The Westin has partnered with Four Pillars to bring a truly delicious menu celebrating the best of Australian seafood and gin. Beyond the three new Four Pillars gin cocktails on offer, every dish also incorporates a Four Pillars 'Made From Gin' product in creative and unexpected ways.
We loved tasting our way through the three tiered seafood feast featuring delicious gin-infused seafood treats such as crumpets with Yarra Valley creme fraiche, Balmain bug sandwich, barramundi scotched egg, oysters with Four Pillars Rare Dry gin and red snapper dressing and Port Phillip Bay scallops with Four Pillars orange and mustard glaze, dill and parsley.
You will find Allegro Restaurant within Westin Hotel Melbourne. For entree I would recommend the Char-grill Skull Island prawns or the Crudo hiramasa kingfish both $28. Our group tried 4 of the mains on offer (all around $38), the lamb, pork, fish and duck. We enjoyed them all. The mushroom and tarragon pot pie and pumpkin were great side dishes and accompaniments to the meal.
There are currently Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired desserts and cocktails available. Would suggest you try these while they are available.
Came here specifically for High Cheese High Tea. The service is exceptional, the waitress was friendly attentive and was an expert help when we asked her if she could take a photo of our group at the table! Each item was explained including the order to eat our way through the stand. Hopefully it’ll be back next year!
High Seas High Tea review!
I loved everything about this high tea! There was not one bad component!
The savory scones were really interesting but surprisingly good.
The Crab Croquettes, Poached Shrimp Pot and the Bloody Mary Oyster were my favourites!
The cost of the high tea was $89, but worth every cent!
This restaurant sure knows how to do a high tea! I went and did the High Seas high tea on the weekend and the food was absolutely delightful. The seafood was fresh and well presented. Highlight items off the menu were the spanner crab croquettes, the lobster tacos (so much lobster, just wished the corn tortilla was nicer and didn’t taste like cardboard) and the four pillars gin frozen marmalade custard.
I unfortunately had to take a star off of the dining experience as I didn’t feel that the customer service delivered was up to my expectations. Staff were not the most attentive and a pet peeve of mine is when staff do not communicate credit card surcharges when paying.
Merry Xmas eve at Allegro couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend with my fiancé for dinner. Don’t let the rating fool you but from our experience last night it was worth a 5 star rating. The waiter we had was very professional and polite, the food was very delicious and was cooked well. The best was that duck breast cooked to perfection one of the best duck dishes I had and will be back for this dish alone.
3.5 ⭐️. What’s better than high tea? Champagne? Yes.. and what else? Cheese of course! Westin teamed up with Maker & Monger and made some fingerlicken good cheese delicacies. Did you know that lactose intolerant people can eat cheese? (Phew- they can live a full life after all! 🙃) Highlights: beautifully presented with all the little details considered. Mini baguettes with baked camembert - how cute is that? Lowlights: service more or less stopped after the place got a bit busier. The cannolis just wasn’t quite right. A tad too much cheese on top of the figs - but hey, what am I saying? It’s a cheese high tea after all.
my boyfriend & i went for high cheese and oh boy was it cheesy! it was worth every penny in my opinion although some cheeses were a little too strong for me (my boyfriend loved the strong cheese dishes though). definetely worth a visit!
I had Valentine’s Day dinner at Allegro Restaurant, and over all I had a really pleasant experience!
The Valentine’s Day themed cocktail birds and the bees was really cute! 🐝 It was also a very strong drink so it wasn’t watered down.
For entree I had the raw kingfish. Such a beautiful presented dish and so tasty! We also tried the oysters but they were quite average when compared with the kingfish entree. My date was jealous of my kingfish entree, that’s for sure!
For the rest of the courses we chose the same dishes. The wagyu was amazing! I don’t eat as much meat anymore but wow, that was something amazing!
The chocolate dessert was nice but too much chocolate even for me! I would definitely recommend Allegro to my friends!
Rather surprised at the very mixed reviews as we had a very enjoyable dining experience. Ambiance was good on the Saturday night we dined with well spaced tables. Service was excellent. Our server gave us good advice around portion sizes so my wife had the entree prawns as a main and we supplemented with excellent sides. My ancient grain "risotto" was very tasty and a very filling portion. All dishes were piping hot.
We paused for a while to find room for delicious and well presented desserts including a creative take on tiramisu.
As an earlier reviewer pointed out, wine list is interesting but a bit pricey. I was driving so a glass of Tamar Valley Riesling was a good option.
Food pricing is fair for an upmarket restaurant in a 5 star hotel but becomes good value with my SPG discount.
We visited while staying at The Westin but will return even when not staying at the Hotel. The A La Carte menu provided more than sufficient choice and were delightfully displayed. The were a good range of entrees and the scallops were delicious. We had eye fillet which melted in the mouth and was perfectly done and the sides were so substantial that we couldn't countenance "attacking" the desserts which looked delightful. The wine range was good if not a little "pricey". The service was first class and the staff was extremely attentive and made for a lovely meal "out".
A sophisticated atmosphere befitting of its location, with top-class service. The menu reads elegantly and deliciously with dishes such as roast duck with compressed peaches and fennel, which was lovely. Even for a top-end hotel restaurant, prices were on the expensive side - the only let-down for an otherwise excellent establishment.
