Degraves Street is one of my favorite streets in Melbourne. Tucked into a corner of that street is Waffle on. They serve Belgian waffles and French Baguettes. The Baguette is absolutely huge and filled with meat of your choosing. Waffles are soft and tasty and mine was covered in hot chocolate so it was extra delicious.
Waffle On is, obviously, advertised as a waffle shop, but I purchased the chicken baguette and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had good value for money, fast service, wonderful food and friendly staff - don’t miss this hidden gem in the middle of Melbourne!

Located in Degraves st, the shop is almost hidden in a corner right next to the subway entrance. There was a short line and it moves very quickly. I ordered the Le Parisien baguette which consisted of ham, cheese, french pickle, mustard, and butter. The service is a bit abrupt, but all is forgotten when you receive your warm roll. The baguette was so fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. While you might pay an extra couple of dollars for these baguettes, it is worth it as they use high quality ingredients. Delicious. I will be returning.
Wow, from the most basic façade comes the most incredible waffle. I had this naughty breakfast treat when my regular train got diverted to Flinders Street station instead of Parliament... must be good for business these train diversions as it’s the only time I come here
I love the buttery flavour and opted for plain (it comes with a sprinkling of icing sugar). There are many toppings to choose from Nutella, jam, maple, peanut butter, whipped cream, hot chocolate.
The only let down is its really only geared towards take away... would be nice to linger longer and soak up the atmosphere

Looking for the best waffle in town? Here you go! This is on my must-eat list whenever I visit Melbourne. The Belgian chocolate sauce is on point! The waffle together the vanilla ice cream and strawberry, gives you a feeling of having a tango on your taste bud. I can tell that the owner is doing his business with his passion! He cares about where his customers came from and how we think about his waffle. It’s lovely to see him every time.

Never notice there's a waffles place near the station until I felt like having something sweet n stopped by this morning. Ummmm nothing special for me but the waffle was definately above the average compare to other waffles places in CBD. The French owner was really cheerful and nice.

Amazing waffles at the entrance of the subway to Flinders Street Station at the end of Degraves Street.. we had the Royale (Strawberries, ice cream and chocolate) and plain waffle with peanut butter.. the waffles here were to die for.. they are the best waffles I had in Melbourne so far.. I would highly recommend just going for the plain waffle with one flavor topping or just a plain waffle with icing sugar.. as having too much topping just kills the deliciousness of the waffle..

The waffles are good. They’re very good. What’s amazing are the baguettes. Fresh toasty baguettes with beautiful roast beef, mustard, chicken, you name it. Sometimes I’ll come past and buy one for the next days lunch and end up having it for dinner. Such a random hole in the wall but you won’t be disappointed. Ever.
Absolutely the best waffles you will ever taste! The owner is the kindest and most cheerful person you will find on Degraves Street and it only adds to how great everything there is. Can't possibly fault it except for the amount of mess although that's probably my fault.
Hands down the best waffle ever! The place really isn’t much from the outside, especially on the bustling Degraves Street. But the owner is really cheerful and nice, and the plain waffle with Nutella is just heaven. It could get a little messy though so be careful:)
I'm just joining the queue here. This place is awesome! Although it's called Belgium Waffle, I'm here for the baguettes. As a commuter, you couldn't miss this little nook at the Degraves St. exit. It has a bit of Parissien feel to it - ghetto style (in a good way). Tried every sandwich on offer and they are all good. Seriously if you can grab a bottle of well chilled wine , go down to the boat sheds by the river and share a picnic with someone.

