Review Ta-ta House - Melbourne

Jasmine Gurung
I love this place. Me and my partner go there regularly because of the dumplings and being super affordable. I mainly go there for the supreme rice vermicelli noodles as it reminds me of a local restaurant in Hong Kong. The place is never too crowded and the aesthetics is a bonus

Went here for lunch, there was a deal for $20, a rice dish (3 to choose from) plus 1 spring roll and chicken soup. The rice dish size was small for the price. I found it overpriced. Presentation was nice. We were given this iPad to place our order but could not find the specials that were on the pamphlet. The call waiter button didn't seem to work either on the IPad. The restaurant was relatively empty, compared to plenty of other restaurants that were on Russell St. There's a $20 minimum on card, plus a surcharge on top, and no split bills.

7/10 enjoyable dumplings and Chinese staples, check out that oily noodles, beautiful. Booths, reasonable price and service.

I am eager to dumplings, so I decided to visit again. We ordered dumplings, chili sauce, Shanghai noodles, shark fin soup, vegetarian spring rolls and fried wonton. Shanghai's noodles are delicious, and the various ingredients are different from some joints. They throw a few slices of cabbage and seemingly sad pork slices. I like soup, although it is better to use more seasonings. Overall, this is a good meal, I recommend Shanghai noodles and chilli.

This is a great little place. The price was outstanding, the service from Ong and Tray was fantastic and the food was really, really good. As a Vegan the options were great. I would definitely recommend Ta-Ta House.

All the menus were very good except the fried pork buns, they were too burns at the bottom. The staff was kind.

A simple small Asian restaurant with good food great dumplings are a must eat and everything is very well priced. Only negative was on the last visit the 2 young people running it seemed disinterested and blunt, maybe because it was at 12.30am Sunday morning. Boiled pork dumplings where one of the best I've had.

I had a quick lunch after business meetings in the city. I ordered a meal and after trying a small piece, I was not happy with the dish and was ready to walk out and pay, leaving the dish pretty much untouched. The service lady asked me to stay while she calls her manager, Trey. Upon inquiring about my dish the manager suggested I can reorder another dish instead. No extra charge. They were attentive and keen to give me a nice dining experience. Wow!!! I'm impressed with the service. I wish more restaurants care about their customers more like they do here. Food was good, except for that dish I ordered. I believe it was miscommunication between myself and the waitress when I asked her information about the first dish. She didn't speak English very well. But that's ok. It happens. Ambience is nice and prices are midrange. Not sure if they have lunch specials. Definitely recommended.šŸ‘šŸ‘Œ

Ordered beef dumplings which arrived burned, asked for new ones that weren't burned, and after waiting 20+ minutes for them, we decided to leave. Before leaving they offered us THE SAME DUMPLINGS to take home. They weren't apologetic and didn't seem to want to rectify the situation. It's also worth noting that other customers around us were discussing their displeasure with the food as well.

The fried rice was burnt, food was very expensive compared to the quality
This restaurant failed to honour Zomato Gold. They did not provide the requested dishes. They have abysmal service. Their food tastes disgusting and is not authentic.
Darren Pook
The restaurant reject zomato gold. It's a scam to sign up. Everyone please be mindful. Zomato gold connects you with restaurant but the restaurant may not even honour you with the buy 1 get 1 free deal

Awesome authentic Chinese food. Big servings. Satisfied everytime we have been here. Their salt and pepper ribs is among the best in Melbourne. Go there people!!

Ta-Ta House is a casual Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu. We went there for a light dinner and ordered roast duck and fried tofu and accompanied the dishes with rice. The roast duck was a good serving size and the skin was crispy. The tofu soft and silky on the inside of the fried outer layer. We enjoyed both dishes.

The restaurant was busy and I noticed that most of the other tables had servings of dumplings of different varieties so I assume that must be their speciality. As I had eaten dumplings recently I didn't order them on this occasion however I think it maybe worth going back another time to try them. They looked good.

