Review Simpsons Burgers - Melbourne

Brodie McGee
Id give it more than 4 stars if I could, without the full 5. The two guys working here tonight weโ€™re friendly and polite, and served my food quickly. The food was hot, really yummy, and well portioned. The 4 stars is because I asked explicitly for no tomato, as Iโ€™m allergic, and despite him repeating it back to me, and me being the only customer, I took a bite and had this guy in my mouth. No problem, good food, but couldโ€™ve been a little better!

I've had two visits here now. Both take away and with a ten minute walk back to work, I appreciate you loose quality. Visit one: Poutine. Recognisable as poutine but not strong in gravy flavour. Visit two: Chicken burger and chilli cheese fries. Burger, good layer of chicken, nicely mixed with avocado. The bun was a big soggy. The chilli cheese fries was mixed with beans and runny chilli, not the con carne style. Fairly overpriced for $12 to what you got. Won't write them off completely but would try dine in maybe, with there limited seating.

Truly a great burger in the heart of the city. The Aussie burger is great with fresh ingredients. Beet roots on a burger? Yes please! Friendly service and a fair price.

Have you heard about this burger joint?! My bf wanted to try this place so we ordered it from ubereats. I didnโ€™t know that we actually were so close to the place! ๐Ÿ˜‚ We ordered: ๐Ÿ” Big Boy - Beef patty with egg, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard and tomato sauce ๐Ÿ” Muscle Up - Double everything from Big Boy and added pickles ๐ŸŸ Simpsons Chips and Poutine Just by looking at them when I opened the boxes, I was already drooling! The burgers were quite heavy so we know its packinโ€™ juicy patties ๐Ÿคค After the first bite, I was in love!!! ๐Ÿฅฐ The burgers tasted like they were homecooked made with so much love and attention and we could also taste the fresh ingredients theyโ€™re using. The buns had great thickness to hold the ingredients together and nicely toasted. The sauces on both burgers were amazing, they really complemented each ingredients inside the burger. The chips themselves were perfectly seasoned with the right amount of salt. The poutine gravy was the best! Iโ€™d recommend everyone to get the poutine instead of the regular, just to taste that elevated flavors. Overall, we can see ourselves ordering here again (and probably often) in the future, especially when the burger craving kicks in!

The burger was good. Staff are not friendly and professional. Not make sense to pay $1 for tomato sauce and also the size of the suace was too small. I like their chilli sauce but again the suace container was too small.

Good burgers, but they dont hold very well. Tasty though, and a good size.

Easily the best burgers Iโ€™ve had in Melbourne, good servings, fresh ingredients, and tasty! Whatโ€™s not to love? Also, the only burger place Iโ€™ve been to in ages that uses REAL CHEESE! no โ€œAmericanโ€ (craft singles) cheese here. So good!

Lovely food, healthy burgers, it's just so fresh it's cooked in front of your eyes. Spicy chicken burger made my day. My husband had their Heisenburger and loaded fries with added bacon bits to it was so tasty we finished everything on the plate. Staff is friendly with smile on the face even though they were really busy. It's a small place which delivers big. So it's a must try. Will definitely be recommending to my friend's and family

If you are in Melbourne then Simpsons is a must go.
One of the best burgers I ever had. Ordered Heseinburger and Poutine chips and it just hits the spot.Full of fresh ingredients and patty was so fresh and juicy it's just melts in your mouth.Poutine was delicious . Combination of cheese and gravy and their homemade seasoning just take your taste buds to next level. Definitely must a go. Staff was really polite and friendly. They helped me to select the burger patiently with a big smile. Good job guys I will be coming back.

On one hand, the photo of the burger looks average. On the other hand, this is the best burger I have had in Melbourne.
A good burger shouldn't rely on the add on ingredients or sauce, but the patty. This burger is a good representation of simple and delicious.
The flame grill adds so much flavour to the burger, which was crispy on the outside and so juicy when you bite into it.
The bread could be improved, slightly dry, but a minor complaint.
I can come here every week! So good
Joe
I really like the burgers here and I would come more often but every time I do go, the staff are just miserable. No smile, no thanks or goodbye. They just take your order and then give you your burger when its ready, pass it over and walk away. A smile or a polite thanks or goodbye or something wouldnt kill them. Even the man who is clearly the owner or manager, what an absolute sourpuss!

Simpsons burgers never disappoint. There's usuallly a long queue during lunch, but now you can order via Ritual and that saves a lot of time.

A hole in the wall burger joint along Russell St. Nothing fancy but the price reflects it, but boy are their burgers good! We ordered the standard Hamburger and the Big Boy Burger. Nice juicy traditional burgers with good quality beef patties and a nice smokey flavour. Nothing fancy, just nice burgers at very reasonable prices! I can't see why people would pay $15 - $20 for fancy 'Instagram' burgers that look great but taste ordinary. Most of these monster stack burgers are not practical, you can only eat half the burger at a time anyway?! If you want good traditional burgers, come to Simpsons Burgers. If they improve their fries, it would have been a 5 star.

