Ordered charsu tonkotsu ramen, it was really good! The taste is unique amongst ramen in Melbourne CBD. You also got two nori, ajitsuke tamago (ramen egg) and some menma. Too bad I didn’t order their gyoza. Oh, staff are friendly and nice as well!
this place is hidden gem 🧢 I am a regular customer and I come here with my family a lott and we all love the ramen, teriyaki chicken, Gyoza, drinks and beans and the tonkatsu soup base especially. the service is extremely friendly and never fails to put a smile on my face, I am satisfied in and out and this is honestly the best ramen in Melbourne ( I’ve tried the recommended ramen in Melbourne and they don’t even come near this place) I Highly recommend this place and make sure you visit cos u won’t regret it 😌✨
Great little ramen shop. Had the charsu miso for $13.9 and it was delicious. They also do free noodle refill! Service was attentive and the atmosphere was lively for a thursday evening.
Ordered the chashu tonkotsu and the chashu shoyu ramen. Both tasted great, includes seasoned egg and fungus without charging as an add on like some other places. Price is already reasonable but even more affordable with the free noodle refills. Come when you're hungry! Service was super friendly and quick. Would definitely come back again.
This is a really nice place for a quick ramen fix while you're out and about in the CBD. I dropped by for a charsu ramen which was very satisfying. The roast pork was tender with just the right amount of fat. The seasoned egg was perfectly cooked with a soft yolk. Spring onions, mushroom and bamboo shoots rounded out the package. The broth was rich and warm. Service was pleasant enough.
Amazing ramen and even better service! I ordered the watermelon beer and Tonkotsu ramen. Broth wasn't too thick and noodles tasted fresh! The staff was super duper friendly!
Came with 4 people and everything was really nice! We came down from Sydney and it's one of the best Australian ramen places I've been to. Very friendly staff (great customer service) and very satisfied.
The staff is very nice and the food is even better. I asked them to make my vegan dry ramen extra spicy and I couldn’t have been more satisfied. I also ordered Sake (the Japanese Wine), that I tried for the very first time and fell in love with the taste. The quantity is good and the price is reasonable. I’m definitely revisiting!
The boys and I went here for some good ol’ fashion traditional Japanese ramen. I had the spicy seafood ramen and am pleased to say that it was quite the sugoi. I just wish there were more clams because it felt like there wasn’t that many. Overall had a fun time and will definitely dozo again. Arigato gosaiimasu for this fanstastic meal.
Chasu Ramen + Spicy Tonkotsu Broth
The spiciness is a little too much for me as I don't eat too spicy food. However, overall is good! The bamboo shoots weren't too salty and hard, taste and texture were just right. Noodle is slightly stiff but in a acceptable range for ramen. Chasu ramen came with two pork chasu which is more than enough for an extra bowl of noodles. The extra noodles are free as long you do not waste the extra noodles. Price is acceptable since it is not more than 15AUD. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.
5 stars. Best ramen I have ever had, hands down. In Melbourne and Tokyo. Charshu ramen with tonkotsu broth is my go to. Spicy tonkotsu is also great. Both come with half an egg, black earwood mushrooms (black fungus), bamboo shoots, leek, spring onions and nori. We will rarely eat ramen at another place for fear that we will be disappointed. The staff are so lovely too. Definitely worth the wait if there is a queue.
Ordered chasu tonkotsu ramen and beef shoyu ramen. Both were delicious but my preference is tonkotsu broth. They give free extra ramen too! What a service!