Iā€™ve been to Tata house a few times for a late night feed but the last time was years ago. I was craving dumplings so decided to revisit. We ordered xiao long bao, wontons in chilli sauce, Shanghai noodles, shark fin soup, vegetarian spring rolls, and fried wontons. The Shanghai noodles were delicious and had a good variety of ingredients unlike some joints that throw in a few pieces of cabbage and sad looking slices of pork. The xiao long bao looked really big but there wasnā€™t much filling inside. The texture was good but lacked flavour and wasnā€™t piping hot. The wontons werenā€™t very hot either but I love the chilli oil. Itā€™s on the spicy side but bearable. The fried wontons were a bit soggy and the ends looked over cooked. I liked the soup although it wouldā€™ve been better with a bit more seasoning. Overall a decent meal, Iā€™d recommend the Shanghai noodles and chilli wontons.

Ordered pork dumplings here. It just wasnā€™t really delicious because it was chewy and soggy (too much water). The mince meat filling itself was not too shabby - delicious vegetable added to give it extra flavour. If they can sort out the skin, thereā€™s potential for this place to be a dumpling favourite for Asian food lovers.

Ordered the combination fried noodle and the noodle was half crispy, piled with tender meat and vegetables and drenched in gravy sauce.

I like the noodles more soft so it soaks in the gravy flavor. It was as expected and good.

Great restaurant and owner Sisi will make you feel like a King. Their dishes are fresh and tasteful but not too saltish. Crab dishes in XO sauce are to die for with noodles juicy and delicious. Pricing is great and they are able to customise to your taste and needs. Definitely worth trying out, and you will not regret and likely become one of their regulars.

Delicious food! Great for catching up over a meal. Always quick service. Can be quite loud at times but thatā€™s to be expected from a busy restaurant!

A nice hi tech vegetarian friendly dumpling Chinese restaurant. Order your food from iPad (good for ppl who don't want to talk to others). You can see chef cooking from the street outside. Food was as per taste not to spicy and not to bland. Overall a go to place for Chinese dumpling. Only thing was pancake onion spring was too oily. Else good food.
The Darth Zader
When we walked in I thought we had walked into a disaster as there was a giant bowl of vegetarian dumpling insides sitting on the entrance front door chair seats.....not very hygienic. However that being said their veggie dumplings ended up being reaaaaally good.

The booths remind me of Hongkong eateries. Itā€™s warm atmosphere. This place offers an electronic menu which is easy to use and order. The dumplings and crispy duck are really good
Linda
I always love it here! So consistent and good flavour. The chilli chicken is a stand out. Their dumplings are always good, the chilli wontons are delicious. The sauce is great. Iā€™ve tried a lot of their other dishes like the noodles and stir fries and itā€™s always good. Tasty and satisfying. MSG warning though. (Worth the crash afterwards)
Daniel
Food was very nice and the ordering system was efficient and requires the minimum of human contact. Perfect for the misanthrope who still wants to go out for dinner.

Recommend to try out their clay pot dishes super fresh and super tasty. Now one of favourite chinese restaurant in cbd. Highly recommended and would go back again next week
Laura
Good food and polite service. However minimum $20 charge on card plus 1.5% surcharge. Quite unreasonable when you consider the competition of the area. Sorry, won't be back, fix your policy.

This place is hit and miss. I've been here before and had a good decent meal. However, my last visit was very unpleasant. The wait staff were kind but the whole meal experience was rushed. There was no consideration of what was an entree, main or side dish and all were delivered as they were cooked, hence a disjointed meal. The dumplings were ok - skins a bit thick for my liking. The pan fried dumplings were super thick skinned with minimal filling. We also ordered the Sichuan beef - gross! The beef had been cooked several times and was hard and chewy - it actually tasted like it had taco seasoning - not recommended. The fried rice was ok, but it was delivered with the entree, 20 min before the beef dish! One good thing about the restaurant is the cheap beer !
The last slap in the face was the additional surcharge for paying with a regular bank cardĀ - yes, I know this is their way of getting a tip, but it's wrong!
I DO NOT recommend this restaurant after this experience, and I will not return in a hurry.