A small unassuming burger shop. This was my first visit after hearing from others of a decent cheap burger place in CBD.
I ordered a cheeseburger classic and poutine. The burger patty was juicy, had good flavour and you could see that it was made with lean meat. The bun, specifically the bottom bun was a bit dry (stale like), which was kinda a let down. Overall it tasted like a less fatty homemade burger.
The highlight was the poutine. The chips were crunchy, with a delicious gravy sauce and melted cheese. It was a bit salty but overall a job well done.
It definitely seemed like a popular joint, as they constantly churned out orders on a Thursday night.
I would probably come back again as this was reasonably priced and try out their spicy chicken burger.

#VEGAN FRIENDLY# I ordered take away on a busy Friday afternoon. The time to take my order was quite quick (< 1 Min), but the wait time for my order was ~15 mins. There are several vegetarian options and I was able to order the version of the Organic grill (vegan mayo). Fresh ingredients. Patty was potato based. I give this place a solid 3.

I always get their spicy chicken burger when Iโ€™m here. One of the best chicken burgers in town. The chicken breast is so tender and juicy and the toppings...yummm...never goes wrong. I usually like the chicken crispy but this is an exception. The burgers are cheap as well. No pics as I smashed it as soon as I got it. They also have the Heisenerger and the Muscle Up for someone looking for an extra feed. Looking forward to their second shop opening in Market Street.

Swung by this place as I've read good reviews about it but I was proven wrong. This is my first time posting my experience only because I felt that the review it has received here doesn't justify the experience I had today. At all. I ordered the smokin' burger upon recommendation by the waiter that it was the best burger. When it came, it was sloppy (from the sauces and maybe the oil from the patty) and felt like there was no heart/effort put into preparing this burger. You could see this from the picture I took. Size of the burger is bigger than usual burgers out there. Taste wise, it's a bit lacking to my surprise, could use a bit more salt, perhaps? Burger is not visually appealing as well.

Very disappointed.

Small unassuming burger joint near Chinatown, went on a whim and ended up returning and having burgers 3 times during our week in Melbourne. Beef patties are low fat but tasty and juicy... therefore burger is not a greasy mess and very yummy! Sauces are great. I had a chicken burger which was also on point. So good and I will recommend to everyone and anyone! Loaded fries also amazing... i had the nacho fries ๐Ÿ˜‹
Aishah
Pretty decent burgers for a cheap price. We had the fries with gravy and it was good - my friend liked it but I personally didnโ€™t think it tasted like gravy so it wasnโ€™t my favourite. Overall a good concept and quick service
Sandy Winardi
The Staff is friendly, Simple to order, Burger is really delicious, especially Big Boy. The fries here is also great and large. Overall, the price here is good and worth the money.

After all the hype I finally made my way on a glorious Friday lunch to Simpsons burgers. There were a lot of terrible reviews on here about the quality and flavour...BUT I was surprisingly impressed. There are lines out the front for a reason.ย I had the bacocheese burger with added pineapple and a side of onion rings. My first bite took my down memory lane of getting burgers from the local fish n chip shop after work, or going to a cousins house for a family bbq! There are no frills, no excessive (gross) amounts of cheese and bacon. You leave feeling satisfied...and wanting more - not falling asleep at your desk with the meat sweats.
Great Restaurant Mentions
Great no frills burger joint in the city! Super juicy and tender pattie...great toppings and not drenched in sauce! Get to choose what type of bread as well! Love this place
Thembvfan
I had the smokin burger with the brioche bun and it was deliciuos. Everything is prepared fresh right in front of you and the superior flavour is evidence of that. I'm eager to return to try the poutine as well.

Shame the .5s are gone. Definitely a 3.5. Sometimes, a great burger is one that catches you offguard! When my colleagues told me that the best burger was from here, I was dubious. I've never heard of it. But I always like to be proven wrong especially when it comes to food. Sure, it wasn't the best burger I had but it was mighty decent and definitely satisfied my burger craving tonight. I had the bacocheese with pickles and a grilled pineapple. The meat patty was my favourite part. It was tender and almost crumbling. Everything else was good but standard really. Decent amount of salad. In my opinion, even though it didn't feel like there was too much sauce, the sauce was too liquidy and was going everywhere. I liked the onion rings and the chips which did not feel too greasy especially the latter. I felt that the calamari was a bit too chewy.

FOOD: Burgers were pretty good for the price, the fries tasted like it was canned beans on chips and cheese.

SERVICE: Prompt delivery to our tables.