My favourite ramen restaurant in Melbourne. Staff are super friendly and each bowl of ramen is delicious! Having free top ups of noodles is fantastic, especially when I'm feeling extra hungry. Have been going here for a number of years and the quality has not changed since.
i ordered the black ramen and it was amazing. the meat was so delicious so as the well cooked egg. 100/100. the staffs were so polite and friendly. those people are all Japanese and i was welcomed with their lovely greetings.
Located in a little alley in Chinatown mr ramen san attracts quite a few customers.. there is always a queue if you come here during lunch and dinner.. the place gives you the vibe like you are back in japan as it is tiny and wait staff will great you as you walk in.. the ramen itself was amazing, it was chewy and the broth was very light, although it lacked in a bit of taste, it was advertised as no-msg and possibly the reason why.. you also get a free filling of garlic and sesame.. and also free additional noodles if you wanted to once you have finished your ramen and have leftover broth..
The flavours we tried was the teriyaki chashu ramen with Shoyu broth and the chashu ramen with black tonkotsu broth.. the Shoyu ramen was a bit bland but tasted better after adding some soy.. the black tonkotsu was packed full of flavour.. a great little dining spot..
Mr Ramen San is located in Midcity Arcade. It’s quite a popular ramen joint. We came before it closed so we didn’t have to line up but everyone I do walk pass that place, there’s always a line.
I ordered their original ramen and the food came out really fast. The tonkutsu broth was nice and creamy. I really enjoyed the char siu as well. I liked the fact that they didn’t make us pay extra if we wanted seaweed like some other places do. The portion size is perfect and the noodles were cooked really well.
Overall, I would def come back! A great cheap eats.

Mr Ramen-san is now my favourite ramen place in Melbourne CBD! Affordable, quick and great during Melbourne’s winter coming up. With authentic Japanese managing the restaurant, making their noodles daily in a cosy spot near Chinatown definitely gives you the feel as though you are in Japan!. They do thick broths made from pork bones and collagen over high heat for many hours, in which it brings out the pork flavour and a creamy consistency. Although the broth is not as thick as other places I’ve tried, but it’s perfect for those who are not familiar with thick broth ramen.

🍴Yummy affordable ramen in a tiny cosy shop that is pretty popular. Expect a queue or go early (before 6.15pm on weekends) if you don’t want to wait. The tonkotsu broth is flavourful and one can tell that lots of pork bones and collagen went into it. It was thick and smooth without being overly rich, making it very nice to drink and I wish there was more of the broth. The pork meat was well-marinated and tender. Also loved the springy texture of the freshly house-made noodles. For people with bigger appetites, you’d also love that there are unlimited FREE noodle refills.

This definitely hits the ramen cravings I’ve had for awhile. It’s a small little cozy nook serving authentic and delicious ramen. The broth is a medium consistency and packs a lot of flavour with restraint. Apparently they have free noodle top ups - I missed this at the time. There are good vegan and vegetarian options as well.
Both the ramen taste good! Staff are friendly, the environment is totally feel like when I was travelling in Japan. The price is quite reasonable and worth it, there is no charge when you add extra noodle! I will come back next time!

Authentic and nice service, had to wait a bit but it was fast. Had the basic chashu tonkatsu ramen. Broth, egg and noodles were delicious but in wish the servings were a little bigger. I suppose that's where you should order an appetizer. Overall it was a reasonably priced meal.
Very small but cosy place. Ordered the charsu tonkatsu Ramen. It was tasty, noodles could have been a little firmer but the broth was just nice in terms of richness. Bonus that you can ask for extra noodles for free. Customer service was good too, they greet you nicely when you walk in like many Japanese run restaurants.

Service is friendly and welcoming. Tonkotsu broth is delicious and the gyozas are a must try. The gyozas are so good I came by to just get a plate after already eating lunch somewhere nearby!
Had the tsukemen and it was super delicious. Noodles had a great chewy texture. And the green tea you pour into the broth at the end really made it a special and unique meal. Had the tonkotsu previously and the broth and pork was delicious. Service was friendly and waitress served with a smile.
Was recommended this place by a friend, and made it there at 9PM on Sunday evening, 30 minutes before closing time.
As with my first visit to any ramen joint, I ordered the tonkotsu pork ramen, and was not disappointed. The broth was as porky as possible without being intoxicatingly overwhelming. ChaShu was a bit tough/rough, but if you imagined this as a rustic dish, that was not a problem.
However, I had food envy when I sampled the wife's spicy chicken ramen. Decently spiced, tasty, it's one of the better chicken ramens I've been fortunate to come across. Long story short, I know what I'll be ordering next return.