Got the vegetarian dumplings, XLB and Sichuan fried rice.

The veg dumplings had a bitter sort of after taste. I think it's from the shiitake mushroom...? not so sure about it. maybe it's me cos other reviewers love the veg dumplings. hahaha

XLB is good, but I prefer juicy bao's. The sichuan fried rice is yum! Not spicy at all (tho it indicated 3 chillies in the menu) and tastes flavourful. šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹

Love the food here. Nice and warm welcoming place. Good size portion. Would like to recommand to anyone whoā€™d like to enjoy yummy chinese meal.

If you want a quick and cheap meal in the city this is the place for you.. tuck away even though on main russel st. Little chinese restaurant. Nothing too fancy. Was quiet when we got there about 1. Mostly asian crowd. They have an ipad to order with pictures which always help haha. Lunch rice dishes averages $10-14. My sweet and sour rice dish came out within 5min of ordering. Good amount of food. Perhaps too little for a bigger person. Tasty wih good amount of veggie. Rice was a bit dey. My friends fish dish was tasty. He had heaps of fish on his rice dish. Perhaps larger serving size also?

Called into Ta Ta House for dumplings after our comedy show as we had some time to kill before our Pre booked dinner elsewhere and were quite starving. Ta Ta has good quick dumpling and other dishes but the venue itself is a little uninspired as is typical of so many of these Chinatown restaurants.

Dumplings are on point! sadly the restaurant lacks atmosphere, no music or ambiance, we came in a large group and sat upstairs. Good if your just after a quiet casual cheap dinner in the city with BYO and not keen to get amongst the bustling streets of China town

Had a delicious dinner here the other night. The place was almost empty which wasn't a good sign, but I couldn't fault my meal. I also liked that they had a completely electronic menu, who needs waiters? What an age we live in.
Mustard
A pretty gloomy looking restaurant, they have iPads for menus which was to our detriment as we were mostly ordering individual dishes. Whoever ordered first would receive their meals first and by the time my dishes came out everyone was finishing. My peking dumplings were actually sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served so they didn't taste as great however they were still plump and juicy. My XLB weren't too shabby, skin wasn't as thin as some places but the broth was decent.

Plenty of other places with better service, ditch those iPads and light up the place to make it more inviting and lively.

Was looking for some good Chinese food around the corner and found this place. I managed to have their special fried rice along with some veg dumplings. The portions were quite generous and the food lived up to the expectations. A good place to have some good authentic Chinese cuisine. The dumplings šŸ„Ÿ weā€™re teaming hot which was really really good ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

First impression of the restaurant wasnā€™t the best after I walked in the restaurant and it was dark & the decor was out of date. When the food arrived, I was so impressed. The boiled vegetarian dumplings were amazing, one of the best Iā€™ve had. The dumpling skin was thin & beautifully made. The spicy salt & pepper Japanese tofu was fantastic, the silken tofu inside was fresh & delicious with crispy layer. Highly recommend these two dishes.

A casual dining restaurant that serves Chinese food. Service is very friendly. A menu is presented but to order is an online system. The ambiance is average but the seating is worn out. Xiao long bao is flavoursome but the skin is too thick.

Food: Prawn dumplings are large but the skin is too starchy and thick. Beef dumplings has a nice skin but but tye meat inself is too tough and dry.