ATMOSPHERE: Non-existent

WOW FACTOR: Non-existent

RATING: 3/5
Food For The Soul
The burger is well put together and the sauces are good, the food comes out quickly and is run well. BUT and a big one at that ... this is a burger joint and the quality of the meat in the burgers is NO good. Itโ€™s pale and does not look or taste of a quality patty. Sorry guys not as good as the old days... good chips
Jasmine
Truly a basic burger.ย

Due to all the positive, glowing reviews that were for Simpsons burger, a friend and I thought it would be a nice place to stop by late after work.ย

Firstly, curry cheese chips were a little strange and probably would've tasted a little better if the cheese was melted.ย

Secondly, according to my vegetarian mate the joint provided a very delicious smelling beef burger.ย
Although his veg burger was to his taste, I preferred a little bit more visual care in my food and in the little details.ย
Whether that be adding their Simpsons logo on the box for branding, it felt like I was eating any random burger that I grabbed conveniently anywhere.ย

A few weeks on and for the life of me - I can't remember anything significant about it other than it was a filling and ordinary burger. Decor was haphazard and could probably benefit from a touch of personalization that would elevate it from 'just a random burger store' to somewhere that would encourage people to stay, take pictures, bring their mates.ย

Service was great though. They were super friendly and smiley which I remember quite fondly :)

This place isn't fancy, there's hardly any seating, and there are no gimmicks - but you don't really need any of those things when your burgers are this good. What's more, the quality is consistent and the prices haven't been inflated to reflect how popular Simpsons Burgers has become. My fav is the classic cheeseburger. No fuss, the beef shines as it should. Those who appreciate a simple burger done well at the right price should make time to visit Simpsons!
Darren Brown
I regularly eat here and friends I have introduced over the past four years keep going back. They consistently offer tasty traditional burgers as well some special creations., the spicer comes highly recommended. Their chicken burgers use a grilled chicken breast and best of all everything on offer is great value for money.
Spaghetti Monster
Great burger but I was overcharged. Didnโ€™t realise at the time but only clocked the prices waiting for a friend on a subsequent visit. Probably an accident but I will be careful in future, if I ever go there again, which is pretty doubtful as I donโ€™t like being ripped-off to be honest.
Sylv
Ordered the cheeseburger classic and organic grill, the burger buns were super soft which was awesome! the beef was tender and juicy, lots of melted cheese which I loved, pricing was also reasonable ๐Ÿ˜ would 100% go back for a quick bite again!
Vespine
This is the best burger in town, I have tried many of the other offerings around and there are some very good ones, but Simpsons is the only place I go back toย time and time again.
PedGetsFed
A tasty old school bullsht free burger joint in the cbd. The price pushes the rating to a 4, guys I was with really enjoyed their burgers too.

Wanna try the poutine on my next trip!
Daniel
Simpsons Burgers is a staple burger joint for me. I recommend them to everybody. They manage to keep their prices very low, yet the quality of both food and service is consistently high โ€“ especially compared to many of the overpriced burger joints in the coveted CBD strip.

Your order is always made on the spot with the perfect temperature and fresh, flavoursome ingredients.

Their Cheeseburger Classic is my particular favourite โ€“ its simple flavours let the main star of the show shine: the flame grilled beef patty.

I have visited over half a dozen times, starting from when they opened, and Iโ€™ve not been disappointed yet.

Stopped at this restaurant crossing by while going to HJs, thought of try something out here instead of going to HJ. Loved the grilled chicken burger here. It was too good.
Nini Foodie
Dropped by Simpsonโ€™s Burgers for the perfect late night snack - poutine (with added grilled bacon bits) and chicken strips. Delicious and immensely satisfying!
Avolette
Who would have thought that this simple, no frills, takeaway burger shop can produce such great burgers?!

Just tried the cheeseburger classic and it is everything a good burger should be - pillowy soft damper style buns (a nice change from the greasy brioche that's so popular out there right now), tender and juicy meat patty grilled to perfection, oozy cheese, some salad to ease the burger guilt, and just the right amount of sauce.ย
I have sampled many-a-burger in my day and I've got to say, this Simpson's Burger is pretty high up there.

Chips were ok. I tried the chips and gravy and the gravy was too salty for my liking.

