Review Shop 225 - Melbourne

I had the best time today for lunch! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. There are so many things on the menu, and the tables/scenery make you feel like you are in Italy. Definitely the best in the area!

Dined here for the first time on what you can see in pics and a bowl of chips. Service was friendly. Food tasty, but a little too heavy on the pocket. Gluten free options are good for those in need.

The wafting smell of wood fired pizza @Shop_225 right opposite the tram stop made me place a takeaway order. Il Dottore Pomodoro, fior di latte, home-made calabrian sausage, italian porcini and parsley Delicious pizza, lovely thin base, love the tomato sauce, you can taste the parsley, soft tender mushrooms, excellent flavour. Shame it wasn't all that hot, must have got missed in the flurry of orders coming through despite arriving early. Tiramisu I love tiramisu and this was excellent. Soft, light, creamy, chocolatey, and the coffee hit of soaked sponge fingers. Excellent. #ItalianFood #pizza #woodfiredpizza #ItalianSausage #Pomodoro #tiramisu #sweettooth #dessert #foodie #melbournefood @zomatomelb

Great food, friendly Italian staff, pleasure to watch the food preparation as well. This place is an Italian gem!

Incredibly tasty pizzas! Plenty of vegan options! This pizza shop gets busy! And it’s for good reason. Generous toppings, flavoursome food and their pizza bases are perfect! Thanks for the great feed!

This restaurant was just delightful and I cannot wait to visit again! My sister and I visited Shop 225 after we were recommended by a friend who has Coeliac Disease. This beautiful restaurant is not only accredited with Coeliac Australia, however, every single item on their menu can be made to be Vegan, Gluten Free or BOTH! We were greeted by such beautiful staff and were checked on multiple occasions throughout the duration of our meal. They have a beautiful courtyard out the back of the restaurant filled with aesthetic tables, pretty plants and gorgeous lights to make the dining experience even more enjoyable. We tried the Radicchio Salad and Arancini for Entrees as recommended by the owner. We had never had Radicchio salad before and we think it will be our new go to - IT WAS DELICIOUS! We than had the Caprese Salad, Zio Pino Pizza and Gnocchi Sorrentina for mains. Each dish was so full of authentic Italian flavours!!! Make sure you book this restaurant before dining - we came on a Monday night and it was a full house. This speaks for how yummy the food is itself! Thank you for the beautiful experience Shop 225. We can't wait to come back :)

Had yet another excellent pizza here tonight. Brilliant atmosphere and service. Incredibly welcoming and authentic too. Always our number one choice for good quality pizza. Would try the other items on the menu but the pizza is too good.

Beautiful food made by beautiful people! Seriously, this is the best pizza in Melbourne. We had food allergies in our party so they made sure everything they served was FODMAP-friendly. The chef and staff chatted and joked around with us - what an experience. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Beautiful pizza, fresh ingredients, light base, absolutely delicious toppings. I'll miss this place when I move house. Delivery on time too.<br/>
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
Shop 225, one of my favourites for pizza in Melbourne, recently launched a new menu. Calamaro Piccante is full of spicy and punchy flavours. This satisfying calamari dish is stuffed with breadcrumbs, ‘nduja and potato, and the cherry tomato and olive sauce brings extra tang and salt. For something lighter and less fiery, the Carpaccio could be a good pick.

Authentic Italian flavours, quality ingredients and maximal flavour makes the journey to the ‘burbs WELL worth it. Their pizzas are popular with locals - wood fired pizza bases with the perfect crispy and doughy bite, studded with an aromatic smoky char. But there’s more to Shop 225 than just pizzas - plenty of fresh and tasty salads, pastas and stuzzichini (appetisers) to eat… IN ADDITION to their pizzas, of course.

If it’s one thing we both love, it’s Italian food. Shop 225 Pizzeria is a humble, suburban Italian restaurant in Pascoe Vale South that features an indoor, handmade wood-fired pizza oven, the bragging rights of being the first pizzeria in Melbourne with gluten free accreditation, and some of the best Italian desserts that I have yet tried! Driven by a simple Italian ethos and a true passion in sharing their cuisine with Melbourne, owners Lorenzo and Roberto have built a restaurant that just keeps Melbourne locals coming back for more.

