Review Verve Spice - Melbourne

If you’re looking for great coffee, a quick lunch or a cosy dinner, this is *the* place. These guys clearly know what’s what. The food is consistently without fault. Serving sizes are generous, and the selection is to die for. The place has a really cute ambience. I love the artisan food selection, there’s an international pantry, and the salads and fresh baked goods are delicious. These guys clearly understand great hospitality and service. The staff are super engaging and always make us feel welcome and cosy. This place is an absolute class act.

Always a great place to grab a nice coffee, the staff is so friendly and smiley! The food is so nice too and fresh with a middle eastern twist in the menu! The place is also very pleasant and the customers and usually very happy and this add to the ambiance of the place!

Always friendly and excellent service! The gelato and coffee are both amazing. The pasta and Mediterranean nights are always awesome. Lots of beautifully made food.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAFE! The food is simply incredible. Like...WOW!!🤯 Every dish is unique. Made with so much passion and love that you feel it in each bite you take!😍 And the staff is just the sweetest people you will ever meet! (Nick I love your energy! You have one of the most beautiful hearts I have met! Don't ever change!🥰) They do all kinds of diets. Vegetarian, vegan, keto, etc...whatever you are after...they will look after you.👌🤯😍 They always make sure we leave their venues with a big smile on our faces too! You just won't be disappointed!👌🥰

Verve Spice is such a lovely cafe in the heart of South Yarra. The food is always delicious and service impeccable. The menu has a wide variety of food which is great. We have been to this cafe many times over the years for brunch/ lunch and we will happily return in the future to enjoy the brilliant food and great atmosphere! Thanks Nick and the Verve Spice team, see you soon!

Visited this lovely cafe after class the other day! Tried out their beans, legumes and lentils and was absolutely blown away. The stew is quite heavy and filling, and perfect for a cold day. The toast on the side complemented it really well. I’m generally not a fan of savoury toast but this was a rare exception! Will definitely be back

Great food. Great coffee. Lovely staff working behind the counter. You can't go wrong. Try the mushroom and spinach ragout on the breakfast menu - it's incredible.
Sam
Very friendly owner and staff, nice coffee and good food. Will be back. And a waitress who's really on the ball. First time I've been asked if I would like my coffee served same time as my meal which is my pet hate when coffee comes out way before the food and completely cold by the time I start eating.

What an amazing late lunch I had here with my family this Sunday afternoon.

Staffing is extremely friendly, made us feel like we were in a friends’ house. The food didn’t let us down either.

As vegans, we know it’s a real struggle to go out and have a nice meal in a non-exclusively vegan place - some times even in those places.
In most places everything is so acid and we got to pick from multiple options of salad - so boring.

That’s not the case here. At Verve Spice, we had some AMAZING falafel and a wonderful hommus with caramelised onions to begin with, and a delicious quinoa and cucumber salad with the most delicious cauliflower ever.

We finished with a great coffee and left the place wondering how on earth it took us so long to get to know this place.

Highly recommend - certainly made our favourites list.

The man who made my coffee smelled heavily of cigarettes. The coffee was okay but absolutely did not make up for that. I haven't had the food so I cant comment on anything else but I wont be back.

Thanks so much for our Wonderful Vegan Banquet last night, everything tasted Amazing! Loved the Falafel with Tahini Sauce, Fried Cauliflower with Spiced Pear Sauce, Harra Potatoes with Garlic Toum and Fatouli was to die for! ❤️😋
Service was very friendly yet still professional and Nick was always stopping by to make sure we were comfortable as well as giving us a detailed run down of the food and recommendations which were spot on! 👌🏻
Great job Raff and Nick! I will be bringing a group with me next time and catching public transport so I can try their unique cocktail list!

After several times I bought coffee and sweets for take away, I finally had the chance to sit down and try their menu.
The most noted aspect of this place is the owner, who is always very friendly and attentive, and he hires his staff accordingly.
The Middle eastern inspired food was delicious. The South Yarra Breakfast was almost like the breakfasts I'm used to.
They also serve Hummus in the evening, which I'll hopefully try soon (though Hummus should be brunch :)).