Tidy little meal here for $39. Reasonable choice. Nice dishes. A very nice salad and a beautifully tender and excellently cooked chicken breast. Nice Chardonnay to accompany them. Service was a tad stiff and formal. Apart from the food, the key thing I liked was the restaurant space itself. Nicely designed and laid out with very generous space between tables. I like the place and I'd happily return.
Dined here last week and the food was absolutely amazing. Pan seared scallops were melt in your mouth with perfectly cooked greens and the cucumber ketchup delish.
I had a steak for main the scotch Fillet cooked to perfection and the mash so fluffy. My partner had the lamb again beautifully pink and tender
Highly recommended
Mademoiselle Mange A Sydney
+4.5
The clams and shrimps are fresh, the bisque jus is a nice addition and the three flavours are quite balanced. Not one seafood actually takes over the others, so I’m finding it quite nice. Highly recommended.
Brad and I went out for dinner on Thursday night, which looks like is becoming a bit of a trend...whilst we originally had decided on going to Bar Lourihna, since he hadn't been ever and I hadn't been in almost 2 years, we walked up to the door and found
Most perfect dining experience to date. Dined with Allegro Sunday evening before the theatre and couldn't have had a lovelier experience. The restaurant doesn't officially open for dinner until 6.00pm, but opened at 5.00pm especially for the two of us. We were greeted by a wonderfully mannered waiter who treated us to a free entree, and the perfect balance of privacy and undivided attention. The Gnocchi, although small-portioned, was satisfying and exquisite in flavours. The desserts were likewise mouth watering, and the suggested wines complimented the meals wonderfully. For $60.00 a head, the quality service, dreamy atmosphere, three courses and wine were a bargain. We also had a drink at the downstairs lounge before heading up to the restaurant, and the service excelled there also. Will certainly be returning to both.
Breakfast good as ever. Have eaten here for breakfast during my stays here over the last decade or so. What wasn't present this morning was Jerry who's been here the entire time - it was his day off though - lucky since he really makes superb omelettes.
Also the usual items were there although no jam and custard doughnuts. With the other guy working there while Jerry was off I asked for the eggs benedict and these were great - lots of hollandaise. If you're there for breakfast make sure to have a waffle with choice of syrup or chocolate/raspberry sauce with the fresh cream from the centre console - a great combination.
Allegro restsurant has implemented a new menu which has evolved from the last menu. They have a new team of chefs to bring a more modern australian style dishes, trying to use australian produce where possible and available.
I love this restaurant! Perfect and delicious food and excellent and friendly service from the wait staff. 5 stars! Everything on the menu is fabulous.
Good Sunday Lunch. We were heading to a Sunday matinee at the theatre so wanted something good but not rushed. Allegro does a special lunch on Sunday for $79/head which includes a glass of Chandon or a special beer. The entree and main are both interesting. The entree was a mix of three - prawn cocktail (2 large king prawns), a single fresh oyster and 3 slices of home made salami with fennel. All were fresh & tasty. The main is a sharing plate of three choices. We had fish, turkey and pork all served with fresh sauces, baked vegetables and salad. Not overly large but perfect size for lunch and all were cooked very well. Each was moist and full of flavor. The desert and cheese are self serve from a central point with plenty of choice. In addition to a good location and some live jazz in the background, the service was also very good.
Superb. Excellent food, service and range. Classy decor
Love It. I Love Allegro...it is just 5 stars on every aspect of dining. I have been here a number of times and have been extremely happy with the food, the service and the ambience of Allegro!! Definately a must try and absolutely beautiful at Christmas time to go have a drink at the martini Bar downstairs before your meal and look out onto the big Christmas display out the front on Swanston Street.
My family and I went there for dinner tonight for my parents anniversary. Food was spectacular! So well presented and so tasty. Quiet and relaxed environment and polite staff. Everyone on our table only had nice things to say about their meals, so we left happy!
Yay and Nay. Beautiful crafted dishes in ample portions but menu was limited and entree consisted of mainly seafood.
Considerably long waiting time considering it was a very quite Wednesday night.
Staff were friendly and courteous with a unique name badge showing their name and interests serving as a conversation starter with customers. Unfortunately, one of their staff who served us dressed in a disgusting, filthy shirt - understandable if this was a Subway or Hungry Jack's but having dirt all over your shirt is not quite appropriate for a Westin Hotel restaurant staff!!
Sensational!. Went to Allegro before a show at the Regent Theatre. The staff got my seat and order quickly, being mindful of the time. Got the tenderloin - cooked to perfection with mouth-watering red wine jus. I was so full after eating it. Sensational restaurant; highly recommended. Only $59 for my meal and a glass of wine.
Not Bad, Couild be Better. Not a bad restaurant overal. This is the 3rd time I have eaten here. I find the menu a little limiting, but the atmosphere is interesting and staff really warm and pleasent to deal with. The food is good, not great and that suprises me becuase it is the type of restaurant which should have great innovative food.
Delish. Very upmarket dining.
Great service.
Presentation of food was imaculate.
Definitely have to try this place.
Indeed, a gastronomic experience.
Recommended.
Classy yet unpretentious. I'm appalled this has such poor ratings! Allegro has been a long favourite of mine, as I've always found the food delicious, the service impeccable and I've personally found the atmosphere and feel of the place classy, but unpretentious. Whilst not uber cool like Melbourne tends to ask for, it is always a safe option in my eyes.
Great for the continental breakfast or the quick theatre menu. Service good but the place could do with a bit more style.