Vegan pizza? Okay, I’m in 🙋‍♀️🤩<br/><br/>I’m pretty sure that Lorenzo is one of those people that as a child, would be playing in his play dough kitchen and would stare at the empty space in front of him, thinking... how to fill that emptiness! 👌 Yes, he’s that type of person that looks at this world and thinks: what can I create that will make EVERYONE happy?<br/><br/>So, in 2016 he and his pal Roberto opened their humble pizzeria Shop225, in the one and only Pascoe Vale area. Honestly I don’t think the area would be more appropriate because every time I visit it, I always ALWAYS know I will have a great cosy and wholesome meal.<br/><br/>I had seen them in expos and other places, but to be honest, the line had always been WAAAAAY too long 😂 why? Because they are bloody amazing! 👏 yes, it’s been in my bucket list for ages, and finally I decided to visit their place and try their vegan pizza 🤩<br/><br/>And not just pizza! They have vegan arancini! Vegan lasagna and gnocchi! Vegan Nutella! Basically the whole menu is or has a vegan option! 👏🤩<br/><br/>And while the dough takes 72-hours to get ready, and you might need to wait a little while in line, OH MAN, IT IS WORTH IT 👏 an absolute pleasure!<br/><br/>The venue is slightly far from the city centre but like I said DEFINITELY WORTH IT. Let’s not be lazy and support the businesses that have fought so much to get to where they are now. They are so kind and into hospitality and costumer care that they even create menu items with bloggers. And that says something! Not every place would be 1-loved so much by us bloggers and ‘good’ enough so we would want to create a menu item for them and 2-be willing to work with ‘costumers’ and let them create something that they represent.<br/><br/>The thing is that, it works. And it makes everyone happy. And they are amazing just for that, not to mention the amazing AMAZING quality and interesting food 👌<br/><br/>The venue was packed and again that only reinforces my thoughts and opinion about these people. They have an outdoor area with some heaters, an inside main area, completely full and filled with movement and agitation characteristics of Italians 😂 as it should be for sure! And then next to it there’s a massive oven with their logo. There’s also a way to the back through what it seems a little laneway, leading to a more private dining area, with tables that are extremely colourful and with the characteristic European ‘azulejo’. The tiles! There are a couple of light above that are and it would be someone where I picture a couple going out for sure and have an incredible time. <br/><br/>When it comes to the food, I seriously wanted to try a couple of things but at the same time bed respectfully for the busy times so here’s what we ended up having:<br/><br/>- Calamaro Piccante - my friend had this meal and basically wasn’t what he expected! We thought that by the name, it would be some calamari like in most venues, crops and crumbly, with some sauces on the side. But no! It was actually one single large calamari filled with breadcrumbs, ‘nduja and potato, served with a cherry tomatoes and olive sauce. My friend said the spiciness to it was just right and absolutely perfect. I thought the size and portion was very adequate too and it came with a nice looking sourdough bread.<br/><br/>- Vegan Arancini - OMG OMG OMG. An absolute must. This is the traditional sicilian rice ball made vegan and to be honest I don’t really know what ingredients there were insane but WOW. Of course there is the rice but it seemed to be something like sticky rice? And then a sauce of mushrooms maybe and the cheese and WOW WOW WOW 🤩 not only are the ball sizes amazing but the actual taste is outstanding! This is actually one of their most popular meals and I completely understand why. I could eat a million of these. And a million more. It’s definitely a must try indeed. And wait, there’s more! It actually comes with a blue dip that is absolutely terrific. I asked what was in it and it’s actually a blend that even has vinaigrette in it which you would expect to have a more acidic touch but not at all! Absolutely nailed it - it’s a 11/10!<br/><br/>- The Miri - I had one of the special pizzas made by a blogger of course! And one I absolutely admire and although I have yet to met her in person, I truly respect her and her work 🙏 she is absolutely fantastic and she has created a winner pizza too for these guys! I wouldn’t expect anything else to be honest and I’m even surprised with some of the ingredients used but it definitely reflects her personally and what I think she represents in person. The pizza has flor di latte, some cute little cherry tomatoes that match very nicely with THE BEST vegan salame. This was actually my first time having vegan salami and I am a total fan. I am actually not a lover of salami and I tend to avoid it due to being an animal product but I remember the taste when I have tried it in the past and I know I didn’t particularly like it. But this? OH MAAAAAAN 👌 it also comes with friarelli, chilli pistacchio pesto and truffle oil and the pesto in there is just to die for. As it is the vegan cheese. Portion size, these guys are absolutely generous and my friend could only even eat half a pizza (he took away the other half ☺️)! I would not get tired of this, ever and I cannot recommend it more. It is special edition so it will only be available for a few weeks/time, so if you’re reading this, I encourage everyone to pop by and try it for themselves! It is A BLAST!<br/>One final note for the dough - terrific! In all pizzas that were coming out, I could see that they do pay a lot of attention to this and the fact that the dough rests for 72h before being cooked slows it to become more digestible and easier on the gut. Actually Lorenzo explained to us the whole story why they did it and how it helped with his wife’s gut issues 🙏 and you can also see how personalised and loved each pizza is because they make it such those iconic and undoubtedly Italian style, with their hands on and imperfect in circle shape but absolutely perfect in being imperfect 👌 I don’t think I could love a pizza more 😂<br/><br/>- Il Dottore - my friend had this pizza and it wasn’t vegan, as they also have ‘normal’ ones 😂 but I’m sure it can be made vegan because as I’ve mentioned almost everything can be turned into a plant based option! With pomodoro, fior di latte and home-made calabrian sausage, italian porcini and parsley not only does it look similar to a margarita, the classic Italian pizza, but it looks like that with a tiiiiiiiny special touch 👌 of course. He loved it and even though he couldn’t finish it, since the size is indeed relatively large (what can I say, I’m a big eater 😂) he said it was perfect!<br/><br/>- Vegan Nutella Pizza - to finish off the meal, I couldn’t leave without trying the famous nutella pizza. I had heard waaaaaaay too much about it and it sure makes justice to it. The dough is slightly thicker than the savoury and main pizzas and I think it makes sense since you want it to be a little more consistent for the vegan nutella be nicely spread over it. The pizza is quite simple itself and with that 72h dough base, they spread with a large pencil the vegan nutella. On top you can have the option of strawberries and some sugar icing or pistachio. Since I wanted to try the pistachio spread (because looooooooove) but at the same time wanted a little crunch to it, we added the spread and the strawberries 😂 can I get a truck of these? 😍😂 I was also told that Lorenzo sells the spread to other pizzas as they have the best and one of the only vegan nutella version available around the area. Next time, I’m sure to stock up on a little jar indeed!<br/><br/>As a final note, I just want to reinforce again that basically everything in this place can be made vegan upon request, and they have all alternatives that you could ever think of. The cheese that it is used is dairy free (their local brand is called localcraft for all of their products) and the meat components are also plant based. Because they literally make their own nutella too and if you want you can take it home with you too in little pots that they have for sale. Their pizzas can also be made gluten free and all of their gluten free menu options are Accredited by Coeliac Australia and they have many checks in order to minimise any risk of cross contamination.<br/><br/>Make sure you visit them ASAP and ask for the Miri because that thing is NEXT LEVEL INDEED 👌🤭 this place has so much love and care that I will definitely visit again and is on my top favourites 🤗 A MUST!

Beautiful traditional Italian food with excellent Gluten free & Vegan options!

Nearly everything on the menu can be made vegan and gluten free.

Shop 225 is managed by the same team as Il Caminetto, however the menu differentiates with a bigger offering of vegan and gluten free pizzas. Our choice of woodfire pizza this time was the Capricosa (just normal, not VGO of GF though). As expected the base was crispy with toasty flavour, topped with tomato, fior di latte (a semi soft fresh cheese), mushroom, ham, olives with addition of anchovies. The anchovies were delightfully salty, and made the pizza taste exceptionally strong.

