CRAZY DELICIOUS PHO. The best pho I have had in Melbourne. The broth is perfectly beefy, the beef is perfectly beefy, and the noodles are perfectly chewy-yet-soft... and beefy. I love this bowl so much.
Pho with everything: 10/10
My score 3.5 stars (avge of 2 visits). Marks off because some dishes too sweet, plus fresh herbs/peanuts/chilli/shallots seem in short supply (some of our fav Viet flavours/garnishes). J and I had lunch here on Wed 30th Oct. Pleasant and helpful timely service. Free tea. Roomy and airy interior.
J got a Papaya salad with fried tofu ($16) - A generous serve. Plenty of tofu, but a little bit chewy. Topping of peanuts and fried shallots was miniscule. No herbs (mint would have been great). Papaya crunchy and delicious. Dressing of lime and fish sauce a bit sweet. 6 large non-oily prawn crackers were crunchy and nice.
I had Salt and pepper chicken ribs on tomato rice ($11.50) - 5 generous nicely spiced ribs, quite dark/well done, but moist inside (messy to eat though). Nice accompanying pickled carrot/cucumber; plus veggie spice mix (chilli, onion, etc) but not enough of any of it! Tomato rice interesting. Good value, but I’m glad I could have some of J’s salad.
Lunch NYE 2018. Place was clean and quite nice inside. Service was swift, staff lovely. Free tea.
We shared: Prawn spring rolls > Quite good - generous lettuce cups!
Stir fried tofu and veg chilli lemongrass noodles > Noodles a bit chewy, but nice tofu and PLENTY of veg for the non-carnivores - sauce a bit sweet unfortunately and not spicy enough.
Vermicelli salad w fried tofu > Nice amount of crisp tofu, wider vermicelli than normal, really good spicy fish sauce dressing. Downside was too much lettuce and not enough other veg/peanuts, plus NO herbs!
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant of all times. Not exaggerating, every single dish is absolutely delicious! Including the special homemade chilli, I’m obsessed over it, been buying their jars to bring home. Love how every meal goes with pandan tea. Staffs are courteous, service is fast, restaurant is clean, and music is relaxing. Can’t ask for more, deserves a 5 star!
Service was quick, flavours were really good as well, i just wish they added more crispy noodles in my dish. I ordered the crispy noodles with seafood stirfry, they were very generous with the seafood, prawns tasted fresh and lots of veggies, but just not enough noodles.

Now I came here over 3 months ago so hopefully, this is still valid. Dropped in with a friend for a late summer meal. We didn't want much but the menu was mouthwatering. I had the pho broth that was delicately spicy and not too hot for me. Perfect. My friend had salty fish and chicken. Couldn't use the EFTPOS when we split the bill as it was under $20 each, so had to go and get cash. Not sure if that's a regular thing or not. The atmosphere inside is simple but inviting. Staff are great. Love that there are plenty of photos of each meal - helps us who think we are offay with Asian food but really aren't. Wheelchairs can get in with a small step into the cafe. Kid friendly. Parking? Oh dear, it's Flemington so take your time to find one and read the signs as they can be tricky.
The foods good. It tasted really nice. Everything was very well balanced and to the right proportion. The only problem was the service. It wasn’t necessarily slow, it was a bit unfriendly and unwelcoming from one particular staff member. I ended up getting my own tea. We didn’t get the fresh chilli we ordered and had to re-ask for the spring rolls.
Been to pho house a few times now - nice Vietnamese place service up your usuals.
Food is fresh and tasty. The pho is not bad and the vermicelli (bun in Vietnamese) is really good.
P.S. they have the best pandan tea so we stay for a while after our meal to enjoy it. They're also available for purchase and have bought a few packets already!
Very flavorsome Pho! The broth was packed full of flavour. I got the chicken and beef combo with extra veggies, they didn't skimp on the meat which is always great! Good portion sizes and a go to cheap and easy meal. Would definitely go back.