We came here for a late dinner. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The service was quick from the time we ordered. The Shanghai shao-lan bao, won ton in spicy sauce, Shanghai fried noodle and stir fried flat rice noodle with seafood and egg gravy sauce were all delicious and tasty. Would come back again.
Milktealayer
Really like their fish soup, it was really silky and well cooked. The san Choi bao is highly recommended, must go n try there, never regret. Will go there n have a try again
Lucas
Cannot go wrong with this place. Order your Peronis or any other drinks via the iPad with minimal wait time and good quality dumplings also. Service always great. Only downside are the visa and MasterCard ā€œsurchargesā€ customers are being forced to pay on top of the food. No other restaurants charge this, and banks donā€™t charge these fees on individual transactions.
Foodie Panda
first and last time i will ever come here, due to the staff hurrying us to finish up our food within 30 minutes and also spilling chilli oil on my important documents without apologising for it!

thought this place would be a promising place for a nice meal, as it's located near chinatown and they offer various choices for dumplings on their menu.

my sister and i had steamed vegetable dumplings and spicy fish with rice. the spicy fish with rice dish came within two minutes and the fish tasted pretty salty. when the waitress spilled chilli oil on my belongings while serving the dish, she did not notice what had happened and just placed the dish on the table before walking away.

overall, a very unpleasant dining experience here. the restaurant was not well-lit and had some strange smell wafting from the back of the restaurant. wouldn't be back and there are probably much better restaurants nearby.
CultureClash
oh god...
Torn seats, dark atmosphere & empty for a reason.
You canā€™t really go wrong with dumplings but these taste less har gows were not off to a great start. Chunks of ā€œBeef steakā€ were pasty and not even remotely close to steak but the veggies were fresh.
xiaolongbao was nothing special, u can get way better ones in Tim Ho Won.
Stir fried noodles contained old and dry sausages which I disliked the most.
BUT the waiter was polite so plus the fresh vegetables, a 2.0 score is all i can afford.

Good alternative if you cant get into Hu Tong. Ipad ordering means food and drinks come out quickly. Dumplings are delicious. Interior needs a make over. Staff are ok.
Jeremy Day
Staff were average at best and the dim sum was OK...but not what I would call up to standard. The venue dealt very tired and in need of a make over. The 2 ladies making the fresh dim sum in the window was what drew us in...that what the best part sadly

After stumbling across this resturant with a friend for a dinner night we haveĀ realized we stumbled across a gem! small and decorated with the oriental chinese decorations, friendly waitresses and great pricing for food theres nothing that isnt to like. ordered xiao long bao, the vermicelli rice noodle set and pan fried pecking dumplings. decent price !!! as it didnt cost an arm to eat here and the ordering system is efficient as well!

If you havent tried this place do try ! its a great place and value for money with their little meals sets! Wide range to choose from and will keep you coming back for more !
Goblin Girl
Ordered their xiao long bao, pan fried pork buns and a pork spare rib vermicelli set to share. The xiao long bao and pan fried pork buns were served nicely in wooden pans and came out hot, juicy and delicious. The pork spare rib vermicelli set had a good amount of meat and the broth was rich and flavourful.

Service was very friendly and food was served promptly. Would definitely go back!

Came here because it was one of the few places still open at 9pm on a Tuesday, and they had people making dumplings in the front window to lure you in. Xiao Long Bao were excellent, thin skin, quite large and meaty and very delicious. Fish dumplings also very good - light and pillowy. Beef dumplings not bad. Great value, would return especially if i needed a large night feed!
Dimzib
The dumplings at this place are highly underrated! After being rejected from many dumpling restaurants within this shop's vicinity, I had decided to give it a try it regardless of its lack of customers. The vegetarian dumplings are a must-have. All other dumplings are good but do not stand out; they are still an acceptable substitute for waiting in line to get into other dumplings restaurants with long queues or cramped spaces.Ā The staff are decent and are efficient but are not necessarily friendly.