Friendly staffs, love so much😆 can't give too opinion on their food, because I'm a boring person I only order the same thing which is scrambled eggs on sourdough. Food is average, coffee is good.

What a great little place that exudes 'local'. A wonderful cafe entertaining South Yarra's finest with a very casual, relaxed feel.

We stopped in here for breakfast with friends before heading to the airport & it was a great start to the day!

I enjoyed the vegetable fritters with Kewpie mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, 'smashed' avocado & bacon. It strangely had a resemblance to the Japanese Okonomiyaki. A visually appealing dish not to mention delicious!

Only improvements would be that there was no gluten free bread available until someone returned from buying it. Would like to assume there is sufficient to cover the weekend breakfast rush etc but....things happen I guess.

Staff were lovely and quite chatty which added to the great local feel.

A definite must if you're in the area.

Dropped in for a coffee and some cookies. Great coffee. 8/10 could be stronger. Perfect milk and temperature. The cookies where really nice and moist. Nicely price too. And the service was really nice too.

Verve Spice is one of those unsuspecting gems you just need someone to recommend because its just off the more beaten path of Chapel St. Being on Toorak rd, they have quite a reputation to fulfil - luckily, everything here is made in house with so much love and care for the hospitality trade that they have no trouble.
Service is constantly 100% every time I go there, the Barista is an absolute charmer and never to busy to have a chat. I've had breakfast & lunch there but what really standed out each time was the portion sizes, everything was bursting with flavour, freshness and the uniqueness of their menu! If you can get a seat, Verve Spice will definitely look after you more then a lot of the cookie cutter cafes out there. Do yourself a favour and walk in next time you walk by.

Verve Spice is your quintessential local café, with delicious food, awesome service and perfect coffee.

We come here all the time and we have always had wonderful experiences; the staff are warm and friendly (Nick is an absolute darling) and the food is always great. It has become an absolute favourite of ours, and they're super pet-friendly too!

Recommend the breakfast options (whether you like your eggs poached or in an omelette you can't go wrong), the 15h Beef Cheek Sandwich, Ploughman, Breakfast Bagel, Börek... Actually, anything and everything!

Verve Spice was absolutely delicious. I had the pulled pork and it melted in the mouth. The staff are very friendly and their coffee was delicious. I would highly recommend going to Verve Spice!

Ordered
•Ploughman •Chicken breast salad

It took more than 30 minutes to be served.

Both dishes had great portion. Ploughman was a unique and tasty plate. If the pulled pork had more flavour, we could have enjoyed it more.

Unfortunately there was too much mayonnaise in the Chicken salad. Because of the good reviews, I expected more .....maybe I picked the wrong one. I will try a different dish next time.

The owner was very friendly, and we were impressed by his warm service:)

Absolutely amazing place. Best almond milk coffee in Melbourne without a doubt. These baristas know what they're doing! Just had a delicious apple and rhubarb muffin which is so big! $9 for a coffee and muffin bigger than my hand. Bargain in South Yarra especially! Staff are very attentive and super friendly. There is one gentleman who actually takes the time to get to know the customers and suggest items off the menu. Last time I had amazing eggs Benedict with a side of rosemary potatoes. Definitely a must guys! So hard to find such good customer service these days.

Can't go wrong with a triple whammie; great coffee, tasty food and friendly service! The avo and ricotta on toast and poached egg, was simple, fresh and quickly became my go-to brekkie choice. Will definitely be back!

Favorite spot for coffee, breakfast and now even lunch !! We stay at the Como Melbourne when in town and always go here. Hands down best service and fresh food in a quiet, friendly atmosphere. Omelettes are very flavorful with some unique ingredients and spices that I really enjoy. I think it's got some Turkish or Lebanese seasoning influences! The pear spinach salad with walnuts was especially delicious for lunchtime. There was another crunchy chicken salad that had a wide assortment of yummy ingredients that I enjoyed. There is every reason to head to this cafe on Toorak St near Chapel St.