No I'm not going to waffle on about Waffle on I'm going to be brief. Waffle On is a tiny little place on DeGraves Street that sells belgian waffles, sandwiches, hot drinks and other treats. And they do a mean waffle. I had the Mikado, Belgian Waffle with Ice Cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce and was very happy with it. Great staff, awesome food. Definitely worth a visit and while you're there if you want good coffee you can head downstairs and find Cup of Truth. :)
The texture is very good, especially the Canadiene with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream makes the waffle more alive! Will be back for sure as the price is considerably good too! Love the friendliness of the boss and looking forward to learning more Dutch culture:)
Favourite place in Melbourne to get a cheap, tasty waffle. Right in front of the Flinders st subway entrance, it is tempting not to buy one as you walk past. My all time favourite is a simple waffle with Nutella and powdered sugar ($5). The waffle is crisp and incredibly tasty while the Nutella is what is always is - delicious. Definitely stop here during your touristy walk down Degraves st 😁
The plain waffle is the best thing you'll buy yourself. Crispy, chewy, light and fluffy this waffle is all those textures at once. They aren't overly sweet nor are they bland.
Marc is amazing, friendly and charming. He even roasts and slices his own beef to perfection each day.

It can look like a dodgy place however we all know to never judge its food from the looks. I tried the nutella waffle and man it was good. Simple and fresh. The waffle was hot, doughy and crunchy with melted nutella drizzled. I would definitely come back and try some other flavours. Til next time!
I love this little place, is so French, I like that they do their own baguettes and waffles, it's love in the products they sell. The staff is friendly and the owner is a lovely gentleman. My fav is the classic beef, pickles and mustard baguette, the price is $10 for baguette, don't go to subway, try this ones!!!!

This is the place for baguettes, waffles, and coffee!!! Marc (owner, preparer, frontman) has transformed a very small space into a thriving, delicious, and quality experience. I've been coming here for 11 years, and have just ordered another masterpiece!!!
The Food:
Baguettes, waffles, and the famous LeBowl coffee.
Baguettes - the baguettes baked made fresh throughout the day, then prepared with your chosen toppings (my favourite is roast beef)
Waffles - Prepared fresh with awesome toppings. The perfect combination of warm, crunchy, and sticky on the outside, but soft on the inside. The best I've tasted.
LeBowl - this is a giant coffee with 5-7 shots of coffee. I thought I was very resistant to caffeine, but felt the affects of this giant coffee for hours afterwards (awesome!)
The Process:
One person dedicated to take orders. One person (generally Marc), who makes the baguettes, in a just-in-time fashion as they're requested. There is no buildup of baguettes going soggy (like other baguette places). There is at least one other person loading and removing the freshly baked baguettes from the oven. All in all, a very well oiled machine. It took around four minutes from when my order was taken, to when it arrived in my hands. This was at peek time (Friday 1pm).
Consistency:
The waffles, and baguettes, have tasted consistently awesome for the 11 years I've been coming here.
Overall:
This is the best baguette and waffle place I've ever eaten from. Keep up the good work, Marc and team!!!!!!
Great little "hole in the wall" cafe with the freshest baguettes and waffles and great coffee provided by the very genial host Mark and his assistant. Whenever we are in the city we make sure we visit.
This 5 star rating is for the baguettes. Simple, yet so delicious. The chicken baguette is my recommendation, it's bangin'. The French owner really knows how to bread. This place wins.
We decided to visit Waffle On for a sweet treat whilst we were in the CBD. It is in a very convenient location on Degraves St, right near an entrance to Flinders Street station.
We got one waffle with jam and the other with Nutella, as we were on the go. We thought the pricing at $5.00 was fairly reasonably in comparison to other competitors. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was pretty fast. The waffles were warm and extremely tasty. There was a very generous amount of both Nutella and jam, which was a positive. They were also a decent size, so they really hit the spot!
Overall, we were very satisfied with the quality of the waffles, and look forward to going back for more in the future to fulfil our sweet tooth cravings. Check them out!
Crunchy, waffles cooked to perfection with fresh strawberries and a nice big scoop of vanilla icecream, what more can I say? Well, it was definitely delicious and the staff was quite friendly. I would love to come back again to try the other waffles they have too!
What can you say about waffle on. Well only good things. True French / Belgian style baguettes. Limited choice and no changes to the menu, the way it should be. Mark and the guys behind the counter are very open and friendly. I go there every so often for my European fix. Don't have the waffles often but always good.
Really awesome waffles here, it's light airy and really crispy, perfect thing about it is that it is also not overly sweet.
The roast beef baguette hits the spot, Te crispness of the bread alone with the amazing flavours of the pickles, beef and Mayo is a match made perfect.