YUMMM! I had the grilled chicken vermicille and really loved it! The grilled chicken has a crispy skin and the meat is so tender and juicy 😋😋😋😋 I also prefer the vermicille here because it's thicker than the usual ones I had.
My friend got the beef combination pho and think it's pretty good. the beef slices were not too rare like how other reviewers mentioned. However the black coffee is too sweet for him.
Service is prompt and I'll definitely be back to try other food items.
Been here twice, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. I love their rice paper roll here! Should try their Pho with rare beef and beef brisket.
The Pho rare beef plus brisket is super delicious! I had it twice in a week, both eat in and take away, it's equally good. They are a bit slow in serving at lunch time, but worth it!
We were on the way back from the airport and on a hunt for pho and found this place via Zomato. Overall, Pho House has great decor, tasty pho, generous serving sizes, nice crockery, extensive menu, great staff. We’d definitely come back!
Best Vegetarian Curry Luksa EVER, vegetables are FRESH & great in their selection. And they cater for my fuss bucket changes (I request Pho Noodles instead of the usual noodles, no corn, no tofu, but extra eggplant. And this restaurant provides 😊 YUM!!! I travel half an hour to get to Pho House, always well worth it. Thank you Pho House for making a fabulous soup, I L😍VE it❣️
Came with friends. Had the bun bo hue and this really colourful drink which I can't remember the name of. The bun bo hue noodle was one of the best I had in Melbourne as I have tried many places. Very flavoursome and spicy. The meats were good but the noodles could have been a bit more firmer. The drink had a mixture of topical fruits mixed with ice and coconut cream. Never had it before but what an amazing drink. Very refreshing and tasty. Will come back again.
I had the Beef Brisket and Meatballs Pho. The serving size for regular was very generous. The soup was a tad bland for my liking. I constantly had to dip the meat in sauce for some flavour. Excellent service, and a very spacious dining experience.
My first Vietnamese encounter and I’m impressed. Wow!! Whata beautiful place it is. I’m not a beef person due which I was reluctant to try pho. To my surprise chicken pho served here is so good that I fell in love with Vietnamese cuisine. I want to try more what Vietnamese cuisine can offer. Me and my husband ordered combination chicken pho and the quantity was enormous that both of us got full with jus that one dish. Your order comes with complimentary tea (I drank a lot) and bean sprout salad. I really enjoyed the ambience: it’s so welcoming, service: so cheerful, the aroma of the food itself is appetising and worth more than what u pay. Definitely on to go list when I dine out with friends. 4/5 because I haven’t had pho before and I can’t compare say it’s world best pho yet 😬
This is a good local for a quick meal of Pho. If you can’t be bothered with the queues in some of the neighbouring restaurants, this place is great alternative for some Vietnamese street food. The flavours are clean (we had the combination chicken and beef pho), and the spring rolls fresh and crispy. I also liked the complimentary pandan infused tea, a nice touch. The place is clean, modern, and the staff are friendly. What’s not to like!
Service: nothing bad, nothing memorable
Food: fantastic, big servings.
Been here twice. Had bun bo hue, pho, vegetarian spring rolls with vermicelli and papaya salad. Everything was tasty. Good variety for vegetarians and vegans.
Our favourite pho place. Very popular, frequently a full house. Fast service. Very extensive menu. Sure to fill a hungry belly! Plenty of vegetables.

This place is amazing ever since the new owner takes over. I've tried different pho around the city and this is my favourite. Generous serves with very fresh ingredients. If you love pho, you should definitely give it a try. Guaranteed to be better than any of the ones on Swanston St.
Love this place so much! It's one of the best places to get pho outside of Footscray. The decor and atmosphere of this place is absolutely perfect. The paintings on the wall are impeccable and it's such a great place to take your friends and family. This is the most well decorated pho place I know!
Laksa was really good, service is quick and friendly, prices are great value, space was not overcrowded, would definitely recommend! Very fresh modern decor!
Whole some Bun Bo Hue with a few other great dishes. Friendly and prompt service.
We were here on a Sunday night with a table for five booked in advance. The place was half full on our arrival.