The noodles are great. The soup is rich maybe a bit too rich. The teriyaki charsu pork is my favourite topping. Free extra noodles is so good. The vegetarian options also taste really good.
Ate here today for lunch just to try it out after a friend had raved on about it. I had the teriyaki chashui ramen and my lunch date had the hot pot. My ramen was quite nice, the soup base was quite tasty and the ramen wasn’t bad. I also had an extra half serving of ramen (complimentary) as I was starving. My lunch date had the hot pot which was pretty average I think. For what you get and what you paid for I would rather get a ramen. Would I be back? Yes I would be for the ramen but probably not the hot pot. My lunch date mentioned that there wasn’t as much variety as he had expected. Fair enough...
Very flavourful and filling. Free refill of noodles if you're feeling hungry and the staff there are absolutely wonderful. One of my favourite ramen places in Melbourne! Loses one star as sometimes it is almost a bit too strong on the flavour side where I wish it be toned down a little bit but nothing a bit of warm water cant fix.

This is one of the best ramen shops! Superb tonkotsu (pork bone) soup base, perfect soft boiled egg and juicy pork gyoza! I asked for firmer noodles so that it wouldnt get soggy at the end.
Authentic Japanese TONKATSU ramen. It’s located inside the indoor lane of ChinaTown(Mis City) . Soup was mild but I’m not the fan of noodle ( a little bit over cooked ) Good for lunch express
Along with Hakata Gensuke, this is my favourite ramen in Melbourne so far. There was a 15 minute wait on a weekday evening as it is a small place and it gets busy. I like the decor inside with the casual, cosy and homely feel. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. They had a lot of staff for such a small place. Tried the tonkatsu and spicy tonkatsu broth. I thought the latter was tastier. Love the fact that there is no MSG. I have no complaints. The chashu was tender and not fatty, the toppings were good as was my perfectly boiled egg. Prices are reasonable and you even get free extra noodles!
Very authentic, felt like I was back in Japan. Serving size was perfect, gyoza was one of the best I have tasted and service was great. Thank you.

We were somehow craving for a nice bowl of ramen last night and thought why not try of a ramen shop we had not tried before. Looking through a couple of ramen shops in Melbourne on our Zomato app, then we decided to give Mr. Ramen San a try. We were there around 7PM and a line was already in front of the shop. We waited for about 15 mins and had a table by the window. Ordered 1 chasu ramen with spicy tonkutsu soup base and my wife ordered another chasu ramen only with spicy miso soup. Both ramen were nice but the one with spicy tonkutsu soup was slightly better. The spicy miso was not as spicy as I thought (even though we had to pay an extra $1 to make it spicy) and the nutty taste in the miso was quite strong. The spicy tonkutsu soup was also not spicy but it taste light and not oily. The chasu cuts were generous and not fatty. The egg was still runny in the middle which added some creaminess to the soup. The portion was great for the price. Even greater, they provided free noodle top ups for those who wants more or not full enough. The shop was rather small in size so big parties might have difficulties to dine in this place. However, the staff was very friendly and the service was rather quick. Overall, it was a great ramen experience 🙂.
I have been here several times, and each time the service and food has been excellent. It is currently my favorite ramen restaurant in the whole of Melbourne. I especially love the Spicy tonkotsu soup base.
This is by far my favourite ramen place in the world. Even better than what I had in Japan. The smooth balanced broth was delicious. I’m really speechless at how good this bowl of ramen was. There was a lightness in the thick broth that really made it stand out. The noodles were also cooked to perfection with just the right amount of chewiness.

You get to pick the ramen you want, as well as the soup base.
With the tsukemen (dipping noodle) you can have it like a soup at the end where you add tea into the dipping sauce.