Airy and crunchy, these waffles are the go-to when you are on-the-go and looking for something quick and indulgent. The crispiness and airy texture they offer are what I would find in a perfect belgian waffle. Who wouldn't want that spread with nutella as well? Great, freshly made waffles and friendly staff :) The French owner made a small convo with me and my friend as we ordered the Nutella Waffles and Canadienne Waffles, joking around with us and even introducing us to his wife who was at the back making our waffles. It wasn't long before we got the waffles. Mine which came with ice cream was in a handy takeaway box and my friends Nutella Waffle was wrapped nicely in a way that was easy to eat out of. The waffles were nice and flavoursome, but not as crispy as we would have liked. It did however have a very nice authentic flavour to it and was still delicious despite the lack of crispness. Not the best waffles we have had but still yummy :) and extra points for the nice service! It wasn't exactly the cheapest for a small piece of waffle and I wouldn't come again when looking for the best waffles but it was definitely worth a try c:

Possibly the best waffles I've had with the obvious exception of some in Europe. One of the only places in Melbourne that makes them properly! If there's one thing I know, it's waffles and by God are these good.
Fantastic waffles! I love their classic plain waffles. Wonderfully crispy and fluffy, and not doughy at all. At $4 it's not the cheapest, but I wouldn't say it's expensive either. It's probably one of my favourite things to get when I'm feeling a little peckish and want something slightly sweet but not overwhelmingly decadent.

The best baguettes around especially the Ham and cheese . Gorgeous Virginia ham and homemade Mayo . Pickles are a lovely touch and the bread is always fresh . It's 10 bucks , but you pay for quality .
Can't say I'm a big fan of their waffles but I've never had a bad baguette here. The bread is always fresh and they don't skimp on the fillings, just slightly heavy handed on the butter. My fav is the ham and brie, and roast beef. They also sell Sunzest OJ, so there's my reliable sandwich and reliable juice in one.
We have tasted all the waffles they have and it is a jolly nice place. It doesn't have much of a place to sit though, but staff are nice and friendly and the waffles and ice cream are good. We do go quite frequently.

It would be hard to find a team more dedicated to the cause of presenting fantastic genuine French baguettes than Mark and his team. A brief discourse in French is always a free part of the service. With a excellent selection of freshly made waffles and baguettes, a single bite from these will forever turn you into a baguette snob.
Waffles are delicious! Had mine with Nutella and ice cream and some coffee. There is not much seating, but a great place to pick up something to eat. I have yet to try the baguettes. *edit as of July 2016- tried the 'Le parisien ' baguette and was extremely impressed! The baguette was so crusty and fresh and then filling was generous (especially with the cheese). The only thing was there was a bit too much mustard for me so it was a tad spicy. But other than that, highly recommend the baguette sandwiches, so worth it for $10. You get good quality bread & ingredients. The waffles are great but in my opinion, the sandwiches are even better1
tried the beef baguette it was pretty good (a little too mustardy for me but still nice) and my son had a waffle with ice cream and nutella which he thought was amazing.staff are very nice and friendly.we had to take away as there really wasn't anywhere to sit in there as its a very small place on a corner.it was a little pricey so its not something i'd go and have daily but i'll make sure to pop in on my next visit down that way

Don't be fooled by their waffle name on display... these guys are baguette kings and probably make the best roast beef baguette in Melbourne. I've been here many times for lunch and it's always great. Their waffles are good too, but their baguettes are special.