Here we got a Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake) to start, which was mostly good. The pancake was very crispy and light with no oily taste at all. The dipping fish sauce accompanied was balanced and tasty. We however would prefer a more generous portion of protein stuff in the pancake, as what we had was mostly just a big chunk of beanshoots stuffed inside.
We then got ourselves each a bowl of Bun Bo Hue (beef noodle soup) which was pretty good. The broth was the main highlight which was very balanced and tasty. The generous use of lemongrass, prawn paste, herbs, and chili provided complexity, fragrance, and controlled intensity in the soup. The noodles were good - thin and smooth though were not generally served. We also question the cut of the beef slices, which seem to be more appropriate for Pho than BBH.
Better laksa than the option around the corner... generous helpings and if you are a tofu kind of guy or gal you won't go hungry (like around the corner). Good service, cheap, very cheerful and delicious
First time here and I'll definitely be returning! One of the better pho joints around so I definitely recommend it! Loved the vegetarian spring rolls and beef stir fry as well. Delicious!

Just a few stops from Flemington station, Pho House serves food that is cheap, of good quality and ample quantity.
My friend was craving pho and we decided on Pho House for dinner ! I had ordered the vegetarian spring rolls for starters while my friends order the chicken satay. The rolls were really nice but a bit too dry. The sauce accompanying it however was delicious. For mains, my friends ordered the chicken fried rice while I stuck with stir fried Schezwuan chicken noodles. The noodles were absolutely scrumptious! The quantity was beyond necessary and I ended up packing some food home.
The only suggestion would be to improve the waiting time for meal delivery but other than that it's a beautiful place with aesthetically pleasing interiors and appetite pleasing food.
My eyes grew wide as soon as the waitress handed me the laminated paper detailing the day's specials. It had two magical words: banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake). To those who have recently started to follow me ... let me bring you up to speed: I have a somewhat obsessive addiction to Vietnamese pancakes. Whenever it's on the menu at a Vietnamese restaurant, and even in one so overtly named "pho house", I simply can't resist but to try it.
We had:
1) banh xeo: it is one of the crispest ones I've tried in Melbourne which made it very enjoyable. However the filling was lacking any real flavour and the selection of herbs it came with was a bit limited. Overall a 4/5
2) spicy beef noodle soup: I loved this more than my husband loved it. He thinks it's like a 4/5 but this is "my" (ahem) review and I'd give this a 5/5.
3) avocado smoothie: could definitely taste the condensed milk but it wasn't too sweet. 5/5
Service was nice and quick although the food took a while to come out. 4/5
This place has really stepped up a notch since I last came pre-renovation. The newly decked out place is pretty sweet and the food offering has also improved. I do have a niggling non-food related question though: do the black lamps on the rendered brick wall turn on or are they just for show?
Clean looking Vietnamese restaurant with a variety of traditional Viet dishes.
Had the beef pho and chicken and avocado rice paper rolls. Took a while for the food to come out. It was super busy, but even at other Viet places this busy, you don't usually wait that long.
However the food was worth the wait. Really nice broth with tender beef and soft noodles. Rice paper rolls were really nice, especially with the sauce provided.
Will return.
Serving fantastic food in generous portions at a good price, Pho Place is the place to go to! The staff were very nice and the restaurant itself was very nice. I had the Sesame Prawn Toast, Pho Beef, Vietnamese Savoury Omelette and Papaya Salad with a Homemade Lemonade with Lychees and most dishes were hard to fault. Overall, the restaurant provided an inviting atmosphere that served a great range of foods in large quantities. Would definitely come back for more again!
This is a lovely place for a quick Vietnamese meal. The restaurant is very clean, spacious and have a nice modern interior design with plenty of flowers and pot plants used as decoration. The service was good, we are seated straight away when we walked in. We ordered beef brisket and meatballs pho. The serving was very generous and the broth is so flavorful. The restaurant also serves complimentary home made green tea with pandan ( Asian vanilla leave) flavour which is so delicate. You can also buy the tea leave at the counter. With less than $22 in total for 2 adults, we walked away feeling full and satisfied. This will be our regular place for Vietnamese meal.