What do you think when you’re visiting Authentic Italian Restaurant? Surely most of you will be thinking of Pizza, Pasta and Arancini. Yeap, that’s what came inside our mind when we’re on the way to Shop 225 Pizzeria to attend our invitation. Shop 255 Pizzeria, Pascoe Vale. I am low key obsessed with this restaurant! I have come here many times and each time I am blown away with what I eat. Tonight I ordered a pizza on the specials menu called ‘cremosa’, this needs to be a regular menu item. No word of a lie this is the best pizza I’ve ever eaten... and I’ve been to Italy!

Coeliac Aus certified and easily the best GF pizza you’ll find in Melbourne. The food was exceptional with so so so many GF vegan options (which is hard to find that as a combination), great organic wine and fantastic customer service. We will be back and have already decided what we’ll order next time so we can work our way through the menu!

Fantastic experience going to Shop 225. <br/>As a Coeliac I’m always on the hunt for great gluten free food that taste like normal food, and this place was no exception! <br/>The pizza crust was crunchy and soft at the same time with all the toppings tasting fresh with so much flavour.<br/>The generous serving of pasta was so good and of course cooked al dente. <br/>To finish off a great meal I ended with the tiramisu and it didn’t disappoint! <br/>This is a high recommendation from me.
Thats My Food
I was invited to try the food at Shop 225 Pizzeria and I was very impressed with what they had to offer. They have a lot of really awesome dishes prepared the traditional way which I loved to try. Shop 225 is located almost at the corner of Bell Street and Melville road. When I went there, tram works were going on and it was a bit hard to find a parking spot near the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty busy for a weekday night. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. The menu had a lot of options and on top of their regular menu, they have a weekly specials menu as well. I ordered A Modo Mio ($25) from the specials menu and Arancini ($15), 4 Formaggi Pizza ($24), A Modo Mio ($25), Spaghetti Carbonara ($21), Cassatta ($13), and a Tiramisu ($10) from their regular menu.
Quince And Cheese
This spot is an absolute dream if you're vegan or vegetarian. They can make nearly every item on the menu free of meat, eggs and dairy yet they taste just as good. I tried the vegan version of the sausage, porcini and parsley pizza which features incredible house-made vegan cheese. I also loved the rigatoni with fried eggplant and salted ricotta as well as the roquette salad. The drinks selection is pretty classic for an Italian restaurant but we'll executed. There are also a range of delicious desserts including a creamy vegan tiramisu. In addition to all the good food, the ambiance is really nice and service is great. If you're planning a visit, be sure to book as this spot fills up fast.

Really good pizza, and friendly service. Le conto sulle dita delle mani le pizzerie così buone, in Italia...

penne bolognese – which is one of the most flavoursome bolognese’s I’ve had in. Melbourne - is another excellent choice. And of course, it’s hard to go past. one of their extensive range of woodfire pizzas. . With such delicious food, it’s no wonder it was packed to the brim on a. Wednesday night. Shop 225 is definitely on the recommendation list.

The staff were absolutely beautiful and the meals were cooked with love. 10/10 recommend this place !

Super duper delicious food. Been a couple of times and the food just gets better!! Service was a little slow tonight, but has been better previously. So many gluten free options and coeliac aust accredited!!

Very busy shop, even on a Tuesday night. Lots of sit-in customers plus a steady stream of Uber drivers collecting take away. Warm, friendly welcome. Quick, efficient service, both in taking the order, delivering drinks, and delivering food (and later, dessert). Pizzas are big, nice chewy crust. Many different varieties available on the regular menu plus specials. We tried the carbone (a carbonara on a pizza) and the capricciosa. Recommend sharing the tiramisu as the serve is very large. Very reasonably priced and overall a nice little night out.

🎶 hey yumbo, yumbo Italiano 🎶<br/><br/>This place really puts the ‘mamma’ in Mamma Mia, as in, ‘Mamma Mia that was delicious, cheers dawg’.<br/><br/>Get the fettuccine with squid ink. It’s so good it made me squirt my own ink. Cheers

An absolute treat and worth every calorie! This is our usual pizza place and I love their mushroom and truffle oil pizza. The dough is light and beautiful! We have also had the Nutella pizza and tiramisu and both were great. When it’s pizza..it’s just shop225..can’t be disappointed!

Amazing pizza and great service!! The food came out very quickly from the kitchen and it was fabulous! Keep up the great work guys !! Highly recommend

Very disappointing food and experience<br/>The pizza base was nice the garlic pizza tasted like bread with nothing on it the carbonara was way to oily it was at least half a cup of oil at the bottom of the plate my pizza was lacking flavour and ingredients it had cherry tomato cut into quarters and some prosciutto tomatoes won't even cooked.<br/>The waitress was friendly.<br/><br/>😥😥😥😥😥😥......I WONT BE BACK....... 😥😥😥😥😥<br/><br/>

Absolutely delicious pizza and pasta!! Hidden gem, i highly recommend if you are craving pizza or pasta. Staff were really friendly its a cosy restaurant

The good ratings on Zomato took us to this local pizzeria and wow was it good or what?! <br/>So ecstatic to have such a yummy pizzeria in our hood. <br/>The pizza and pasta were top class - the cheese just melted away in our mouth. The Tiramisu was utterly delightful. <br/>If I had to find fault in anything, I would say the arancini was a bit too dense.. but the rest of the meal was so good that this place deserves a 5! We know we’ll be frequenting this place now..

Small and simple little Italian Pizzeria. Service QUICK. Employees all Italian so have a conversation with them in Italian if you can hold one. Friendly. Food is excellent and very tasty. Advice, book a table as it does get busy weekends and make sure you double check with them!
Courtney (@rawpublic_)
The only reason there isn’t more photos to go with this review is because the food was SO DANG GOOD there was no time for photos on top of enjoying our meals.