Great coffee, great meals, great people. I hired a car just to have lunch here during a stop over in melbourne. I've been eating here for two years now and have yet to have a bad meal. Do yourself a favour....

Small venue with a modern clean look. Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean hints of food flavor. Service was friendly but food took more than 45 minutes to arrive after ordering. There are special take home goodies available for purchase displayed on shelves. The crowd of diners consists of local families. The coffees were not bad, unfortunately the latte beans were over extracted and crema was not smooth. The smoked trout on English muffins and poached eggs was beautifully seasoned, ingredients were fresh and tasty and the spinach balanced the dish. The pulled pork was cooked well, however, the flavor was a bit too salty and the consistency was slightly soggy affecting the toasted bread underneath. I would still return to Verve to try different dishes.

great coffee and order anything off the menu you will not be disappointed. the location is ideal and the ambiance is great, the service is usually good as well.

Great service and price - knows how to make a flat white. Now our local, the owner is very friendly. Food is always great whatever you order.

The service is friendly and uber positive. Coffee and breakfast is top notch. It's a shame that I'm moving out of the neighborhood because this place is a nice little quiet achiever just off Chapel St.

The owner and cafe manager is the friendliest face in my hood. He is kind, gentle and whips up a brekkie befitting of royalty. The honey toasted muesli, poached fruit and coconut yoghurt combo is to die for. The chai latte is also a speciality here. If you want to start your day with a spoonful of sunshine, you should do what I do and be their first in, best dressed. Conveniently located at the doorstep of the tramstop serving route 8 ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Family with a side of coffee. You can't go wrong. The food is delicious, the coffee is amazing and the staff are absolutely beautiful. I can't speak highly enough of Raff & Nick who make every visit one to remember, with their infectious laughter and witty banter. If you want to feel like a part of the family, with incredible food and coffee added to the mix, you can't go past verve spice. Love!

Great food, great coffee, great staff. I've been a regular at this cafe since they opened, and they've always been so great - the food and the service. They serve all day breakfasts, which is a huge bonus. The desserts are delicious. The za'atar pastry and borek are delicious. They make their own chutney too, and guess what, it's delicious! Honestly, you can't go wrong here. The staff are top notch - very accommodating and friendly.

Verve Spice is a great cafe just away from the bustle of Chapel Street. Super friendly staff, great food and awesome coffee combined always make for a great experience.

At Verve you're not just a customer, you're a part of the family. What more could you want?!

Excellent service, wonderful coffee. I have only ever gotten a take-away coffee from Verve Spice, but have done so about a dozen times. They are all extremely friendly, personable and can make a great coffee! The complimentary biscotti is a lovely touch, also. Have had a peak at people's meals (and the cake cabinet), and looks delicious. Will have to dine in soon!

Very Nice. Verve Spice.. It is a rarity to visit a cafe as often as I have and been 100% satisfied every time, but Verve Spice in South Yarra delivers the goods. The food is delicious and the customer service so warm and welcoming, not to mention the faultless coffee. Cannot recommend this place any higher as I look forward to my next dine out experience there. I recommend the vegetable fritters, the chef plates these up very creatively, delicious!

Impeccable service, exceptionally coeliac-friendly and amazing food!. My father and I popped in here for breakfast and from the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. We are always a little apprehensive to dine out as my father is coeliac - often it is not taken seriously as people tend to assume wanting 'gluten free' is a lifestyle choice, not an allergy. All of the wonderful staff were consistent in providing dad and I with the upmost attention to his requirements, even to the point where it felt as though it was their pleasure to accommodate his needs.