Best Vietnamese around, super nice staff and great food. My go to is the tofu stirfry which is Vegan friendly, servicing size is great and the flavours are spot on. Will be coming back.
Been here twice now, food drinks and service have always been on point. Rice dishes are tasty & authentic and their spicy pho is also excellent (on par with the best in footscray)! Their pandan green tea was a love at first taste, would even recommend buying some to enjoy at home.
Been there twice.
Environment is good and the food is totally worth it.
Staff are very friendly. The serving is fast.
Highly recommend this.
I definitely come back again.
Pho is not bad, a little watered down but generous serving size. What is a pain is that it is cash only, like nearly every other restaurant in the strip (Laksa King and Chef Lagenda are also culprits of this). Frankly, the pho is not that great that I'm going to inconvenience myself every time getting cash out just so I can help them minimise their tax obligations, so I'll keep looking for another place...
Solid pho if you can't be bothered venturing into Footscray. The owners have also recently updated furniture and decor - giving the place a cleaner, more inviting feel.
Walked by Pho House so many times and tonight we finally decided to give it a try.
The interior looks modern and spacious. Staff were very attentive and friendly.
We ordered 1x combination Pho, 1x combination laksa, and 1x salt & pepper chicken ribs with tomato rice.
The food was presented pleasantly and tasted delicious.
We will be returning.
Loved the food and service! The staff are so friendly, the food was so fresh and the new decor looks great! It's very inviting and I would definitely be going back !! Love it
I have been craving Pho House for ages but hadn't been in 2 months (which is a crazy long time seeing as I'm usually there once a week). Pho House has had a makeover with new seating and tables (and upholstery on the booth seating), and have added some hanging plants. This has made the atmosphere more pleasant than previously. They seem to have stopped doing the "free drink when you check in on FB" promotion that they have had for so long- I asked a staff member about it and she said "what's a free drink?" Awkward. The premises was busier yesterday than I have ever seen it, so I guess the redecoration paid off! The menu and prices have not changed, and if they do I will update this review.
Pho house.... ❤️1st time vietnamese food..!
Nice experience. Rice noddles are good. Grilled chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. Balance of sweet and sour amazing😍.Really liked it...awesome experience 👍🏼
Love the pho here. Generous portions and very well priced. The spring rolls are crispy and the avocado drink is amazing. Will definitely be coming back.
Update 10/08 - Pho even better as we came before dinner service starts. We also had the salt and pepper chicken ribs which were really crispy and the salty fish fried rice (really tasty). They recently refurnished the whole place and it looks clean and amazing!
A good pho spot in Flemington if you don't want to venture all the way into Footscray. Broth is tasty and I particularly like that they use scotch beef, you can notice the difference in quality compared to the meat used in other pho restaurants. Prompt and friendly service, can't go wrong.
Ventured here numerous times, I've only tried the Pho, naturally and it's still one of my favourite places for it.
Broth is very heartily and the braised meat is so tender compared with other Pho spots.
A friend was complaining about the amount of msg, but you've got to have the trained taste buds for this kind of fastidious nit picking.
I only tasted deliciousness.
I love this place, cheap and great, come here when I want to get some vietnamese food and don't want to hike down to Footscray. Prefer it much more to Laksa King which is overcrowded and more expensive
I have been going to this place for over 30 years when it was called Vy Vy. Since it became Pho House it has changed. The staff don't take the orders properly they arrive at your table with the wrong order and they are not very friendly.
I dined tonight and in the time I was there I overheard the waitress saying there was no strawberries to the table next to me, the lady said she never ordered any, A coconut juice was also taken to the same table, which they didn't order. Tomato rice arrived instead of steam rice, I received a takeaway container which I did nor order. A man was trying to get the attention of a waitress that was standing next to him and she ignored him and walked off. This was all in the space of half an hour. As soon as the place starts to fill up, the waitresses can't cope. They need to pay more attention to their customers and write orders down properly. We waited at least 5 mins to pay the bill as there was no-one around. Don't know whether we will dine there again as the food is good, but poor service.
i love pho and can it in any form good or bad!!! the pho served here is quite good but it wasnt anything particularly special, still i recommend it as a viable option for pho!!