Best calzone ever! We had a pizza and a calzone and they were both really good! The pizza dough was this, fluffy and well cooked. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. Staff was friendly and efficient.<br/>The shop is also open 7 days a week which is definitely a plus! Well done
Eat Good Melbourne
I’m so glad we came across this little local gem. The restaurant itself doesn’t seat many people and we watched people come in and out picking up takeaway pizza. We were seated near the window and all five of us were impressed with all the food that came out. We ordered two pizzas and two pastas and dessert. The standout dish for myself was the pumpkin gnocchi with butter and sage. Even bae who is predominantly carnivore loved the dish. The pannacotta we had for dessert was silky smooth and just the right amount of sweet. But the tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had. Not too much liquor not too much chocolate and not too creamy. Just the perfect balance. Been craving that pasta and tiramisu since.
Palofee153
seriously delicious! almost every thing has a vegan option which was amazing and the service was great. defnantly recommend the vegan verde pizza and vegan nuttella calzone!
Chartreuse Chameleon
Really poor customer service. I had ordered a pizza for pick up and when I got there the guy looked for the docket with my name and then pretended that it was coming soon when actually turns out later he didn't even have a docket for my pizza. I could see they were busy so I waited like a fool for about 25min (never once having the guy check on me), when I went to check on progress they found my pizza had been there the whole time, only now it was certainly not fresh. Didn't get so much as an apology. The pizzas were better with the original owners anyway, but can't stand that they are obviously quite selective with their customer service, going by other reviews.
Georgia Maccan
Service is impeccable, menu is delicious and all the vegan options whether you’re vegan or not, are incredible and definitely don’t lack flavour. We’re super excited they’re now on UberEats in our area, they’re our favourite pizza place!
AaronN
Food and service here was great. The arancini was moist and cheesy, and the seafood pizza I got was delicious. The pizza bases here were one of the thinnest I've had (for those that like that sorta thing). Recommended.
Food Junkie
Yes, I gave it five stars. The best pizza in Melbourne hands down!! The dining area is pretty small but you can book a table, which is handy. This is authentic Italian pizza with thin delicious dough and fresh toppings. Luckily I don’t live that close to the area, otherwise I’ll be having this every single day.
Lawrencemcsim
So good !!<br/>Was highly recommended to us.<br/>Really authentic Italian atmosphere , Real Italian people running the joint.<br/>Bloody good Pizza .<br/>The service is fantastic.<br/>We booked over the phone & was told they could only give us outdoor sitting.<br/>As we got there early by half an hour, (we came all the way from Sandringham !) they kindly put us in the back court yard provided we finish within an hour.<br/>When the hour up, we were ready to move to the outdoor sitting for dessert but<br/>they told us to sit as they will shuffle the seating around for us!!<br/>The staff are so friendly & attentive (especially the waitress), goes all the way out to makes us feel at home  & the food is absolutely worth the hour drive to savour the pizza . Will definitely come back here again.
Bobby
Amazing vegan pizza.  The base is excellent - chewy, crunchy, soft and delicious.  <br/><br/>The vegan tiramisu has destroyed me - I crave it every day.  Eat in if you can (it's always full) because the pizza's are so much better fresh out of the oven.
Eina
This is the best pizza I have tasted in Melbourne. The pizza base is very tasty and light. I love the prawn pizza but all pizza I have tasted from here are good.

Great service and pizzas came out real quick. Pizza <br/>dough tasted amazing and great texture. Mushroom pizza was best out of all! Would come back

Customer service is outstanding. Dined here on a busy Friday night. The restaurant is quite small and cramped but they try their best to accomodate. We tried the pizza and the pasta (both gluten free), the carbonara was curdled and and we were very disappointed. But the staff noticed we were unhappy and fixed up our meal with a different pasta dish. Despite this, my partner did get sick but we are unsure from where the gluten was present.

Visited Shop 225. Few weeks ago with my family on the basis it had a coeliac accreditation. My son is coeliac and I wanted to go to a restaurant where he can choose anything he wants off the menu as it was gluten free. He loves Spaghetti Bolognese and choose that for his meal. Now we found that some items on the menu were not gluten free or did not have GFO next to it, but the Spaghetti Bolognese had GFO (Gluten Free Option). So my son ordered it, But to our surprise the waitress reported that they could not 100% guarantee that the Bolognese sauce was Gluten Free.... Why have GFO next to a meal on your menu and then say you cannot guarantee that it is Gluten Free, especially having a coeliac accreditation. I was left very disappointed and was forced to order spaghetti with just butter. I was ready to leave after seeing the look on my sons face. We did stay and ate our meals, as it was getting on in the evening, food was ok. But I won’t be returning.

Looking for an authentic Italian place in the inner suburbs of Pascoe Vale? Shop225 have an amazing range of delicious Italian! The must haves include the clam and tomato linguini and the amazing tiramisu!! Vegan and vegetarian options are available too!

First time coming here for my vegan friends bday. This place does excellent Italian food and doesn’t really compromise vegans and gf. I found the vegan mushroom pizza just as good as non vegan pizzas soo good. the vegan lasagna was a stand out too. We finished off with vegan tiramisu which wasn’t what we expected, was a little disappointed. I would not eat it again. It didn’t have any coffee or alcohol taste and was quite dense. <br/>I definitely would return here again to try more of their menu. Thank you for such great hospitality

Superb! <br/>As a vegetarian, it's tough to find places with options but this restaurant is amazing!<br/>Delicious food. The carbonara (which we gulped before we could photograph it) was especially amazing.<br/>Friendly staff and cute ambience make your meal even more enjoyable.<br/>Would definitely recommend 👍🏼

Delicious food and beautiful staff. We made an error with our order after realising our food came out, it was completely our fault! The staff were just fantastic about it and made us a new dish. Definitely the most positive customer service experience I’ve ever had. 100% recommend- Thank you to the lovely staff!
Sophie
What a hidden gem on Melville road! Not only was their pizza second to none, their customer service and restaurant atmosphere was so inviting. Lorenzo was one of our servers tonight, being one of the most down to earth, friendly shop owners we have ever come across. Thank you for a memorable and enjoyable experience, we will be seeing you again.