Dropped in during the week for lunch with a mate, the iPad ordering system is pretty cool, very easy to use.. drinks literally come out in seconds, food took a little while but it was worth the wait. Had satay beef and i believe it was a peanut chicken in chilli sauce, so yum! Dumplings were also delicious! Will be back
Petal Loves Food
The spinach pan fried dumpling is outstanding! I used to have that stone pot soup with thick vermicelli noodles, luncheon meat, beef slices, fish and vegetables quite frequently. It's very reasonably priced, and super large portion- enough for 2! Thanks for the comforting meals..
Margaret Peto
Firstly I waited over 20 mins for a takeaway beef chow mien, then to add further insult - the wrong frign noodles! (This is Even after pointing to which noodles I wanted).. sigh...
Jen B
Crappy iPad ordering system, lukewarm average dumplings, expensive reheated Chinese donut and took so long to bring out the pan fried buns that we had to wait around get them take away as we needed to go. No indication at all that they would take longer and no apology or offer to take the price off our order. Soy milk was nice but that's the only thing they didn't make!

Go to Shanghai Dragon Dumpling House a few doors down, waaay better dumplings, fast service and cheaper too.
Lellett
The best dumplings I've had in Melbourne. Absolutely perfect - strong and flexible enough that they stay together but not chewy or difficult to eat. Just heaven!

Ate here late at night when stuck trying to find places with kitchens still open. Yikes. The venue reeked of sewerage! This made me feel uncomfortable about the quality of the food, which was slow in arriving (after ordering from an iPad) and luke warm when eaten. Food was serviceable and I didn't get sick, but I won't be back.
Themkc
Ordered the soy sauce egg noodles and the spring onion pancake. The good: the egg noodles were well seasoned and tasted as they should (though a bit more wok hei smokiness needed). The bad: the spring onion pancake was barely cooked, if uncooked in the centre. There was zero flakiness (as a spring onion pancake should have) and the thing was just soggy and doughy.

iPad ordering is strange but the service is otherwise nice. I might come back and give it another shot though...

Definitely one of my favourite dumpling restaurants in the city. Ta-Ta House is non-fussy, cheap, with fast service, and great food. The iPad ordering system makes the whole process very easy and enjoyable - and even easier to order a lot of food without judgement! I've only since tried the dumplings and the honey chicken, but have loved my experience every time I've gone. The staff are friendly and attentive, and I've never had an issue coming here. Will definitely return (soon!).
Peter Larter
The food is delicious and ordering by iPad is fun. The spicy wonton is an excellent dish. Hot and sour soup also a winner here. Mostly Szechuan food so a bit of spice.

Really happy with this place.. Underestimated it actually. Stumbled across this place.. Decided to sit inside and treat myself to their pan fried beef, soup dumplings & boiled chicken & prawn. Could not fault and enjoyed every mouthful! Was able to take left overs home! Perfect! šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

Found this open late night after a show. We order by iPad which was great and food taste is good too. We order salt fish fried rice and vegetable stir fry.

Came here last night for a group dinner with just 2 of us in a group of 10 being vegan.. so I was nervous about what their menu options would be like and how accommodating they'd be!
At first communication was slightly difficult but they were happy to grab someone who knew more information about the veg options and assist in us ordering vegan dishes. Also the ordering system was very effective, using tablets to quickly and easily place orders which everyone in the group seemed to enjoy. The tablet ordering system also showed the various options for each dish (eg steamed/fried, egg noodles/rice noodles).
I shared some delicious veggie dumplings and a rice noodle dish that was very generously sized!

I would recommend Ta Ta house and I'll probably be back for those dumplings!
Elonie
This place uses iPad to order, but it's not stuck to the table, so it's shared between tables in a way. We had prawn dumplings and pan fried pork buns. They are quite yummy. Unfortunately I found a piece of hair stuck to the meat in one of the pan fried pork buns. I think we'll still return though.
Bunjibing
Remember when this part of Russell St was all dodgy games arcades and shady dealings?

It seems to be the place to go for dumplings now.

At random, we chose this place and the dumplings we ordered were delicious. Really liked the chicken and prawn dumplings and the chilli oil won tons.

(The waitress gave us an ipad which we used to order. Then she took the ipad away. When we wanted to order more dishes, the waitress said she could take our orders herself. Despite the slightly strange ordering system, all orders came out quickly.)