Prices are very reasonable and the service is just lovely. Great find in the the CBD!
Saza_Lives_To_Eat
I don't know how this place got such a high score. The burger patty had bread crumbs it it and tasted bland, it was not even slightly charred, i could have been eating boiled meat.....I didn't think it was flame grilled at all. The bread was rather tough. Hardly any salad in it. Chips were ok. Price was good but for the quality of the food it wasn't worth it.
Rachael
Quite simply, this is one of the best burgers I've had in the melbourne cbd. Bang for buck, this is a fantastic value with amazingly friendly staff. Super quick turn out and a warm atmosphere. Really enjoyed the sauce and the delicious chicken that was grilled perfectly.
Brendan Ho
Love the classical Burger joint in Melbourne, quick and simple, but I cannot make up my mind whether is worth coming back. The service is good and friendly I guess.
Cookielessvee
A small burger joint on Russell street. Friendly service anfld food is made quick. Xl chips are small in portion but crispy and well seasoned with chicken salt. Onion rings have a crispy batter and the onion has a sweetness to it. Burgers are delicious, soft bun, tomato relish adds flavour to the burger.
Ember
Like it that burgers are quite customizable, you can start off ordering their basic hamburger (6.90) and simply pay to add-on additional ingredients. Added egg and onions and total came up to $8.90. Size is rather big so it's pretty value for money! Seatings are limited thou, opted for takeaway. Highly recommended for burgers at a pocket friendly price!
Edy
For the price paid, the portions were fairly generous, especially in a CBD location. That being said, the burger was sub-par, very plain. The "poutine chips" were too salty. The service however was friendly and very quick which was a plus. Usually people do takeaways here so there was not much to say about setting.
Setting - 6/10
Food - 6/10
Service - 8/10
Price - 8/10
This tiny burger spot has minimal seating but flips out great value burgers. I'd get their Big Boy burger as I found their Cheeseburger Classic one dimensional. Their chips are well seasoned and addictive, will be back back to try their loaded chips one day!
Linda Puc
Small place in a good location but easily overlooked unless you're a burger foodie who knows what's up. The burgers are really bang for you buck. CHEAP and generous portion. XL chips were $4.90 (say what). I ordered the garden dream (veggie) burger that consisted of a veggie patty, beetroot, lettuce, avocado, cheese and a relish sauce and some other pickled mustard mayonnaise sauce. Patty was decent, but lacking in seasoning, the sauces personally for me were not great, overly sweet when combined with beetroot which I found overpowered the burger. The cheese was bland and virtually flavourless, just there to make an appearance. Chips were seasoned well. Overall worth the money (the reason for the high score).

I've tried A LOT of burger places in Melbourne and Simpson's is easily in my top 3. Lack of seating/general space is the only downside to eating here but if your happy with take away this place is solid. Bacocheese or Spicy Chicken would be my recommendations. Gets quite busy at peak times like most places in CBD so go after 1PM or be prepared to wait a little bit.
Shawn Beetson
I had a Big Boy Burger with chips and gravy, the burger was delicious and very filling, the chips were nice, not too salty or greasy, however, the gravy was just your average gravy and the American mustard in the hamburger was not quite to my taste. Although small, the store is nice and neat, with seating inside and out. Overall a great place for some decent wholesome food at a good price.

We ordered big boy and spicer. These were really juicy and fresh๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปalso staffs were very friendlyโ˜บ๏ธI would like to go this restaurant next time for sure๐Ÿ˜
@su_yummy27

Lots of good things about this place. Grass fed beef, good service, low price ($7.90 for a cheeseburger), juicy patty, decent portion, and best of all? They accept EFTPOS without a minimum fee or applying surcharge. Get on it guys.

One of the best burgers joint I ever came across. Remind me of my school days when you can just get a healthy beef n chicken burger. Spicer is my favourite burger here.Simpson's stands out from the contemporary burger joints like as Grilled or Huxtaburger or 8bit. It's fresh ingredients gives you in your mouth a fine touch of quality taste with no bullshit
. I am coming to Simpson's from a long time and these guys behind the counter never disappointed me. They have very good customer service along with the health chicken beef n veggies burgers. My youngest kid is a big fan of their chicken n chips
Signor-Gastronomico
This place didn't live up to the hype. I recall the burgers being average and small and the chips being okay. The staff weren't that friendly also indirectly forced me to put the burgers in deals which were expensive as.... the environment isn't spacious and inviting either.

Not sure why this place has always had such a high rating. Many better places out there.
Caffiend
Great, reasonably priced burgers. Patties (beef, chicken, veg) are all house made and are never frozen. They make their own chicken salt and everything is fried in vegetable oil (no trans-fatty nasties). Simple, solid weekday lunch.
SilverKingPrime
Guys behind the bench were real nice and asked what kind of burger I was after, after letting them know I was missing my glasses that day. Gave me a solid recommendation and had it freshly made real quick.
It was the Bacocheese with BBQ sauce, and it was very good. All the ingredients tasted fresh, every single one. Chips were cooked to perfection and salted just the right amount.
Price is excellent too!