Really good traditional Italian pizzas with thin bases. We ordered takeaway barone and carbone pizzas which had excellent toppings. The crust was a little soggy in the middle, although I'd be keen to try the pizzas in store to see if that improves things. The chips were nice. Didn't mind the garlic foccacia although I do prefer the usual garlic breads which I find have more garlic flavour on them.
Annalisa Nardi
Excellent dough, one of the best (if not the best) I’ve tried in Australia! And quick service too. Brings me back to Italy! Will definitely go back, only had a Margherita take away

DID YOU KNOW?<br/>- These guys are accredited for producing GLUTEN free pizza, pasta;<br/>- (Almost) the whole menu can be available for VEGANS;<br/>- And that includes gluten free and vegan DESSERTS.<br/><br/>Nothing is better than a good Italian feast in a relaxed environment with honest food and a wide range of choices that caters for all needs. And this is what Shop 225 delivers. <br/><br/>We were seated outside a warmish afternoon. We were provided with the essentials immediately and were given the menus to decide on food and beverage.<br/><br/>We decided to get the Squid Ink Tagliatelle with Prawns and this was one dish that we will return for. It seriously is up there in our list and that alone speaks volumes of how delicious the food is here. The pasta was al dente; the ideal consistency for pasta. TIP: ask for some chilly oil on the side and you will fall in love.<br/><br/>Our pizza was called IL DOTTORE; Italian sausage, Italian mushroom porcini on a GLUTEN FREE base. The base was simply fantastic, we enjoyed it so much and the flavours just made sense.<br/><br/>We finished our dinner with some exceptional and truly traditional desserts. Cannolis and a Chocolate Hazelnut Vegan Calzone. Now, the cannolis were just amazing; the gluten free ricotta ones were just to die for. Simply amazing. The calzone was so loaded with the vegan "Nutella", it was so delicious.<br/><br/>We love the concept of Shop 225; it is such a small venue (only around 45 seats) but it's producing some of the best quality Italian food we have tasted. And for them to be situated in the suburbs and killing it speaks highly of how good this place is. <br/><br/>We cannot wait to return to try more of what these guys make.

If Bell street was a real bell, then this place is the clapper (the swinging bit that makes the ringing sound). Intelligent food for forward thinking clientele who want to look after the environment by going veggo. Somehow these geniuses make everything on the vegan/ veggo menu taste super creamy and meaty even though there is no meat involved. Have a feel of the round bellied pizza oven as you swing past- so lovely and cosy and covered in a gorgeous mosaic. I love this little business.
Alix Reginato
This place makes a great pizza, can not fault them on that. However my experience on sunday with their delivery service was terrible which is why I have to give it two stars.<br/><br/>Long story short: I placed an order online sunday night for delivery. After paying, our payment screen told us delivery would be in 25mins, I understood this time frame was unlikely but expected the delivery within a reasonable time. Over an hour later no pizzas. We called and were told by the first guy that 'pizzas should definitely have been delivered' we got put through to a second person who told us the girls up the front put the order through as a pick up not delivery but that they would make us fresh pizzas and have them delivered ASAP. 15 mins later there's a knock at our door, pizzas had arrived - cold and absolutely not freshly made.<br/><br/>In future please dont offer to make something fresh if you have no intention of doing so, it just made the experience more disappointing.

During the week Coeliac Australia announced their most recently accredited restaurant. Shop 225 in Pascoe Vale has been a favourite amongst the community and now they have recognition. Located at you guessed it Shop 225 on Melville Road in Pascoe Vale South to be specific. This accreditation is extremely exciting as the shop is a pizzeria. We all know how risky pizza can be, but with the Coeliac Society Accreditation behind them, we can eat with confidence.
Truth Hurts
It's so great to have a place like this in the area. So conveniently located by the tram stop that we stop in for dinner after work. The service is always friendly, very welcoming and most dishes are vegan or vegetarian.<br/><br/>I highly recommend trying the vegan pizzas - they are super tasty!<br/><br/>Absolute gem of a place!

Best pizza I have EVER had!! This cute little piece of Italy blew me away with their vegan options, and I cannot recommend it enough. The owner, Lorenzo is the sweetest guy ever and makes the dining experience just that much better. Service is great and the food is even better. My favourite dish here is the vegan Zio Pino. I also recommend picking up a jar of Local Craft hazelnut spread while you're there, that stuff is amazing! *Sponsored free meal

I loved the atmosphere in this small establishment but the rest in our group hated people coming in( customers, delivery drivers) very obviously staring into our plates while they waited to be attended to- and yes- we were seated near the door on reservation and it was freezing. Parma pizza was heavy on Rocket too light in prosciutto. Spaghetti alle vongole absolutely delicious as were the other pizzas and cannoli al cioccolato.<br/>Staff were very nice and helpful.<br/>The antipasto misto and tagliere ( mix of cheese and veg) were good, ample serves.<br/>Good place to try.

Small venue, tables quite close to each other. Staff were friendly & efficient. Pasta dishes & soup all needed seasoning, biggest let down was the pizza. Middle was thin & very soggy. The Nutella calzone was very thick & undercooked- inedible, it was sent back to kitchen. The chocolate cannoli & tiramisu were very good. A disappointing first experience.

A hidden gem. Great pizza and pasta! Potentially the best in the area. Particularly enjoyed the vegan cheeses used, so creamy and satisfying:) will definitely order again! Thanks guys

The vegan pasta here was boarder-line nostalgic ♥️ Service was great and the pizza was almost perfection! Sitting next to the front door on a cold night is not recommended, however this was our choice haha. Will be back!

My boyfriend and I dined at Shop 255 last night upon reviews and recommendations from others.<br/><br/>I’m a little obsessed with pizza, and I tend to prefer them thin, crispy and stretchy, with a bubbly crust that is soft on the inside and slightly charred on the outside. I also like the toppings to be focused on good-quality produce, such a buffalo mozzarella, aged prosciutto, and a rich tomato sauce.<br/><br/>My first impressions of Shop 255 was that it had a super cool outdoor seating area out the front with big heat lamps (which is perfect for freezing girlfriends!). Inside was perfect mood lighting towards the front of the restaurant. However, the tables near the kitchen were super bright. I had made a reservation 2 days prior, but we happened to get the short end of the straw and be seated right next to the kitchen (not the most optimal date experience). Although it was exciting to see the chefs in their element! <br/><br/>The service staff were very attentive, and were quick to take our drink and food orders. Receiving our food was just as quick!<br/><br/>I ordered the Bufala pizza. Visually it looked incredible. It had a beautiful bubbly and charred crust, and the toppings were perfect. Unfortunately the taste did not match the look. <br/><br/>Aside from the crust, the middle was extremely soggy. The flavours were great, but it was just a let down that the pizza was so soaked and saturated from what I’m guessing was due to condensation. My boyfriend had the same experience with his pizza.<br/><br/>We’d love to come back here again if their was a way to prevent the sogginess? I think this comes down to not having the oven hot enough (must be up to around 400/500 degrees).