And booths. They must be a pain to keep clean but they are very underrated in restaurants. Love them.
James
Pros: Delicious DELICIOUS dumplings, unique ordering system
Cons: None so far.

Well I was going to go to a different dumpling restaurant until I stumbled upon this little gem. The order system is unique and works really well I have to say. They give you a tablet, you select your food and then hand the tablet back and the food arrives, and quickly as well- maybe 8 mins after my order... It's not the personal kind of service you would generally get anywhere else, but I really like the experience.Ā

The dumplings.. The first dish I had was Sichuan-Style Wontons in Hot and Sour Vinegar and Chili Oil. Ā The vinegar was a little overpowering to what I've had in the past, but overall the wontons were beautiful, the skin was thin and it didn't take me long to devour the dish. The next one I had was the pan-fried dumplings, they were crispy, had thin skin and the meat inside was flavoured very well.

The decor is really well laid out for a small space. I really like what they have going on here. Ā Overall an excellent option for delicious dumplings in Melbs CBD, I'm super impressed.

Went here last night. This restaurant is easy to miss on the street being hidden away in a whole line of other restaurants but its worth singling out. The prices were reasonable, serves were large, excellent presentation, and all the food was really good. I will definitely be returning.
Amelia
Popped in as usual Juicy Bao was packed. Pleasantly surprised. Prawn dumplings a hit, kids loved beef fried rice. iPad ordering was a novelty. Staff friendly and welcoming. Quieter environment for conversation . Will be back

Loved their idea of self-ordering on the iPad, it was convenient to order with the pictures and prices all in there. The dumplings were great but the pork wontons was a disappointment.

A very comfortable ambience, friendly waitresses and good food.
Piggyeatalot
The iPad ordering thing was a bit weird, it's not a built in system and the waitress still have to come so why not just take the order?

I ordered the Chinese leek and pork noodles and for $10.8 it hits the spot. Nothing mind blowing as such but it's a decent portion and the taste isn't half bad. The dish overall was quite oily.

The chilli sauce wasn't that spicy which was a bit disappointing :(
The Pierced Palate
Came here after a few too many drinks on a Friday night so this review might be questionable? The dumplings were amazing! We got all the dumplings on the menu except for the vegetarian & fish dumplings. The beef dumplings were not all that great but portion sizes of the dumplings & rice servings were well enough for us. For $160 including alcohol beverages & for 7 people with good portion sizes, this place is definitely one of Melbourne's cheap eats!
Perth Boy
Reasonable price, good ordering system . order schicuan fisch is good, fried rice ans sisling beef is on the salty side. dumpling is freshlu made but dont like the pork bun since it's bit meaty snells

Overal good.

Returning customer since our last visit to Melb in April. Great food and a clean, comfortable interior. Uses an iPad for ordering to simplify many things. Food is at generous serve size too! Definitely coming back again if we go Melb again in the future!
Kiss And Eat Up
Have been here on 2 occasions and both meal experiences were missing the great Asian flavours that you would expect from the dishes on offer. The peanut noodles as a starter were served with a basic peanut sauce , cucumber and dreary bran sprouts which were unnecessary and added no texture or flavour to the dish. The pork dumplings were also disappointing lacking any rich flavours of pork despite the promising dumpling making in the front window. The iPad menus were great allowing fast and efficient service . Would not be rushing back given the plethora of Asian fare along the same street .
Kevin Kwok
Great for honest, hearty chinese food. I love the vegetarian dumplings here. One of the best I've had. They are perfectly uniform, delicate, have good consistency, are handmade and have a good amount of chive filling. Rice noodles I had were also good. Service is quick, relaxed but genuine. Not trendy or fancy but good, quick no fuss and good value.
Bon Bon
If you have not tried the boiled meat dumplings here,I must say give it a go. Personally I think the dumpling in Tata house is way better than Juicy Bao. They are juicy and nicely seasoned. With the rice noodle ē±³ēŗæ, I ordered the dry version with the saucy minced pork. I do think the texture of the noodle is comparable to Colourful Yunnan, however the way of cooking is different. You can get more non spicy choices of the rice noodle here. I like the one that I ordered and it is really refreshing as it served with the cucumber . The environment is also very cosy and you won't be pressured to finish your food and get out quickly . Will definitely be back.

