone with very little to no flesh, which was a little disappointing. Service was pretty good considering it got very busy, very quickly. Overall a good experience, and a safe solid option if you’re craving Korean fried chicken in the heart of the CBD.
I ate the original half chicken. I have to say I was blown away by the size of it. But the star is the taste of the chicken. The bird is prepared quite well. I am very well sure I didn’t make a bad choice here. Oh! And try those chicken soups. They are hella tasty! And satisfying.

I'm surprised that this place does not have high rating. Me and my friends were just walking past by and decided to go in very randomly. But the chicken is very good. We order a full boneless chicken with soy and garlic flavor. For drink we went for grape soju. Everything was very nice we girls got addicted to the taste after the first bite haha. My friends liked the white radish so much that we had to ask for more. If you are a fan of Korean chicken and cuisine you cannot miss this place.

We have been here many times ! The fried chicken here is super goood! We had the soy chicken, crispy rice cake and chicken soup. The only dish we didnt really enjoy is the chicken soup, no favour! The rest were so yum and We would recommend you to try the soy chicken!
The other thing we don’t like about this place is that they put the tables to close together. When they are busy we cant really hear each other talking as everyone in the restaurant try to talk at the same time
Quite average in terms of korean fried chicken in comparison to other places. Would say the kimchi fries were really addictive the first time but haven't felt the same about them ever since. DEFINITELY did enjoy the Beef tatare there, with their wonton crisps to perfectly balance the flavour.
I’ve been to Sam Sam a number of times and it has never disappointed me. I usually get the spicy it honey soy boneless fried chicken and kimchi fries, which are always super tasty. It has a very nice bar vibe and the service is good.
Wondered into Sam Sam as my colleague wanted to have Korean food for lunch. We were not disappointed. We ordered the kimchi fried rice and the Korean fried chicken wings in garlic soy sauce.
The kimchi fried rice has spam and a fried egg. It was delicious. The portion size was a little small for its price I feel. But that was overlooked as it was yummy. The chicken wings were freshly deep fried, crispy upon arrival. The garlic soy sauce was not overly salty. It was perfect, just the way I like it. Portion size was ok for the wings.
Would love to come back to try other items in the menu.

The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The basket was loaded with fries, but we still asked for more.

Pretty decent! The chicken was crunchy and juicy. The prawn dumpling and mozzarella cheese sticks were also solid 👌🏼 I liked that they give the option if you want the sauce to be pour on the chicken directly or you want it as a dip. But the coleslaw tho 😩 so much ketchup on it, it’d be a lot better if the dressing wasn’t ketchup.
Delicious Korean food! The menu has a great range of reasonably priced food. There are some cheaper options which are still filling ($12.80-15.80) and some more expensive options ($18+) for yourself or to share. I had the chicken with egg and mayo on rice for $15.80. It was delicious and filling. Service is good. A Korean grape juice cost $3 for a very small can. I’ve been here twice before and will definitely be back again.

The only flavour I did not enjoy was the 양념 치긴. It was sickly sweet and 0 chilli. I have had very nice sweet chilli fried chicken from other places but the seasoning here was very very thick, it had a super sticky tacky coating and it was very difficult to get down. Get sweet chilli chicken if you like candy chicken though, just not my cup of tea.
First time trying Korean fried chicken. It's crisper with less batter than traditional southern fried chicken that we are used to. I ordered the spicy, which has a hint of sweetness but not very hot. Closer to thai sweet chili than say, buffalo style. But it does go well with a light Korean lager as their name suggests. Another attraction is the robotic short order cook. There goes someone's after school job.

Took our family of five for an early dinner, which was good as we got a booth in the basement before it got busy around 6pm. When we walked out there was a line out front.
Food was tasty, but portions felt like they were 15% too small for what you pay and compared to other Korean places. We ordered the Beef Bulgogi for the kids, Kimchi Spam Fried Rice and Stone Bimbimbap. In the end we enjoyed our experience. We should come back to try the fried chicken.