I visited Shop 225 the other day for lunch before going to DFO Essendon and ordered the Bufula Pizza ( bufala mozzarella, cherry tomatoes , basil and prosciutto) and the home made fettucine with porcini.<br/><br/>I really liked the fact Shop 225 specialises in Vegan and Gluten free pizza and pasta, although I am neither I think it is extremely important in this day and age to be conscious of the many dietary requirements and to be so inclusive <br/><br/>The pizza came out piled with prosciutto which my partner enjoyed very much, although there was so much the flavours were balanced and the dough was also very nice and fluffy<br/><br/>The pasta was also a crowd pleaser, the home made fettucine although on the thicker side was cooked perfectly and soaked up the sauce nicely , I loved the porcini flavour and enjoyed the simplicity of the dish.<br/><br/>Thanks for having us!

Friendly service , legit Italian hand tossed pizza topped with high quality ingredients cooked in a wood fire oven. What more do you want? <br/>The best in the area by far. Recommend

Love the gluten free options here! Pasta and pizza are both amazing. Nutella pizza is a great simple dessert. Pizza oven is out in front of you too which is nice to see. Also friendly service.

Love it here. Been here a few times, great pizza options. Brother had the gnocchi once and it was soft af! Staff are really nice as well. Great to have an option like this in the north. Just wish the venue was bigger! Keep up the good work.

The best pizzas in this side of town. My husband and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for pizza. Maybe the prices are slightly pricey but totally worth it. My favourite is the Zio Pino, mushrooms with grana padano cheese topped with truffle oil. Sooo delicious. I’ve also tried the classic margerita but it’s not as good as the other margerita pizzas in the CBD, though still very nice. Their tiramisu is also another notable mention - it is huge, so tasty, smooth and creamy without being too creamy if that makes sense.
Kim
Delicioussss food! I will definitely be back. My friend and I loved it so much. We got the vegan zio pino pizza (replaced truffle oil with olive oil), vegan calzone and vegan tiramisu.<br/>Service was also super fast!

Humble and homely, these guys sure know how to make a pizza dough (and a few other things). Shop 225 is a must visit for any Italian food lover. Humble and unassuming, it looks like any suburban restaurant where you’d pop in if you were local, but boy!

I was invited here by a friend and being a massive pizza lover I had to say yes. A small pizzeria but very welcoming, with a few tables outside if you want to sit outdoors. We started with the antipasto platter and a garlic pizza. The antipasto platter was generous and has lots of delicious cheeses and cold meats. But the garlic pizza was absolutely amazing! A nice fluffy vase with a hit of garlic that packed a flavour punch. I could have eaten this all day!<br/>I then ordered the Zio Pino pizza with stracciatella cheese (sooooo good!!), mushrooms, grana Panana cheese and truffle oil. This pizza was a mushroom lover’s dream. Wonderfully balanced flavours and those bases!! So delicious.<br/>We ended the meal with the special vegan chocolate pizza. They make their own hazelnut spread and I tell you what, it’s tasty as. I am a Nutella lover but I didn’t miss it at all.<br/>Lovely service too.<br/>I highly recommend!<br/>Thanks for having us!

This place is legit. Authentic wood fired pizzas and great service. Ordered my pizza and it was ready in 5 minutes! 👌🏼 I got the Barone pizza - nice cheese and salami and cooked to perfection. Do yourself a favour get here it’s worth it.

Visited Shop 225 for lunch. We ordered the spaghettini alle vongole & pizza with prawns and pancetta. I am very fussy when it comes to Italian food as I lived in Italy for many years and haven't been able to find a pizzeria which offers authentic woodfire pizza flavours. Luckily I have now found Shop 225!!! The pizza was just amazing, had all the flavour I was hoping for and brought back memories from the traditional pizza I used to have in Italy. The amazing thing is that it was also gluten free. The spaghetti were perfectly cooked and tasted awesome. We also opted for their cannoli for dessert. We tasted one which had ricotta, the other was filled with chocolate crema. They were the perfect end to our meal. Barbara and the team were friendly and helpful when explaining all the dishes. Am going to return soon with all the family. Love love love this place!

Best choice of Vegan pizza so far in Melbourne. The place is extremly cozy and warm. Is definetly a "modern italian pizza shop", of course they don`t make just pizza. Highly Raccomended

Owned by Lorenzo Tron and Roberto Davoli, Shop 225 Pizzeria is an upcoming pizzeria located in the heart of Pasco Vale South. The restaurant specialises in classic pasta dishes and wood-fired pizzas that cater for everyone - whether that be vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free. Only opening in 2016, this venue has attracted many locals and people from all over Melbourne to try their incredible food.Tonight, I came here with a friend and walking in, the place was absolutely buzzing; full of people. I was able to have a look inside the kitchen and all around the restaurant and it looked great! It had a beautiful courtyard out the back great on a hot night. Inside was the open kitchen and tables outside in the front as well. We were greeted by Lorenzo, who took care of us very well. He was chatty and super friendly and really made us feel welcome.  In fact, all of the waiters and waitresses were attentive, helpful and eager to please. Such a change! We ordered on Lorenzo's advice the Bruschetta, the Vegan Gnocchi which came with homemade gnocchi, and bolognese sauce, The Zio Pino Pizza which comes with stracciatella cheese, mushroom, parsley, grana pandano and truffle oil. The Zio Pino was absolutely delicious - the cheese was nice and stringy, the mushrooms were cooked well, a perfect balance of the truffle oil and all of the flavours together worked incredibly well. The Vegan Gnocchi was definitely our favourite meal. The gnocchi was light and pillowy and tender, and they practically melted in our mouths. The bolognese was the signature of the dish - it was hot and flavoursome and just perfect. We couldn't believe that it was vegan! The bruschetta was tasty as well, perfect amount of tomato and onion and the bread was toasted well. We asked for balsamic to go over the top of the bruschetta which we preferred but it's an individual thing. For dessert, we had the Cannoli Siciliani which was infused with vegan chocolate. They were scrumptious. A generous amount of chocolate and was very crunchy on the outside. A great way to end a delicious Italian meal. The prices are very reasonable and definitely worth what you pay. The restaurant has a well-crafted website and you can easily make a booking online - I would highly recommend doing that, it gets really busy! They're also on Ubereats - I couldn't believe how many uber eats drivers were coming in and out (it felt like every 10 seconds!!).Absolutely lost for words tonight. The photos of the food say it all.