Had the Laksa, fried rice and spring rolls here. I thought it was delicious! Ive noticed quite a few negative reviews from vegetarians, but as someone who eats meat, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will return for sure!!
Should have tried it sooner. I am very fussy with pho and its hard to find a great one that has the correct balance of flavours however this place has all that. Very authentic pho felt like l was back in Vietnam however nicer cuts of beef at this restaurant. The prawn spring rolls and wontons were delicious too. There was a man there and the service from him was excellent the others were a bit slow. They were very accommodating here and even gave my daughter a toddler size pho but no charge and prawn crackers. Will definitely be back but wouldn't be surprised if it won't be so easy to get a table in the near future as it will not be long before it is discovered by the masses like other restaurants nearby. Very reasonable priced high quality food.
Yummo. I come to eat here regularly, it's quick and easy - they have a good selection of vegetarian options and the food is fresh and well priced. Love the vegie pho and spring rolls with rice vermicelli - yum!
Great cheap meal. Fantastic spring rolls and pho. Love it here
Awesome food and service!!
Pho Vegetarian. Freshest home made tofu in this veggie filled pho. The flavours are crisp & clean & I find myself coming back here at least once a week. It's a generous serve that comes with bean shoots, Vietnamese basil & lemon & lime wedges. Ahh-mazing!
Great food and service. Really lovely food, and service. I had a grilled chicken with vermicelli and it was lovely.
Looking forward to trying more :)
Nice staff, good service. The salt and pepper calamari was pretty good, but the pho is bland. Doesn't help that you only get 1/16 of a lemon for taste. Stick to other items on the menu
Good pho. decent price $10. will return
His place is great! Try the banana sprig roll dessert!
The best pho out!! Can't even begin to describe the flavour. We all know pho is delicious but the amazing work of the guys at Pho House put everything I've tasted before to shame! The home made flavour is so fantastic. You can really taste the herbs and spices and to know there is little msg in their broth makes it even better. Also the use of scotch fillet ups the quality to a huge degree! Really really really recommend their rare beef pho!
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne!
I have ordered grilled pork on rice, grilled chicken on rice and prawn spring rolls. pork and chicken are very chewy, moist, and very very tasty. Prawn spring rolls are good at average.
I will definitely come back to try more different dishes here.
Fantastic food, always amazing. Have been coming here for quite some time - Carlton’s best kept secret. Always looked after and made to feel welcome. Also perfect for a quick takeaway. Very affordable, best spot on Lygon St.
Had lunch here and really enjoyed it. I ordered Beef, brisket & brisket fat (Táì Nam Gàu) which was really well flavoured. The soup and raw beef were seperated for travel and the attention to packaging for takeaway was excellent. The staff were really friendly and prepared the egg coffee from scratch. It was one of the few places in Melbourne I have found serving the delicious egg coffee!! Thank you.
I came here for the first time and ordered a vegetarian noodle soup. It was very delicious and it’s good proportion too. The service was great and fast but I was the only customer at the time so not sure what’s it’s like when it’s busy. I will definitely eat here again. And the place is clean.
Vietnamese gem on Lygon St- great value for money
We recently tried Saigon Pho and was impressed by the value for money. We tried the beef pho, bun bo hue and the broken rice pork special. All three were delicious. The broth in both soups was perfect. The broken rice even had the egg cake that is sometimes missing from other places. We also tried the spring rolls but I can't comment on them since they were devoured by my so I never got to try any.
The service is good and the food came out quite fast.
Overall, I would recommend this place and we will be back soon.
literally the best beef pho ever, I went back the next day
Outstanding Service & Food!! Highly recommend ⭐️
This is my go to place for Pho! The staff are so lovely and the food is delicious!