We asked a staff member and the chef to decide what delicious omelette would be suitable. They were very honest and knowledgeable about what ingredients were potentially gluten-containing and even went to the extent of assuring us clean utensils and equipment was used. They even toasted the gluten-free bread in the oven so there would be no contamination from crumbs of regular bread in their toaster.

I would highly recommend Verve Spice to those with or without dietary requirements. The staff are fantastic, the food is so good (I had the smoked trout breakfast which was incredible), and of course, the coffee is great!

Thank you for a wonderful start to our Sunday!

Poached eggs. The service, value and food was good - apart from the poached eggs! we had 4 poached eggs on the table and all had hard yolks :-(

Delicious!. Stumbled upon this place today and so glad that we did!!! Food was delicious, coffee was good, and the staff were really friendly. I had the vege fritters ( with bacon!), and my husband had the scrambled eggs with a few extra sides. Very generous portions, and so tasty! So many other things on the menu look and sound delicious, so we will be coming back for sure!

My favourite new cafe. I live locally and have just discovered Verve Spice, and it is now my favourite cafe. I've been 3 times in the last few weeks, sampling differing things from the menu.
The food is delicious, healthy and fresh, the coffee great and the service so so friendly. It's a really charming venue and I'll be coming back many more times.
Highly recommended.

I've been here a few times now and it's a great place for a weekend breakfast, I particularly enjoy the omlette. Large portion sizes. My coffee wasn't amazing, however I remember it being great the first time. I hope it was just a mistake. I will be back and I recommend it if you are in the area!

Absolutely Loved it!. I live right opposite it and I was hesitant to try at first cause it was right on a busy main road, however it was the best decision I have ever made. Beautiful food, I got the smashed avo and fetta with a poached egg. The orange juice was terrific and the girl who served us was very good. I definitely recommend this for a south yarra breakfast.

Great food + coffee, awesome service. Came here yesterday and everything was delicious - had to come back again today! Good coffee, and staff are very friendly and attentive. Great spot for breakfast or lunch.

Wow. One of the best breakfast experiences I have had for a looooooong time.
Coffee was velvet perfection (house blend) - the barista delightful and friendly!
Omlette special - folded with gypsy ham, caramelised onion, spinach, tomato & tasty cheese - with a side serve of the most delectable crispy bacon I've tasted in.
On sampling my wife's breakfast (brown Swiss mushrooms with mascarpone on toasted brioche) - the dollop of mascarpone on top of the pan fried mushroom pieces, stirs and melts through perfectly.
We also ordered a side of the beetroot salad - because we have had it once before - and it is a standout dish!!
Definitely a Melbourne breakfast highlight.
Micky
Amazing coffee! Really friendly staff, especially the barista! He's attentive, knows our order already, we've only been twice! Happy to call this my local cafe

Just need to get the basics right. Water on the table while we wait for coffees, salt, pepper and sugar on tables. Relish and butter with plain bread with omelette as bread was dry and egg was over cooked. Apart from that coffee was good and manager was friendly. Long wait for food tho.
Ms Minogue
Barista is just as smooth as his coffees. Friendly and great atmosphere.

Great layout, delicious coffee, and the owner/staff are lovely. Looking forward to this becoming my new local cafe.

Verve Spice is a new cafe in Toorak road. It is about a stone's throw away from Tivoli bakery. It is a five minute walk from South Yarra station which is great for those that study in the city and want to get away. I was invited by Dan from Verve Spice to try the place. It had been opened for about a month. It is run by three people: two guys and one lady. The cafe is very kid friendly. The owner has one child. The setting was nice and very relaxing. It reminded me of France. Because it was after 11am I had a latte. It was presented beautifully and it had that beautiful crema and artwork on top. They do takeaways as well as eat ins. Quite a few people got takeaway coffees whilst I was there. Everything here is homemade. They sell some of their homemade stuff such as jams, museli etc for people to take home. Here I sampled some lovely egg omelette with sumac (a Turkish spice) and eggplant and polenta chips with aioli. These were the best that I have ever had. It was crispy and not t