We tried the Canadiene and the Royale which Gave me a head start to my head with such a sweet yet balanced breakfast.
Everyone else seems to mention the office but Mark is known as 'Baguette Man' in our office. Crispy baguettes and fresh ingredients all put together in front of you while you wait. Complete contrast to nearly every other sandwich joint in Melbourne getting pre made stuff delivered each day. Baguette man is my favorite work lunch.

The only place for waffles. They never disappoint. Fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, perfectly sized as a snack ... I love these waffles so much. They are available with toppings but nothing beats a good plain waffle with a dusting of icing sugar on top. I've also had one of their baguettes before and it was delicious too. Fresh and quick.

I have to admit I was quite disappointed as the waffle texture was slightly too hard and chewy for my liking... Have you ever had one of those moment when you randomly crave for something? Well the other day I had one of those moment, and I was craving for waffle...The reason why I decided to goes to Waffle on to satisfy my craving was that it was on of the very few places that open at 8am. ..I decided to ordered the Canadian, which is waffle top with ice cream and maple syrup... so nicely cook. When serve, it is still slightly warm, crispy and golden brown on the outside and in the inside, it was just pillowy and melt away in my mouth. The combination of good quality maple syrup and vanilla ice cream satisfy my sweet buds. Yet, not too overly sweet...

Get Your Waffle On! We've been hanging to eat something (anything!) from Waffle On for literally years! But every time we seemed to remember "Oh yeah! Let's try that place!" it seemed to be a Sunday...when they're grungy roller door was pulled shut. A sad business for us really, but we finally got our act together and went on a Saturday! I know, I know...it's a waffle place. But we weren't in the mood for sweets, so those lovely baguettes were looking pretty good!! $10 Baguette! We ordered one of the Vegetarian Baguettes ($10) and shared it because it's a pretty decent size! Doused with mayo on both sides, slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, cornishons, and sliced egg - it's simplicity made it the perfect snack! We're well on our way to developing an addiction...and we haven't even tried the waffles....!!!

... we bought a waffle just with cream, think of it as a pancake with all those different toppings. The waffle was crispy and thick but not doughy or soggy, it was also on the savory side. Waffle On is a tiny little cafe/sandwich store locaetd at Shop 9 DeGraves Street, just past the stairs leading towards Flinder’s Street Station. They really only have two different types of food on offer: sandwichesor waffles, but with the decent variety of flavours on offer you won’t feel spoilt for choice. I need to say, I love how French the sandwich maker is. Waffle On joins the ranks of French Brasserie , Chez Olivier and Roule Gallette for places that make me want to run and buy a striped t-shirt and beret. Coffee is good, but it’s the sandwiches that really set this place apart. I ordered le fermier, chicken, mayonaise, lettuce and tomato, and I was surprised by how spot on it was. The highlight was definitely the bread, the combination of super-crisp on the outside/ soft on the inside haunts me even now. Waffle was cooked perfectly and the outside had that lovely crunch. The amount of maple syrup was perfect as I do not like my waffles or pancakes drowning in it. Loved my waffle and it satisfied my waffle craving for the entire week I might go back there again to try out their plain waffle and hot drink

The baguettes are always perfectly crispy on the outside and on most occasions (including this one) the soft interior bread is still warm.
The best part about the baguettes at Waffle On is, without a doubt, the baguette itself. There is an audible crunch as you bite into it, scatting crumbs and giving way to a doughy, chewy interior

I have seen people lining up for the waffles and baguettes and I had to try them. I ordered the beef baguette and it was huge, amazingly fresh and so good. Like many, it’s easy to walk past a place like this however don’t, it’s worth a try. Tasty and very filling at reasonable prices. When they are busy you may need to wait a while and you may not get a smile when being served however I will definitely be going back.
Recommend the plain waffle, great for take away and eating on the go. Quick and friendly service. Can access from the Flinders Street station Degraves street access.
