Julie and Frank are friendly and very accommodating. Food was delicious and large portions, very generous. Tableware and plating makes you want to eat it. A must for North Melbourne breakfast scene!
Lovely place to have breakfast. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Such good prices for the size of the meals and quality! Had the big breakki it was massive was a great meal and lovely to have a vegetarian option for my friend.
Staff: 4.5/5
Food: 4/5
Decor: 3.5/5
Price: 4/5
Will return? Yes if in the area
Lovely staff and tasty good portioned food. Had the steak sanga and omelette. Julie the main waitress was lovely! Will be back for sure!
Service was a little slow to start off but definitely finished on a good note. The pulled lamb was a little oily which made the toast underneath soggy but the flavour was yummy! Overall Toast was a great find!
My girlfriend and I are vegetarian and vegan respectively. The waiter happily advised on options/substitutions for the big breakfast and avocado smash. Tasty food and great service on a very hot Melbourne day.
I liked the atmosphere and the lady serving was friendly. Ordered the lamb souvlaki which came with salad and tzatziki which was delicious but some parts of the lamb a bit fatty. There were olives included which gave it a nice zing. The shoe string fries were covered in a lemon-herb sprinkle which made them addictive in that we couldn't stop eating them. The burger and milkshakes are good too although the servings are too large for us to finish.
Best service of any cafe or restaurant in Melbourne. Each time I have been the service has been absolutely outstanding. Previously had the steak sandwich which was yum but I was disappointed with the chicken burger.
Great place! Simple but fantastic food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Diner / cafe vibe. Came for breakfast and will be back to try lunch at some stage in the near future. Highly recommend.
A clean, warm and welcoming cafe located in North Melbourne with friendly staff members.
We had their bacon and egg roll with cheese and optional tomato or BBQ sauce and we have tried one of each sauce and I really recommend trying this, they make a mean bacon and egg roll, it may be oily from the bacon but it goes very well with all ingredients, the Turkish bread is awesome.
Tried their big toast breakfast and I like that you can change it to the vegetarian option which we did, it was a proper breakfast, However there were some bites of the spinach where it was really salty and not mixed thoroughly, the scrambled egg could have been better, it was too bunched up and just over cooked. Probably try poached or sunny side up next time but wouldn't try it again in awhile, I'd try something different on the menu.
The coffees were pretty good, I didn't order my iced coffee with ice cream, they give you a piece of dark chocolate on the side which is pretty cool.
Definitely would return for the bacon and egg roll and I'd try something different on the menu :)
Take your lover, friends or family here for some brekky.
Really nice feel to this cafe with a nice large and open space but still a sense of the cosy. Genuinely friendly staff, good coffee and ambience had me idling away an hour prior to an appointment with ease. Only had toast fittingly, as a snack, however next time I'm in the area, substantial from the menu will be the go. Food looked great.
Atmosphere is great, friendly and inviting staff. The food was amazing, would have loved to finish my meal, however, they were really big. Definitely coming back again, might share my food with others next time.
Outstanding breakfast. Somewhat hungover, I went for the big breakfast option and was rewarded with an excellent array of items in big portions. Coffee good, service attentive. Very recommend
Lovely coffee, even comes with a choccie treat and they also have lactose free milk for the bloke!
The smashed avocado, feta, poached eggs breakfast is huge - add some spinach or smoked salmon and it easily feed 2, leaving room for a yummy cake to share. Staff are lovely and the vegies & herbs in pots help buffer the traffic noise and give the place a great feel.
Quite a lovely cafe at North Melbourne. It is not as busy as Auction Room down the same street, so we decided to give it a try. Their Vittoria coffee was surprisingly good and come with a piece of Vittoria dark chocolate for the price of $3.50! We had the pulled pork with a side of bacons to share. Generous portion. The 2 poached eggs that came with the pulled pork were however slightly over cooked as the yolk wasnt runny as I expected it to be for a perfectly poached egg. The apple chutney and harissa hollandaise were delicious! Overall the dish is a bit rich and could use a bit more greens to balance it out. The few peashoots looks more like garnishing but it did add a bit of crunch to it. Will return even just for the coffee!
