Trendy interior with heaps of neon lights but that's pretty much it. I got Curry Rice with Chicken Schnitzel which was okay - nothing special. I got a chance to try my friends' Korean Fried Chicken and Pork Belly Dosirak but they were also mediocre. A good place to come for a date but not for quality food

After uni, I headed here for a delicious Korean bowl of rice. Bibimbap is done best at Oppa Kitchen. They specialise in Korean rice dishes with a variety of sides to share. I recommend their Spicy Pork and Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap - definitely my favourite. The rice is fluffy, and the proportion of rice to portion of meat and five-coloured healthy ingredients is perfect. I loved how cute the presentation, with the even layout of the ingredients - a traditional 'spiritual harmony' displayed.
Each of the vegetables were seasoned well with a nice hint of salt and sesame oil, that went well with the flavourful meat, the star of the bibimbap.
Other dishes we ordered were the Beef Bulgogi Dosirak and the Grilled Beef Steak Meal Bucket. I loved the addition of the crispy potato croquette on most rice dishes, which was so fluffy in the inside and crispy on the outside. The Dosirak, was mostly made of rice and very little beef compared to the bibimbap. The Grilled Beef Steak in the Meal Bucket was a bit tough, which wasn't very enjoyable to eat. On that note, the salad was a bit too sour for my liking.
I've had other dishes from my past experiences. The best thing from this restaurant would have to be the bibimbap. Their curry dishes are very delightful to eat and rich in curry flavour and aroma, does not taste like high quality as it may taste a little grainy. Their fried chicken and fried rice cakes can be a little bit on the dry side, and the marinade can be a bit salty from the gochujang. Other than that, everything is worth trying, and is an affordable meal that can be enjoyed on a lunch break or a catch up with friends.
I should’ve ordered the bibimbap in the stone bowl, anyways i thought the place was okay but husband enjoyed it thoroughly.
Oppa kitchen is a causal restaurant in the heart of Melbournes CBD offering inexpensive korean food.
While the portions look small; the food itself is rather wholesome. My personal favourite dishes are the meat buckets and the boneless korean fried chicken. Order both and you won’t leave hungry!
This spot is perfect for a cheap and quick lunch or dinner.
I ordered a Grilled Beef Steak Bucket, and oh boy, it was good! I love how the charcoal taste lingered in the meat enhancing the flavor. Also, it was well cooked. The meat was not dry and tough. The meal was also comprised of leafy greens, half of a potato croquette, a slice of cucumber and an orange, and with the rice splashed with a bit of the beef sauce.
It looks like a simple meal, but once tasted, gets better and better.
Downside is the size. If you are a big eater, this may not be enough. However, I am happy with the portion as it filled my belly just right.
Post lockdown, Oppa Kitchen was doing well. Physical (Social) Distancing was observed and sanitizers were available.
Will surely come back for more!
I went here with my friend, the food was nice. I enjoyed the meat. It tasted like it wasn’t frozen.
I have only been here twice, the first time was really good. I had Dosirak and the fried teokpokki. The fried teokpokki is just amazing. Great sauce, not to much, not to little and the texture is crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The Dosirak is my boyfriend and my favourite. Meat cooked perfectly, got the smokiness from the grill, along with delicious sauce and refreshing citrus salad. I also had the budda jjigae, which was my first time trying the dish, it was really yummy and tasty soup.
We were serve by a helpful and friendly young lady, which she was so happy to help each of our requests. The place is really clean, neat and tidy.
The only thing is they don't really serve many condiments like traditionally Korean would do, there is a free kimchi available if you request but not sure of the other condiments.
Definitely will come back for more!
Oppa Kitchen is synonymous with Delicious Korean Goodness.
I had the Spicy Pork Bulgogi Dosirak. The bulgogi was yummy. A perfect amount of spice and sweetness. Great quantity. 5/5
Also tried bongbong which is a pulpy green grape juice. It's so refreshing.
I love the taste of the food. Very warm and cozy environment.
One of my favourite place to eat out in cbd with reasonable price.