Lovely service, food came out fast and was absolutely delicious, we got the vegan zucca and vegan capricciosa, all the vegan “meat” and cheeses were brilliant. Also got a vegan eggplant parmigiana which was thrilling. Can’t wait to come back.

Really really delicious, simple yet exciting pizza ! On a nice night the restaurant was busy and humming with people enjoying their meal, waiting for their order or a table (it was surprisingly busy for a week night) <br/><br/>We sat outside and despite being near two major roads you wouldn’t know it with the way the seating has been arranged. <br/><br/>The staff were very friendly and attentive too. I noticed that one of the waitresses observed we didn’t have our pizza despite others around us who ordered after us already having been served, a went to check for us without asking. The pizzas arrived with a sorry for the wait even though we didn’t mention it or even notice it. <br/><br/>Excellent customer service combined with delicious pizza gives this place 5 stars for me. I will be back for take away and a meal in again very very soon.

This venue is perfect for all dietary requirements. Most items on their menu can be made vegan or gluten free by request. You will need to ask though otherwise you might receive a non-vegan item instead (this didn't happen to us but I have heard of it happening and it was because the VGO on the menu was mistaken as 'vegan' and not vegan option available on request). <br/><br/>I tried the vegan lasagna. You couldn't tell it was lacking meat. The lasagna was less cheesy than usual but was to be expected. It also was slightly saltier than usual. I felt the serving size was a bit small compared to other places. Despite this the over all taste was nice. I definitely think vegetarian lasagnas (with actual vegetables inside the lasagna) are better and more filling but it's still good if you are looking for a meat free traditional lasagna option. <br/><br/>My friend ordered the vegan parma. She enjoyed it, however also stated it was too salty. My other friend who ordered a vegan pizza also said hers was too salty but our other friend who got the non-vegan pizza said it was perfect. Both friends who had the pizzas loved the base. One friend claimed the gluten free base was better than non-gluten free bases she had tried in the past.<br/><br/>Shop 225 also has vegan chili oil and vegan Parmesan! The vegan Parmesan tasted very nice! <br/><br/>We also tried the vegan tiramisu. My friend had ate there before and tried the non-vegan tiramisu previously and said she had preferred the non-vegan tiramisu. I liked the vegan tiramisu because I couldn't taste the coffee - I normally don't order tiramisus because I don't like coffee but was willing to try this one and was very surprised! Unlike the parma and the lasagna, the serving size of the tiramisu was huge! Luckily we shared. One serving is enough for two people.<br/><br/>The manager was also very talkative and nice. He made sure our dietary requirements were catered for. We also liked sitting in front of the shop outside. It had a nice atmosphere. <br/><br/>I definitely want to return to try some of their other pasta dishes!

Best pizza I've had in Melbourne. Authentic, thin and great flavour. They can accomodate to any nutritional requirements and the owners are friendly and passionate about what they do. Real Italians making real pizza.

One of the best pizzas we’ve had since Italy! We have driven past this place plenty of times and always thought about trying it, I am so glad we finally did. Can’t wait to go back.

Have just been to this venue with hubby and a friend and yes we know our pizzas!!<br/>This didn’t disappoint. I had the zio Pino and it was just the right balance of cheese and truffle oil yum! Perfect pizza base with tasty fresh toppings all round and all for a couple of dollars less than some of the more well known inner city pizzerias.<br/>Had the canoli to finish off and couldn’t fault them crispy canoli case with fresh ricotta filling, highly recommend. Service was very good, looking forward to making this a regular stop. Loved it

This place is fantastic, a small place in Pascoe Vale that serves one of the best pizzas in Melbourne. <br/><br/>We had the Bufala, Zio Pino and a special which had prawns, chilli with basil and cheese and Rigatoni Alla Bolognese.<br/><br/>The pasta was well balanced and the tomato sauce was well balanced that I enjoyed the minced meat within it.<br/><br/>Best of all, the pizza dough was really well made and was soft like fresh bread as well as the delicious toppings. I highly recommend the Bufala with the prosciutto as it had the richness of the meat and complimented the rest of pizza.<br/><br/>Would definitely come again some time to try out more of their pizzas!

Shop 225 Pizzeria is a local Italian favourite owned by Lorenzo Tron and Roberto Davoli, who’ve given us our own slice of Italy in Pascoe Vale South. Shop 225 has an authentic Italian vibe with a twist – the food is classic Italian fare, but nearly their entire menu can adjusted to catered for diners who want vegan and gluten free options.

Without a doubt the best vegan pizza in Melbourne and it's so good to have a great restaurant where I can bring my vegan and non vegan friends to eat too. The vegan Barone, Melo and Capricciosa are all so delicious.
Lxnaz
Bravo to Lorenzo and his team for bringing a true Italian pizzeria experience to the Northern Suburbs. <br/><br/>In this unassuming space you can forget the <br/>'Ciao belli' crowd and Aperol Spritz air kissers, and rest assured you will be having one of , if not the best pizza in Melbourne.<br/><br/>The measure of a true Italian pizzeria is the base and dough and the Shop 225 Crew cannot be faulted on this.<br/>My wife is a celiac and after having her pizza , hand stretched gluten free , she had to ask three times " Are you sure this is Gluten Free?" It was that good. <br/><br/>With the GF options extending now to Vegan also and featuring their artisan Vegan Choc hazelnut spread is all the more reason to check out Shop 225 if you already haven't. <br/><br/>Hopefully they can buy the space next door soon and double their space 😜<br/>Until then keep up the good work ragazzi

Went to Shop 225 for dinner as a group of 11 for the first time. We sat in the courtyard which was very cute and ordered pizzas and pastas. I really liked that the food came out all at the same time - this was very much appreciated considering the fact that we were such a large group. Gnocchi was delicious (made in house) and the wood-fire pizza is to die for with a beautiful light and crunchy crust. Also ended our meals with some desserts and coffee which were also fantastic. Especially the Tiramisu. Wish I had taken some photos to add to this review, but I would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.