Always a reliably good cafe. Some stand-outs: • most people rave about the pulled pork breakfast, but one of my favs is the smashed avocado, feta, poached eggs breakfast. And if you're a carnivore, then ask for a side of bacon. They way they cook the bacon is devine. • coffee is consistently good, no matter who makes it. • they are open early on the weekends (7am). All the other cafes in the area don't open until 8am or later. • they happily welcome dogs in the outside area.
Great little cosy place. Fast and friendly service. Food is great. The pulled pork is absolutely amazing! Good coffee too. We like to come here to chat and relax in the morning sometimes. Fine to share a main.
A local favourite for my boyfriend and I. A great local cafe that holds its head up high against the North Melbourne brunch giants but I say drop by here if you want some good, tasty, rustic but still creative food. Love that they always serve a small piece of chocolate with their coffee!
Let me begin by saying that the staff here are amazing. So optimistic and attentive. The food was delicious, however I would have liked my eggs a bit more runny. Service was quite quick. I really liked the environment, very relaxed.
Beautiful welcoming atmosphere with complimenting staff. Coffee was not only stunning to look at, but the taste matched.
Was even more delighted to get my accompanying chocolate, this only made my experience more fabulous.
I've found my coffee venue for North Melbourne!
Great food, and excellent service, had friends over from New Zealand they loved the quality of food and service also. The Specials are always on point and a good value for money.

+3.5
I was with a friend strolling along Errol Street looking for a late lunch when I came across Toast. Really good ambience and customer service. The menu was really exciting and modern Australian in a sense. We ordered the Moroccan style omelette and Dukkah poached eggs; both of which were delicious. They also have Mexican sodas which were totally yumm. Definitely visiting this cafe again.
Very nice food that comes with friendly customer service, it has always been a good experience when I've dropped into Toast along Errol Street.
Have had a few lovely breakies come brunches here. Always a nice standard. No one at the table has ever had a complaint about the food. Cheery, friendly staff as well.
So, last Sunday, me and my friend went out for a late morning brekkie. So we decided to go all green and healthy, Greek salad and Chick pea salad was what we ordered and I also asked for a Vittoria coffee. The serving portions were sufficient enough to have it for two meals. The salads were fresh and delicious. I like the coffee as well. Staff is very courteous. I would prefer sitting outside, it gives you a very pretty morning, road side, English breakfast feel.
Very nice place, cool layout and interior. Food was good, not amazing but satisfying. I would come back again. Didn't try the coffee. I'd like to try other meals here.
Had a lovely breakfast at Toast this morning.... met all expectations of a Melbourne cafe, staff might need the usual little rev-up but all-in-all very good, Thanks, Tony
Went to the launch of this funky cafe on the weekend.
New layout, new staff, new menu. Very impressive.
Was very welcomed on arrival and the staff accomodating with seating arrangements.
I ordered the chicken burger sliders which were very yummy!! The coffee also was at the highest of standards. The decor is pretty cool. A real retro feel and some amazing artwork that is worth seeing.
Great brekkie spot; Friendly, quick service, good value for money, salsa eggs were very tasty. The only downer was my girlfriend's smoothie was lacking in banana flavour (used real banana, but perhaps not quite ripe enough). All in all, however, a really laid back feed. I'll definitely be back!
We went there on Groupon. Absolutely Love it!
Generous serving of food. Simple but great food :)
And coffee was good too. Will go back to pay normal price
Loved the big breaky, the smashed avocado was my favourite. I couldn't finish all of it because there was just way too much food. Absolutely great value for money! I would love to come back again and again.
Great Caffe!. Well priced and delicious food with generous servings.
Who doesn't love an all day breakfast??
Great service as well! We have a little dog who joined us for our meal and without being asked, they brought out a bowl of water for him.
Definitely coming back here again :)
Very friendly staff and a great cheap breaky. I had the salsa eggs which were amazing and my partner had the big breaky which he also loved. The large fresh juice was big, cold and full of flavour. Our host was attentive and very nice. I'll be back.