I’ve been looking for different ramen places to check out and a friend had suggested Mr Ramen San in Little Bourke Street so I ventured in and it’s a very small and cosy place so be prepared to wait outside. Pro tip, you need everyone in your party present before you can even get a table and boys and girls, it does get buy around dinner time. Anywho, walking in, the staff were super duper friendly and we got right into ordering our meals.
I come here very often. It’s like a go to with my friends. The interior is soooo cute with all the studio thinking stuff. The ramen is really good I usually get the spicy miso chasyu ramen. The dumplings are also sooo goood.
I have been here several times and each time the staff members have been extremely friendly and food is always served within 10-15 minutes. The charsu ramen with tonkatsu soup base is my favourite.
There may be a slight wait during peak hours but definitely worth it!! :)
Great food! The broth of the ramen was creamy and delicious and the gyoza was juicy and well paired with the vinegar based dipping sauce. I will be coming again
I am so happy I have found this hidden busy ramen gem inside China town. Serving was a bit smaller than what I expected but I was not disappointed by the quality. My favourite was Teriyaki Chashu ramen. That chashu is superb.
Super flavourful tonkotsu broth here, but the bowl is a lot smaller than other places offering ramen for a similar price.

Friday night had me craving for some ramen. After a google search I made my way down to Mr Ramen San and am I glad I did!
I would never had found this place if it wasn't for google, I can see why the great review score and also the wait to be seated. I had to wait approx 10 mins or so which was fine by me. The restaurant is small and intimate, staff great. My waitress helped me choose the broth and she was lovely.
My Tonkotsu spicy beef was excellent, the flavours were so good and ingredients of good quality. I washed this down with the sapporo on tap, I really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back.
This hidden gem, tucked away in mid city arcade is well worth the wait. Quality ramen broth, springy noodles and just has its own unique taste. Also serve a variation of entree, tried the mushroom salad which was delicious! Try the Japanese beer, goes so well with the ramen. Overall a thumbs up and one of the best ramen in town.
This little place tucked away in Chinatown closes early by my standards (9pm) so I've always missed out on trying it until recently. I was dying to come in and sample their vegetarian Ramen complete with slices of mock pork! The serving was pretty generous and definitely left me full. Pork was a bit soft but pretty good. The broth, on the other hand, left a bit to be desired. The creaminess was super nice but it wasn't very flavourfull until a bolstered it up with chilli and what I believe was garlic miso paste. Either way, it's exciting to know there's a vego/vegan friendly Ramen joint in the city. If this place was open later, I'm sure it would be a huge hit.
Got the Tonkatsu Charsu Ramen. I have to say that it is one of the best ramens in Melbourne. Such good flavours. A close 2nd to Hakata Gensuke

Really remarkable rich ramen. Mr. Ramen San.... Can't really find any negatives with this restaurant. This restaurant has always been a little gathering spot for my friends as the ramen is just astounding and everything about the place makes us feel like we are in Japan.
Food: Well priced. Rich, soothing and irresistible broth that has NO MSG!! Meats and vegetables are of great quality and are as fresh as can be! Now let me tell you about one of the best things this place has to offer. The noodles are addictive. I am warning you! And you know what? THEY GIVE FREE EXTRA NOODLES UPON REQUEST. Is this too good to be true? (Just like some ramen restaurants in Japan by the way.)
Customer Service: Yes this restaurant really makes you feel as if you are in Japan. Waiters and staff greet and thank you in Japanese which just makes you smile and want to submerge yourself into the culture even more. Food doesn't take long and all staff are lovely.
Atmosphere: I'm afraid I have to say it again. This place emits strong vibes of being in Japan. Tables are small (just like in the small restaurants of Japan) and decorations of anime are really cool! Overall, it's really heart-warming and really compliments the food!
Has to be one of my favourite Ramen restaurants in Victoria. Don't be fooled by all those fake, unauthentic "ramen" and "Japanese" restaurants scattered everywhere. You can rest assured that Mr Ramen San will give you the most authentic, immaculate, divine Ramen and experience!
Took a while to seat us, but that's just because this place is so popular. The staff were very smiley and friendly. I love that you can choose the broth and topping combination. The ramen was absolutely delicious, toppings cooked to perfection and the broth was yummy and thick! I'm no expert on Ramen but it tasted great!
One of the better ramen places in Melbourne, with no MSG in their soup 😍😍. The spicy tonkotsu soup base is delicious, the spicy was not over whelming. The noodles were great, and free extra noodles as well if you’re still hungry. The pork gyoza was nice however it was only slightly soggy the last time I had it.
Surprised by how much I enjoyed this place. Definitely does remind me of Japan with the decor and service but even the quality of their noodles and soup choices give me that impression. One of the top choices for ramen.
Hands down the best vegan ramen I’ve ever experienced. The tonkotsu broth is amazing but the vegan broth was wonderfully rich and decadent despite the lack of meat. My go to ramen pick in the future.
Ramen here is my benchmark by which i judge all other ramen by because this is the BEST ramen in melbourne! Their ramen broth is cooked overnight, which is why it is so flavorsome. The noodles can be topped up free of charge! So you leave absolutly satisfied! The only downside is...it can get packed so you have to wait inline for a table. But considering food and service is top knotch, im willing to wait. P
Had the original tonkotsu chashu ramen. It was pretty good but the broth wasn’t as strong as the other ramen offering in Melbourne. Would say that their noodles are pretty decent, and it comes with additional toppings which is a plus point.