I saw the reviews and had a look at the pics taken of this place and had high expectations. I expected the burgers to be huge. I ordered the big boy burger, the garden dream veggie burger, the bbq bacon cheddar chicken burger, chilli cheese chips and salt and pepper Calamari. The portion size was tiny. The chicken burger was dry AF and the sauces were minimal. It wasn't a tasty meal. The burgers were overall dry and bland. The chips were oily. Doesn't taste like they had any salt on them. Only had a few pieces of Calamari. Was so disappointed. Give it 1.5 because it came very fast. I will not be returning!

Such lovely staff here. I loved the burgers and the fries! I recommend the chicken and avo burger. Only let down would probably be how the I felt the contents of the burger would fall out due to how soft the buns were!

After seeing some positive reviews online, we decided to visit Simpsons Chips and Burgers. Itโ€™s a small venue and just looks like your standard take-away shop from the outside, but we were blown away with their amazing tasting burgers!ย

We both ordered the โ€˜Big Boyโ€™ burger with an added beef patty, and some chicken strips. The burgers are great value, with the โ€˜Big Boyโ€™ only costing $9.90 for so many ingredients. We thought $4.00 was a little steep for an added patty, but understandable as the burgers were already so cheap. There are a few tables inside so after we ordered, we took a seat and waited.

The staff there were really friendly and helpful, which was a huge positive. Shortly after sitting down, our chicken strips came. They were really hot and fresh. Then, our burgers came out next. They both looked amazing! The bun was nice and soft, which made the burger easier to eat. The beef patties were so tasty, and the slight bit of char grill just added even more flavour. The cheese was melted perfectly over the patties. One of the stand outs was the bacon. We couldnโ€™t get enough of it! The egg was a nice addition, as well as the tomato and lettuce. There was a really generous amount of sauce on the burgers too.

Overall, we were extremely impressed with the quality of food and service from Simpsons Chips and Burgers. We look forward to going back in the near future!

This is a very small place. Sweet little spot to grab a burger. First thing I noticed is the staff were really friendly not in an annoyingly fake way. So that was a nice start.ย

I ordered the Double Cheese burger with onions and it took about 10 mins or so to come out. The burger is really good. It has a very strong beef flavor to it. The other ingredients added to the burger they did not take away anything from the patty which is ideal in a burger.

All the ingredients were nice and fresh. This is another burger joint with nice buns. So that was also good.

if your in the city looking for a quick burger to smash check this joint out

After scouring zomato for burger places, the was one that my colleagues and I had not tried yet and with its high rating we decided it was time.

When we arrived at the front, we were very surprised to a small takeaway style shop front with two tables inside and two outside as we were expecting a bigger venue. From first glance, I could see why people could just walk right past this place because even though it has yellow signage, it looks a cheap takeaway place with a local fish and chip shop vibe.

We places our order and were given numbers on a cardboard that was to represent our orders as we were dinning in which we all found hilarious, it didn't really bother us but it was a bit odd and very funny.
We had 5 people so they allowed to take a chai outside to add to one of the tables which was nice of them.

When the burgers came out we were relieved as they looked amazing, perfectly stacked, layered and presented well.
We ordered the Tango Simpson, the hamburger, the cheese burger classic, the bacocheese and the spicy chicken along with Simpson chips and chicken chips!

The burgers were really good, mainly because of the large beef patty which was cooked perfectly. the Tango Simpson had a similar taste to a HJ's flame grilled whopper due to the sauce combo which was great. The spicy chicken was super spicy as the name suggests and is not recommended for someone who can't handle extra hot! The other burgers were all pretty good as beef and buns were both nice. The chips were ok, nothing special and the chicken chips was a very small serving size and not something we would get again.

All in all, they make good quality burgers and understand why they have the rating they do, however attention to detail such as the card sore numbers or the shops vibe could really help this place out!

We've walked pass this burger place on daily basis but never had the guts to try it as it doesn't look convincing from the outside ๐Ÿ˜ With a rating of 4 on Zomato, this place deserves a place on our MUST TRY collection. We went on Wednesday around 6.30pm. We ordered Big Boy burger & Gravy chips for $15.90, generous portion enough to feed 2 hungry tummies! Patty was chunky and beefy. Chips were yummy too although we don't mind to have less gravy next time ๐Ÿ˜† but we definitely enjoyed the experience! We'll be back for many more ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ

Unpretentious burgers that are tasty, filling and cheap. Yes, the interior is a little small and not that cozy of an ambiance, but hey I'd much rather save money on food here, and then head off to a nice watering hole later. So, no complains. ย If you like Grill'd burgers, give these a go!

It's ย also a great place for a lunch takeaway.

We gave this place a go after seeing how high it scored on Zomato...

To be very honest, I'm not sure why the ratings of this place is high but this place is average at best. We have had many a good burger and these burgers were honestly, not great at all- especially by Melbourne's high standards, The interior of this place is dirty, as a previous reviewer had mentioned, and the ingredients weren't of good quality. The buns were dry and a little stale tasting, the fillings very lacklustre and the fries definitely felt like they were from a packet. Sadly, everything was very underwhelming for us.

