Homey Indo food restaurant.
Came in a Saturday during lunch time but it was quiet. There was a glass display of cooked dishes but we opt for the menu. The staff was so lovely and food took a reasonable time. Cutleries and water are self serve.
Iga bakar or grilled ribs was phenomenal. Nicely marinated and was on point with flavor, oerfect balance between the meat and fat and generous with it too! Tempeh and tofu were perfextly fried with the tofu seasoned (a lil bit salty though) and a mixture of red and green chilli (sambal) which were yummy.
Bebek goreng was also yummy, it was so well seasoned and crispy on the outside! just tad bit dry at some parts but otherwise lovely.
Lastly gado2 was so loved by my Japanese friends, though having known how it is supposed to taste it's not that authentic. The veggies used were the salad mix and the sauce lacked sweet and a spicy kick, was also bit too thick too. Despite that there was tempeh, tofu, potatoes and boiled eggs. I just wished they implement more authentic ingredients, especially the sauce.
Overall a really great place for some satisfying and yummy Indonesian cuisine!

Best Indonesian food option in Melbourne with reasonable price. I usually buy the lunch special menu but the crispy fried duck and nasi goreng petai ikan (fried rice) are my favorites!
Great and fast service, cheap and tasty Indonesian food! Big fan of the rendang! The portions could be larger, but otherwise it's a solid choice!
I want to give 3.5 actually, the grilled ribs taste is okay but the chilies not so good because it multi-purpose. You can choose 2 meal for $9 here and everyday they change the meal. The service was quick and very friendly.
Love the food especially the ayam penyet and the eggplant. The Iga is cook to perfection. This place is the most generous place as you could get extra yummy sambal. Favourite place for my food to go to.
Traditional Indonesian food. Located near University of Melbourne, and their price point caters for students. Good value. Hearty options. Many vegetarian options available. It’s a casual dining venue but if you want to try something different but authentic, then go here.
First time come to this indonesian restaurant, i thought they’ll have variety bain marie dishes but it was so limited choices, i don’t eat beef and they don’t have chicken/fish dishes on bain marie so I have to choose from the menu. I tried ayam bakar, surprisingly come with a good presentation, chicken size was quite small, taste ok, the sambal was so spicy. I might come back again to try other menu.
So far the best Indonesian restaurant that I’ve tried since coming to Melbourne! My friends and I can’t go a week without eating here, as the food is amazing and the staffs are lovely, not to mention the reasonable price! Go for the grilled duck! I promise you won’t be sorry:)
Stopped by here for lunch. Had their lunch special - 2 choices with rice for $8.90. Selected the beef rendang, kale with tofu and a small scoop of sambal together with rice. Beef rendang came slightly bland, but overall it was a nice lunch. They had A&W Root Beer which I also had.
Yummy, yummy and great value! The a la carte menu doesn't convey the lunch special bargain of 3 choices + rice for $9.90 -- delicious, healthy, great value. My new lunch favourite!!
Great Indonesian restaurant and good value for money! I loveeeeee the eggplants sooo much! Good customer service and you get free fruits too!
I came just after theyre open, and all the menu was freshly cooked. I had the eggplant and rendang with rice while my friend had the rendang burger. The eggplant was so juicy and sweet, perfect combination with the hot steamed rice. My friend said the burger was delicious and was only $7. Will definitely come back to try the other menu. Cheap, delicious, and filling!
A favourite regular place for office lunch time. Beautiful, wholesome Indonesian food, at an affordable price. They make a point that they don't add msg, which is pretty rare for an Indonesian joint. $10 for lunch that would fill you up, can't go wrong.
Been here a few times now, ordered off the menu and the ready to go lunch specials. Great little place which is good in its own right but even better when you can't be bothered waiting in line at Don Tojo. It's unlucky they are next door because this place would be even busier otherwise. Today I went all vego with egg plant, fried tofu, soy beans and greens plus steamed veg all delicious and hearty. The rendang isn't very spicy from memory so some may find it bland others just right. I always get chilli so I'm ok either way. Off the menu the crispy chicken was cooked to crispy perfection and still soft inside. Can't go wrong at 9.90 for three dishes or about 13ish off the menu
It's my first time to try Indonesian dishes
It is amazing!!! Really love it!
Reasonable price with really friendly service
The meatball soup is delicious and tasted more like traditional Chinese soup ,although kind of oily .
Nice to find this excellent place!
An underrated place that lives up to its motto "Serving good Indonesian food".
Food: They serve amazing Indonesian food such as Beef Rendang, Tahu Goreng and Eggplant Balado, that I can confirm to be authentically Indonesian. Also, they serve really cool Indonesian fusion foods, such as Kale Cap Cay.
For only $9.00 (two choices of dishes) you get a fulfilling plate of Indo food with a generous portion. Moreover it's only like 10 minutes from UniMelb which is perfect for uni students to have lunch.
Sadly this place is located next to Don Tojo, which is a cheaper alternative.
very aunthentic indonesian food... big portion with reasonable pricing... need an asian fix.. this should do job.. rendang is nice.. mee goreng is quite dissapointed. .
Delicious authentic Indonesian food. In my opinion better than Es Teler who used to be in the same location. The sambal was super delicious and hot. Will eat again.
Great Indonesian Food. The price is good, the seafood nasi goreng as well as the beef rendang. Absolutely loving it!!
Will definitely coming back again and again
I come here at least once a week. Love their green and red chilli here! If u don't wanna be disappointed, order their beef ribs. I'm surprised I don't see many patrons here on each visit. Ppl need to try this new place! Price is on a steeper side as compared to its competitor next door.
Tasty, authentic, though on the slightly pricey side.. Jokamz is a small Indonesian restaurant in Carlton that has taken over what used to be Es Teler. Prices are on the higher side for Asian food (think $12 plus for individual meals) but the servings are generous. I had the deep-fried duck and tempeh and tofu with rice today while my partner ordered the grilled beef ribs. The duck was a little on the dry side but crispy nonetheless and went splendidly well with their delicious sambal which has both red and green chillies. The ribs were moist, tender and fall-apart-at-the-bones with a kicap manis sweet glaze. Again their sambal was a winner and a perfect complement. My suggestion would to be provide more sambal on request as it is truly delicious. Definitely worth a return visit.
Sweet and Sour Fish. Sweet and sour fish

The fried duck, fried chicken, and grilled ribs are great. The others are so-so. Bainmarie selections are limited...