One of the best ramen shops in Melbourne. We wouldn’t mind waiting every time. The mushroom entree is beautiful. We have tried 3 different types of ramen so far and everything was just yummy and delicious. Love this place. Staff is always nice and friendly too.

Chances of getting a seat immediately are higher for solo and couple diners at this quaint yokocho like establishment. Cleanly furnished with Japanese mahogany timber and iconic anime posters proudly displayed on walls. Head Chef Roystan's poster was truly inspiring and made us feel valued. They do not take their customers for granted and work very hard to serve the best possible Kyushu style ramen. Staying true to the Fukuoka concept, free ramen noodles refills or 'kae-dama' (double) are available, but these are not meant for sharing. That's a real treat considering their noodles are handmade in house daily.
Ordered the not so spicy chicken ramen, classic Charsu ramen both in the delicious porky goodness tonkatsu broth. Pork gyoza was deliciously fried, simple and well made. The ramen on the other hand was extraordinary. I am usually not a soup person but I drank every last drop of this delicious white cloudy broth, the result of boiling pork bones and collagen for over 10 hours with workers stirring it for 4-5 hours non stop. The only downside for me was chicken karaage wasn't available! Cards are accepted as well which is always handy and there's a cute Totoro collection at the cashier. Definitely one of the best value dining experience in Melbourne.

Ordered the charsu ramen with tonkatsu broth, and gyoza to share. The ramen comes with quite a good portion of pork and the standard ramen ingredients (egg, bamboo, seaweed). The broth had a rich and deep flavour and the noodles were a good texture (not too soft, not too chewy). The pork was tasty with a subtle smoky flavour (not sure if I imagined that last bit?). The gyoza was nice, they're sweeter than other gyozas I've tried.
In terms of ambience, it's quite a small shop with not much space and it can get quite noisy so I had to raise my voice a bit. There was a queue to get seated (we went on a Thursday night) but it moved quite quickly. Service was good.
Great servings of ramen in such a beautiful intimate place. The staff were beyond friendly and the food we ordered was flavorsome and delicious. Definitely worth a look if you find yourself near Chinatown.

I wanted to rate this place 3.5, but Zomato has changed and it won't allow me to. It's better than your average ramen, but it was not as good as some of the other offerings that I've had in Melboure recently. One thing I will say is that their noodles are really good, they're actually some of the better ones in the CBD. You get free extra noodles, so that's a massive plus! Mr. Ramen San is great value, I would go back. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. I've been looking for the best Tonkatsu in Melbourne, so I order the same dish from every restaurant to keep it fair.

Had the charsu ramen and spicy chicken ramen. Hooley dooley, the soup was so flavourful and perfect! It reminded me of Japan. The portion size was on the smaller side - however, they offer free extra noodles!! Exactly like Japan! We also ordered a hot pot because we love all things hot pot/shabu shabu style and my goodness the broth was so crisp and beautiful. I was already full from the ramen but I made sure I had the rest of the hot pot because it was that good! They also served mango cocktail draft beer which was amazing also!