Interior a bit dirtier & nothing great about the ambiance. Service was ok. Burger was big & overall it was nothing impressive about it. I don't know why the rating is that high. Big burger & it was just mediocre food! Overall I would give 3.2*

Had the spicy veggie burger. The outfit didnt look like much and i was a bit skeptical but after biting into the burger i knew i had passed judgment too soon. One of the best burgers ive ever had.
Foodiemelb1
these guys serve one of the best burgers in melbourne. they may not have the greatest fitout or marketing material or packaging, but thats all irrelevant as the burgers are juicy and their chips are excellent with great seasoning. keep up the great work guys!
Tapinder Kaur
this small eatery never disappoints. I cant go past the beef spicer burger with their house seasoned chips. the burgers are so juicy with their home sauces that you need to stock up on napkins, heaps of them! absolutely delicious burgers and the people running the place are awesome too!
Karine Thai
It was good but not mind blowing as I expected. Maybe next time we'll try the other kind of bread as this one made the burger too dry. But it not expensive so it's good value for the price. The Simpson fries were okay but nothing special in that.
Tim McGrath
I'm probably not qualified to review this place because I only had a cheeseburger. But I loved it. A generously sized, well priced, traditional hamburger bun with correctly seasoned, smoky thick pattie, melted cheese, tomato, lettuce, onoin and nice tangy mayo/tomato sauce combo all for less than $8. The burger held its shape well as I wandered down Russell Street. I discarded the box provided (I don't remember getting a serviette). Service was friendly. The fellow who served me walked up to me from behind the counter and handed me my burger with a smile...simple act but appreciated. I'll be back again for sure. Not much seating so only recommended for a single or couple on the run.

That's How Burgers suppose to taste these guys don't rely on other factors such as brioche or sweet buns to bring out the flavors in their burgers this is nicely done by their flavorsome patty fresh healthy non greasy and non pretentious and value for money burgers and Chips are same they cook them fresh with their home made chicken salt.
My favorites Spicer and Tango Simpsons and in Chips Their Poutine with 2 cheese and home made thick country style gravy highly recommended !!
Curistul
Good big burgers that were fresh and generously filled with toppings for a reasonable price! This little burger joint holds much surprise for the popularity and quality of its burgers. However, the shop is rather small and the tables are very limited so do be prepared to have a takeaway instead. I got the Cheeseburger Classic along with chips and also the poutine with my friends. The burger was nice and flavourful but it wasn't the best burger I have had taking the flavour in consideration. The burger wasn't greasy at all and the beef patty was well cooked. ย The chips too were crisp and well seasoned, however, I didn't really like the seasoning salt flavour and found them a tad bit undercooked as I like my chips to be on the softer side. The poutine wasn't the good in my opinion. It was just as the description described: chips topped generously with gravy and cheese but the gravy itself wasn't the best and I couldn't really taste the cheese both in the Poutine and in the burger even though it was clearly there. Overall a pleasant experience and a good value for a filling and tasty meal but if you're looking for quality rather than value, I suggest trying somewhere else!
HelenLa
Hands down one of the best burgers
It's flavoursome, fresh and pure. Unlike the other burger joints, Simpsons burgers gives it a real authenticity to the burger culture.

Pro's: Really quick, burgers aren't greasy and the price is quite reasonable
Cons: The bun wasn't toasted :(ย

This little gem smack bang in the middle of Melbourne's CBD produces pretty amazing burgers. The patty is huge, the flavours are great and the chips were really well seasoned. If you want to sit down and eat, forget it, unless you are one of the lucky few who scores one of the limited seats, so be prepared to go for a walk to a nearby food court or park to enjoy your burger :)

Overall, great place, I'll definitely go back again for lunch sometime!

Never had the burgers but I'm a massive sucker for the chips covered in gravy. Nothing better on a cold Melbourne winters day. Been meaning to try the burgers but keep getting the chips.

Great burger (Cheeseburger classic) for just $7.90 - I also got a side of onion rings, which I added a few of to my burger to add extra crunch. When I was first handed the sauce I thought for sure I could have done with twice as much, but I ended up having some leftover once finishing the onion rings

The place is small, but right near Treasury Gardens which is great to eat lunch at on a sunny Autumn day

Had the garden dream. Wasn't bad but average, bland.
Cheese wasn't melted and didn't taste the avocado or the sauce
place was clean but staff didn't look too happy

This place is really popular in my whole building where I work so I have to try this one when i came here i didnt know what to expect, first bite of my double cheese burger told me why this place is so popular burger patty was very nicely cook and it tasted really fresh and healthy, crunchy lettus and good homemade sauce was accompaning the beef the way it should have, they have wide variety of chicken and beef burgers too and this place is super afforable. Will be back next time

Just because some shops looks small and non trendy doesn't mean they can't produce the great burgers this little shops certainly is one of those non pretentious shop with non pretentious burger can beat any burger shops in my opinion. Fresh and quality beef made just before your eyes from the scratch and not to mention very very affordable happy to know there are still few shops exist which can get you good quality food with affordable prices highly recommended .