Great food, friendly warm atmosphere! I would recommend Toast Cafe to anyone looking for a great place to eat in north melbourne!! :-)
Big breaky no lunch required. My Family and I had Breaky at toast The Staff are awesome as well as the breakfast and coffee. The Portion sizes are very generous and we all thought it was great value for money. Big thumbs up
Yummy Breakfast. Having our car windows tinted at 'Tint-a-car', early morning, Saturday, 8am (Arden st, North Melb) decided to walk to a nearby cafe, 'Toast', ErroI st, Nth Melb, to kill time and have breakfast, I 'spose this took 12-15 mins to walk to....no probs, happy to walk! 'Toast', situated in a very handy spot, next door to a Salvo's op shop (9 am opening) and two doors down from TAB (9 am opening). The 'Toast' menu offered around 15 dishes, cheapest: $4 for a basic banana/walnut loaf slice, mid: $8 fruit salad with Greek yogurt and honey, cooked breakfast around $13-$14 (give or take, Nov 2014). We ordered 2 cappuccino's, lovely! Decent depth of flavour (Vittoria) and lovely foam with combo liquid and cocoa powder on top of the froth. Hubby ordered asparagus with crispy proscuitto, poached eggs, sourdough soldiers and hollandaise sauce...gorge...., I had a chorizo, scrambled egg, spinach, fetta on sour dough, gorge too, however fetta a little lacking (but then you don't want too much in scrambled eggs I guess). Not sure how much the coffee cost, but total cost for (2) breakfast and (2) coffee was: $34, not bad considering you will not need lunch due to the generous breakfast serve! Highly recommended! Recommended.
That was great!. Really lovely staff in a charming cafe. They actually gave me a decent amount of butter for my toast and the coffee was delicious. It came with a fabulous picture of a CUTE unicorn on top... I had to put sugar over his eyes so he wouldn't see the spoon coming! Seriously, I've never seen coffee art in real life before that was a great treat!
Very relaxing atmosphere at Toast. Great for a late Sunday breakfast. The staff are friendly, easy going and always smiling. The food is fantastic, with a diverse menu. Coffee hits the spot every time and their freshly squeezed juices are exactly what you need on a Sunday morning :)
One of my favorite places for breakfast and lunch. The staff are great and full of character- the place is well managed and has a great atmosphere. Just love it!
Awesome cafe! I love eve.... Awesome cafe!
I love everything about this cafe the coffee is always perfect and the food is always on the ball!
The atmosphere is awesome & the staff are always friendly, they're certainly happy for you to take your time chatting with your friends.
I love this place & regularly visit from the SE suburbs.
Great place for breakfast. Dropped in for a late breakfast. The decor is a bit shabby but the service was good and the coffee was excellent. My partner and I had the big breakfast with extra spinach which was all very tasty. More care could have been taken with the poached eggs as the the yoke was hard. Will definitely give it another go.
Grabbed some takeaway breakfast. Prompt friendly service and the pancakes were great the family loved them.
Cheers guys
Simply nice!. Great staff! The Barista is a true delight, brings a smile each time I visit!!! Food was quite good and quite good value for money. Would definitely recommend a visit!!!
Good coffee. Coffee at Toast is well presented, and I like the little choco bird on the top. Very cute and special.
Great food + servcie. Bought this voucher from living social a while ago, a bit worried by the mixed comments. Went there this morning for brunch, we ordered pancake and the big breakfast. The food did come very quickly, staff were very friendly and helpful. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly...very satisfied:)
Forgot to mention... the coffee was really nice there:)
Nah toast is sick tho! Go thur fer show!
For the price it was nothing short of fantastic. Service was great, location is excellent with a vibrant atmosphere. Will be frequenting for those $8 focaccia's for sure.
Some of our regular spots were closed between Xmas-nye so tried Toast. Pleasantly surprised for this end of Errol. Wait staff seemed a bit disorganized, but were friendly and working hard for a full house. Huevos rancheros with home made tortillas and yummy chorizo was great and the coffee was decent. Good back up spot.