Clean and cosy. Quick service. Didn’t need to queue up even on a Friday night.
Ordered large fried chicken wings and spicy chicken noodle. Both the dishes lacked flavour. Small portion size as well.
Came on a Saturday at lunch time, they have upstairs so it has plenty of seating.
All my friend ordered the spicy chicken set apparently its really good and they all keep coming back having the same thing. I had the pork Bibimbap with hot stone because I want a bit of different vegetables. It was really nice! Price is reasonable as well! Service was friendly. Surcharge on card payment and no split bill.
Hello!
My review is going to be short because I have tried only one item from Oppa and that too was a take-away.
My husband and I love to try different cuisines around the place and we found this one while we were headed to The New Taipei restaurant (just beside it).
We checked the menu and ordered for a Grilled Pork Belly Meal Bucket, reached home after half an hour. The food had to be re-heated because it was a little cold by then.
This was one of the best meal buckets we've ever had. Not sure if there are more out there that we need to try, but so far we loved this one. Giving 4 stars, for now, will update it after checking out a few more items.
Bon Appetite!
Not bad, the size of the food is relatively small, especially for the soup. The taste is good. Would like to try some other stuff next time.

Been to Oppa many times since they first opened. My favourite menu is the spicy pork bulgogi which served in set together with salad, potato and orange. I also tried their bibimbap (without the stone bowl that usually keeps the dish hot) and im not a fan. It might taste better with the stone bowl.
Oppa is one my favourite korean restaurants in the city for a simple yummy korean lunch 😋 the service is always pretty polite and the food is consistently good. We had the pork belly meal bucket and pork gukbap 🤤🤤
Tried this restaurant cause a friend recommended it and I just can’t get enough of it! Love the interior. Love the Chicken. Love the Beer. Service staff are quick and friendly. Great job guys!

Food: 9/10 (Original Flavour Korean Fried Chicken, Tofu & Mushroom Udon)

This is my fifth visit to Oppa Kitchen and they’re always so consistent with the quality of their food!
This time we ordered a large original flavoured boneless KFC, crispy and fragrant as usual, no complaints.
My dad, being an udon enthusiast, really liked the soft texture of the udon 🍜 a lot of udon noodles have a kind of ‘plasticky’ and strong ‘synthetic’ taste, which makes them unpleasant to slurp on. But this one doesn’t have that taste at all and my dad is happy about that 😊 soy sauce/dashi broth was light and not too salty, which was great too. Generous sizes of tofu and mushrooms, so that’s really nice as well.

Beef Bulgogi Bucket ($12.80) was presented nicely in a wooden bowl. It comes with rice, salad, potato cake and orange - all in a bowl. Beware as their Toppoki, spicy rice cake, was extremely spicy 🥵
Service 4/5
Helpful waiters and they can accommodate quite a lot of customers as their store is double storey.