Friend and I swung past for a feed, Just had the slicer was a solid solid 7.5/10. Great fast service and at a reasonable price for the CBD, a lot better then some of the shops I've been to

This my first review I am new to this whole zomato thingy so forgive me if I don't write like a pro , coming to the Simpsons I have been to many places but there is something about this place which is unique call it big and different type range of burgers they have or their burgers are healthy and non greasy unlike many others places I have been to , I have seen them making their own burger patties and on the top you can even see while your food is getting cooked in front of your eyes, also this place is affordable would highly recommend this underdog place and try their delicious burgers

Me & some mates decided to give this place a go, the place itself is very small. It was dirty inside, & very very hot even the staff were busting a major sweat behind the counter! When we ordered, we were given a piece of old cardboard with numbers which was our order numbers! not impressed!!
We ordered several items, 1st was the big boy burger (basically the lot), bacochesse (standard cheese burger), spicy chicken burger, chicken & avocado, gravy chips & the poutine with bacon bits (its just gravy & cheese chips). All the burger buns were old & stale, there wasn't enough sauce which made it harder to eat coz all you could taste was the old bun. The meat patties were dry & bland, kinda needed a pinch of salt. The chicken breast wasn't too bad, had a nice charcoal grill taste. The poutine was ok, but what let it down was the oily bacon, which overpowered the gravy. The highlight of the night was the gravy chips, that gravy was spot on & the seasoning of the chips was delicious, would definitely eat the gravy chips again but sadly overall I didn't enjoy this place, & wouldn't recommend it :(

The chips were freshly fried, but for some reason they weren't piping hot...which is strange. They were disappointing for freshly fried chips to be honest. Soft, not crispy at all, and a bit too salty for my liking. The sweet honey mustard sauce was OK. Couldn't taste the honey at all. Could have done without the sauce. I will return to try their burgers some time but I'll probably give the chips a miss next time.

Had the bacocheese burger with the chips and drink combo ($5 extra) which wasn't bad - the chips were really good, the seasoning was tasty - but the burger was quite heavy and it only says in-store that a wholemeal roll is 90c extra - no-where on the menu. It was a satisfying meal but I probably won't be in a rush to eat there again. Alright for every now and then though.

Was excited to finally come and try this little burger joint near the corner of Bourke and Russell and whilst I liked the burger, if I'm comparing this to NYB, then it's not as good value (when getting a combo).

I opted for the Big Boy (aka the lot) and it was pretty hard to eat as it kept falling apart. Where I could take a bite, it was very satisfying with the combination of egg, cheese, bacon and patty. Oh and the lettuce of course. The mustard mayo was a nice addition too.

However, $16 for the combo is a bit much when NYB can be had for $12.5... Hence why the rating difference.
Gee
Consistently great. This is my go to local for burgers and also chips n gravy if I just need a snack. Staff are nice and friendly too. Try it!

Many of my followers have been wondering where I've been over the last few years. I will begin by addressing some of the rumours floating aboutย - no, I was not 'offed' byย some disgruntled burger proprietor. Truth is, I haven't been eating burgers too regularly ever since I found my love for Stereosonic. This chiseled physique doesnโ€™t just happen.
Simpsons Chips & Burgers is aย tiny place that isย easy to miss โ€“ if you happen to not notice the large colourful overhanging sign displaying "Simpons Burgers 20 metres ahead", that is. On this occasion I had the Chicken &ย Avocado (โ€˜C&Aโ€™) burger on its own. Before you start thinking things like "why would one order a chicken burger?" or "why would one eat a burger without the chips?", I will premise my review with the following:
(a) Refer to abovementioned comment re Stereosonic
(b) I was wearing tight white pants on the day (rookie error + refer to abovementioned comment re Stereosonic).

To the C&A burger. Now, we all know that when rating a non-beef burger such as a chicken burger,
pork burger, or Lord forbid - a veggie burger, we need to bear in mind the GBWAS (which for the uninitiated, stands for "Global Burger Weighted Average Scale"). Without getting too technical, the GBWAS is required because a beef burger will be inherently better than a non-beef burger.ย They cannot be compared like-for-like. That would be akin to making an outlandish statement like "thatย celery stickย was better than that choc brownie". It just doesn't work. So before people start jumping up and down saying "how can a chicken burger at Simpsons possibly score a 4/5
when the beef burgers are being scored 4.5/5?", please bear in mind that my score of 4/5 is one that has already been scaled according the GBWAS.