Exceptional Breakfast. My friend and I sat in the big red booth with comfy bench seats, while we enjoyed the morning sun shining through the front windows. I had the smoked salmon benedict and the eggs were cooked perfectly, there was alot of fresh smoked salmon on the plate and an abundance of house made hollandaise. My friend had the DYO (design your own) omelette with ham, cheese and mushrooms, it was HUGE!!!! Great coffee and fantastic table service and great value for money. The staff are very friendly and attentive.
A great little place to dine.
Great value, good food, coffee and huge meal! Friendly service too :)
Have eaten here many times, food is always perfect, as is the coffee. Reasonable pricing and friendly prompt service. Highly recommended!
Grerat Brekkie. Well priced & delicious...good coffee tooo
Food great, service average, it took 40 mins to arrive, the coffee order was wrong & they forgot some of the order. A shame because the food was delicious!
My favorite eatery. Good food, good service, reasonable prices, and a nice laid- back atmosphere. Please ignore the negative review from the idiot who didn't even go in, of you go in you'll love it!
Love this place, great staff, great coffee great seevice and fantastic food. Definely be back with friends and family
Good. This place has nice food, good coffee and freindly staff. Plus they have no minimum on using a credit card.
Not surprised at their high rating, nice little cosy place with wonderful owners
Nice and simple like all cafes should be.
The last cafe in North Melbourne. This place is a nice traditional cafe, no attitude from hipster staff, and mostly common people hang out here for a coffee and some eats. Reasonable prices on the meals, the beef focaccia with chutney is amazing. The staff are nice, they let people with their dogs have a coffee, I've even seen them giving free food to homeless people. It's such a sadness that simply reasonable places like this are being phazed out and replaced by disgusting expensive hipster horrorshows like auction rooms. =/
Best in north melbourne. Friendly staff, delicious coffee and very reasonably priced food (especially compared to other errol st cafes)!
Fantastic cafe - great service, food & coffee!! One of the best on Errol St!!
Perfect breakfast!. Over my Christmas and New Years holidays I ate breakfast out a lot! And considering all of my favorite foods are found on the breakfast menu's of Melbourne cafes (Poached eggs, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, wholegrain bread and bacon) it would be easy for me to get very, very bored with essentially the same meal everyday!
Toast's breakfast was, without a doubt, the highlight of these meals. The Vegetarian stack, with a side of bacon was ah-maz-sing!! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, not too gooey, but gooey enough that the flavor spreads through your meal.
For a drizzly morning the place was packed, which was lucky as a past love interest walked in but left because there were no tables....His presence could have definitely moved the catch-up from enjoyable to awkward!
The staff at Toast are lovely, and always enjoyable to deal with.
Nice service. Nice coffee. Helpful Barista.
Fabulous little family run cafe in West Melbourne. Features an all day menu with some very yummy breakfast options. Excellent hot coffee. Avocado smash, French toast and big breakfast were all delicious. Great staff too.
Wow.. from the delicious coffee to the pulled pork breakfast was amazing. Reasonable price also but at least it was worth it. The pulled pork was so tasty and eggs cooked perfect. Even the coffee was perfectly balanced I really enjoyed and if I lived closer I'd be back often
got the tkc burger, regular eggs benny and cream of chicken soup!
tkc burger - meat was super tender and bun was soft, the ingredients complimented each other really well. really generous with portions - it’s filling!
eggs benny - eggs were cooked to perfection and sourdough was nice and soft as well!
cream of chicken soup - massive bowl of soup, came with 3 slices of buttered bread. soup was super tasty and comforting
would come back! worth the money and the food was good :-)
My favourite North Melb Cafe. You always feel welcomed by the amazing staff. Food is fresh & flavourful, portions are generous & price is def unbeatable in the area. Must try for everyone!
Really pleasantly surprised. The food has greatly increased in quality and presentation since I last came here some years back. The soups are lovely too, I've tried a cauliflower bacon and blue cheese one, and a smokey lamb shank one, which had lots of chunks of meat in it, lovely 👍
A must for breakfast, excellent food and coffee. Service fabulous and very friendly
Amazing brekkie! Wonderful staff, so welcoming. Definitely coming back
Fantastic coffee, great burger with relish, amazing Shakshouka all with perfect ambiance and excellent service. It’s a North Melbourne highlight for sure!