I’ve been here at least 5 times and they’ve positively improved in both service and food quality! The most recent time I went (late June 2019) the service was great, food came out fast and was delicious! Generous portions at appropriate prices. Would highly recommend the curry or the soup for those wanting a hearty, warm meal. The meal buckets are delicious with generous servings of meat and veg. LOVED the soy garlic chicken. “Pork cutlet” dish is separate from everything else on the menu, was good, but sauce may not be liked by all, it was slightly sour.
I’ve been getting back into Korean dramas lately and if you’ve ever watched one, you’ll understand how delicious they make Korean food look. Needless to say I was craving some bibimbap. My boyfriend had never tried it before and I was explaining to him the delight of the crispy and crunchy rice that gets stuck to the hot stone bowl. The bibimbap place I usually go to has closed so I ended up choosing OPPA. The venue has fun casual vibes with neon signs and a double story shop with plenty of seating. It looked quite full but we were able to get a table straight away. We ordered the spicy pork and beef bulgogi bibimbap and garlic soy fried chicken. The chicken comes in a serve enough to feed one if you just want a portion for yourself (unlike the massive servings at some places). the sauce was really nice and not overpowering in garlic and the chicken was crispy. The bibimbap was also delicious and came with zucchini, carrot, bean sprouts, egg and meat. The only thing I can fault is I found the meat portion abit small and would’ve enjoyed more meat with it however it is in even ratio to the vegetables. The service is exceptional and very attentive and accommodating for a fast paced restaurant. Great spot for a cheap meal and catch up with friends. Will definitely return!
This the place getting me obsessed with Korean kitchen! Everything that I’ve tried is sooo delicious and also the prices are affordable. I come here at least once a week. Try C4, you can thank me later ;)
Favourite place to enjoy boneless Korean fried chicken in smaller portion, a great choice for one person. The soy garlic boneless fried chicken has enough sauce on it, the potato wedges and the fried rice cakes are a delicious mix under the soy garlic sauce. Served with salad and radish pickles.
The first place I think of when craving for good cheap Korean eats. My favourite so far is the pork belly meal bucket- lots of flavour in the pork, quality of the rice is great and the croquette is basically the cherry on top!
Korean fried chicken is definitely the dish considered to be ordered, highly recommend!
Soup dishes, pork gukbap and kimchi jjigae can be a bit bland, especially when eaten with the fried chicken but enjoyable during winter.
Interior is also very cute and bright, with friendly staff!
My go to place in the city for cheap korean dinner. I love their korean fried chicken! The best. They have also really good grilled pork bucket.
Have been here a few times and I’ve always orders C4 grilled beef bucket. The meat is so tender grilled over charcoal. We’ve tried the fried chicken as well it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Definitely will come back.
Korean cuisine # located swanston street , customer service not bad, polite waitress. The food no bad , and tasty. Lastly the price is reasonable. Thumbs up .
Oppa is one of my favourite places in the CBD for Korean food! It’s very easy to get to from both Flinders St Station and Melbourne Central Station.
The first ever time I went there was on the first date with my Boyfriend of now almost 2 years, and we’ve been going together ever since then!
The menu is diverse and there’s a lot of options including main meals and entrees. I recommend going with someone else and both sharing an entree as well as getting your own mains. It’s usually about $40-$50 for two people.
The most famous entree is the Korean fried chicken which has the most amazing kind of batter.
The mains are varied in terms of content but it’s usually a nice balance of meat, salad, and rice.
The atmosphere is quite comfortable and clean, but occasionally the music can be a tad bit loud for easy conversation.
If the floor looks packed like it often does during dinner, never fear because there is another dining area upstairs!
I would recommend Oppa as a great place to go with small group of friends.... or a first date!
Love this place. Food is quick and delicious. Staff is very attentive and gets things going quick. Been to this place several times and not once have had to wait for more than 2 mins even at peak times.
Good value for money. Great for a single person to eat alone as well as for groups and couples. Great stuff!
I went there with my friends to have lunch.we ordered soups , noodles. and Korean Fried Chicken. It was good, the chicken wasn't dried and meaty.i choose sweet and spicy sauce it's really nice. Is a small but airy restaurant.Very good service and quick delivery.
Service, value and cleanliness are all pretty good. Food is okay.
The Japanese curry serving was fairly big and I like that you get a croquet with it. However, I have had better Japanese curry in Melbourne.
Fried chicken was good the first time, not so much the second. Definitely recommend one of the flavoured ones because the original lacks flavour.
Do No Order Pork Soup!

A nice place for lunch, less than $15 and taste amazing. The sauce is the best partner for rice and the pork taste tender and delicious. Service is good and modern, happy with that sit in here and enjoys the lunch.
Great food and service.
Ordered the spicy pork bulogi meal bucket and asked for the spicy sauce only on half BBQ pork.
Dish was visually appealing but smaller than expected. Some more rice would have been nice as there was plenty of meat. The spicy sauce looked red and intimidating but was actually quite light and added some favour to the slightly plain but nicely cooked bbq pork.
Service was excellent with attentive servers everywhere. The shop was small and cosy with almost every table full.
Overall, would come again.
Nice Korean restaurant with a convenient central location and broad menu. The order sheet makes ordering efficient and quick.
Our food did not all arrive at the same time, so unfortunately some members of our party had already finished by the time the other food arrived. When the food arrived it was a little lukewarm which was a shame.
Delicious Korean cuisine in a modern, airy restaurant. I keep coming back for the soups and noodles. Yum! Quick friendly service too. Keep up the good work!
In The Legend of Zelda, the Triforce represents the essence of the golden goddesses who created the realm of Hyrule. It consists of three parts; Power, Wisdom and Courage. But much like our stomachs, there is a gaping hole in the middle.
Luckily we have Oppa Kitchen in the CBD, which provides us the power of Flavour.
The food here is consistently fantastic, especially their Korean fried chicken. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is served quickly, and the prices are very reasonable for the serving sizes.
Highly highly HIGHLY reccomend.
Amazing place to eat
Very reasonable price and suitable for students
Delicious meal, although their fried chicken is not as good as expected
Free kimchi
Love this place! Always a go to after a long day at uni 😍 Service is always amazing staff are super nice and friendly. Food is yummy enough to fill my belly and the kpop songs always brighten my mood! I just wish they could get rid of the card surcharge... but overall i love this place
Went there a couple of times now and each time I’ve gotten great food and it was pretty fast service! Enjoyed the selection of foods they have and is great when I’m craving for Korean cuisine