Comfortable (and decently clean) Chinese restaurant featuring simple Chinese food. We enjoyed the xiao long bao but the pan fried buns were a miss. Much more quality, variety and authenticity than the quick takeaway type of Chinese restaurants... Great for a quick and decent Chinese meal.
Tardar Sauce
Love Ta Ta House. Delicious, fresh food - my favourite is the combination noodles. Prices are what I would expect to pay as the venue is slightly more up market than some of the other Chinatown eateries. Order via the iPad & food is delivered to your table less than 10mins. At the moment there's a promo - spend over $50 & get a $10 voucher for your next visit. Great little restaurant. I recommend!
Melbourne Epicurean Juror
Had a light lunch today at Ta-Ta House for the 1st time & was pleasantly surprised at the truly great friendly service not to mention the reasonably priced beautiful tasty meal (combination fried rice & steamed Shanghai pork dumplings all for $24.60) served steaming hot - more than enough for lunch. I also loved the wall sized Chinese classical painting opposite my seat, really eye catching. The restaurant had a really great ambiance with traditional Chinese background music, very soothing - a real contrast to Melbourne's CBD outside. I will definitely be returning soon

Phill Jury (food critic & writer)

Love this place. I eat here every time I come to Melbourne

Great authentic food

A novelty. I haven't been to any other restaurants that use an iPad ordering system but novelty factor aside - I think it works well. The ordering system allows you to order items as you want them without having to wait for staff to walk by. The minute you sit down you can order a drink, and then put in another order once you decide what food you want. The calamari is divine, I think it was salt and chilli, definitely recommend. The pork dumplings are very good but come out hot, not boiling... I love boiling hot dumplings, the anticipation as you wait for them to cool down makes them taste better and I guess it also makes them taste fresher, instead of being brought hot dumplings that cool down and become limp very quickly.

Meh.... Good bbq pork buns - that was it.
Deepfried seafood combo was gross - but i still ate it.
Sizzling King prawn with veggies was still raw and had to be sent back to be properly cooked.
bok choy wasnt washed - still had dirt in between the leaves - didnt eat that.
Service was good coz there was only 1 other table with us.
HATE the ipad ordering system!
HATE having to ask for glasses wih my drinks!
Never again. Can get cheaper and better with so many options close by.

Solid effort. Sunday lunch, quick and friendly service, excellent Xiao Long Bao and fried dumplings, crispy quail was delicious, and loved the bean dish.
James Khalifa
Terrible service for expensive Chinese food. No thanks
Cameron
Expensive. Not a "$" cheap eat at all. Food and service are ok but For that money you can get a really nice meal elsewhere. Especially in that area. Therefore I can't recommend it.

Quality dumplings but one dish was a bit cold

Sweet and sour soup is delicious :) xiao long bao is nice too. Good service very underrated place but worth a visit :)

Great service, hot food.. Went in after work at 12:30am (Friday night/Saturday morning) and the staff were friendly, polite and attentive without being invasive. My friend dropped his chopstick and the waiter was at our table with a new pair before we could even pick it up.

We ordered xiao long bao, har gao, boiled peking pork dumplings and wontons in soup. Everything came out hot (the way it should be) and none of them were broken (hate it when dumplings lose their natural juices).

Would be happy to return and try the other things on the menu.
Louie Bao
A new jewel in Chinatown. Although small, it can easily seat 6. Tried their famous "cross bridge rice noodle" along with xiao long bao, fried dumplings, chicken ribs on rice, hot & spicy soup. I have to say anyone of the dishes above can earn the restaurant a spot in my list of favourite lunch places. Especially the Yunnan style rice noodle, this is by far the best I've had so far. Really impressed.