While awaiting on my C&A burger I noticed that the entrance of this place was crowded with folk
from all walks of life - office staff, taxi drivers, tradies from the nearby construction site, and a guy with really really long hair. So when writing this review I asked myself whether my rating has been influenced by 'perceived
popularity'. Well I can confidently say that this has not been the case, based on previous experiences dining here alone on a late Friday evening after a date gone wrong. I also now realise that those tradies were not actually waiting around for burgers but wereย simply there toย check out the fine office-type ladies walking past in their tight skirts. Winning.
When I was enjoying my burger, my pesky colleagues insisted on continuously interrupting my meal with
seemingly menial comments and questions such as - "why don't they open more stores?". I mostly ignored their unsolicited comments and I can only hope for their sake that this was their attempt at filling the awkward silence within
the lunch room. Needless to say, my next visit to Simpsons burger will be alone .

I will however, leave them with the following quote from Albert Einstein: "Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted".

Best damn small businesses to ever sell a burger in the CBD of Melbourne. If you've had a big night out or just feel like a juicy burger, Simpsons has it covered!

Decided to try out some new burgers, tried the Spicer and tasted great. The customer service I recieved was good, and the atmosphere is really cute.
Simone
Decent burgers in an affordable price range. It's an unpretentious little joint and sure as hell beats lining up in a long queue at Fed Square for Mr Burger when you can get the same quality here in less than half the time.
Cusack_is_here
This place is very small that's probably why it's very easy to miss but they produce very high quality burgers first thing you realise when you bite them that the taste of the burgers very clean and they are healthier despite the big size everything taste so fresh and very affordable

This was by far the best burger I've tasted in Melbourne! I would recommend anyone who is in the city to try the burgers here! The price of the burgers are fair and you get a lot for your money. The burger patty tastes really juicy and you can tell that a lot of fresh ingredients were used in the process. If you're on the burger hunt in Melbourne make sure you get yourself here!

On a quite Monday afternoon, I went out to get a quick feed before class. I stumbled across Simpson's. I only order the big boy but it did NOT disappoint. The meat with cheese melted on top WITH mustard and tomato fused all together...... It was amazing.

I'm pretty stoked with this place. It's very small, but the burgers are fantastic. Simple, Juicy, and tasty. Up there with the best of them in Melbourne for sure.

Beautifully burgers, best in Melbourne. Simple but very tasty with the smoky flavor from the grill. Chips where really good seasoned with a cheesy salt.
Sarah
Very simple, delicious, healthier and affordable burgers and this sets this place apart from the crowd of other burger places we have now a days. highly recommended

Simple, tasty, and well cooked burger! Add $5.5 and you'll get chips and on can drink. The chips is excellent. Its not too hard to find an old school burger in the city after all.

Tasty Burger treat. Tasty treat with quality and flavours made me join urbunspoon .

Simple, hearty burgers. The burgers and chips served here at Simpsons were simple yet truly delicious! Don't be expecting gourmet, truffle-oil/wagyu level fare here, but this place hits the spot for comfort food. The burger patty had a generous amount of onion mixed among the beef which I liked. I'm not usually a fan of plain white bread but the buns used at Simpsons were so soft and fluffy. For only $7.90, I highly recommend the cheeseburger especially after a few drinks. Definitely don't look past this small, unassuming place.

Best burger in Au. Double cheeseburger with an egg and French style bun...Amazing...I dine there every day for the last 6 month and the burgers are consistently delicious. Well done guys!!!
Annette
Simple, not pretentious burgers. Juicy and very very tasty! We had the spicer, chicken avocado and simpson's burger. All great! Beef patties definitely home made not some frozen stuff. Chicken juicy and flavoursome. All together, if you want a decent, tasty burger for a good price - $7-$10 make sure you give it a try!!!

Great burger. I'll keep this simple - great burger and chips at a reasonable price.
Recommended.

Recommended!. Honestly best burger I've tasted in Melbourne, especially with the poutine.

Great Food. Food was great, I ordered a spicy chicken burger sandwich and it was fantastic.
The service is amazing and the staff are so friendly.
For the quality of the food the price is so cheap..
Andrew
It's alright..... The burgers are okay, they are a decent size and the flavour is there. Is it a Danny's or Andrew's burger? Certainly not!

The prices are good, but not as good as Danny's and the menu is just all over the joint. I found the place was also uncomfortable so asking for 'take away' was not even a 1 second thought for me.

I had a big boy and i was pretty full after that so you get what you pay for.

Little concerned about this urbanspoon reviews, some of the accounts are brand new with 1 post. hm...