This is the second time we’ve had a meal from shop 225. First time we ate in and loved it (quite some time ago), so we decided to get take away. We ordered a pizza, pasta and salad, and I was given a time to pick it up. I arrived only 2 minutes late and after it took them quite some time to grab my order I took it on a short journey home. Unfortunately the pizza was cold and the mozzarella had gone completely hard, therefore we had to put it back in the oven. Luckily the pasta was still hot, but a very small portion size (it didn’t fill up the small container) and so was the salad. I think the salad had been sitting on our pasta for a while as it was warm and wilted. The (small) pasta was delicious but unfortunately it didn’t make up for the cold and doughy pizza, and the wilted salad. We would probably return to eat in and try them again, but never again for takeaway.

Shop 225 may be the new kid on the block but these guys have already quickly established themselves as maestros of the Melbourne pizza scene. If you are looking for quality pizzas of the gourmet kind, this pizzeria should be at the top of your list. The menu is grounded in strong Italian heritage whilst introducing some innovative vegan and gluten free options which are concocted without a single sacrifice to flavour.

Good service here however the bases were slightly burnt & the seating was cramped. On the plus side though we were served very quickly & the vegan cheeses & salami was good! It’s great to see a lot of vegan pizza options! I would recommend shop 225 to those who usually/previously liked a lot of cheese & meat on their pizzas but not for those who prefer more veggies & other healthier toppings as they aren’t particularly light or fresh
Cookielessvee
One of the best authentic pizza joints. Crust is crispy and soft inside. The base is thin, not soggy and holds the toppings well. Pizzas are flavoursome, aromatic and amazing. <br/>
MissM
Great local vibe, friendly but not fussy, which suited us perfectly. Delicious pizza - flavoursome light bases and tasty sauce (the basis of all good pizza!) Enjoyed the optional wholemeal base on my pizza too.. worth trying! Love that we could invite gluten intolerant and vegan friends without any issues - a rare find.

Hands down these guys even topped my favourite “Gradi” at Eastland. 🍕<br/><br/>Booked a table of 12 for my 21st as I frequently enjoy their food on UberEATS and finally wanted to investigate where it all came from.<br/>The staff are sincerely lovely people, they always went out of their way for us and handled my crazy family so well. <br/><br/>The shop is quite cosy. Our meals came out very quickly. Very tasty stuff, great pizza bases, I wish I had room for seconds! The wine was fantastic. The Vegan options keep the girlfriend happy and even impressed even the biggest meat eaters in the family. There’s nothing on the menu I wouldn’t recommend.<br/><br/>I downloaded the app just to leave this review Please support this great business! 😄

Pizzas, who doesn’t love them? Now, what about wood-fired pizza? Yep, I’m salivating too! Well you  lucky north-siders, there’s a pizzeria called Shop 225 which is located on the main street of Melville Road (park on the side peeps!) which not only serves up wood-fired pizza but they’re also VEGAN and VEGETARIAN friendly!! It’s a cosy little joint so first in first served bros.

Went to Shop 225 Pizzeria on a Sunday evening and sat in the courtyard area, cosy little space suited our group well. Our group ordered pizzas and pasta. Both were fantastic. I can say hands down best pizza in Melbourne, similar style to Gradi but so much better. The dough and sauce were amazing. The pasta was equally as good and they even created a kids menu by halving the potion size and price for anything on the menu. <br/>We will definitely be back!
Kemran Mestan
I went there specifically because they claim they specialise in vegan pizza; I picked pizza with a big green V next to it, which indicated vegan. But none of our pizzas were vegan. If they advertise themselves as a vegan then the wait staff should ask how we want the pizza.
Tereza Candioto
Delicious vegan food, friendly service and reasonable pricing. It's a good idea to reserve a table as the place is quite cosy. My favourite is the vegan lasagna, but the pesto gnocchi is just as tasty.
Mary
Easily the best pizza in Melbourne!! The pizza base is perfectly light enough so you don’t feel guilty the next morning. Their cannoli was so tasty and the perfect way to finish off the meal. Super friendly service and just an overall excellent experience.

Service: great, prompt service, happy to answer questions <br/>Vegan pizza: amazing! Had the zio pino. Soy based cheese but it seriously did taste like the real thing! Mushrooms and truffle oil were delicious. Base was traditional Neapolitan style (like doc), super thin and lovely fluffy crust!<br/><br/>Buffalo and prosciutto: were good but not as good as doc.<br/><br/>Lots of options (pizza, mains, salad and desserts) for vegans!<br/><br/>Update: visited again today. Gamberi (prawn) was yummy. Tiramisu was lovely.
Lscig1980
Yummo! Kid friendly pizza joint, super authentic pizzas made with warm smiles & delicious quality ingredients! One pizza perfect for a family of four-Will be back for more (and to try the tiramisu)! <br/>

I can only speak for the vegan pizzas. They taste great but the presentation can a bit messy sometimes, like the pizza was made in a hurry and toppings not evenly distributed. There is often a lot of vegan cheese which has for me can be too much but I know that's not really a negative for some! While I loved the original owners and their beautifully presented pizze, I really appreciate the new owners introducing vegan pastas, gnocchi and more dessert options. The vegan tiramisu confuses me as sometimes it seems the recipe is totally different, sometimes great and sometimes not. So whenever I order the vegan tiramisu I never know what I'm going to get. Still, I'm happy to even get vegan tiramisu and cannoli! Friendly staff.