Boneless fried chicken and tteokbokki are very good but I don't like kimchi soup. Reasonable price, nice ambient and friendly staff. I will be back again :)
Great place, the extra cheese on the tteokbokki was basically dried on top of the tteokbokki and you'll probably have to ask for kimchi more than once cause they might forget you asked, besides that, pretty good place 👍
Very cute place with many different options. I wasn’t a huge fan of the salad with the sweet and spicy sauce but regardless it was quite delicious. 🥗 🥗
Would very much recommend this place to friends and family !!
Really like the look of this place. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had the beef bibimbap, flavours were good although the egg was premade and cold and there wasn't much meat in my bowl. Overall still a decent meal
Mildly affordable, servings of chicken are quite filling and delicious. Only thing is they don’t do split bills but otherwise, would recommend.
Second time here. The food isnt perfect BUT the service was good.
The fried chicken isnt as crispy, meat was a little dry. The flavours were partially there too. Overall, I give the food a 3/5 And the service a 4/5, attentive to our needs. The deco is very modern with a hint of korean designs here and there.
C: Oppa! Always one of my faves. Been here plenty of times with Liv. We love Korean food and Oppa provides a very authentic experience. Even for me who can’t take much spice, their tteokbokki is well flavoured and delicious. The chicken is crispy and crunchy with juicy pieces on the inside. The bimbimbap is also very good but just disappointed that the egg wasn’t completely poached. Overall, would definitely recommend
L: We went here the first time because I was craving korean food, especially tteokbokki. Since then tteokbokki was always ordered, its so good!! The chicken is also delish, both the original and sweet chilli flavours. Mix it with the tteokbokki sauce if you want that extra kick. The atmosphere was great and the setting was light and pastel, really creating a good vibe to be in with friends. Would recommend coming here when you want to fix your korean food cravings.
I went here several times because I really love this Korean restaurant! The service and the price are very good! but thr Grilled Beef Steak Bucket is sooo good! the beef is cook to the perfection and the flavour are so yummy!! I will go again and again for this dish
Located in the midst of the CBD, Oppa Kitchen is a cute and cozy place to relax and enjoy delicious Korean food. With a modern, bright aesthetic and extremely affordable food, this restaurant attracts many students (and in general a younger demographic), and for good reason too. I highly recommend this place's boneless KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) in both the original flavour and the soy garlic sauce, as well as its chicken katsu rice and beef bulgogi noodle soup. The staff here are also incredibly helpful and give the place a fun, lively and authentic Korean vibe. Nothing to criticise here, will definitely be back!
Literally everyone I go here with loves it! The food is great and service is always very fast and good. The music is 👌👌👌Always good vibes 🤗
Nice restaurant, good take care and friendly staffs. Even many customers but food still quickly. I’m having Chicken Bibimbap on hot pot - so so good Yum! Thank you :)
Oppa Kitchen offered tasty Korean/Asian fusion cuisine at great cheap prices (my favourite was the spicy juicy grilled pork belly). Their meal selections were crowd-pleasing; there were quite a lot to choose from. Their interiors were rather modern, and their ambience comfortable. It was great for a casual dinner.
Amazing food as always!!! Service could be improved but nonetheless, enjoyed my meal and time !!! The curry was very nice as was the udon!!!
Came around the lunch time rush, was not let down for the wait. Had a nice meal with a couple of friends and the service was fine.
Been here server all times after that, definitely recommend the chicken 😊
I’ve ordered takeaway from Oppa a couple of times now and it’s just great, fun Korean food. The “dosirak” (meal buckets) are a perfectly complete meal of rice, a very flavoursome Korean protein, and a fresh salad. I also order some KFC (that’s Korean fried chicken) which comes with my favourite snack, fried rice sticks. Oppa is a great place to get a well-priced, quick and satisfying feed.
If you like Korean food, just go and have a try. Ordered spicy grilled meat. It tasted delicious and well grilled. But it could be better if it has more rice. Hahahaha. Anyway it’s a good choice to try
really nice place, i usually only order the chicken when i go there and have not yet tried any of the other dishes but with the 3 boneless chicken flavours, its been great c:
afforable and you get the quality you pay for so i dont really have any complaint about that
The place gave off a very modern style and my friends and I enjoyed it. The problem is that it was pretty hot on the day we went to Oppa Kitchen and the place itself seems like it doesn't have any air conditioner where we sat. So
I ordered the curry, it was pretty amazing while my friends ordered the udon. We also ordered the ddeokbokki but it was a bit too sweet for my palette. Also we ordered some drinks on the side.
Absolutely delicious Korean food, the deukbokki was soft yet slightly chewy, and the chicken was crispy yet tender inside. I've been here twice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience both times. Lovely service too. Food took a while to come but it was worth it.
